GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

INTO ACTION

Your most treasured dreams are far too valuable to be hidden away. Instead, put them into action so that they become real and vibrant contributions to your world.

Every moment will be filled with some activity or another. So fill as many of those moments as you can today with positive action. You're always moving in some direction or another. So move steadily in the direction of those things you value and treasure most.

It can be all too easy to get caught up in the empty distractions that continually come your way. But do you really want to waste your time and energy on them when there is so much more you can be doing?

Pick the most positive, valuable, magnificent thing you can imagine and put it into action. Let it fill your thoughts and fill your moments.

When each action, no matter what it may be, is taken as a step toward what you treasure most, the power of joy and purpose will fill your efforts. Put your dreams into action, and put your own special value into life.

-- Ralph Marston

*******************

ACCEPT THE POSSIBILITY

The biggest successes come to those who are not afraid to fail. When you can accept and live with the possibility of failure, then you're able to create the reality of success.Success that is guaranteed is meaningless, for it creates nothing of real value. The value of true success is derived from the obstacles that must be transcended in order to reach it.

So how do you find the courage to accept the risk of failure? By knowing that no failure can diminish the value of who you are. No failure can take away your ability to accomplish. In fact, when you fall short of the mark after sincere and sustained effort, it is not really failure but a powerful step toward eventual success.

After every success, after every setback, you will still be you, ready to go at it again. Accept the possibility of failure, and you'll surely reach the reality of success.

-- Ralph Marston

Thank you for the motivation Debilli. I guess I'm the first one to post this morning. Of course I'm up with the chicken's so I can get DH off to work. Got my walking in and am about ready for my day to begin. We got a little rain last night and its like fall here. I made my white bean chili yesterday and thought it was good. Think we'll have it again for dinner tonight and then I'll freeze the rest. Guess I'll go and pop back on later.

Good Monday Morning!

Yes, tis I, back from the missing from last week. Sorry about that, it wasn't planned!

Just got in from my 4.5 miles. Felt good to get back out there, wasn't able to go yesterday as we had a lot of rain in the morning. I'm actually surprised I felt good enough to go out, I'm teetering between getting sick and not. I prefer the not but my body may have other motives. It's starting exactly like the last time I got sick, took a long time to actually finally kick in to sick mode and until then I had tiny touches of symptoms. Light scratchy throat, sneezing once in a while, you get the picture. Most of what I feel is just tiredness.

My yoga classes have been cancelled:( My yoga teacher was in a car accident about 2 weeks ago and called me last night to tell me it was worse than she thought and she has some torn ligaments and will need some surgery. She doesn't have a clue when she'd be back to teaching. I have to call the library this morning to let them know as she asked me to do her that favor.

Went with ELI and his friend yesterday. I really hated having to share my one day with ELI with having him around. We went to lunch at OLE OLE where his friend ended up not eating but drinking 2 margaritas. It was like a cramp in our usual day. We ended up going to a movie which MICHAEL said got great reviews, we wondered how, it was AWFUL! It was LOST IN TRANSLATION - it had no point.

Well, I finally made a loaf of bread in my new/used bread machine and it got thumbs up from everyone, even LAUREN who hates WW bread. It was sorta flattish on the top, didn't make a dome shape as I thought it would, but heck, it tasted great! MICHAEL even asked to have his lunch made with the bread. I have a really old knife that's really cool and has a guide that makes all the slices the same (can be adjusted), only problem with it, it's for righties:shrug: I'm going to make something else tonight maybe.

Sat. garage sales were the pits, hardly any out there and nothing at the ones that I went to-just got ELI 2 pairs of dress pants for $1, not much else that I can remember, only remembered spending $2.75.

I was only able to briefly skim the board from last week, I just got too far behind to try and catch up. I know I missed a lot, but anything of great importance or urgency???

Well, I'm back, at least til the next catastrophe! I'm still looking for a microwave - may look one more time today and then make a decision. Found one at Sears that's half-price but they'd have to order it if I want it in black which will take a few weeks, poor MICHAEL!!!!

Well, I'll be back on later to check in, have a few things to do around the house before I p/u MICHAEL and then go back and p/u LAUREN later - hate going there 3 times in one day but it's going to be that way til mid-Oct this time around.

TONI, good way to start the day and the new week:bravo:

Have a great day!!

I'm up early this am--I have a presentation at 10:00 and then I have to finish writing an exam for my class tomorrow. It's ben 2 1/2 years since I've had to grade anything. Never once in my "retirement" from teaching did I miss grading!

Toni--I'm with you! I made a pot of black bean soup this weekend. It's easy, easy. I've posted the recipe before but I just saute some onions and garlic in a little bit of olive oil. Add one can of chicken broth and one can of rinsed black beans (the Goya beans have no added sugars). I let it simmer for 10-15 minutes and then puree the soup with an imersion blender. A couple of shots of your favorite hot sauce and you are ready to go!

Monet--Where was your retreat this weekend? About this time last year I went on a church retreat to Montreat NC. I brought home tons of good mountain apples that were yummy all fall long!

BOB--Have you recovered from your weekend celebration yet? I hope you master that new program at work soon. The snowbirds will be descending shortly!

Gator--Have you recovered from your weekend heartbreak yet? Auburn replaced Florida with UT on its schedule this year, so I have to tabgle with BOB next!

Deb--everyone talks about how busy I am, but you seem to take the cake (SB legal of course!).

Heartmom--Last night my local NBC station repeated the dateline about the heartbabies. They followed a woman expecting twins, one, a heart baby. Was this the Dateline you were talking about a while ago? The baby had her surgery in Philadelphia. I have new admiration for you and Boogie! I always knew you had a special strength, but the special made that even more apparent!

Speaking of babies--Has Jenn in MN been on lately?

I'm trying to think of a motivational tidbit for Monday. I saw on the news last night about the Russian ballerina that got fired because she got too fat. This is a woman who is 5' 6" and weights 110 lbs! They interviewed her and there is not an ounce of fat on that body. Which just goes to show that if we are trying to lose weight for anyone other than our selves we are destined to fail. It's nice when everyone tells us how good we look and how great we are doing, but the true measure of our success is how comfortable we become with our bodies and ourselves by treating our bodies with respect and honor.

Have a goo OP day everyone!

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES:

As usual we continue with to TRY AND GET IN AT LEAST 64 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY and TRY TO GET IN AT LEAST 3 DAYS WORTH OF EXERCISE and post it on the exercise board.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE:

Try to list, at least one day this week, the foods you ate that have a significant amount of fat grams, i.e. meat, nuts, cheese, etc. If it as 5 grams or more of fat per serving, list the food and the amount of fat grams you had in the serving. For instance, the pot pies have 10 grams, so you'd list that food. One ounce of regular cheddar cheese, 9 grams of fat-list it!

GOOD LUCK!:D

FILLISE, I heard from JENN a few weeks ago, she said she was going to try and get back on the board, honestly, I can't remember if she did or not:shrug: Not really busy, just a bunch of crap occupying my time-things should be better this week, hopefully. Good luck with your presentation!!

Good Monday morning.

It is a dreary day here, raining and cool.

Went to the ballgame Friday night, It was a great game. But I froze to death, even with 2 coats. I will never make it through the winter. :(

The wedding was nice. Typical wedding food. I did fine with the food, but had too many drinks. I was going tobe good, asked DH to get me wine. He brought back white wine. I have never drank white wine in my life. We never buy it. You would think he would know that. Men;) So I switched to my Madras'. I had felt horrible Sat morning. I think it was do to not eating after lunch Friday. we didn't eat before the game as we didn't plan on going and then it was too late. I woke with a horrible headache which left me sick at my stomach. Therefore, I could hardly eat Sat. By Sunday, I was so weak. I ate but could never get full. Just had no life in my. Had so much to do but did nothing but lay on the couch all day and night. Did have way too much popcorn too.

Still didn't feel like eating this morning. Ate some pudding and half of a smoothie. Hopefully will have a snack later. With such little eating you would think the scale would be down, No, it is up 2 pounds. Guess all those Madras killed me.

Hopefully this rain will stop by this evening so I can get back to exercising.

BOB, I was pulling for those VOls. Can't beleive they beat them so badly. The high school game was Trinity vs Seneca. Our friend's son is the QB for Seneca. He had an awesome game. We left with 4 minutes to go and Seneca was down 10, they came back and won it. Making Trinity a 0-4 going into the ST X-Trinity game next week. The wedding was typical wedding food, sandwiches, meatballs, chicken tenders and stuffed mushrooms. Eating was fine, it's those drinks that kill me.

Jdawn, We have tickets to the UT game. Maybe we can meet up. Look for Grant's Farm bread, 100% WW. I know they sell that there. I really like the Wonder 100% SGWW bread. They also have that there at least the Kroger by Campus does.

Angehaley, Glad you caught that leaf before your DD ingested it. You aren't a bad mom, kids are just to darn quick.

ChrisD, hope your DS is feeling better. It is horrible to be helpless.

Monet, glad your retreat was great.

Deb, Bummer about the yoga classes. Maybe they can get another teacher. Maybe you could do it! Pump in some vitamin C and maybe you can hold off the sickies.

Susan, I don't think there is a teacher out there that likes grading papers. At least none of my teacher friends do. Make it easy on yourself. I saw that story on the Russian ballerina. She was so tiny. You are so right. Do it for yourself. Hope your presentation goes well.

Gator, We get you all next week. I hope you aren't too mad about the UT game and take it out on the CATS. We will probably have the big head since beating Indiana.

Missy, How bout those Tigers. Sure was a great game.

Have a great day. Be back later.

I thought I saw a recipe for stuffed shells or manicotti on here last week. I can't seem to find it now and I checked the recipe boards and didn't find anything.

If anyone has one or posted one, would you post it again?

Thanks

Yum Jackie I would love that recipe too. I just made a loaf of zucchini bread and it came out like sawdust. It was horrible dry and of course I pigged out on it. Warm and sweet! LOL....
Fillise I hope your presentation comes out well.
Debilli- Hope you can knock that cold out before it takes hold....

Good Morning. I got on here Friday evening and posted a long post with replies and my internet service disconnected right before I sent it, so I'm not going to re-type it but start fresh this morning. I would love so much to get the fast-dial up modem, but it is not available where I live yet, so I have to deal with the turtle web.

I weighed in at 123.5 this morning with TOM hitting last night. I am a little surprised because I made some really bad choices over the weekend. I had some McDonald's FF (nearly a whole order), I had some regular cookies with sugar, I had one slice of pizza (with the crust) and then two without the crust. I feel like I was out of control, and blaming it on upcoming TOM, which is really no excuse....I've stayed on plan plenty of times through this TOM. I really need to get on track today before it gets out of control!

Did anyone notice that the heading for this said exercise board instead of support board? I'm sure everyone will figure it out since there usually aren't too many posts on the exercise board.

Deb: I hope you aren't getting sick. Both of my girls are just getting over colds. My youngest has been miserable. It's hard when you can't really give them too much medication and they are too stuffed up to sleep. That is too bad you had to share Eli with a friend for the day; that's the pits.

Jack: Sorry you felt lousy Saturday; that'll teach ya ;) .

I spent all weekend hanging clothes on hangers and getting stuff prepared for our garage sale that we plan to have the second weekend in October; it better cool off by then. We have had unusually high temperatures lately. We broke a new record today at 107 degrees.

I hope to get to the gym at least 3 times this week, possibly 4. I think that is what set me up for the downfall last week. I only got to the gym once with the kids being sick, and didn't do my abdominal tape all week. I think I felt yucky and just ate that way too. It's a new week and I will be doing much better today, I hope!

Take care and have a great day. My DD doesn't have school today so we will run some errands early and I will jump back on later this afternoon. My goal is to check in twice a day, am & pm, and stay caught up on posts!

Take care!

Want to stay caught up...

JACKK, it's THAT cold there already? Geez, I'm dying of the heat down here and have the a/c cranked up and working over time! Hope you're feeling better, you don't sound like you're doing to well yourself. What the heck are Mantras? I don't drink anything but cheap Jewish wine during the holidays, even if then. I wish someone else would take on the yoga classes, but I doubt that would ever happen. She's the only one who would even think of teaching for free. I'm going to stay in touch with her and hopefully she'll get back into doing the classes in the future.

TONI, who's zucchini bread recipe did you use? Can't be mine, if it is it's DEFINITELY the cook!!!;)

PANCHO, I don't have dsl either, turtle speed here. Too expensive! I thought I had fixed the heading of the board but I did one area, not the main one - it's fixed now - sorry about that!! Hope you get to the gym all you want this week!

Okay, I'm off to make a milkshake! Will check in later!

Good morning everyone,
Sort of a bad weekend food-wise. The in-laws were visiting, so we wound up eating out several times. I did manage to get a salad for lunch on Sat, Fri dinner was also good - sea scallops,
last night was salad and sirloin, but I also had a margarita. I really thought it would throw me for a loop because i haven't had anything alcoholic since May, but it OK. I'll get back on the treadmill tonight, and stay OP. And then we head off to San Francisco Thursday for a family wedding. Fresh seafood! I've never been out there, so it should be a lot of fun!
Hope that everyone else is doing well this morning.

Good monday morning everyone!
DS still is miserable. His attitude is definitley a little better and so far no fever. Still has the nasty sores though and he isnt letting me look in his mouth long enough to see if they are going away. Just another lovely day around here.
Got to work out today, I feel so good that I did. Last week I only managed to get in one day! Now Im working on five!
I weighed in yesterday and it hasnt budged. Maybe a 1/2 lb but thats it! So I ate all day yesterday cause I was pissed, and didnt care! All legal stuff but a lot of it. I finished off the zucchini loaf throughout the day! Back on track today!

DEB - Look at you, being on top of these posts today! I love it! Hope you are feeling better! I hate when it teases you like that! What was the movie that you saw? Went to the new HFS that I found and it was worse than the original! I HAVE TO go to Tampa!

Hello everyone.

My weekend was just like every other weekend I've had, not good, but not too terrible either. I did eat way to much crap, but that's over with, until this weekend when I do Kerri's birthday. I know I'm going to have to have some of the cake, but I'm gonna do my best throughout the week up until her "party."

My Strawberry Shortcake pan came in Friday! I was so excited about it, now I can't wait to get the cake made on Saturday and decorate it on Sunday morning. I'll make sure to take a picture of it to post. The lady I got it from put a present in with the pan for Kerri. I thought that was really nice of her.

Those of you who saw the picture of Scooby all colored up by Autumn, I got him cleaned up. He's not all blue and green anymore. Thank goodness for washable markers. She's not getting them anymore though, besides the cat, she colored on my couch and dinner table! I just don't know what got into that child, she knows better then that.

Well so far today I've cleaned the living room and kitchen. That dang dog pooped behind the couch so I had to turn it over and clean out from under it and behind it. I swear he's more trouble then he's worth right now. I can handle the house being in a mess, but dog poop I can not handle at all!:s: Hubby definately has to get a chain to put him outside some during the day. I thought he was getting better with this, but I guess I was wrong.

Ok, you all wanted a picture of me, so here goes. Ughhhh, I hate pictures of myself!

Gotta run, Autumn is ready for lunch and I need something myself, then off to the never ending laundry.

THIS POST BY SLAPPY WAS IN ANOTHER AREA:

Hello All!

I am new to this site. I have been contemplating starting the SB or Atkins for some time now. Can't really figure out which one would be best except that SB has alot more food choices. I am still confused after reading the book about meal choices, serving sizes, etc... I have read Montignac's book a while ago and found it confusing as well. Can anybody help with this problem? I have been through the discussion board and still don't really know what to do.

Was wondering...I live in Canada and was trying to find a suitable bread to have. I have been eating dempster's 100% ww with 1.9 g sugars/serving and 4 or 5 g fibre. Would this be a suitable bread? Sugars are listed in the ingredients but I am confused

Just spent over an hour on the phone with Lexmark-got it fixed, at least for now.

WOOD, you're doing great! Enjoy the wedding and yourself!

CHRIS, sorry to hear DS is still feeling icky-at least the attitude is starting to improve. I guess it's a man thing, no matter what the age! Is he at least eating a bit more now? Did you get my message-sorry about that, couldn't call you back at the store, couldn't get a signal. Sorry to hear that other store is worse - you def. need a trip to Tampa! ****, why not just come down to Miami?

JEC, thanks for posting that picture, it's nice to put a name with a face, but (I don't mean to offend you) ummm, do you think you could look a little happier to be posting your picture for us? I know there has to be a smile in there, somewhere;) Good going on the SS pan, I'm sure she'll love her cake. Can't wait to see a picture of your handywork! Too funny about the cat. Have you ever seen the picture of the baby with all the marker on it? I don't have it in my files anymore, but it was a hoot. Sorry to hear about the dog poop - you need to rename him Poopcaso!

Starting to feel more icky:shrug:

Later!

Got in from work a few minutes ago. Then son arrived for lunch...and he is a talkative sort. I got him out the door and thought I would check in. I need to take a nap, cause I am terribly tired. The boss is irritating me. He cut my hours a good bit, probably in retaliation for my confronting him about that episode last week. I have so few hours now, that it is hardly worth my while to keep working. Not sure what I will do yet, but I am thinking!

Ok, off to grab a cat nap!

Good Afternoon everyone! I did not get a chance to post this a.m. because they installed a new computer in my office. My old one was totally possessed. I used to call it Linda Blair (from the exorcist).
This weekend was TERRIBLE (food wise). Thanks to Jackie anyway for sending her on plan vibes. Maybe next week, Jackie you could send some vibes to me that would require me getting my jaws stiched closed!!!

I really don't know what the problem is but lately I have been thinking about sugar a lot. I have not craved it up to this point, so I really don't understand it. Why after 2.5 years am I thinking about Krispykreme obsessively???? I have not given in to any of these fantasies but they are taking up too much space in my brain. I have engaged in some other cheats though (movie popcorn, McDonald's french fries, any food category including both carbs and trans fats, etc.... I am about to lose it. I do so well during the week and it all goes to **** on the weekend. What is up with that?? I also exercise 5-6 times a week and days that I weightlift, I am like Wolverine with my appetite. I was telling the peeps I work with and they just laugh at me. They think I am funny, but this is no laughing matter. Last week I ate enough Doritos to sink a small ship and this week I am off to a bad start (yesterday). It seems like you all are so good at staying on plan. Please, if you have any suggestions. I keep griping about losing these last 20 pounds, but it doesn't keep me from breaking off my relationship with Frito Lay........

Monet- Do we work for the same boss??? hang in there...

Jecrites- glad to hear the cat is clean..now only if you could get that color off your sofa. How old is Autumn??

ChrisD- Hope your son feels better soon!!!

Debelli-I was glad to see your post. Hope you are feeling better.

Woodfrogs- San Francisco is BEAUTIFUL. Hope you enjoy the wedding. If you are trying to stay away from alcohol, avoid wine country at all costs!!!!

Pancho- we can beat these weekend binges!! We can!!! I am glad the scale is not up for you, though. I am too afraid to even climb on this week...I guess denial isn't just a river in Egypt!!!

Jack-K- Glad you had a good time at the wedding. With all your exercising the scale will be back down in no time!!!

To everyone else...HELLO..I will chat with you later.

CountryMom4Him

Howdy all! The weekend went pretty good. I ate more than I should but whats new. No major cheats. We started our walking week with 5.5 miles. I hope we get in a good walk this evening to add to it.

JackieO....girl you make me smile. I've complained about these last 13 pounds for the last two years. And I too am very intimate with frito-lay. I've been a good girl the last week but I've made up for it with other high fat foods. Hoping you are able to get those last 20 pounds off...and hope to follow suit with my last 13.

Jenn....you have beautiful hair. Glad your pan came in.

ChrisD...I hear ya...I have those days when I get so mad at the scales. I want them to budge and they are set in cement! And off I go on a feed feast. We CAN do this....the weight will come off. Good luck on finding the time to get your exercise in this week. It really will make a big differnce. The lady I walk with barely changed her eating and has lost 10 pounds just from the walking.

Monet...hope you get some rest and fell better soon.

Deb....good to see you back online.

Jack-K....make my scales be nice to me! :D How I wish it was that easy. Just wanted to tell ya howdy this afternoon.

Woodfrogs...doesn't sound you ate half bad at all. I like scallops..hadn't had them in ages.

Poncho..hey skinny! ((hugzz)).

Howdy and hugs to everybody else...I need to get my lazy hiney off line and get some chores done.

Love,
Crystle

Hey! Two visits in one day---don't anyone go into shock or anything!;)

But I was on a website for a local TV station and found this article on low-carb nutrition that I thought you might find interesting!

Low Carb Nutrition (http://www.wsfa.com/Global/story.asp?S=377377)

Slappy--You might find the above link very helpful! The author worked at the Atkins institute, but the recomendations seem to be more in line with SB (Sugerbusters OR Southbeach!). The bread you asked about sounds fine. If the first ingredient is Whole Wheat and you are under 4 grams, you should be OK. Good luck and welcome aboard!

Crystle--I beat one set of scales to death with a hairbrush when they got "stuck." Hope you don't have to resort to such extreme measures.

JackieO--I can sympathize with the sudden sugar cravings. I can go a long period of time and have no desire for anything sweet and then all of a sudden it's all I want. Hang in there--try a handful of nuts. It's a suggestion they make in the book and it really does seem to tame a sweet tooth.

Monet--Vindictive bosses are the worst! Enjoy your nap--I had to take one too! Now my sweet kitten is snuggled in my lap. Is you weather as icky as ours today?

Must get back to work!

I forgot to ask earlier, I was at the health food store yesterday and decided to buy some chocolate. Don't know why, just thought I might like to have some around. I know you all talk about Lindt bars. But they had 4 or 5 and I couldn't find the % of choc on them anywhere. There was one semi-sweet in a white wrapper which I thought might be the one. I bought another brand that listed 70% choc. Hope that is ok. Threw it in the fridge for when that craving hits if it does.

Been rather quiet here today. Heading home to walk and then grill some pork chops. Feeling more like myself today so should get back to my exercising.

Toni, what happened with the bread? Everyone else raved about it. You're on the ball today already getting in your exercising.

Pancho, isn't it funny when we screw up we are always looking for an excuse. I guess that is part of our insecurities. I thought I was nuts looking for the board. I opened it this morning and then went back to read last weekend's post and then when I came back I couldn't find it. I thought I was losing my mind. I thought I did something to mess it up. Glad I'm not alone. I think I'm moving to Arizona. 107 would suit me just fine.

Deb, It's Madras, oj, cranberry juice and vodka. I justify it by saying it's my fruits :smug:

Woodfrogs, Oh how I love those Ritas. I did order some sf margarita mix off the net. Pretty good. Need to re-order. Have fund in SF. I have always wanted to go there.

Chris, WTG on getting day one of that exercise pledge in. Hope DS gets better soon. How about some jello or pudding for DS.

Jecrites, you need to get those markers/crayons that only color on special paper. That was really sweet of that lady to send a gift with the pan. THere are good people in this world. That is a great picture of you. Very pretty.

sLAPPY, Welcome to our board. We have several Candadians here that can help you with products. As far as meal choices, you are only limited to 3 starchy carbs a day (cereal, brown rice, ww pasta, ww bread) other than that veggies and fruits are your normal serving size 1/2 cup. 2-3 fruits a day. The book says to fill only the inside rim of your plate and don't go back for seconds. This is much better than Atkins (in my opnion) as this is something you can do for the rest of your life (where people tire so quickly of Atkins). Ask any questions you may have. Someone will help you. You get lots of support here.

Monet, It doesn't seem that you are too happy with this job. Maybe you should rethink it. Enjoy your nap.

JackieO, When I first started nothing would make me cheat. I was so determined. Then a little cheat would happen and then more, it got harder and harder. I am like you. Fine during the week, but this summer was hard with all our socializing. Then After vacation I knew I had to buckle down and get moving on these last 10 pounds. You just have to find some determination and most of all decide what you really want. To lose that wt or eat those doritos. I think we really need to make a big effort to think before we eat.

Country, as soonas I figure out how to make that scale nice, I'll fix yours. You know there is a little button on there, but then we would only be fooling ourselves.

Fillise, glad to hear from you again today. Just keep it up. I'm off to check out that article.

Have a great evening. See you tomorrow.

Ok, for anyone interested... Here is a pic of the place we stayed at this weekend. The Winshape retreat center is on Berry College's Campus, and operated in cooperation with Chic-Fil-A, via the Cathy family. I believe Truett Cathy attended Berry, but students who work for Chic-Fil-A restaurants can get a nice scholarship to Berry... anyway... the place used to be a dairy farm for the college. As you can see, its gorgeous.

Just some replies.

Deb, Sorry I didn't smile. I had taken a few before that one and was smiling, but you couldn't see my eyes! Granted in the one I posted they were red, but when I smile they squint up and look like little slits. No I don't think I've seen the picture of the baby with marker on it, I should probably have a few of those myself since the kids like to color on everything except the paper. Hope you start to feel better, being sick is the pits.

Monet, Man you boss just won't quit will he? What a butt. Sorry he's that way, I wish it were easier for you. Some people are just born jerks and he sounds like one of them. What a beautiful place!

JackieO, Autumn is 4. Luckily it was washable markers she had, so a little water and the marks came off the sofa. She has some of those that will only mark on "special" paper, but nooooooooo, she wants to use the real deal and color everything. It could be worse though, it could be a permanant marker or an ink pen and on the white walls where it won't come off at all.

Country, Thank you.

Jack-k, She's got some of those markers that color only on special paper, but the little turkey wants the regular ones! Thank you for your comments on my picture, I hate myself in pictures, I try to stay out of them as much as I can...LOL.

Hello all:

Just got in from running some errands; it's still too hot out there! I just found out that my daughter's class is having "Muffins for Moms" on Friday for the first 30 minutes of class. They are making the muffins for us, so there is no way I can't eat it. I'm gonna have to just eat it and then get on with it. What a way to start the weekend, eh? I will try to feed some of it to my youngest DD, and that way I won't eat it all.

Wood: Have fun in San Francisco. My husband had a seminar there when I was about 8 1/2 months pregnant so I wasn't able to go; it's somewhere I'd love to see. Sounds like you did fine with your eating over the weekend.

chrisd: So sorry to hear about your DS; it does sound like hand, foot, mouth disease. It's gotta be soooo painful. I get canker sores in my mouth due to trauma, such as a head butt by youngest DD, or by biting my cheek, etc, and it really hurts for awhile. I can't imagine having a mounthful. I hope he feels better soon!! I only worked out one day last week since I couldn't take sick DD to the gym with me. I hope to get there 3-4 times this week.

jecrites: How sweet of the lady to send a gift in the cake pan for your daughter. You'll have to leave her some positive feedback. So nice to put a face with a name! I still have to get a picture of myself on here.

Slappy: I would, of course, recommend SB since I am here. I did Atkins and it was not the healthiest or best choice for me. If you do SB, I would recommend the shopper's guide as it tells you the forbidden foods, as well as the foods that are o.k., as well as some name brands too. It is only less than $4, and is an awesome tool. As far as serving sizes....usually the palm of your hand is a good guide, unless it is salad, and then you can have lots of it. You don't want your food to go over the sides of the plate, unless it is salad. As far as bread, if you can't find any without sugar, then make sure that sugar is far down in the ingredients label, and that each slice has less than 3g. I hope you join us and we look forward to hearing from you again.

JackieO: We will beat these weekends. I usually do o.k, just over on legal stuff....I don't know what happened to me this weekend. I heard a story over the weekend about Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They were talking about this so-called "healthy" fruit and yogurt parfait that McDonald's sells. they said it has 380 calories -vs- a Krispy Kreme, which only has 200 calories. Not that we will be indulging in those Krispy Kremes, but now know that if we do it's better than the yogurt:lol: .

Country: I made your lasagne this weekend again....yummy! Did you eat breakfast today?????????

Jack: It is so easy to find excuses instead of taking responsibility for our indescretions. But, I am going to start owning up to it; maybe rewarding myself with something (non-food) at the end of a 3-4 week period that I stay 100% OP. Have a great day!

Well, better run get some stuff done around here!

Have a great day!

Hi, everyone. Sorry I've been MIA for a couple of weeks. It sounds as if most of you are doing great.

Deb, stay well. You're too important to us to get sick!!

Fillise, I'm going to try your soup this weekend, if not before. It sounds great. Would Pinto beans be okay to use instead of black beans?

I saw my doc last week for a check up and told her I'm on SB. She said she had heard SBD was a good program, too. She didn't know much about SB, but when I explained the basics to her, she approved. Now I just have to restart it AGAIN! My motivation seems to be hiding from me.

Today's kind of a bummer day. It would have been my 36th anniversary if I hadn't gotten a divorce in June. I think I'm feeling some anger because things did not have to be this way. He just simply refused to make some simple changes (like staying at home at night!). Oh, well, it's the first day of the rest of my life, right?

DEB...Haven't seen that movie yet, but after reading what you had to say, I might leave it off the list. Glad you've got your chit

I grated some cauliflower and put it in with some sauteed onions and fresh garlic....man is that stuff good! I had to add a touch of water when I cooked it because I didn't want to add any more oil. I could honestly eat the whole head. But of course my family might not like it if I didn't share. I have two chickens roasting in the oven with potatoes. They will enjoy the potatoes and I'll enjoy the chicken. If I can just stay away from the skin...like I will. :)

(((Libra))) Praying for you as you go through this new season in your life. I can only imagine the place you are at now. My divorce came after 10 years and shattered every dream I had had. But God is good and I have an awesome huband now and new dreams. I'm so sorry for your anger and pain.

Poncho...hmmm breakfast...does a couple swigs of soy milk count? Nay....it lasted one day. I just don't want to eat when I first get in from walking. I feel like I'm starvin like Marvin and go straight for my coffee and water. But I still get in three meals worth through out the day. :)

Monet...how beautiful. Reminds me of a castle.

Susan, hand me that brush! LOL

Jack-K.....ooooo I want some chocolate :) I don't have the answer on whether it is okay or not. My mom shared this 0 or 1 carb dark chocolate bar with me the other day....it was soooooooo good. I made it last three days. And trust me this was a tiny bar.

Off to check on dinner.

Love,
Crystle

Deb and BOB, I'll see if I can get another picture with a smile to post this weekend. Sorry y'all didn't like it, but you'll see that when I smile my eyes go to slits. They have always done that, and I always got in trouble for smiling "too big" in my school pictures. I never thought I smiled "too big" but evidentally my mom did.

Happy Monday everbody,

I made it through the day ok. I was a little hungry because I haven't quite figured out what to snack on during the day. Hopefully after a few days I'll just get used to it and won't HAVE to substitute snacks. Tonight I'll be going out for Monday Night Football and will certainly cheat with beer, but it's the one bit of slack I have allowned myself in the name of trying to stick to this. At least it's Mich Ultra, I'm not having my normal Amberbock

I went Wild Oats this weekend and they were having a Buy One / Get One sale on their chicken sausages (no sugar and only 7 grams fat each), so I picked up a couple packages and will give them a whirl on Saturday while tailgating before we face the mighty Gators. I guess I will eat them on the fancy Sugar Free bread I found at Kroger.

I've got a question about chocolate. How do you know what % cocoa it is? Does it say it on the label?

Jack-K, Where are you sitting for the UT game? Our season tix are in the endzone next to Nich Road. I found some bread at Kroger this weekend after a TON of looking. It's called Healthy Life Sugar Free. Not sure if it's good by it self, but as PB&J it gets the job done. And I certainly hope the CATS don't have a big head after beating a team that's probably going to go 1-11 this year...

chrisd, glad your son is feeling better! What did you think of Warren Sapp's little booty dance in the endzone after he caught that TD?

Talk to you later

Hey it just dawned on me that I have never put my name on here. I've always been into the big anonimity thing when it came to the computer, but since you know so darn much about me, as well as my children's names, I thought I'd start posting mine as well. My name is Natalie, and I go by Nat a lot, so that is probably how I'll sign from now on.

Question for Deb or anyone else who can help me. I was trying to post a picture of the girls that I have on my computer that I took with my digital camera. It said that the image was too big to put on here, but I'm not sure how to edit it while I am on the 3FC website. I know how to do it when I am in my Kodak program, but wouldn't know how to transfer it from there to here.....any ideas? THANKS A BUNCH!!

Libra: Sorry this is such a sad time in your life; that sure is a lot of time to spend with someone when it ultimately doesn't work out, but as you said, it's time to move on, and you now have many years to do with your life what you want to do with it. Good luck to you, and God Bless.

jdawn: I know that the chocolate that I buy lists the cocoa content right on the front. The kind that I buy comes in 77%, 70% & 65% (It is called something like XXXXOOOOO). I get it at Wild Oats, and I can look at it if you need the exact name. I have had a hard time finding it at other places that list the cocoa amount. Good luck; it is a nice crutch to have around, and no sugar alcohol; just the real stuff.

I really do have to run now!

Talk to you all later,
Nat

Ellen

PANCHO: If your picture is too big, just minimize the 3FC window, and open up the picture in your photo editor. You can resize it with most programs, and if you can set it to read in pixels, you will know when it is less than 500 x 500. Then save it as a new picture. I usually add the word less to the end of the file name, so I don't lose the original. Once you save it, check the size on your file listing, and make sure it is less than 52KB. Switch back to 3FC, and make your selection again, using the smaller file. I do it like this all the time.

JDAWN: Most chocolate does list the cocoa content in %, but some doesn't. Just read the label, all over, and try and find it. On some brands, it is in the ingredient list, on others, somewhere else, and some even have it in nice big letters on the front label! Lindt makes 70, and 85%, Sharfenberger makes a 99% even! I have found 70% by Cote d'Or, Rapunzel, El Rey, and a few others whose names escape me right now. (Getting old, I guess! But I do remember the taste of the chocolate, if not the name! ) If you can find the Sharfenberger, even the 99% stuff, it is the best I have found! Absolutely divine! Hmm, I may have to go find some pretty soon here...

JECRITES: That was really nice of the lady you got the pan from! It kind of warms my heart to think about how many nice, decent people are out there! I know how you feel about pictures of yourself. I feel the same way. I hate them! I always stand in the back and try to get as little of me in as possible in group shots. <shudder> Since I usually have the camera, I can usually avoid being in the picture!

DEB: Did you try to call me on Saturday? Tom said someone called that they said their name was Debbie. If it was you, I am sorry he did not give you my cell phone number. It would have been one more incentive to stay on program if you had called my up there! As it was, I did pretty well. I told everyone around me that I could not eat sugar, white flour, etc...and they all were checking up on me! Sunday morning, when they served only fruit and iced cinnamon rolls, another lady and I went out to McDonalds and found some protein for breakfast! I should have requested the diabetic meals...next time I will!

JACK: What brand of chocolate did you end up with? You sure stay busy, with all those games, weddings, etc.! I wish I could drink a bit...but with my medications I can't have ANY alcohol! I have not tried to have some anyway yet, just to see what would happen. I am a bit afraid it will make me sick to my stomach, and I would rather give birth than throw up!

Hi All...sorry I have been AWOL. Computer at work was down and we've had to use my home computer to get things done. It's been wild. Not sure I can catch up with all the posts...

I've also hit a plateau with my weight so I'm trying to shake up my system some. I read the Curves book this weekend and am following their Phase 1 plan which is basically Atkins. Just going to follow it for awhile. The interesting thing about the book is he says that once we reach goal he can help retrain our bodies to eat normally. It's pretty interesting. Deb it may be that answer we have looked for on how not to rebound our weight.

Well have to run but wanted to say hi!

Oh, Gator and Bob...way to go Rocky Top ;)

Thought I would post one more picture from the Berry College campus. Berry was started as a school for the mountain children by Martha Berry, an heiress, who was moved to see them educated, and taught skills to help them earn a living. All students at Berry work. Many of the buildings on campus were built by students, some with bricks made by students as well! This mill has one of the largest water wheels in the country. It was built by students. The mill is only operated on special occasions now, but it used to grind all the meal, and grits needed to feed the students attending the schools on the campus. There was a high school, middle school and elementary school, as well as the college. So, here is the mill:

Well the saga continues with DS. I called the Dr. again today cause he really looks pale and his gums are still all red. Still didnt eat anything today! Tomorrow will be a week of this. Again she said we just have to wait it out. Not sure how much more I can take...its soooooo frustrating, especially because he hasnt eaten in almost 6 days. He starts to eat and he wants to eat, but as soon as he starts chewing he realizes it hurts and spits it out.
The stress this week has really made me just want to eat! I havent given in to the urge but Im almost there.

DEB - How ya feeling????

BOB and JDAWN - Yes LOVED the dance. I was cracking up! They called it the "pogo stick" and thats exactly what it looked like!

JACKIE - Thank you! YEs I have tried Jello and pudding..and just about anything else cold and soft that you can think of. He doesnt want any part of it. Tomorrow is another day I guess.

PANCHO - I asked the Dr. today about H, F and M disease. She siad it could be and even if it was there is pretty much nothing that we can do about it but wait it out. Not what I wanted to hear. As far as excersise goes...I HOPE to get a full 5 days in.

COUNTRY - Once it starts to cool down over here, I am definitley gonna start walking. I used to all the time and it really helped. For now, I will continue the gazelle until it cools down...by then maybe I can do both in a day. I hope the scale is better to me next week. Maybe I should wait 2 weeks.

JACKI-O - Thank yoU!

Did anyone watch that new show Las Vegas???

Hey all-- sorry but this has to be another short post. Spent the day with my Grandma. I just love her so much. Mom is gone, and my Aunt Sheila is staying with Gram, but need to go to town and run some errands, so I volunteered to sit with her. She makes me smile, and feel so good!

The weekend was so so. Hubby worked yesterday, so I cleaned house and did laundry. Have to take the kitty in tomorrow for her booster shots, then would like to get some baking done but will see.

Hope to have more time tomorrow. Take care, and know that I am thinking about you all.

Oh honey, my heart's breaking for DS and you! It WILL get better. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it will. (did they diagnose what it was?) Just don't give in to eating bad because of the stress. I know how difficult it is. It was a week before my DS would eat anything. He wanted to eat and I even got him a Happy Meal to try to entice him, but it was just too painful for him.

Here's hoping that today is the magic day for your DS!:crossed: :grouphug:

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

Well, part of me wants to go out and walk and the other part of me, the sick and achey part says not to push myself. I'm tired even though I went to sleep early and I probably should just stay and give my body a rest but my mind is telling me I need to get my arse out and pound the pavement. What to do? Well, as long as I sit here and type, that sorta gives you an answer.

ELI is off today, still asleep, no clue what time he came home last night. Not sure what the day is going to entail, maybe a new microwave finally?

Going to get in some replies before I find the morning gone and me out of time...

MONET, nice pics, thanks for posting them-very picturesque! Is there anything that can be done about the way your Mgr. is handling things with you? Umm, I think I called, but other to than to say hello, I can't remember-maybe a question on baking was on my mind, but my mind is gone now!!!

CHRIS, should you possibly get a second opinion with DS? Something should be able to be done? I read something that canker sores can be a result from certain toothpastes-could this be a possibility with NICHOLAS? Come to Miami anytime, you're always welcome!!!

JACKIEO, I don't know if this helps, but when I was in NC in April 2002 at that point, I hadn't cheated on SB but maybe once, with a bagel and some blintz souffle, nothing major (started March 2000) Well, I bought a brownie mix and made it and some slacking in my brain allowed myself to eat it and since then, I haven't been able to stay OP like I used to be able to do. I can go weekss and weeks but eventually I seem to have a major binge and it's not a one day affair, it's a weekly thing, at the least. Sugar to people like us is like a drug and we have to think of it as such. We detox, but once we get even a small taste of sugar, our bodies remember and we crave it - like a crack addict I'd say, not that I've ever tried crack! ;) It's possible that these other foods you're eating is leading you more astray than you realize. It's a vicious cycle! Just hold your ground and learn from others mistakes. It may take you a long time to rid yourself of those last 20lbs, it took me from Feb to June to lose my last 10, but you can do it and all the while eating healthy. Put into your thoughts what I would say about Hershey's, but instead use Frito Lay - Hershey's was around long before I was born and probably will be around long after I'm gone and they are not going bankrupt without me eating their chocolate. You'll do it-you don't want to follow in my foodsteps!

COUNTRY, you are starting your week off with a bang - I wish you lived closer!!

FILLISE, thanks for posting that link to the article. Okay, when you make your bread in the bread machine, which flour are you using? Any books you like with recipes that would be SB legal? Any tips???

JACKK, if the cocoa content isn't listed those bars aren't okay, but the one you found for 70% is. I love the Lindt 85%. There's a store near me that has the 70% for like $1.59 I think-unheard of price! Enjoy it, in moderation, of course;) Drink sounds yummy!

JEC, I can understand about smiling and feeling you look like you have slits for eyes. It can't be THAT bad when you smile. You can see you would definitely have a beautiful smile.:D I wish I could find a picture of that baby-you'd not only die laughing but be able to relate. If I can ever find some time I'll try to find it somewhere on the web, it has to be out there!

LIBRA, glad to see your post, was wondering what had happened to you! I'm sure things will get better in time after your divorce. I went through the same thing, my kids Dad wasn't a bad person, just after time there was nothing between us. I'm glad I went through all I did though, now I have ELI. Of course, all men have their problems and many days I feel like I can pick a booger better than I can pick a man, but then I think I'm no prize most days myself!!! What plans do you have for your birthday on Thursday:hat:

BOB, I was def. thinking of you when I saw TN winning on Sat when I flipped channels. Def. a movie you'd NOT want to see!! Any good ones you've seen lately you'd like to recommend?

JDAWN, sorry I wasn't around last week to give you a better welcome, I'm usually all over the place, so please forgive:) I see you are in Lexington - do you and JACKK live near each other? They must have the same ads in your WO that we have down here. Some really great buys this week! Yes, the chocolates with high cocoa contents will state it on the labels. If you can find LINDT, CHOCOLOVE, RAPUNZEL look at the labels and it will state the cocoa content on there-of course, there's lots of other brands, but these 3 I have seen at the WO down here.

PANCHO, I have a Kodak camera as well and haven't figured out how to actually use it much. If you can reduce the bytes that's what you need to do, if not, you can e-mail me the pic and I can try to load it up on my FTP site and post it for you. Hopefully, someone else is brainy and can give you some decent pointers.
Chocolove is the chocolate you are talking about - this stuff I know about;)

BEACH, I have the book from the library, got it a couple weeks ago but haven't gotten far in to the book. Will have to look around it more and see what you are referring to. You've been doing so well with your loses your body is just needing some time to catch up.

TEENSY, it's so nice that you have such a great relationship with your GM - makes me think about the great times I had with my fav. GM BETTY. Like the time I had my bacholorette party at a male strip club and she was right there in sitting at the stage-hadn't seen anything like that and the smile on her face was priceless!!!!

Well, as you can see, I didn't walk. I think I'll go climb back in to bed with that nice warm body that's in there;)

Will check in later!!

Good Tuesday Morning.

It is going to be a beautiful day here, only in the mid 70's. :flow2:

Did get my walk in, cut it short. We walked up to the grocery to get some stuff to put in a goody box for some servicemen that DH's company is sending off. So since we were carrying bags, we cut it short. Did get my wt training in to. Man by the time we walk, eat dinner, work out, fix lunches, the night is gone and I'm ready for bed. I have tons of ironing to do, anyone interested?

Found a manicotti recipe of the web, so made it last nite for tonite. Something different anyway. I just love it when I know what I am having for dinner every night and what I am wearing to work everyday. That is a good week. Doesn't take much to excite me.

Monet, what a beautiful place. The mill is simply beautiful. What a great place for meditating. I bought Repunzel 70% choc. DH said yesterday that my candy bar was still in there, like I was supposed to come home and devor the whole thing. I told him I would only be eating a piece at a time when the mood hits. Choc is not by downfall. I'm not supposed to drink with my meds, but it hasn't affected my livr according to my blood work. I never drink within 24 hours of taking the methotrexate. Mostly just weekends anyway.

Jecrites. You're not alone, I don't know of many people who do like pictures of themselves. I always hide.

Pancho, are you getting lots of rain from Marty? Take care. Good idea on the reward for being OP.

Libra, glad you have come back on board. Sending good warm thoughts your way today. It must be tough but perhaps you are better off.

Bob, did you wear orange to work today???? You're gonna have to get Kate and Skeeter yelling on Sat for the Cats. I don't think we'll pull that one off. I didn't buy the Lindt bar, I bought Repunzel. It was the only one that listed the % of cocoa.

Country, was the cauliflower raw? Then you just sauteed it in olive oil with onions and garlic? Between you and Monet, you may turn me into a cook yet.

Jdawn, I'm not sure where are seats are, but will check it out and let you know. I hope they are ready for this game, but I really don't think we'll win. I tried those sausages this Sunday at Wild Oats. They were pretty good. I had the Italian ones. They had green onion too. The bread doesn't have to be sugar free, just no more than 3 grams of sugar. The Wonder Bread is really good. Try matching those beers with water and that will help. DH never gave up his beer and he still lost 35 pounds, but he is a guy and you know how that works.

Beach, sounds like you are busy. What is the name of that book? Drop in when you can.

Chris, your poor son. I hope he is drinking at least so he doesn't get dehydrated. You have held off the stress eating this far, you can make it.

Deb, I think I would make that same choice this morning. You still might get some exercise :D

Need to get busy here. Be back later.

Good Tuesday morning all:

My weight is holding steady. I had a better day yesterday than I did over the weekend. I had a few little no-no's but not enough to count for anything.

My fat.....hmmmm.....let me see if I can remember:

Pot pie - 10 grams
2 Taco Bell chicken soft tacos (their site says 5 grams each, but I replaced the tortilla with my own, so not sure how many) We'll just say 10 grams anyway
1 piece of cheesecake with the almond chocolate crust - not sure, but probably lots!
I think those are the most significant sources of fat I had yesterday....I will try to pay closer attention today.

Monet: Thanks sooo very much on the tips; I'm going to try it in a little while, and if not, I'll send a picture to Deb to post for me. I'm not too good at this computer stuff. The pictures are beautiful; thanks for sharing. I'm glad to hear you had a great time.

jdawn: The name of the chocolate I get is Chocolove. It is delicious.

chrisd: You feel so helpless when your child is sick and there is nothing you can do! Can you give him a popcicle to numb up his mouth enough to get some other food down? It's so easy to get frustrated with them, but they are so helpless. When my 14-month old was sick last week. She had a sore throat, stuffed up nose and a stuffed head. She kept trying to reach down her throat with her hand and was hitting her head with her hands. It was so sad. When she woke up at night, I would go in to hold her, and she was so miserable, she would hit me, kick, scream, pull my hair. She was not herself at all, and couldn't even express how badly she was feeling, in words. I was tempted to lay her down and let her cry it out, but I knew she really wanted the comfort and companionship, so I would hold her until she settled down and fell back to sleep. It's gotta start to break soon; he's been sick a week. Try to get your exercise in; it will help you with the stress! Hang in there!

Teensy: So glad you are enjoying the time with your Grandma; these times are priceless. I am sure you make her feel as good as she makes you feel.

JackK: Way to get that exercise in! You are such an inspiration. Manicotti sounds great. We haven't seen any rain from Marty yet; they keep promising. We'll see in the next few days.

Well, I'm gonna try to go post a picture of my girls. I will check in later.

Good morning everyone. As Mr. Rogers used to say, "it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood." I got through yesterday and today is a new day.

Country, Pancho, Monet, Deb and Jackk, thank you so much for your good thoughts. This is such a supportive board and I'm glad I'm back.

Monet, your pictures are beautiful. We have an old mill here is North Little Rock that is very similar in appearance to the one you showed us. It was even used in the opening scenes of Gone with the Wind. A lot of brides have their weddings there in the spring and fall.

Deb, two of my friends are taking me to supper for my birthday. I've already decided what I'm having - grilled chicken salad. It's yummy! Did I read that you and Eli are not married? I'm seeing a man right now (for 7 months) and while we love each other, the longest range plans we have right now are for next month. We are just taking it a day at a time and I doubt it will ever be more than it is right now. I'm no where near ready to even think about remarrying and he's been a widower for only 17 months. He was a caregiver for several years prior to her death, too. We both enjoy our own space and usually only see each other on the weekend.

JackK, I'm sorry you're not closer. I actually do enjoy ironing. To me it's one of those things where you get immediate gratification. You can see right then what you have accomplished and freshly ironed clothes always smell so good. I just put in an old movie and the job goes by much more quickly.

Better get to work. Have a beautiful day everyone.

Quick check in...

ELI went to KMART and SYMS to return a shirt so I thought I'd get in a quickie before he comes back to pick me up...

JACKK, yes, ummm, I did get some sort of exercise in this morning:s: Don't think I'll post it on the exercise board though;) Funny how one doesn't feel up to walking but when it comes to other things...

PANCHO, which of the CHOCOLOVES do you buy? I love them all, but they are hard to find down here, which I guess, for me, isn't so bad. I do have a few bars in my stash box :)

ANGE, I always tell people not eating enough is just as bad as eating too much. You have to eat otherwise you won't lose like you should. Wish I lived closer, would love to come to your garage sale!!!! Oh heck, would just love to come and visit period! As mentioned to JACKK above, I did happily get in a little workout;)

LIBRA, sounds like the perfect thing, go out with friends for your bday! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourselves. Yes, you are correct, ELI and I aren't married though everyone thinks we are and those who do refer to me as his wife or he as my husband, we don't correct them usually as we feel as if we are, after so many years we might as well be! Some days I'd love to be married, others I think it's just a piece of paper and other days, if he's pissed me off I say no way, but deep down I love the old fart and can't imagine living without him for a second. I think the way you are approaching this new relationship is good, no need to jump in to anything, esp. not these days:)

Okay, I better go get dressed, if he comes back and I'm not I'll never hear the end of it!!!!

Toodles

Good morning everyone! Not that its good over here. What a horrible night with DS. He was up from 230am - 430am. Not to mention I didnt go to bed til after midnight and was up before 7am. I am exhausted and very dizzy this morning for some reason! I will see about working out later. Right now I cant even think about it. I was able to look in his mouth with a flashlight and I have to say it may look like they are getting a little smaller.

DEB - I had a second opinion on Friday. thay said the same thing...all I can do is wait for them to go away. Plus I was on the phone with his pediatrician yesterday for 10 minutes..and she said again...just ride it out! I read that about toothpaste or brush also. It could very well be from the toothbrush! We have to fight him every night to brush...so maybe in the process it got irritated. Funny how I was GOING TO name him Nicholas...but decided to go with DOMINIC! ;) Hope you feel better soon!

ANGEL - tried pedialyte, 2 different flavors, he hates it and refuses to drink it. He is drinking now though...just not eating. They gave me med. to numb the mouth but Im lucky if he takes it once a day. He was beter in the beginning of the sickness...now I just think hes over the whole thing.

ZANNE - Im glad someone can relate. Its horrible...he really does want to eat too. Today he ate 3 bites of a waffle and 3 bites of jello. Thats the most I got in him all week. He asked for some cheerios, so I gave him a little but that didnt go over too well. Too hard I guess.

JACKIE - yes he is finally drinking enough, not nearly what he usually drinks...but its something.

PANCHO - I cant even tell you how many popsicles I have thrown away this week. He starts to eat it and then says 'yucky" I know he doesnt mean that, cause he LOVES popsicles..its just that it bothers him. Helpless isnt even the word these days. I just want this OVER already!

Have a good day...talk to ya later!

Guess what I lost 2 more pounds and I did not cheat. My Daughter called me and told me she started weight watchers, and wanted me to know she lost 2 pounds on her 1st week. I was real happy for her and I guess I am her friend to call, and help her stay on track. I laughed as she only lives 5 miles away, but with 2 kids 15 and 8, she is a busy single mom. That means I found out that Dad (that me) get all the phone calls to fix this , or Dad lets go to lunch, then I know I am for a big job, like wallpaper her bathroom , 3 weeks later put a new facuet in that newly wallpapered bathroom. What are Dad's for if their little spoiled brat can not still get her way. I would not trade her or my grandkids for a million dollars, and thats the truth.

Any way my work is keeping me going 10 hours a day, so I will close for now.

We were able to to get in a good walk last night and this morning. The weather is the bomb! It's only in the 70's right now. It will warm up to the upper 80's...perfect walking weather.

Jack-K...I sauteed the onions and garlic...then added the raw grated cauliflower...stirred it till it soaked up all the oil and added a touch of water. I cooked it till it was barely done. I just finished the last of it for breakfast. It was even good cold...LOL

ChridD...praying that your little one will start feeling better and better soon. Hope you get a chance to take a nap today.

Monet...what a cool picture. I've never seen a water wheel that large before.

Deb...sorry you aren't feeling well. Praying you feel better soon. Wish I lived closer too. It would be nice to meet you.

SuperDave...I'm glad you are there for your daughter. I had a super dad..no pun intended. God took him home way to early. :)
But I have a wonderful step dad who treats me like I'm his own. Congratulations on the 2 pounds!!!!

Marilyn...glad today is brighter than yesterday. ((hugzz))

Ange....I hear ya. Some old habits are just hard to break. You sound like you have your hands full. How long till the move?

Poncho....you do good on the fat...I do NOT...:)

Teensy...glad you are having this special time with your grandma.

Gott go...Robert fixed the dryer belt for me yesterday so I can catch up on the last of the laundry.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

I'm still here! Well, I've been badddd! And of course, I'm paying for it now. I actually stayed legal over the weekend but ate wayyy too much. Then I woke up puffy yesterday and was in a funk. I figured if I gained weight from staying OP on the weekend then I would just eat what I wanted yesterday! Well, of course that was stupid!! We went to Barnhills(buffet) and I ate mashed potatoes and gravy, macaroni, and 2 pieces of cheesecake. I'm really puffy now and too scared to step on the scale. I don't know why I sabotage myself like this. At this rate I'll never get below 180. No one to blame but myself. But don't worry, I'm not about to go on an eating binge and pile on a bunch of weight. I'm back to my senses now. Funny- I seen a couple of people over the weekend who just raved about my weight loss and how I look "like another person"- you would think that would keep me on track. Anyway, not much going on. Yesterday was only in the 70's - pure heaven for me. Today is back in the upper 80's. Can't wait until the 70's are a sure thing. I love Fall. SUSAN- You know, I missed the dateline special! I really wanted to see it. Next month will be Boogie's 1 year anniversary of his last surgery. They did the taping while we were there last year in Philly. Some of my "heart" friends didn't like the special because it didn't portray(sp?) what parents really go thru and their heart kids during major open heart surgery. You know, it's not just have surgery, spend a few days in the hospital and go home and everything is grand. There's such an "ugly" side of it. It's hard hearing that your child won't probably make it, or spending months in the hospital and you go home without your child. I will never understand the suffering of a child. On the other hand, these children change our lives so drastically. You appreciate life in a new way. Since Boogie has been born, I've seen so many heart kids pass away. It makes me count my blessings and know that Boogie is a pure and true miracle. I can't begin to explain it, but even friends of ours say there's something about him that you can't put your finger on, but you're just drawn to him. Sorry to ramble on..

Hey--this will be short as I have a meeting in a few mintues, but I wanted to check in. It's gorgeous and cool here--fall arrived right on time ! (Hint: cool in Alabama means low 80s and no humidity).

I can't beleive how many people posted yesterday. I posted twice and still can't keep up!

Heart--I think the special wanted to be uplifting, but I can see how it really doesn't help people like me really understand the anguish of the parents. But you have educated us on the board, so I felt like I was rooting for you and Boogie as I was rooting for the family on the special.

Deb--If I have the wheat montana that's all I use. Otherwise I use ww flour (King Arthur White) and ww pastry flour Hodgson Mills). I posted the recipe on the board a while back, if you can't find it let me know and I'll repost.

About the soup--I think it would be great with whatever kind of beans you want. I think you could also add a ham bone to the navy beans to make it really yummy!

Got to go--will try to get on again tonight!

Well, not exactly bored but avoiding the rest of my chores. The laundry is all caught up, dishes are clean, soup is done for tomorrow and the meat is cut up for supper. It's amazing what you can do with leftovers. :) Last night we had the roasted chicken and tonight they are gonna have chicken a la moma out of it. And I made the most wonderful garlicy soup out of the bones.

Quick question about the King Authur White Wheat....is it the same as using the brown? I've been afraid to buy it since it was white. My family doesn't care for the brown wheat but I bet the white would fool them if it was just as healthy.

Heartmom....sorry you had a bad day yesterday. You will get out of the 180's. A couple days back OP and all the puffy will be gone.

I guess I should sweep and just be done with it. It's just one of those days where I want to do something but not what I'm suppose to. Do you ever have days like that?

Be encouraged and know that you are the best you there is out there.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Worked today...the new asst. manager was there. The sanitary inspector came in today. It was a very picky woman. We don't consider anything under a 90 as passing, though 75 is average. If a department scores less than 90, everyone gets written up. The deli manager was pretty mad. In 12 years with the company, she has never scored lower than 90- she usually scores close to, or perfect 100s. Today, she got lower than a 90, and was not pleased. I have no idea what the bakery got. My boss was off today, as usual. He has missed the last 4 inspections. Makes you wonder if he has some inside information.... After work, I met two friends for lunch. It was one's birthday yesterday, which is why we got together. I had eggplant parmigiana, which was pretty good. Their pasta is homemade, so I did eat the little bit they served with the eggplant. A friend of my daugther's is the kitchen manager at the restaurant, so he came out and talked with us for a few minutes. I would like to take a nap, but I am expecting my daughter to call for a ride. I can't imagine why she is so late!

COUNTRY: If the King Arthur white wheat says 100% whole on it, it is fine. I get Wheat Montana brand white wheat, which is a bit of a misnomer, as it is more golden in color. Their name for it is Prairie Gold, and it is much lighter than the red wheat they also sell.

FILLISE: When do you want to come over? I hear Harry's has a new shipment of Agave. Do you want me to pick some up for you when I go to get some?

HEART: You will do fine...at least you take two steps forward, before you fall back one! Get back on the wagon and I bet you will drop the gain pretty quickly!

SUPERDAVE: That is so nice that your daughter can rely on daddy to help her! There are some things that are just guy chores..you know? At my house though, wallpapering is my job! I love doing it! Painting is ok too, but then, I am an artist, so that kind of stuff feels like fun to me. Now, installing ceiling fans, and mowing grass, those are man jobs! ;) Way to go on the 2# gone!

Susan- I really appreciate it. Seeing an HLHS child living and thriving is wonderful. I was just shedding some light on the parts that TV won't show. I will be thrilled when the day comes that compassionate care is no longer an option for HLHS. Compassionate care is doing nothing-no intervention, letting the child pass away. Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome is 100% fatal without surgical intervention. Unfortunately, there are still alot of docs that think HLHS isn't a good quality of life. They haven't seen Boogie playing with his hotwheels and running thru Walmart! But the good thing about the show is that it's getting the word out about congenital heart defects, the #1 birth defect and killer of infants under age 1. People simply aren't aware of the seriousness of it. The more awareness the better. Before Boogie, I didn't even know what CHD stood for let alone HLHS.

Time to go home, just wanted to catch up.

Pancho, great idea onthe popcicle.

Libra, I'm glad you have someone to share your life. I can't ever imagine going through life alone. Good idea to take it slow and enjoy each day. I really don't mind ironing, but it is when I start, I dwell on how much I have left to do. Of course, I do that with everything I do, exercises, etc.

Ange, Gotta eat to lose.

Deb, I'm with you on that "other exercise". I'll take it any day.

Chris, Hope both of you can finally get some rest.

Dave, Congrats on the 2 lbs. and to your DD too. My dad could fix and do anything. He also go to eat anything we didn't like too.

Country, thanks for the recipe. I just might try it. Sounds like you got a lot accomplished to me. Whew!

Heartmom, I'm gonna half to come over there and kick your butt. You made it through the weekend and then blew it. Hey we all are only human and screw up from time to time. Don't beat yourself and go on with it. Just don't let it happen again :D You will be fine. Miracle babies are special.

Fillise, slow down girl, smell those roses.

Monet, have a great night. Take a nap.

Good luck to everyone on the scale tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to it, it has been up each day this week and I have been OP. Hormones?? Who knows.

Have a great evening.]

Hey all, good afternoon. Beautiful fall day here. Cool and fresh smelling in the morns, and 70's in the afternoon.

Bill hit a deer with his car last night. He is okay, but the car is not. He said he came around a corner, and she was right there. Good thing he was going as slow as he was, or he could have been hurt. They are all over out here, so he knew to be driving slow. He said he is not going to do anything with it for now since he is leaving Saturday.

Took Kitty in for her booster shots this morning. She sure didn't want to get out of her travel crate. Must remember what happened to her the last time I took her there!! Now she is done for a year.

Here are a few replies....

Deb-- If you aren't feeling well, I wouldn't push with the exercise. Sometimes it may do more harm than good. If you are achey all over, I think you should probably rest today. You know my GM would be right there too. When she gave my wedding shower, she is the one I got the sexy nighty from!! Love that woman!! Just read your next post......any exercise counts!! :o

Jack-k-- Sounds like it is a good week for you. Eating is OP, and you are getting in your exercise. WTG.

Pancho-- I sure hope that is true. I know that she just hates being held back like she is right now with her leg. So if I can bring her any little bit of joy, it would surely make my day!!

Ange-- Boy you sure have a full plate right now don't you?? When will you be moving??

Libra-- Good morning to you!!

Chrisd-- Sorry ds is still having a rough time. It is so hard to see our little ones suffering when they don't feel well. Hang in there "Mommy" ((((hugs))))

Superdave-- WTG! You are melting away!! Sounds like you and dd have a great relationship. I had that with my Dad too, I sure miss him.

Monet-- The pics are fabulous. Love the mill....looks like it would be lovely to spend the day sitting beside it on the banks of the pond.

Heart--Sounds like you are having a rough time. And that you are being even rougher on yourself. You know how this works, and why....so you know that you are ony hurting yourself in the long run. Please, don't get discouraged and give in to your emotions!! You can do it, look how far you have come!!

Fillise-- Nice to see you posting again this week. I have been making the WW bread every week using the undiluted apple juice. We both enjoy it, especially toasted!!

Well that is it for now. Will stop back in tonight.

Wow, it worked. Those are my two beautiful daughters (Delaney - the baby, and Brittany - the big girl). You wouldn't believe what I had to do to get that on here. I had to e-mail myself a picture and save it to transfer. There is not an option in my Kodak to adjust the size of a picture; the closest you can do is crop, but it comes up monster size still. I will try to get a picture of myself on here one day soon.

I volunteered the first hour of my DD's class today; it was hectic but fun. I then went to Babies R Us and Wal-Mart to get some baby-proofing stuff.

It's a littlle overcast here...anxious to see if Marty makes it in and brings us some rain.

Deb: I usually buy the 70% or 77% pure chocolate. They were out once so I bought the 65%, and didn't realize I grabbed the one with cherries and almonds in it; it was delicious. Most of the time I just get the plain ole chocolate.

Dave: Congrats on teh 2#! You are such a sweet dad!

Hello to everyone I missed; I gotta get going on dinner as I have spent FOREVER getting this picture posted. At least I know that there is a way!

Take care all!

Hi all,

Thanks to everybody for the chocolate tips. The jello sugar free pudding is just NOT getting it done!

Hope you had a great Tuesday. I did well today, but I did have a piece of cake. I don't like people to know when I'm dieting because I've failed so many times before, so it just seemed easier.

I went off the pill starting this cycle in anticipation of trying to conceive some time next year (after some of this weight comes off). I'm charting my cycles (temps and stuff I won't go into here - for the comfort of any males here) which is interesting. I'm hoping that going off the pill will help with food cravings, too.

Pancho, thanks for the chocolate tip. I go to Wild Oats on the weekends. If I can't find it, I'll ask for the exact name.

chrisd, I really hope your son is feeling better. Have you thought about a second opinion? Whoops! Just saw that you did. Sorry it wasn't any more informative... I didn't watch Las Vegas, my TiVo is full as it is. Was it good?

Jack-K, thanks for the heads up on the sausages. I have high hopes. My husband is interested b/c they are lower fat than regular sausages. He's a runner (actually did a marathon!) so he's occasionally interested in health.

angehaley, good to meet you. i don't really have a problem with the drinking leading to eating, though the mozzerella sticks I had last night at BW3's might say otherwise. I tend to smoke when I drink, but that's going be illegal here pretty soon (political subject I'll stay out of until I know ya'll better) so no worries.

Oh well. Good luck at weigh-in!

whoa! Monet is not feeling good tonight! The tummy is protesting the lunch I ate. Not sure if it is the lunch, or some virus. Everytime I think of calling in sick to work tomorrow, I start to feel so good- so I am trying really hard not to think about it. :s:

Dinner tonight was a small bowl of shredded wheat, and a glass of milk. So far, it has stayed down. I hate having any kind of stomach trouble, so I hope it continues to stay down.

My friend at work who started SB about a month ago had her official weigh in the other day. She lost a total of 16 pounds in one month. She is thrilled, and I am so proud of her! Its especially exciting when you are the one giving them guidance!

I am going to hop into bed soon, so I wish you all sweet dreams!

PANCHO: Cute kids! They look so sweet!

Hi all,
I have been AWOL. Sorry.
I have just had so much to do that posting on the board has moved down the list of priorities. I'm hoping that after this week things will ease out a tad. I will be speaking this weekend, so won't have that responsibility hanging over me after this week is over. I do have 2 French papers due next Thursday, along with a mid-term exam on Thursday. Since I will be gone this weekend, I am studying frantically and writing frantically now, so I won't be doing stuff last minute next week.
My DD and I take a study class on Wednesday nights which I really love. There is no grade for that course, thank goodness. I usually go over to her house and we cook a quick meal together and then eat and run to class.
Next week I am starting to mentor a 12th grade girl at a local h.s. It should be interesting. She got behind in her English classes and is now taking both 11th and 12th grade English this year. That's a lot of English. I'm hoping that something I can do will be helpful to her.
Anyway, I just wanted to check in and let you know I'm alive. Might not get back on till next week. Hope sooner.
I'm still rockin' along with the food. Eating in the neighborhood of 1200-1400 calories daily, along with tons of pills of various sorts to get my metabolism up and my thyroid fixed. I feel like I "eat" more pills than actual food! It's just a month of doing this, but I will be glad when it is over.
Talk to you later.

Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY Morning!

And I do mean morning! I've been up since 2:15am. I lied in bed for an hour, tossing, turning, sneezing, listening to the rain-finally had enough and decided what better time than now to come and post on the board - surely no one will be asking for the computer to do homework now:rolleyes:

ELI and I had a nice day out together, nothing exciting, just running in and out of stores - no microwave though, no time. Maybe later today after I do some things for my parents.

Last night I made, for the first time, ww pita bread - turned out great tasting but need work on the forms. Will definitely try it again. Made baba gannoush that was delish!

Was so pist last night. We have had a problem for years with the power going off for split seconds (reason why the a/c went last week) and they came out and put on a reader to see if they could see that what I was saying was happening, which it did. Since they took it off last Monday (the 17th) it's gone off, that I know of, about 4-5 times. Last night 2 times in a two-hour period. I was livid! I called and complained both times - it's bound to blow something else, probably my fridge as it acts up each time this happens!

Going to dive in to replies while the morning is still young...

CHRIS, OMG, I'm sorry, where was my brain when I said NICHOLAS? Let's blame it on the cold;) I've heard you say DOMINIC over and over, how'd I come up with the other? Would of been better off just refering to him as DS! Glad to hear the sores are getting a bit smaller. I guess with a second opinion now you at least know you are doing just about all you can with riding it out. Sorry you didn't get much sleep either - as you can see, I can totally sympathize with you!
Will call soon!

DAVE, CONGRATS on your 2lb loss:bravo: That's great news. Ditto to your DD! That's nice that you not only have a good relationship with your DD who knows she can depend on DD for so many things, but also that you are so handy!!!!

COUNTRY, who knows, maybe one day we will meet up! Pray to feel better and get some sleep, I'll take either one at this point:shrug: THANKS! Yeah ROBERT for fixing the dryer!! Yes, you can use the white ww flour. It has a lighter taste than the brown one and your family probably won't notice it as much.

HEART, just knowing that you are still here shows that even with these binges you will overcome whatever setbacks you go through and come out victorious in the end. It just may take a little longer, that's all, but at least you catch yourself and don't gain back a ton of weight that you've already lost. I think just about all of us can relate and understand what you're going through, I know I can!

FILLISE, I thought you can't use ww pastry flour in a bread machine. We don't have the MONTANA flour here, though I wish I did. Maybe I'll have my parents p/u some if they hit Atlanta on their way home after NC next month.

MONET, I just LOVE good eggplant parm! The best was Italiani's, but they've long ago closed:( The wheat Montana you buy, is that a stone ground ww? See my note to FILLISE above-LMK so I can tell my parents what to buy if they come through there. Hope you are feeling better today. CONGRATS to your friend, that's a great loss!

JACKK, I'll take that exercise any day, night, hour, minute - anytime!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

TEENSY, thank goodness DH wasn't hurt. How bad is the car? So, is it like, if you hit a deer it becomes dinner somewhere down the line? When you said "He said he is not going to do anything with it for now since he is leaving Saturday." I didn't know if you meant the deer or the car-or both!

PANCHO, you are right, 2 beautiful daughters! Thanks for sharing the pic with us, and glad you got it to work! I don't think I've ever tried the ones with the cherries, but I have tried the one with the ginger and though I don't really care for ginger, it was pretty good. Even with the cherries it was 65%? That's pretty good! Looking forward to seeing a pic of you soon.

DAWN, when I started SB I didn't tell anyone for the same reasons you haven't told anyone-totally understand!

GATOR, glad to see your post. After reading your post I don't think I can say that I'm so busy-you, that's busy! Good luck with your exams, as well as everything else.

Well, as I come to a close, it's not even 4am. I know I'm up for the rest of the morning. If it hadn't just rained I'd probably try to go out for a walk before taking the kids to school, but I think I'll wait til afterwards, safer. Geez, my sister just signed on - must be a family thing today!!

Will check in later - GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL FOR WIW!!

HELLO EVERYONE! Please allow me to introduce myself. Some of you might have a vague memory of me. My name is Quilter Kim and I am very ashamed of myself. Ha!!!!! Hi Girls!!! Well, I got the old "Where the **** have you been?" from BOB, so I figured I'd better show my face before my name gets changed to MUD.

I hear from BOB that good things are happening around here that the pounds are falling off you people.
WAYYYYYYY TO GOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Contrary to popular opinion, I have been sticking to the program. Also trying to get used to my ibs meds and figuring what works best for me. So my eating has been really, really good. On Tuesday night I weighed in at WW at 179.4. The day before I weighed in at 177 at the doctors!!! She told me my highest weight on her chart was 209. So needless to say, she is so full of encouragement to keep on working.

So I've missed you all like crazy. I have been pretty busy. Then trying to figure out how many christmas presents I can have time to make. Started knitting again and have been working on those projects a lot in the evenings.

Take care you all.
Want to post this before I lose it.
Hugs to all you BIG LOSERS!!!!!

Morning Again (as I drag my arse)

Got tired around 6am but no way to go back to sleep, had to take kids to school, of course. Threw on my house dress, figured I'd come home and try to sleep afterwards, then at 6:30 I got a burst of adrenalin it seemed, threw on my walking clothes, took the kids, came home and got in my 4.5 miles. Tired, you bet, but happy and tired:D

LAUREN tried the pita this morning, liked it a lot. Consensus says that this would make a great pizza crust, so we might just have to give it a try!

QUILTER, glad to see your post, glad BOB did my dirty work without asking, guess she was reading my mind wondering the same thing, where the heck are you!!! Glad to hear everythings all right - don't stay away so long, would you - even a 2 minute quickie is better than none:)

I have more to do than I thought today so I'm going to get ready for the shower and start on my day. I won't be home til after I get the kids, which means I probably won't be able to get on the computer til tomorrow:shrug: If I can, I will:)

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning to everyone. It looks like I have a lot of posts to catch up on today. This board is hoppin .....
Things are much better for me food wise. I am back on track with both eating and exercise. Last night, I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a copy of Dr Phils's new book about weight loss. I really like his no nonsense approach and the way he makes everything a choice. That is what keeps me accountable and also keeps me from having my pity parties "If only I didn't gain weight like everyone else", and nonsense like that. I also like what he has to say about fear. he says that some people have a fear of not failing, because when they fail they can make excuses why they did. He believes that people have a fear of not failing and becoming thinner and then not having anything to latch on to (fear wise). I don't plan to follow his "diet" plan, but was more interested in hearing what he has to say about the psychology of weight loss and food. I am very into that. You would think with my profession that I wouldn't need this and could take the advice I give...if only that were so easy.....

Debelli- Sorry to hear about the insomnia. Sounds like you are doing a great job with all the walking!

Quilter Kim- I am new to the board and looking forward to hearing from you more often.

SuperDave- Congrats on the weight loss. (and to your daughter) It always helps when we have someone supportive of us trying to lose weight at the same time.

Chris- I hope your son is getting better!!!

GatorGal- That is really super about you mentoring the high school student. What a fine role model you will be. My second job is academic tutoring, which I have done for the past 8 years. I absolutely love working with the kids.

Jack K- it sounds like you are still doing fantastic by staying on plan and exercising.

Monet- I sure hope you feel better soon. I hope it was your lunch causing your tummy to hurt and not unnecessary anxiety compliments of your boss!!! Hang in there.

To everyone else, HELLO...talk to you all soon.....

Good morning everyone...well there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. Dominic had a few bites of Mac and cheese last night and this morning he ate a bowl of cheerios, and now eating a cookie. AHHHHH I thought it would never end. The sores look SOOO much better...the one on his left cheek is almost all gone. Thanks or all your support through this ordeal. Its nice to know I can come here and vent.
I didnt do any excersise yesterday, if I can Im gonna try today...if not then maybe tonight. I have a very busy day today so Im gonna try. At least my eating has been pretty good. Even though i only ate 1000 calories yesterday.

Happy WIW.

Hope the scale is good to everyone today.

I was very disappointed with mine. I was up 3 pounds and don't know why. TOM is due next week, but that doesn't usually bother me, at least not this much. Have been OP since Sat and exercisng like crazy, but it keeps moving up. I may get a new battery tonight for it. It seems slow in coming on. I doubt that that is the problem, but who knows. I think I need a good laxative or something (TMI).

Everything is starting to go wrong here so I better get busy.

Teensy, it is amazing how much damage a deer can do to a car. Glad Bill was not hurt.

Pancho, your DD's are beautiful. You sure can tell they are sisters.

Jdawn, Your second paragraph about why you ate the cake really hit home. Whe I started this WOE, I had done every diet in the world, (just like everyone else). Of course they never lasted. So when I started this and my friends found out, I was determined that I would not fail so they could say that I had quit yet another diet. I think that was the biggest motivator for me. I was not going to let my friends be right. So if I were ever going to cheat, it would not be in front of my friends. I still don't. So next time, prove to them that you are going to be successful this time. Be proud that you are doing this and doing well.

Monet, hope you are feeling better today. Tell your friend Congrats on her 16 pounds.

Gator, good to hear from you. We thought you were staying away so you wouldn't have to face BOB> I'm sure you will be able to help that child.Good luck with your exam and paper.

Deb, I can't beleive you were able to walk today. Iron woman! Oh, I sent you a surprise.

Kim, I about fell out of my chair. Just this morning I was thinking that I was going to look up your email and send you a note. I thought you were gone for good. I sure hope you can find time for us more. COngrats on the new wt. I know you are excited.

Jackie O, let us know how you like the book. I was thinking about getting it too. Do you happen to know the place in NO that serves the ww pizza? We are coming there next month and I wanted to go there. I thought it was in the book, but I loaned mine out.

Chris, glad DS is better and is eating. Each day he will get better.

Congrats to all the losers today!

Good Weigh-in Wednesday. I am up 1.5 pounds to 124.5, but totally deserve it the way I've eaten the past 3-4 days. I am back on track today and even got to the gym early this morning, and have already consumed 32 ounces of water. So here's to a great day.

I have my Mom's Night Out with my Mom's Club tomorrow evening. Everyone is bringing a dessert, so I have to make some zucchini bread so I won't eat anyone else's stuff. Even if I have one slice too many of the zucc. bread, it's better than the stuff most of the people will bring.

One question I keep forgetting to throw out....why are grapes legal and raisins not? They are the same thing? I always think when I am eating grapes that they taste sooo sweet. I looked at one of my DD's small boxes of raisins today and noticed that there was no sugar added, but the raisins alone in that little box had 20g of sugar.

JackieO: Thanks for the compliment on my girls. I, of course, think they are precious, but that's because they are mine. Dr. Phil's book sounds interesting. Out of curiosity what does his diet plan entail...low fat, low carb....???

Jdawn: Good luck with your attempts to conceive. The name of the chocolate bars are Chocolove! They have a lot of different kinds.

Monet: Hope you are feeling better today!

Gator: Hello! Glad you are keeping your eating on track even though you are busy, busy, busy!!

Deb: So sorry to hear about your power problems. I hope you don't poop out too early today; you've been up a long time already. Yes, the cherry & almond bar was the 65% chocolate cocoa content.

Quilter: Glad to see you back! Congrats on the weight loss; it sounds as if you are doing fantastic.

Chrisd: So glad to hear DS is on the mend....hallelujah!

JackK: You do look beautiful. Sorry to hear you are up a few pounds today; hopefully it is water weight or due to TOM, and will drop back down soon. You've been working hard, and don't deserve to see the scale go up. I've been kinda naughty and do deserve it.

I hope you all have a great day. I hope to check in later this afternoon!

Take care,
Nat

Well, I'm down a couple of lbs but they are lbs I've already lost several times. I am making a commitment to myself to stay with this plan and lose this weight!

I saw Dr. Phil's show yesterday when he was interviewing some of the people who want to participate in his wieght loss challenge. One of the questions he asked was "when was it you decided to be fat?" I don't know about anyone else, but I don't remember ever "deciding" to be fat. At one point, he asked the person to pretend he was them and tell them what they thought of themselves. I was shocked at the negative chatter that went through my mind when I imagined telling myself what I think of me and my lack of control over food. JackieO, I plan to get his book, too. I've heard enough about it and read an excerpt in Oprah's magazine to make me want to read more. I've noticed his favorite catch phrase is that "it's time to get REAL" about whatever issue he's discussing. I guess it's time for me to get real about being healthier and taking care of myself instead of coasting through life not really living it to the max.

Sorry, I guess I had some things inside I needed to get out. Thanks for listening.

Jack-K you are so beautiful. Your face is so thin!!!! Those scales are just being goofy. You'll have those pounds off before you know it. You daughter was also just beautiful. You both look so happy. Thanks for sharing your photo.

Libra....how interesting. I don't think I ever chose to be fat. I've battled weight my whole life. That is an interest way to look at it. We were talking about it while walking yesterday...I would give my eye teeth to be naturally thin. I hope to get the book one day.

Hey skinny...yeah that you Nat...((hugzz)) Your girls are precious. You'l drop those pounds before ya blink. :)

ChrisD...praise God your little one is feeling better and starting to eat. I know it's so hard when they can't.

Good morning Jakie-O. I have missed everyone of his shows so far and I really wanted to watch them. When 3 rolls around I usually forget it's time.

Deb...sorry you are still feeling poorly. I don't know how you do it dragging your booty out there when you are feeling so badly. I was dragging some major behind this morning and I wasn't even ill....just drained.

Kim!!!! Good to see you. You are doing great on getting that weight off. It's a long way from 177 to 209!! WTG

Monet....man, I hope your tummy feels better.

jdawn....how cool! Praying for you as you go through the process. I hope it helps with the cravings also.

Gator....hope the pills help and your metabolism is corrected.

Off to eat some more of that soup I made yesterday.

Love,
Crystle

Well, I know I’ve been MIA again, but time has just turned into a very sparse thing in my life these days.

I haven’t made much headway with the weight but am determined to get back on track.

Those of you who know me will remember how upset I was when my Mother re-married last year (only 1 year after my Dad died), well she came to her senses and KICKED HIM TO THE CURB a few weeks ago. I have been biting my tongue as much as possible on the “I told you so’s” (not that she would ever bite her tongue for me) but I was definitely right about that LOSER! He was living off her and supporting his grown/married/useless kids and lying to Mom about it. Come to find out, he even lied on the pre-nump by not listing all of his debt. He has MUCH more debt than assets, but he’s not worried because he has insurance that will pay it off if he dies – my question is – What if he just gets sick?? …. He’ll lose everything he owns and then where will his totally dependant grown kids be then??… No sense at all – He’s an idiot.

My little guy, Tyler (6), is playing fall baseball and he has become one huge slugger (especially since he’s only 40 lbs soaking wet!). He loves it. He also has started Kindergarden since I’ve posted last. He is doing pretty well and likes school, so that’s the best I could hope for. He has been in trouble for fit-pitching and telling lies at home for the past few weeks – NO FUN. He seems to be going through a phase right now but I think he is starting to figure out that MOM is going to win and then only way he will be allowed to do anything fun is to stay in my good graces.

My big boy, Justin (11), has decided to play trombone in the band this year. Their school doesn’t have a football team, so they just perform at special events. He’s also showing the first signs of puberty which scares me to death. He thinks he’s all grown up and I’ve had to remind him of the pecking order several times since school started.

No time to reply individually, just a big HELLO to all :)

Gotta run do some work -

Break Free from Your Food Rut

If you’re trying to lose weight (or just eat healthier), it’s time to climb out of your rut and give some new foods a try.

By Nutricise nutrition expert Stephanie Gillis, M.A.

(Nutricise) — The last time I visited Graceland, I learned that the King and I shared a similar habit. No, I don't use my TV for target practice, and sequinned jumpsuits just aren't me. I was disturbed to learn that what we had in common was actually an eating habit: we're both "streak eaters."

What is a streak eater? It's when you eat the same food or meal day after day after day. According to Priscilla, Elvis ate meatloaf for dinner every night for 8 months. I once ate the same dessert (Weight Watcher's chocolate chip ice cream) every night for 14 months straight. If Elvis was the king, I was the queen of food ruts.

Now, streak eating isn't the worst thing you can do to your body (Elvis' fried banana-and-butter sandwich wins that one hands down). But if you're trying to lose weight or eat healthier, then it's time to climb out of that food rut.

What's the problem with eating the same foods every day? Boring your poor taste buds to death causes them to crave more food because they can't get no satisfaction. More food equals more calories, which equals larger jumpsuits.

Even when it comes to healthy foods, eating the same ones every day means that you're shortchanging yourself nutritionally. Having cereal and a banana for breakfast is great, but not if you have it every day. Good health comes from eating a wide variety of foods because you need a wide array of nutrients to be healthy. If you're wondering if you can replace those missing nutrients with supplements, the answer is no. Research shows it's not just vitamins and minerals that help prevent disease, it's also the phytochemicals (translation: chemicals from plants, not pills) found only in fruits and vegetables.

How do you know if you've fallen into a food rut? If you've been eating the same food or meal every day for more than a month, then you've attained streak status. Busting out of a food groove may not be easy, but it is simple. Start slowly. Changing a well-established eating habit overnight usually doesn't last long. Set a goal of making one change a week. So have your cereal and banana six days a week and on the seventh day take a rest. After two or three weeks, you might look forward to your day off. At that point, you're ready to increase the number of streak-free days to two a week. Your food rut is officially over once you're eating new foods three or four times a week. You don't need to say good-bye forever to your favorite foods; you just need to add some variety.

Since that Graceland tour, I've become a recovering streak eater. Yes, sometimes I miss the simplicity and comfort of eating my Weight Watcher's dessert every night, but I know by mixing some new foods in with the old I'm doing my body good.

Good Afternoon,

Didn't think I'd ever get back on here. Got pretty busy for awhile.

Have lots of errands tonite, card shop, Home depot, gas, grocery. Somewhere in there I have to walk and work out and make pizza dough for tomorrow's dinner.

Pancho, good planning on taking the bread to the Mom's night out. Don't know the answer on the raisens, other dried fuit is legal (I think). At least you have some room to be naughty, but just don't let it get out of hand. That nasty wt has a way of creeping right back on us.

Libra, I think we are the hardest person on ourselves. I'm sure everyone would have negative things to say. Heck even after losing 100 lbs, I still don't have nice things to say to myself.

Country, thank you for the sweet words. As I was telling Deb, my smile is so bad (years of thumb sucking) so I always try to fake one and it always comes out worse. Unfortunately DD favors me and suffers with wt problems too. I wish she would do something, but you can't make someone lose wt.

TV, glad to hear from you again. Sounds like you are keeping those boys in line. Gotta be tough.

Ange, just wait to that little girls gets bigger and you have all those toys. They make for good yard sales. Congrats on that 1 lb. We all are right there with you on losing and regaining. Good article. I don't think I streak eat.

Have a great evening.

Jack K- There are so many good sugarbusters friendly restaurants here in the N.O. My fave places for ww pizza are Rocky's and Louisiana Pizza Kitchen. YUM YUM. We are definitely the city known for eating....just have a good plan in mind before you come. If not, it is like relapse central!!!!!!

GOOD GAWD IT'S HOT AS A THREE PECKERD GOAT OVER HERE ON THE WEST COAST OF FLA TODAY!!! There is NO air stirring at all!

TV....I knew you'd be back JUST IN TIME FOR THE NEW TV SEASON!!! I'm so glad my TV buddy is back...I've missed you!
Glad you're Mom finally saw the light! She'll be so much better off without him! AND the I told you so's don't have to be said, she knows without you even muttering a word!

Did ANYONE catch the new show NCIS last night? It is definately the BIG HIT of the NEW SEASON!!!

BB4 FINALE TONIGHT!!!! DON'T MISS IT!!!!

JACKIE....OH...MY...GAWD!!!! You really do exist!!!!! Both of you are very pretty! Good to put a face with the typing!

CHRIS.....OH.....MY.....GAWD!!!! to you too ....and new little BUC FAN!!! Good luck!
Now, I've stayed out of this diagnosis thing with your little boy.
I now have to put my two cents worth in! I think it's (and excuse me if this isn't spelled right) impetigo....kids get it from the dirt and there is a medicine that isn't really attractive, but it works....it's purple and your Doc will have to write a script for it, but I PROMISE it will clear it up!

I also want to get the DR PHIL book. His plan doesn't endorse any one diet...that's your choice, but his focus is on the inner problem that led you to and keeps you overweight. I've been watching his show on this from the beginning, and I admire him for what he's doing. I don't look at it as his trying to make money off his book at all. Everything that he said to those people yesterday was the gospel! I know....my Doc has said them to me.
There is a book available in the self help section of book stores
entitled....It's NOT what your eating, it's WHAT'S eating you!
IF you can get it at your local library, get it and read it...it will open your eyes to a lot of things!

Sorry that I can't get to everyone today...BUT, I'll try to do that another time....IN THE MEANTIME.....

Nice pics of your kids Poncho! And Jack-k- it's nice to put a face with the posts. You look great.

Okay, I'm feeling a bit bummed. Actually, I've been in a mental rut for awhile now. Daughter didn't help either- a weight loss commercial just came on and she was like "hey, Mama..." We had a long discussion and I got out the pics of me 2 years ago and she asked who that was- I told her it was me and to lay off the comments about my weight. She's been making comments here lately since hanging around with anorexic Christy. It's been really hurting my feelings and I let her know it today. I already have poor self image without my DD adding to it. I hope tomorrow I will feel better mentally. I haven't exercised since Friday! I just feel blah. I'll get back in the swing of things. At least I'm eating legal, but too much. Not much else to report, hope everyone had a good WIW. I'm still puffy so I'm not stepping on the scales and adding to the "funk" I'm in.

Hey All:wave:

LAUREN is across the street, MICHAEL in the family room, so for the moment I'm going to try and get in some replies before I hear the usual cry for the compter...

JACKIEO, you'll have to fill us in on some of the other interesting things you read in the Dr. Phil book. I get loads of books from the library about dieting, weight, etc. just to see what people say. Nothing is ever new really, but sometimes the way the words are put makes that light bulb go off in the old noggin;)

CHRIS, glad to hear DOMINIC is feeling better today, I'm sure this is a relief, for you AND him! LOL:lol: At least you didn't chalk my faux pa up to age! Darn, I wish I could have a work out like yesterday every day - there'd surely be a smile on my face on a daily basis:D But alas, most days it's walking:shrug: Send me the pic of DS and I'll try to crop it and return it to you to post.

JACKK, again, thanks for the pic. For some reason, when you post it on the computer it's not as good an image as what you actually see before posting it. Oh well:shrug: Don't worry about those 3lbs, you know with all you've been doing it's not a fat gain, probably will lose it just as mysteriously as you gained it.

PANCHO, the reason between the grapes being okay and the raisins are not are due to the sugar concentrate. A serving of grapes would be about 1 cup/92 grams, the GI for grapes is about 46 and it has almost a 15% sugar count-not even a gram of fiber. Raisins, a .5 ounce serving/14 grams has 42 calories, a little over 8 grams of sugar and a GI of 64. Now, if you were to ask me, I'd say, if you wanted to eat that .5 ounce serving, which is just about 25 raisins and it was once in a while, I don't think it would kill you, like if you wanted to put them in a cookie, or something of the sort. BUT, if you were looking to fill up your tummy, I'd say 1 cup of grapes would be more filling than 25 little raisins - that tiny box, heck, I can down the raisins and the box in one shot! Not sure if this helps, but I try;)

LIBRA, if I was asked when I decided to become fat I would have to say it was unconsciously in vitro.

COUNTRY, you have all rights to be dragging even though you aren't sick like me - you've been putting in major miles for a while! I don't know if I'll be able to be so good tomorrow, we'll have to see.

DAVE, will have to see if the library has gotten in the copy of that book yet-let us know what you find interesting in it.

TV, glad to see your post:D Sounds like DM came to her senses. Thank goodness it didn't take her years and years. I hope it doesn't get too messy. Can it be anulled? Sounds like the kids are doing well, despite the trials and tribulations of growing up. You'll get through it, puberty and all-at least that's what I keep telling myself with my teenagers!!!

ANGE, CONGRATS on your loss this week, even if you lost and gained the same one over and over, a loss is a loss, so take it and run...Never have taken melatonim. I'm usually not so bad but once I get in to a rut like this it takes me some time to get out of it. I'm hoping by staying up all day today and in to the evening that I'll sleep like a dead person tonight, if I don't, I'm going to be in major trouble tomorrow. Wish I could come to your garage sale too - darn it. Oh, I'm definitely a streak eater - thanks for posting that, it had my name written all over it! Okay, just saw your pics - girl, you are beautiful! What gorgeous pictures - hey, DH is a hunk too! THanks for posting them - as always, it's so nice to put a name and a face together. Need to get them on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD as well so they can be kept in our archives. Can you get the other pic bigger????

BOB, I know I won't be calling you tonight!! Three peckered goat, girl, they have some mighty strange animals from where you came from!!!

HEART, do I need to come over there and slap you around a bit to get you out of that funk? I think you need a trip to the DD-tell DH to send you for Xmas!!!!

Okay, my time is up, MICHAEL just came in here, perfect timing!

Will check in later or tomorrow. GOing to be watching BB4 tonight - will root for JUN instead of that nasty ALLISON:devil:

Hello all:

Marty brought an overcast day, but no rain. I'll take this overcast to the sunny days we've been having anyday! I don't think it broke 85 degrees today! I've done pretty well on my eating today. I ate a slice of zucc. bread on my way to the gym, and then had some yogurt with flax meal when I got home. I had a few Triscuits with Laughing Cow lite cheese and then had a chicken taco salad without the shell for lunch, plus three bites of my dd cheese crisp (I know....).

angehaley - glad I got on today to see your photo album;) . You made a pretty bride, and the "biggest" picture of you doesn't count...you have to find one to send when you were big and NOT pregnant (ha). As far as the moms, I haven't really done much, but don't expect much support tomorrow night, especially since it is a dessert gala. I don't mind though. If they want to pick me apart for doing so well, it is only due to their own insecurities.

JackK: That weight does creep up on you and I've been doing pretty lousy, so I'll use tomorrow nite to test my willpower that I once had soooo much of. I will eat a big dinner before I go, and bring my own little dessert, and s/b fine.

heart: Why do kids start so early with the weight stuff? Maybe you should limit how much time your daughter spends with this woman if she rubs off on her like that. Although, it's everywhere...on t.v., magazines, etc....Sex will sell anything. I was looking at a magazine the other day, and my 5-year old asked my why I was looking at it when all it was was "fancy people." Try not to let it get to you, and take advantage of this opportunity to teach your daughter that outer appearances don't tell us about the person inside, and what is inside is the stuff that really matters. She would be proud of your weight loss and your continued efforts if she were old enough to understand. Cheer up.....you've made great strides.

Deb: Thanks for the info. on the raisins. It was pretty much out of curiosity, as I prefer grapes to raisins anyway.

Well, I better go get a few things done around here, and try not to eat anything bad before dinner.

Take care all!

Good evening all--- WIW was not good to me at all.....I am up two back to 166, now what is that about?? I did weigh in alot earlier than I normally do because I had to get going this morning. Maybe tomorrow will be better, hope so.

We took a trip down to my oldest son's place to pick up youngest son's pickup, so that he would have something to drive after hitting the deer. Don't really know why he needed it, he is leaving Saturday anyway. Oh well, guess he just didn't want to feel stranded at the folks.....haha.

Deb-- It was my son that hit the deer. He had gone into town to pick up something.....and hit it on the way home. He is leaving Saturday to go back to the ship. They start on loading their supplies on Monday morning and he has to attend a meeting Sunday afternoon. It is going to be so quiet around here again. I meant he wasn't going to do anything with the car. He has his pickup to drive, so he will think about what he is going to do with the car. It is a 1985 Honda Civic, which he bought from his brother. It has a lot of miles on it, but runs great. Good for running around because we are out in the boonies, so it gets good gas milage. Hope that you get some sleep tonight. Too many days like this will wear you out completely.

Quilter-- Nice to see you again. Sounds like you have had plenty to keep you busy. So have you been able to get the IBS under control??

JackieO-- Glad to hear that things are going better for you. I have heard good things about Dr Phil's book, those that like him anyway. I don't watch him so I have no opinion one way or the other.

Chrisd-- So glad that DS is on the road to recovery. Guess it just had to run it's course, as the Dr said. Now you can get back on track!

Jack-k-- Believe it or not, you are just as I pictured you, a very beautiful woman! And you have a gorgeous daughter. Just before I started SB, I gained 6 pounds for no reason, I was so pissed. I ended up doing the Atkin's fat fast, and lost it, but it was not worth what I had to go through for those 10 days. Just drink lots of water, and keep doing what you are doing....it will go away. I am sure it is fluid retention. Hang in there.

Pancho-- The Mom's night out sounds like a great idea. Wish I had one of those when my boys were little. Could have saved me a few grey hairs! lol. Have a good time.

Libra-- We are here to listen anytime you need us. That is what makes this such a great board to come to. You people have made a big difference in my weight loss journey, and in my life. I hope that I can help others as you people have helped me!!

TV-- WELCOME back. Hope you will join us more often now. Sounds like the boy's are enjoying the start of the school year.

Ange-- Glad to hear that you are down this week, alas.....I am not. But it will pass I am sure. Maybe getting close to TOM, just don't know these days when he is going to decide to show up. Used to be very regular, but am getting older...... It was my youngest son that hit the deer, not my hubby. Yes, it is sad to see them laying along side the road. I feed apples to them during the winter. We usually get a line of them coming down the road about the same time everyday. Hubby bought some pea pellets last years. They loved that!! And what a sight to see, 3 pm every day there would be about 7 of them coming single file down the middle of the road to our lot so they could eat.

Well gang, hope to see you all later tonight......

Hey All:wave:

Thank goodness, I was worried there that maybe ALLISON would win BB4 but thank goodness it was JUN. It was terrible that she didn't say thank you to anyone and no one congratulated her - saying nothing says a lot. Neither of them deserved it but someone had to be the winner and I think the lesser of 2 evils got the dough.

Gonna get in a few replies...

ANGE, love the pics, all of them. When were these taken? Have to ask you, what is your background? You have an exotic look about you, very pretty.

PANCHO, I love those LC cheeses but rarely buy them, just sorta forget about them, thanks for the reminder, will have to get some when I go to the store next time. Does your old DD look like you? Trying to get a mental picture;)

TEENSY, so what became of the deer then? I remember once we were on a highway and someone hit a deer and people behind them asked if they could have it. Seemed pretty gross to me at the time (was a youngin') but I guess they figured that RK was better than KFC;) My DM has a Honda Accord with 205,000+ miles on it and it's still running!

FRUIT, I'll catch you one day:) I think we need to have a SB GET TOGETHER and converge on your house - what do you think? That way we can whip your *** in to high gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:s:

Okay, I am pooped beyond belief and am going to bed to sleep, or at least try to-shouldn't have a problem, I hope.

Hey everybody!

Hope you had a good weigh-in. I'm down 4lbs! Woo Hoo! I know it will slow down any second, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

GatorGal, that's awesome that you're doing the mentoring. I get SO close to doing Big Brothers / Big Sisters regularly, but I never quite make the jump.

Chrisd, glad DS is feeling better. Hope it keeps up!

Jack-K, here's hoping your scale is broken. Plateaus are the pits, as for your TMI, I'm not having that issue, but my mother who started the same time is me now considers Metamucil to be the cornerstone of a healthy breakfast. Thanks for your thoughts about the cake. Earlier yesterday this nice old guy I work with bought me a Pepsi and I FAKE DRANK it. You would have cracked up. I couldn't refuse it because it was so nice of him, so I kept lifting it to my lips, swallowing, and when he wasn't looking I set it in the trash and laid my copy of the WSJ on top...

Libra, your thoughts were interesting. Let me know how you like the Dr. Phil book. I, of course, don't remember "choosing" to be fat, but I guess we choose to every time we eat something that we know we shouldn't. It just doesn't FEEL like a choice...

Monet, hope you're feeling better. I secretly welcome stomach bugs for the lbs I lose, but I guess that's not really a good thing. :dizzy:

tv, I was in band in school and loved it. It will be great for your son!

JackieO, I will have to get tips from you before we go to NO again. Sorry, but I will have to have my Po Boy on Magazine street and my jambalaya at Old Coffee Pot, but after that I will be good...

BOB, I TiVo NCIS last night but haven't watched it yet. I noticed it has a former Dawson's Creek-er on there (an obsession I'll discuss later, I'm sure)

Thanks to everybody for your nice words about our slow journey into parenthood. The faster I lose weight, the sooner I can start baby-dancing for real!

Evening everyone! I did not get on here today when I got home from work. I just could not do it. I was SO mad, I had to get on the phone and vent to a few friends. The asst. manager is driving me crazy! She is obviously on a power trip, and was making me do things today that are NOT my job, just for the sake of pushing me around. She is afterall, the manager, so I was civil, but I told the manager I had a headache and left work two hours early. I had a BIG headache, and it was the asst. manager. I won't go into it all, since there is not space, but I am not the only one who is fed up. If it doesn't get better when I have to work with her on Monday, I will probably quit. I really liked my job until she came. What burned me the most was she was making me do work that is the job of the bakery clerk, and I am paid way more than a bakery clerk....and have no knowledge of the stock she was wanting me to work with. She could have done it herself, but she was piddling around doing nothing. After I left, the manager called my daughter to try and get her to come in to make stuff for the cases. Hello! What was the asst. manager doing all day? She is supposed to be a decorator, but got nothing done, but special orders? There were not that many, and the full time decorator scheduled today could have gotten them done alone! So, Monet may be out of work in a week! :( Sorry about the rant.. :rollpin: .but thanks for listening.

Tonight, we had small group and went to Fazouli's for dinner. I ate ravioli, and had several of their garlic bread sticks. They are NOT legal, so I was naughty. I also ate popcorn this afternoon. Somebody shoot me! I feel like I am going crazy! :bubbles:

Tomorrow morning, I have to teach class, so I need to get to bed soon. Sweet dreams everyone!

ANGE - I too, have been pretty lazy this week. Just been so exhausted.....great pics..its so nice to put a face to name

JACKIE - you too! :)

TEENSY - Im working my way back into routine, trying to at least!

Well off to bed....c-ya tomorrow

Deb-- the deer gets picked up by the game department usually. I think that only in certain instances does it get given to anyone to eat. If it is not taken care of immediately, it spoils. Plus the fact that shattered bone in the meat would not make it very edible. Yuk!! Don't get me wrong.....I love venison, and hunt with Dh every year. We usually bone out one for steaks, and if we are lucky enough to get the other one, we do German Sausage, and Summer Sausage.

Unfortunately, it has started to upset my stomach. I have had this problem before, and laid off coffee for a long time, and it went away. Guess I am going to have to go back to tea for a while! :(

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Thursday.

We are whittleing (sp) away at this week. 2 bosses are out today and tomorrow. Other one is in a tiff and won't hardly come out of his office. Men never grow up. So today should be a good day.

Did get all my errands ran last night and my exercise completed. It was 9:45 before I got to sit down. Didn't get anything done in the house, but it will still be there tonight.

Made my pizza dough. Tried a new recipe someone posted. It was rather sticky last night, but this morning it looked ok. I hope so anyway. We haven't had pizza in a long time. Looking forward to it.

The high here today is only 68. I am not ready for this cold weather so early. I'm coming to stay with Deb or Bob.

JackieO, thanks for the pizza tips. Are those places like in the French Qtr? The food isn't the problem there, eaxcept I'm not much on seafood, but it's those 3 for 1 drinks that get me.

Ange, what a beautiful lady you are. Loved the wedding pics. I really liked your cake.

Heartmom, You have done an awesome job and you should be so proud of yourself. Good idea showing DD those pics of you. She needs to learn not to say those things to anyone even her momma. Hope you are feeling better and perk back up soon. You need to take a look at those pics and pat yourself on the back.

Bob, where do you get those sayings? Not fromthe hills of KY I hope

Pancho, remember those ladies know you are dieting so you must be good so you can prove to them that you are doing a great job at it. I think I have a sick mind.

Teensy, sounds like we are having the same scale woes. I think we just need to stay off of them for awhile.

Deb, Hope you got a good night's sleep last night. Don't wear yourself out or you will really get sick.

Fruit, I've been wondering about you. Glad to see you back, hope you can stay put this time. Great win against Ga.

Jdawn, congrats on the 4 lbs. that is awesome. It will slow down, but slow win the race (to quote Monet). The scale wasn't broken, weighed the same with the new battery. Cute about the Pepsi. You need to tell everyone at work that you are doing SB, Then they will not bring you bad stuff and you will be shamed if you cheat. I'll try anything. Another girl in my office does SB with me, so there is no way I would cheat in front of her. I have to look like the bigger person (not litterly).

Monet, If you are that miserable, you should just quit. Work should be fun since we do it most every day. You shouldn't dread going to work. Life is too short. Maybe you should try your idea about being a nutrionist or trainer. Hope today is better for you.

Guess I had better get some work done today, even though I would rather play.

Be back later.

Jackie

Morning All:wave:

Got in from doing my 4.5 miles. Won't be breaking any speed records, that's for sure-no where up to any speeds I use to do, but at least I'm out there. Was a split second I thought about not going but I knew I had to go and not going was NOT going to be an option:nono:

Have some stuff to do today so have to get a move on. Of course, posting is always on my list to do's;)

ANGE, I did think you may be Italian, but I didn't want to assume - you do have an exotic look - must be the Polish part of you! I'm part Polish as well, not sure how much, but when I do daft things at times I chalk it up to my Polish part;)

DAWN, CONGRATS on your 4lb loss this week - awesome loss!:bravo:

MONET, I hope you find a resolution so you won't have to quit your job, esp. when you enjoy it. Is there anyone you can go to about this, a higher up?

CHRIS, send it on over, I'll be more than happy to post any pictures you may have to share:)

TEENSY, have to say, that's one thing I've never tasted before, venison - sounds so much more tasty a name than deer meat. I guess you can tell from my questions that I've always been a city gal;)

JACKK, I give you lots of credit for getting out and exercising as you do, after a long day of work, among other things. Many people use excuses but I don't see that with you:) Do let us know how the pizza comes out. I'm going to try one probably this weekend or next week. I really liked the pita dough I made and I can't imagine why it can't work for a pizza. When we had the pizzeria we'd take pizza dough and make pita out of it, why wouldn't it work the opposite way? Girl, come one down, the weather is hot, muggy and rainy - doesn't THAT sound appealing?

HEART, the pic you tried to post didn't show on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD, can you try again??

Okay gals, I'm outta here, at least for a few. Will be in the house for a while so will check in before I leave.

If I have time will try to post a new recipe or two today - it's RECIPE THURSDAY least you forgot;)

Good Thursday morning all:

I have a busy day planned. My DD has pictures today, so I told her I would curl her hair for her. When she is in school, I am going to come home and make my zucchini loaf for tonight. Has anyone tried the zucchini spice squares? How do they compare to the zucchini loaf bread? Also thinking about making Deb's cheesecake. I guess I better decide soon; I'm running out of time.

I was back down 1 pound today to 123.5. I can't stand those little fluctuations. I guess I should set a general guideline to stay below 125, instead of worrying too much about it.

Teensy: Sorry about the 2# gain; hopefully it is just water weight and will be gone tomorrow. Our bodies sure are funny when it comes to weight fluctuations. So glad to hear that your son wasn't injured when he hit the deer. I hope tonight turns out to be a good time. I really do need to get out once a month (at least). I really needed a night out last night. My DH didn't get home until almost 7P.M, and Delaney was cranky, and I was trying to get Britt bathed, dinner cleaned up, etc.... Needless to say, I left the dishes for DH to do when he got home:smug: . That'll teach him to get home so late.

fruit: Glad to see you. Stay here and we'll keep you in line:lol: .

Deb: Both of my girls look alike. Some people say they look like me and others say they look like my husband. My DH and I could probably pass as siblings though. We both have dark hair, hazel eyes, small lips, average nose.....pretty similar features. I will make it a goal to get a picture of myself on here in the next week or so. At least you got out there this morning....who cares about breaking any records! You could have stayed inside and been lazy. Question for you: I was reading over your cheesecake recipe and noticed that you mentioned doubling the recipe if desired. The original recipe calls for 1/2 cup agave, and you said if you doubled the recipe to use 3/4 cup.....why not 1 cup if you are doubling the recipe? Just curious, as I would definately double it to make the larger size. Thanks!

jdawn: Congrats on the 4# loss. That is fantastic. How much have you lost now?

Monet: As if you manager isn't enough to deal with. NOW you have to deal with a hothead assistant. I know that you probably enjoy what you do, but if you have to face that stress on a daily basis and you can afford to quit then I would. You don't need the stress in your life. It can lead to bad eating (as you already know) as well as bad health. Stress can really take a toll on a body. Good luck with the situation!

JackK: You make a great point for me to stay OP tonight. Everyone does know how hard I worked and it's obvious to all that I have lost nearly 30 pounds. I need to set a good example and show them all that the sweet, yummy, delicious, gooey great desserts they bring are just not good enough (God, help me). I will be good, really! I will check in tomorrow and let you all know that I resisted temptation.

Libra: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

angehaley: Congrats on meeting your first goal. It's so nice when the scale co-operates with you. What is the next goal? Good luck!!

Well, better go get some things wrapped up here before school starts.

Have a great OP day!

Well, phooey!! I was going great guns on a reply and lost it when I paged back to check some of the messages! I won't do that again!!!

Deb, Thanks so much for the HB. This is just the kind of cake I need. Totally on my program - small serving and 0 calories!!

Thanks, Ange, for the birthday wishes. You cracked me up when you talked about sending a pix taken before your were "knocked up." Of course, being from TX (the south) you would know that phrase. Do those who live in the north use it? It just sounds like something southern to me. Kind of like grits and fried okra. Shucks, two more things I can't have anymore!

SuperDave, I know it was a few posts back, but I would also like to commend you on being there for your daughter. My daughers' father was there for them most of their lives until he started his mid-life crisis almost 7 years ago (how long do they last?). Since then, he prefers to date and spend his time with girls his daughters' ages or younger. My daughters are 24, 25, and 30. His actions have hurt my girls terribly.

BOB, a three peckered goat?? I lived on a farm while married and I have to say, I've NEVER see anything like this! We did have twin calves once and my daughers named them Frank and Stein.

Gotta get to work! Love to you all and thank you for the good wishes. Have a beautiful OP day!

This morning was just beautiful outside. I have racked up some major miles this week. I knew for sure I was gonna bail last night. I was wiped all day long. For some reason when Lawana got me out there I caught my second wind and actaully ended up having one of my longest walks so far and one of my longest day totals. :) Next week is vacation so I'm kinda pushing hard this week knowing I'm gonna take it easy next week.

What's funny is I had nibbled but hadn't really had dinner so I had to break the no eating after 7 rule. I had Britt make me a tomato, lettuce and fat free cheese sandwich. Oh my gosh....have you ever been hungry and didn't even know it. I almost lost a finger or two I ate so fast.

Ange....thanks for sharing your pictures. You look beautiful before and after. Congratulations reaching goal! I hung on to the old scales for about 6 months before I just started going with the higher weighing scales....so see you aint the only one.

Libra.....you can still have fried okra...just roll in the whole wheat flour...it doesn't cling quite as good as the corn meal but it's not a bad substitute. I do miss my grits and red eye gravy. :) I think the one thing tha was the hardest was giving up the corn bread and still making it for the family. Can't think of anything better in cold weather than chili and cornbread. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Poncho...see told ya it would be right back off.

Deb...wtg...you are doing a great job of getting those miles in yourself this week. Venison is over 90 percent protein...very very low in fat. Excellent flavor. A doe ran into our truck a couple of years ago and hit it just right. Very little damage done to the meat but it did kill the deer. Since it was past season the game warden had to give him permission to bring it home. He took his first doe last deer season. We get a lot of wild pork out here and it's very low in fat compared to what you get at the store.

Sorry I don't have time to say howdy to everybody. We are trying to finish up our lessons so the kids can have vacation also.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Hey everyone! This is gonna be short as I have an appointment to go ride the silver saddle in a little while! We are going to have a looooong talk about why women of a certain age should no longer have to have a TOM!

Angehaley--Beautiful pictures!!!!! I agree the photo four days before giving birth doesn't count--you are supposed to be big! The wedding looked gorgeous!

Libra--Happy Birthday!!!! Hope you enjoy that cake! ;-)

I wasn't going to buy DR. Phil's book, but after reading everyone's comments, I might chance my mind.

I hope everyone has a good OP day. So far so good for me. 2 scrambled eggs and two slices of bacon for breakfast and an apple with peanut butter for a mid-morning snack. I'm getting ready to go make a huge salad for lunch. I'll throw some tuna on it for protein.

Have a great day everyone!

ANGE- I still use 2 scales in weighing also. The one I go with is the one that says more. You mentioned venison. My hubby is already gearing up for hunting season. I still have some deer meat in the freezer from last season.

DEB- It wouldn't let me post the pics because they have been previously posted. So how do I hyperlink them to the pics? That way you could just click on the link and it would automatically take you to them. Alot of you have already seen them. Just wanted to put them "together".

Well, I did it! I exercised. It's been since last Friday. Last week I exercised Mon-Fri. Amazing how your endurance can plummet in just a few days. I did the 2 mile tape instead of the 3 mile. I'm feeling a little bit better today. Guess I'm slowly coming out of this funk. I think I need to do some personal therapy or something. I'm starting to get hungry, going to see what I can fix for lunch...

Hi Everyone!!! What's going on...Things have been pretty hectic today at work, hence me just getting a chance to get on the computer. On Thursdays, we have staff meetings all day long. It is SO BORING. It seems lately every Thursday we have a pot luck type lunch with NO SB friendly foods (unless I bring them). It is so hard not to be tempted by staring at yummy things while bored out of your mind in a meeting. If I see 1 more Krispy Kreme doughnut, I will SSCCRREEAAMM. I started reading more of the Dr Phil book and I do really like what he has to say. I am not a huge Dr Phil fan, given that I have never seen his show or read any of his other books, but I thought this one deserved a chance. I could see though how some people don't like his no nonsense approach, I personally appreciate it. Well it seems as though many people lost weight during WIW. I have yet to climb on the scale this week, although I was tempted to this morning, when I went for my 6a.m workout. Today i did so many walking lunges and weighted squats, my legs are numb. I have a trainer who is a lot like Dr Phil...she DOES NOT mess around nor does she feel sorry for me, despite my Oscar worthy performances..Enough about me..

Ange- The wedding pictures were very pretty. You made a beautiful bride. Can you post some pictures of Lily?

JackK- Rocky's is on Magazine St, and Louisiana Pizza Kitchen is in the french quarter. Definitely, let me know when the trip gets closer, and I can make some suggestions.

Libra- happy Birthday. I hope you have a happy and healthy year.

CountryMom- Way to go on the exercise!!!!!

Nat- Congrats on the weight loss!! 123.5 is INSPIRATIONAL!!!!

Monet- how is the wicked boss? I hope things are better for you at work

Deb- Good job on the walking! I hear ya on the trying to talk yourself out of the exercising. I play those little games with myself every time I have to set my alarm at 5 to go to the gym. How is the insomnia?

I had a nice post but stopped to send a UPS package and the computer crashed. So I will attempt a quick rewrite.

JackieO, Be thinking of some things for me to do in NO. We are coming for 7 days instead of 4. Cheap things too.

Heartmom, COngrats on getting back to exercsing. Get yourself a nice bubblebath and lovely music and treat yourself. You deserve it.

Fillise, I want an answer to that question too. Have fun.

Deb, WTG on getting out there today. Lets try that recipe.

Libra, Have a great birthday. :gift: :hat: :balloons:. Enjoy your dinner.

ANge, I can't believe you weigh on 2 scales. One depresses me enough.

Pancho, good luck tonight. You can do it.

Country, I miss cornbread so much. Going anywhere on vacation.

Gotta run, they are locking the door.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORM MOVING INTO SARASOTA COUNTY!!!! There is LARGE damaging hail, torrential rain, ground lightening, high wind.....BETTER NOT KNOCK MY CABLE OFF!!!! TONIGHT IS A BIG TV NIGHT FOR BOB !!!!

DAWN...I was a big DAWSON fan....didn't miss an episode the whole time...there is a new show on the WB that you can probably still catch the pilot before next Tuesday called ONE TREE HILL...it's their new Dawson....the pilot was really good so check it out!

JACKIE...YES....all my sayings come from the southern most tip of the BLUEGRASS....Come on down, but like Deb said...it's very humid right now and I don't think you would be happy...I would gladly come up for the winter....I love fireplaces!!!

Just want to warn everyone who doesn't really know BOB and her TV ways during the new season....I'm not around much, so don't think I've deserted y'all.
I've got three VCR's going at all times and start watching what I taped when I get home every day....SO...don't think I'm neglecting y'all....I'll get in here when I can....

Gotta go...watching WEST WING!!!

I dunno, perhaps it was the crazed look in my eye--but the Doc said okey dokey and I get to have it all removed! He wanted to know when and I asked "What are you doing for lunch tomorrow?"

I've got to have some tests run (routine) in a couple of weeks and then I have to think about work schedules, so right now I'm thinking perhaps right after Thanksgiving. Before Thanksgiving is not so good--besides my SIL and I have a marathon shop-a-thon the day after Thanksgiving and since she forced me to go last year when my back was out, I don't think she will view recuperation from surgery as an excuse. My business will slow over the holidays so that's probably as good a time as any. He is going to do it laprascopically--anyone here had that? What was the recovery time?

Heart--we've heard your frustrations with DH--we know who he is protecting it from!

BOB--West Wing was very good last night. It's one of my favs (who would have guessed I'd be into political shows?) :D I can't wait to see next week's episodes! BTW, Dawson's Creek and One Tree Hill are(were) filmed in my hometown of Wilmington NC!

Jackie--According to my Dr. we don't! Of course we been trying stuff for 7-8 years now, so as he put it, I've put up the good fight and If I'm ready to call it quits he's ready to do it. There really aren't any more non-surgical procedures left so. . . I loved the picture BTW! You and your DD were both beautiful!

Green--I have no idea about the solid form of fructose, but the Brennan's book does use legal ingredients. Those recipies shouls be OK and they have a shopping guide in the back that I found to be invaluable when I first started SB.

Jackieo--I'm with you. I think Krispy Kremes should be banned!

Monet--Sounds like your ***. manager is a real u know what. oops--did I leave a T off that abbrevation?

Gator--What kind of speaking are you doing this weekend?

Deb--I get tired just reading your posts! Sorry about your Sunday--it sounded horrible.

Missy--Good to hear from you. I'm also on and off these days, so we'll be the bad girls of the board! :s:

Crystle--you are really going some on your walking! Are you going anywhere for vacation?

Opps the sun is coming into the window and right into my eyes--so time to take a break from the computer!

Talk to you soon.

Heartmom...if you chance the name of your file it will let you upload it again. If you dont' know how you can email them to me and I'll change the names.

Jackie and Susan....nope...I'm not going anywhere special but I plan on having some down time. The kids are getting out of home school for the week. And the days that Robert is not hunting I'm hoping to lay in bed a little longer. But you know how that goes. :) And as much as I love my walking I think I need a little down time there also. We are still gonna walk but I think we are gonna shoot for once a day instead of twice.

Thank you JackieO. WTG on all the squats. I wouldn't be able to walk for days.

Bob...praying your weather doesn't get to bad this evening.

Susan...also praying for your upcoming surgery.

Gotta run...well walk..LOL

Well I made the zucchini loaf cake and now have the zucchini spice squares in the oven. I will test them both and then decide which ones to take tonight. I will have plenty of the other here to eat during the next few weeks. My DD even likes the zucchini loaf cake.

It's nice not to have to get made up to go anywhere; just throw on my pj's and slippers and I am there. I hope I don't get pulled over for anything;) .

Country: Good job Lawana!!! It must be so great to have a walking partner. I always eat fast; I have no idea how I got into such a habit of that. I guess I feel like I am always in a rush, and just try to get it over with instead of savoring it like I should. Are you going somewhere special for your vacation?

JackieO: Personal trainers are great to keep your butt in gear. We have some great ones at the gym I go to, and it is exciting to see them work with their clients. That is what I want to do when I get my youngest into kindergarten.

BOB: I hope you don't lose your cable. Enjoy the storm and your shows. I don't get to watch too much T.V. since my kids are usually up until 8:00. I do watch a few of the shows that start at 8, but just get into them a little late. It takes a while to brush teeth, read books, tell stories.....

Fillise: I think I may have missed something here; what surgery are you going to have done? Good luck with it!

Well, I better go spend some time with my girls before I have to leave. My 5-year old always gets sad when I'm not here for bedtime; she sleeps with a picture of me. It breaks my heart to go in her room to give her a kiss goodnight and see "me and her" laying beside her on her pillow. BUT, I do need a night out every once in awhile and I think it makes me a better parent when I take time for ME!

I will check in tomorrow.

Take care,
Nat

I'm thinking that I may never have a computer again. This is rediculous!!! It's been in the shop for 2 months!!! Anyway, they put us off again until tomorrow or Saturday, so I had Travis bring home the laptop because I'm going crazy (and getting fat again...)without this website.

I had a pregnancy scare this week. I was supposed to start Sunday but didn't start until today. I was soooo freaking out!!!!! That would be way to close for me.

I picked up my Agave order. The price had gone up from $2.87 to $4.60 a bottle!!!! They said there was nothing that they coiuld do about it, but at least I get 5% off for being a member of the coop.

Selah has been sick all week. I took her in yesterday, and she has a throat infection. She has had a fever all week. He told me just to give her children's benadryl, and it has helped so far. Anyway, her 9month check up is next monday, so I'll let you guys know how it goes (that is, if we get the %&#@ computer this weekend)

Anyway, I'm trying to be good, but it's been really hard. I've been working 14 hour days, 3 days a week for the past few weeks. I'm exhausted and I've really let my eating go. Even if I hadn't gained weight back I feel absolutely discusting. It's worth eating healthier just to feel better. Losing weight would just be a bonus right now.

I miss you guys, and I'm dying without you!!!!! I can't wait till we get this all sorted out!!!

Hi all,

Nothing much to report today. Does anyone else find themselves taking a sudden interested in their appearance after the TINIEST weight loss? That's what I'm doing. I went to Tarzhay today and bought hot rollers and some hair dye ;)

Things are quiet around here, I've just finished sketching a plot outline for the book I've been telling myself I'm going to write for years. With DH working 2nd shift, I really have no excuses.

Speaking of DH, he just got notice in the make that he passed his exam and is now a CNA!!! so he'll be looking for a hospital job here in Lex.

Monet, I'm really sorry to here about your job. I was in Kroger picking up a cake yesterday and found myself wondering if there is untold drama between the employees that I can't pick up on...

Libra, Happy Birthday!!!!

Pancho, I've lost 9 lbs. so far. The first 5 came off over a few weeks not really trying, but my husband going to second shift cut down on a LOT of bad eating out we did. The four from this week were actually only from Saturday lunch to Wednesday morning, so I'm very pleased.

Angehaley, big congrats on your goal. That's really awesome!

Libra, I think "knocked up" is nation wide. I still remember I first heard it in Dirty Dancing, and I was like 9 years old. I then promptly referred to a pregnant lady in public as "knocked up", having no idea. I still remember that lecture...

BOB, I'm so glad to see another adult fessing up to Dawson's Creek. I was so ashamed, I got my mother hooked on it, just to make myself feel better. Add that to the Buffy obsession I gave her and shes LOVING me now! I have One Tree Hill on my TiVo. I will definitely watch it. The way you are w/ TV, you should get a TiVo. They RULE.

Fillise, I didn't know you were from Wilmington! I knew they filmed the shows there. I heard that people there were so nice during filming Dawson's Creek that they chosed to come back for the new show. I would LOVE to have a show filmed in Lex. Though I would have been stalking Pacey BIG TIME.

Thanks to everyone for your nice thoughts on my weight loss. Having you all to talk to really helps keep me on track...

Super Dave--LOL!!

Susan--I will be speaking at a retreat for the women at our church. Thankfully, there are 3 other women speaking--each of us will have one session. the title of my talk is "Where am I going and How will I get there?" It deals with how we use our time and resources, for ourselves or for God. What do our lives count for, etc. etc. I use Romans 12:1-2 and discuss those verses in detail, especially the what (sacrificing oneself) and how (by the renewing of ones mind). I have practical applications--write a personal mission statement, evaluate and adjust your use of time, major on the majors, and build "flex-time" into your daily schedule. I probably will speak for 45-50 minutes, and then have a brief workshop with a worksheet on writing a mission statement.

J-dawn--might as well make the jump and do the Big sisters. No time like the present. Before you know it it will be too late and you will have missed your chance to make a difference for someone.

Monet--before you quit, why don't you talk to the head manager of the store and let him know why you are quitting. Maybe he can make a change or at least make it better for whoever follows you.

Well, since I'm been MIA for a while and will be gone this weekend, I'll try to get in a little news. I have lost one (1) count it--one, whole pound in the last month. I've been eating pretty well, with a little fudging now and then. As I said in my last post, I'm taking quite a few pills for various things, but I will be finished with that regimen in a month, thank goodness. Then I'll be back to just my thyroid meds and vitamins. Today I had oatmeal and one piece of bacon for breakfast, 3 chicken wings for lunch, and for dinner one small crab cake, a bowl of collards and some blackeyed peas, along with a spinach salad. And lots of water or tea. Maybe I'm supposed to be F-A-T. :(

I walked this morning. I missed yesterday and Tuesday, but generally have been doing well. I worked out with the weights tonight, as I did on Monday. So I am doing pretty well. I think that most anyone else probably would be dropping some weight doing what I'm doing. But something is not working for me.

BOB--It rained pretty hard here too, tonight, but not with hail or lightening. Just enough to upset our cats.

I still have both compositions (or en français- les dissertations) to write for my French class, along with preparing for the mid term. I'm hoping I have a few spare minutes this weekend, but my DD is going and probably will want to have me do something with her.

I meet my mentor-ee on Tuesday afternoon. She is a sr. at a local H.S. and I'm really excited about meeting her. My butterflies are changing. Almost all the monarchs and swallowtails are gone and now I have a lot of bright yellow ones, called sulphurs. I found a nice caterpillar out there and brought it into the cage and now it is a chrysalis. It looks just like a waxy green leaf. I hope it doesn't hatch out when I am gone.

Well, take care all your gals and guy. I'm hoping that after this weekend and after the midterm I will have a little breathing room.

Oops, I forgot!
Fruit--No, unfortunately for us, we will not be able to get to Louisiana for the game. I'm really sad about it because going to NO was always such a treat. I watched some of the LSU/UGA game and send big congratulations your way. Always nice to beat them dawgs, eh! Our team is pretty mediocre this year so I think our guys will have a tough time in Death Valley. Good luck to your Tigers this year.

I think your retreat sounds exciting, one of the things I feel we all need is to spend some quite time with God, I usually do my bible reading, and then sit with my eyes closed and try and listen to God's message , sometimes its a period of trying to clear our minds and let god in.if my mind goes astray, I refocus on just listening. I do this phase 2 times a week, try and spend 20 minutes a day, mostly with prayers, and daily readings. It took me years to realize, we spend maybe 1 1/2 hrs a week in church on Sundays and feel like we have done our Christian duty.
I am sure glad God does not only give us that little bit of time, as God is 24/7....Just a little thought for your subject matter.
Let me know how this retreat turns out.

Hey everyone!
Just an update on DS. He is about 95% recovered. Still not eating that great, but at least he is eating. We went to the mall today! Felt so good to get out. He was miserable though. Ever since this sickness he has been so moody! Look out if he doesnt get his way! If its a phase, I hope its short lived.
Tv was good tonight..if anyone saw Friends...did you not crack up! I thought it was funny!
I still havent done any excersise this week other than Monday! I just cant seem to get into it..and I dont know why! Since tomorrow id friday anyway, I think Im gonna just start fresh on Monday...sound familiar?? ;)

BOB -rained pretty bad over here all day...I almost coudnt get into my subdivision.

DEB - Good for you and your drive to get your butt out and go, whether fast or not...at least you went. I may need a pep talk this weekend! I need a sweet recipe for the weekend...I may do cheesecake again!

Morning! I am slammed this weekend with stuff to do. I am baking cakes, catering dinner for church, and expecting my sister to come in for the weekend. (Thankfully, she is NOT staying with us as she is allergic to cats, which I have! ) Its going to be a busy weekend, and it has not started out so good today. A lick of cake batter here and there doesn't sound like much, but it bodes ill for the rest of the weekend! I think it is exacerbated by hormones.

I will get on when I can....hope everyone is doing fine.

I've hardly been able to read the boards lately. I've been running and phoning around like crazy. We got some kind of good news for our adoption that will help us cut the wait time by 2-3 months(it will still take a year or more), so I've been doing all that I can for that. It's a big paper chase. We need 2 different police checks, 7 reference letters (gotta hound our friends), this document, that document. OY!

My eating seems to have slid backwards a bit. I may go back and do a week or 2 of cutting out the fruit and starches. I have managed to keep off 4-5 lbs (depending on the day) of the 6 I lost.

DH has needed the car for work, so I've been walking to where I need to go to get these things done. Yesterday I walked nearly 10 miles all together! Today will be about 5-6 miles. At least I'm getting some exercise in.

I just wanted to quickly check in and let you all know I'm thinking about you. I wish I could make a collage of all the pics of everyone so I could print it and pin it up in the kitchen so I can see the wonderful group all the time. I'm not that computer literate tho!

So have a GREAT weekend everyone. Try your best and if you happen to slip up, don't worry about it, just move on.

Will write in a bit, just didn't want you to think I've forgotten this morning. Found a great site with info for using my breadmaker, and came across this recipe that I just KNOW some of you are going to be salivating over!!!! Wherever it had honey or maple syrup in the recipe I switched it to agave:)

FUNNEL CAKES (using whole wheat flour)

1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/4 tsp salt (optional)
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp agave
1 egg
7/8 cup warm milk
Oil for deep frying
Agave

Sift together all the dry ingredients and then add the agave, egg, and the milk. Beat until smooth. Heat about 2 inches of the oil in a large cast-iron skillet. To test the correct temperature, drop a small piece of dough into the oil. If it floats to the top and bubbles appear around the edges, you are ready to make the funnel cakes. Hold your finger at the bottom of the funnel and pour in some batter. Then, using a spiral motion, let the batter pour into the oil. The cakes should look like free-form spiral sculpture. Fry until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Drizzle with agave and serve hot.

The amount you can make will depend upon the amount of batter your use for each cake.

Looks like it will be a pretty day here. I just wish the allergies would clear up!

I'm thinking about not going to the AU game tomorrow. I've got so much to do around the house and if I am going to have this surgery right before Christmas, then I will have to have all my shopping done before Thanksgiving! I haven't bought to first gift yet.

Deb--WW funnel cake? I think there are some things that just can't be made wholesome and funnel cake is one of them! Besides it's the powdered sugar on the hot cake that has always been the attraction for me.

Zanne--Good to hear from you and good luck with the adoption! How exiciting:) . We;ll be here for you when you have the time to pop in and let us know what is going on.

Monet--Whew--sounds like you have quite a weekend ahead of you! Have fun and try not to run yourself ragged (and keep your paws out of the dough!):o

ChrisD--I'm glad to hear that DS is doing better and finally able to eat something! I know you are very relieved. Hang in there.

SuperDave--How right you are about God being here 24/7! I was just thinking that I needed to sit in on Gator's seminar.

Gator--I think I need to come to your retreat! It sounds great and your workshop sounds very useful. Wonder if we can figure out a way for you to do it online??????

Dawn--I grew up in Wilmington and Mom and Fad still live there. There is a big movie studio there now (not there when I was growing up). In fact my father used to work as a movie extra for a while. It's really a beautiful city.

Talitha--I hope you get your computer back soon! And I certainly hope little Selah is doing better. it's no fun when the little one's are sick. Hang in there and try not to let all the frustrations throw you off course!

Pancho--I'm having a hysterectomy. We've tried all the hormones we can try, but all the stuff going on in there has just gotten too bad so he's ready to take it out. And I'm ready for it to come out!

BOB--- I told Belle that I was going to have the same surgery she had so she wouldn't have to listen to me moaning for 7-10 days out of every month!

Crystle--Thanks! I hope you enjoy your week! I know the kids will enjoy no school. I hear their teacher is pretty strict on them!

I hope everyone has a goo OP day!

Fillise--LOL! Have a great weekend. I'd love to have you come down for the retreat, if for no other reason than to actually meet you. I've "met" your church parking lot (2 years ago) but never got to meet you. As far as the workshop, talk, etc. the only thing I can think of is to send you a copy as an attachment via e-mail. Not quite the same though. :)
Everyone have a great weekend.

Good Morning all:

I have to report that I did pretty darn good last night. There were 17 moms who all brought a different dessert. There were cookies, brownies, pastries, coconut cream pie, cheesecake......you get the picture??? There was also beer and wine coolers. However, the first thing one of the moms said as I entered the front door is, "gheez, you have gotten so skinny!" That was my boost of confidence and the willpower I needed. I had a slice of my zucchini bread (which probably tasted quite bland to everyone else eating the sugar saturated stuff there). Someone also brought apples & strawberries with fruit dip. I ate some of the fruit without the dip. Someone else brought chocolate covered strawberries and I had two of those. I did not drink any alcohol either, just water all night. I feel so proud and so "light" this morning. There were so many people there that very few probably even noticed I wasn't eating much of the stuff.

Now, I have to go to DD's school for "Muffins for Moms" day and consume a muffin (I hope they are small). I do plan on going to the gym from there if youngest DD co-operates. So I should be able to work it right off.

We are going to a Diamondback's baseball game tomorrow; it should be a lot of fun. They are not in the playoffs or anything, but will be a fun day out. They are playing the St. Louis Cardinals, which has been my husband's favorite team since he was young.

Talitha: Hello! Oh my gosh...$4.60 a bottle; you'd think you were buying gold! Pregnancy scare....well, let's just say I've had a few of those. I am trying to talk my DH into the big V, but he absolutely refuses. I was on the pill for many years, and had to take medication to conceive youngest DD, not to mention two pregnancies and giving birth.....I think I have done enough! We are so ultra careful, but anytime my cycle is even the slightest bit late, I start to worry. I then think about how darn difficult it was for us to conceive anyway, and can't imagine it happening, but you can never be too sure. Good luck to Selah for her 9-month appt. My dd's just got over being sick with colds and sore throats. Now, strep is going around DD's class....yippee. Lane is going in for her 15-month check up in a few weeks.

jdawn: I had to lose more before I pampered myself. But, I think rewards along the way are great incentive, even for the smallest loss. Good luck on the book writing venture. Cograts to DH.

fruit: Everyday will get a little better if you stick it out. Stay with it, and you will do fine.

Gator: Snacking throughout the day doesn't help you to lose? Is that due to your thyroid? I really find that the more I eat (in very small amounts throughout the day) the more I lose. I sure hope you are able to find a way to get "there." You have been so committed and I would like to see you lose the weight you are trying to lose.

chrisd: Glad you found the light at the end of the long tunnel with your son. Why not start fresh on Friday?;) .

Monet: Hello!

Zanne: Good luck with the adoption proceedings. My doctor and wife adopted twin girls from China recently and it was a very long drawn out process. He had to fly to China with a boatload of cash since they wouldn't take any other form of payment from them. As far as I know, they were going to be back in town on the 19th of this month with their 12-month old twin girls. They were so excited to help out two little ones who may not have the opportunity for a happy life. It is alarming to hear that China is still so against female births. I hope everything works out well for you! Keep up posted on the progress!

Well, I think I'll go eat something light (maybe some yogurt) to hold me over until muffin time.

Have a great day everyone!

Good Friday Morning!

It's raining, AGAIN!:rain: Seems we're going to have this all weekend - lovely:rolleyes:

I didn't get in my walk today. Not only did it look a bit dark out there, I just wasn't in the mood, tired and still sick. Climbed back in bed, no exercise happening in there either, just fell asleep again and woke up over an hour later more tired than when I got up this morning:shrug:

Not much on my plate for today, esp. with the way I'm dragging-just have to go to the bank and feed the machine all these coins that ELI gave me to count - better than rolling the suckers! Look at another place or two for microwaves as I haven't found what I wanted yet - none are the size of the one I had, either smaller or bigger, don't want either, so I'll look, though I'm not sure where since I've been to all the major places-maybe Cotsco if I can get my neighbors card to use.

On to some posts...

ANGE, geez, now wouldn't it be great to be able to have THAT kind of exercise every day - heck, if that was the case I'd be proud as a peacock to post it on the exercise board:lol: Pretzels-the Snyder Oat Brans are fine, just watch portions. The ones I mentioned that are SD are the Fresh Market ones, their own brand. CONGRATS on the new goal!!! I'd probably try venison but it's not a hot commodity down in Miami:)

PANCHO, sounds like you did great last night! How'd you think the latest zucchini cake came out? Did anyone eat any of it? Hope you have a good day at DD school. People don't really say who MICHAEL looks like as much as they do LAUREN. People say she looks just like me and I see her like her father, but then when I looked at a pic of me in 8th grade she looked almost like my twin, so I guess she's a combo. With the cheesecake recipe. When I first created it I made it with 1/2 cup agave but found using 1/3 was just fine, so when I actually doubled it one time I found that 3/4 a cup worked perfectly and tasted great.

LIBRA, so how was your bday? Hope it was a good one! I know the phrase "knocked up" as well. That puts another southern gal (can't get much more southern than Miami) that knows that phrase.

COUNTRY, don't tucker yourself out with all those miles. What happened to me was my body got so use to doing the same amount of miles every week that it was not really all that effective for me. Better to build up gradually over time - just my opinion, you do what's right for you;) Wish we could find such lean meats here - I have to say, I have tried buffalo and like it, ostrich too. I'd def. eat venison or wild pork if avail - and someone else was cooking it;)

HEART, do you know when you posted those pics before? How about renaming the pictures and trying to load them again?

JACKIEO, why not make some SB LEGAL foods, don't say a word til after everyone's oooed and ahhhed and then tell them. They'd be dying to try the next thing you bring in. My CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE is definitely a winner-many of the gals on the board can tell you that's a staple at our SB GET TOGETHERS!

GREEN, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign1.jpg By solid, you mean powdered fructose over liquid I presume. I would say, in small amounts it shouldn't pose a problem, but I wouldn't use it in larger quantities. It's actually made from corn - use to be fruit but the only place I can say that I've found evidence of fructose made from fruit is in the UK. As for the Brennans cookbook, I have it somewhere but would have to search for it to give you an overall answer to your question as I don't use it and just have it for reference.

BOB, so what do you think about this years SURVIVOR so far? I haven't been a fan in the last few, but I have to say, I'm really liking this one so far-and I do like this RUPERT guy! I surely thought, with the way this Osten wanted to go home he was voting for himself-NOT! What was that about? Would you PLEASE stop sending over this crappy weather, keep it to yourselves!

FILLISE, keep us informed on what's going on with you. I'm sure all will go fine and you'll do great! I need to go ride that silver saddle and get a booby squishing but keep putting it off, hate going to either of them. I give you pointers for not only going to your appt but for all that's going to go on soon. At least you'll get some R&R for a little while, but what a way to get some! Okay, I'm not one to have had a funnel cake since I was maybe somewhere around 12, but I know that many like them, so thought it was an interesting recipe to post, but I know that the powdered sugar is what "makes" it good. Hmmmm, wonder how far a tsp. of powdered sugar would go (unpacked, of course) if sifted along the top as a once-a-blue-moon treat for those who'd try making it? Just a smattering of it!

TALITHA, glad to see you back, at least to check in and give us an update. Hope you get that computer back soon - I know how hard it is having withdrawls from the board. The agave price is what's out on the market now-unfortunately. The cheapest I've seen it around here now is $4.69. Sorry to hear SELAH'S not feeling well, hope she gets better soon!! Hope things settle down for you as well and you can get back to normal.

DAWN, what kind of book?

FRUIT, girl, do you mean you aren't going to show of your new breasteses to all those on Burbon Street? Did you see my post about converging on your house for an SB GET TOGETHER? Don't worry, I'll catch you arse home one day!!!:s:

GATOR, I don't think you are fat, nor do I think you are meant to be. Losing a pound is surely better than gaining. Just imagine what may be if you weren't having to take all those pills and think of them as being the culprit, but not your ability to actually lose the weight. I think it's more of how you feel. But honestly, I don't see you as having to lose all that much, you look very well proportioned to me:)

CHRIS, glad to hear DS is doing better! Give me a call, anytime. What kind of "sweet" recipe are you thinking about?

MONET, I see your running around like a chicken this weekend! Take a moment or two and rest along the way-right in front of the computer;)

ZANNE, hope things proceed quickly with the adoption! What's your take so far with the SOBE diet that you've done? Did you stick with Phase I 100% - remember you posting about it but can't remember the details.

Okay, I can't believe it's 11:30am already! I'm going to go eat something, haven't eaten a thing all morning, so I guess I'll do some lunch. I have some BASA fillets in the freezer and will make one of those.

Will check in later - have a wonderful weekend!!!

Just moving this over from one of our other boards so we can all respond

FROM LESBIA

Thank you so much for this site!

Thank you so much for this thread!

I'm hoping that I can ask a few questions regarding food. If my questions don't belong in this thread, please move them or point me in the right direction. I'm new here, and I've been lurking, but I'm a little lost.

Ok, what milk is best? The whole milk I've been drinking has an alarming amount of sugar! Is 2% Ok?

The answer from the Doctor regarding potatoes is interesting. He basically said that potatoes have a low GI, or did I misunderstand him? Can someone tell me how many GI's are in ONE potato? and if I eat french fries that have been sprinkled with malt vinegar does that lower the GI?

We should eat anything above 55 GI, right?

On more: white flour (regular) spaghetti is Ok as long as I cook it al dente? The GI list above put it at low GI, I think.

Thanks so much for any help you can give me. I've sent off for the SB book, and I'm waiting for it, so for now, I'm just researching online and trying my best. And like I said, just send me away or point me in the right direction if I'm on the wrong forum.

Yeah it's Friday!!! I am so ready to start my vacation. I took a tiny walk this morning to finish my walking week at 41.5 miles. Not the goal I had set for myself but my body says enough this week and I agree. :) This was week 6 of walking over 30 miles a week. Since I have seen no major changes the next couple of weeks we are going to slow down and just take things easy. With the cool front coming through it's going to make for some beautiful walks.

WTG Poncho passing on all the goodies. I wasn't quite as good last night. I had to have a few of the chocolate/peanut butter coverd cereal that I made for the kids. The powdered sugar coating was a bonus...but I didn't do tooo bad.

Deb...thanks for the input on the walking. As much as I love it it's time to make some changes. Sorry you are still feeling under the weather.

ChrisD....you'll get back to the exercising. Its hard when you have a little one that is ill. It is draining on you as well as them.

Susan...hope your allergies don't act up too badly today. Robets are in full force already. We found out after we moved to a hay field that he is allergic when it goes to seed. :) But he doesn't do too bad compared to the first year here. I think he has built up immunities or something.

Zanne...praying for all things to fall into place quickly for your adoption.

Monet....hope you have a wonderful weekend. I hear ya about the lick here and there. Praying you have a great eating weekend and not too many more licks.

Well, the munchkins think they are hungry so I'm gonna get off and feed them an early lunch.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Happy Friday.

Our computers were down all morning and I was dying to get on here.

My pizza turned out great last nite. I sued the receipe someone posted using milk. It was crisp.

Not much going on here. Was going to walk this am. Got up at 5:15 and fixed DH breakfast, but decied to go back to bed even though I was wide awake and would only get about 35 minutes. My rear end is still bothering me and I'm not sure if I am doing more harm and than good by walking each night. SO I decided to give it a break and take today off. I guess will get another shot, but wanted to wait closer to going to NO. The Dr. wants me to get a MRI. Just don't want to fool with it. So I am sitting on the heating pad daily and some at night. Who knows.

Bob, come on down, we have a fire everynight. If it keeps this up it will be starting soon. On your woman list, #11 I do that if they are cute. :D You had better button down the hatches and go for cover. I don't think you can blame all those one liner's on Ky. People will think we're hillbilies or something.

Susan, I'm jealous, can't wait to get that female stuff out. At least they can do the lap, insteald of the incision. Should be quicker healing time. Gift certificates work well.

Country, Enjoy your week off. You never know, if you stay in bed longer you might get more exercise than you think :o That is an unbelievable amount of miles. You get the prize for sure.

Talitha, Hope you get that computer back soon. We miss you. Hope Selah feels better soon.

Dawn, I think with each loss we start looking at ourselves differenttly and wanting to look better. It is nice that you treat yourself with each new milestone. CHeer a little for me tomorrow. We got to beat those Gators!

Fruit, we are coming Oct 9 thru 15th. Hey you might keep your clothes on, but I might not Maybe we could get our breastess painted. :fr:

Gator, I would think you would be losing more than 1 lb with the way you are eating. I know it must be depressing for you. But hang in there, maybe it will all just fall off at once. Good luck with your speach.

Chris, Glad DS is better. At least you can get out now. He was used to all that pampering while he was sick and still expects it.

Monet, have a great weekend. SOunds like a busy one.

Zanne, good luck with all the adoption red tape. Any time shorter would be great. Sounds like you are getting losts of exercise.

Pancho, you did so great last nite. But I knew you would. Nice compliment to set the tone too!

Deb, sorry you didn't get any exercise today (of any kind). :o: hope you get to feeling better soon.

Lesbia, Welcome. I drink skin milk. Some of the sugar in the milk is from lactose. You need to look for added sugars. the regular spaghetti is not ok. ww or 100% duram semolina. Potatoes in any form (other than sweet potatoes) are not legal. I'm going to let someone else answer the GI questions.

Need to check on my pot pie, it's almost lunch time.

Be back later.

51 TO 60 POINTS: Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile,
rather impulsive personality, a natural leader, who is quick to make decisions, though no t always the right ones. They also see you as kind, considerate and understanding, someone who will always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS: Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends quickly or easily but very loyal
to the friends you do make and expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends. but equally it takes a long for you to get over that trust if every broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful.... as slow steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something implusively or on the spur of the moment... expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually... decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS: People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions and who does not
want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems which do not exist. Some people think that you are boring; only those who know you very well know that you are not.

I thought some of you would like to take this. I scored a 39. The description fits me to a tee! I am very practical, loyal, but a bit "stand-offish". Definetly not a socialite. With my friends, if they betray my trust then basically the friendship is over. I've had people tell me that I intimidate them at first, but then they get to know me. Really, I'm just a bit shy and "cautious" and it's sometimes taken the wrong way. And yes, I'm very modest. I don't think I handle compliments that well- which is stupid, but I feel "embarrassed" sometimes or think people are full of it when they compliment me. There are some things that I wish I could change... Anyway, that's enough about me!

Okay, today is Friday and I had a Friday Funny and lost it! Maybe I can find another. Not much going on, just gotta do the usual Friday thing- grocery store and pay bills. I finally stepped on the scales. It's back down to what it was last Friday-181. Still up one pound from my low. Feeling somewhat better. Oh, these ladies from Ashley's church came over last night and said they have a free aerobics class at the church on Tues and Thur. I think I might try it out and see if I like it. I need to get out more anyway and it will be a change of pace from the WATP tapes all the time. SHe said they will have the step thing and hand weights. I just wonder if there will be a bunch of spandex-clad, skinny women there. If I feel outta place, I won't go back. Hopefully, it will be a variety of people. Anyway, I put on a bunch of redbeans and sausage in the crockpot about an hour ago. Hubby has asked me to make them for 2 weeks now. Finally gave in. I'll make theirs with white rice and use basmati brown for me. It's still a very starchy meal. But a treat- I make a "mean" bunch of red beans, lol. I don't measure but it's pretty simple: soak your kidney beans overnight in the fridge. Drain and add water to pot, 1 onion, several bay leaves(dry is fine), 2 stalks celery, fresh or dry minced garlic(lots), hot sauce, salt and pepper, parsley, and smoked sausage. I cook them for several hours until they make a "gravy". In a couple of hours they will be smelling great. Okay, I'm going to try the photos again and look for a Friday Funny...

A Golfer's Deal With the Devil

A golfer was having a tough day and in his frustration he blurted out, "I would give anything for a birdie on this hole."

A nearby stranger walked out of the woods beside the hole and whispered, "If you give up one quarter of your sex life, I guarantee you will make this shot."

The golfer said "OK." He made the shot for birdie.

A few holes later, he was having trouble on another hole. "Please, let me make this for eagle" he said.

Again, the stranger stepped up to him and said, "If you give up another quarter of your sex life, you will make eagle."

"You're on," the golfer said, and made the shot for eagle.

On the eighteenth hole, the golfer needed an eagle to win. The stranger again stepped up and said "If you give up the last half of your sex life, you will make eagle to win."

"OK," the golfer said, and made his shot for eagle, winning the round.

As he was walking back to the clubhouse, the stranger walked up beside him and said, "I think I should inform you that I am the Devil, and from now on you will have no sex life."

The golfer turned to him, smiled, and said, "Nice to meet you, my name is Father O'Malley!"

Just wanted to quickly say hi to everyone on the board. Busy here at work, but I might have a cahnce to get back on the computer later.

Laurie- I scored a 51. I think some of those aspects are true, but I probably favor more of the range lower. 51 was so close, oh well, I just need to take my 51 and deal with it. It is likely true!!!

JackK- I will be thinking of some things you can do. 7 days will be great. Where are ya'll staying? (I am not the best at choosing cheap restaurants (not my strong suit), but can definitely come up with places that are reasonable!)

Crystle- Are you training for a marathon? Way to go on all that walking..

To everyone else that I did not have time to respond to, I will hopefully chat with you later. If not, see ya on Monday

Taking a break from taking a break..LOL We haven't done much of anything other can going to the grocery store. I really liked the soy milk so I bought some more. I think the little bit of sugar in it will be okay. At least I'm getting the protein. :)

Thanks for the test Heart Mom...I scored 42 but I think I'm more like the one underneath. Actually a little of both. It's funny you are making beans tonight. I just told my daughter when she goes into town...not ours but one next to ours to see if she could find me some Basmati rice to go with some beans. Our town is too tiny for anything other than white rice. I'm surprised they even carry the brown.

JackieO...no, no marathons. I don't run at all just walk very fast. I've been walking for almost 3 years now. I was hoping the extra miles at a faster pace would get the old scales moving but no such luck. Every one keeps telling me that maybe I am suppose to be this weight but I refuse to believe I'm suppose to be at the hight end of healthy or over weight depending on what weight chart you use. :)

Jack-K :o woo hoo...LOL

Love,
Crystle

The board is slow today.. got back on the computer because I'm in my room where it is cool(AC is still broke in LR). Just got finished with lunch. Glad I had protein this morning- I was able to go from 9:30 until 2:30 until I had lunch. Didn't want to wait anylonger for hunger pains to set in. I ate leftovers. I had a chicken breast and cabbage- still wanted something so I had a ham and cheese rollup. Good to go now. Man, it's steamy today. Can't wait for another "cool" front to come in Sunday- the temp will be 78.

Ok, time for Friday Funnies....

Hmmm?

Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered
assassinated instead of just murdered?

If money doesn't grow on trees then why do banks have branches?

Since bread is square, why is sandwich meat round?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"...but it's only a "penny"
for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were
buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would
be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up
like every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

If you drink Pepsi at work in the Coke factory, will they fire you?

Why are you IN a movie, but you are ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in
binoculars to look at things on the ground?

How come we choose from just two people for President and fifty for
Miss America?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change? They're going to see
you naked anyway.

If a 911 operator has a heart attack, whom does he/she call?

and finally...

Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

Hmmmmmmmmmm?

THE LONELY LITTLE BRAIN CELL

Once upon a time there was a female
brain cell which, by mistake, happened
to end up in a man's head. She looked

around nervously, but it was all empty

and quiet.

"Hello?" she cried, but no answer. "Is

there anyone here?" she cried a little

louder, but still no answer.

Now the female brain cell started to
feel alone and scared and yelled at the

top of her voice "HELLO, IS THERE

ANYONE HERE?"

Then she heard a very faint voice from
far, far away . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . "We're down here!"

Getting ready to head to happy hour (I'm drinking ice tea). Guess we will get a bite to eat and go home. Everyone else is going to the big football rivalry game tonight, but DH didn't want to go. I am hoping to get home and get a couple rooms cleaned. Won't have too much time tomorrow as we are going to the UL game (yuk). Much rather be going to the Gater- Cats game.

Country, I love that, taking a break from a break. Cool.

JackieO, We are staying at the Wyndam. Not my choice. We are going with afriend who is a dr. the hotel is close to where the conference is (next to Harrah's casino) I guess he has to impress his Dr friends. We are sharing a room so that's helps with the cost, but more than I want to pay.

Monet, I totally agree wtih that last man joke.

Heart, I did that test a week ago I think I was a 37 or so.

Have a great weekend. I won't be back on until Monday.

It's cloudy and we're expecting 70% rain tonight and tomorrow!
Good thing I've got a lot of football games on TV to watch! :bravo:

I'm starting to have problems on the left shoulder and arm just like the problems I had on the right side! DANGIT...I can't go thru this again! I'm already taking too many heavy drugs now! I came home early today and the first thing I did was to have Kate rub me down! (DEB..still can't believe that ELI couldn't find my miracle blue stuff at Walgreens!) ..If any of you ever need to be rubbed down...get the Walgreens brand of BLUE ICE @ $5.99 opposed to the national brand at $13.99!!!

No movies this weekend, too much on TV and I won't have time to screen anything..

LAURIE...I scored a 45 and it's me to the tee!!!!

SUSAN...NOT GOING TO THE AUBURN GAME!!!!!! GIRLFRIEND, I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY!!!! I remember when MS BELLE had her surgery, and now she can help Mommy recoup! You've just helped me make my decesion....when I go in Feb to see the SADDLE DOC, I too am going to plead my case! I can't take the hormones because my Grandmother died from breast cancer...SO....luckily the hot flashes haven't started back up since I quit taking the pills, but I'm ready to clean everything out!

TENNESSEE vs SOUTH CAROLINA 7:45 p.m. ESPN

KENTUCKY vs FLA

Good afternoon friends......not much happening here. Been doing laundry trying to get ds stuff ready to go since he is leaving tomorrow. Will be so quiet around here when he is gone. The poor puppies won't know what to do, they love both the boys so much.

Well my weight was normal again yesterday, and down a pound today.....go figure. I will keep an eye on it for a few days. I usually don't claim a loss until it stays for at least 3 days.

My Mom should be getting home sometime this weekend. We are taking Grandma over to one of her daughters houses tomorrow for the weekly pot luck......I am taking beef stew. Our next half of a beef will be butchered in Nov., so we need to get busy and get what we can eaten. I made a really good stir fry last night, using some stew meat. Used Kikkoman Lite Soy Sauce, a couple packets of Splenda, ginger, garlic and a splash of rice vinegar for the sauce. Dh really liked it.......said I didn't make enough for once. (He is usually not to hip on that kind of stuff.) Oh yeah, I found some WW lasagna noodles finally. Now I just need to find a good recipe. I have never made it, usually just make spaghetti, and I make a mean sauce!!

On to a few replies......
Monet-- Sounds like you have a very busy schedule this week end, see you when you get the time. Cute funnies.

Zanne-- Good news with the adoption.....it may seem like alot of running around but the end results will be soooo worth it. Doesn't sound like you are doing too bad in the food department. At least you are maintaining, the walking probably helps alot.

Deb-- OOOhhhh, that sounds sooooo goooood!! But dont know about the oil for frying......I have such a hard time keeping my fats down. Just love all the wrong foods, I guess.

Fillise-- Sorry to hear your allergies are acting up. I am already thinking of Christmas gifts, now just need to get my rear in gear and go get them. I would love so much to not be running around at the last minute!! Good luck on your surgery.....I am so jealous, I keep telling my Mom that they should have a shot that we can take after not having children for so long. I mean.....my youngest is 23 for pete sakes, and I am still putting up with that monthly pest!! And I won't be able to take any Hormones should the need arise, because of blood clots.

Pancho-- WTG girl you did fabulous!! And the compliment was a big bonus! If you resisted all that stuff last night, one small "Muffin for Mom" will probably not do any harm, and DD will be appeased.

Country-- Enjoy your vacation.....you have definitely earned one with all that walking.....

Jack-k-- I must have missed something.....what have you done to your rear end?? Sometimes we just need to take an unscheduled break! You probably needed it.

Heart-- I scored 38, seems to fit me also. Glad to hear things in the weight department are back to normal.....you can do this!!

Well gang.....see ya' all later.......

THE VIRTUES OF SKIN GRAFTING

A married couple was in a terrible accident where the
woman's face was severely burned.

The doctor told the husband that they couldn't graft
any skin from her body because she was too skinny, so
the husband offered to donate some of his own skin.

However, the only skin on his body that the doctor
felt was suitable would have to come from his
buttocks.

The husband and wife agreed that they would tell no
one about where the skin came from, and requested that
the doctor also honor their secret. After all, this
was a very delicate matter.

After the surgery was completed, everyone was
astounded at the woman's new beauty. She looked more
beautiful than she ever had before! All her friends
and relatives just went on and on about her
youthful beauty!

One day, she was alone with her husband, and she was
overcome with emotion at his sacrifice.

She said, "Dear, I just want to thank you for
everything you did for me. How can I possibly repay
you?"

"My darling," he replied, "I get all the thanks I need
every time I see your mother kiss you on the cheek."

Good Afternoon everyone:

Went to DD's school for muffins. They had blueberry, cream cheese & bran (I chose the bran and shared some with youngest DD). One of the assistant teachers then took the kids to the playground while my dd's teacher told us all that she is going in for a hysterectomy next week and will be out for five weeks. My DD is going to be so sad; she is just settling in and this change will upset her; I know how she is. I guess this lady has had fibroids for 6 years and they are growing rapidly and cutting off circulation to her left leg. It's time for her to get it taken care of. God Bless her; she will be in our prayers! Once we got out of there, I wouldn't have had enough time to work out and then get back, so I missed that today, but will go tomorrow a.m. when DH is home with the girls. We will then be going to a Diamondbacks baseball game. Hopefully the weather will be not so hot.

Deb: The zucchini loaf cake turned out well. I think I like it better than the spice squares, although they are very similar. Only a few slices were eaten last night. And, unless eaten first, it probably would taste bland compared to the other desserts there. I think Lauren looks just like you!

Lesbia: Welcome. It sounds as if most of your questions have been answered. Good luck to you.

Country: HELLO!!

JackK: I'm sure your body was thankful for a little break. Have fun at Happy Hour.

heart: I scored a 45, which seems fairly accurate. It was interesting. Downloading photos can be so frustrating. I can almost smell your beans from here...yum!

BOB: So sorry to hear of the pain you are having on left shoulder and arm. I hope it gets to feeling better soon!

Teensy: Try Country's lasagne recipe; it is delicious, and it makes a ton. I always freeze half after we eat the other half.

Well, I don't know if I will make it on over the weekend, so if not....HAVE A FUN, OP WEEKEND!!!

Take care,
Nat

Hey All:wave:

Just getting home, had to take MICHAEL to his friend VICKI'S house and then to the school to p/u LAUREN then take LAUREN to go to babysit and then ran in to Costco to look at nukers, which none I liked. Thankfully, MICHAEL is staying at VICK'S house so I don't have to pick him up later and LAUREN will get a ride home:D

Didn't get much of anything accomplished today other than going to the bank. I swear, I love my bank! I took all these coins ELI had in the bedroom to the counter they have there-it's free, even for people who don't have accounts there, just dump in the coins and viola, you get a printout and taken to the teller cash-so much better than trying to count $130.50! He thought it was about $80, so he was pleasantly surprised!:D

LESBIA, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg I think others have probably answered some of your questions but I'll throw in my 2 cents as well, sorry for any repeats. Milk is fine, the sugars you see are naturally occuring lactose. You can find that in things like tomato sauce as well, that is, as long as you don't see any forms of sugar listed in the ingredients, which could be easily put in. Always check your ingredients and know the forms of sugars that are out there. If you don't see any, it's naturally occuring and it's fine. Potatoes are high GI, but we are allowed to have sweet potatoes due to them being a bit lower GI than white, but at least obtaining some fiber. Moderation is also the key as a serving of a sweet potato, which is a starchy carb is, from memory, which ain't so keen, about 3ounces, in that area, which isn't much. Your question about 1 potato depends on a few things. What size of a potato are you referring to, like, if you were talking about 1 tiny new potato, I'd say, not a problem, but if you are talking about a regular restaurant sized potato, it's a def.:nono: The question about the vinegar though is a good one, though I can't even fathom someone putting that stuff on their potato and enjoying it, but to each his own. I think even with the vinegar, given the fact of the potato having such a high GI as well as the fat grams of french fries, I'd say to stay clear. I'd say yes, the GI could possibly be lower, but still high IMHO. There's the alternative of sweet potato fries though;) As for the GI, lower GI is best, but do remember this, if you put a high GI food with a low GI food you'll have a moderate GI rating. I think a GI of 70 and lower is okay for foods in general. Pasta, should be ww and cooked al dente or durum whole wheat-white should be avoided if at all possible. The extruding process has some to do with it as well. If you read the SB INFORMATION BOARDS you'll find some info on pasta as well as acidic foods, like vinegar, that play a role in this WOE:) Hope this helps a bit!

COUNTRY, you did great this week, but like you said, you need to slow down a bit, esp. if you aren't seeing any results from the walking, as I'm the same. I need to find something to do other than walking - maybe if I can get the JCC to give us a discounted membership I'd get in to doing some other stuff. Going to try this week.

JACKK, which recipe was it that you made? What did you top it with? Sorry to hear your butt is hurting you. An MRI for your butt? I hope it's nothing serious, but what the heck can one do to their rear end? At least you're taking it easy today, maybe that would be better for a little while.

HEART, I got 38 on the test. It's me for sure! Lots of beans I see, I can only imagine the music that will be coming from your house!!! If you can find when you posted the pics initially, what board they are on, I can figure out how to do it probably.

MONET, thanks for posting all those FF! How are you feeling today?

Gotta run, will have to p/u where I left off later!

Hey chicks!

JACK-K: The Wyndham is my absolute FAV! It is so nice. That is where we stay when ever we go to the Quarter. The beds are SOOOO comfy! it is really nice. So, I'll book a room for the weekend and we'll make plans to play! I'm so excited! Hubby is checking the LSU schedule as we speak! HAHA! He said "IT DEPENDS ON WHAT LSU GAME IS THAT WEEKEND!" I'm so happy! I just can't wait! Is it the Wyndham Canal Place or the Wyndham River Front? They are very close - and both close to Harrahs. We have stayed at both. Let me know! Get my e-mail from Deb. I don't want to post it on the board - seems like I did that once and i started getting all kinds of crap e-mails from wierd web sites! haha!

DEB: I am all for a party at the Loupe's Lodge! Just let me know when! Please send my e-mail to Jack-K so that we can make meeting arrangements for October! Thanks a million!

Talk to you ladies later!

 Hi Everyone.

I've missed ya'll lately. Wanted to let you know how things are for me and to let you know about some changes I made in my diet and exercise that have helped me get over my weight stall.

Well at work we are going through a major reorganization. I've known it was coming for over 1 year but thought by now they would have told us what the changes would be or let us know we need to be looking for new jobs. Well the transistion date is Nov. 3 and they still have not told us anything. That is only 1 month away and if I need to be looking...it would be nice for them to let me know. I hated to start looking for something else because even though my work can be stressful...it is very fulfilling and over the years I have really enjoyed it. As with any reorganization there are huge rumors and suppositions without any true facts.

So needless to say I've been pretty bummed and concerned. About 4 weeks ago, it really was getting to me and I started to eat more and not only more but the wrong foods. So for about 3 weeks, while I didn't gain a whole lot I was stalling. I stayed at 167 the whole time. Then last Saturday night I was in a bookstore and my DH showed me the Curves book. It has really helped me to get re-motivated. The diet part is very much like Atkins for 2 weeks and then SB for the rest. I have followed the Atkins part this week and I am down to 161 :D I also started the excercise routine in the book. I use the stretch tubes and do the aerobics also. Basically the theory on the excercise is to complete a strength training excercise for 40 seconds and then do some type of aerobics for 40 seconds. You then alternate strength and aerobics for about 30 minutes. I can already feel the difference and I know it help me with the weight loss. You do the excercises 3 times a week. ON the other days I go for a 30-40 minute walk. I would really recommend this to Country and Deb. No expensive gym and it is really pretty simple. Because you're like me and like to walk...this is the perfect solution. I will be back on SB this coming week but limiting my starchy carbs to 2 servings a day. Now I am only 21 pounds from goal and I should be on the downhill slide :)

The other interesting thing about the Curves book was maintenance. He swears that if you follow his plan you can keep the weight off. What he encourages people to do is find their low weight, then eat like normal non dieting people. Then once you go up 5 pounds, eat Atkins like for 72 hours...and you should have dropped the 5 pounds back. You keep repeating this and soon instead of gaining the 5 pounds back in a few days...it will be a few months. Of course you still have to keep excercising:s:

Today I've already done the strength excercises. DD is at Auburn for the Auburn game. DS has 4 teen boys over for spend the night and DH is at work. I'm a reader and I have Kay Hooper's latest book ready to go after I finish this post.

Heart..I scored a 38 on the quizz. Like you I am big on honesty, trust and loyalty. I am standoffish until I get to know you but I also sometimes just don't want to excert the energy to get someone to like me. They have to like me for who I am ;) I think it would be great for you to go to the church for the excercises. Don't worry about how the other women look...just enjoy the time. You sound more happier these days! It's amazing how having little ones with colds and such will really take a toll on your feeling good. I know when my kids were little I felt so helpless when they were sick and miserable...plus they made me miserable too!

BOB...lots of football today!

Gator...Sounds like you have really been busy lately.

Missy and Jack-k...I use to go to NO about 3 times a year because my sister lived there. I love the French Quarter. My ancestry is all French so I think it touches my DNA that remembers my past lives! Have fun.

Teensy...we scored the same thing on the quizz. Interesting.

Fillise...glad you got the DX to agree to give you some relief. Hope politics in our fair state get better.

Hi to all the newbies and everyone else.

Morning all--actually it's afternoon here. I've been a lazy baby today.

Fruit and Jackie--The best steak I've EVER had was at Dickie Brennens in the Quarter. It was very expensive, but worth every penny. You can get a sumptious and totally OP meal there every easily. I know that's not a help on inexpensive, but if you are going to spurge--that's one that's well worth it imho.

BOB--yes I'm staying home from the game today. I simply have no energy and feel like I need the weekend to recharge the ole batteries. besides I want to be in fighting form when that bunch from the north invades next weekend. What was their name again......?:s:

Deb--I've got a coin jar to empty out. I take minne to the machine at the grocery store, but they charge 5 cents on the dollar. I wonder if my bank would let me use their counter?

Pancho--I hope you enjoyed you game! I also hope your DD does well while her teacher is out.

Teensy--you are right. There should be an easier way to shut the whole system down. But you know it is only recently that the entire medical establishment has taken "women's" complaints weriously. I mean this has only been going on since the beginning of time, but for like the first 6 or 7 illlenia it's been "all in our heads." Which brings me to some other sore points. I mean do you read the warnings that say not to flush sanitary products. I mean over half the world's population requires the use of "sanitary products" for a good chuck of their lives. Didn't the lugheads designing the systems ever think that maybe they needed to design systems that could handle that stuff?????? NOOOOO, because they were men and they don't like to think about that stuff. It's the same way with the tax system. How much more expensive is it to be a woman as opposed to a man? I mean we have to buy the sanitary products (one type of heavy days, one type for light days, liners for spotting, etc) and the medication (cramps, bloating, homocidal feelings). But do we get to deduct any of these products as medical expenses?????? NOOOOOOO. I mean it is not like they are luxuries. We can't do without them, but did the lugheads that decide what qualifies as a medical deducation think of those things???? NOOOOOOOO. SO I say there ought to be an easy, safe and inexpensive way to shut it all down when a woman is ready. Whew! I'll climb down off my soapbox now!

Uh-oh. That little rant tuckered me all out.

Today is a special day in my house. On the last Satruday in September two years ago a friend of mine and I had a yard sale together. My friend's mother sent three little kittens to the sale. Two were already spoken for, but she decided to try to see if someone would take the last little kitten too. When they arrived I opened the box containing the single little kitten. Cowering in the corner was the tiniest, cutest, sweetest black kitten I'd ever seen. I took her out of the box and she snuggled into my chest. As the day progressed no one wanted the little kitten. When the sale was over and the little kitten was still there, my friend announced she would have to take the kitten to the pound because she already had three cats. Well, I'd already fallen in love with that little kitten and so I brought her home with me. On the box it said that she had been born on the 4th of July so I named her in honor of the Liberty Bell. And so Miss Belle and I are celebrating our second anniversary today! She will get her favorite dinner of fancy feast (seafood) tonight.

Time to watch some football!

I hope everyone's teams win today!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MS BELLE AND SUSAN!!! :bravo:
Wish I were there to celebrate with y'all!!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
Give that blessed little ball of fur a BIG CAN of FANCY FEAST!!!!

OH...MY..GAWD.....HOW I WISH I WAS IN LEXINGTON WITH JACKIE AND DAWN!!!!! GOD CATS!!!!! THEY ARE STOMPING THE CROCS!!!!

When I lived in Lexington, I went to EVERY game with a die hard CATS FAN ....He would be yelling for THE CATS.... I would be yelling for who ever they were playing....we sat every week in the middle of all the KY FANS, so needless to say, I caused a ruckess EVERY WEEK!!! Back then, we could drink in the stadium and believe me, after a few EARLY TIMES AND WATER, BOB could give it back with the best of them!!!!
Kate said just five minutes ago...."I never thought I'd ever see the day when you would be pulling for KY!" and my response was.... "SURELY TO GAWD YOU DIDN'T THINK I WOULD BE FOR FLA DID YOU????"
I'm going crazy here...I've seen so many people that I know when the camera goes thru the crowd...but I haven't located my
football buddy , but I know he's there.
I'm sure that both JACKIE and DAWN are doing enough yelling for me, but my neighbors are probably going to call the cops on me if I don't quieten down some!

SO...as y'all can probably tell, I haven't gotten a dang thing done today...we've had three storms already this afternoon and more moving in off the gulf...

WELL CRAP!!!! FLA GOT A TOUCHDOWN!!! NO EXTRA POINT!!!! :p

SUSAN....I'll send you a copy of ROCKY TOP so you can get used to it!!! Wish I wasn't so broke, cause I'd be right there with you next week....causing a ruckess in the AUBURN SECTION ;)

Gotta go...Don't forget ....watch football....it's good for your cardio!!!!!

Hello everyone,

I am new here. Hope that is okay.

I started SB two months ago. In March 2003, my grand, other passed away. Her body was ravaged by heart disease and diabetes. I was extremely sad., gained a lot of weight, but then decided that I could not allow diabete and heart disease decimate my body and life.

So I picked up the SB book after hearing it recommended by 3 different people in the past year. It was an eye opener for me. I can not even put a french fry in my mouth now. I neve thought in a million years I could give up potatoes and pasta. but I have.

Month one was awesome. I lost 14 pounds. They melted off like butter. Month 2 however, I lost some focus and started allowing some refined sugar in ( I am a high school teacher and that takes up so much of my focus and time.) But I wokr out 6X a week either toning or jogging. SO I only lost 4 pounds this month.

As I enter October (month 3) I want to regain focus so I am looking here. You seem like such a energetic group.

Take care,
Rebekah

Momtomaya...Welcome to the board. It is slow on the weekends but will pick up over the week. I usually can only post on the weekends so I'm usually a little lonely here! Glad you joined:) I've been successful on SB and have learned that you have to watch your portions and when you slow down...cut out more of the carbs. On SB I normally have 2-3 starchy carbs a day but I was stalling out so this past week I cut out almost all of them. I will be going back to SB this week and hope not to stall again. I have 2 children 16 and 15 and like you I multi-task too!

BOB:D Arkansas beat Bama YES!!!!! AU had an easy win...hope we don't get too confident after that easy win...Rocky Top has their hands full right now huh?

Have to run.

Hey all, just wanted to post a quickie this evening. Had a good time at our weekly family pot luck. Weather was gorgeous. And looks like it will be that way for a week or so. I think we are going to try and get to the lake on Monday, and come home Tuesday night. Then we will go back on Saturday and bring the boat home on Sunday. Can't believe summer is over.

Well, my dear son left this afternoon. He went in to stay with my brother tonight, as he works over on the coast, and is giving Bill a ride back over. That way Bill doesn't have to pay storage fees on his truck. He will be gone about 6 weeks. They are doing King Crab this time out. We are supposed to get a box for our Christmas dinner. Dh and I will get the Prime Rib to go with it. It will be nice to have my house back to myself, but I will miss him also. ;)

Beach-- That is interesting. Wonder which ones were the same?? Sounds like you have things in control now. Glad the stall is over for you, they can be very exasperating. Mine lasted over 6 months!! Thank God I decided I would try SB, it got me losing again. That is interesting about the maintaining. What is the reasoning behind the pounds staying off for longer times after doing the gain for so long??

Fillise--TOUCHE' I agree whole heartedly. Sore subject for me also!!

BOB-- Glad you are having a good time with the games. Guess I am missing something living in the PNW huh??

Momtomaya--Welcome to SB. Sound like you are ready to get back on track.....there is a whole lot of great support here, and also lots of great friends. Hope to see you around.

Well sweet dream all, see you tomorrow!

Jackie and Debelli, thank you so much for taking the time to type this information out for me. Very kind of you. And everyone else, who welcomed me, thank you very much. I'm very glad that I found this site.

The pasta that I bought was either WW or the first ingredient was Duram Semolina. I'll double check that latter, though, to make sure that it's 100% Semolina.

I made a mistake on the bread I bought, though. It has no sugars, but malt barley is listed in the ingrediants. Darn. I'll do better next time.

My book arrived yesterday, so that will help.

Thank you again for your help.

Here a nibble ...there a nibble...every where a nibble nibble....

That's what I get for making a truly southern feast of childhood favorites. :) Oh well, since the crew doesn't eat like me its bound to happen from time to time. Fall just isn't fall without sweet potatoes. I should have opted for baked instead of pie. But I only had a bite or two and I'm done. No more sneaking in there. I won't list all the other indiscretions....let's just say...I cook too good and illegal for my own good. :D

Welcome MomtoMaya! I have five kiddos that keep me jumpin' We home school and live on a little farm. One day it might actually be a farm..LOL These guys are the best. Once again welcome.

Teensy...((hugzz)) I bet you will miss him. My daughter plans on going away to college next year...I am sooooo not ready.

Beach....Good morning.

Susan...happy Anniversay. I bet Belle is one spoiled kitty. I love cats. One of mine is close to be unloved at the moment. They have decided that my bed is the litter box...they keep wetting in it. And what's so bad is it's mostly on my husbands side.....bad kitty.

Howdy Green M....I don't know the answer to your question. But wanted to welcome you.

Deb....I agree. I went back and checked my notes. I've walked 128 miles the last three weeks. And over 270 for the last seven weeks and haven't lost an ounce! agh :) And it ain't like we are crawling out there. I can't wait till we are able to get some bikes. If that doesn't work I guess I will have to be happy where I'm at or go nuts trying to change something that won't budge.

Well, I'm off for a bit. Robert is going hunting this afternoon so I don't have to cook this evening. Leftovers...yeah.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

good morning to all,
I am a wife, daughter, mom, grandmother, and a nurse. RG and I have our 18 year old grandson living with us for now. Work full time in an Intensive Care unit, love to cook and travel, and watch Dallas Cowboys. Hope we can beat the Jets, I think Parsel would like that, at least I know RG and I would. Off to church, have a great day and live the SB way.

OH MY GAWD!!! Talk about winning games in the last few seconds!!!! MY VOLS followed THE CROCS lead and did the same thing! They just thought S.C. was going to be an easy win!

BEACH...you're so right...they had their hands full, and they almost overflowed to the ground! I believe they honestly thought
they could waltz right out there and lead the pack right on thru the 4th quarter! WRONG!!!!

CONGRATS TO ALL THE WINNERS!!!! and my heartfelt SORRY to JACKIE AND DAWN!!!! BOB tried...hosestly I did, even had Kate pulling for the CATS....just didn't happen though...typical 4th quarter KY ball....of yesteryear!

I'm off to do....YES....laundry!!!

Good morning all-
Thanks for all the welcomes. I am happy to be here. I feel newly motivated.

Question- Is the South Beach Diet similar to SugarBusters? I read a little on it, and it sounds a lot like SB.

Beachfan- Thanks for the tip on cutting carbs to jump start weight loss once again. I will try that. I would really like to see the scale move down again.

Take care all,

The weather here is just BEAUTIFUL:cool:  The sun has the fall shine and there is a crisp wind in the air. I love this time of year. I like the leaves falling but since I have 2 kids and 1 dog that love the outdoors...my carpet and floors get lots of leaves in the house!

Yesterday was a great day for me....ate well and had a nice walk with hubby in the afternoon. I've cleaned house already today, started laundry (that is never finished) and have my grocery list and coupons ready for the store. Will probably have pork chops for dinner. Haven't quite decided yet.

Country  Try using a stretch tube at home and doing the strengthening excercises. It has really helped me over my stall. I still walk every other day. You have to trick your body into losing weight! Are you keeping the carbs down some? Eating enough?

Teensy: It would be interesting to know which answers we had the same on the quiz. I thought it was interesting that most people on the board said they were around the 136-142 range. I know you'll miss your son but will enjoy the peace and quiet too. It really is a conflicting emotion. :?:

Green RN and Lesbia...welcome!

BOB :D :D Know you are glad the Vols won. I guess next week you and I will be going head to head when AU plays Tenn. My DS is going to the game. I thought about just going to Auburn to soak in the atmosphere even though we don't have tickets. When we win I could join in the celebration at Toomer's Corner. Right Susan

Have a great day everyone.

Hi,
Thanks for all the welcomes. I am making fried chicken with stone ground whole wheat flour; brown rice with celery, onions, and chicken bulion, and boiled okra with tomatoes. Trying very hard to stay within the rules of SB. Any suggestions? So far I
have lost 13 pounds in 6 weeks and I have not started an exercise program yet. Should I be loosing weight faster, as I have a long way to go? started at 242, so my first goal is 200. Is it safe to shoot for Christmas to make my first goal?
My husband is eating most of the same foods I am eating, but my 18 year old grandson doesn't care fro the diet, any suggestions?
Oh, yes did I forget to tell you all that 6 weeks ago I was told I was now a Diabetic? TIME TO WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I planned on being good this weekend- BUT THE KIDS ARE DRIVING ME INSANE!! Geez- I need a break. They are being their worst. Anyone ever have so much that they just go off? Well, that's me today. Boogie's had at least 3 spankings today and Ashley has been made to go to bed. I have to say that my sweet little toddler is starting to be a spoiled brat. So I'm putting my foot down and it's not going so well. I wish someone would keep them for awhile and just let me relax. Mom hardly ever does and hubby refuses to watch both of them at the same time. I decided to treat myself yesterday to my first manicure. Too bad I had Ashley with me not minding and aggravating me the whole time. Anyway, my nails look good. The tech thought I had manicures before-she said my cuticles were in good condition. Well, because of the stress-induced weekend, my eating hasn't been that good(again). I'll eventually get this right. Hubby's at a friends house watching the Nascar race-must be nice. Can you guys tell that I'm just slightly irritated? I rented Confidence last night and watched it- it was okay, but I'm not a big fan of that kind of "style" of movie. Then I watched Adaptation- it lost my interest and I cleaned up and left it running and then it started to get better towards the end. I'm bored so I'm going to see what else I can find to watch, if the kids leave me alone enough to enjoy it.

Good Sunday Evening All:wave:

Just got home, took ELI'S daughter DENISE out with us today, nothing exciting, short day as ELI has a funeral to go to for one of his employees father.

Spoke to FROGLOVER and MELF yesterday - both have been ultra busy but say hello:)

Want to get in some posts before someone asks for the computer...

TEENSY, I've made lasagna with ww noodles that everyone loved and was so easy. Spinach, mushrooms, garlic, spices mixed with an egg and ricotta and shredded mozz. cheese, then the usual sauce and sprinkled with shredded cheese and parm. cheese-I thought about making it the other day, but of course, it was just a though:shrug: Summer over? Not if you come to Miami!

PANCHO, one thing about the zucchini cake, it's def. better when it's had time to sit a day or so, maybe the same would hold true for the spice squares. I think you chose the lesser of 3 evils with the muffins, besides, you're at your low, you can splurge from time to time and not feel guilty.

FRUIT, thought you'd probably like seeing those MG items-aren't they a hoot! I'd wear them for sure! What did DH say about the idea so I know when to spill the beans to everyone?

BEACH, I hope your job tells you what's going on and doesn't leave you suspended like you are, it's not right. I hope everything goes the way you'd like it to. I do have the CURVES book but just read bits and pieces, I didn't care for it really, but maybe if you can tell me what pages you are referring to I can read it before I take it back to the library. I'm glad to see you are doing better and are so much closer to your goal weight now-you'll do it for sure!

FILLISE, sorry I missed you at home, nothing important, just a friendly hello!:D The bank where I go put these coin counters in each branch lobby for anyone to just go in and use, another way to get customers. No harm in asking your bank if they have a counter to count your coins for you. Place here in Winn Dixie and Albertsons have the nerve to charge 10% for counting them!

BOB, I can see you were probably rolling around in the lounger yesterday, I think I could hear you yelling down here! Good talking to you yesterday, as usual. So did you find any of those euphemisms that you liked?

MOM, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign3.jpg Glad you've decided to join us. I see you aren't new to the site, but I hope you'll find that you feel right at home in our little area of the boards:) I think, despite your small set back, you've done wonderfully. To lose 14 pounds in a months time is stellar, and far more than the average of 2lbs a week, then another 4lbs more, really it's great and you should be applauded:cp: I'm sure you'll be not only refocused as you start your 3rd month, but hopefully enspired and encouraged by all the wonderful people on this board who will not only offer you their advice and personal inspiration, but friendship as well:D Oh, and typos, we don't worry about those, you don't need to have a 4yr old to make them, I think we all can do a fine job of making them without any outside intervention;) Oh, yes, the SOBE diet is almost identical to SB in PHASE II, Atkins for Phase One.

LES, I wouldn't worry too much about the barley malt, esp. if it's way down on the list of ingredients, which it probably is. How many grams of sugar does the bread have per serving? If it's 3 or less, it's okay. Please don't hesitate to ask questions, esp. with the book. It can be misleading, confusing and contradictory at times. If you can find a copy of MICHEL MONTIGNAC'S book, EAT YOURSELF SLIM at your local library, this will help as well. When you get a chance, let us know a little more about you. Again. welcome!

COUNTRY, I thought about you last night when I read an article in the latest SHAPE MAGAZINE about what happens when we reach a plateau-it talked about the problem with doing the same repetitive exercise and not seeing any results. If you can't find a copy of it to read, let me know and I'll scan it and send it to you. I think we both need a def. change - but to do what, that's the question:?:

GREEN, sounds like you are a jack of all trades there! We have a few nurses on the board, so you are in good company there. How'd your chicken come out with using the ww flour? I haven't had fried chicken in probably about 10 years, maybe more. I used to love KFC when I was younger. You are doing great with your weight loss and losing an average 2lbs a week is not only awesome, but a good rate as they say, one can lose 1-2lbs safely a week, any more than that is not. Suggestions, there's a ton of them out there but the best one is to stick with us here on this board and you'll learn them in time. My best suggestion, don't cheat, be true to this WOE and you'll lose the weight. I don't know if your goal for Xmas of 200 is feasible or not, that's about a 10lb a month loss, more than what one may lose safely, but I wouldn't say impossible. What's more important is not the number you acheive on the scale, but how you much better you feel about not only yourself, but your attitude of how you are acheiving your goal. Whatever losses you have until that point will be wonderful. Can't give you any ideas for your 18yo GS, my 17yo DS is hard enough to feed being a vegetarian. If he doesn't like your food, I'd say let him cook his own;) As for being Diabetic, there have been many people who've been diagnosed with borderline diabetes or have been on diabetic pills who've lost the weight on SB and were able to be relieved from taking the pills - here's hoping!!!

HEART, wish your pampering experience had been better. Kids like to test the parents I think. I'm not sure it gets much easier though, sorry to say. So, you didn't like Adaptation? I have it on hold at the library. Hope this week is better and you have less stress:)

Okay gals, I'm outta here til tomorrow morning. Hope I didn't miss anyone, if so, it wasn't intentional. Will be back to start the new weekly board, get in my walk (hopefully) and then spend ANOTHER day with ELI - yes, he's off on a Monday, unheard of, and two days in a row - rare. Maybe I can get in a little extra exercise if I'm good:s:

The week is almost gone, and yet I am going to do a quick post. The weekend has been horrible for me. I have been stressed, and way too busy. Tomorrow I have to go work with the wicked witch of the bakery, and I am dreading it. My sister is in town, and I have been trying to spend time with her, but there was so much going on, it has been hard. Eating has been bad too. I made dinner for 30 for a luncheon for church today. I made lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and cheesecake. I was not staying for the luncheon, because of my sister being here, so I dropped it off and left. Unfortunately, I did nibble on stuff while making it. I ate entirely too much cake crumbs, and licks of icing, and even indulged in a snack bag of chips. I feel pretty nasty right now, but I hope it will help me keep from doing it again. We went to church this evening, then afterwards went out for dinner with a group of people from church, and a man from England who graduated from the Royal Academy of Performing Arts. He was wonderful, and I had a great time chatting with him. Time to finish up getting ready for bed. Night everyone!

Good Evening all. Been a busy but quiet day. Bill left yesterday, so the dogs and I just kinda moped around today. Did get his bedding all washed up and ready for when he comes home again.

Dh took me out to a breakfast buffet this morning. Ate way too much, and with the choices that I had, it was way too much fat. But I didn't eat many carbs, so I will call it a PP day. I did stay away from all the nonlegal foods. And we didn't win anything at the casino either!

After we got home I did a bunch a raking.....so hopefully I worked some of my breakfast off. Didn't do lunch because I was still too full. I know that is not a good thing to do, but I just couldn't eat.

Lesbia--Welcome to Sugar Buster's. This is a great way to eat, and a super healthy one!! You will finds answers and all kinds of support here. Hope to get to know you better, and good luck on your weight loss journey.

Country-- Boy the house sure seemed quiet today. What a difference one person can make in a family, huh!!

GreenRN-- Welcome to you also....if I haven't already!! You will love this support board, it is the BEST!! Sounds like you are doing great so far. Each person looses at a different rate, so it is hard to know . As for your Grandson.....just cook as you do for yourself, and it is a healthy meal without really being diet food. Lean meat, whole grains, fruits, and limited sugars. Of course he will probably still want some junk food.....I have two boys so I know what they can put away.

BOB-- Sounds like you had a great time watching some close games. Will your poor little heart hold out if the excitement is like this every Saturday?? Sure hope so!!

Beach--I know the feeling.....I should sweep my floor at least 3 times a day.....but I don't. 3 dogs in and out all day long!! Ours is mostly fir needles. Did some raking today because Dh cleaned all the needles off the patio roof. He gets the easy job of spraying them off with the spray nozzle.....I get to rake!! Go figure. Guess I can just claim it as exercise for today.

Heart-- I know the feeling. I remember when my boys were little.....oh there were times that I was begging Calgon to take me away!! Hang in there, you really can do this. But you already know that.....as you have done a great job already!!

Deb-- Yes, that lasagna does sound good. It will be one of my new meals to try soon. I think summer may be back here too. Has been in the eighties again. Had to drag the hose back out to water the garden. Was hoping though that I wouldn't have to mow the yard again, but looks like I will. Darn!!

Monet-- If the wicked witch bothers you.....just throw water on her. Isn't that suppose to melt them?? Sorry you are having such a rough time with your eating today....tomorrow is a new day. Climb back up on the ole wagon, we are here for you.

Sweet dreams friends.....
