Well, I almost gave my dh a HEART attack when he got home this afternoon. I bought this beautiful chocolate colored bra and panty set when I bought my shoes to go with my new outfits and it was delivered today. I took the stuff out and looked at the panties thinking, "Ain't NO way my big butt is gonna fit in these I don't care what size it says they are." Well, I was wrong, they did fit and I put the set on and walked around in the condo waiting for Jack to get home. He thought he had died and gone to heaven! Much better response than I would have thought he'd have! :o So that just shows you young ladies that when you get old, Viagra is not necessarily a necessity! Stick to satin and lace! It will work EVERY time!

talk to you tomorrow!

WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's woes. Get that griping off your chest. Anything and everything is up for grabs!

Morning ladies! I was sleeping and dh came up and woke me up to ask me something so here I am posting EARLY as usual.

I GET A: :bravo: for points. Boy, I am sure impressed at what exercising has done for me. I was showing dh my "tricks" last night, which for you 20-40 lb losers ain't nothin' but for me is super human, like being able to cross my legs at the knee and stay that way, laying flat on the bed and lifting my leg straight up in the air and keeping it there, standing on tip toes, stuff like that. Jack of course sees the more logical things in his mind, my butt is smaller and softer, my boobs are smaller (though that bothers him probably! ), when I am sitting, the promised land can now be seen. I am really glad I have gotten my mind clicked on to exercise because without it, I know I wouldn't be able to do what I am doing, losing weight or not!

Talk to you later

Hello All,

Faye--I'm glad life is treating you so well! I haven't got as much weight to loose as you but I to have tricks that I can do that I couldn't before. I guess my gripe is that I remember tricks I could do at 135 that I can't do now at 170. Like wear high heel shoes. I exercised yesterday and I drank my water but I didn't eat to well. I want to stay with the challenge though and woke up this morning feeling really motivated. Can I give in a weekend day to make up for not eating right yesterday?

everyone thanks for posting you are quite inspirational

09-10-2003, 08:58 AM
Mornin' Ladies! I'm running late, so this will be short....
Got all 4 points yesterday, though I tried hard to talk myself out of exercising. Did it anyway....I think I'm addicted to sweat! Once I start sweating, I feel great and don't want to stop. It's just getting out the door and on the treadmill.

Faye, I'm so happy for you and your new underwear !  You've worked so hard and we're all proud of you.........remind me again, when is that 5mile walk you're doing?

Joy--Great job on the exercise! You'll have that tight butt in no time :)

Missy--we missed you, glad you're back.

Later all,

09-10-2003, 09:21 AM
Good Morning Chickadees,

pts for yesterday: 2 pts for program, 1 pt for water, and 1 pt for exercise.

Faye, WOW...new drawers!! and a new brassiere!!!! or as the folks use to call em' "step - ins". I can just see you dancing around......bet Jack WAS pleased!!!  :s:

Mirabelly, have a great day:spin: :strong:

Debbie, GREAT JOB!! YOU GOT IN THAT EXERCISE!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, as far as the water goes, do you feel like you are "floating", I know I do;) ;)

Joy, I get tired just reading about all of your activity!!!:dizzy: :high: YOU ARE DOING SO WELL!!! I AM VERY PROUD OF YOU.:cp:

Wednesday Woes: DON'T HAVE ANY :D

09-10-2003, 11:14 AM
Good morning girls! How are we all doing today. I went out to dinner last night, had a chicken salad croissant AND STILL made my plan. Rock on! ;)

I am 4 points yesterday.

Nothing else much to report right now, my work 'ex' is giving me drama yesterday, but you know what? I don't feel like worrying about him. It's SO not worth it.

09-10-2003, 11:15 AM
Also, congrats to Faye and her skivvies!

09-10-2003, 11:18 AM
Wow Faye, I've been away 2 days and look what I've missed. What fun. Must get myself some satin undies. I'll wait till our December deadline and then get a scarlet set.:o

I've been good - I get 4 points for Tuesday. I GOT ON THE TREADMILL TODAY and did 20 min. on an incline!!! And my back doesn't feel too bad. I think I should get 4 points for today, but I'll wait till later before I start crowing, late night is the danger period.

Julie, how are you doing with the journal?

Everybody seems to be on track. I'll post again later tonight providing we have electricity. There was a fire at the power station yesterday morning, ( hence I have not been able to post). The power has been erratic all day today as well.

09-10-2003, 11:34 AM

Missy: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points!

Pam: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points!

DebbieL: YOU GET A: :high: for points! You have 10 days out of 14 for the challenge starting this last Monday so YEP, any 10 will do but try to get as close to 14 as possible if you can!

Julie: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points! Oct 25th is the Race for the Cure (for me, walk for the cure!)

Joy: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points!

My sil calls underwear my size "big girl panties" but I am now able to wear "elegant tushie and boobie covers" so I am coming up in the world. Actually, Just My Size has some gorgeous sets that are cheaper and I may invest in some of those too! Got to keep Jack hoppin!

I just finished 3.4 miles !!! :cb: :cb: :cp: That's the farthest I have ever walked. So now I really know I can do the 5K even though I was pooped. I am hoping the area where the race is , is not totally uphill or something. I did walk probably 1.5 miles of the total uphill though and did A-OK! I apologize for thumping my chest about this, but I actually cried coming back knowing what I was accomplishing. All of this, the weight loss, stamina increase, smaller size, different clothing sizes, etc is like finding a friend you have been looking for a long time. I told Jack last night that for me it is not an ego thing, but for myself it is getting healthy and being able to do things I couldn't and for others I just want to be an example to someone who says, "There is NO way I can do this. I can't walk or exercise because I am too fat, I can't stop overeating, I can't control anything in my life. I am just going to die fat." I just want to shout, "look at me, yes you CAN!" If through this thread, and my website, I get just one person turned on to bettering their life, I am totally thrilled.

I am sticky and icky from walking so I am going to hop in the shower.

Faye :)

Good Morning Ladies!!! I got all my points yesterday!! Yeah!! The bike ride was fun, but harder than i thought it would be...but in time it will just be a breeze. i went to bed last night mad at my hubby... woke up tired and not quite my optomistic self. This too shall pass... thats my only gripe tho. I am hoping the weather gets nicer so i can get my kitchen table repainted today...

Hello All

Just a note

Sandy--I can WEAR high heels, I just can't WALK in them. See Faye's post for an idea of what I currently do in them! Walking would be nice though.

I will check back later... this is afterall my new home of sorts...

I can honestly say I don't think I have ever seen a woman look bad in heels, but just like Bras, MEN invented them so of course they are uncomfortable! Can you see a man walking around all day in a pair of high heels or in a bra that is climbing up? They would do what they do when they need to "re-arrange" just do it in public!

I would love to be able to wear high heels again. I bet I haven't worn heels over an inch high in 20 years. I will never look good in shoes as I am flatfooted, but I can dream I guess and that never stopped me anyway!

You ladies are all beautiful peaches!

Hi Ladies!

Wow, this thread has been busy! I got all my 4 points yesterday - went on the exercise bike for 35 minutes and did 13.5 km, although I took it a little slower than usual as my knee was a bit sore (water retention I think).

Faye: Congratulations on the sexy underwear! Whoo-hoo! So glad that you (and Jack) are reaping the benefits of all your hard work, you deserve it!

Ritu: Well done for trying out the treadmill! Did you go to the gym, or do you have one at home?

Joy: I'm so happy for you that you feel full of energy and vitality. One of the main reasons I started this quest to lose weight was because I was fed up of feeling so drained and lethargic. Now I have started exercising, I feel so much better in myself and it is definately true that the more exercise you do, the more energetic you feel.

Missy: Did I hear you say that you are going to Ireland? Whereabouts? I am planning to move to Ireland - I'm looking for a job at the moment, and as soon as I get one, I'm off! I went to the West coast last year, around Galway - we are hoping to move there or the South coast around Cork. Tell me your plans - I LOVE Ireland, it is so beautiful and the people are really friendly - you'll love it!

Pam, Julie, SandyB, Debbie-Lee (have I forgotton anyone?) - Keep at it girls - we can do this!

Wednesday woe : I want a job in Ireland and there doesn't seem to be anything about at the moment.:stress: :stress: :stress:

Hi again,

Sandy I know what u mean about this being a sort of home - I feel incomplete unless I've posted. What is fiday.com

I GOT MY 4 POINTS TODAY i.e. Wednesday and 4 FOR YESTERDAY i.e. Tuesday.

Debbie Lee, join the gang, I fall backwards these days when I try and walk in heels.

Faye, you have helped me for sure. I would never have attempted the treadmill today if it wasn't for all you lovely ladies inspiring me.

Joy, whew! I feel out of breath just reading about your activities.

Amanda, We went to Ireland on our honeymoon, well not exactly, we had actually gone to Italy and then we sort of jumped on a train and went off to Ireland. Those were the days! Maybe satin underwear will do the trick. I'd gone to see the physiotherapist to ask about which medicines I should carry for the pilgrimage on Saturday- apparently the climb is more than 30 km. Anyway she was trying to discourage me from going and then she sort of said why don't u try the treadmill here for 20 minutes - that will indicate the condition of your back. So I got onto the treadmill and I did it! I'm going back tomorrow for another 'conditioning' session

I'm feeling so good having been on the treadmill today that I can't think of anything I'd like to complain about..

I'm falling asleep, it's 2 a.m. over here. Shall dream of doing a scherezade in scarlet satin underwear.

Amanda - I love you! I'm going to Ireland November 10-17 and I will be arriving in and departing from Shannon. At this point, that is ALL I know and I am getting NERVOUS! My one sorta-bf and I are going together and he is a TERRIBLE planner. Always leaves that to me b/c "I'm good at that kinda thing." Men! But we have vouchers to stay in B&Bs...I know a few things I wanna do, Giant's Causeway, Dublin, Cliffs of Moher, Bunratty feast, Guiness tour and of course, the Blarney stone. But we aren't sure how to approach it all. Ideally, I'd like for us to do a big "loop" around Ireland. Perhaps start to the north and then hit Shannon from the south on the way back. But I'm not sure if this is too ambitious for a week. We are driving ourselves as well. You shouldn't have told me you are an Ireland expert, cause now I'll be grilling you! :) I do have a few questions though. I have an ATM card with "Star" and "Plus" on the back, can I use that in Ireland without any problems? And what type of cllothing should I be wearing in November? Should I get some Euro's before I come over? Or just ATM at the airport? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just totally overwhelmed by this all. If you have ANY suggestions for restaurants, B&Bs, sites to see, etc., I would LOVE if you could help me out in your spare time. Heck, I'd even be happy if you gave me a mini itinerary. I have a hard time judging how long it will take to get places since the roads are smaller and stuff.

WHEW! Sorry for all that, I'm just getting a little stressed about my lack of planning for this trip! Thanks in advance Amanda.

Ritu - www.fitday.com is an online food diary. It's very helpful in tracking one's calories and exercise and even lets you monitor your progress. I really enjoy it!

Well girls, I'm going off to the gym. I'm on track for all 3 goals today, so I should be coming in right OP. But I'll let you know! ;) Night all!

09-10-2003, 06:42 PM
Thanks for clearing up that fidday stuff for me Missy...lol sometimes my mind gets ahead of my fingers...lol Yes, Ritu i really like fit day as well... it figures out everything for u... u just type in what u eat and what u do for exercise. Its easy and its fun... besides its a nice way to track your eating and progress without having clutter(LOL) I also understand completely what u mean about not feeling complete til u post... i feel the same!
the kiddlets are doing their homework now, so once they are finished i will get in some more exercise.
Maybe i will get a short bike ride in this evening... depends... when hubby is away on an overnight its hard to get anything in after the kids are home...
I will check back later dearies....

Sandy :flow1:

We have been busy this afternoon!

Ritu: YOU GET 2: :bravo: :bravo: and you are doing a fabulous job! I am so proud of you!

Amanda: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points and you too are doing great.

Dh came home and the first thing he said was, "Do you have the sexy undies on?" I said, "No, but is this just as good?" and lifted up my shirt (no bra). Our home is definitely a little tilted for people who are AARP age!

I know you are so excited Missy to be going to Ireland. How are things coming along with #1 btw? #2 is just gonna have to cry in his beer and too bad.

Tomorrow is errand running day so I will busy a lot of the day. I will get first post in and then may not get your smileys out until afternoon.

Faye :dizzy:

Ok i'm writing now to crow a little about a tiny hurdle I'm in the process of overcoming...came home from the gym and had a healthful veggie burger and some WOW chips and then a skinny cow for dessert....I'm still under calories for the day but right now I'm in the process of trying not to eat fudge. My stomach actually hurts a little, so I know I'm not hungry, I just know I want that taste in my mouth. GRRRR...BUT, I am overcoming it. ANd if I do decide to have some fudge, I'll STILL be OP...but I AM GONNA BE GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sandy - no prob ;)

Faye - The way it stands right now is that #1 and I are "seeing other people" and #2 and I are "broken up". So we'll see how this all goes. #1 and I are just taking our time and building things between us slowly...no rushing this time. I still feel really bad for hurting him the way that I did, but I can 't rush back into a relationship and I also can't be with someone out of p ity, I have to do what makes ME happy...and do the best I can to make others happy as well. :)

THUSDAY: Time for Us Thursday. Do something for yourself today.

I GOT A: :bravo: for points

09-11-2003, 08:21 AM
Good morning Ladies....I got all four points for yesterday...I have to make this one short,as I am off to go shopping with one of my daughters, and to run some errands...will holler later, everyone take care and have a super day....Joy:)

09-11-2003, 08:48 AM
Hello everyone,

I got all my points yesterday and I feel great! Missy--I'm glad to hear about your trip. My dd who is fifteen has always wanted to see Ireland. Tell us all about it when you get back. Faye--Woww! just keep on movin!

Everyone have a nice day

09-11-2003, 08:57 AM
Morning Ladies!
Points for yesterday....still holdin' strong at "4"!! I'm sorta looking forward to weighing tomorrow, but also sorta scared. I've been sooooo good all week, kept my carbs low, counted my calories, exercised...so what if I STILL didn't lose anything??? Oh well, can't live in fear!

Ritu--I'm doing much better with the journal, thanks. I hope you have a wonderful pilgrimage. I'm sure the meaningfulness (meaningfullness? Is that a WORD???) will help make up for the discomfort of walking all that way. Maybe you can use this as an inspiration to keep walking long distances after you get back.

Missy--I'm soooo jealous of you going to Ireland. My dh and I went to England last year and we had such a great time! We didn't have anything planned either. Just rented a car and drove all over the place, visiting anything that struck our fancy. I really think you'll enjoy yourself more that way than if you over-schedule and try to do too much. Just a note about B&B vouchers......UK B&B's are NOT like American B&Bs!!! Some of them are similar, basically a fance Inn. But most are actually just some bloke's apartment with an extra room. We stayed at all these "picturesque" places in the South, then when we got closer to London, we ended up staying in some old lady's condo. Her granddaughter had gone to college, and she was renting out the extra room! It was kinda like visiting a distant relative that you'd never seen....weird! However, the lady was sooo nice and funny! We just decided to enjoy the novelty of the whole thing. We weren't sure about the whole "Voucher" thing....it sounded dicey, just hand the hotel a coupon and your stay is paid for. But it really is the way they do things over there, and we never had a problem at any of the B&Bs we stayed at. I hope you have a FABULOUS time! I can't wait for the day we can go back across the pond!

Faye--YOU CRACK ME UP!!!!!!! Reading about Jack and your underwear makes me laugh every time! Keep up the good work Babe!

Well, I'm teaching my first ever private dance class today....so I kinda feel obligated to do my housework early. Everyone stay strong and motivated! I'll check back later,

09-11-2003, 10:21 AM
Debbie Lee - Oh I'm sure you'll hear all the details about this trip. My "goal" is to make a little website with a day-by-day account of what we did with pictures, but who knows! Right now I am envisioning our trip to be a little like "National Lampoon's European Vacation." LOL, let's hope it's NOT like that.

Julie - Hmmm ok. I was worred about the B&B vouchers. But now I must admit that I am a bit worried about the B&B's themselves. Though I do know that all our rooms have private bathrooms, so that is my main concern. LOL I'm all for new experiences, but sharing bathroom time with the house owners...ummm...NO! :) Did you and your dh make your reservations before you went? Or as you went? That is something I'm kinda struggling with right now and not sure how to handle it. But I'm glad to hear that it's not AS scary as I'd imagined! :)

Faye - All four for yesterday....even with some fudge. LOL

09-11-2003, 10:29 AM
I'm sitting here with bleach in my hair (can't go and get my hair cut today with gray roots!) so I have a couple minutes to post smileys before getting downstairs and getting on the glider and washing this junk out.

JOY, DEBBIEL, MISSY AND JULIE: you all get: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: FOR EACH OF YOU!

Missy: I found these great slimfast snack bars that are like candy bars and they are yummy. Maybe I told you before, I can never remember whom I told what. If you haven't tried them, you should. They really satisfy the sweet tooth.

Julie: You would be horrified if you were Samantha and could sit in my house and watch the two of us! We are just a nutty old couple that are still horny 31 years later! AND YOU KNOW WHAT? I wouldn't change it for anything. 90% of the country would kill for what I have.

Well, I gotta run or my hair will fall out and I won't NEED a haircut.

09-11-2003, 10:37 AM
Good Morning Ladies!! Faye... all 4 yesterday!! U keep on rockin and rollin... I am sure Jack just loves it!! ;) U know u are right... alot of people would kill for what u have... even i am jealous.. hahahaha... As i like to say , beauty is in the eye of the beholder... and i have great eyes! I will have to work on that with my dh... altho with his meds its not really his fault... he used to be such a horndog...lol Will have to just keep on trying!!
HEy JOy... i wanted to ask what kind of vitamins u take... i need to get some more and maybe i can find them around here...
Hope everyone has an awesome day... my friend and i are going for a bike ride... its always more fun with someone else... most things in life are like that arent they...
My ds Sawyer just loves school... its so damn cute to watch him get on the bus and wave goodbye... of course the first day i cried... not him tho... he was sooooooo ready!! Its a relief to know he likes it so much...
I will check back later... everyone have a STUPENDOUS day!!
Take care of U

Good Thursday Morning,

Missy, your trip to Ireland sounds fantastic, have loads of fun and stay safe.

About reserving rooms at B&Bs, we just called the night before we planned to stay somewhere......BUT we went in FEBRUARY! No problem finding vacancies. This time of year, I imagine you might have a bit more trouble. Go ahead and decide where you're staying the first night and make a reservation now. I don't know what time your plane gets there, but we got to London at 6:30 in the morning, their time. We thought we'd just get to the B&B around 4 pm.......we almost crashed the car, we were so tired! Jet lag is nothing to fool around with! Tell them that you will want to check in as soon as you get to town, even if it's early. That way you can take a nap, if you want. We slept in a parking lot because we didn't want to be "rude" and show up early!

Also, make sure you CHECK THE DISTANCE on your map when going from town to town! We ended up wasting an entire day driving to the next B&B.......it didn't LOOK far on the map, but it does take longer to get places on those beautiful country roads.

Don't try to do too much, and you'll have a much better time!

Have fun!

09-11-2003, 11:10 AM
Hi all

I am trying to get myself up to speed.

Got 3 pts yday for OP and water. Still not well enough to exercise. Just too weak! The flu really zaps the life out of you. I'm going to try to do a mile today. I feel so blah from being sick.

Missy.. I still havent heard from my friend in Ireland. Gonna shoot her another email. Hopefully I'll hear something before your plane boards. LOL

To everyone else.. big hugs.

09-11-2003, 01:49 PM
Hahahah, thanks for all the wonderful advice girls! I will definitely take it all into consideration. My "travel companion" and I are meeting tonight to start the planning. It is considered the "low" season...(although Feburary! WHOA, it must have been cold)...but I hate to worry about not having a place to sleep. :)

Hi Girlies - I got 4 points yesterday - managed to get down to the gym.

Missy - did you get my PM about Ireland?

Keep it up:strong:

Amanda xx

09-11-2003, 03:29 PM
Amanda, I just got it! Thanks so much for the insights and help, I sent you a PM back! You are the best! Mwah!

09-11-2003, 03:52 PM
PAM< AMANDA< SANDYB: YOU ALL GET: :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: for points!

Debbie: You sweet thing! Hope you are starting to come around feeling better. YOU GET A: :cp: for points!

I combined a lot today, but I wanted to be sure and get them done and I am pressed for time.

Amanda: Sex isn't everything! We are cuddlers too and there is great satisfaction in that as well. Just give him a big ole kiss and hug and remind him you love him everyday. One of the things my husband has done every day he has been in our home (when he wasn't out to sea or later traveling for business) in 31 years no matter whether we were furious at each other or not is he kisses me goodnight. If I am asleep, he will kiss my head, shoulder, whatever he can reach, but I am a light sleeper and I feel that kiss EVERY night.

Gotta run girls, time to go get the ole hunka hunka burnin love from work. (God, he would die if he knew I was talking about him! He hates it!)

Missy, Last February in Maine was 30 below zero for weeks.....when we got to London, there were daffodils blooming and the temps were in the 60's/70's! It was heaven!! And it only rained once. We soooo hated to get back to the grey skies and dirty snow. (snow is so pretty when it's white, but by Feb. it's got so much sand and soot in it that it's just yucky.)

Well, gotta go.

HELLO LADIES...well,today has been nowhere near what i planned for it to be...it started out just fine ..got the kids off to school, hubby off to work, and then went to pick my daughter up and go run some errands and shopping, but after I picked her up ,we had barely got down the road,AND MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE...luckily a gentleman traveling in a semi truck blew his horn, pulled over and come running with his fire extinguisher hollering at us to get out of the car, that fire was comming out of the front bottom of the car,and about that time smoke and flames were comming out the dash,BUT THANK GOD MY DAUGHTER AND I GOT OUT OKAY...needless to say though,we had to call the fire department..the car was a total loss...so i have spent the rest of this day calling insurance company, getting our rental car,and trying to calm down...they seem to think it may have been an electrical short so far..it happened so fast and there was so many nice and so very kind people that stopped and helped..this whole day I have felt so out of it..I think the shock of all of it...but I refuse to let this get the best of me...I will stay positive and make the best of this...and tommorow will be a brighter day!.....well ...until tommorow ladies...love and hugs to all...Joy

Thank God you and dd are ok Joy! My gosh how scary and boy can I relate to that one. In Feb of 1989 we were traveling from here in Memphis to Lubbock Tx to my mil's funeral. She died suddenly and we had to borrow money to go and our car was pretty crummy and old and we had bought it used, but it was all we had. I remember the car started sputtering on the interstate so dh pulled into the next exit and went into a truck stop and got someone who came out and played with the fuel line and we got back in and took off and didn't even get back on the interstate and the car started on fire! Our children were terrified and we drove back to a convenience store and I ran in and got all the baking soda they had and went out to pour it on the car, but we couldn't get the hood up because the fire was BAD! It burned to the ground with all our possessions including travelers checks and my kids Christmas presents which they had brought along to keep them company and my son who was in high school's art portfolio which was supposed to be used to get him into a good art school and my wedding rings, which were in a jewelry bag in my luggage because the prong had bent. It was pouring rain, dh tripped and badly sprained his ankle, we bought a toothbrush for each of us and a comb to share and got the cheapest room at the motel across the street and had to PAY someone $40 to take us a few miles up the road in the morning to the bus stop where we spent all our money but $5 on bus tickets to Lubbock. The worst thing was my poor husband was grieving over his mom, worried about his family and what we were going to do to get back home (the car did not have liability so we got nothing and didn't have a ccard so could not rent anything to go home), and in a great deal of pain with his ankle. So, hon, I truly truly understand and sympathize. The great thing is it was insured and you weren't hurt! THINGS can always be replaced, people can't. Please accept all our good wishes for you and a little prayer for you from me.

09-11-2003, 10:42 PM
Faye, thank you so sweetly...that was so helpful to how I feel, and you are right, the car can be so easily replaced...and everyone being so kind, that they pulled out everything from the car,and i mean stripped it down to my taz mats..one fellow even reached in and pulled out the mp3 player that my husband had installed for me,and he was so happy, cause he had payed quite a bit for it,and the big speakers too,so everything was saved...you are right though,it was truly scary....thanks for the prayer too...God has a reason for all that happens......Sandy....there is a site you can go to to order their vitamins, and you will also be able to learn about who he is...he lives here localy...go to www.themedicineman.com ...the ones that I take are called COMPLETE NUTRIENTS FOR 40+ WOMEN WITH EXTRA CALCIUM+D........THEY ARE GREAT AND I NEED THEM...they are also all natural...he also has for under 40...check them out...well it's late and I need to get off and get ready for the bed,as I feel drained from today...love and hugs to all..Joy:)

FRIDAY: Fabulous lbs Down Friday!

I am not even getting on the scale! I gave in to STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE pie last night and messed up my fat UGH!

I GET A: :high: for points. I guess I will be doing a makeup day this weekend.

Check in later ladies.

09-12-2003, 08:54 AM
Mornin' Ladies,

What a scary day you had yesterday, Joy! I'm so glad everyone is ok!!!! T ake it easy for a while, if you can.

Well, I was a bit worried about getting on the scale this morning, but I HAD to do it. I"m 2 pounds down......woo hoo!! Not sure if this is a "real" loss or not, since my weight fluctuates wildly during the day. But I weigh at the same time every week, so I think it's probably kosher. Anyway, the journal and lower carb intake really helped, so THANKS EVERYONE for all the suggestions.

DH has finally warmed up to the idea of counting calories, too. He even printed off a chart of calories burned for various activities. He shot hoops in the back yard for an hour last night because it said he'd burn 500 calories! I think he's figured out that he weighs more than me for the first time ever  We both need to get healthy soooo badly

Yesterday, I got all 4 points....but it was only a so-so day. I taught my private dance lesson and counted that as my exercise. SO, it was a light day. But I'm not going to intentionally slack off this weekend, so I'm not worried about it. I'm planning a more intense workout for this morning. Upper body weights and treadmill......maybe a little jumprope in between. We'll see. My knees are starting to complain about all the treadmilling, I think it's time to get some new sneakers. I over-supinate when I walk, which means I walk on the outside edge of my foot. My shoes wear out unevenly and my knees and back start hurting when they get to a certain point. Poor DH doesn't understand why I have to have new shoes every 3 or 4 months when he's been wearing the same ones for 10 years

Well, time to get the kids to school......talk to you all later.
Stay :strong: today everyone!!

09-12-2003, 09:00 AM
Sandy: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points!

Julie: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points! I have had the same thing happen with my husband. When I married him he was SKINNY and I mean SKINNY, 6'2" and 165 lbs. Once he got into his 40's he gained some but stayed at 175 because the Navy required it. He now weighs about 240 and it is ALL in his midsection, which you know is the WORST! He actually took a slimfast drink and snack bar for lunch today !

Well, I am going to walk today and have a route "mapped" out so I need to get dressed and get going as it decided to get hot here again.

09-12-2003, 09:40 AM
Hello Everyone,

have to run so just a note. Joy--thankGod your o.k.! I had a car burn up to. Must be more common than I thought. Scred me half to death.

I had a small accomplishment. I had to tighten up the straps on my bra by about 2 inches. It may not me much but I'm happy. I've got TOM to.

Hope everyone has a nice day

09-12-2003, 10:04 AM
Good Friday Morning,

Joy, honey!!! what a scary thing to have happen!!! I'm glad that you are okay physically, mentally I am sure that is a different story for both you and your daughter.

pts for yesterday: 2 pts for program, 1 pt for water, and 1 pt for exercise. No weigh in today, will not be weighing in till next Thursday...when I have my appt with my dietician. I think she is going to be really pleased, which makes me feel good!! She and my Dr and all the staff there are so very supportive, I am very lucky to have them.

Mirabelly, fantastic, 2 lbs down!!!:strong: :bravo:

Faye, cheesecake on occasion?? well, sometimes you just HAVE TO, but today is a NEW DAY girlfriend!!

Amanda, good job on getting all 4 pts yesterday kiddo, LET'S DO IT AGAIN TODAY!!!

Catch all you lovelies later..........

09-12-2003, 11:02 AM
Good Morning Ladies!! Joy, u have such a positive outlook... i too have had a car catch on fire... not as bad as any of the other stories here but scarey none the less. I am glad that u and your daughter are safe and sound. thanks for the info on the vitamins as well... i am over 40 so maybe i will give them a try too.
Faye... every once in a while u have to have that stuff.... otherwise u go crazy...LOL u know what i mean. Besides like Pam said, on occasion is alright, today is a new day!

Sandy:flow1:

09-12-2003, 11:45 AM
Pam: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points

DebbieL: Way to go girl. Progess is progress in whatever form it takes!

Am I an idiot or what for eating that pie? It wasn't the cheesecake it was the strawberries believe it or not. Not that I didn't eat the cheesecake part too! It was the only thing that put me over on fat cal. Valuable lesson learned, hide the dessert chart under the table when you sit down!

I did a 3 mile walk this AM and heard on the radio while I was walking that John Ritter died on the set of his tv show from a aortic tear last night and Johnny Cash died this morning from diabetic complications. I knew Cash was sick but the John Ritter thing knocked me for a loop. I guess it was a prior thing that he knew nothing about. JR was only 54 UGH! scary!

You girls have a great day!

09-12-2003, 02:02 PM
That was really sad about John Ritter! I couldn't believe it.

Well I get 2 points for yesterday. I cannot tell a lie (though I sure thought about it)...but I had a Skinny Cow AND M&Ms and I was over probably by about 100 calories, but over nonetheless. I will have to play make up on the weekend too Faye. It's so annoying isn't it?

I'm down to 148 again, so I lost 2lbs. that were hanging on from vacation.

It's so frustrating to have been here for like 2 months now and have lost 4 lbs. That's pathetic. LOL But I am noticing that my 11/12 pants I have on today are LOOSE! HURRAY! That is certainly a good feeling. My size 13 pants...they were practically falling off. :) So I'm down 4 lbs. since I started...that leaves me with 18 to go.

Gotta keep on keeping on!

Hope everyone is doing well...especially Joy.

Faye don't beat yourself up too much, this was your first slip in like forever! :) You are human after all. :) hehehe

09-12-2003, 02:29 PM
Hi Everyone,

Just had a minute and popped in because its better than eating something. (what I'm in the habit of doing when I can't think of anything else)

Glad everyone is doing well and thanks for telling me about Ritter and Cash. I heard someone say that the bad thing is that when one of the old ones like Hepburn or Cash dies the thing that replaces them is Madonna or Chris Rock. The world is just a little duller

09-12-2003, 03:00 PM
Debbie-Lee - I have to disagree with you on Madonna AND Chris Rock. Katherine Hepburn was quite a talent, and Cash I suppose too. But consider the fact that Cash's later career was spent doing covers of songs by U2 and even Nine Inch Nails. That to me doesn't seem too inspired. But perhaps it's my age showing thru. Chris Rock isn't hysterical but he's definitely pretty funny...and Madonna has been reinventing herself since the 80's. Granted she's not a "classic"...but she's a "classic of today! :)

09-12-2003, 03:51 PM
I'm so out of sync. - we've had major power cuts last two days, so the computer wasn't working.

First for my points- I got 4 today, but only 3 yesterday. I couldn't excercise.

Joy, what an awful experience. But look at the bright side, if something bad had to happen, it's happened and over with. It could have been worse, one of you could have been hurt. In fact you were very lucky that man saw you and stopped to help.

Yesterday was pretty horrible for me as well . My son was sleeping and suddenly fresh blood started coming out of his ear - it was so frightening. We went to see the ENT in the evening but he couldn't see any apparent reason for the bleeding. He's called us back on Tuesday for a check up. I'm desperately worried.

Anyway we still leave tommorrow evening for the hills. I'll post again before we leave.

09-12-2003, 04:32 PM
Missy: I am not beating myself up, as I don't do that, but I do know it was stupid of me! I should have just ordered a bowl of fruit! YOU GET A: :high: for points. We'll play catch up tomorrow. As for actual lbs lost, I told you at the beginning the lbs were going to be hard to come off because you didn't have a lot to lose, but honey, the inches are coming off so quit stressing about the scale numbers. You are getting skinnier! Me too, I measure myself once a month on the 9th of every month as the ninth I had a whopping 4 and 6 inch loss on my thighs, 2 inches on my waist and a puny one inch on my stubborn behind but a BIG part of the behind thing is hanging skin and when you measure, that still comes into play so what can you do? I am just thrilled that when I went into Walmart's last night I actually was able to get an 18/20 sweater on, zip it up and it look ok! I am still in that "baggy is best" mentality and that is stupid. One thing and you guys are gonna laugh at this one, since I have been able to go to underwire bras and have lost weight, at least in a bra, I have much perkier bosoms and I keep noticing men getting an eyeful of my boobs! I guess my overall body size still big as it is, does not attract the attention first. I am never going to be a boob shrinking violet, so I just have to love em I guess and enjoy the notoriety they bring me! :o

Ritu: YOU GET A: :bravo: :cp: for your points for two days. As for your son, don't freak out too much about the ear bleeding if the dr didn't find anything, if he isn't bleeding from the nose or mouth and his temp is not spiking. He may have some kind of ear infection the guy hasn't caught yet. Did the bleeding stop on it's own? Did ds have a bad headache when he was bleeding or before? I am sure he is going to be just fine. Kids have all kinds of weird things happen to them! Hope he feels better soon and your fears are allayed!

My big thing with celebrities dying is how OLD that means I am. I mean almost 100% of people I grew up watching have CROAKED, all the rat pack except for maybe Joey Bishop, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Jackie Gleason, Ed Sullivan, Rock Hudson, Liberace (those two of course are different circumstances than age as is sullivan I believe and Gleason too) and the list goes on and on. I am not a fan of Madonna and hate the new stuff because it is so SEXUALLY VILE but last Saturday I was walking in the mall and had a radio station on and they played Dance With my Father by Luther Vandross and I am walking and balling. What a song that is! I hear singing groups from my era and they sound horrible because age has mucked up their voices. Gary Lewis played on his dad's telethon and when he was popular had 13! #1 HITS AND HE SOUNDED GROSS! Chicago who are wonderful is the same deal. They can't sing anymore. Few of the over 50 crowd still have voices, Yummy SINGLE, Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, I haven't heard Bowie or the Stones since I don't like them, Cher still has her voice. Anyway, it makes AARP more real every time one of them dies and for gosh sakes, John though he had a heart DEFECT is only 5 years older than I! :fr: :fr:

I got invited to lunch with dd and the stinker and I wore this green scarf tied at my neck and when I got in the car, "Nonny, why do you have a rag on your neck?" Cracked me up! I have wanted my son, Jay to get married for so long, but NOW it is even better because dd is paying attention to me and being NICE and that is great. A little competition can be a GOOD thing!

Gotta go. Sorry for blabbing so much.

**For those of you in the +sizes, check out www.justmysize.com. They have some great stuff and a lot of it is fairly inexpensive. I just bought TWO satin gowns for our trip (RED and PURPLE) for $25! I had bought this ugly lace thing last night for the trip and paid $33 on SALE! It goes right back to the store today! YES, THEY ARE FOR JACK'S BENEFIT FOR THOSE INQUIRING MINDS!!!!!!!:o ;)

PS: If any of you feel you have the time, and could do it, please let me know if you would be willing to post the topic and give out smileys while I am gone. Otherwise, you will just have to encourage each other til I get back!

Hello there!

I got 1 point yesterday - sorry to say that I went completely off programme and had pizza and garlic bread! It's my TOM and I was feeling really low and overwhelmed all day - crying loads (hormones!). So needless to say, all my resolve went out the window and I just didn't care about my diet. I feel better today and am back on programme - I'm not beating myself up about it as it was my choice at the time and it's not the end of the world - I'm back on track now and will have a make up day on Sunday.

Joy - I am glad you are okay after your car fire. It sounded very scary and I'm glad you are all safe and well.

Congratulations to everyone who has lost weight this week:bravo: It's my weigh day tomorrow but I'm not expecting to lose anything due to my TOM and the pizza!

Missy - You are welcome! I will get back to you soon about Ireland - feeling a bit tired tonight.

Everyone have a great weekend!

I forgot to tell you that I had my hair cut today - it's short and spikey (sort of) and I've had my fringe cut short. I really like it! Normally my hair is quite long at the front, but now it is short you can see my eyes and Nigel says I look cute! I don't know why people say that if you are fat you shouldn't have short hair - mine definately looks better and lifts my face.

Anyway. thought I'd share that with you!

Amanda: Several of us seemed to have had a tiny break down yesterday except of course SUPER WOMAN PAM! So don't let it bother you. Make up your challenge weekday on one of the weekend days either this weekend or next. That is what most of us are doing. YOU GET A :flow2: for points! Oh and by the way, MY hair is only about an inch or so long and very very cute. I get tons of compliments about it so my opinion is short hair definitely looks good on heavier women! As the appt booker at my salon says, "Girl, that hair gives you attitude!"

Well my son and his girlfriend are OFFICIAL! He called me a little while ago and told me he proposed and gave her the ring tonight and that I am off the hook and can tell everyone. LITTLE DOES HE KNOW.....

Well, girlies I am going to go for the night!

talk to you in the morning!

09-13-2003, 08:01 AM

This is "Super Woman Pam" reporting in:lol:

pts for yesterday: 1 pt for water, 1 pt for exercise, and 2 pts for program.....*by the skin of my teeth! I think I was having an "OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE YESTERDAY", I must have been. We threw a surprise birthday party for one of our co-workers, there was cake, and chips, and dips, and cokes and HOMEMADE BUTTERFINGER ICE CREAM   of which I had NONE. There was a cheese ball and wheat crackers, I did have 1/2 tsp cheese ball and 2 wheat crackers. but no ice cream, and because I was at work there was NO WHERE TO GO TO ESCAPE IT!!! LOOOOOONG 8 HRS LET ME TELL YOU. But, gratefully I made it.

well gotta rin, got off at 9p last night and back at 6:30am, I am very weary.....:faint:

09-13-2003, 08:14 AM
SATURDAY: Today is Sunny Thoughts Saturday! Share with us anything happy!

Pam: YOU GET A: :bravo: for points!

I GOT A: :bravo: for points.

Hope everyone has a great day. I will get in to post points asap but you know today is the big ice show day so don't know how much time I will have. I will be sure and tell Sully and Mike hi from all you guys! I don't know, a huge hairy blue monster and a big green eyeball skating around......

09-13-2003, 09:41 AM
Good Morning everyone!
I had another 4 pointer yesterday (5 down, 5 togo!) Is it just me, or does this eating healthy thing get easier over time? I mean, my stomach has mostly adjusted to the lower intake.......and I've always eaten lots of fruits and veggies. The big thing for me is keeping the carbs low. I still get the munchies at night while I'm watching tv, but a big bottle of water nearby helps. I must have found a really good groove, foodwise....cuz I don't really want to eat anything else.

The exercise is another story! I need to start varying my workouts, get outside more....I've had about all I can stand of the treadmill for a while. I like it because I can do it whenever I want without figuring out what to do with the kids.......but it does get dull. Think I'm gonna go for a bike ride today.

Sunny Thought for today.......Only 3 weeks to our first ice skating party at the local rink! And this year, I SWEAR, I'm gonna go skiing for the first time in over a decade! I love to ski, but I've been scared because of the extra weight....I'm gonna be 40 pounds thinner by ski season, and I can't wait!

SWP (Super Woman Pam)--WAY TO GO on the no cake/ice cream thing!!! :cb: :strong: YOU ROCK GIRLFRIEND!

Amanda-your hair sounds really cute. Mine is almost to the middle of my back and I get the opposite advice "someone your weight/age should have short hair". I don't know, I've tried having hair barely above my shoulders and I hated it. I'm just a long hair personality, I guess.

Everyone else, stay strong today....especially if it's a makeup day for earlier in the week.

Later babes,

Oh, Faye, I'll post smiley's while you're gone...unless someone else wants to. Just let me know the dates you'll be gone. You do so much for us, it's the least I can do.

09-13-2003, 10:47 AM
Good Morning Ladies!!! Points for yesterday all 4!! Pam i am so proud of u... U GO!!! It being Friday yesterday it was pizza night here. i only had 2 slices and NO yes i said NO beer!! YEah!!! i have also stuck to not using the bathroom downstairs. 14 steps up and down everytime i need to go is a good thing... i can already tell in my legs... I am going to the dreaded mall today... i am not a mall fan especially on the weekends... but i need to find an outfit for my friends wedding, so it has to be done. :)
My treat yesterday was i got my toes done...lol a pedicure... now my toes are all pretty... honestly theres something about having your toes painted and little flowers onthem that just makes me feel like a princess...
My sunny thoughts??.... well i won an auction for a duvet cover on ebay and it arrived yesterday. Inside the box with the duvet was a little boyds bear in a christmas stocking that says "believe" on it. Thinking it was left in there by accident i emailed the lady and told her i would be happy to send it back to her as i thought it was a mistake. She wrote back saying that she sent it to me because my brother died and she thought the word believe was a perfect place to start. It never ceases to amaze me that someone would just reach out and be so kind. It really touched my heart ...

have a wonderful day
take care of U
