Wow! I never get to start a new thread! :)
We just got back from Soccer. 2 games back to back! DS did AWESOME! This is his 2nd year. LAst year he was afraid to get kicked.. this year.. he was right in there. Didnt score this game but his hustle was awesome!
DD had her first game ever today (she's 5) She scored a goal! WOO HOO! Of course it was in the other teams net.. so they got the point.. but she still did it! And I am proud! :)
Now I have to do laundry and get on the treadmill!
Congrats Spryng! Not gaining is always a plus! :)
I gotta run and break up a fight upstairs.. BBL

Karen that is so funny about your 5 yo! :) How cute that must have been!
Well my day is going pretty well. I made a stir fry for dinner with chicken and oven baked cucumbers (yum) even my kids ate every bite. I am so glad they love veggies. I found a new recipe site http://www.recipezaar.com/ that lets you choose what kind of recipes you like, low fat, low carb, etc and people who try them rate them! So I did the oven fried eggplant recipe but used cucumbers instead and it was very good. I substitutes fat free miracle whip instead of regular mayo and it turned out great. very crunchy on the outside and tender inside. But anyway... it was all good and so is my numbers for today! :) I'll be getting on the bike after the kids get in bed later.

Karen, hope you got the peace restored! :) Sounds like you had a day like we had on the soccer field. Aren't they just the cutest?!?!?! :)
Spryng, thanks for the recipe site..... I love new recipes! I love to cook and bake. My time in the kitchen is like therapy for me. When I'm cooking or baking, I'm relaxed, and I truly enjoy it. I think that's why I have such a hard time with my weight. Or, at least, a part of why. I read lots of cooking magazines, and when I see new recipes, I like to try them out. I have been trying to limit myself to healthy recipes lately, or I try to substitue things to make them lighter. But it is very hard for me. I am addicted to the Food Network, and Emeril makes some of the most lucious-looking stuff! With no thought to fat or calorie content! It kills me!
Well, gotta get the kids to bed. Dh is at the preschool doing some light painting for the start of their school year next week. We don't have a child there this year, but our older two went through this school and our youngest will be there next year, so we still keep active and do some volunteer work for them. When he gets home, we have a rented movie to enjoy together. :)

Oh Karen ty for begining the new thread. Congrats on your standing O. I'm so glad you found your way to SAHM's you are really a terrific lady and I truly enjoy your posts.
Jen wtg on those track pants and staying OP. You keep up the great work. I'm kinda like you I love to cook and bake etc. it is great threapy to me.
Ginny, glad to hear you are getting into the swing of things and getting your walk in even if it is at 5am! You have always been so devoted to your walks.
Ricci I'm glad you could stop in. Thats really great about your baggy shorts. Keep up the great work.
Spryng, when I first started to work out and wanted to measure my inches I'd use a piece of yarn and lay it out on a yard stick or one of my Dh's carpentry tapes. Works just the same. Just incase you were excited to see some results. Oh and I'm glad to hear you migh get to see Joe sooner than you thought.

Well as for me, I have bad news. Today while I was helping Dd#2 get dresses I put my back out. I'm in the awfulest pain. So I'm just gonna kinda take it easy for the next few days and stay in bed. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers. This has happened before with previous pregnancies so I know what to do to take care of it. But I just wanted to let you ladies know I won't be posting for awhile. Hope you all stay OP!
I'll miss you girls a great deal!

sounds like everyone is having a good weekend. I went out to my aunts house today and helped her get started on planning a family reunion. Tommorrw gotta go shopping, and we are going to let my boys ride their bikes outside. Thats it for now.

Michele-I feel so bad for you, hon!! That is just awful that you put your back out- all those pg hormones that allow your bone to spread to allow the baby to grow can also mess up normal bone alignment! Absolutely- I will keep you in prayer for a speedy recovery and all the patience to get thru this. Hope that your Dd's are good little nurses for thier mommy!
Spryng-What great news that you might see Dh a bit sooner!!!!!
How does he like his new job, has he mentioned that?. Our library here is tiny too, and the kids area is in the basement too!
What a coincidence! Guess it can't hurt to ask if they have a story time...a lot of the local libraries here do. Don't worry about not losing this week- my Dr told me "the body will shed fat at its own rate, and sometimes we can do little to control that"- so in a nut shell.....just hang in there! You will lose!:)
Jen- I can absolutely identify with the travel soccer thing.....having been a widow to travel softball for 7 years now.
And I agree- waiting another year for your Dd is a good idea. Even if a player is great travel ball is so darned intense and there are some really rabid parents there- worse than normal. But congrats on some great soccer! How was the movie????
Karen- thanks for starting the thread. Funny, as I booted up Iwas considering the same thing!! I love your 5yr olds first soccer goal.......even if it went the wrong way! (I won't tell!) Did you get your laundry done???
We got a lot of stuff done outside here today. Kind of sad- as we put the pool away for the winter. (Dd was none too happy about that!). But, the timing was good- we had a nice dry day to get the liner rinsed off and dry and in the box for next year.
The weather here was gorgeous- almost fall like!!!! Our soccer games start in a week or so. Dd has already had one practice. The other Dd (17) has had 2 HS games already.
I did get a 20 min walk in and ate pretty well.
Me one tired puppy- guess I'd better go!!!! Hope I did not miss anyone. Have a great nite.

Jen, I love cooking sites too but I must admit that I am not much of a cook. but I'm learning! One of my favorite channels also is the food network. My DH loves Emeril but I love Rachel Rae and her 30 minute meals. But yes, not many low fat in there. I like that Cooking Thin one with the lady who lost all that weight. She teaches other's to cook healthier... but some of her ingrediants are not available here. O-well... someday I hope to wow people with my own healthy meals.
Ricci, I hope you enjoy your family reunion! I haven't been to one in years. The last one we had my parents offended several family member and because of that only part of the family showed up. It was terrible. I don't know if we'll ever have another one... we might if my mom and dad aren't invited, lol. Which is fine by me.
Ginny, yes DH loves the job. He is on his way to alabama tonight. I'm actually waiting on his phone call right now... but he's doing well. For the first 160 hours he's with a trainer and then once he completes 160 hours of driving time he is put in his own truck and goes solo. I might have already told you that, I'm not sure... but anyway, I'm hoping he gets those hours done as fast as possible so I can see him again. I am starting to really miss him. Not enough to lose sleep over it but ds (2) asks all the time if he is coming home and I hate saying no and his little face looking so tiny and crushed... he misses him really bad. I think it's going to be extra hard when we do get to see him but for only 2 days and then he's off again for 2 weeks... i don't know if ds can handle that or not... it's like a big tease. But that is yet to come... any suggestions on any of this? And I really am trying to hang in here with my eating and exercise.. even though right now I am hungry and wanting to eat the kitchen down. Instead I cleaned it... But I'm not certain how many calories I had for dinner so I don't know if I can have a snack or not... I guess I should sit down and figure that out.
Well we have a new addition to our family... Pickles... that's his name. He's a toad! A little toad the kids caught in the back yard. They were so excited and proud of themselves so I took them to walmart to buy a bowl and such to put him in and we even caught him a tiny cricket to eat tonight. My dd named him pickles because she said he has bumps like a pickle on him, lol. She's right! So Pickles it is. So I guess he's staying, :)
Well, I need to do something to get my mind off food... maybe I'll go read. Talk to you all tomorrow!

Guess it is just you and me for now. Hope that you made it thru the night without a raid on the kitchen. I had one of those nights last night myself. One of the WW books that I sent you has tons of tips on how to handle times like that. There is always diet jello ( I love the stuff!) or another strategy is to save a point or two for late in the day and then have a planned snack. The slimfast creamy caramel snack bars (not the meal ones) are only 2 points, so are M&M kudos, or a cup full of most dry cereals (some of the kids cereals are great dry) or 3 cups of the 94% fat free Orville Redenbackers popcorn is one point!!!!!! Woo hoo!!!! (I did that one this afternoon:D ). At least for WW, it is a matter of coming up with some snack that will satisfy you- is low in points and have one serving ready for you to enjoy. One hint that they gave us is to take your favorite snack, lets say you crave Triscuits- and have the 15 (I think) crackers premeasured in a baggie- and know that they are 3 points for that serving. Then when those urges hit you are ready. That is one of the big techniques that WW uses is just planning. One member told us that she always had some diet jello made....just for those moments. Congrats on Pickles!!!!!! We had our resident "Mr Toad"- and for awhile there was an albino one that lived by our deck. Good to hear that the tradition lives........ BTW when my Dh travelled (he had business in Europe a few times) I would have my kids paint a picture (or draw with crayons or whatever) of what they the previous day for Daddy. That way it made them feel more connected to him during his absence and made him feel more a part of what they did while he was gone. Of course, in the early years when their art was pretty wierd I had to add a caption on the bottom for him to reconstruct what the picture was supposed to be!:lol: We still have some of those old art items and the caption or title really makes them laugh now- they even remember making some of the stuff! Maybe that will work for you too. Hang in there- it sounds like you are doing a great job during Dh's absence. What book are you reading, anyway?
Well, we went to church this am....boy I needed that!!! Dh was, well- he really hurt my feelings this am, and kind of went out of his way to do so. I don't get it......it was so uncalled for. There are times that his lack of sensitivity amazes me- and yet I understand why he is that way. All I can say is this is going to take me a long time to get over......the look on his face and the emotion behind it is unfortunately deeply etched in my mind right now. Sorry about that, I just had to vent. The weather here was great the whole weekend and we got a lot done around the house ( I kept myself busy to avoid dwelling on what was buggin' me). Guess I have babbled enough!! Off to make dinner. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! I just wrote the looooooongest post, and tried to attach a pic to it. When I tried to post, I got a message saying mypic was too large, and my post was lost!!!!! ARGHHHHHH!!!!! I am so frustrated, because it would have been nice to at least post what I'd written without the pic. I don't know why it just dumped everything I'd written like that!

Just thought I would check in for a moment.. I have to bake 6 dozen cookies! :eek: Ds's bday tomorrow and I am bringing cookies to school.. I have to make extra for DH... He loves them!
I just ate a huge taco salad so that I wont be tempted to eat any of the batter.. WIsh me luck! It is chocolate chip...

Michele, so sorry to hear about your back! Please take care of yourself! Is there anyone who can help you with the girls while you're down? I hope you are back on your feet and pain-free soon.
Ricci, hope the boys had fun on their bikes today. Did you get a lot of planning done for the reunion?
Spryng, my kids caught a toad yesterday, too. I am mean, though, and made them release it after they played with it for a few hours. We already have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a dozen fish. I cannot be resposible for another living being in this house! :lol:
Ginny, I am so sorry your dh made you feel badly. My self-esteem took a real beating when I was a kid/teen. I have worked very hard to overcome it, but when someone berates me, it is like I am 6 years old all over again. And even when you know where the other person is coming from and that it may not really be all about you, it still hurts. I wish I could be there to give you a hug, because it sounds like you could use one. I'll be thinking of you tonight.
Well, I did a bad thing today. I bought a scale. I know it doesn't sound like a bad thing. Actually, the really bad thing is that I stepped on it during the wrong time. I forgot to buy a battery with it this morning, so I hadn't been on it at all. But, I just now happened to find a battery, so I popped it in and stepped on it....... yes, at 7:45pm and after a full meal. UGH!!! It was awful. I have been in such denial. Previously, my highest weight has been 177lbs. Just now, it read 184. I am ready to throw the thing out the window! But, maybe this is the wake-up call I need. So, no more fooling around. Although I have done well this week, I sorta took the weekend off and haven't been very OP. Tomorrow, I plan to get up early and go walking before dh leaves for work. Then it is back to the program. I gotta get some of this weight off!
So, I am setting a new goal for myself. Dh and I are going away for a weekend at the end of Oct. to celebrate our anniversary. It is about 6 weeks away. I would like to lose about 15lbs by then. I will weigh myself again first thing in the morning, and take that as my starting weight.
Well, gotta get dd out of the tub and ds needs to get in. Also need to pack school lunches for tomorrow. G'nite, gang.

Jen - Your post about the scale reminded me about when I first got my scale. I went on WW 6 months after my DD was born. Got the scale home and got on it, it read 225! And then it read that same weight the next morning. I was in such denial at the time! I almost did toss it out the window. But I didnt, and it motivated me to lose 56 pounds over the next 10 months. You can do it!
Spryng - You are doing so well! Good for you getting on your bike! ANd I love that name Pickles! :) My son wants a Frog or Toad too.. we have tree frogs all over the greanbelt behind our house. You can hear them at night but I can never see them.
Now.. For the cookies... I baked 8 dozen, packed up 28 bags for the students in my son's class and his teacher, and put the rest in a plate in the kitchen. I am so proud of myself. I didnt like my fingers, I didnt test the batter, I didnt eat a cookie. I dropped all the utensils in the soapy water. I cannot believe it! :eek: But as heavenly the kitchen smelled, I really didnt want any. I think the difference is that this time I know that I can have one occasionallly once I am about 20 pounds from goal. I know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. And I am focused on my health this time around. Not just looking good!
Ok, DH is wanting the computer so I better run. Need to answer a couple of emails first! :)

Good evening all!
I am sooooo tired so I am going to keep this short. I just have to say I over did it tonight at dinner. My MIL and SIL came by today to see how I was doing since DH left and invited me over for dinner. They know I am dieting and sid they would make something I could eat and dinner would be at 5 pm, well I ate a piece of fruit before I left so that I wouldn't be too hungry and eat too much at dinner but when I got there they hadn't even taken anything out to thaw for dinner and we didn't eat until almost 8 pm!! By that time I was starving, and healthy food??? I don't think they know what that is... they made pork chops smothered in cream of mushroom soup, mac and cheese, two different kinds of rice and green beans. I ate a little of everything because I was so hungry but felt so awful afterward. I know I probably didn't over do it enough to gain anything but I still felt bad because the food was so unhealthy. When I make pork chops I cook it in seasoned water or broil or bake them... and mac n cheese I make with low fat butter and fat free milk, and I don't put butter in my green beans etc. Ugh. But I did come home and after putting the kids to bed I attacked my bike and got in 4 miles. So that should have burned some of that junk off. I hope so anyway. I think from now on I will only go over there if it's just for a visit and not a meal... or take a meal bar or something so I don't have to worry about the cals or fat. But anyway... I feel really bad. But now after my bike ride I am just so exhausted, so I'm calling it a night. I promise to get personal with everyone tomorrow. G'nite!

Karen, Hooray for you!!!! It must have been those will-power vibes I sent ya! :lol: Seriously, I knew you could do it! And thanks for the encouragement about the scale. I was feeling really down about it last night.
Spryng, I have an idea for you. What if, the next time you are invited to dinner at MIL's, you bring a healthy dish to share, like a big salad, or something? That way, you could contribute to the meal, and if they aren't cooking anything you want to eat, you'll have brought something. Just a thought. But don't beat yourself up too badly over last night. I think you probably did a lot to counteract what you ate on your bike, anyway. Hope you are feeling rested and well today. :)
Well, I am feeling better today. I got on the scale first thing this morn, and it read 177. Thank God!!!! I had had a feeling that I had hit 180, but seeing the numbers just really hit me hard last night. But I know it was not accurate because it was the end of the day, and I had just eaten, and I had clothes on. So, I am using 177 as my starting point, and am shooting for a 15lb loss over the next 6 weeks, before dh go away for our romantic weekend. I just don't want to look like a beached whale getting into the hot tub! :o I got a good workout in on my bike this morn, too. And, last night, I ordered some walk fit exercise tapes for when the weather turns cold, so I can vary my routine and I won't get sick of the bike. All in all, I feel ok because I have a plan of action and a definite goal in sight. Now all I gotta do is stay the course.
Well, got a busy day today.......gotta take ds to the Y to sign up for swim classes, plus run some other errands, and I promised ds a trip to the playground, too. Better hit the shower. Have a good day, everyone! :)

Jen- I know, when I went to WW last winter and got on the scale there and it read 181.6, I darn near died. But look foward- this is the last time that your scale will read 177, right??? Good for you ordering those tapes!! Thanks for your sensitivity about my incident with Dh too.
Spryng- sounds like you did just fine getting thru that meal last nite. What else were you supposed to do, starve??? Hang in there, you are doing great!
Karen- congrats on making it thru those cookies!!! That is awesome- and I am so proud of you. Yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and you are doing great. :)
Melissa- give that sweet little Myra a kiss for me, ok? I am sure that you are loving the dickens out of her. How are you feeling?
I am doing better today than yesterday. Maybe because Dh is at work!
:lol: Naw, he called- he did not apologize but sort of indirectly did and mentioned what a crummy mood he was in. That is the best I am going to get out of him, so I'll just keep on ticking'. Got my walk in this am:D and so far my eating is fine.
Gotta go, before I know it it will be time to pick up the monsters!!

I am Emily, 34, SAHM of 3 little boys. 5, 3 next month and 4 months. I have posted on this board in the past, but life got busy- I recognize some of your names, but wouldn't blame you if you didn't remember me- it's been awhile.
I am ready to get serious again and lose some of this weight! I am right at 240 and would love to lose 100#, but I know I need to think of it in smaller chunks. My first mini-goal is to get below 200#. I'm breastfeeding full-time and know I can't count on a time-frame right now- it's never helped me lose, quite the opposite I hold onto weight! (ugh!) So I'm hoping it will come off- but if it doesn't very fast I can at least be eating right and exercising. I'm really hoping to be successful with portion control and exercise.
Well, that's me, I look forward to getting to know you guys!

I'm sorry I won't be personal. I'm still feeling bad. I went to the er last night to be checked and make sure the baby was doing ok. It's alot of sress hurting your back :( and he wasn't being very active. Things are fine, he's growing good and very healthy. I guess I've done something to a disc in my back. I'll tell you its the worst pain. It ranks right up there with delivery contractions. So I'm still on bed rest... haha!
I'm keeping up gals and reading your posts! Everyone keep up the great work!

Welcome Emily!! I don't remember you but I look forward to getting to know you now! And congrats on your little 4 month old! I just had a baby myself, he's 2 1/2 months old now, he'll be 11 weeks tomorrow. Time is flying. I am Spryng. Mother of 3. DD (3) ds(2) and now new ds (11 weeks) I'm bottle feeding though so I don't have to worry about dieting while he is young. But you have the right idea.. you can start now by eating healthier and maybe even getting in some regular exercise. That should drop a few lbs while breastfeeding... but the rest will have to wait until you wean. How long do you usually breast feed? But I'm so glad to have you here and I hope you feel right at home. I can't wait to get to know you better!
Misty, I feel so bad for you! Is your DH helping out now that you are bed ridden?? I know it has to be so hard with two other children that need you 24/7, please take it easy so that back will heal soon. You don't want to be pushing out a baby with that back pain on top of it, labor is enough! lol So get better!!
Jen that is a great idea. I'll keep that in mind next time I go over there. It's just that they are a very unhealthy family. My MIL is way over 350#'s and my SIL is 250#'s and they don't care about their weight or health for that matter. Everything they cook is full of butter and full fat ingrediants. My FIL is diabetic and he won't even use sugar substitutes for his coffee or anything... they just don't care. So I'm afraid if I take a salad with me they may be offended. It was much easier on Atkins because I could have full fat things and lots of steak, which is what they love. But now that I am eating healthier as far as fruits and veggies go.. well... it's hard to eat there now. But I will try something next time. Sounds like you got a great exercise program in mind and I hope you lose that 15 #'s for your special day. I'm here to cheer you on!!
Ginny, thanks for telling me I did ok with what I ate last night. I felt really bad about it but I know I was probably fine on my cals especially after I burned about 250 off on my bike. So I'm not fretting about it today.
But I would like to state for the record that I am now a member of WW!! I'm so excited to start this. And boy is it much easier to keep track of than all those calorie numbers I was previously adding up. Thank you so much Ginny for sending me those pamplets and such to get me started. I think I am going to love this plan. infact, as soon as the kids wake up from their nap I plan to head to the grocery store to buy some more items to eat and make meals out of. I'm so psyked right now!!

Welcome back Emily!! I do remember you- your screen name is familiar. Great that you can join us again.. I have a WW buddy who checks in at approximately your weight. Weight loss and regaining health is a journey and not a race, thank goodness!!!!!
And if does not matter how long it takes for you to get to the finish line, does it?? That is what I tell my friend- and knowing that weight management will be a lifetime issue for me well then she will always have me for company. (good or bad, whatever that is!:lol: ) Same goes for this thread- we are always here- no matter how long or short the journey. BTW- Weight Watchers DOES offer the program for nursing mothers, if you like I can check my literature on that. There is a whole chapter on it in the new Flex Points book I got. Anyway, welcome back. :)
Michele- oh, you poor lady!!! I will pray for you- ouch, I have injured my back like that where I was unable to get to the car even to get to the Dr.....he had to call in for pain relief just so that I could get to the car to see him. And you are pregnant too!
Good that the baby is fine.......and I wish you were too! Hang in there hon, and try to take it easy. Were they able to give you anything for pain relief that helps? Please don't even attempt to get personal unless you are feeling up to it. Let us know when you can that you are ok.
Spryng- points are so easy to count, aren't they! I love the program and am looking foward to this weeks WI (I snuck on the scale here.....and got a bit excited at what I saw!). Hey girls....... just getting ready for work, here, so I only have a moment or two.

Spryng, how wonderful for you to be so excited about WW! I have often thought about doing it myself. My mother lost lots on WW and is a lifer with them. I think any plan that gets you excited and motivated will work. As for your in-laws...... how sad that they have no concern for their health. Maybe instead of a salad, you could bring something that appears more "hearty" but is actually low cal/fat? You could have fun trying out new recipes on them. :) I also think your idea of only visiting when it's not mealtime is a good one.
Ginny, I can't wait til your WI now! I am so excited for you! And, I'm going to check out that apple pie recipe. We have an apple orchard very close here, and I make lots of apple pies in the fall. I have been worried about losing control when the time comes. Maybe now I can have my pie and eat it too???? :lol:

Ginny, yes I love counting points. I went through my entire kitchen today and counted everything! lol, you should have seen me at the store... i got a few funny looks when I would pull out that food point slider... but hey! I found some great snacks! I also tried a recipe in thet Getting Started brochure. It was the garlic and spinach pasta, 4 points. But I have a question... It said to put 2 garlic cloves (chopped) in a skillet w/ non stick spray for one minute, then stir in 1 cup chopped spinach and 1/2 cup chicken broth (I used a low fat one) and I also added one cup of chopped mushrooms even though the recipe didn't call for that. But it is a 0 point food so I thought I'd add it for taste. Then you simmer for 5 minutes and serve over 3/4 cup of pasta. My question is... I used 1 1/2 cups of pasta and the spinach and mushroom mixture... I'm not sure how many points that added to it. I guessed that it took it up to 6 points but I'm not sure. Any ideas? I wasn't sure if those recipes were for one serving or more because I shared the pasta and sauce with the kids. But after wards I thought that I should have put the entire sauce over my pasta and that is was a one serving dish. I'm a little confused on that . :) Sorry... And Ican't wait to hear about that WI too!! I bet you broke out of the 150's didn't you!! I'm so jealous! But you deserve it!! :)
Jen, that is a great idea too. To take something that looks high cal but isn't. I like that alot. That's what I do when they come over here, I only buy diet soda so my FIL has to drink it or water or I make tea and put splenda in it without them knowing it.. I like to know that while he is here his diabetes isn't taking a beating on my behalf, lol. But if you decide you join WW too that would be great!! The more the merrier. I really think I found the "perfect" plan. I'm going to check out some new recipes tonight and try some this week.

I've been in and out, trying to keep up with everyone, but mommy brain is total mush lately, so I'll just say hello and I hope all is well!
Misty, take it easy, and try to stay as comfortable as possible for you and the baby! I can relate with you, as my pregnancy pains are still so fresh in my mind. I'm still waddling because Myra put such a strain on my hip bones, it'll take a while for things to get back to normal! I hope you have help, and can feel better soon!
I'm happy to say that little Ms. Myra is finally resting a little better, but seems to have a bit of colic. I did get more rest last night, than I've been getting, and feel pretty good today!

Good afternoon all!
Mel, I'm glad Myra let you get some sleep last night. Every extra minute sure helps during those first few weeks doesn't it? Thankfully Tanner doesn't get up at all anymore at night. He goes down at 9 pm and sleep until 8-8:30 am. So if I get myself in bed by 11 pm I get a pretty good nights sleep. Aren't the days passing by so fast now?? It seems at the end of pregnancy the days start to slow down and never seem to end and then of course the baby is born.. then time speeds up and the years fly by again. I look at my oldest child (dd, 3) and can't seem to figure out where the time went. She is losing her toddler face and looking like a little girl now. It breaks my heart and makes me smile at the same time. But I know you ladies who have kids in high school know that feeling more than me. We raise them to leave home don't we? To make them into independant, confident, and successful adults yet we yearn for those innocent days of long ago. Ahhh life.
Well anyway... my day is going great. I feel like I get so much food on WW. I feel like I am cheating when I am not. Weird huh? I guess I am so used to being deprived of certain foods or certian portions that having 0 point foods and great recipes makes me feel like it's too easy... lol. I had two wheat pitas for lunch with chicken lunch meat, 1/2 avocado, and lettuce with 9 quaker cheddar cheese rice snacks (and they tasted so great!) all for only 9 points. Yes I know it was a big lunch but I'm usually at my hungriest come lunch time so I ate a little more. Dinner will be around 5-8 points or so. I think I'm going to have stir fry or something to that effect. What do you have planned for dinner Ginny? And where do you use most of your points? Lunch, Dinner? What's a typical day for you on WW?
Well, I'm off here to take a shower while the kids are napping. TTYL!

Well, I'm having a great OP day today. I had a large bowl of cereal at work last night around 2am, with a banana. I also had a cup of yogurt with blueberries around lunchtime, and that is it for the day! (I normally don't have much of an appetite after I am up all night for work.) Well, I am hungry now, so it looks like I get to enjoy a little something special for dinner. Dd has soccer practice at 5:30, so it's an early meal for us and the kids want pumpkin waffles. They are really not too bad..... using pumpkin lets me leave out the oil, and I use lite syrup. So, I will enjoy! No exercise yet today, but I will try to run around a bit on the soccer field (I am an assistant coach). I think I am actually doing well to just be standing considering ds only let me nap for 90 minutes today! :dizzy:
k, off to mix waffles. have a great nite!

Sounds like everyone out there in SAHM land is having a good day! Melissa- I am so glad that Myra is behaving herself and gave you some much needed rest. Sorry that she has a touch of colic- what are you doing to try to get thru that? (Ds had it- life was not easy there for a while!) Hang in there- we love to hear from you, mushy mommy brain and all!:)
Jen, you sound like one inspired lady! The pumpkin waffles sound good- and so healthy!!! Do you use a special recipe for it or just a traditional waffle recipe and replace the fat with pumpkin. How do they taste (strong pumpkin taste) and what kind of flour- white or whole wheat? They sound good- but Ds is a fuss pot eater- andI am wondering for me if it is worth it to make them if he won't try them! Hope you got some rest too- with such a short nap.
Spryng-yes you do get a lot of food on WW. The variety is the best part and there is no need to get bored of what you eat. Please bear in mind that you will not lose at the same rate as Atkins- week one might be 4-5 pounds and after that it is 1-2 pounds a week. But you are learning to eat for the rest of your life so it is worth it!:) As far as the recipe goes, it should have been somewhere how many servings the recipe made. Your 6 point guess did not sound too far off the mark either. Funny how sooner or later you become really good at guessing how much something is just by looking at it!!!! (and being amazingly right too). You are right, the mushrooms would add no points- but even no point foods have calories. Portion control is important- but loading up on healthy 0 point veggies can't hurt. For example- I can typically eat a huge killer salad (Love salad!:D )- which is probably about 3 cups of 0 point veggies. And I count that as a serving or two of veggies (usually 2) and of course add the points for what ever goodies I add to the 0 point salad- cheese, dressing, chick peas......whatever.... The extra stuff I do measure carefully, as I know that is where most of the calories come from. But as one tablespoon of ff coolwhip has 0 points- it still has calories.....so you can't eat 2 cups of it and expect to lose weight!! At 2 cups- there are quite a few calories in cool whip. Am I making sense? I hope so. As far as my WW goes- I do not vary usually all that much for breakfast. I have tried lots of different stuff in the morning but for me I almost always have oatmeal and tea or coffee (with skim milk). A 4 point breakfast.
The oatmeal really holds me over well- and I feel great and have lots of energy with it. An english muffin or yogurt seems to fly out of my system and I am hungry again very soon. Mid to late morning I'll have some fruit if I need a snack. For me, I figure I am doing well if I am at 10 points at the end of lunch. That gives me 10 points or a few more if I want to use some of the extra ones- to get thru dinner and have a snack later in the day. Yes, I do have those blow out days when I have a big lunch and am running low on points. That is when a salad and some veggie soup are dinner. There is a mini book called "the right mix" that helps you figure out what foods work best to make you feel satisfied and healthy- and that is different for each of us. They offer some recommendations in that booklet based upon how your respond to some questions. As soon as I get my "new" copy (they are issuing all new literature each week) I'll send you my old one. You would not get it until week 5 if you were doing meetings anyway. Hope ya got your shower in !!!!!
Well tomorrow is WI for me.....have not been to my home meeting for weeks!!!:( I am looking foward to it and seeing my buddy that I go with. Spryng was right- at home with little clothes I broke out of the 150's to 149. With clothes I doubt I will see that at WW, but I am still excited. Even my "new" jeans are starting to feel big- but I refuse to buy new jeans yet. Gotta get rid of more of this blubber. At some time tomorrow I will get online and tell you what was said at the meeting.

Ginny thanks for all the info in your post. Yes you made perfect sense about how an item may have 0 points but still has calories so I must be careful. My ff miracle whip has zero calories according to my food slider but I knew not to use more than the 1 tblsp serving or that number can change. So I'm trying to watch my portions too. :) I ended up having that garlic and spinach pasta again tonight but added a fozen bag of stir fry veggies to it too and it was very good and filling. I made sure to add the extra points too. Oatmeal sounds great. I keep trying to figure out what to eat for braekfast, my special K bars are good but not even close to being filling, I think I may have some oatmeal tomorrow too! I can use splenda to sweeten it. Now I am looking forward to breakfast, lol. My day has been tiring. Tanner has been crying most of the day. I think he wasn't feeling well. But he ate just fine and all that and now he looks like an angel in his bassinet. I've been hungry all day too. Don't know why. So I feel like I had alot to eat but really I only came to 19 points by tonight. So I'm below my range. Oh and I talked to my DH tonight and he'll be home on the 19th for the weekend!!! I'm so excited to know that!! And I got my bike ride in. My metabolism is picking up too because of my exercise. How do I know? Well I read that you know your exercise is working when you sweat earlier into the workout. Well I wasn't even on for 5 minutes when I broke out into a sweat! I know it's crazy to get excited about that but I am. It's nice to know my body is working right and that I was burning some fat off. :)
Well, I am getting in bed early tonight. Oh I did want to say that I tried on my size 12 jeans (I'm in 14 right now) and I could button them but they were tight. But that is a sign that it is not far off from being attainable!! Guess I am losing inches afterall!! So it's been a long trying day but a great night! I'll see you all tomorrow! G'nite!

Thanks for all the welcomes :) I appreciate that. I have been struggling...the "click" seems to come and go and I'm finding it hard to get into a groove- though my desire to succeed is very strong. I will do this!
My oldest ds had his first day of kindergarten today! It will a fun year for him and I'm looking forward to getting into a schedule. I'm trying to fit in exercise somewhere- currently doing the Walk Away the POunds video...this morning I stayed up early after nursing the baby and made a nice "first day of school" breakfast-- thought I would get the exercise in, but didnt' happen! Running around, then company for dinner. I know it just has to be #1 priority.
Well, my early morning has left me pretty tired tonight. I'll be back tomorrow!

Hey girls.. just a quick note before I get the kids on the bus and hop on my bike.......
Ginny, I use a mix when I make the waffles. Right now, I have some Trader Joe's buttermilk pancake mix in the house, but you can use Bisquick or something like that. I have even used the reduced fat Bisquick, and it is still great! Just follow the recipe on the box for waffles, but omit the oil and add 1/2 can of pumpkin, instead. I also add about 1 Tbs "autumn" spice mix, which is really just a mix of ground cinnamon, nutmed, cloves and ginger. I have a great Belgian waffle maker, and I usually make a double-batch and freeze the extra for quick morning breakfasts. BTW, pumpkin pancakes are delish, too! You can always add less pumpkin if you don't want a real strong pumpkin taste, and use egg substitute instead of whole eggs to cut fat/calories (I usually do this, but was out last night). And, you could make a small batch of regular waffles for ds, in case he doesn't like them.

Emily, stick with it, hon. When you are ready, you will "click." I just had my click last week. Until then, I had been on again, off again for months. I'm a firm believer that whatever is supposed to happen, will, and you can't force anything. Your back-to-school breakfast sounded great. I hope ds is enjoying kindergarten as much as mine. :)
Spryng, I am so happy for you that dh will be home next weekend! How terrific! I know the kids will be excited, too! And congrats about those size 12 jeans! I hope to be in that size, myself, by Thanksgiving. :)
Ginny, I hope your meeting goes well today. And your WI. I'll be thinking of you today and waiting to hear all about it. And you are right.... I am inspired! It's that "click" that Emily talked about. Last night, I was desperately trying to stay up for a favorite tv show... I knew I was low on calories for the day and could have a snack, but I wasn't really all that hungry. In the past, I would have eaten something anyway. But instead, I decided sleep was more important than the tv show, and that I wasn't going to eat something just because I could. I went to bed, instead! :D So, I guess that's progress.
Karen, Ricci, and Michele..... hope you are doing ok. Drop in when you can. I gotta hit the shower and then take ds out to run some errands. Have a great day! :)

Emily- gee, you sound upbeat for the first week of kindegarten! Nice that for both of you- fun for Ds and some stability during the day for you. Your nice breakfast sounded great.....and you'll get the excercise in when you can. As Jen mentioned- it all works out in due time. You will click when you are ready. But- one thing that my WW leader advises us is even if we have not "clicked"yet is to "fake it till you make it". Try to make good food choices and control portion size. Increase your activity- even a 15 minute walk is great. Just doing that and not being totally vigillant and you will lose- and that might inspire you to "click"!
Jen- now I have spared you from talking to yourself!! (something I excell at........:dizzy: :lol: ). Great to hear from you- I know with your schedule it can be tough to get here. Thanks for the info on the pumpkin waffles. Yes, I think I would make a half batch, with my fusspot son. They sound good though. I usually make waffles from scratch/pancakes from a mix- so for the waffles I can really play with the amount of butter I add and replace that with pumpkin. For that matter, applesauce would probably work well too! WTG staying away from the food last nite!! Evenings can be hard when fatigue sets in. But you resisted!!!!!!:D
Spryng- Great news that Dh will be home on the 19th!:D And those size 12's getting easier to button. You will be in them in no time! Sounds like you are getting the hang of this points thing.
Pretty easy- right? I would never be able to get away with the Special K bar for breakfast.....those 2 points would fly right thru me. But the oatmeal (same 2 points) holds me for hours. Hope it works for you too! Eat your range- ok? You can go up to 25 points in a day, feel free to use all or some of them.
Got to my meeting (but I am running out of time). So glad to be back to my home meeting, Laura is just so inspiring (and nuts).
Today was about activity. WW is now asking for 7-14 activity points a week - figure one point is 20 minutes of brisk walking.
And they want that increased to 20-28 points a week as you go on. Aughhhhhh!!!!!! guess my walking shoes are gonna get one dilly of a workout. I lost this week- total down is 30.8. Oh, on their scale I was (with clothes) 150.8. So the 150 barrier still eludes me....maybe next week! Spryng there were lots of new folks there today, and all the magazines were sold out. I did get the new eating out/supermarket guides. You can have my old ones, as I had mentioned. Shall I wait till next week to send them with the magazine?

Congrats Ginny on your loss!! I bet next week you will break through that 150# barrier! You already have at home without your clothes, so soon your WW meeting scale will show the same. :) You have done so well. 30.8 lbs lost. That is fantastic. You truly believe in WW and it shows, what an inspiration to me!! And the rest of us no matter what plan we are on. It's up to you when you want to send those materials. I went ahead and ordered the WW magazine subscription but I won't get my first issue for 6-8 weeks. So if you can send me on that would be great too. Oh and I wanted to let you know that I am updated on this new Flexpoint system. Have you switched to it yet? If so how do you like it? I think for now I'm just going to stick with the winning points system you sent me and use my banked points as treat points. When my DH comes home I may try the flexpoint so I can indulge a little while he's here for two days without worrying about blowing my progress. I did have oatmeal for breakfast and you are right... it really stuck with me. I eat breakfast about 9 am and usually by 10 am I am hungry again, but today I actually made it to 11:30 before I had to get some lunch in me! So I think I will stick wit oatmeal for awhile and the kids enjoyed it too since they were getting tired of cereal everyday :)
Jen that is what I have been trying to do also at night, to distract myself from wanting to munch on something when I'm not really hungry. Good for you for just getting some sleep. another thing that will curb your appetite is exercise. I know it sounds crazy but when I exercise before I go to bed I lose all hunger pains. I drink alot of water afterwards and I feel so satisfied. Weird huh? but it works for me. PLus if I am on my bike peddling and using the hand bars I can't put anything in my mouth but I help trim my waistline. So it's a good trade off. :)
Emily, having the desire to start is a good thing. Before long you'll feel physically moved to start also. That's how it was for me. I knew in my head I was ready to lose the weight but it took a couple of tries to fall into the swing of things and get serious. But even if you begin and mess up or something... don't feel bad. Losing weight is a process that never ends. Once you get the weight off then it's the process of keeping it off so it really is a lifestyle change for good. So every now and then we are all going to fall off the wagon.. but the difference between falling off and failing is the ability to get back on again. And that's what we are here for! To help you stay on or dust you off when you fall so you can get back on! Anytime you need support we are here for you!
Well my day is going well. I've been watching old home videos of my family and kids... they were so cute and little... :) they have loved it even more than me. You would have thought I put in Barney or something as excited as they got to see themselves on screen! It's really cute! But now it's nap time and I think I'm going to browse the net for awhile. Well, I am trying something new today......... I have to work tonight, and typically, I would eat regular meals during the day, plus an extra "something" during the night at work. Usually, I eat a bit less the next day, so I've always figured it all evens out. But lately I've been questioning whether I end up over-eating. So, what I did today was have a good breakfast that would fill me up. (cream of wheat with apples) Then, at lunchtime, I had a small 110 cal snack. I ate a late lunch, around 3pm. I will lie down for a nap at 6pm, when dh gets home, so no dinner at that time. I will eat dinner at work, instead. I will probably have a bowl of cereal very early in the morning, too (I keep a box in my locker at work). That will be my breakfast for tomorrow, because I wouldn't normally eat when I get home because I usually lie down til lunchtime. With this schedule, it keeps me on a 3 meal/day track, with 1 or 2 small snacks, even when I'm working.
