Welcome back Ruth & Zoe:D
Ruth, sorry about your Grandfather. If he was talking about heaven he must have seen the light. My cousin passed away at a young age & right before he passed away he said the gates were open & he wasn't scared anymore. I'm glad you were there.
Zoe, don't worry about the Labor Day challenege. It was hard for me too. If it wasn't for the exercise I would have gained. Thank God for Curves. It's quick & easy but you see results!
Jen, let me know how you made out at your weigh in. I stayed home today. My arm is hurting. I think it was from carrying Sammy around. He's so cute. I have to show Susie a lot of attention. She's so scared of him, it's so funny. I was picking her up everytime he chased her so the tendinitis is really acting up.
Just popped in to say hi.
Till later.

Hi,
I lost 5.2 lbs. my first week :cb: And I used all my FlexPoints after all...it was a challenging holiday weekend! 19 more to go to reach my 10%. After that I'm going to use 10 lb. increments as mini-goals. I've got to stick with this....and am counting on ALL OF YOU to help :D
We met Joey's friend, Iliana, on Sunday. Went to an outdoor concert by a really good Beatles' band, and had a great time. She's 36 to his 24, which I wasn't happy about, as you know. They get along well together, the age doesn't seem to matter. She's intelligent and warm, very likeable.
Es,
sorry to hear bout your arm. :( That puppy will be spoiled!

Afternoon ladies!!
JEN, I am so inspired by your 5.3 lbs lost!! :bravo: :cb:  :cp: That is so great. Now I have faith that I will do it, and I've even convinced myself to pull out the treadmill and spend an hour or so on it. I really need to burn those activity points. Since I overate yesterday, I figured my dinner and my little snacking before I left home at 40 points, It's hard to believe that I could have gone over that. The salads I chose were more oil and vinegar, the shrimp were boiled, the only meat I had earlier in the day was half of a 2 inch link sausage, so I'm hoping that I didn't ruin the whole week. That dang banana pudding is probably what really done me in. Well, I just do not plan to use anymore flex points this week.
ZOE, your not alone. I didn't lose a pound. Needless to say, I gained some over the last few months. Oh well, we still have the rest of our lives to do it. In other words, never give up!!!
ES, I bet your new puppy is spoiled already!! Be careful with your arm, take care of yourself.
Well, I'm gonna run, I'll probably check back in before I go to bed.

Evening ladies, well I thought I'd post a quick message, I might not get a chance to get back online later.
How is everyone today? Today was one of my busy days at school, first class at 9:00 am the last class over at 1:15. Anyway, I'm on my way out the door to join a group of Spanish speaking students and teachers at a coffee house. I'm hoping to pick up something that will help, my luck I won't understand a word they say!!! Hey DIANNE and ES, maybe you guys can send me some help by mental telephathy (misspelled).
Anyway, hope everyone is okay, I'll talk to you later if I have time.

Hi everyone. We had a great time. We went to the Jazz Factory for dinner and saw Dukle Ellington's grandson's band. It was so good.
CONGRATS On the weight loss you girls. WoooooHooooo!
2 for Es and 5.3 for Jen. That is wonderful.
Es,
Sammy sounds adorable. I love Pugs. Suzie will come around.
Jen,
That is great that you like Iliana. Hope it works out for you.
Ruth,
Hi. Glad to see you back. Good luck with your classes. Spanish huh. I'd love to be in the next booth. I love to hear Spani9sh.

Hi,
While I'm sorry to see another summer come to an end, it's a pleasure to have autumn right around the corner. Our days are shorter already, and the nights are cool.
Joe surprised me with tickets to see the Neville Brothers at the House of Blues tomorrow evening! We usually see them every other year when they play the outdoor festival, as we did this year. Tomorrow's performance will be a bonus :D twice in two months. Joey and Iliana are also going. The Chicago traffic has become so horrendous over the last few years...to arrive downtown by 6 p.m. for dinner reservations we'll have to leave here at 3:30  making a road trip out of what is a 45 minute drive.
Es,
how are you doing? This week I've been very hungry, using FlexPoints each day.
Ruth,
you've got a full load of classes. Don't sweat what you ate, look forward.
Terri,
your evening sounded wonderful!

Morning everyone,
Well the weekend is almost here again. I need to get away with my books and do some serious reading.
TERRI, the session with the students and teachers was fun. It is such a large group that we will have to meet at the school next time. There was too much noise with the other group of high school kids that were in there and the noise from the blenders making frozen drinks. It was fun and I did understand a few words!! All in all I think it will help in the long run, I'll go back everyweek.
Do you still have your live feed to Big Brother? This is the first time that I've not liked many of the final people in there. Since Robert is HOH, I imagine Erica is gone (unless there is a secret alliance, but I don't see that happening) He will probably be in the final two, just have no idea of which girl will make it.
JEN, sounds as if you have a nice evening planned. Enjoy!!!
Well, I've got to run, I like to go to school early so I can have some quiet time to read before class starts!

Good morning guys:wave:
First of all, I had to take a moment to come in here and congratulate Es and Jen on their great losses :bravo: :balloons:  How great for you both - you must be on :cloud9:
I haven't had the chance yet to re-join ww, but it looks like the flexpoints program is working well for you guys. Can someone just give me a break-down of how it works? Maybe I can start trying to use it in the meanwhile, until I can get to a meeting. I would appreciate your help!
Terri - sounds like you guys had a great night.
Jen - The Neville bros. - how  I love Aaron Neville, ever since I was a teen in high school and that wonderful song "Tell it Like it Is" came out! He has such a distinctive voice. If he gets to NY to perform, I would definitely try to see him.
Es - Your new doggie sounds so cute - Suzie will get use to him - probably a little jealous right now, just like a child who gets a new baby brother/sister in the house
Hi Ruth - Como Estas? I'd be happy to help, as I'm sure Es would, if you need assistance with your spanish - a la orden!
Hey ZoeGirl - How are you doing?
Hi Janie - What's up?
Well, just wanted to stop in to congratulate all you losers and now I'm writing a book;)

Yes, I have the live feed. I too think he will get rid of Erika.
I do not want Alison in the final 2 cause the second runner up gets $50,000. I don't want her to get any money. Of all the final people I want Erika to win so I hope she gets the Power of Veto. I will find out tonight who gets it. The live feeds gives me all the answers early.
That is so cool about the Spanish Students.

Hi Girls,
OMG this pup is so bad. Sometimes I think to myself, what have I gotten myself into. But then when I look at his face I don't regret it. It's been so long since I trained a puppy. Susie was so easy to train. She was so good. But this guy is a hand full. Geezzzz I haven't even had time to go to Curves!!!!
Jen, to tell you the truth I didn't track my points this week.:yikes: I know I stayed within my range because I eat pretty much the same thing.
Ruth, you don't have to say muy muchos. If you want to say it's alot, it's es muchos. You'll get it. ;) I'm the wrong person to ask cause I speak spanglish like they say in the Bronx.
Dianne, the flex points is something like banking but they've made it much easier. Everyone gets target points. For example, 150 to 174 pounds gets 22 pts plus 35 flex to use anyway you want. You can break them up,(I use 5 a day) or you can use them in one day. Activity points you use the same day. You can't go over 4 pts a day. Use them or lose them.
175 to 199 24 pts.
200 to 224 26 pts.
less than 150 20 pts.
It's a great plan if you stick to it.
Let me go eat. I'm starving. Sammy is sleeping THANK GOD!!! No wonder why Susie is so scared of him. He's so hyper!!
Love you guys,
Es

Es,
I could just squeeze Sammy. He sounds so cute. I remember when we first got Tanner. He was way WORSE than any of my babies. We crate trained him. It didn't take long to get him to go outside. He still sleeps in his cage cause at almost 3 cause he still likes to grab things so we will chase him. ORNERY little things.

Oh, Es,, Sammy sounds so cute! At times I think I would really love to get a puppy...take walks...the companionship..but I know that it's a lifelong commitment, and if I'm not ready to give that, it's not fair to the animal. I hope you all have a long happy life together :D
I've got to give you credit for staying on the same course for meals. I could eat the same thing every day also.... if it was pasta and cheese and breads! meanwhile, I'm trying to shake things up a bit and make meals more interesting while keeping them low in points. I'm over for the week already. That's ok. I exercised and am drinking my water, so am still doing good. :D
Dianne,
the FlexPoints program is different from before in that you have a checkbook-type journal, and start the day with your Points Target total, then subtract what you use. It's a simple method, and I love it. I love seeing that dinner's over and I've got points left! I know it's a mind game...but whatever works, right? I'm positive they changed it due to many people "playing" with the program...ie. starting their day at night, or having high days and low days. Now it's a no-brainer and no playing. Use them or lose them!
I'm glad I began the project of scanning and saving my parents' letters now in anticipation of giving it as Christmas gifts. There are 85 envelopes...I'm finished with about 12 of them. My Mom had the gift of gab.. most letters are 8 pages long  It looks as though, even if I print them double-sided, it'll come to more than 200 pages. I'm having a great time doing it, tho.....you should see some of the stuff my Mom wrote...a feminist way before her time, back in 1938 when she was only 18!

I am so glad that you were there at the end. I am so sorry.

That is so cool about the letters. Your mom sounds so cool.
How long were they married?
I am weighing in on Saturdays after this week. I hate not being able to eat salty foods on weekends. Salt affects my weigh-ins so bad. I will stay op but at least I can have meat and fries. I always stay away from salty foods 2 days before weigh-in. So on Thursday and Fridays it is no problem.

Hi Everyone,
I have missed you all ever since I stopped being a part of this group. I have been longing to come back, but I wanted to wait until I was ready to focus on WW again. I made the commitment just yesterday and rejoined meetings with a season pass that is good until the end of the year. The flexpoints and the checkbook style of tracking look good. I want to join in here with a fresh start and not look back at my old efforts with regrets, but use the new materials like it is the first time.
I'll catch up with you all by reading some of the old posts, it is lovely to see everyone here.

Good Saturday Morning Friends ~
I'm sitting here, ready to leave the house in about 15 minutes. I have to take little Zoe to the groomer, a hair appt for my highlights and a cut, Home Depot to get those self closing hinges for the fence gate now that the pool is done, groceries for company coming for a BBQ tonight.......whew! I'm tired just thinking about it all.
Congrats to all of you who are doing so well with you weight loss. I have to say that after losing about 44 lbs, I've gained somewhere around 6 so that's not too bad. I am back on track again (only since yesterday I might add.....) but decided to really cut out all the carbs I eat, if only for about 2 weeks. I want to see what sort of difference it makes. I think it shoudl show a loss over 2 weeks since I am a carb-o-holic. It's also going to be very difficult but hey, what's 2 weeks.....then I'll have some pasta for dinner. :D
I am so sorry that I haven't commented to anyone on your posts. I am going to go back a re-read so I can catch up on all of your lives. Geeze, it's only been a little more than a month but I feel like I've been gone for a year! I really missed you's guys.
I will return after my full day..........have a wonderful Saturday. It will be a high of around 88 today so it's going to be beautiful.
Love you's,

I am so glad you are motivated again. Can't wait to hear more.
Zoe,
You do sound busy. 6 isn't bad at all. The key is to catch it before it all comes back on. :bravo: I remember how cute Zoe is. She needs to look good for the company too. :D
I lost 1.4 today. I am so happy because I had 2 bad days with the Hotel and all. I made up for it on Tue. - Fri.
That is a total of 8.4 so far. I want my 10# star. :D
Gotta go and take turns letting the boys lay in my lap while we talk and I rub their hair. I will miss that when they don't want to any more. I don't think Britts will ever want me to quit.
I got her proofs. I will scan a couple to show you later.

Terri,
can't wait to see Brittany's photo. You go, girl...that 10# Star will be yours soon!!!!
Zoe,
good luck with the carbs. That should be a good jump-start!
We had a wonderful time last night. The weather was gorgeous, downtown Chicago was also. Joe and I began with drinks, then dinner, then Joey and Iliana met up with us for the concert. Unreal....it was standing-only in the House of Blues...since we were early, we were at the stage! We had our drinks on its edge, were only 6 feet away from Aaron Neville the entire night. They did a great show. Afterwards we went out with Joey and Iliana bar-hopping downtown, ended up getting home at 3 this morning  We haven't done that in years! I told Joe today that it was the perfect date :D
Then this morning Joe had to work the Northwestern football game. I felt so sorry for him, he had to be there at 9, while I pretty much lazed about all day. Did some grocery shopping and that was it. We're beat tonight, am turning in when I finish this.
Needless to say, I'm weighing in on Thursday this week! just need a couple of days to flush out the poisons.

Hi Buddies,
Thank you for the welcome back!
Jen and Teri,
My mom is now living pretty independently back in her own home. She has the support of my aunt and uncle who live less than a mile away. Her neighbors were so glad to see her back again they have even offered to take her on errands. She has also sought out the local Council on Aging for their services, which includes some van rides for shopping, medical appointments and some recreation. I feel so much better about her situation. We all miss my dad, who died last November, but I have to admit that I was relieved that his terrible suffering with Parkinson’s disease is over.
I was missing from the boards for such a long time, you gals are so wonderful for remembering me.
I am excited about rejoining WW, the new tracker is pretty cool. Today is only my fourth day, but I have high hopes about having a good loss this week. My weigh in is on Friday morning, I already used 24 of the flexpoints. But I am not surprised, we usually have our fun meals on the weekends.
:hun:
Ruth, Sorry about the loss of your grandfather.
Zoe, Congrats on the new house!
Es, Enjoy your new pup, I am envious, what fun!

Good Monday Morning Ladies ~
Greg and I took today off so that the builder could send some people for some "last minute missed items". You know, you don't see everything that isn't right until you're actually living in the house. Nothing major, just some touch up stuff. So once they are gone, we may go to the mall. :D
Sandy ~ sorry not to have mentioned your Mom. I'm so glad to hear that she's doing so well. To have your Aunt and Uncle so close to her must be such a relief you her and for you. Glad to see you back here again.
Ruth ~ I've been away from here for a month or so and just now am re-reading the posts. I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. Hope you're doing okay and that school is going well.
Terri ~ WTG, you're doing so good. That star is on it's way. :) If I remember, you do not have that much to lose now, right? You've been the one whose stayed 'down', right? Keep up the good work.
Es ~ How's that puppy doing? Is Suzie accepting the fact that she's not the queen of the castle now? congrats on the weight loss too.....
Dianne ~ How are you girl? Did you re-join yet or just thinking about it? The new Flex Points is okay. I don' see all that much different other than the amount of points you get. If you count them up, you end up with more points than you did, if you use all of your Flex Points. I suppose WW just thought everyone was losing too fast....ha!
Jen ~ Congrats on your loss too! Everyone seems to be doing good now. My carb counting is ok but sooooooo difficult. I have done it in a drastic way.....cutting out carbs like Atkins but counting points. I don't like it. :( After today, I am going back to the regular points but maybe just curb my carbs each day. That should do it. Oh, and only 6 feet from Aaron Neville....Woo Hoo!!
Janie ~ hi to you too.....how's everything?
Hope I didn't miss anyone......probably did and I am so sorry. Gotta run. Have a wonderfully blessed Monday.

Matthew is here for a visit, the length of which is still to be determined! It was a last minute decision; Joey was visiting at Jess's yesterday, and we asked him to bring Matt home with him last night. It gives Jess a break, she's working hard in her classes...and it gives me a Matthew "fix" :D
We just returned from Lenscrafters....dummy me was on the porch last night, with my glasses on the step next to me. Matt was showing off his new light up gym shoes, and stomped accidentally on the glasses not once, but twice  they didn't break but did require serious adjustments.

Greetings All!!
After being a member for over a year, I gave up going to WW (and chatting on 3FC) last Spring - you know the "I-can-save-some-money-and-do-it-on-my-own" syndrome. I fully intended to go back if anything went whacky (even have some pre-paid meeting coupons left over), but of course I haven't returned and managed to find about 7 lbs. since quitting. I recently heard about "Flex Points". I'm very familiar with WW points program but can any of you explain to me how these flex points work? The way I'm interpreting it: if your range is 22-27 (as mine is), I can either add up to 5 points per day without considering any activity points (they'd be added as appropriate) or I can keep all or some of these flex points for a dinner out, bbq or whatever. Have I got that right? Seems to me there must be a catch to it that isn't explained on their website. Seems too easy. Any input welcome..../Deb

Hi Buddies,:(
It seems as if the moment I begin to appreciate how well things are going, fate steps in to remind me that there is no such thing as smooth sailing. At midnight on Tuesday my mom called to say that an ambulance was on the way to bring her to the hospital. She was in too much pain to stand at all.
I spent 10 hours at the hospital with her yesterday waiting for the surgeon to let us know what was going on. It turns out that the metal rod in her thigh had failed and that the femur further up in her leg had fractured. She will need to have a total artificial femur made of titanium and a hip replacement. She will have the surgery tomorrow on Friday.
I am praying and hoping that all of this can be resolved for her without a lot of suffering. She has endured a lot over the past 5 years.
In the meantime, I have to choose to take care of myself too. I will try to make good choices with WW, but may not be as focused on my points on the rough days. I don't know what else to say for now, I was so looking forward to an easier year ahead. We'll see....
Hugs to you all,
Sandy

My sentiments exactly. God Bless the families on this day.
Jen,
Congrats on your loss. That is great. Matt sounds so cute.
Deb,
HI! Your target point is 24 points for one day. You are supposed to eat that. You cannot carry any over to the next day. If you earn Activity Points they either can be eaten or not but they can't be carried over either. You can eat as many flex points as you need up to 35 a week. Some people eat 5 a day others save them for a special occasion. It is up to you.
Here is something I am proud of. I went to a neighborhood gathering yesterday morning to welcome a new neighbor. Here in the south they have huge breakfast parties.
They had a casserole that looked sinful with so much cheese
and 2 packs of crispy kreme doughnuts, a pecan pie, bagels and cream cheese and a pineapple upside down cake.
I ate a good breakfast before I went over and I ate a half a piece of pineapple upside down cake there. That was 5 points.
I felt so good doing that.
I ordered Britts senior pics this morning and I used a coupon at chickfila that gave me a free chargrilled southwest salad for free. It is only 4.5 points. I am going to exercise and then eat it.
I had my first eggwhite omelet this morning with onions and mushrooms and some teriyaki sauce and boy was it good.

Terri,
What a breakfast that was. You did very well considering what was offered! I've never tried an egg white omelet either, now I know it's "safe" to eat  I've always wondered but didn't try it.
Turns out Matthew will be here till Saturday. This is a very long week for him to be away from Mom, Dad and Brandon. He is so much fun. I'm getting used to stepping on Matchbox cars barefoot
I glanced at the new Dr. Phil book about weight control. I think I'm going to buy it.

Welcome to our group Deb. The Flex points are so easy. I eat 5 a dayplus my target which is 24 pts. I exercise too so I add another 2 points depending how hard I worked out.
I ran into the WW receptionist today & she said she would tell them to give me a break because I missed Sunday. I guess she so used me quitting. I'll be back later guys.
Sam the Man has to go out. LOL

Hi Deb,
Welcome to the group this new flexpoints system is easier to use, I am only starting my 2nd week and I think it will be really more natural to use with the checkbook style of tracker where you know your target for the day and deduct your points as you use them.
Jen,
Congrats on your .5, every bit counts, and the 5.7 total in 2 weeks that is terrific!:cb:
How old is Matthew? He sounds like a bundle of energy.
Terri,
That is really great, that you planned ahead and resisted indulging at the buffet breakfast. :cp:I regularly have to deal with so many food situations, family get togethers, work meetings with food included, and church socializing. All of this socializing is a good part of what got me where I am today. I need to talk more and eat less. :gossip:I think if we keep sharing our successes, that we will all get stronger and develop the strategies that will work for us to keep the pounds off for good this time.
My Mom will have the surgery this afternoon and I will visit her this evening once she is in recovery. She has been through this so many times already, that we are not panicky, just prayerful.
In the meantime I feel like I am in the calm before a storm, so I went off to WW to weigh in this morning. What with all the running to the hospital, I only used the tracker 5 of the 7 days, but I did well anyway and lost 3.8 pounds for my first week. It is great to be able to start fresh with a new tracker, I will try to hang in there whatever happens this week.
Hi to Es, Dianne, Janie, Ruth and Zoe, hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend ahead.

Sandy,
:cp: Weigh to go!! :D It seems everyone is doing well with FlexPoints. I love the tracker. Your Mom is in my prayers.
Matthew turned 3 in June. He's a cutie, with a great sense of humor even in one so young.
Es,
How's Susie doing? is she adjusting at least a bit to sharing you with Sam?
Sounds as tho the receptionist is very accomodating, and realistic; that was nice of her. :D
While I haven't been feeling as pumped up as I was in week 1, I'm still positive about staying OP. We can do it!!!
Tonight is dinner w/my girlfriends to celebrate a birthday. I used to work with them, some for as many as 18 years. I love that we still get together a few times a year. We're going to an Italian restaurant in the city. I know there'll be more talking than eating, so I should be ok. Plus I had a light breakfast and lunch, have 17points for dinner :)
have a great weekend!

Hello My friends,
I can't believe John Ritter passed away. So young:(
Sandy, I will pray for your Mom. She's been through alot. Congratulations on your loss!
Jen, we are very much alike when it comes to WW. I lost some of my motivation too. That's what I was telling the receptionist, I guess she felt bad & offered me a free week. She's pretty heavy for a receptionist. She said she struggles all the time. I told her the main thing is not to give up. Like you said we can do it. ;) Susie is getting used to Sammy. She snapped at him a few times. She doesn't like him chasing her. When they do start hanging out together they are going to look real cute together. Have a great time with your friends.
I eat egg white omelets all the time. I chop up onoins & green pepper, I add light mozzerella cheese or small pieces of light sausage with roasted veggies. It's filling & very good. Oh, I put salsa on top of the omelet.:T
Well, have a good night. I'll be back tomorrow. I'm planning to stay home. The weather is going to be lousy. Pete has to work so I'll stay home & clean maybe rent a movie.
Love you's,

Hi Buddies,
I just heard from the surgeon, my Mom is in the recovery and the surgery went smoothly. I am heading back to the hospital for a while tonight, and will check in with you all tomorrow.
What an afternoon! I had a lot of nervous hunger, and ate most of a package of stir-fry veggies in broth to get through the day. Sometimes when I am anxious I don't remember to eat, but today was a really hungry day.
Hugs to all,
Sandy

Jen,
The white omelet is sooo good. I first saute some onions and mushrooms and add a tiny bit of low sodium soy sauce and then I pour the egg white on top of that after the onions soften. Then when it is almost done I add some 2% cheese in middle and top. It all adds up to a whopping 2 points.
I'll bet Matt is having a blast.
That book sounds interesting. I might take a look at it. He has some kind of weight loss thing on NBC tonight at 7:00. Next week is his new season and he is having a house where people are going to stay and lose. Kind of like a reality thing. Sounds interesting.
I'll bet you will do fine at that dinner. There is a lot you can do with 17 points. Good luck.
Sandy,
That is a great loss. :bravo:
My prayers are with your mom. I am so glad everything went well with the surgery. No matter how many times they go through it is still scary. Try to relax tonight. Take a hot bath and light some candles. I think that is what I will do later. Works wonders.
Es,
I was shocked when I heard that he died. He was so cute on Three's Company. He was only 54.
I'll bet Susie and Sammy look adorable together. I have to have a picture of that sometime. I still have a picture of Zoe, Zoe's cutie.
Well, Britt's is going to a football game tonight and Brandon is going to a friend's to sleep over. It will be lonley with just Bradley but I think I will survive.
Tomorrow is my weigh-in. I hope I can have 4 weeks in a row of losses. I don't care if it is .2.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Last night we received the sad news that Jessica's mother-in-law, Maria, passed away. She had severe asthma and was hospitalized often for that. Apparently she had been put on a blood thinner for something, which may have caused a clot to travel to her lungs or brain. The details so far are sketchy. The worst part is that Maria was only 51. Life is really unfair at times. It's difficult to see the kids going through this loss.

Hello everyone:
Jen - So sorry to hear about Jessica's MIL, that's so sad, she was so young. Congrats on the 5.7 lbs lost so far - great job -:bravo:
Deb - welcome!
Sandy - Glad to hear your mom's surgery went well and congrats on the 3.8 lbs. lost :bravo: With your mom's problems and all, you really did amazingly well.
Es - I love the "Sam the Man" , so cute. That was really nice of the receptionist to offer you the free week. I still haven't had a chance to get to the new ww meetings :(
Terri - Please send me Britts picture when you have a chance, december4dianne@aol.com. I'd love to see it.
Hi Janie and Zoe - hope you guys are doing well.
Well, its been a hectic weekend so far - willie just got out of the hospital. He called me at work thursday to say he was having some heart palpitations and was dizzy and nauseous. He had been at Lisa's house in Staten Island and had left and was ready to get on the highway, when he felt sick. He pulled over and a man came out and asked him if he needed an ambulance, so he called one for him. I left work right away and took a cab from Brooklyn to Staten Island. They kept him overnight. Anyway, he had some tests and they came back okay, but he has to go back on Monday for another. He didn't want to stay in the hospital over the weekend, but promised them he would come back on Monday. They told him it might be something called (and I'm sure I didn't get this correct) Vagala Vagle??? Something like that. It has to do with your body's electrical impulses. Where something happens where your body reacts to what it thinks is wrong - like people who faint at weddings, etc. Its part emotional, stress, etc. and part physical. Anyway, he will follow it up with a couple more tests next week. Thank God Lisa lives in Staten Island, so at least I was able to sleep at her house onThursday night and not have to come home to Queens alone, and then have to come back the next day again. He needs to change his diet too - so it looks like I really have to get back on track for both our sakes. He always did well when I went on ww.
Well, gotta get to sleep - really tired. Hope you all have a great Sunday.
Hugs,
Jenny523

Dianne,
what a scare you must have had. It's good, tho, that they let Willie go home, right? I hope he's doing better, and that his tests go well. It'll be good for both of you to be on WW, then, that'll be easier.
Maria's service is tomorrow. The family chose to have it all in one day, a morning wake, then the service, then the burial. Jess and Michael are in the city now meeting with his 2 brothers and sister to make arrangements. (Michael's parents were divorced years ago, his dad is now remarried) Since we live midway between Jess and the city, they and the boys will spend the night here again; in the morning they'll go early to the funeral home, and Joe and I will bring the boys towards the end of the wake. They're too young to spend hours there. It will be a long day for everyone as it is.

Hi Jen,
I am so sorry to hear about Jen's MIL. That is a terrible loss for both Michael and his siblings. His mother really should have been at the prime of life at 51 and able to enjoy all the grandkids as they came along. It is incredible how suddenly things can change with a health issue like asthma. My thoughts are with Jess, Michael and the whole family.

hi everyone:
Jen - my thoughts are with you and your family. I think they made the right decision to do everything in one day. In my opinion, its more painful to go to a wake for 3 days.
Terri - Thanks for sending me Britt's photo - I'll check it out when I get home. Congrats on the loss :bravo: great job!
Willie is still waiting to take another test - called a tilt table test. They think what he has is vasovagal syndrome. I went on line last night to check it out. So, we'll see what happens. We were scheduled to leave on a cruise to Bermuda this Sunday coming - but now, we're not sure. The doctor doesn't want him to go until they find out what his problem is. Its disappointing but, his health is more important of course.
Thanks everyone for your well wishes for willie.

Good Monday evening Y'all ~
I know I've been scarce but I am just so exhausted lately ~ there's always something to do, something to get done, someone to call and someone to scream at. (yeah, really.....) The pool is done but HOLY CANOLI, what a mess around it. It's landscape time. We're taking Friday and next Monday off so that we can work around the back yard, get somewhat cleaned up but I'm sure most will wait until the sping. I'm hoping to get alot done but who knows.
first, let me congrat all the losers. I'm reading the posts and wow, you's guys sure are losin' a bunch. Great work! I am back on track for a week now but haven't weighed. I think I'm even going to skip my WI this week and weigh next week instead. I'm hoping to see some loss by then. I tried Atkin's for 5 days to get a 'jump start' but I think it hurt me in the end, going back to points......I may have gained a pound or 2 in the switch. Oh well, I am back with the points now and feel pretty good.
Dianne ~ my prayers for Willie and his health.
Jen ~ my prayers to you too, for Jessica and all. So young, it's such a sad thing.
Sorry not to address everyone. I have dinner ready and need to go. I promise not to be so scarce and then I'll be able to keep up with y'all. I miss being here more regularly....
Have a great evening.
Love you's guys,

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for asking about my Mom, she is doing amazingly well. In fact, they are already moving her to the rehab today from the hospital. Although sometimes you have to wonder if the insurance plans have something to do with how quickly they push the patients out after their surgery.
I told her that I admired her attitude after all that she has been through, and that she really amazes me. She simply said the way she sees it, her choices are to sink or swim, and her choice is to swim.
Dianne, I hope Willie will have his health issue resolved quickly, that is a shame that you have to put off the trip, but health certainly comes under "first things first". I think one of the guys at our church had that syndrome too, and after the diagnosis, I don't recall it ever happening again to him. Here's hoping the same is true for Willie.
Jen, I was thinking about all of you yesterday, it must have been a difficult day.
Terri, I keep hearing about this beautiful girl named Brittany, my curiousity is starting to overwhelm me. Is there a way I could see her picture also?
Es, I sure know what you mean about Chinese, we ordered some on Friday night, when I had all my new Flexpoints for the week available.

Hi everyone,
The services for Maria yesterday were simple yet moving..a morning wake, then a Mass, concluding with a prayer service at the cemetary. Joe and I ended up having the boys with us throughout the day, which was better for them. Michael and Jessica, of course, had to spend their time with the surprisingly good turn out, considering it was a morning wake.
They ended up leaving here yesterday at about 6 p.m., which left the house eerily quiet after having had Matthew here for 8 days.
Dianne,
I'm hoping Willie will be okay. Of course missing your cruise will be disappointing, but better to stay close to home until you know for sure.
Terri,
good loss :D You got your 10# , didn't you? :cp:

I just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I have jumped around on different diets for years. I was always slender until kids, I am still carrying around the baby fat thirteen years later. I am hoping this time on WW will do it.
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone dealing with illnesses and death on this board. I hope those that are ill will quickly recover so your lives may get back to normal.
Es we have a puppy also, he came home with us last May. You would think that life would have settled down by now, but he is such a spaz. Terrier mix, that says a lot doesn't it? :) Life with hubby, 2 kids, 2 cats and a dog leaves never a dull moment.
I have been doing WW for 4 weeks now and have lost 11 pounds. I am doing okay with the flex points, some days having trouble with the water, but as soon as I slack off on that the weight doesn't come off either. Does anyone else really bounce around on weight? In my younger slender days, the weight just came off consistently. I was much more active and didn't have as much to loose, but now I weigh 251 monday, 249 tuesday, 246 wednesday then back to 251 thursday. It just doesn't seem consistent. I would appreciate anyones input on this. Thanks to all of you I look forward to getting to know all of you. You seem like a great group.

Welcome, chicken :)
You are right, this is a great group. We're all in varying stages of weight loss...some very close to goal, others trying to get there. One thing remains constant...the fact that there are always open arms here, no matter what the scale says.
You've done well, congrats on 11 pounds lost!
I avoid weighing daily, the variances drive me nuts :dizzy: and just hope for good results at my official weigh-ins.
Looking forward to seeing you here often.

Good morning buddies:wave:
Good news! Willie took the tilt-table test yesterday and it came out negative - so he doesn't have vasovagal sincope (lucky thing - I'd hate to have to use that phrase alot :dizzy:) So, the doctor wants him to have his ears and eyes checked for equillibrium problems and to see a gastroenterologist as well. And she said we can go on the cruise  :cb: So, we are happy campers right now. I think it will be good for him to get away and relax and I've been so stressed with this extra workload at the office and worrying about him, I know I need to get away.
Terri - I finally checked out Britt's pictures - wow! She looks like a young woman already - for some reason I pictured her much younger. She's really lovely. Thanks for sending me her photos.
Es - how's sammy doing? Still biting? Has Susie gotten used to him yet? Feels like I'm talking about 2 little kids:lol:
Jen - It must be really quiet without Matthew - wow, you had him for 8 days? You must have been in your glory. I saw "the Jessa" yesterday and she's gotten very bossy. She leads me around and tells me what to do - yesterday she said "Dan, you have to lay down - I have to give you a needle" She knows I'll do anything she says :smug:
Chicken (do you have another name we can call you?:D) Welcome to our group - these guys are great and we can talk to each other about anything. Congrats on the 11 lbs lost :bravo:
And, don't weigh yourself every day if you can help it - it will drive you bonkers :dizzy:
Sandy - Glad to hear your mom is doing well. She has a really good attitude.
Ruth - How are you doing girl? Busy with school? And how are your beautiful grandchildren?
ZoeGirl - Sounds like you're really busy with the grounds - I'm sure it will be worth it next year!
Janie - How are you and your family doing?
Well, gotta get back to work. I'm gonna be working late today and tomorrow, trying to get things in order since I'll be gone next week.
I'll talk to you's soon (someone needs to explain the "you's" to chicken so she doesn't think we're dummys)

My kids are fine. Sammy is just so cute I could eat him up. Susie is Susie, scared of her own shadow. Shes' gotten better. At least she looks at him now. Before she would turn her head.
Terri, like Dianne said, I thought Britt looked much younger, like a little girl. She's all grown up. Maybe it's because I saw the very first picture you sent. She's was around 10, I think. She's pretty just like her Mom. ;)

:cb:SURVIVOR tomorrow! :cb:
Dianne, so cool that it worked out and you'll be going after all! Having the dr's. okay will put your mind at ease. I'll bet Willie was relieved. So you're leaving Sunday for Bermuda? do you have to worry about the weather or do they predict it'll be gone from the Caribbean by then?
I've got to go pick in the garden....this is bee season which I HATE!!! The tomato and pepper plants are loaded, we haven't been out there since last week to pick anything. Bruce called telling me he finalized our Fall Break plans.
A friend of his owns a time share and she sold him a week in Orlando. It is a condo with a water park in it so we won't feel guilty if we don't go to a park every day. It has 2 big pools and a lagoon. We plan on going to The Magic Kingdom, of course, and Universal. Not sure after that. The boys haven't been there but one time and it was the week before we moved to Alabama. Bradley was 3 and Brandon was 5 so they don't remember much.
We leave Oct. 3rd. Going early to school was worth it now.

Terri, what is Dr. Phil's weight loss plan? I've been seeing it all over the place. Sammy is so bad! I can't keep up with him. He's in the kennel right now looking at my face. He's beige & black. Really cute & so smart. So cool about the time share. My sister has one in Orlando. She goes every year.
Jen, I would be running from those bees. Ewwww I hate bugs!!! I got bit by a bee once, on my neck. It felt like someone had lit a cigarette & put it on my neck. Ever since, I'm a nervous wreck when they're around. Pete cracks up when he sees me running:lol:
Dianne, so funny about Jessa being bossy. One of my co-workers granddaughter is like that with her also. She comes in to tell me all the stories cause I find her so cute. She really is bossy. Jessa is starting too early. Dan? Funny!!
Well, let me go. Sammy is looking all sad so I could pick him up. I've only had him a little over 2 wks & he knows how to get to me.

Hi Everyone,
Welcome Chicken, join the bunch, we would love to hear more from you.
Dianne, I am so glad that you and Willie are going on the cruise after all. I hope you relax and have a blast, you surely deserve a break after all of this. Happy campers on a boat, what an image!
Terri, here is my email (sandyboz@aol.com)
I would love to see Brittany's picture.
Jen, Enjoy your veggies, a woodchuck got mine this year. I was telling the guys that I had to look into fencing, and they thought I meant swordfighting.
Es, I hate bee stings, one time I dodged a bee in the garden and ended up twisting my leg so that I popped a ligament, ouch. I don't know what was worse.:?:
Greg is acting again. He tried out for a part in the fall high school play. On Monday we found out that he was chosen to play the lead character in “Arsenic and Old Lace.”
I had an interesting experience this week, one of the privileges of turning 50. My doctor recommended a screening colonoscopy. It took me months to get up the courage to schedule it, and then they are so backed up (pun intended) in the gastroenterology practice that I waited four months for the procedure. On Wednesday, I had to have a clear liquid diet and then as of 4PM drink a gallon of an evil concoction called NuLytely. It totally clears your system. On Thursday, I had the procedure. Thank goodness for drugs, I don’t remember a thing. The good news is that I am healthy in that region, and I do not need to go through it again for 10 years!
I need to weigh in this morning at WW, I expect that this experience will skew my results for the week. I still feel very light today.
My mom is in a rehab and is coming along. The doctor expects it will take 6 weeks of recovery time. She really can’t go back to her house until she can handle the stairs. She may need to stay with my sister for a bit, we’ll have to wait and see.
Hi Zoe, Ruth and Janie
Hugs to all,
Sandy:wave:

Sandy,
I loved Arsenic and Old Lace. The one with Cary Grant. Good luck to him. That is great.
To funny about fencing.
That is wonderful news about your colonoscopy. I know how you feel about not wanting to do tests. I have to get a mammogram and it scares me to death. I will do it this year. You and your sister are so wonderful to your mom. That is inspiring.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday.

Sandy,
That's great about the colonoscopy, loved your pun  I've got to schedule mine...soon. You must love seeing Greg up on stage, high school theater is so much fun to watch.
Terri,
Have you started Dr. Phil's book? I'll pick it up this weekend; I should have purchased it last week when I was taking a peek at it. They had an excerpt from it in the new issue of O magazine. I didn't know that he was counseling cardiac patients for weight control 30 years ago!
Dianne,
Have a wonderful cruise, let loose, enjoy! Safe trip to you and Willie.
Es,
How're you doing on program? I'm sorry to say that after last week's events, I went off course quite a bit. :rollpin: I'm weighing on Monday, having skipped this week.
It's too easy to let life get in the way and use it as an excuse to let my guard down. At least for me it is. There will always be something happening in life...I won't lose anything if I continue in that manner.
Hi to Janie, how are you, Steve, and Ellen?
Ruth, how's school?
Zoe and chicken, HI
have a wonderful weekend,

Good Morning everyone
Just stopping in for a moment. I just wanted to let y'all know that I lost 2.6 lbs at my WI on tuesday night.....YEAH!! I'm still about 4.7 away from my lowest but at least I'm headed in the right direction.
We took Friday off and also off this Monday so it's a wonderful long weekend. Greg had to play golf this morning (yes, I did say HAD TO) but will be home around noon or 12:30. I are going to get some things done with our yard.....hopefully.
I hope you're all having a wonderful Saturday. Talk to you's guys later or tomorrow.
Love,
Me

Hi Everyone,
Our fall is shaping up to be really busy. I woke up at 5AM this morning with the feeling that I didn’t know what I was supposed to be doing. :hyper:I started looking at all the activities we are committed too because of work, church, and school. Greg is actually the one who is wall to wall busy. The rehearsal schedule is about 4 days a week starting next week and continuing until the performances from Nov 20-22nd. In addition he is teaching Sunday school and serving on a district youth board. I am working on one of my database contracts and I am still on the church board, and will need to drive an hour each way when I visit my Mom. Mike, my DH is in choir, is the newsletter editor for church, and works full time. Dave is off at school, so thank goodness he minds his own schedule.
In the meantime, the high school asked us if we could host an exchange student for 3 weeks, Mike was encouraging me to say yes. But I don’t know if this would work, considering all the running around we do. The student is from Germany and about Greg’s age. Greg is going to be too busy to spend much time with him. They will call me tomorrow to confirm whether we want to accept or not. What do you all think?
In the meantime I lost 4lbs at WW this week, but I think it is from being dehydrated from that medical test. I certainly made up for lost points over the weekend. I had a lot of fun food, and totally enjoyed my flexpoints. Now I need to stay on the straight and narrow all week.:drill:
Terri, thanks for the pics, Brittany looks like a sweetheart!
Zoe Weigh to go! What a great loss this week:bravo:
I just got paid last week, I may treat myself to Dr. Phil’s book too, I need to learn how to keep the weight off after I lose it. I usually lose a sizable amount, but I have never gotten to goal, and I always have drifted back up to a new high eventually.
I hope everyone had a great weekend,
Love you’s,
:grouphug:

Zoe, :cp: great loss ! hope you're enjoying your long weekend. :D
Sandy, congrats on your loss also! :cp: What did you decide re: the exchange student? It's a great opportunity for everyone involved; a friend of mine hosted a student from France last year, who was with her for an entire semester.
Unfortunately I gained 1.4 lbs. since my last weigh-in. I kind of figured that was the case, what with everything that's been going on. BUT! I'm back OP 100% and ready to see the numbers on that scale go down.
Dr. Phil is on Letterman tonight. It's usually fun to watch them go at each other, it should be interesting.
later,
~Jen

Thanks Sandy. Britt's loved the compliment.
I am not sure what I would do about the exchange student.
I am a private person. Good luck with your decision.
Congrats on the great loss. Hope y'all relax after the busy schedule. Don't overextend yourself.
Jen,
Great about going right back after a small gain. This will happen.
I am going to start reading the book today. I am going to try the book club too. We will see the weight loss challengers in the house today on Dr. Phil. I love him on Letterman.
