GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today:

EFFORT PAYS

Effort does not cost you. Effort pays. The time and energy you invest in effort are never wasted. Sincere, focused effort always brings something of value.

Sometimes the value you create from your efforts may not be exactly what you were expecting. Sometimes your efforts may not pay off immediately or in an obvious way. Yet positive, productive effort never goes unrewarded. Effort creates value, effort teaches, trains, brings growth and increased strength.

Is there something you've avoided because of the effort involved? By avoiding effort, you're passing up some of the best things that life has to offer.

Go ahead, make the effort. And enjoy the rewards that will surely come.

-- Ralph Marston
*******************

YOU'LL GET THROUGH

When the challenge is in front of you, it looks big and difficult and complicated and forbidding. Yet when that same challenge is behind you, you wonder why you ever hesitated to take it on.

Are there challenges looming on your horizon, challenges that seem insurmountable? They are not nearly so difficult as they may at first appear. In fact, once you get past them they will hardly seem difficult at all. Because in the process of going through them, you'll learn, you'll improve, you'll grow, you'll become stronger.

In the process of meeting the challenges that are now in front of you, you'll take yourself to a higher level of performance. You'll take yourself to a higher level of wisdom, strength, and effectiveness.

Imagine yourself there now, already past the challenges, stronger and more experienced as a result. You will have achieved something of value and, perhaps more importantly, put yourself in a position to take on even greater, even more rewarding challenges.

So jump in right now and begin to work your way through the challenges that confront you. You know you'll get through them, to discover great new value on the other side

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES:

As usual we continue with to TRY AND GET IN AT LEAST 64 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY and TRY TO GET IN AT LEAST 3 DAYS WORTH OF EXERCISE and post it on the exercise board.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE:

Take at least one day out this week and list where your fiber for the day come from. You can list just the foods, but if you know the grams of fiber, that would be great too. Do you get enough fiber?

Now, I have a
NEW CHALLENGE FOR THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER This challenge is optional, as everything on this board is, but I hope you will all take the month out and try to do this.

In the past I've wanted to do a STORY BOARD. A more in-depth of each persons individual struggles with their weight and the story behind how they came to where they are now and how they came to go on SB. I know many people ask me about my history and thought having a STORY BOARD would be a good idea.

So, here's your challenge, take the month and write about your struggles, triumphs, highs, lows, etc. in regards to your weight. Try to give it a nifty title if you can (if you need help coming up with one, just ask) and give the reason why you chose that particular title. A good word to use is WEIGHT. I will post a new board just for this challenge on the SB INFORMATION BOARDS, or do you think we should keep it here on the weekly board area? I hope you will all join me in it. If you have any questions at all, just ask. Don't think it's a good idea - tell me!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

This was posted on one of our other boards and I wanted to copy it and post it here so we could all reply to it:

ALI G

1st: Hello Everyone, I am new here to your boards, so HI and I look forward to reading your posts about SB WOE/WOL.

I have to say that I started SB in 1998. In 6 months time I lost over 50lbs. I kept it off for about a year and felt wonderful and looked better than I ever had in my life. Without boring you w/the details, I'll just say due to health related issues, I began to gain some of the weight back and after a while got really depressed about it and just gave up. Fell right off the SB Wagon.
I regret it terribly, but I have made a commitment to myself to get back to feeling great. It's a slow process, but it DOES work. Once you get used to it and if you have support (like I'm hoping to get here) the reward is awesome!

WOW! I see y'all are taking advantage of the Labor Day holiday and sleeping in. Geez, to think I could of waited til after 9am to start the board!;)

I was up early, my body gets use to school time and I can never sleep in, so got the board up and running then me out and walking and got in my 4.5 miles. I absolutely LOVE when the first of a month falls on a Monday - it's a new week and a new month! I feel so good! I stayed OP 100% all last week, not a slip up at all and I'm very pleased. I always say how much better I feel when I stay OP and wish I could remember how crappy I feel when I don't, but I figured it like this, it's like having a baby. It's painful, but we go through it in knowing this and after it's done, we forget about the pain and in my case, do it again-ditto with going off plan. When we do, we feel crappy but we seem to forget it and repeat doing it again.

Watched THE MAN FROM ELAYSIAN FIELDS last night- thought it was pretty good. Have a few movies still out from the library that I'm going to try and watch at least one of today. Other than that, not much else going on down here, kids are still asleep and ELI is at work already.

On for a couple replies now...

GARDEN, try to see if your local library has MONTIGNAC'S book as it's OOP and hard to find, but you could try Ebay or Half.com for a used copy. I just checked Ebay and there isn't one and the last one sold for $12.50, half has one but it's almost $20, so do try to find it at the library, or even a used book store. You're right, the oatmeal is one of those contradictory and confusing things I mention, among others. Rolled oats are the ones you want. You can eat regular cheese, but if you can find a lower fat version, that's a better choice. Same goes with milk, if you like skim, as I do, use it, if not, try to go for the lower fat choices. I do think you should try to give it at least a month to try. Two weeks isn't enough as your body needs to get use to this new WOE, esp. the detoxing over the first few days. I think a good solid month is fair-you can't go wrong.
Got your e-mail and will e-mail you today with the numbers:)

ALI, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Glad you've decided to jump in and join us. You did great when you were doing SB and as you well know, this is a great WOE to follow. I can totally relate to your weight loss and how wonderful you felt and looked, it was the same with me and I too gained some of the weight back, though not due to health issues but to stress eating. Many of us have fallen off the wagon but luckily, we found the wagon again and jumped back on. I too have recommited to get off the pounds I've gained. It's a never ending battle, one that is rarely won. I always give my analogy as such-I think of this weight issue as a war and even though I may have won the war, the troops (weight gain, fat) that were overthrown can regroup at any time and wage war once again. It's more to me like a truce than a battle won I think. The wonderful thing about this board and the women and now, brave man that are on it is that we all understand where you've been and what you're dealing with. We learn from each others experiences and we are here for each other - support and friendship are yours without even having to ask:) You've done it before and you know you can do it again:D

Seems it's getting really dark outside and I hear the thunder. Glad I got in my walk when I did!

Will check the board later - hopefully the kids won't hog it, but I have a feeling I may not get on til later than I'd like.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

;) Hi All,

Boy the board is slow! Going for a walk in just a minute but wanted to say hi. DD now has the virus. I'm the only hold out in the family. Usually, I'm the first to get sick so I am just waiting for the shoe to drop. I've been using Zicam hoping I won't catch anything. Well I had weigh in for Weight Watchers today and I was 168. Just 2 more pounds and I will have lost 30 since I restarted. Have to do laundry and clean today. I've put it off all weekend so now I will pay.

Ali: Welcome. I had lost 90lbs on SB and like you let life get to me and put back on 60lbs. I've restarted so now I am back down 54. We can get back down together. I am combining WW and SB this time so I have more portion control.

Dave: Way to go on your staying OP on your trip to Europe. Like you when I went on vacation, I made sure I took long walks and ate somewhat OP and still lost. By the way DS's bday is on the 9th too.

Fillise: Happy BDAY...I know you are very busy with the referendum...

Well, I'll check back later when hopefully the board is a little more active

Got my walk in with my DH. Went 2 miles at my usual pace. Boy, is it hot and muggy. Looks like we will get rain sometime today, probably this afternoon.

Re. the fiber, I get mine with fruits and veggies. I normally have 2-3 fruits per day and several veggies. I also eat 1-2 slices of WW bread. This morning I had 3 T. of raw oats in my pancakes (egg, cottage cheese and oats) so probably will keep the bread to one slice. I'm upping the carnitine to see if that makes any difference.

All 21 chrysalides are hanging like Christmas ornaments on the branches in the butterfly cage. I cleaned up all the caterpillar "poop" with my vacuum, being very careful not to suck any chrysalides up the hose! :^: It's all clean and ready to receive some butterflies. Here's a picture of the chrysalis of a zebra longwing butterfly. Neat, huh? Notice the gold dot on the "abdomen." It looks like a little brown devil hanging upside down. The pink paper loop is there because the little critter pupated on the branch of parsley that will not last the 2 weeks he will be there. So, I glued the loop at the end, right where he is attached, and will cut away the parsley and hang the chrysalis from a branch in the cage.

Well, I'm gonna work on my French today. I need 3 day weekends every week just to keep up with everything.

Good afternoon everyone. Hope you're having a good week-end. We've just kind of been lazy. My DH and I made buckwheat waffles yesterday on an old fashioned waffle iron you use on top of the stove. They came out really good and I had enough left over to freeze.

Debelli- You've been busy as a bee this morning. With a great movtivation and a big challagne. Plus you got out and walked to boot.... Way to go girl!!!

Ali G- Welcome to our board. Come join us cause we all know what you're talking about. I'm back after gaining lots of weight back. We can do this. We're all cheering for you.....

CountryMom- Its a new day new month. Its a great time to regroup....

beachfan-Congrads on the good weigh in. Hope you don't get the virus...

Gatorgal- Good walk!!! Its been raining here off and on and making it really muggy....Your butterflys sound so wonderful to watch....

I guess everyone is off playing..... Guess I'll go do the same.....

I got in from work a little while ago. The first thing I did was drink two glasses of water, then change into my swim suit and take a dip in the pool. I am dried off now, and waiting for lunch. Tom is fixing steaks, steamed cauliflower, and shrimp. I am vegging while he cooks.

Work was not too bad today. The full time decorator called in sick, so I had to do all the special orders. There were not that many, and it was kind of fun. I am really slow at it though! There were a good number of customers, so I guess I was not too slow. :)

I am going to toddle off and have some lunch. Will check in later!

OMG- I was quite the porker:ink: yesterday! Friday and Saturday I was OP and doing good, then came Sunday. I ate everything and anything! I literally ate for hours. I sat around yesterday afternoon and watched movies and stuffed my face with all kinds of no-no :nono: foods. I'm too scared to get on the scale today. I know it's up several pounds. And I'm puffy, too. Well, I'm not going to let it get me down. It's a new day and new week. Yesterday, I went to church. I wasn't going to go because I didn't have anything to wear- spare me the lecture. I used to have all kinds of dress clothes, but that's also when I was alot bigger. So now all I have is shorts, capris, t-shirts. I did find a denim skirt and wore that with a white shirt. I went to where my kids attend Sunday School. It was my first time going. The church had a big congregation. And I was underdressed. Oh, well. I liked the pastor's sermon, but I found myself feeling uncomfortable. I think alot had to do with the fact that only 2 people(besides the lady that picks the kids up for SS) came up to me and said they were glad I was here, etc. I'll probably go again before I make up my mind if I want to attend regularly or not. Anyway, not much going on. I don't have any energy today- I know it's the effects of the sugar binge I went on yesterday.

HiedieHo All!

Well, are all you laborer's taking the day off? I'm not a laborere so I went to nursing home this a.m. I alaways glad when I go on a holdiay as there is nothing doing in the home, even the reception area is closed. Gigi forgot to tell anyone I was coming so both staff and residents were surprised to see me.

I enjoyed the new task at the theater. I was briefed on the computer, then they gave me the charge card machine. I took credit cards all night, then after the play started I helped set up the seating plan for last night. After about an hour the lady in charge said she forgot, did I want to see the play. Of course, I did, but I was also there to help and that comes first. She said whenever I wanted to see the play she wouold give me a comp ticket.

Yesterday was a bad day and I was really aching and played hookey from church...naughty Christian! Really did nothing constructive all day. I did decide on the pattern for next afghan and started another Xst project. This is the Serenity Prayer for a friend that is going through some tough times. Now that I've started it I wonder if Footsteps in the Sand might be more appropriate.

When I'm done with this think I will balance checkbook and pay bills, always a fun was to spend the fternoon!

SUPER: Welcome! You're slightly outnumbered here, but we like the male perspective. Isn't it wonderful? Raise your kids, hope they live in exotic places and then visit them. I did the same thing my Ds and family lived overseas 15 years. You are doing great with your loss.

PIXIE: Welcome! Sounds like you are doing great. You will shock your doctor.

GARDEN: Welcome.

DEB: Cornball!

ALI: Welcome! There a few of here that have done the same thing, I for one, fallen off and have come back. It is so discouraging to think that we were so successful and now have to do it again! But here there are wonderful people who do not criticize, just help you with their support to get back in the act. I don't know where I would be if not for them. So let's do it together.

BEACH: Hope you keep well. Hard to do when all around yoou are sick!

Well, I hear those bills calling so guess I'll get busy.

MM: People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed outwardly or inwardly. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrong doing on your part or an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy.

Believe it! It is real! But...only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Take care, Shirley

Since this is a patriotic holiday maybe this is appropriate.Let Freedom ring...for all of us...

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe and tried to light it?_ His trial is over.

How much of this Judge's comments did you hear on TV? Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.

Ruling by Judge William Young

U.S. District Court Judge William Young made the following statement in sentencing "shoe bomber" Richard Reid to prison. It is noteworthy, and deserves to be remembered far longer than he predicts. I commend it to you and to anyone you might wish to forward it to.

January 30, 2003 United States vs. Reid._ Judge William Young:
Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence the Court imposes upon you.

On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody of the United States Attorney General.

On counts 2, 3, 4 and 7, the Court sentences you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutive with the other. That's 80 years.

On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years consecutive to the 80 years just imposed. The Court imposes upon you each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 for the aggregate fine of $2 million.

The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and orders restitution in the amount of_ $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American Airlines.

The Court imposes upon you the $800 special assessment.

The Court imposes upon you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.

This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence. Let me explain this to you.

We are not afraid of any of your terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been through the fire before. There is all too much war talk here. And I say that to everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court , where we deal with individuals as individuals, and care for individuals as individuals, as human beings we reach out for justice, you are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist. You are not a soldier in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call you a soldier gives you far too much stature. Whether it is the officers of government who do it or your attorney who does it, or that happens to be your view, you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do not treat with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists. We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice. So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But you are not that big. You're no warrior. I know warriors. You are a terrorist. A species of criminal guilty of multiple attempted murders.

In a very real sense Trooper Santigo had it right when you first were taken off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews were and he said "you're no big deal." You are no big deal.

What your counsel, what your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have grappled with and what I have, as honestly as I know how, tried to grapple with, is why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom today? I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing. And I have an answer for you. It may not satisfy you. But as I search this entire record it comes as close to understanding as I know.

It seems to me you hate the one thing that is most precious. You hate our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually choose.

Here, in this society, the very winds carry freedom. They carry it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom. So that everyone can see, truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely. It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf and have filed appeals, will go on in their, their representation of you before other judges. We are about it. Because we all know that the way we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden, pay any price, to preserve our freedoms.

Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world is not going to long remember what you or I say here. Day after tomorrow it will be forgotten. But this, however, will long endure. Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America, the American people will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual justice is in fact being done.

The very President of the United States through his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific matters can be judged, and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice.

See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America. That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands for freedom. You know it always will.

Custody Mr. Officer. Stand him down.

How much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets?

Hello everyone!

I am new to SB, recently making the change from Atkins. I can tell you that just in a few days I can see the difference in the freedom I feel. Atkins seems so restrictive compared to SB. Of course, guess I will have to wait to see how I do as far as weight loss to see just how well this all works out. It does feel better to my psyche because it just seems so much better balanced.

Sef- I wanted to thank you for posting that article about the shoe bomber. You're right, I haven't heard anything about it at all.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Lunch was delish! I think what made it taste so great was someone else fixed it! The cauliflower was especially good. My kids always called it brain. You steam the cauliflower whole, and then spread over it a Tablespoon of mayo mixed with a teaspoon of minced onion, and a 1/2 teaspoon of dry mustard. Lay slices of cheese over the top and steam a minute longer, until the cheese gets soft and melty. Slice it into wedges to serve.

Off again, to try and get something done around here. I heard from Fillise...We are hoping to work out a get together with Bob, Fillise and myself this week while BOB is in the Atlanta area. Hope we can pull it off!

Evening All:wave:

WOW! Board is REALLY slow today - everyone must be having a good time with their families - totally understandable, days like this are far and few between for a weekday!

I didn't do anything more than go to the grocery store - lounged all day long and watch 2 movies, neither were that great. Have 3 more that I need to watch before they are due back to the library.

Just going to post some replies:

COUNTRY - did you find your mind? Get in that walk?

BEACH, what great news to hear that you are close to the 30lb mark. You're really doing great. Do you notice any differences between losing it the first time and this time? I can't remember if you mentioned it, but what were those changes you mentioned was going to occur with WW - did you find out? Anything major? Hope you don't get sick, that's all you need!

GATOR, that def. looks like an upside-down bat! If you ever come south you'd probably love to visit BUTTERFLY WORLD. Really neat between the butterflies and the few hummingbirds they have flying all around you.

TONI, the waffles sound delish. I have a waffle iron but it's never seen the light of day - like half the things I have in my kitchen:rolleyes:

MONET, that would be wonderful if the 3 of you could get together - keep us abreast of the details. Cameras are a def. MUST!!!

HEART, so what set you off yesterday? I'm sure once they see you around church a bit more they'll all be coming up to say hello:)

SEF, thanks for the MM AND for the thing about the bomber-I too hadn't heard it and it was interesting to read:)

MIKA, did you get to see the replies on the other board to you questions? There's so many on the board that have switched from Atkins to SB with wonderful results which I'm sure they'll share with you. Don't fret if you seem to go up on the scale a little, it happens to some due to the carbs being re-introduced. If you have any questions, please, feel free to ask!

Okay, I'm outta here for now - will check in this evening if the 'puter is free!

Hello everyone-- It has been a couple of days since I have been here. We had to take my Grandmother back into the hospital on Saturday. She was having alot of pain, but thought it was because they increased the weight they were using at her therapy. But no.......first off, one of the pins that they put in her leg is pushing into the joint, so she gets pain when she moves her leg......secondly, she has a blood clot that goes from her hip to her knee!! I am just so glad that we decided to get her in there. She thought about trying to tough it out until Tuesday. So they will have to go in and take out the pin, but I don't know if they have decided to deal with the clot first, or what. Will know more this afternoon. Her surgeon is gone right now, and his partner really doesn't want to make the decision. So after all this, she will be back at square one again.

We are going to head out tomorrow and go back to the lake. We are taking my Mom. She has been taking care of Grandma, and while she is in the hospital, we are pretty much making her take a couple of days off. There is nothing she can do for her right now anyway. My Aunt's pretty much told her to go FISHING!! So off we go.......

We cut up 30 pounds of cabbage yesterday to make sauerkraut. (That was only 3 heads of cabbage!!) We want to see how it will turn out. If we like it, we will do all of them next year. We planted 9 heads, and they all got huge. Today I have been trying to use up Zucchini. Made 4 loaves of Zucchini Bread to freeze. The last time I made it, it was kind of dry, so I added 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce this time. Hope it is better. It sure smelled good when it came out of the oven!

ALI G-- WELCOME TO SUGAR BUSTER'S!! The support you will receive here is wonderful. There are some very special people here to make your weight loss journey very enjoyable. Hope to see lots of post from you, and again, welcome.

Deb-- Sounds like you had a great week. WTG!! You seem to have everything in control again. Good for you!!

Country-- (((HUGS))) Hang in there. We all trip and falls some days, just move on and try to learn from it.

Beach-- WTG girl. You are looooking gooood!!

Fillise-- Happy Birthday--hope all your dreams come true!!

Gator-- I sure wish we would get some rain here. We are burning up with wild fires everywhere. Lightening even started some right here in our little neck of the woods, but Thank God the Firemen were right on the ball. These guys are such true heroes!!

Toni-- Hey, we had Buckwheat pancakes yesterday!! I don't have a waffle iron, boo hoo!! But the cakes were yummy.

Monet-- Enjoy your lunch.....sounds yummy! So does the dip in the pool. Another scorcher here today.

Heart-- Hang in there kiddo. I have been feeling hungrier this week too, but I think it is due to TOM. Mine are so erratic lately that I never know when it will show up or for how long it will hang around!! My youngest is 23, I wish I could have gotten a shot thirteen years ago to stop it. LOL!!

Sef--I love to watch plays.....haven't done it in a long time, but I sure did enjoy getting together with friends and going. How often are you going to be helping out. Sounds like fun to me. Just to let you know we cut up 30 pounds of cabbage yesterday for sauerkraut. If we like it this year, we will do more next year. Thanks again for sharing your recipe. We decided to try putting it all in a crock to ferment for 5 to 6 weeks, then we will process it.

Mika-- WELCOME TO SUGAR BUSTER'S!! This is a great place to be. Very supportive, and great advice too. Hope to see lots of you!!

Well gang, probably won't be back until Wednesday night. Hope you all have a great week!!

Hi Everyone!!!

So sorry to have been AWOL the past couple of weeks. Besides being very busy, I have also not been feeling so swell. Trying to figure out this ibs and my new medicine and what things tend to make it flare up. One thing I've done is to totally eliminate Splenda. I read an article that said that digestive woes is one thing that many people are complaining about with it. I haven't had any for almost a week and I haven't had the serious stomach pains. But also I've been taking the medicine too. So who knows.

So sorry that I can't get to everyone. I just wanted to check in and say "hey!" I hope you all have a great week. And that we all do well on WIW. Last week I had gained a little at WW. I think it was 1.2 I had gained. But when I went to the doctor's on Thursday, she said I had lost 5 pounds in the past month. So that's pretty cool.

Later,
Kim

 Hi All

Boy I'm tired. Cleaned house all day and did laundry. Still have 2 loads to go or we won't be ready for school/work tomorrow... Having a family means a never ending job. Paid bills too
There never is enough money but I've just learned not to let it get to me. I had a wise professor tell me I would always spend everything I made. Our wants just get larger as the income goes up. What I've learned is 2 teenagers WANTS are what get bigger. I cooked a yummy meal. Pork chops, baked beans, carrots, squash and biscuits. I did have a biscuit...every once in awhile I do have a treat. I figure at night it can't affect my hunger...and I was right. No blood sugar problems as a result.

:angel:Heart. Hang in there with the church. I'm Catholic and I don't know where you went but I've been going to the same church for over 20 years and I'm rarely approached. Went to my niece's baptism last week at the Methodist church and no one spoke. The minister asked people to approach him and have a conversation. If you are like me, I always hesitate to do that. BUT, a wise person once told me...go for God and the service...not the social. I promise, God thought you were beautiful and enjoyed having you there! When you are more comfortable, join one of the Sunday School classes/Bible Studies. That's where you'll meet people.

Debbie: Weight Watchers as you know is on a point system. I use to have a range to eat in between 20-25. I would earn points for excercising and could bank any points I didn't eat to eat later. Now we are given a point target 22 for me. Plus we get 35 points to eat however we want each week. The excercise points are earned only for that day and can't be used except for that day. Previously, most people would try and eat low on their target points in order to have points saved up for special occassions. Now you already have the points at the beginning of the week to use however you like. Do I like it? Not sure. Before, I kind of felt like I earned my days that I could splurge. Now I sometimes feel guilty for eating the points I'm allowed. Today I ate 28 points, 6 over my target. But I excercised and earned 4 points so I only used 2 of the 35 flex points. I still felt like I cheated because I went over when in fact I am allowed to do that. We'll see. It's just a mind set that has to be changed. Some people have eaten all of there target points and 35 flex points in one day. I can't imagine doing that for fear I would never stop eating again...

Well have to run...take care all.

Just a quickie to let all know that I had a small taste of the Zucchini Bread. AND IT IS AWESOME. Adding the NSA applesauce did the trick!! It is really moist this time.

If anyone is interested here is the recipe.

Zucchini Bread

3 eggs
2 c sugar (I used 2 tsp stevia liquid, and 12 packages splenda)
2 c shredded zucchini
1 c oil
3 c WW flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 c chopped nuts
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c NSA applesauce

Beat eggs, sugar, and oil. Add remaining ingredients, and mix well. Divide into 2 loaf pans and bake at 350* for 1 hour.

Does anyone know what could be substituted for all, or some of the oil? Not sure if anything would work.

BOB-- Aren't those veggies just the best?? We are in heaven right now eating out of our garden. I eat tomatoes, cukes, and squash everyday now. You would think I would get tired of it, but I don't!! Dread the thought of having to buy veggies this winter.

Quilter-- I do know some others that have the IBS, and yes, the Splenda was a trigger. Hope you can find all of yours. I have heard it can be very miserable.

Beach-- I do know that feeling......I commented to my son today that a woman's work is NEVER done!! I worked my patootie off today getting everything ready to go to the lake, laundry, baking, cooking. I bet I washed dishes 6 times today, and I have a dishwasher!! These were all baking dishes. Also playing pooper scooper so ds would mow the lawn while we are gone. And taking care of the pups and the kitten. Whew...I am worn out!! You probably are too!!

Well gang, have a great couple of days and will see you when we get back. Then we will start canning fish!! This stuff makes the best tuna salad.....even though it is trout!! Hehe......Sweet dreams all.......

Hey Gang!

I know it’s been a while since I’ve dropped in.

Welcome to all the new people who have joined in here. I’ve been popping in and out for the past couple years and this is a very friendly, supportive group.

I’ve been really bad over the past month or more—probably more like the whole summer. It seems that every day I was having more of the poison “white” stuff and sugar. I was getting back to drinking one can of pop a day (for me that’s a lot). My body is feeling gross and I’ve gained a few pounds. I’m actually heavier than when I started on this board a couple of years ago. My exercise was pretty much non-existant, except if you count walking around the zoo, or parks. LOL!

I got my act together and have planned my eating for the next couple of weeks and will be working on the two weeks after that today or tomorrow. I NEVER plan my meals. But I think it will also be less stressful than trying to figure out what’s for dinner an hour before I want serve it.

I have actually decided to follow the SOUTH BEACH diet plan. To me it seems like SUGARBUSTERS (that’s why I’m still writing on this forum) with a twist on ATKINS at the beginning. The first 2 weeks of this plan is pretty restricted—no bad starchy carbs like bread, rice, flour etc and no fruit. This phase is to rid your body of sugar. I started day one yesterday and actually had a bit of a headache all day. I know I was eating a lot of bad stuff, so I guess I have to suffer a bit of withdrawal. I really need the restrictive phase to get all the crap out of this body.

I’ve also got my exercise time set aside. I know I can do it at least 5 days a week with no problem. DS is in school full time this year, so I plan on doing the Power 90 program for exercise as soon as I get home from taking him to school each day.

Oh dear. I have to go. Just got a call that my uncle passed away early this morning. This next couple of days will be a test of how well I can keep to my plan.

Take care all!

Good morning everyone. I'm glad the holiday is over and its back to normal. Boy have we had lots of rain. Yippee.... We needed it so bad. Had a fresh ham slice (unsmoked) last night for dinner. Put Atkins barbeque sauce on it and baked it in the oven. Made some fried cabbage with it and leftover green beans. Boy was that tough!!! The meat was like eating boot leather. LOL.... Think I won't be cooking one of those for a long time. We had a nice laid back week-end.

Monet- Now that sounds like my kind of day. Out there by the pool while DH cooked for me..... Hope you got lots of nice rest...

heartmom- I would have felt uncomfortable at the church to if only a couple of people came up. Boy I'd have a heck of a time finding something to wear too. I gave all my really nice big clothes away and am at the in between stage. Hope you got back on the wagon....

Sef-Loved your message . It really made me stop and think. Hope you got those bills paid and had some money left over. I usually don't, LOL....

mika- Welcome to SB. This is really a great way to eat. You can really make a life style out of it...

Debilli- Sounds like you made a day of the movies...

Teensybean- I'm so sorry about your Grandmother I hope they get her fixed soon and she is back home. Yea for you kidnapping your Mom so she can have a little R&R... Lucky you getting to make sauerkraut. I'd love to try some zucchini bread for the freezer too... Your recipe sounds great...

Orange Babe- Sounds like you had a happy shopping day.... Wow I love new bras...

The Quilter- So sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hope you're in the pink soon. Miss you posting...

beachfan- Know what you mean about never being enough money..... I paid bills yesterday and thought I was alright till I remembered I forgot one.... Dang!!

Zanne- It was so good to see you posting. I'm so sorry about your Uncle. Hope you come back soon!!!

Well think I'll go lay on the couch for a bit. Its still raining and early....... Will pop back on later....

It's so nice to be back on the board again.

It was such a yucky, rainy weekend I was longing to have a computer to check on the board.

Had a great weekend as far as eating goes. I was 95% OP. Did have 3 drinks Sunday at a party, but that was all. So I was pleased with myself.

Don't know if this counts as exercise, but I scrubbed the 2 bathroom floors on my knees with a scrub brush and toothbrush. Yesterday cut grass and pulled weeds for an hour. Lots of bending.

Saturday, we got up and walked up to Meijers and bought a yougurt and peach for breakfast and then walked home.

It has been raining here since Friday and is to continue through tomorrow. I'm pretty sick of it.

Yesterday, I felt yucky all day. Don't know if it was the fumes from the cleaning product I used on the floors or what. Had a headache and just felt blah all day. Plus the pulled muscle in my rear end is killing me. Got to get a shot for that hopefully today. I can't stand to sit on the potty even. TOM is due today so that is probably contributing to my yucks too.

Ali G, Welcome back to SB and our board. This is a great place and we will help you shed those regained pounds. You are in a place we all hope we will never be, regaining lost lbs. But it happens so quickly. I guess we just need to nevver let our guard down. You did so well that I'm sure you will have no trouble getting rid of those lbs quickly. Hope you decide to join our group.

Deb, I like your analogy with wt and having a baby. Gosh I would have a couple dozen kids by now. :yikes: Glad to seeyou are haning in there with your walking.

Country, Hope you found your way back on track and are still with us today. Made your meatloaf last night. DH and DD loved it. Only problem, it fell apart.

Beachfan, sure hope you don't get sick. I hate the anticipation of when and will I get it. Congrats on getting close to the 30 lb mark. You rock!

Gator, I thought it looked like an upside down reindeer. I like these tree day weekends too.

Heartmom, put Sunday behind you and get going. You can do it.

Sef, thanks for the judges verdict. I didn't hear any of it. Glad he had a judge that was smart and sensible. Sometimes I just don't understand how they let these people get off so easily.

Mika, welcome to our group. This is a great board for support and friendship. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Monet, that cauliflower sounds delish. Glad you enjoyed your lunch. Hope you get to meet up with Bob and Fillise.

Teensy, hope your GM does ok. That is a shame she has to start all over. She was doing so well too. Hope yur DM gets some needed relaxation.

Kim, glad to hear from you. I hoep eliminating the splenda helps you. Join us when you can.

Zanne, Glad you dropped in. Good luck on the SB diet. Let us know how it works for you. Sorry to hear about your uncle. Planning is important. That's the only way I can know what to eat for each meal. I always start with dinner and work backwards. I plan a whole weeks worth at once.

Toni, are you as water soaked as we are? It's been raining here since Friday. :rain:

Have a great day. Hope to be back later.

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

Got in my walk this morning, did the old usual and standard for me of 4.5 miles - feelin' good!:D

Here's where my fiber came from yesterday:

4.9oz rapsberries 9.5 grams
4oz apple 3 grams
pot pie 3 grams
1 tsp carob 1.5 grams
SB legal cookie 4 grams
5.6oz prickly pear 5.5 grams
5oz broccoli 4 grams
2 wasa-type crackers 4 grams

TOTAL FIBER 34.5 grams!

Heard from DAVESGIRL (BETH) and she told me to tell everyone hello and that she fell off the wagon but was back on last week. She's still having computer trouble but hopes to get it resolved soon and get back on the board soon as well.

Nothing exciting to tell y'all so will hop right in to replies...

TEENSY, I am SO sorry to hear what's transpired with yout GM! That's terrible that she has to endure another surgery to take care of the pin and now, have the added problem of a blood clot that seems to sound very big to s layman. Thank goodness you didn't wait, you made the right call for sure. Please let us know what the Dr. says. Enjoy your time with your DM at the lake - she surely deserves some R&R! Darn girl, you grow some big cabbages in your parts!!! The ZUCCHINI RECIPE, for a sub for oil, you're already using the apple sauce, which is what I would use in place of some of the oil. In the recipe I have on the board, sometimes I put half the oil it calls for and use apple sauce for the other half and it's still good. I think it's very similiar to my recipe, so I'm sure it's good:)

BOB, darn, I forgot about BB - what happened that I missed? Sounds like you are enjoying yourself and surely the SC economy has picked up since your arrival I hear;) How's POOPCASO behaving? Is KATE having a good time. Sounds like you're eating enough veggies for the both of us - I like that idea:)
Hope you, MONET & FILLISE can get together!!!

QUILTER, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well:( I'm glad to hear you've cut out Splenda - don't like that stuff at all! Wonderful news at the Dr's office - I'm sure the WW was totally off!!!!!!!!!

BEACH, and to think you were suppose to have a day off from laboring yesterday - it sounds like you worked harder at home than if you went to work! Hey, have you ever tried any of the biscuit recipes from the board, maybe you can have your biscuit and eat it too and have it be OP. I made one, long ago and even the kids liked it, which says a lot! Thanks for the explanation of the new WW points, I think I'd probably like the old system better if I were on it, but that's just my opinion.

ZANNE, glad to see your post. You and I could be mirror images of each other at this point. I too gained, didn't exercise, ate terribly and now am back on track. The SOBE DIET is just like you mentioned, 2 weeks Atkins and ease into SB, really not much difference besides that. Sorry to hear about your Uncle - my condolences to you and your family.

TONI, sounds like my cooking with the ham being like shoe leather!

JACKK, I had to laugh when you said you were 95% OP, I do that too and just thought where we come up with our numbers sometimes:) What makes it a 95% day and not a 98%. Sounds like you did great!!! Good job! I stayed 100% OP all last week and will continue to do so - I'm so determined! Hope your butt pain eases up - have DH give it a rub down;)

Well, I'm outta here for now. I have to jump in the shower, pay some bills:mad: and run a few errands - have the day to myself:D

If anyone is interested, CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:15PM EST I don't know if anyone will be in the chat room or not, and gosh knows I will try my darndest to get on there, but as always, the kids and their homework holds presidence over my fun:)

Have a great day!

My TUESDAY TIP relates to this weeks FIBER CHALLENGE and comes from

http://www.gastromd.com/diets/highfiber.html

There's a great list of high fiber foods on the site that may be beneficial for you to at least look at, or print it out.

The following information should help guide you through the process of increasing the amount of fiber in your diet. The treatment of several gastrointestinal conditions is based upon the establishment of increased fiber in your diet. Such conditions are irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis and internal/external hemorrhoids. Some research data also indicates that increasing the amount of fiber in the diet may decrease the incidence of colon cancer. In addition, the American Cancer Society and the U.S. Government both recommend a diet with between 35-39 grams of fiber per day. Such a diet may also improve your cholesterol and help prevent heart disease.

What is fiber?

Fiber is found in plants and is generally not digested or absorbed by the body. Many different types of fibers exist and they are grouped into two broad categories. Each has a role in promoting good health. The two general types are water soluble fibers and insoluble fibers.

Water soluble fibers can aid in the treatment of high cholesterol levels, diabetes and obesity. By forming a gel, water soluble fibers stay in your stomach longer and help slow food absorption.

Water-soluble fibers are found in oats, bran, dried beans, potatoes, seeds, apples, oranges, and grapefruit.

Insoluble fibers hold water to produce softer, bulkier stools. These fibers are found in wheat and corn brans, nuts and many fruits and vegetables. By promoting better regularity, a diet high in insoluble fibers helps relieve constipation and control diverticular disease. People with diverticular disease are encouraged to eat a high fiber diet with a general avoidance of nuts, seeds, hulls and some skins since these can cause acute inflammation of the diverticula resulting in diverticulitis.

Insoluble fibers may also help in preventing colon cancer.

Tips for increasing fiber in your diet

Substitute whole wheat flour for half or all of the flour in home baked goods.

When buying breads, crackers, and breakfast cereals, make sure the first ingredient listed is whole wheat flour or another whole grain.

Use brown rice, whole grain barley, bulgur (cracked wheat), buckwheat, groats (kasha) and millet in soups and salads or as cereals and side dishes.

Try a variety of whole wheat pastas in place of regular pasta.

Sprinkle bran in spaghetti sauce, sloppy joes, ground meat
mixtures and casseroles, pancakes, and other quick breads and in cooked cereals and fruit crisp toppings.

Eat skins and edible seeds of raw fruits and vegetables.

For high fiber snacks, eat fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grain crackers or popcorn.

For lunches, pick crunchy vegetables stuffed in whole wheat pita bread, salads and hearty vegetable and bean soups.

For dessert bake berry pies, apples stuffed with prunes, dates, and raisins; fruit compotes; whole wheat fruit breads, brown rice or whole wheat bread puddings; and whole wheat cakes and cookies.

Try Middle Eastern, Oriental and Mexican dishes that make liberal use of vegetables, whole grains and dried beans.

Use whole grain or bran cereals for crunchy toppings on ice cream, yogurt, salads or casseroles. Nuts, toasted soybeans, sunflower kernels, and wheat germ also can add interesting flavors and increase the fiber content of you meal.

Many vegetarian and high fiber cookbooks contain excellent high fiber recipes.

Notes that many fiber values listed on labels, cookbooks and other reference materials use crude fiber values which are now outdated. Therefore, it is recommended that you use the dietary fiber values listed on the following pages when planning your meal menus.

Fiber and Weight Loss

High fiber foods offer a plus for dieters. Many high fiber foods are naturally bulkier and more filling than refined foods, you tend to eat less calories on high fiber diets.

Avoiding Problems with Increasing Fiber

When increasing your dietary fiber, remember to include a variety of soluble and insoluble fiber food sources including whole grain breads and cereal, fruits and vegetables. While increasing your dietary fiber you should also drink at least 8 cups of fluid every day. Remember that water, milk, juice and decaffeinated sodas, teas and coffee are also sources of fluid.

People who typically eat low fiber diets may experience increased flatulence (gas from below), bloating and occasionally diarrhea when they begin to eat large amounts of fiber all at once. To prevent these discomforts, the amount of fiber in your diet should be gradually increased.

The amount of fiber in your present diet can be estimated by with the charts below. Estimate your present fiber intake and increase you weekly fiber intake by 2-4 grams. Thus, if in Week 1, you have a base fiber content of 20 grams/ day you would try to increase the amount of fiber to 22-24 grams/day for the first week. Then, in Week 2, the total fiber would be 24-28 grams/day. The exact amount of fiber added per day will be an individually determined amount. This should be based upon the amount of flatus and bloating you experience with the dietary changes. If there is too much gas and bloating, then decrease the amount of fiber.

Remember, the overall goal is to increase the fiber in your diet gradually and maintain this over a lifetime.

Fiber Supplements

Commercial fiber supplements are available ranging from bran tablets to purified cellulose (an insoluble fiber). Many laxatives sold as stool softeners are actually fiber supplements. Since different types of fibers work in different ways, no one-fiber supplement provides all of fibers potential benefits. Persons unable to change their diets might benefit from fiber supplements as suggested.

However, it is more beneficial to increase the amount of dietary fiber by eating a variety of high fiber foods sources.

Good Tuesday morning:

I have been laying in bed since 5 a.m. with my back "killing" me, so decided to get up. I injured my back about 13-14 years ago. I went to a nightclub with friends where they had peanut shells all over the floor. I slipped on one and landed (my lower back) on a concrete step. When I woke up later that night, I fell down and couldn't get back up. It now bothers me from time to time, and I must have done something yesterday to throw it out of whack.

Tonight is back to school night; we have to be at the school at 7:00 for some presentation and then back to the classroom to go over the curriculum for the year. Today I have a doctor's appt. while DD is in school and hope to get some pants hemmed.

I skimmed over some of the post from last week, but didn't take notes. To all the newbies, WELCOME.....we are glad to have you here.

Ali G: Good luck getting back OP & staying OP. We'll be here for any questions/support you have/need.

Deb: So glad you stayed OP all week; it does feel awesome!

beach: Great diet with all the fruits & veggies you are getting in.

Mika: Welcome! I was also on Atkins and I can tell you that I love SB. I was on Atkins for 2 months and lost 10-12 "touchy" pounds. I couldn't deviate from plan a little tiny bit without gaining 5 pounds. I love the freedom on SB, and have done better on it than I did on Atkins. I started SB the beginning of May and have reached below my goal weight. I was 152# when I started Atkins (so around 142# when started SB). I am now 124#, as of this morning. That's 28# in about 5 months; I've maintained for the past month or so. Some people, including myself, even do a little better with a few more starchy carbs (that would have never worked on Atkins due to all the fat intake). Anyway, that is my little story, and I hope you are as happy here as I have been.

Teensy: I sure hope your GM is feeling better soon; so sorry to hear of the problems she is having. I hope you had fun fishing; I am so envious. I would love to be able to fish more.

Quilter: That is interesting info. about Splenda; it doesn't seem to affect me that way, but I have heard that it has done that to others. I hope you are able to get the ibs under control.

Zanne: As I've heard many times: If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Having a dinner schedule is an awesome idea; it's the most hectic part of the day, and if you can get that down pat, you've got it made. You've even scheduled in your exercise; sounds like you are on the right track. Remember that we are here, even when you are not doing well OP; we're here for support, no matter what. I have heard/read some interesting info. on soda lately.....It should be no surprise with the amount of sugar in it, but...anyway, one can of soda can suppress your immune system for up to 5-6 hours and make you more susceptible to getting ill. I used to drink my one Dr. Pepper a day and thought that would be the toughest thing to give up, but it wasn't too bad. So sorry to hear about you Uncle.

Country, Toni, Monet, heart, Sef, Jack: HELLO!!

I've been thinking of something that I can do when my youngest DD starts school that would be part-time and allow me to be there for school functions and to be home with them when they are home. I think I might look into getting certified as a personal trainer. I got a compliment from a member at the gym the other day; she commented to her personal trainer that she would like to look like me. It made me feel really great! I think I would have a lot to offer, and would have the next few years to get some training/certification under my belt. I would be able to set my owen schedule, and they charge anywhere from $30-$50 for an hour session. I could make some decent cash and set my own schedule. I think I will seriously look into it.

Well, better get going. My oldest is eating her breakfast, and my youngest is waking up.

Have a great day, and I hope everyone does well for WIW tomorrow.

I hope to list my fiber sources throughout the day to post later.

In light of the talk last week about the ten commandments in Ala., I thought this said a lot about today's world. Hope it doesn't offend anyone.

>
> Now I sit me down in school
> Where praying is against the rule
> For this great nation under God
> Finds mention of Him very odd.
> If Scripture now the class recites,
> It violates the Bill of Rights.

Just waiting for my pot pie to finish cooking, just another 15 minutes til YUM-YUM time;)

Posted a few new recipes on the recipe boards this morning.

Thought I'd get caught up with the few posts that are on the board...

BOB, geez, we could of called each other during the wee hours of the morning. I woke up around 1ish because it was storming and then I've been waking up at 4am in recent days. This has happened before and I just hope it goes away because it's hard for me to get back to bed, the mind starts wondering...glad to know I didn't miss BB, I was watching FOR LOVE OR MONEY & WHO WANTS TO MARRY MY DAD REUNION.

PANCHO, you'd think that a place wouldn't have shells like that all over the floors just for the reason of what happened to you. I really hope you feel better soon, that sure sucks! I think that would be an awesome job for you as a personal trainer-how long does it take to get certified? Go for it!

JACKK, thanks for posting that!!!! Makes one open their eyes:eek:

Okay, I'm outta here for the afternoon - going to go to the PO and mail out a ton of bills, some due today, so guess I'm a tad late on those. Going to run to Super Walmart, Big Lots, Smart & Final and places in between. Will give a holler when I get home, or at least I hope to, depending on the computer being available:shurg:

Good morning!
I'm sorry that I haven't been around for a couple of weeks, but it's been a bit crazy! I was our agency coordinator for our tent at the county fair, and then went to work the state fair for a couple of days. Plus getting kids back to school stuff and all manner of other things....sigh...now it's quieter and I can get back to normal.
Have to admit that it's not easy staying OP with all that fair food around, but I tried to eat semi-healthy, and I missed exercise too. It's back to the gym today for cardio and Pilates. I think I may only have gained a pound or two.
It's so good to see new people on the board, and encouraging to hear everyone's stories.
Got to get back to work, have a great day everyone!

Not a lot of time to talk but just wanted to say hi! I think I may be getting the virus that is going around my family. I woke up at 3 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep. I was just feeling uncomfortable. I took an Allegra this morning hoping it would keep me going at work! I guess Debbie, BOB and I could have had a conference call together at 3 a.m.:dizzy:

Talk to you later.

Hello everyone.

I'm just popping in to say hello. Hubby got a puppy last Thursday and my hands are even more full then they were before. I told him he has to deal with the puppy, but I get stuck with it while he's at work. I didn't like potty training the kids much less a puppy. Oh well, he's a cute little thing anyway. The cat don't think so though.

Well I gotta go, time to take puppy outside to potty again. Talk to y'all later.

Monet--I looked up info on Phentermine and what I found was that it is an appetite suppressant. I didn't see anything about it revving up metabolism, which my Thyrolar, and perhaps the carnitine, should be doing. I'm eating only about 1200 calories per day now, sometime more, and at that level, I can lose VERRRY slowly if I am religious about it. If I go much higher than that, I stay the same or gain. So I don't think I need a suppressant. What I NEED is a metabolism that will permit me to eat 1500 calories per day, which is not THAT much, and lose about 1 pound a week. I'd love to have that.

French class was fun today. I like it. We are having a quiz next week, and I have a ton of listening to do on the CD's for the class. So, gotta go hit the books.

I couldn't get to sleep last night either....I lay in bed until 2:30 or three, and then finally decided to get up and do something to get my mind off of it. Apparently labor day made us all so rested we didn't need any sleep at the end of it.
We had a cookout yesterday with some family from out of town. My s-i-l brought Key Lime pie! Yikes! But I didn't eat any. I also avoided the potato salad, and just ate grilled chicken breast and lots of salad with SF dressing. (Walden Farms 1000 Island...my favorite!) Then I had a low sugar dessert my husband's aunt made...strawberries, lite cool whip, sugarfree jello all mixed and congealed together. It was good! I guess that was permissible.

Does anyone else here use Leslie Sansone videos, "Walk Away The Pounds?" I love doing them, because they don't require lots of grace or skill, :D as I have little of either of those things. Also, when it's raining outside or too hot or whatever, you can still get a good "walk" in. They have been such a help to me, just wanted to share that in case anyone else is looking for something to do. I got my first video at Target, and it was less than $10.

Hope everyone is having a great day! I'm going to go exercise!

Thanks all for welcoming me back! It's always good to come home to old friends and meet some new ones here.

And those of you who told me that planning is key, you are sooo right!!!!

I went to my folks' where the rest of the family were congregating. Before I left, I stopped at my fridge and took some cheese strings and my "bag 'o' salad" and a big bottle of water (I find I drink more from the bottle). When I arrived I was a bit hungry, so I had a cheese string and some water. Actually mom had a good spread: veggies and dip, salmon salad, egg salad, some cheese, ham and of course crackers and bread. I took some salmon and egg salad and put each on a piece of ham, added a wee bit of lettuce from my big bag and rolled up the ham. Pretty good! I ate lots of the raw veggies too. The donuts on the table didn't even interest me!

I still have a bit of a headache thing going, but I know I'm detoxing and that's a good thing, so I can put up with it no problem. The headache is telling me I'm doing something good.

This last 1 and a 1/2 days is the longest I've been OP in a while. I have never really planned like I have this time. The SO Beach book helped me a lot, but whatever works.

So to anyone who doesn't think they can do this, YOU CAN! If I can do it, anyone can. I just think in my case maybe I didn't want it bad enough till now.

Ok, gotta go and get the little guy from school shortly.

Ellen

GATOR: The Phentermine is an appetite suppressant, theoretically, but it is actually an amphetimine, or speed. It does work as a metabolic booster, even if it is not billed as that. If I take one after about 8 or 9 in the morning, it can keep me up at night. I can't drink any caffienated drinks when I am on it either, because it makes me bounce off the walls when I do! The increase in my energy level when I am on it is remarkable.

Hey All:wave:

Just got home and MICHAEL went to his room so I figured I better take this opportunity to jump on the board while I can:)

Okay, I'm usually REALLY good about reading labels on foods I buy, but I didn't bother to read the label of CLAUSSEN'S PICKLES when I bought them at the store today. Took a bite and THEN I decided to look at the label to see the calories-I spit that sucker right out! It has CORN SYRUP in it! What the heck is corn syrup doing in friggin pickles!??!:?: UGH! Even though it says 0 grams of sugar, I won't be partaking in those anymore-glad I saw it before I ate it. Even though it was a thin sandwich slice still, it bothered me! Okay, it pissed me off:mad:

WOOD, we totally understand. I think this is a busy time a year for many of us. Just wait til the holidays roll around, the board gets REALLY slow! Glad to have you come on and send a holler - that way we know you're thinking of us:D

TONI, check out the link to that post if you haven't - has a chart with some high fiber foods on it which is good to keep for reference.

BEACH, hope you aren't getting sick! I thought I was last night, it was so weird, nose got stopped up, sneezing, started feeling icky and this morning, nada:nono: Thank goodness - I don't want OR need to get sick.

JEC, what kind of puppy did you get. Good luck with puppy training!!!

BOB, I didn't know you wore Birks! Which ones did you get and of course, I have to ask how much!!! I guess you won't be coming here any time soon, you're maxing out those CC's minute by minute! I know you're on a SHOPPER'S HIGH!!!:cloud9: FLOM it was a reunion show, next week is the finale-thought they'd do it the other way around. For WWTMMD, they too had a reunion and the two of them are together-they had to stay apart why the show was airing so they're just now getting to be together more-they make a good couple.

GATOR, are you sure that if you didn't increase your caloric intake you wouldn't lose? 1200 calories just isn't enough and that alone could be making your metabolism slower and make you lose slower - have you tried increasing it for a certain time frame?

GARDEN, congrats to you to passing on all those foods yesterday:bravo: LOL, I just tried the Walden Farms 1K Island dressing and I didn't like that one, gave it away. They sent me some bottles to try and I did like the French a lot, and I'm not one for French, not one for 1KI either though. Have some others they sent but hate opening a new bottle until I finish the old. I guess we'll have to start a insomniacs club with the way we couldn't sleep last night!!! I know others have the LS tapes, I don't - I go out and pound the pavement:)

ZANNE, good going today! You'll be fine - the headaches will pass soon, if not today - then you'll be smooth sailing again:)

Okay, I must run to the urination station before I burst - actually have gotten in a lot of water today - GO ME!:spin:

Just a short check in here. I worked today. Tomorrow, the full time decorator who is scheduled will not be there, as she has been sick for several days. Thankfully, there are not many orders. I love doing orders, but I am really slow at it! Today, I did a lot. I guess that is why I am so tired.

Hi everyone,

I want to thank you all for the warm welcome! Thanks especially to Pancho for your reply regarding Atkins. I've been trying to transition for about the last week and so far so good. You're right, I can see how it gives me so much more freedom. My husband has been on Atkins along with me and we were both a little nervous about adding any kind of carbs but SB just seems so much more balanced and healthy.

I do have a couple of questions. I found a syrup that is sweetened only with fruit juices. Is this a good thing? It's made with only fruit and nothing else.

Also, is unbleached enriched wheat the same as enriched flour, the white stuff? The only breads I seem to be able to find besides that is listed as whole wheat flour or cracked wheat. Is that what I want? I can't seem to find any that say stone ground whole wheat. :?:

Debelli, your article about fiber was interesting and informative. Thanks.

BOB, I happened to remember early this morning that I had forgotten all about "For Love Or Money". I was really bummed cause I thought it was the finale. But, I looked up their web site and found out that they had that reunion with the girls from LOM1 and the guys from LOM2. Although I would have loved to have seen that at least we didn't miss the finale which will be a 2 hour special next Monday. I'm glad someone besides me watches that. I don't think I know anyone else except my husband and my daughter who watch it! :D

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Got to get ready for an interview in a minute so wanted to catch up for the day.

It is still raining here. It is miserable. If we don't get to walk tonight I will have to do my yoga or pilates tape plus my wt training.

I will post my fiber for today tomorrow. Not sure which veggies I am having with my grilled cod tonight yet.

Deb, Good going staying 100% OP. I'mt trying for that this next weekend. But we have a cookout and a birthday party Sat & Sun. But I'm gonna try. It's not the food, the drinks. I like to be socialable. I suggested to Dennis las nite that he rub my rear after all when he gets leg cramps at 2:00 in the morning he wakes me up to rub his leg.;). If I don't get that shot tonite, he will be. I know I won't be at chat tonight, no computer at home

Bob, you sure have lots of trouble sleeping. Reading does it for me. Puts me right to sleep.

Pancho, hope your back is feeling better today. Nothing worse. I'm jealous of your back to school night. I always liked those and especially when they got in high school. Those days are gone forever. Good idea about the trainer. That's one way to keep in shape. I think all that stuff, wt training and nutrition is so interesting. Go for it.

Woodfrog, just jump right back on track. This is a new month and a new week. You can shed any "fair" pounds quickly. Nothing like a good corn dog.

Beach, Oh no, I hope you are not getting that virus. Keeping popping some vitamin c.

Jecrites, You definately will have your hands full with a new puppy. They are as much work as kids.

Bob, there are times when you don't mind getting the sr citizens discounts. 3 lbs off of veggies???? must be that cornbread and fried okra, huh?

Zanne, good for you. You did so good at your DM's. Being prepared is also a biggie. Just like you took things with you to eat. You are right back on track and kicking butt.

Monet, isn't Phentermine (or Phen Phen) that drug that people have been dying on? Is it safe.

Gardenmom, I wanted to address your original post from last week. (I finally had a chance to go back and skim the ones I missed over the weekend). I started out at 257#. I am also 5'6", I was having some major headaches and I have Rheumatoid Arth. on top of that. I finally realized I had to do something about this wt. I was miserable and I was sure my DH wasn't happy about it either (even though he never said it). I couldn't stand for him to see me naked. I couldn't stand to see me naked. A friend had done well on SB and I called to get the scoop about it. Started that next day. Even though I didn't have real ww bread and other correct food. I lost 8 lbs the first week. I know it was water, but I was on my way. I have never stuck with any diet very long, but this time I knew from day 1 I was going to do this. I did. so far I have lost over 100 lbs. This is so easy to do. You don't have to think about it or count anything. It is adaptable to eating out and for life. I am about 15 lbs from my goal wt. I have fooled around with this last 15 pounds since May when my DD got married. I am now ready and determined again to get to my goal and then to keep this off forever. I just wanted you to know that this can be done and it is easy. But I could not have done it without this group. I started out on another board and while it kept me going I was much happier on this board. These girls and guys (when we get them) are great. So join us. Take one day at a time. If health problems run in your family, you owe it to yourself and your family to get this wt off now. Plan ahead and be prepared. Best of luck to you. Yes, I have the Leslie Sansome 3 mile tape and love it. It is great for winter time. I know Heartmom does them too a lot.

Have a great evening everyone. Wish I could join you at chat, but no puter at home. :(

Hello, all. Not much going on- still very puffy and lazy. I have ZERO energy. I haven't exercised since Friday!! But as soon as I get off the computer, I'm going to do my 2 mile tape. GARDEN- I bought the set of 3. I alternate between the 2 mile and 3 mile tapes. Today, I don't have the energy to sustain 3 miles. When I'm exercising regularly, I mostly do the 3 mile until I get bored with it and do the 2 mile. I like being able to exercise in my pj's if I want to and no one has to see me all red faced and sweaty. Plus, there's no excuse to not exercise when it's raining- and it burns more calories than plain walking. I went to the thrift store today and got a size 14 pair of jeans for $3, a size Large white dress shirt for $1, and a black skirt for $1. The white shirt was a little dingy, so I got it soaking in bleach. I almost bought the same one at Walmart last week- it was around $15 there. It's just a basic white buttoned shirt with cuffs. Anyway, I've done enough procastinating- it's exercise time for me.

Hello all,

Been MIA for a couple of weeks. Been sick and just plain lazy. Had my second migrane in 3 days today - don't know whats up with that, maybe stress... my doc had given me maxalt-mlt earlier in the year when I was having headaches and this is the first time I've had to take it. Thank goodness, it works - just makes me feel kinda fuzzy.

Hey All...I was reading Mika's post about bread. Someone recently posted a great article on breads and it had a list of foods based on which ones were legal. I know my Pepperidge Farm 9 Grain is legal. There were a whole lot more on the list. Maybe it could be posted again or was it put on the Information Board?

Just a quickie to catch up...

MONET, I'm sure you aren't as slow as you think you are, and besides perfection does take time!!!;) I'm sure people can see the time and effort you put in your cakes vs those who spit them out faster. What are you gals planning to do on when you meet? PLEASE make sure you give FILLISE a big BIRTHDAY HUG for me, would you? BOB, a swift kick in the keester will do just fine:s:

MIKA, glad to hear your finding the transition easier than expected. Can you give a little more information about the syrup. Ingredients and nutritional info, even a name. Concentrated fruit juices are like sugar-have to watch the grams of sugar in foods containing this. Yes, you are correct about the enriched flours, they are no good. Being you are in CA - don't you have a TRADER JOES around - they definitely have breads that you can eat there, or at least another HFS (health food store). If you are adventurous and like to bake, you can even make your own! When I was in CA I had no problem finding breads that were okay to eat on this WOE - it may just take a little label reading to find out that there's more there than you think. You do want to see the label with SGWW flour or 100% whole wheat at least. Do you have the EZEKIEL breads there?

JACKK, I'm sure you'll be fine this weekend. You usually do just fine. If you enjoy a drink from now and then it would be ridiculous to think you would never drink again so you have to find a way to fit this in to your lifestyle so you can stay OP most other ways. I know, right now, I'm 100% OP and I know that in the future I will have chocolate - gosh knows I have about 40 bars in my stash, if not more - I just hope when that day comes I won't go hog wild and binge for days, weeks, etc. I have to find a way to be able to have it once in a while and no go nuts - wonder if hypnotizing would help:?: We're bracing for a lot of rain-it's been raining every day but luckily it's only rained once when I was walking.

GATOR, well, at least you lose, slow or not, a loss is a loss! One of the weight calculators I use said it would take me 19 days to lose 1 pound - that's pretty darn slow, but I think I can increase it a bit, but if that's the case, so be it:shrug:

HEART, I see you are still out there bargain hunting and finding deals! Good job! Did you get out there and exercise?????????????

TV, thanks for checking in - hope you feel better:D

BEACH, I don't remember seeing the list you mention about the breads. Maybe we could all compile a list of the breads we find that are available and okay to eat on this WOE and where we find them - what do you think?

Okay, I'm outta time - may not be able to check in til tomorrow morning.

At this rate, though, it will be 5 years before I get to my goal. And that is depending on the fact that I eat 1200 each day during that whole time. Hmmm. Sounds bleak! If I go over, say, on a vacation, or holiday time, or whatever, then perhaps it will be 6 years. :yikes:

Debbie...I think the bread list was while you were away. I think Pancho, Jack-k, or Teensy put it on the board. It was a great article. Maybe one of them will see this and direct us to the list.

Gator...another thought to help with the metabolism. Have you tried eating more on one day, then less the next etc. trying to trick you body? You try to average out about 1500 calories a day but on one day you may eat 1100 and another 1800...sometimes this will really bread a plateau and speed up the weight loss.

Thank God its fixed and we had rain and cool weather as Tx does get Hot.

Glad you went to church and do not judge the church by your first visits, as people are not any different there than the ones we work with or associate with.It takes time for them to warm up and be the human beings they should be 24/7

You got it, send your kids where you want to visit then go have fun. I really enjoyed 2 weeks away from this cruel job, I did not read any papers or watch Tv, but to be honest, it was I do not speak or read French. I love my two kids and even wish I had my grandkids first, ( just kidding).

A short week and so much to do, is it me or are we getting older faster, hey maybe thats why our diets are not doing what we want, time is flying so fast we really lost weight but it has caught up with us yet. Ya I wish. Remember we all are special people and God loves us even if we don not love ourself's somtimes. Have a special and SUPER day and watch out for them little people out there. Dinner tonight was grilled Italian sausage, salad, and ww spaghetti with tomato paste sauce. I am really proud of myself. I have not forgotten one dose of Glucophage in over two weeks. Pretty good for me! I am staying loaded up on vitamin I (ibuprofen) which is helping all my aches and pains. Hopefully, tomorrow won't be too stressful. At least I have a nice crew to work with. The girl who hates me is closing, which is a relief! ;)

I have been feeling rather down lately. I found out some good news about two young couples I know. I just felt very bad that the one young man, who has always been like a son to me, did not let me know they were expecting next month. He has been off in school, but he has my email. That and another situation just kind of eroded my confidence. I am thankful that I did not turn to eating to 'feel better'. I guess I am making progress.

JACK: No, Phentermine is not Phen Phen. You can't buy it over the counter, it is a prescription drug. Its brand name is Adipex.

DEB: I hope we can pull it together, but I have not heard from either one of the two of them today, so I am not sure whats up.

GATOR: Hey, I know exactly how you feel! At the rate I lose, it will take about ten years for me to reach goal! I have been doing either Atkins, or SB now for five years, and have lost 40. I have another 40 to go. Sometimes, the lack of progress is very discouraging. Next time you see your doctor, ask her about the Phentermine. Maybe your Thyrolar levels are not high enough yet. I think my thyroid levels are finally ok, and that and the glucophage SHOULD make a difference, but honestly, I hate to get my hopes up!

TV: Two migraines in three days! That is awful! I get them too, so I can relate! Hope you can find what is causing them.

DAVE: Glad you could get the AC fixed fairly quickly! Don't you hate when it goes out? Thankfully, the H/AC guy here is a friend of ours. He usually will come out pretty quickly.

TEENSY: Have fun fishing! I am jealous of all your veggies! I did get three more cukes and a handful of cherry tomatoes yesterday. I also have about four Better Boy tomatoes on the plants now! Hooray! I was afraid they would not make anything this year! NEXT year I am planting earlier!

About time to hit the pillow....sweet dreams everyone!

Happy WIW.

I almost forgot about it. The holiday has me messed up.
I weighed, still not telling. Almost there though. Things are looking better.

Congrats to all the losers today. Rest of us, hang in there.

It is payday here, that always makes it better.

It is still raining here. Supposed to be over today sometime. So we didn't get to walk last nite but I did do 40 minutes of wt training and floor exercises. Trying to work ont these thighs :fr: I also got a shot for my rear, so I didn't want to do too much with legs.

Hoping to get out tonight but DH may have to have a tooth pulled today (if I can get him in) and probably won't feel like it. I can always do a tape.

My fibver for yesterday:

1 canned peach 3.2
4 oz applesauce 2.9
celery 1.0
Bread 4.0
peanut butter 2.0
green beans 2.0
salad 2.0
strawberries 5.1
Total 22.2 grams

Not too bad. More than I thought.

Deb, you could taste the sugar in the pickle that quickly? You had me thinking about fiber all day yesterday in everything I ate. I had planned on having a dab of popcorn last night and even though it would have given me some fiber, I opted for a better snack of strawberries. At least I was conscience of what I was eating. I'm not worried about fitting drinking into my lifestyle after I get to goal. But right now I am concentrating on getting there so I have to watch it. BTW, do the pot pies count as 1 or 2 starchy carbs?

Monet, pretty soon you will be the head decorator if this keeps up. Don't work too hard. Don't let your friend not telling you about the preg bother you. People get busy and tied up in their own lives and just don't think. You are making progress not eating when you're down.

Mika, I found Wonder Bread makes a SGWW bread that is great. I don't know if they carry it in your area or not, but check it out. anything with the word "enriched" is a no-no..

Heart, man you are getting some big bargains. You and Deb are going to be duking it our for the bargain :queen:

TV, sorry about those miagrines. They can be killers. Hope you feel better soon and can join us more often.

Beach, what's the secret with the green tea? It doesn't get strong enough for me. I love tea in any form (especially Long Island Teas) just kidding, I know there is no tea in them. But the green tea just isn't strong enough. Any ideas. It wasn't me that had the bread list, sorry.

Gator, man don't think of the whole picture, that is depressing. Just make some mini goals that are obtainable and reward yourself from time to time.

SuperDave, I don't think I welcomed you as you came over the weekend when I was not on the board. Welcome to our board. It is nice to have a male perspective around. Glad you got the AC fixed. How did people ever live w/o it?

Crystle, come on girl, I don't want to make a trip to Texas to get you back on track and out of that mood. How can you be in a bad mood with all us goofy people on here.

Got to run.

Hope to be back later. Have a great OP day.

Good morning everyone. Can't believe its already WIW but the scale saids I lost 1 pound. I say hey why so slow!!! But what the heck I'm losing and will look at my menu and see if I can't change it a bit and make it a little better. Walked on my TM this morning so I'm all rareing to go this morning...

mika- I'll let someone that does it better than me comment on your questions. Its really nice your DH does this along with you, doesn't that make it easier?! My hubby eats the same food I do to and I'm sure glad it makes it allot nicer for me. Except last night I forgot I'd have all my starchy carbs for the day and we were having spraggetti for dinner so ended up putting mine on fried cabbage instead of the whole wheat spraggetti noodles. I know that sounds weird but it was good in a pinch.

Jack-K- Loved to read your story about how you came to SB. We're thinking of camping this week-end but really the only worry is about having wine. While sitting around the campfire.... Hope you get a shot or a butt rub!

heartmom-Okay gal get busy an exercise. That might be why you're not feeling peppy..... Hey you got the bargains and great sizes....

TV- Its so good to see you posting again. I'm sorry about your migrane. I hope you feel better soon and come back and join us again.

beachfan-Thats the kind of bread I eat most the time. I wish they would post that list again. I must not have been here when they did. I think I need to drink more green tea to. I've got away from it since it got so hot.

Debelli- Morning hope you're out for your walk.... Are you getting lots of rain too?

Gatorgal- I know what you mean about how long its taking to get to goal. Over a year later and I'm still plugging away. Slow slow slow. I'm even dreading the holidays.

SuperDave- Oh my gosh my terror every year is that our air cond. will go out. We live in a mobile home and its like a tin oven. But have to say the rain has finally got us out of the 90's here in Missouri. But we have that awful humity to keep us like feeling we're in a wet blanket outside. But fall is just around the corner then I can gripe about winter. I hope your man gets your air fixed today. How you doing on SB?

Monet-Your dinner sounds allot like mine. Sorry you've been down and hope things get better soon You did so good not eating to handle it.

CountryMom-Okay to the dungeon till you get out of this funk gal. Now we've got this brand new month to deal with. You can do this...

Guess I'm to early to catch all the weight losses so will pop back later.... Have a great day everyone...

Good WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY Morning Everyone:wave:

Hoping the scales are kind to everyone today!:D I am vowing to stay off the scale until the last WIW of the month to see how I'm doing. Last time I weighed in was 150, but I know that I went up a couple pounds from there:eek: I've been 100% OP since 8/25 and have no desires to do anything but stay 100%. I'm hoping to see an average of a 5lb loss each month so I can be back down to my goal weight by the end of the year-even close to that will be welcome.

Got in my 4.5 miles this morning, was hard, but I got out there. Going to try and do 5 days a week and take Wednesdays and Saturdays off but this Friday I'm going to help my GF and Aunt do the estate sale and won't be able to get in my walk unless I get up and out around 5am.

I bought some tilapia yesterday - didn't know what I was going to do with it, put some spices and stuck it in the jet stream oven, then decided to put a thin layer of the OLE OLE salad dressing I had in the fridge and sprinkle it lightly with parm. cheese - OMG, it was to DIE FOR! It was sooooo good! I want more!!!!!

ELI is off today and I have to get ready quickly, so I'm going to make this a quickie in regards to replies...

GATOR, I doubt it would take you that long. I really think you just need some kind of tweeking. I was reading about people who sound like you that need what was referd to as a METABOLIC TUNE-UP. I will see if I can get more info.

BEACH, if it was posted on the board you just need to do a search among our boards within the last month and it should come up - if you don't find it I'll try to locate it later.

DAVE, gosh, I can't imagine being without an a/c for any length of time, oh, forget that, yes I can, I did it for 10 days when we had Hurricane Andrew - even an hour is awful - hope it wasn't too hot for you. Don't worry about the typing, or the brain - I think we all go through that, at least I do, so see, you fit right on in in another way;)

JEC, my kids would LOVE a dog but not until they're on their own, I know, mean mom but I have a few of the rooms in my house just as I like them and would be peeved if I had a dog peeing on my carpets and chewing on the furniture. Took in a dog once and that's what happened, luckily, it was before I had new stuff years ago. Besides, when my dog passed away it was too much for me, very heartbreaking :( I think when the kids are little it's good for them though, shows them responsibility - hope he trains well. What did you name him? Here's an idea - SPEARS! My kids would probably say MURPHY!

MONET, hope whatever is going on doesn't put you in the dumps. I'm sure if you get to see MONET & FILLISE that will def. lift your spirits. Any news?

COUNTRY, do I need to get you to the Detox Dungeon?

JACKK, glad to see your headed downward. Good job on the fiber, pretty close to the recommended amount. I couldn't taste the sugar at all but I went to look at the nutritional info and the words CORN SYRUP right below in the ingredients just jumped out and slapped me in the face! That's exactly why I posted this challenge with the fiber, to make you all more aware - glad it's working! I personally chose to count the pot pies as two starches but really, it's only 1, 18gr of carbs, but it just seems to little, so I count it as two. I'm eating 5 starchy carbs a day, or shooting for that, so for me, counting it as such is fine.

TONI, CONGRATS on your loss this week - it's a loss you should take and be proud of! Yep, I was out. No rain - YET!

Okay, time to get in the shower. Will try to post later this evening.

Have a wonderful day!

Hey Gang!

I can't remember if I said this already, but thank you all for your condolences for my uncle

I've been 100% OP for 2 whole days now! I'm shocking myself! I'm finding this South beach diet easy to follow (to me it's SugarBusters and this first phase is just SB without flour, rice, sweet potatoes, fruits) I'm actually eating a heck of a lot more veggies than I was before. Last night for dinner we had a big greek salad and steamed broccoli with our chicken. DH and DS didn't even miss potato or rice. heck, I'm not cooking 3 different kinds of meals for dinner.:s:

I've caught myself almost cheating. DS didn't eat all his apple yesterday and I usually finish it. For these first 2 weeks I can't have fruit--I had the apple in my hands, but put it down quickly before taking a bite. I've also made DS a fruit smoothie for breakfast and caught the drips on my finger and NEARLY licked my finger. I know it wouldn't have been much, but I am so proud of myself for ZERO cheats.

I had to check out the scale cause I *feel* thinner. It says one lb down in 2 days, but who knows for sure. We'll see what the total is at the end of 2 weeks.

I'm feeling good, tummy is actually feeling full most of the time and I think the headache is gone! Hooray, I'm detoxed! Now to stay that way!

FILLISE--HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :balloons: :gift: :hat:

TONI--what a great idea putting the sauce on the cabbage. It would kind of be like having cabbage rolls --just all shredded up. Actually, I may make that as a dinner! Thanks for the idea!

Gotta go exercise now. Didn't get any in yesterday between the phone calls and emails and visit with family .

have a great OP day everyone!:grouphug:

Happy Birthday, Fillese!:hat: :hb: :gift:

Question?--I was cleaning out my closet today and I ran across several pairs of size 14 jeans that I used to wear about 9 or 10 years ago. Anyway, I could tell just by looking at them that they were way too small. I tried them on and could barely get them over my butt. Why are they so much smaller than the ones I've been seeing at Walmart, etc. lately? Or is it just me? Maybe I just got lucky by finding SOME 14's I could wear(they ran big?). Or do you think that designers have altered their sizes with America getting bigger throughout the years? Geez, now I have no idea what size I am.

Deb- yes, I did my 2 mile tape yesterday- plan on doing the 3 mile tape today.:D

Well, I'm foregoing WIW. I haven't been on the scales since Friday or Saturday- I WAS 182. Today, I'm even more puffy than ever. I'm getting sick of it. It's hubby's fault though. He went and put regular table salt(and too much) in my peas/beans last night. I already had fluid on me, and that really did it. I think I'm retaining the majority of the water I drank yesterday. I've been up since early this morning and have already drank half a gallon of water. I'm going to force this extra fluid off me TODAY. Hubby is on my s:censored: t list today. He's been keeping me up at night snoring and taking my pillows. Then, we got into an argument because I was taking clothes down in the closet that are now too big- he said he couldn't afford to buy me a new wardrobe every 7 or 8 weeks. He's so full of it. I've been wearing 16's since April and May- hello, it's now September. He was really nasty about it, too. I was like, whatcha want me to do- pile back on the weight?! That's why I've been shopping the thrift store for 14's instead of buying them new and spending all of "his" money. Okay, I'm off my :soap:

Good WIW to everyone. I was at 123.5 this morning (125.5 yesterday). I'm a yo-yo act, but that's o.k. I am in the range that I am finally o.k. with. I had a doctor's appt. yesterday at an office I haven't been to in over 3 months. Everyone commented on how much weight I had lost and how good I looked. It's been such a gradual loss for me that I don't notice it like those who haven't seen me in awhile. When someone says, "you're so tiny," I have to look around to see who they are talking to. I haven't been referred to as tiny in many years.

I did get to the gym this morning and got my workout in.

I didn't look at labels to see how much fiber I had yesterday, but here are the items I ate that I believe had fiber in them:

Cantaloupe 1/3 cup
1/2 cup oatmeal with flax seed meal & agave
small bunch of grapes
chicken sandwich with 2 slices whole grain bread
grilled cheese with 2 slices whole grain bread
salad

Not much going on today, so I will jump into the posts:

Jack: No offense taken to yesterday's post; it was enjoyable reading.

Deb: I'm just starting to research the personal trainer deal. I could go to school and actually get a 4-year degree (which I won't do). I still have 12 credits to get my bachelor's in Business Management. But, there are many classes, programs, etc...that you can get training and certification. I found one program where I could get a dual certification as a personal trainer & a strength trainer. I'll keep you posted on any new findings. I cannot believe that even pickles have corn starch in them; is there anything they don't add some type of sweetened to? You go girl....you are doing great staying on plan.

jecrites: Good luck with the puppy; those kind of dogs are so cute, but a lot of work. We looked into getting one once; I read that their first love is birds, and the second humans. They love to go, and are busy little pups. Two years ago, after trying to get pregnant for nearly two years, we figured we wouldn't be having any more kids, so we got our daughter a baby golden retriever puppy; well I ended up getting pregnant two months later. What a handful that puppy was; she about did me in. She was the most stubborn pain in the a** that you'd ever want to meet. She is still quite the handful, but quite the lover too.

Garden: You did great on your eating over the weekend; you deserve a great big pat on the back!

Mika: Yes on the syrup. No on the bread. You don't want anything that has been enriched, since it has been stripped of all its healthy ingredients. More stores are starting to carry stone ground whole wheat breads now. Some do have some sort of sweetener in it, but just remember the 3g under rule. I usually get mine with 2g sugar per slice if I can't get to the health food store, and get the kind with 0g of sugar.

heart: You are quite the bargain shopper. I just saw a story on some fashion news show the other night. They had a model trying on several pairs of jeans (in a size 6 or 8, I think). Every pair fit her differently. Some were baggy, some were skin tight. they said that most manufacturers are going to start listing measurements on their pants/jeans, and you will then know what brands fit you best.

TV: Hope your son enjoyed his first game.

Dave: I haven't welcomed you yet, so WELCOME! And beware...we do talk about men sometimes on here, as well as TOM (that means time of month)

Monet: Sorry about the disappointing situation - way to stay in charge of your diet/health!!

Country: Hang in there. Isn't it funny how one thing can lead to another? I always do better with my eating when I am exercising. It seems they need to go hand in hand.

Fillise: Happy Birthday!

Zanne: Way to stay OP! That's great. I'm curious to know how you do on the SB Diet, as my mom is looking into it as well. She has been on Atkins before, and I am trying to steer her to SugarBusters; we'll see what she does.

Have a great day everyone!

I am very upset with myself! I had done so well yesterday, had exercised, ate exactly as I should, had a protein drink, lots of water, etc. But night time came and my dh was working later than usual, kiddos were in bed, and the craving hit. (You guys may laugh at me but my craving is always peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.) I did eat them on low carb bread and used low sugar jelly, but that probably doesn't help a lot when you EAT THREE OF THEM! I am so mad at myself this morning! I hadn't lost a pound, of course. Oh well, I just got up this morning and did my workout and ate my lowfat cottage cheese and drank 33 ounces of water, etc. I just wish I knew how to overcome that binge feeling. If I had had a protein shake that probably would have helped me overcome it, but I was out. Maybe I should just go get 3 or 4 canisters of the stuff and never run out!
Speaking of protein drinks, does anyone use them on a regular basis? I have used Designer Whey chocolate flavored powder, and this time tried EAS AdvantEdge vanilla, which I really liked. They're pretty low carb and low fat, so I thought they would probably be a safe choice. However, I noticed that the labels of both say "Do not use for weight loss." I guess they're for body builders or something, but why would it be wrong to use for dieting? Anyone know?

I'm in a much better mood today. I think I can type without being a negative nellie...:)

Happy Birthday Fillise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HeartMom...yes the designers are cutting clothes bigger. Some brands still run smaller than others. Don't let ole' meanie head get to you....keep losing the weight. He's just got a little of the green eyed monster I bet. You are looking great and getting the looks.

Poncho.....I miss being called tiny....LOL I was your weight about 10 years ago. I have to remind myself it wasn't a good thing. I'm glad you are doing so well and staying in that nice comfortable zone.

Gardenmom...((((hugzz)))) You'll get past those cravings. I still battle the chips from time to time. Maybe you could make your PB and J....cut it up in a baggie and snack on it through out the day instead of sitting down all at once. Maybe that would make it less of a craving. I do that with the chips. If I make myself go totally without I WILL eat them like crazy. And to be honest if I'm having a really really bad day I still may snork on them.

Deb...WTG woman being OP. There is not a doubt in my mind that you will get back to goal.

Jack-K....As much as I'd like you to come to Texas and get me lined out I'm off my pity party and back on track. :) My weight is just driving me batty....I WISH I could not think about it just one day but I can't.....God is good and life goes on. Trying to change my focus back to where it was when I started. All about health and less about the weight.

Zanne....WTG staying OP. I'm glad the South Beach diet is working for you. I know one of the ladies in my ladies group lost well on it.

Toni...thank you so much for your encouragement. This was one of those weeks I needed it. I guess my monthly put me in a funk and it went from there. But today is a new day. We were able to get out before the rain started. It really helps me emotionally to walk. WTG on the pound down....slow and steady wins the race!

Howdy to everybody...time is getting away from me. Each of you is special!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hang in there......remember the race isn't over till ya quit and we aren't quitters!!!

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Debilli-You're sure doing good. I admire that walking of yours. I've wanted to try that kind of fish but I've been sort of afraid, maybe I will now..

Fillise- Happy Birthday.....

Zanne-I wondered how the south beach diet would be. You're doing so well and it seems to really be working out for you. Good luck....

heartmom- You know I've wondered the same thing. I do think they're making clothes bigger.

Pancho- Gosh you're my hero. Can't wait till I'm where you are.

gardenmom-Sorry you fell off the wagon but climb back up and this week will be better....

Debbie--Thanks for the suggestion about the metabolic tune - up. I'll be interested in seeing what you find.

I actually did lose 1 pound this week. I upped my carnetine from 1000 gms. per day to 2000 grams per day. So, it's either that or the lower calories.

I actually eat a lot of fiber.
yesterday: 1 sl. WW bread
1 huge salad with sun dried tomatoes and about 3 cups lettuce, plus other things (cheese, meat) that did not have fiber.
dinner--I had about 1 cup steamed broccoli. Plus one melon wedge. I didn't have time to type this in to see the actual grams of fiber.

today, so far, 3 T whole grain oatmeal.
1 cup cut up fresh fruit, 1 cup steamed broccoli, 1/2 C brown rice. Dinner will include one cup collard greens.

Jack K--Thanks for the encouragement. I have set a goal to get into the 160's. Let's see, 7 pounds--that would be in March! Hopefully I can get there sooner!!

Afternoon, everyone! Just got in from work. Another day from H--- ! The full time decorator scheduled today was sick again, so I had to do the orders. Today, there were about four, and then three more people called. I took them. Then, someone wanted a tropical Boston Cream cake, so I did that. It took me the whole time again. I just don't know why I am so slow! I did get finished in time to check out before I was too late. If you try and clock out more than 6 minutes late, you have to get a manager card. Its a pain in the butt!

Seems BOB is not going to be able to swing meeting today, so I won't get to see Fillise, or meet BOB.

I did hop on the metal monster when I got home. Up a pound from last time I got on there. That doesn't help the down in the dumps feeling much....

Tomorrow is our 27th wedding anniversary. We are going to go out to dinner at either a seafood restaurant, or a fancy gourmet one downtown. I am hoping to stay on program even then.

Ok, gotta go eat some lunch, then take a nap. Talk to you all later!

Hello All,

Once again, thanks so much for your great response to my questions. That bread list would be most helpful if anyone comes across it again. What about when the label says "cracked wheat". Is that ok?

Deb- Unfortunately we do not have a Trader Joe's where I live. I know the store well as it was in Portland, OR where I lived before I came here as well as in S.CA. This is a small community on the coast of Northern CA and we don't have a lot of stuff here that can be found in the larger communities. I have't seen Ezekiel breads, but I will look for them in the NFS. It's kinda funny cause Health Food stores are one thing we seem to have in abundance. Humboldt County is known for it's "hippy-type" population and they are very much into not only their marijuana but also "natural" foods. It's actually a real hoot to see the kids in Arcata. Arcata is a college town, (Humoldt State), where they have art/craft fairs every weekend during the summer and their live music outdoors in the Arcata Plaza. The trend for them these days seems to be dread locks for every race. A couple years ago my 27 yr old son lived here in Eureka and even sported dreads much my dismay. I was really good about it though and didn't comment until he asked me what I thought of it. Of course, then I told him EXACTLY what I thought of it!

Anyway....the syrup I told you about:

Wax Orchards
Ingred: Marionberries, conc. grape, apple pear
Total fat: 0
Carb: 15
fiber: 2
sugar: 14 from conc. fruit juice

That's what it says on the label.

Toni-yes, it does make it a lot easier that my hubbie eats the same food. We just got married in Feb of this year and it has been so much easier for me to stick with it because I don't want to let him down as far as cooking the correct stuff for him. We started Atkins together the end of June. He's diabetic and he did so well with this that he's lost at least 30 lbs and his doctor took him off his Glucophage because he no longer has a blood sugar problem! It also helps cause I feel accountable to him.

Monet-Thanks, I will look for Nature's Own as well as some of the others suggested by others.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I look forward to seeing how you are all doing tomorrow. After I've been on SB for awhile I can post more about how I'm doing and ideas I come up with. I really enjoy cooking and have some great recipes but I want to be sure they're SB legal before I post them.

Monet, I don't know if you will get more caterpillars. It depends on the weather, mostly the heat. Butterflies like it hot. If you have some good nectar plants where they can get yummy nectar for food, and if you then have some larval plants where they like to lay their eggs, then you might. If you have plenty of dill, or parsley, or even milkweed for monarchs, then you just might. Look for the little white eggs, tiny like a grain of salt. Then a tiny caterpillar will hatch and start growing. If you find a caterpillar, bring it inside on a plant that it likes eating. Keep it fed and watch the life cycle. Good luck.
If it doesn't work this year, there's always next summer.

Ellen

GATOR: Thanks for the info! I will keep an eye peeled for more caterpillars! I got two more dill plants to entice them into my yard!

BOB: Are you saying the FAM is more important than meeting ME and FILLISE??? I did get your email, and was disappointed. Trying to be understanding... Unfortunately, our week vacation to Sarasota and Fort Myers got cancelled, so I won't be able to hook up with you in November now....

It's me again- I'm bored. Scoped some of the recipes. I'm going to try TONI48'S skillet pizza this weekend and BOB's squash casserole. I'm still trying to envision the squash with cream of celery soup, though. I hope the pizza one is good, since hubby LOVES pizza, and this would be a much healthier version that I could eat, too. You know, clothes must be made bigger than a few years ago. It was about 5 pairs of jeans, all different designers and they all are way too tight(all 14's)- but I'm able to wear several 14's in today's sizes. I don't think that's a good thing- kinda depressing when you think about it. I actually weighed a little bit more than I do now when I was able to wear those old jeans- but that's before 2 kids, 2 ceseareans, and a huge weight gain and loss. Anyway, tomorrow I have to go to the Social Security office for a "review" of Joseph's case. I HATE that place, and they always manage to tick me off. I wonder if for once will things go smoothly and they won't screw it up?! I'm cooking 15 bean soup in the crockpot with sausage. It smells good. Hopefully, I won't gain from the heaviness of it. The puffiness has gone down alot today. Hopefully, it won't reappear in the morning. I think I got my fiber quota in for the day- ate stir fy veggies(tomatoes, cabbage, onions, green beans) for lunch, also had a slice of toast with my breakfast- and of course the big bowl of beans I will eat for supper should really exceed daily fiber intake, lol. If you've never had bean soup before, you should try it. It's easy to make. Buy the 15 bean soup package from the store- add a whole onion, salt, pepper, garlic, hot sauce, chili powder, several dried bay leaves, smoked sausage(cajun flavor's really good), can tomatoes, a stalk of celery. Throw it in the crockpot for a few hours and Voila! I'm making cornbread also for the rest of the family. Okay, can anyone tell I'm hungry? Think I will make me a strawberry smoothie- hey, there's more fiber!

Garden- don't beat yourself up! The great thing about SB, is that it's a way of eating for life. Pick yourself up and continue on. Tomorrow's a new day.

Monet- you said you were up a pound when you weighed- did you weigh at the same time as before? I weigh in the morning, before I eat or drink anything. I've weighed myself after dinner before and I was up 4 pounds! But back the same the next morning.

WIW, which I was dreading since I spent most of the last 2 weeks at various fairs, working at our exhibit(NYS), and the gym was pretty much out of the question. But, only up 1 pound, not too horrible, I'm pretty sure I can knock that right off again. Went to the gym yesterday and today.
Hope that everyone else is doing well today!

HEART: I weighed when I got home from work, and had not eaten anything since 6 am, and it was about 2. I have to say nature took its course after I posted that, and of course I weighed again, and it was back down that pound. Your bean soup sounds good! I like beans! They don't like me! ;)

Hello:

I thought I'd jump on and say hello, since I have a minute. I really should be planning something for dinner (oh well).

Heart got me in the mood for Big Lots so I went when DD was in school; didn't find too much. They had an ab machine that is on all the TV commercials for 19.99; it was tempting, but I passed it up. We will stick to our ab tape that we have been doing.

Garden: It's a new day...put yesterday behind you and move on. You will have days like that but try not to get discouraged. Peanut Butter and Jelly (if the right kind of PB & J on the right kind of bread) isn't so bad; it could have been worse. I don't know much about the protein drinks, so I can't answer your question on that.

Gator: When I was losing at a good pace, I was taking 2000 mg Carnitine Tartrate, and I am sure that is what jump-started my weight loss and kept me losing. I was taking 2 before breakfast and 2 before dinner. I now take 1 every three days or so (500mg). Upping it to 2000mg will probably aide in your loss efforts. The pictures are beautiful; isn't nature amazing?

Monet: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!! 27 years is something to be very proud of; I always envy people who have stayed together for so many years. My parents just had their 39th in July; it will be the big 40 next year. Enjoy your dinner, and remember that you only celebrate this day once a year so don't beat yourself up if you eat a little off plan.

Wood: Glad it was only one pound; it certainly could've been a lot worse!! Keep up the good work.

Well, hubby and I are going to go out for dinner on Saturday night (the first time since DD was born nearly 14 months ago). We have a $100 gift certificate to a restaurant that we have never been to....I don't even know what kind of food they serve. We are going to have a bottle of wine (gotta use up that certificate), and then I may splurge a little bit for dinner. We may not get out for another year. I don't trust anyone with my children; I should lighten up a bit, but just feel more comfortable when they are with me. Once our baby gets a little bit older, I will feel more comfortable leaving her for a little longer.

Well, better go decide what's for dinner before everyone gets too hungry.

Take care!

Pancho--Thanks for the info on the Carnitine dose. I'm taking 2000 mg now but the book said you could easily go up to 4000. I'll stick with the 200 for now and see what happens. If I need to, I'll keep adding 500 per week.

Back in from small group meeting. The group decided to go to Taco Bell. Not a very good choice for someone on SB! I got a grilled steak taco and ate only about half the soft taco shell. Also got pintos and cheese. It was a light supper, I think. When we got home, I had a small glass of milk, and now its time for bed.

Sweet dreams everyone! I may not have time to post tomorrow. If not, I will be back on Friday....

The computer just became free but I'm off to bed - will be able to post tomorrow morning after I get in my walk - hopefully, depends if it's raining.

GOOD NEWS TONIGHT - a neighbor who's newer on the street and I got to talking the other day and she walks in the evening. I told her to call me if she ever wanted someone to go with and she did tonight - got in another 3.5 miles this evening - 8 miles total for the day!!!:D

Good night, everyone, and thanks for the encouragement. Tomorrow is a new day!!! I love what someone has on an earlier post...we're not a failure until we give up. I'm going to cling to that saying!

I'd still like to hear anyone's thoughts on the protein shakes, if you know any more about them.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the warm welcome. It's been about 2 weeks now. Not going near the scale, yet. It depresses me. But, I can already start to feel the positive effects of a healthier way of eating. Loading up on water and having fun finding new products with which to experiment. It was like Christmas to come home to a SugarFreeKitchen package on my doorstep this afternoon. I LOVE to cook and I find it simpler to just load the freezer, pantry, and fridge full of LEGAL items to eat. My husband is amazed when he tastes some of the SB recipes I have tried-- "Are ya sure this is LEGAL?!"
I can't wait to explore this site a bit more to try some of your recipes and ideas. And of course, I'd love to SHARE some of mine. I blame a lot of my weight problem on my mom. She can make dirt taste good. :p
Little incentive to lose. I was on Classmates.com last night. Found about 25 old friends & have heard from about 1/2 already. Planning a little reunion...time to lose.
Hey, I forget who posted the butterflies, but my son & I did that last year and it was just the neatest thing to watch. Awesome. Thanks for sharing your pictures. Sorry, I'll learn names. Promise.
Why can't we just eat, drink, and be merry? Oh, we can...;) Ali-G

HiedieHo All!

My gosh! I can't keep up with the days! I need to slow down and look at the calendar. The board is up to page 6 and I'm still on one!

Yesterday ran some errands and then went to PW Bible study which ran later than usual we were so deep in discussion! Today was choir day, so was busy with that.

I'm so far behind on posts will just skim.

MIKA: Welcome! SB is a much easier woe to follow than some plans. Wish you luck and glad you have joined with us.

TEENSY: Your poor GM. Prayers for s speedy recovery. Hope your sauerkraut is good. One of my fav foods!

QUILT: Hope you are feeling better.

TONI: Money left over?!? not on this planet! LOL

PANCHO: Hope your back is better. I have back problems so can sympathize.

JACKK: More people should read your school post. I've seen it before and used it at the nursing home. Believe me! It started discussion!

SUPER: Grandkids you can spoil and then send home to your kids to cope with! A way of getting even!?! I was in my job long enough I was able to take a month at one time. So Germany, australia, Turkey and Hawaii were nice vacations for me. You let the kids live in a place a while before you visit, that way they know their way around! I think we would die if our AC went on the fritz. LA is humid and hot.

GATOR: Loved your butterfly pics!

I've about had it! Time to think about bed. The only things is that by the time, I brush, pee, change, etc. I'll be awake!

Goodnight!

Take care, Shirley

GARDEN: I use Designer Whey. My hubby uses it a lot...like three shakes a day. He is a weight lifter. I use it just to supplement my protein intake at times. I think it says don't use it as a weight loss product because it is not safe to use ONLY that...and some people would... It is low in sugar, and uses splenda and ascelfame K instead of aspartame. Its perfectly legal. I use it with milk and fruit to make a very satisfying protein smoothie for breakfast a lot.

Good morning everyone. Can it be Thursday already!!! I'm doing well I think on getting back on track with SB. Just need to get more vegetables in and can't seem to do that. Had Salmon last night with cauliflower and cheese and a green salad. Later on I was wanting a snack and had some pork rinds. The weather is beautiful here and we've got a nice cool morning. Makes me think of fall.

heartmom-Hope the skillet pizza comes out well for you. The bean soup sounds yummy and easy to do. I haven't made a pot of beans in awhile. Maybe its just our bodies change shape... Who knows what is happening in the world of designing clothes huh. Lucky you a 14. I've been glad a 16 will fit me. But I'm working on it...

woodfrogs- Good for you after all the fairs etc. being only up a pound. And yep you can knock that off...

Monet- Hang in there with that weight. I have to weigh in the morning first thing of the fluid gets me.

Pancho- What a nice thing to look forward to a dinner out. I sure hope you enjoy yourselves... I love to go to Big Lots..... I just went there and picked up a couple of things for Christmas and tucked them away and a fall decoration....

Debelli- Wow you sure got in the exercise... Its so nice to have someone to walk with. Shes got a tiger by the tail with you....

gardenmom- Yep you're right today is a brand new day to start out with. I've never had a protein shake.

Ali-G- Loved your up beat post and can't wait to see some of your recipes. It is amazeing the food you can cook up and still be legal.... How lucky to get a Sugar free package, what a surprise...

Sef- You're right the pages are zooming by. I have to come often to keep up.

I hope I didn't miss anyone. But I'll check back later. Have a happy Thursday....

Hello everyone.

Just popping in again to say hi, and to tell everyone that I saw my doc yesterday and she took me off the cholesterol meds!!! What a weird feeling it was last night when I took my meds to not have that one to take anymore.

Now for a couple of replies and then off to deal with this puppy and the 4 yr. old and dishes.

Deb, It wasn't my idea to get a dog. We had one that I got a year ago and he wasn't a good dog at all. Ended up getting rid of him cause he bit my oldest daughter. I'm more of a cat person myself, but hubby decided he wanted a dog, which was really weird because he's never wanted an animal of any kind in the whole 11 years we've been together. We've named him Biscuit, and I think he's almost got that learned. He's doing pretty good on the potty training now too. We don't let him down the hallway since that carpet was put in right before we moved in here.

Pancho, He hasn't really gone for any birds yet. He does whine a bit when hubby leaves for work though, which is normal I guess since he is hubby's dog. I made sure to tell him that since he wanted this dog and got him that he's gonna be the one to deal with him. One of my friends had a golden retriever. She was pretty hyper at times.

I'll talk to y'all later.

Good Thursday Morning Everyone:wave:

Sitting here, cooling down. Just got in from doing my 4.5 miles this morning. Was tired and my feet hurt, esp. my little toe, it's been bothering me the more walks I take, but I persevered and got out there! That gives me 12.5 miles in a 24 hour period:D Not too shabby.

Went and got my glasses yesterday - what a difference to have them correct, or at least what seems to be correct. Now I have to get use to them.

I don't have any major plans today, just going to try and clean up around here a bit til I have to p/u MICHAEL, then an hour and a half later go to the school AGAIN and p/u LAUREN who's staying late. This is going to be a regular occurence and I'm hoping MICHAEL can get a ride home once in a while to keep me from spending almost 1 1/2 hours just driving back and forth to the school.

Today is RECIPE DAY so if you have any great SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share, please, try to post them on the quarterly board. I posted quite a few the other day, so take a peek. I've been wanting some graham crackers and found a couple recipes I can tweak to make them okay for us to eat. May get adventerous and try them soon.

Going to get right in to the replies...

ZANNE, isn't in funny how cautious we can be when we really put our minds to it and make a commitment to stick to our WOE! You are doing great, and CONGRATS on being down a pound in just 2 days. Keep up the great work!

HEART, a while back, in one of my mags I read an article about the sizing of womens clothes and how each company makes there sizes differently. The jest of the article, from what I remember is the companys are making the clothes bigger and sticking smaller size tags on them. Honestly, I haven't a clue what size I am either, I could be anywhere from a size 2 when I was below my goal to an 8! Just depends on how they've cut the clothes. One reason that I won't buy ANYTHING unless I try it on. Try to drink more water when you are retaining fluid, it should flush it out of you. As for the clothes - how about taking your old ones to consignment to sell and then take that $ to buy new ones, that way, DH can't complain-then again, men complain even if there's nothing to complain about! Did you try any of those recipes - what did you think of them?

PANCHO, CONGRATS for being down this week - you're where I want to be again! Do try to look more in to you fiber. From what you posted you did have fiber, but I don't think anywhere near the recommended amount. The bread, unless it's really high fiber may have 2-3 grams, not sure with the flax if that boosts it up a lot, I don't use it, though I should. Canteloupe and grapes don't have that much fiber, better if you can go for berries - just my 2 cents:) I'm sure you and DH will have a great time Saturday - you surely deserve a night out together. Who's watching the baby?

GARDEN, it sure doesn't help to beat yourself up about eating PB&J, it could of been worse and besides, one meal doesn't make you gain fat. Remember, it takes 3500 calories in EXCESS of what you should be eating to gain 1 pound and I highly doubt you did that. Have you ever tried peanut butter flour? Maybe if you got some, and made a shake with that in it it would help your cravings - best of all, it's only 33 calories and 2 1/2 grams of fat per tablespoon. I just ad a pinch of salt to it and the water and viola, I've got PB that's low in fat and calories that tastes pretty darn good. If you don't have your protein shakes you can do what I do and take a cup of milk, 8 ice cubes, 1tsp carob powder, 1/2 tsp extract, I use coffee (or you can brew some strong coffee) add a dash of cinnamon and sweetener and you've got yourself a thick and satisfying shake! I don't know about the protein drinks you mentioned but if you are reading the labels and find nothing that wouldn't be on this WOE I don't see where there should be a problem.

COUNTRY, thanks for the kuddos - I'm sure one day we'll both be called tiny again!!!:D

TONI, the tilapia is so light and there was NO fish taste whatsoever. I actually was able to go get more yesterday and look forward to making it for either lunch or dinner today. It was fresh, not previously froze, which I think also makes a difference. It was only $3.99 a pound which is pretty good. I've been stuck with eating salmon for so long it was such a nice change to find something else I liked.

GATOR, I'll do a little searching and see what I can come up with in regards to the metabolic tune-up. I actually was skimming through the new CURVES book and that's where I saw it first. Cool pics - thanks for sharing.

BOB, I've been wearing Birks for years and love them. I found a style I loved years ago and bought another pair before they went into the endangered speices list of Birks. It does take a little getting use to, but I'm sure you're feet will love you once you've broken them in;) Have you hear about the TD that's out near Tampa area - suppose to bring lots of rain, or so they say. Oh, I can just see you going thru the FRESH MARKET!!!

MONET, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you and TOM! Hope you enjoy your dinner together followed by a romantic evening at home;)

MIKA, sounds like you live in quite an interesting area! You may have many foods that you can eat available in the HFS you have around and just haven't really taken a notice to them. I can go in to a HFS I've been in time and time again and always find something new or unnoticed before. As for the Wax Orchards, you mentioned it was a syrup, like pancake? Okay, I looked at the website and from what it says on there is different than what you have, that is, if I'm looking at the correct info. It says the syrup, based on 1TBL has 7.5 grams of carbs, 1/2 gram of fiber, 30 calories and 7 grams of sugar. An exchange would be 1tsp= free(10 cal.), 3tsp=1/2 fruit (30 cal.). If you were only using a TBL I would probably say no problem as some of those sugar grams are from the actual fruit.

Wood, I'd say you did quite well considering all you were surrounded by. Who knows, maybe that gain isn't from the fair and could just be water that would of happened anyhow. You'll get it off quickly, I'm sure;)

ALI, it's good that you aren't being a slave to the scale - it's terrible when you are, like I was. It's also important to realize how good you are feeling, like you are doing. Losing weight is so much more than just the numbers you can see on the scale. What did you get in your SF package? Looking forward to seeing your recipes posted! Cool you are meeting with your old classmates. I hope when our 25th reunion comes around next year I'll feel like going. I haven't gone to a single one they've had because I was always too embarrassed to show people that I got bigger and bigger over the years-I've missed out on a lot just from being over weight.

SEF, hey girl, whatever you are taking that keeps you going and going like the Energizer Bunny - would you send me some????

JEC, that's great you are off those meds! Cute name for the new pooch. I hope he's a better dog than the other one you had - it's sad when that happens. You'll have to post a pic of him one day!

Caught up - YIPEE!!! I'm going to skiddadle and go eat something - it's almost 10am and I haven't had a lick of food yet.

Will check in later!

Toodles

AMHLAWYER intended it to get here on this board so I'm just copying it over here for all to see:)

Okay, okay... well ladies I've been AWOL for a good 7 weeks now. I fell HORRIBLY Off Plan and it's taken me a while to get my *ss off the ground, dust off and re-commit to eating well again. Many of you probably don't even know who I am I've been gone so long! Well, July 29th was my birthday so of course I used the occasion to justify going off plan for pretty much the whole month of July... Then vacations and August rolled around with all it's parties and bar-b-ques, festivals... and I kept telling myself that "techinically" it was still my "birthday month" given I was within a MONTH of my birthday (can you believe the lies we tell ourselves? And that we go along with them willingly? I mean, I'm an educated woman and I can convince myself of that crap?)

So my original goal was to be at 155 by Thanksgiving. Well, given that I'm still 182. Tthankfully (and by the grace of God) I didn't gain a gazillion pound (although the way I ate, I can't imagine How I didn't!) I only gained about a pound. Phew! I wasn't even weighing myself (too terrified!!)

So now my goal is to lose 15 lbs by Thanksgiving. I'm dreading Halloween (my favorite holiday) as I usually stock up on piles of candy early in October and munch my way through it until the little beggars come along (at which point I barely have enough for THEM!)

Well, I'm back ladies and could use some moral support. Just coming back and posting makes me feel a bit better. I'm going to go catch up (as much as I can having been gone so long!) Thanks for listening to my confession!

Did anyone hear about this on their local news channels the other night. Thought I'd pass the articles along...

British study: Hormone that curbs appetite cut food intake by nearly a third in obese
Wed Sep 3, 4:58 PM ET

By STEPHANIE NANO, Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Giving overweight people an extra dose of a hormone that tells the brain when to stop eating appears to curb their appetites by nearly a third, pointing to a potential new treatment for obesity.

The researchers at Imperial College London had previously shown that the hormone could suppress the appetites of lean people. But they worried it would not work in obese people because studies of another appetite-suppressing hormone, leptin, had proved disappointing.

"We had to do a second trial to see if obese people were as sensitive" to the hormone, said researcher Dr. Stephen R. Bloom. The answer: "Yes, they are. They're just as sensitive as thin people."

In the small study, both obese and lean people ate about 30 percent less from a buffet lunch after they were given a dose of the hormone, PYY3-36, to trick the brain into thinking they had already eaten. The research also showed lower natural levels of PYY in the obese, which may explain why they are hungrier and overeat, Bloom said.

The findings are published in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine (news - web sites).

Bloom said long-term use of the hormone would have to be studied before it could be developed into a treatment for obesity that would consist of injections given before meals.

"We haven't yet shown you get actual weight reduction. We've only shown you eat less," Bloom said.

The findings could also point to a more natural treatment for obesity: Bloom said a high-fiber diet is believed to boost the body's production of PYY.

The PYY hormone, one of a number of hormones that stimulate or suppress hunger, is released by the gut as you eat. It tells the part of the brain that controls appetite when you are full.

The research is "a hopeful step in the right direction," said obesity researcher Dr. David E. Cummings of the University of Washington in Seattle. "But there's a fairly large difference between reducing food intake for one meal and actual weight loss."

Dr. Rudolph L. Leibel, an obesity researcher at Columbia University in New York, said it is unlikely that PYY alone will turn out to be the "magic bullet" against obesity, but it may prove useful in combination with other drugs. He said the body has backup systems that kick in to resist the loss of body fat — the reason so many people who lose weight gain it back.

"We can't fool Mother Nature yet," he said.

Currently, there are only a few prescription weight-control drugs, and they produce only modest weight loss. They work by suppressing the appetite through a brain chemical or by blocking fat from being absorbed.

The British researchers recruited 24 people: 12 obese and 12 lean. Their food consumption was monitored twice, once after an intravenous dose of synthetic PYY and once after getting a harmless saline solution. Two hours later, they were given a large buffet lunch.

After the PYY dose, the obese ate 30 percent fewer calories than they did after the dummy solution. The lean people ate 31 percent less. The PYY continued to curb their appetites for 12 hours, with the obese eating 26 percent less and the lean eating about 34 percent less, based on food diaries they kept.

The PYY did not affect food consumption from 12 hours to 24 hours after the infusion.

Without the extra dose, PYY levels were lower in the obese participants than in the lean, but the researchers said it is not known whether that is a cause of obesity or a consequence.

"If it's a consequence of obesity, it would explain why once people become overweight, it is very difficult for them to reverse it," Bloom said. "They don't feel as full after food as normal people do as a result of their obesity."

Good Thursday morning all:

I get to go to the OB for my annual today (oh, goody).

I know this is going to sound petty to some of you (this is a weight loss support group, after all), but I am really at a maintenance stage now and would like to continue here for support. Once I started this woe, I promised myself that I wouldn't put the bad stuff in my system again. I mean the most processed food I eat these days are the Triscuits. I will always eat this way from now on, but I really want to know if our bodies know when we've lost enough weight. I was at 122.5 this morning, and I could technically get down to 118 or so, but I don't want to go too low. I know that sounds corny, but I don't want to. I was at 114 once after a breakup with a long-time boyfriend, and I looked really too skinny!! I keep hoping that I am gaining muscle where I am losing fat. Any input would be appreciated.

My gym (Naturally Women) is having a pep rally seminar on Saturday from 12-2. They are going to have appetizers, free samples of products from the nutrition center, motivational stories, and free body composition. I would like to have my body fat measured again since it's been a few months. I will let you know how it goes!

I'm going to work on the fiber, Deb. So far today I had steel cut oats (8 grams fiber) with flax seed meal (no sure count on that).
Yesterday I went to El Pollo Loco and got a Caesar Salad for lunch; it was tasty, but a little pricey.

Gator: If you are not seeing results with the 2000mg of Carnitine, maybe you should try the Carnitine Tartrate; that made the difference for me. If you up it to 4000mg you may not even be able to sleep at night; it really boosts your energy levels. Good luck!!

Debelli: That would be AWESOME to have a walking buddy; I hope she comes through for you often. Thanks for the input on the fiber; what is the daily recommended amount anyway? I do eat frozen blueberries and blackberries often for a snack (probably every 2-3 days). I know the flax seed meal has fiber in it (I thought quite a bit) but I'm not sure how much. I threw the packaging away after I poured it into a tupperware bowl and put in fridge. Also, when I eat a salad, it pretty much covers a large dinner plate, so I know I'm getting some there too. Thanks for the kind words. I know you will be right here with me before you know it. You are right on track with eating and walking....you'll be meeting me soon!!

Ali: What's a sugar-free kitchen package? When is your little reunion planned? I actually have my 20 year reunion coming up in about 3 years. I am sure I will be getting a call in the next 12-18 months to help with the planning of it. I was on the committee for our ten year reunion. I was student body pres. in high school, so they figured I'd want to help with the planning. It was fun. I hope you drop your weight in time for your little party!

Toni: I wish the weather was beautiful here. The heat is just not letting up. It was 110 degrees yesterday.

jecrites: Congrats on going off your meds!! When our dog was a puppy and I would take her out to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, she wanted to play and she would run from me. I'd be running around the back yard in my jammies at 3:a.m. chasing a dog with endless amounts of energy. One night, I slipped and fell while trying to grab her and scratched up my leg, thigh and butt. She got her first spanking that night.

Lawyer: Welcome back; you were missed. Good luck getting to your goal weight by the Holidays. That is the hardest part of the year for most of us, I am sure. DO NOT BUY YOUR CANDY EARLY IN THE MONTH FOR HALLOWEEN!! Actually if you wait until Halloween day, a lot of stores start marking it down. OR ELSE, get something you don't like that kids do....like pixie stix, dum-dums....you know what I mean!

Well, I guess I better go play with the kiddies and then jump in the shower.....gotta be clean for the ob/gyn appt. Not that it matters, I'll be all sweaty when I get there; it's supposed to get to 109 degrees today...yuck! I am ready for the fall weather.

I didn't find a divorce kit to bid on on E-bay, but did find some pants for myself that I am bidding on (no, not just one pair, either).;)

Have a great day!!!

Well, I've completed 3 full days 100% OP!!!!!!:cb:

Silly me bought DH some chips and I think because I knew they were in the house, I started to crave them last night while watching TV. I was still quite full from dinner, but still went rumaging around the fridge for a salty snack. I got myself a half dozen olives, but was satisfied after only 4, so I put the others back! I actually felt gross just watching DH eating the chips--he said he was stuffed (it was a big family size bag!) but still kept eating till the whole bag was done! Before I would have helped him eat them.

I looked at myself naked in the mirror yesterday and I think I can already see a change! I had to keep looking cause I couldn't believe it.

AND I got in my workout (finally!) yesterday.

I didn't follow the dinner I had planned for last night. I liked the sound of TONI's dinner from the other day and had decided on that early in the day. My guys had spaghetti and meatsauce and I had the meatsauce over fried cabbage like TONI had done. It was yummy! Thanks TONI for the idea. Even tho I didn't follow my written meal plan, I had made a plan early in the day and stuck to it.

-------

One thing I have found very interesting in the South Beach book, is the fact that MSG is actually made from BEETS!!!!! He's mentioned this a couple times in the book. I always thought MSG was some form of salt. I couldn't believe it was made from beets. No wonder it can screw up someone doing low glycemic eating!

I'm trying to keep up with at least reading the posts and checking in at least once a day to keep me on track. I think it's working!

thanks for being a such a great bunch:grouphug:

I got up this morning and finally stepped on the stupid scale. I'm still up 2 pounds above my low. I figured it would have only been around a pound by now. One day of bingeing equals 1 whole week getting it off! You would think I'd learned my lesson by now. I'm hoping by Monday I will be back at my low. Almost all the puffiness was gone by yesterday evening and then some of it was back again today. I just want to scream. I absolutely hate that a darn doctor won't take me seriously when I say I have a problem with fluid. There response is cut back on salt, drink lots of water. Well, I do that- heck, I drink more water than ANYONE I know. Even people comment on my water intake, and if I don't get at LEAST a gallon in, then I retain and I'm back up on the scales. I tell you, this part is really frustrating for me. Anyway, I found a low carb site that has recipes that have been rated. I had to write them down since printer is broke. I found some that really sound yummy. When I go to the grocery store, I'm going to buy the ingredients I need. Some that I'm going to try this coming week, are Toni's skillet pizza, Bob's squash, a broccoli casserole, grilled stuffed jalepenos- I'll let you know how they turn out. I hate to see what my grocery bill is going to be. I normally spend $100- $125 weekly depending on if I need household items or not. My husband's philosophy is that we may be late on the bills, but at least we're gonna eat! Alot is spent on the kids snacks and hubby's junkfood. I buy him 2 family bags of Doritos a week. Last week, he ate both of them by Monday! He also eats a box(8 ct) of popcorn weekly. I've been telling him how unhealthy that is. Yesterday, he asked me not to get popcorn this time, instead buy him some cashews-much better choice. Now if only he'd cut back on the cokes and chips. Anyway, Boogie is sick- seems like he has a virus. He's been spending most of the day on the couch. His heart rate was 103 earlier, so I know he had fever although I couldn't get the thermometer to read right. Gave him some tylenol and it's in the 90's now. Anyway, I've just rambled and rambled- time to get off the computer and exercise.

Just got in from work. I slept like crap last night, but I am not sleepy now, due to the phentermine I took this morning. I am going to lay down and read and try and nap, so I won't be falling asleep in my plate during our romantic dinner tonight. Not sure were we are going, but I am hoping for the seafood place. I am in the mood for something seafood...

Work was fun today. There was a full time decorator there, so I could do the stuff that is brainless, and therefore I can get a lot done! I love not having to do the special orders! ;)

PUSSYWILLOW: I would love to help you with your oatmeal cookies, but I don't know which recipe you used, and what is in it that might have lumped up like that. Sounds like you were missing some wet ingredient. Did it call for eggs? Are you sure the amounts were correct? Lactaid milk is fine to use.

Pancho--I do use the carnitine tartrate. I think I read the same book you suggested. That's the one my doctor loaned me. So I made sure I got that. I am down another .5 pound today, so maybe it just took my upping the dosage. I started at 1000 mg per day and I just moved up to 2000 3 days ago.

Debbie--Thanks for the e-mails. I'll check those sites out.

I don't see why you can't drink one just once or twice. Too many of those things (like the Atkins bars or any of that stuff with malitol kind of ingredient) can play havoc with your insulin - some people can tolerate them, some can't.

Eat a spoonful of sugar free peanut butter - keep peanuts around - cheese- triscuits (just a few)... Good luck at your parent's house!

Amhlawyer- glad to see you back- only a pound gain? I'm jealous.

I'm back on the computer, fixing to jot down more legal recipes. TOM decided to show up after exercising earlier, great. Like I need anymore added weight right now. Mine usually shows up on day 2 of TOM. Oh, yea- I'm fixing spaghetti tonight and want to skip the noodles. You guys said cabbage? Do I just put some shredded cabbage with some salt and pepper in a skillet or do I add butter or oil to it? If anyone knows, please reply quickly. Thanks.

jGood afternoon everyoago. I'm tired today for some reason and just want to lay down and sleep.. Guess I'll have to just ride it out.
ne. Had my pot pie for lunch and then some dried apricots for a snack a little while ecrites- A great big congradulations on getting off the cholesterol meds. I take 80 mg. Lipitor on top of another kind. I go the 10th to see if mine has went down any. I hope so...

Debelli- Wow you are really doing the exercise.. I'll bet your toe is sooo sore. Have to go look at the recipe files and see if theres some new ones.

AMHLawyer- I know how that goes with one day turning into more. Thats what kind of happened to me. But we can do this... One day at a time...

Pancho- Your problems sure don't sound petty to me. I think SB and this support board are a lifetime thing. And you are right in coming here. And of course you don't want to lose to much and must be watch ful of that too. I imagine its hard to find the right mix of not losing and not gaining...

Zanne- Yippee three days OP is so great, you're on your way..... I'm glad the meatsauce over cabbage turned out good. It sure did for me.

Heartmom- I hate when a doctor won't listen to you. You alone know your own body. I would just keep insisting that you're having a problem. Sure would like to know more about those grilled stuffed jalapeno's. I hope Boogie kicks this virus soon.

willow- Sorry about the cookies. I don't know the recipe but maybe something got left out of it in writing the recipe down.

Monet- Don't you just love work days like that...... Hope you get some sleep tonight. I think thats whats wrong with me today. I must not have slept well.

beachfan-Hope things settle down and you get relax a bit..

GAtorgal- How long after you start taking the carnitine tartrate can you tell its working?

angehaley- Wow what a job you've got...... But soon stuff will settle down. I can't find the peanut butter flour anywhere either. I have some of those advantage shakes but haven't tried them yet. They sound legal to me...

Hi, just a vvery quick note to let you know I'm around.

Yesterday just fell apart. DH woke up and informed me he needed an appointment to have a tooth pulled. News to me. Men! he never even mentioned he had a tooth ache. Not me, if something hurts me you know about it. Had to arrange all that. DD calls and said new camera we just bought for photo class is wrong. she is coming home so we can exchange it $300++. Then calls crying, as someone has rear ended her. Not hurt, just shook up.

Then this morning I had to pick up 20 dozen Krispy Creme Donuts for a safety presentation. Man that was torture. Plus the guy at the door tried to give me a hot glazed do-nut while I waited on my order. Man it took all I had to say no thank you. But I did and avoided all 20 dozen too. The day has totally been crazy with a capital "C" and I just got into the office at 3:30.

No time to read posts and reply. Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I will get to read and post. I can't go into the weekend w/o your support.

Did get to get my wt training and floor exercises in. DH didn't feel like walking and I didn't want to leave him. Probably the same for tonight.

Hope to see you all tomorrow.

Jackie.

Just a couple of replies.

Deb, I'd like to post a pic of him, but I can't resize the dang pics and for some reason it won't go through e-mail either. I tried to send my mom and hubby's dad a pic of him but it wouldn't go.

Pancho, Geez. The dog we used to have would run around like an idiot outside when he would get out off his leash. Thank goodness this one doesn't do that, at least not yet. Luckily Biscuit sleeps pretty much all night, and also I'm not the one who has to get up with him. Hubby wanted him so he's got to deal with him. That's one of our "rules" Whoever brings in an animal has to take care of it. I dealt with the other dog cause I brought him home and hubby didn't like him at all, and I deal with my cat, hubby don't like cats all that much. So far it's working.

Off to make sure kids get all their homework done and work on dinner. Talk to y'all later.

Anyone watching Oprah? Great weight loss stories. Wow, you wouldn't believe the before and after. Although, one of the girls HAD to of had at least a tummy tuck. SHe was around 400 lbs and now she's a tiny thing that came out sporting clothes that showed off her tummy(toned and flat). I just don't believe you can loose that much weight and have a flat, toned tummy no matter how much exercise. But even so, she looked fabulous. Makes me want to kick my weight loss up a notch. I did notice that a couple of them said they lost it by watching their sugar and carbs.

Hello everyone.....

We are home again, and the fishing was pretty slow this time out. But I did catch a 20 inch rainbow trout the first thing Tuesday morning!! And a 19 inch Walleye yesterday morning!! We are grilling the trout for dinner tonight....

Not sure what is going on with my weight. I haven't been eating any different, but I have gained about 3 pounds. I know that I usually gain a couple with TOM, but have finished that as of Tuesday. I also seem to be retaining water every time we go down there. I still drink my minimum of 96 oz. Could it just be the heat?? It has been hotter than all get out. Upper nineties still. And when we are there, my ankles are swelling again. That hasn't happened for quite awhile. Any suggestions??

Thanks to all of you for the comforting words reguarding my GM. They did surgery yesterday to remove the pin that had moved into her joint. Mom said they put some kind of tube into her leg where the blood clot is so that it can't break off any pieces?? Not quite sure I understand that one. But she should be home again soon.

Toni--We are having fresh trout for dinner tonight. Dh is putting it on the grill. We don't eat enough fish, even though we love to catch them. We can most of them. It does make a super tuna salad, even though it is not tuna, he he.

Jec-- Didn't get to read your previous post yet.....a new puppy?? I would have a hundred of them if they would just stay puppies. I love them. But, they grow up, so I have to satisfied with three. Or find a new husband!

Deb-- Sounds like you are back with a vengeance. You are putting in alot of miles!! I miss my exercise when we go to the lake.....go figure!! Glad the glasses are finally working for you. It's nice to be able to see huh?? School is back in session, and you are back to being a chauffeur again, huh? The things we do for our children!! Even though we love them to death, they can be a pain!

Pancho-- Congrats on being on maintenance now.....I for one do think our bodies know when to stop. But that is just my opinion. Here is what my package of Flax Seed Meal says.
Bob's Red Mill Flax Seed Meal,
2 TBL,
60 cal,
4.5 g Fat,
0 g SF,
0 chol,
0 sod,
4 g carbs,
4 g fiber,
0 sugars,
3 g protein.

Hope this helps.

Zanne-- You go girl!! You are doing great! And I would like to say welcome back too.

Heart-- Sorry that your weight is not coming off as fast as you would like. I have heard that one day of "cheating" will set you back three days. So if you gain on that "cheat" it will be more than that. I have been retaining water since we started going to the lake too. I don't know why either. I drink tons of water, and we have a bathroom on the boat, so it is not like I limit myself on those days. After my dh got out of the hospital for his back surgery, he started SB's with me. He has dropped 25 pounds, but now he is letting himself splurge sometimes again. I just cringe when I see him eating Fritos, or regular icecream..... he for one should know better, he lost this same 25 pounds with me on PP and then he started eating his old way again....when will they learn?? Sure hope Boogie is feeling better soon. It is rough to have your baby not feeling well. Take care, and let us know how those recipes turn out. I tried one for grilled stuffed jalepeno's......do you wrap them in bacon?? If so....they were fantastic.

Willow-- Not sure what happened.....what recipe did you use?? There are a couple posted, so am not sure what could have happened. Just keep trying on the foods....read, read , read, you will get it right.

Monet-- Have a great night out, and Congrats to you and Tom, may you share many more years together!!

Beach-- Take it easy......see you when you are able to get with us!!

Gator-- So you are a "mommy" again!! The pictures that you post to share with us are beautiful.

Ange-- Sounds like that is quite a project you have there. Glad it is you and not me! I am not good at painting. Hate the prep work that is involved. I think the shakes should be okay in moderation.

Jack-k-- You did great.....don't know that I would have been able to resist all of those temptations. Glad that dd is okay and wasn't hurt. That can be very upsetting. See you tomorrow.

Take care everyone......hope I didn't miss anyone. If I did, please forgive me. It was not on purpose.

Evening Every Buddy!!!

Well, we've decided to start home tomorrow (Friday) instead of waiting till Saturday...it will give me two days to recoup and I believe that I will need it...I'm so tired that I don't even think I'm going to pick up my BEANS!!!! ...y'all know BOB, and that's just not like me!
I will stop down in GA and pick up some more MATERS though...

:rain: :rain: :rain: Terrible storm this afternoon, and I'm thinking that it might be from that TD that DEBBIE mention to me. It's supposed to move across to the Atlantic, and there is always the possibility of it regaining its speed and developing into a hurricaine!!! SO...I need some good travel thoughts for tomorrow from all of you.

Went to a little shop down town TR today and OH MY GAWD...they had the BEST candles there...Yes, I bought three big ones...I love candles that hold their smell, and my cousin has some of these...I don't know the name cause their in the car, but I will post it when I get home...Y'all have got to get some if they are in your area anywhere...

I ate some HOT CHINESE CHICKEN at lunch today, and I'm all swolled up  Serves me right, and I knew it would happen...

Suzanne....I have the SOUTH BEACH book and I just loved the reading...It was so easy and the DOC explained it so well...Good luck with it...

LAURIE...I saw the show today...all those people amazed me! And what was so tremendous.....NO SURGERY....Sorry BOOGIE is sick...squeeze him for me...

I'll get to everyone when I get home...

Did anyone get this email today?????

A Different Type of Prayer:

Heavenly Father,
Help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a
single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook
dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments
with her children.

Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who
can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student,
balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his
student loans for next semester.

Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same
spot every day (who really ought to get a job!) is a slave to addictions
that
we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.

Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the
store aisles and blocking our shopping progress is savoring this moment,
knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will
be
the last year that they go shopping together.

Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the
greatest gift is love. It is not enough to share that love with those we
hold
dear. Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all
humanity. Let us judge not lest we be judged, and quick
to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

Hello all:

I wanted to try to jump on so I don't get too far behind on posts.

Went to the OB today for the dreaded pap test, and now I'm spotting and crampy. That always happens to me; I have a sensitive cervix. My Doc is leaving tomorrow to fly to China to adopt two baby girl twins. They are precious!

Zanne: Congrats on the 3 days OP. I never would have imagined MSG to have beets in it. I never knew what it was, just thought it was something to stay away from.

heart: Hope Boogie feels better soon. I missed Oprah, but couldn't agree with you more. I am 122-124 pounds now, but my tummy still has loose skin from my pregnancies; when I bend over it's kinda saggy (too much info, I know). I can't imagine not having saggy skin after losing over 250 pounds. I'm sure she had a nip and tuck too. Which is fine for those who need to.

Gator: I think that I read that it takes 2-3 days for the Carnitine to kick up the weight loss. How much are you trying to lose?

angehaley: Good luck with everything. I hope the chaos dies down soon. I think Atkins shakes are an o.k. alternative when there is nothing else.

Toni: Thanks for understanding; you guys are so great!!

Jack: I always thought men were the opposite; they seem to complain if they have a cold. We have to hold down the fort, take care of everyone else and ourselves, and you don't hear us complain much when we are sick. Good job on the Krispy Kreme turn down; that's one test I haven't passed yet. I was only confronted with it once, and I took the darn thing. I said I was only going to take a bite and then give the rest to hubby, but he took too long getting back so I just finished it off. Oh well!

Teensy: Welcome home! Thanks for the info. on the flax meal; I guess I had 16 grams fiber for breakfast with that and my oatmeal; not so bad.

Well, I better run and get dinner goin. I am going to brown some ground turkey with onions & garlic and add some pasta sauce and throw over some spaghetti with a large salad.

I will check in tomorrow. Wow, it will be Friday already!!

Yes, I'm back on the computer again. I'd rather get on the computer than watch TV, which is what DH is doing.

BOB- yes, they didn't have surgery to LOOSE weight, but nothing was said about plastic surgery afterwards.

Teensy- Hot weather makes me swell also-and Boogie. When you're outdoors, you should increase your water intake. Oh, and the peppers are suppossed to be wrapped in bacon. So now I hope I can find some good lookin' peppers. I got all excited about finding some recipes that seems easy and don't require me to buy a whole lot of ingredients. Hubby told me to hush, he was tired of hearing about food.

I ate the fried cabbage with my spaghetti. It was a pretty good substitute. I'll be eating it again(I fried mine in butter).

Jackie - honey, you deserve a big freaking round of applause for managing to avoid 20 DOZEN Krispy Creme donuts! I don't even really care for donuts, but being IN the shop and handling 20 DOZEN... well, I would've been seriously tempted! That's just amazing!

BOB - still watching Big Brother? Honestly, that's where I've been spending all my free time... being a voyeur to those sick, twisted little hamster-humans!

Computer just became free but I'm off to bed tonight - early. Just wanted to give a holler and tell you I won't be around tomorrow morning to post, probably won't be back until late afternoon, going to help my GF and Aunt with the estate sale tomorrow.

Oh, ANGE, I'll post the name of the company with the PB FLOUR, it was the cheapest I could find.

Pancho--50 pounds! That's a lot of carnitine.

Toni--I've been taking the carnitine tartrate for about 3 weeks total, maybe a day or 2 less. Anyway, I started at 1000 mg. and then after about 1.5 weeks added another 500 mgs. Then about 3 days ago I added another 500 mgs. so now I'm up to 2000 per day. I've just started noticing a difference in the weight, which has been impossible to come off, even though I usually am a "saint."

BOB---That was PERFECTTT! How correct that was about football. There actually is a pig shaped BBQ grill on the way to the stadium as we walk. It is huge and the "exhaust" is the curly pig's tail. And I hope that the Gators "get that sum--- and break his legs" when we play scUM. LOL!!!

Quick report on my evening....

We went to a seafood restaurant called The Red Snapper. It was pretty good. The waiter was not so good, but the food was delicious. We both got snapper, mine was in ginger sauce, Tom got it almondine. Both were excellent. We also got a appetizer called Oysters Sara. It was two fried oysters on a bed of creamed spinach. Made me wish I had ordered fried oysters, cause the one I got was fab! I did eat the bread they put on the table. It was homemade french bread, and very light and good. It was NOT legal, but that is the only non-legal thing I ate. I told them to hold the rice and potatoes, even! Came home and had decaf coffee and spent some time with my dear hubby of 27 years. Now we are getting ready to hit the pillows... I am exhausted ! I slept very poorly last night and did not get a nap this afternoon.

GATOR: Do you recommend the Carnitine yet? I am waiting to see what you think before I try it.

BOB: Have a good trip home! Where are you stopping in Georgia to get maters? Too bad you can't stop and say hi. I am only about five miles off 285.

LAW: Good to see you back! We missed you!

Ok, the yawns are getting to me! Sweet dreams all!

ok ladies I need a little help. I am at the no lose zone, and seem to be craving bread and peanut butter. I probably do not drink enough water after reading some of the treads on here. Is it best too cut meats to maybe every other day. Have more veggies and fruit. I was told it was better to eat bread with olive oil or butter on it than by its's self. My darn refrig calls me about 6 to 8 times at night and so far i only answer about two, for some sugar free jello, or celery with peanutbutter on it.
Jack k ...toni48...debelli...pancho...sef..thank you for the kind notes, I am beginning to like being a minority on here.

You all have a Super weekend , darn seems like we were just their yesterday.

Keep a pretty smile on your face and it will become catchy, beauty is only skin deep, real beauty comes from within and lets all get with the program and see if we can each lose two pounds by next thursday or more.

I knowIi like this board and hope to get to know each and every one of you, you have kind and tender hearts.

Good evening everyone--

Here is my list of fiber foods today-- seems like a lot of food, but my total calories only came to 1309 today. Maybe not enough!!

Fiber One-14
Cantaloupe-1
Peanuts-2
Apple-4
WW Bread-2
Cucumber-1
Tomato-1
Nectarine-2
Squash-3
Broccoli-5

Total-35g fiber!

**Question** *I know that tomatoes are really a fruit, but should I limit my eating of them?? Or is it alright to eat a couple a day? They are coming like crazy in the garden still.

Fruit-- Sounds like you had a super duper time. Glad you are back. Hope the damage is minimal.

Monet-- Glad you had a great dinner. Sounds like it was delish.....

Pancho-- Atleast you are done for a year now. I just had mine done too, now the dreaded bills are arriving!! Thank God for health insurance!!

Heart-- I am drinking atleast 96 oz of water a day, most days more. I surely thought that was enough. You will love the grilled peppers if you like hot......the first ones I did were fabulous. The next batch dh got to eat because they were to spicey for me!! Would like to see your skillet pizza recipe, after you try it.

Superdave-- Why not have a piece of WW bread with some peanut butter, (nsa of course) and get rid of that craving?? Wouldn't that be better than finally caving and going overboard. It is perfectly legal. I personally think you need your lean meats everyday. You certainly need a certain amount of protein daily. That is what feeds your muscle. I wouldn't cut it out, just eat the leanest cuts. JMHO.

Sweet dreams everyone. Check in tomorrow!

Superdave - I regularly indulge with ONE slice of stone ground whole wheat bread and I slather it up with a good helping of sugar free peanut butter (trick, when you buy the "natural," no sugar added peanut butter, stir it up good to mix the oil back into it and then keep it in the refrigerator so it won't separate) and a thin layer of sugar free or whole-fruit (no sugar added) jelly. Obviously, I fold it over for a half a sandwich. It's a satisfying meal/snack that I usually have for breakfast while I'm commuting to work. The protein in the peanuts and the sgww bread together keep the glycemic load down and it does keep me full for a while. Plus it's quite a treat. If you're early on in this diet (I've been away a while) you would certainly not want to do this at every meal, but if you're craving it and you can keep it in check, substituting it for a meal with a salad and a lot of water could certainly be okay.

Good morning all- I'm getting ready to go camping this week-end. I hope to just have SB legal food with us so I won't be tempted to eat something else. Theres also a nice walking path where we're going so I'll be able to walk. I've got to do grocery shopping this morning and get so much stuff ready. Will go pack clothes in just a minute. Got my walk in on the treadmill this morning. Also a load of wash is going. We grilled pork chops and had ranch beans and a big green salad for dinner last night.

Heartmom- That was good on Oprah yesterday. I can't wait to see the 2 hour special with Katy Couric and Dr. Phil on weight. Wonder when thats coming on. I want to be sure and watch it. Hows Boogie today? I swell in the heat to no matter how much I drink.

Teensybean- Its good to hear your GM surgery is over and shes going to get to go home. I hope she heals fast. Wow you really caught the fish and I'm so jealous. Yummy grilled fresh trout! I guess it doesn't get much better than that. My DH is doing what yours is with his eating. I want to nag him but don't cause it won't help he'll just have to learn. But I'm sure not cooking two different meals anymore, LOL he's stuck with SB type meals.

Bob- Sorry you're going to miss your beans. It sounds like you're having a rough time health wise. Hope you get home and rest well. I love candles too. Those good ones that hold there smell....

Pancho- Hope you're feeling better today after your pap smear. I have that trouble to with the cramping and bleeding. It shoots the rest of my day down when I get one.

Amhlawyer- Are those your children under your name. They're just beautiful... OOOO I watch Big Brother too, I'm so hooked on it..

Debelli- Have a good day helping out with the Estate SAle. I sure hope it all goes good.

GatorGal- I think I'll check the price out of carnitine tartrate when I'm in town grocery shopping . If its not to expensive I might try it. Each pound off me is like pulling teeth....

Monet- Your dinner out sounds wonderful. And you did so good. What a nice anniversery. And WOW 27 years is a long time. Hope you get a good nights sleep...

fruitloupe- Happy Birthday and its great you're having such a good time. See ya next week!

SuperDave-I believe the water should be 64 oz. a day. And it takes a couple of weeks to get rid of the cravings. I wouldn't cut the meat to every other day. Maybe you could post what you're eating (your menu) for the day and we could help you. Are you eating more than two starchy carbs a day? Hang in there you can do this!!!!!! Too much caffine can also make you hungry to.

Well better go pack for the camping trip.... Have a great week-end everyone......

Had a chance to get on here so thought I had better take it.

I had cooked a pork roast wed for dinner and then Dh had the tooth cut out so every night he only wants soup or potatoes. So I am hoping the roast will hold over until Monday. SO dinner has been yucky for the last couple nights. Last night was 2 hotdogs and tomato soup. Night before was taco bell salad (no shell). They had KFC. No telling what tonight will bring. After happy hour we usually eat out. I made taco chips last night in case we go Mexican.

No walking this week. But I did get me wt training and added floor exercises. Hopefully next week we will get back to walking.

We have a pool party (gonna be too cold to get in though) and Sunday my great nieces' birthday. They are grilling burgers at the party and will have green beans so I will be fine there. I have to take an appetizer. Anyone have any good ideas? I'm tired of a veggie tray. I am taking caream cheese with this hot jelly over it. I won't partake, but it's something different. Still want to take something I can eat. Sunday shouldn't be a problem, My sister does SB too so she will have stuff for me to eat. I am drinking tea again at happy hour tonite. Worked last week. If I drink anything at all Sat at the party , it will be wine and I may not even do that.

I tried to go back and read the posts that I missed the last 2 days. Probably didn't do a good job with it. I get reading and forget to make notes.

Deb, you will be proud of me. I actually made my own taco chips last nite. Taking them tonight in case we eat Mexican or tomorrow to the party. They weren't too bad. Glad you founhd a walking buddy. It's makes it go quicker.

Amhlawyer, glad to see you back with us. One pound gain is great. Hey I gained 12 just in one week of vacation. Hope you hang around awhile.

Fruit, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I see you are celebrating it well. :hb: :hat: :gift: Next week you can buckle down.

Dave, if you are craving pb and bread, have some. WW bread with peanut butter is fine. Don't know about the olive oil. I have meat every day. Get that water down, it is important. Sometimes you body needs time to adjust. Hang in there. You will lose inches and sometimes not numbers.

Toni, have fun camping. Sounds like you are prepared. Gosh you even got on the TM with all you had to do. Good for you.

Angehaley, We moved in with my dad while our house was being built. It was nice of him, but very cramped with 4 more people. He liked the company though. Hope yous ell your house quickly.

Teensy, that 3 lb gain could be harmones or anything else. I wouldn't worry about it. Just do like you normally do and it will disapear soon.

Bob, have a safe trip home. Loved the prayer.

Jecrites, congrats on getting off the choloestrol meds. that is great.

Zanne, wtg on passing up the chips. You are doing great.

Ali G, Welcome to our group. This is a great board and you will gets lots of support. Please share some recipes.

I sure hope I get to check back later. Have a great OP day and weekend too!

Just popping in to say  & sorry I have been MIA these last 2 weeks. Looks like the board has been busy & there is no way I can even attempt to read thru 130 posts, so I'll just post this quick note then I'm out the door.

I worked an extra 12 hr shift this week for OT. It's just too much. I'm completely worn out. Even though the work is easy, 4 straight 12 hr shifts is just too much.

I did get a relief for almost 2 hrs on Wed so that I coul;d go meet my DD at the dr's office. They did an ultrasound to check on the baby's size. The doc keeps telling her that it's a BIG boy. Well, BOY it definietly is! We got a bird's eye view of that equipment  Anyway, it looks like he's about 7# 10 oz already. She has gained 14 #. He checked her & she is 50% effaced with a soft cervix, so he said it could happen as early as next week, but she's still carrying high. I'm on my way to see her this morning. She will be moving back home with us on the 15th of this month & we should be getting her trailer before the end of the month.

I'm trying to get in some exercise & the eating is not too bad, but the weight is still up so I'm not doing too good in that dept.

Will try to get back to the board later today or tommorrow hopefully.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SUSAN & MISSY !! :hb: :cp: :hat: :gift: :grouphug:

Good Friday morning!

I thought I'd jump on while I could, as the rest of the day is going to be busy, and I probably won't be able to get on much for the next few days, but will find time to at least read some posts.

When I take DD to school, I am going to try to go to the gym with youngest DD; hopefully she will let me work out. When oldest DD gets out of school, we are going to meet a few of her friends from her old preschool for a few hours, and then home to make dinner. I am going to not work out tomorrow morning, and go to the pep rally instead that they are having at the gym from 12-2. I then have to get home and get ready so we can drop the kids off at friend's house by 5p.m., and head out to our dinner. It will be a busy few days, but I prefer it that way. Not sure what is in store for Sunday yet.

Well, I had an order of McDonald's FF yesterday. I shared it with my daughter, but I had most of it. I also had pasta last night (although legal), probably too much. I was up to 124 this morning, so not too worried anymore. If I get too low in the weight department, I'll just eat a little more (ha)!

I have some brand new costumes to advertise on e-bay but am not sure when would be the best time (maybe last week of Sept./first week of October). I haven't even thought much about costumes yet. When do you think would be a good time to list them?

Well, on to some posts:

Gator: You'll get there! The carnitine can only help. I felt like I had so much energy when I was taking it. I just cut back to one 500mg every third day, but may increase it again for vacations or holidays.

Monet: You did awesome; who can pass up on warm fresh baked french bread? I am glad you and your husband enjoyed your night out.

Fruit: Hope you enjoyed your birthday week...time to get serious now!

Dave: No reason why you can't have bread and peanut butter from time to time, as long as you use the natural peanut butter and whole grain bread. You can get preserves that are only sweetened with fruit as well. As was stated already, this is not a good choice everyday, but shouldn't be avoided every once in a while if the craving hits. Turn the volume off on the fridge so it will leave you alone at night. I have found that a satisfying snack, esp. when I crave something at night, has been frozen blueberries or blackberries. I buy them frozen in the bag, and then take a small bowl of them and munch on them. It is sweet, cold and satisfying, and good for you too. I couldn't eat just olive oil or butter on bread - yuck!

Toni: Have fun camping. The best way to stay op is to only bring op stuff, and it sounds as if you are doing that. Great job planning ahead!

Jack: Have a great weekend. You are such a planner, and that is why you are so successful. Happy hour would be tough. I usually just get a Miller Lite or glass of chardonnay when I am out, and slowly sip it. However, I am going to splurge tomorrow evening; I'll be curious to see how I do for WIW next week. Heck, I think I'll weigh in on Monday, that way I'll stay in line on Sunday.

Melf: thanks for checking in even though you are really busy! You must be getting excited to meet your grandson. I am sure you will let us all know when he makes his big debut.

ANYONE UP FOR ANOTHER WEIGH IN MONDAY????? AFTER MY DINNER OUT SATURDAY, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO BE REALLY GOOD ON SUNDAY!!

Well, have a great weekend, and I hope to pop in sometime later on.

Take care!

I forgot to mention that I received my Perfect Food Super Green Formula yesterday. I wanted to list some of the information on the bottle. A serving size is 5 tablets, but that is for people who don't eat enough greens. I think I will take 2 a day in addition to eating my other veggies.

It says: Suggested Use: Take 5 caplets with 8 oz juice or water with our without food. Children may take 1/4 to 1/2 adult serving. Safe for all ages. Non-toxic at any amount.

*Over 45 Nutrient Dense Superfoods
*Nutritional Equivalent of 5-10 servings of veggies
*100% Pre-Digested
*Contains enzyme rich Live Foods
*90+ Amitoxidant Complexes
*100+ Minerals & Vitamins A,B,C,E and K
*Omega 3,6 and 9 fatty acids
*Contains no Lecithin, Apple Fiber, Non Foods or Fillers

Says a lot more, but don't want to bore you or become a sales rep. I'm just excited that I found something that I can take to up my veggie intake. You can't get too much!

WARNING though....when you open the bottle, it smells like you are sitting in the middle of a freshly cut alfalfa field. I think I need to invest in some nose plugs for when I take them:lol: . They are pretty "fresh."

Anyone know anything about Myoplex? I'm thinking of making some of their shakes every once in awhile now that they are using sucralose instead of aspartame. It could help me tone up, I think.

Well, better run, just wanted to share!

Well, today I'm down 1, so only up a pound from my low. But TOM has my pants tight. Oh, well- I'm still going to wear them. Not much going on right now. I skipped my exercise today. TOM has me feeling BLAH. I did some situps and a couple of floor exercises- but not much to really account for anything. Boogie definetly has a cold, already. He went all summer without going to the doc, other than the allergic reaction to ant bites and his cardiology checkups. It's only September, not a good sign. He seems to be feeling better today, though. Playing on the floor with his hotwheels- just snot-nosed and coughing. He has to suffer through it without being able to take anything to ease the symptoms. Later on, I have to do my "Friday" thing. Go pay bills, grocery store, etc. Plus, my cousin who lives about 25 minutes away needs to go to the grocery store. She doesn't drive. She's a "nervous" type person who is a diagnosed schizophrenic and bipolar. Sounds bad, but she's okay as long as she's on her meds. I don't see how she can stay couped up in the house so long. Her hubby works out of town, sometimes 3 weeks at a time. And it's just her and her daughter. What if she had an emergency- she lives out in the county. Anyway, I AM going to stay Legal this weekend and not have the first cheat!! You guys hold me to this, lol. Everyone have a good weekend and remember- keep it LEGAL!

I have been one busy beaver. But I'm not exactly sure what's been keeping me busy...LOL Okay I really do, I've been downloading stationery for incredimail...I am an incredimail junky! :)

I've been eating pretty good and walking. We missed a few days because of the rain but we are caught up for the week. We just won't get to take Sat. morning off like we normally do. Of course the weight isn't budging....it's a test...I know it is...LOL Some days I am truly okay with it and others I'm pouty. Today I am okay cause God is good and so is life. I'm not my weight. Please remind me again on pouty days.

Super Dave...I hear ya about the fridge. When I wake up around midnight I head straight for the thing. My kids ask me..mom are you snacking. That will usually save me from indulging. Where is Hurst? I don't know too many places in Texas. You would think I would after being here for over 25 years.

Deb...hope your day is going well and not to stressful.

Toni....hey!!! Enjoy your camping trip.

Jack-K.....you are so good at planning ahead with the eats. I have found myself in more than one situation with nothing to eat or a cheat. And trust me...my mom gives me the fits when I chose the not eat option. I should glean from you.

Poncho....hey skinny...*smile* Hope you are having a super day.

Melf....hey woman. You are putting in the hours. I hope you take the time and get some rest.

Teensy...wtg on the fiber. I haven't been doing to well in that department lately.

Fruit....happy B-day week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob...I loved your funny graphic on the other page...LOL

Gator...I'm glad that stubborn weight is starting to come off. I know that has to be encouraging. Loved the pictures you've shared. Especially the devil looking one. It's had to believe that turned into such a sweet butterfly.

Heartmom.....she must have been pretty young if she lost all that weight and kept a flat tummy. I can't imagine. I've exercised from the get go...and well...it just aint pretty. :) Thank God for good legs...ehehe

Hope everyone has a awesome and safe Friday.

Love and hugs,

HiedieHo All!

Well, here I sit! I am avoiding the inevitable.....the dreaded housework! I did get in two loads of wash, one is in the dryer now. Did a couple of odds and ends then needed a sit down. My back has been nagging since last SAturday when I went to Sam's. I picked up a 40# bucket of kitty kitter from cart to trunk. If any of you wonder how much 40# is in weight loss, other than the obvious inches or dress size, go pick up a bcket of kitty litter. It is a lot!!

Yesterday was busy. The nursing home as usual and then home for a short bit before heading back out to the same nursing home to entertain with the Joyful Noise. By the time I got home I wanted something easy to prepare. Decided we needed a treat so made shrimp scampi over rice. Delish!

Thanx for all the responses to my e-mail joke.

Just heard the washer buzz but have to wait until the dryer is done with the first load, so will check the posts.

DEB: I wish I was energetic. I go while I can and then collapse when I can't push myself any more. If I die I hope it's during an "up" period, so people can say, "She was always on the go!" Not.."Poor thing wasn't able to do much". Either bury me in a red dress, Southern Comfort in one hand and needles in the other. For those of you who don't know me, that's stitching needles and crochet hooks! I'm a good girl I am! We won't see that PYY any time soon. The FDA will want years of tests, they don't take the word of other agencies.

LAWYER: Welcome back. Nobody ever chastises you for faltering, they just pick you up and help you to steady youself!

JACKK: Hope today is calmer. Such fortitude in resisting temptation!!!!! PAt yourself on the back!

BOB: Liked the prayer, coied it for my group. Also North/South.

SUPER: I try to keep nuts, PB, sf Jello, cheeses, veggies (both raw and cooked) on hand for the muchies. When I cook I always cook extra so I have leftovers for snacks and lunches. Nice to drink Green Tea too. I tried the lemon flavored and didn't care for it. I drink it straight hot or cold. It's supposed to help your meabolism. I like meat, fish and chicken. We eat a lot of beef and chicken, need to up or fish though.

MELF: Hope all will be well with yourDD.

Well the dryer is now buzzing so better get my backfield in motion.

FF: Almost forgot!

Bill Gates dies and has a consultation with God:

Well, Bill," said God, "I'm really confused on this one. I'm not sure
whether to send you to Heaven or ****! After all, you helped society enormously by putting a computer in almost every home in the world and yet you created that ghastly Windows._ I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to let you decide where you want to go!"
_
Mr. Gates replied, "Well, thanks, God.__ What's the difference between the two?"

God said, "You can take a peek at both places briefly if it will help you decide._ Shall we look at **** first?"

"Sure!" said Bill. "Let's go!"

Bill was amazed!_ He saw a clean, white sandy beach with clear waters. There were thousands of beautiful women running around, playing in the water, laughing and frolicking about. The sun was shining and the temperature was just perfect!

Bill said, "This is great!_ If this is ****, I can't wait to see Heaven!" to which God replied,_ "Let's go!" and off they went.

Bill saw puffy white clouds in a beautiful blue sky with angels drifting about playing harps and singing._ It was nice, but surely not as enticing as ****._ Mr. Gates thought for only a brief moment and rendered his decision._ "God, I do believe I would like to go to ****."_
_
"As you desire," said God.

Two weeks later, God decided to check up on the late billionaire to
see how things were going._ He found Bill shackled to a wall, screaming among the hot flames in a dark cave.__He was being burned and tortured by demons.

"How ya doin', Bill?" asked God.

Bill responded with anguish and despair. "This is awful!_ This is not what I expected at all!_ What happened to the beach and the beautiful women playing in the water?"

"Oh, THAT!" said God. "That was the screen saver."

Unfortunately many have this mentlity!:

A plane leaves Los Angeles airport under the control of a Jewish
captain. His copilot is Chinese. It's the first time they've flown
together and an awkward silence between the two seems to indicate a mutual dislike.

Once they reach cruising altitude, the Jewish captain activates the
autopilot, leans back in his seat, and mutters, "I don't like Chinese."

"No rike Chinese?" asks the copilot, "why not?"

"You people bombed Pearl Harbor, that's why!"

"No, no," the copilot protests, "Chinese not bomb Peahl Hahbah! That Japanese, not Chinese."

"Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese......doesn't matter, you're all alike!"

There's a few minutes of silence..

"No rike Jews!" the copilot suddenly announces.

"Why not?" asks the captain.

"Jews sink Titanic."

"Jews didn't sink the Titanic!" exclaims the captain, "it was an iceberg!"

"Iceberg, Goldberg, Rosenberg, Greenberg, no mattah......all same!"

Israeli police are looking for a man name Joseph, wanted for looting in the port city of Haifa. The suspect is described as the son of an ex-nun from Barcelona and a German father. He was a former flutist and worked occasionally as a farmer.

In short, he was a Haifa-lootin, flutin Teuton, son of a nun from Barcelona, part time plowboy Joe.

On the last day of his trip, the priest hooked a monster fish and proceeded to reel it in._ The guide, holding a net, yelled, "look at the size of that Son of a *****!"

"Son, I'm a priest. Your language is uncalled for!"

"No, Father, that's what kind of fish it is--a Son of a ***** fish!"

"Really? Well then, help me land this Son of a *****!"

Once in the boat, they marveled at the size of the monster.

"Father, that's the biggest Son of a ***** I've ever seen."

"Yes, it is a big Son of a *****. What should I do with it?"

"Why, eat it of course. You've never tasted anything as good as a Son of a *****!"

Elated, the priest headed home to the_ rectory.

While unloading his gear and his prize catch, Sister Mary inquired about his trip.

"Take a look at this big Son of a ***** I caught!"

Sister Mary gasped and clutched her rosary, "Father!"

"It's OK, Sister. That's what kind of fish it is--a Son of a ***** fish!"

"Oh, well then, what are you going to do with that big Son of a *****?"

"Why, eat it of course. The guide said nothing compares to the taste of a Son of a *****."

Sister Mary informed the priest that the new Bishop was scheduled to visit in a few days and that they should fix the Son of a ***** for his dinner.

"I'll even clean the Son of a *****", she said.

As she was cleaning the huge fish, the Friar walked in. "What are you doing Sister?"

"Father wants me to clean this big Son of a ***** for the_ new Bishops' dinner."

"Sister! I'll clean it if you're so upset!_ Please watch your language!"

"No, no! , no, it's called a Son of a ***** fish".

"Really? Well, in that case, I'll fix up a great meal to go with it,and
that Son of a ***** can be the main course!

Let me know when you've finished cleaning that Son of a *****."

On the night of the new Bishop's visit, everything was perfect.

The Friar had prepared an excellent meal. The wine was fine, and the fish was excellent.

The new Bishop said, "This is great fish, where did you get it?"

"I caught that Son of a *****!" proclaimed the proud priest.

The_ Bishop's eyes opened wide, but he said nothing.

"And I cleaned the Son of a *****!" exclaimed the Sister.

The_ Bishop sat silent in disbelief.

The Friar added, "And I prepared the Son of a *****, using a special recipe!"

The new Bishop looked around at each of them.

Slowly a big smile crept across his face as he said,

"You mother f***ers are my kind of people."

Enough already!!!!!

Getting ready to head out. Glad the week is over even though it was a short one.

Melf, I bet you all are getting excited about the baby. Sounds likes mother and son are both doing great. Don't be working such long hours girl, that will wear you out.

Pancho, what a nice feeling to be :too low in the wt dept". I don't think that will ever happen to me. Enjoy your dinner out. I would put those costumes on Ebay as soon as you can. People are looking now and plus time for shipping.

Heartmom, hope Boogie starts feeling better. It's too early in the season to start this stuff. I'm holding you too a legal weekend. I know you can do it.

Crystal, glad you are up today! You are so joyful, when you are down, something is wrong. If I don't plan ahead, I just get into all kinds of trouble. You are still tearing up that pavement. Good going. I hope to get back to it next week.

Sef, I'm dreading that housework this weekend too. At least you get to do yours during the week. Be careful picking up heavy stuff. Get your back some rest. Cute jokes.

Have a great weekend and lets stay Op and see some big losses next week.

MONET--Well, I've only been taking my present dose for about 3 days--this is the 4th day and I did not have any this morning because I was having some electro-dermal testing done. With the dose of less than 2000 gms it didn't seem to make any difference, but when I got up to 2000 4 days ago, I did lose. So I don't know if it is the carnitine tartrate or the 1200 calories. Give me a little more time on it and I can give you better information.

PANCHO--What is the name of that book on the carnitine that you suggested. Maybe MONET could read it and get more information to help her decide.

DAVE--Don't cut back on the protein!!! It lasts better than the carbs (veggies and fruits) and you won't get as hungry. Perhaps you are getting hungry because you are not getting enough protein. My doctor told me to have 2 eggs and 2 egg whites for breakfast to start off the day with high protein. She recommends Sugar Busters highly, but thinks little of just all veggies and fruit. The p-nut butter is fine, and the WW bread is fine. Have it for a snack. Be sure to count the bread into your over all intake of grains for the day. I try to keep my grains down to 2 servings. A serving is one slice of 100% whole wheat bread or other whole grain. Veggies are unlimited so you could always have the p-nut butter on a celery stick or use it as a dip for raw veggies. Be sure to use natural p-nut butter like Smuckers.
Also, are you bored and thus eat from boredom. Check out to see if you are really hungry or just "at lose ends" and are using munching to fill something else that you need. The busier you stay, the less time you'll have to think about munching. :)

Gotta go. The crocs play scUM this weekend and will probably get blown around by the hurricane! :(

FRUIT---HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Be good to yourself. It's a good present for your birthday.

Hey, everyone! Long day here in Hotlanta. I worked, left early, and ran home to change, then headed out to do the worship guides for church. I had a good time chatting with the church administrator, while we did the guides. His daughter is doing SB, and I am going to try and talk to her on Sunday, and see if she is interested in some 'support'! I will certainly tell her about here...

Wild Rose Pixie stopped by the store this morning. (she was off today) I hate to steal her thunder, but I was so excited! She has lost 14 pounds already! That is in less than two weeks. Of course I am jealous, but ecstatic for her. We went over to Harry's this afternoon, and shopped some. Just reading labels and pointing out stuff is helpful for her, and to remind me of what is what! Unfortunately, they were out of agave, but there is still a shelf tag for it, so I am hopeful!

Tonight, I fixed chicken and broccoli stir fried with fermented black beans. It was pretty yummy, even if I do say so myself.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. :)

Good Morning All

I arrived home last evening from my first week of being out of town for work. I will be packing up again tomorrow evening and heading out again for the week. My eating wasn't perfect while away as it was a question of eating what was available or go hungry. Lunch was provided by the facility we were at but we were on our own for dinner. I weighed in this morning at 191 lbs which is half a pound down from WIW a week and a half ago. Even though eating wasn't perfect I did absolutely no snacking as we were kept busy all day so I'm sure this helped to keep the weight down. The scale was actually hovering over 190.5 and 191 but settled on the higher number. I hope this week to stay more op. I am working with a woman who is also trying to lose. At the moment she is doing more of a low carb diet. She has lost about 80 pounds on Atkins recently but gained almost half of it back but is determined to get it off again. She is interested in learning about low gi eating so I will be taking her my Montignac's book and the Glucose Revolution for her to check out. I'm choosing Montignac's as it describes this woe better than the SB book and TGR for general information on the glycemic index. I did have a couple of meals this week where I :ink:'d out on baked potato one night and french fries the other. I felt absolutely starving and felt I needed to gorge. But do you know, on both occasions when the other gals dinner came it looked much more appetizing than mine with the chicken and veggies and caesar salad. I do think though that the reason I was so hungry and gorged in the evening was because I hadn't eaten enough during the daytime. So this week I am planning on taking something for an afternoon snack. I'm going to pick up some cut up veggies and maybe take some cream cheese along in my new lunch box.

BOB - Hope you had a good time while away and that Skeeter didn't have any more pooping accidents. :)

Missy - Belated Birthday Greetings. Sounds like you had a good one but you just hop right back on that wagon girl. We are all ready to hoist you up and tie you in.

Monet - I often wondered what had happened to Gracious. Thanks for letting us know that she is still around. That's great news about PIXIE. She must be feeling very happy to have made such a good start on sb.

Heartmom - Sorry to hear that Boogie is not so well. Hope he is feeling better soon.

Sorry that I am not able to read back on a whole weeks posts. I did get my laundry done last evening when I got home but have to go to the bank to-day and get a bit of grocery shopping done. See what snacks I can find for next week.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Bye for now.

Marie.

Good Morning! Just dropping in to say hi.

Nothing much going on here. I went to the store and got stuff for the church picnic we are going to today. I need to get that prepared before we leave, though I am not too crazy about going. I would rather hang around here and chill. Its been just TOO busy this week. Its hard to convince Tom that we should skip these things. If it is out of doors, he loves it. Me, I will take air conditioning over hot, humid sunshine any day! ;) That is why I have a treadmill, instead of walking around the neighborhood.

Hope everyone is doing well! I will check back later!

Got my walk in today. Actually went 2.5 miles and my DH went with me. We were supposed to have 10 inches of rain, but the storm broke up and we had about 1. BOB, did you get all the rain?

I actually had a bad day yesterday. We went out to eat with some people (friends?) that had invited us. The problem is, we always reserve rooms at our favorite bed and breakfast in Gainesville for the following year's home football games. We are good friends with the owners, and to make it easy for everyone, they take reservations 1 year ahead, especially for game weekends. We did not go to the first game, but called on that Friday when everyone normally arrives, and told them what rooms we wanted to reserve. We came to find out later that this couple that invited us out decided that they wanted the room that we had booked for one of the weekends (its a separate cottage with fountains, etc) and so they just arbitrarily erased our name and wrote theirs in. Then they "picked" another room for us, one that we don't particularly like. They did not ask us if we would trade or anything! It really steamed me so it was very hard to sit across the table from them and be pleasant. My husband may mention it to them, I don't know. We did change what they picked for us to something we like better. I know that I could have thrown a fit or acted as bad as they did, and I felt like it. But then, that would make me just as bad as they are. So, sometimes it is just hard to keep my principles in line with my emotions. Anyway, it was hard last night. My husband likes the man. I probably was a little bit "frosty" at the table last night, but since they were paying, I made sure I spent some of their money!!! LOL
Anyway, thanks for listening.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

:bubbles: :bubbles: Hi All from low humidity cooler Alabama

We had a cold front move through the state and it is much cooler and the humidity is really down. A little like Fall weather.

This week was so busy for me at work and home. Keeping up with life is getting harder and harder. :dizzy: The weekends are really a relief. We went to the High School football game last night and enjoyed that. I'm doing well with my weight but not getting my walks in like I like to. Kids are fine but also stressed about the amount of work they have with school. Both of them have so much homework. Their school gets out at 3:20 and they are home from school around 4. Both will get a snack and then begin homework. Several nights last week they were up till 11:30 finishing the work and studying for test. I just think that is so ridiculous! The teachers act like there should be no other life but school work.

I'm sorry I haven't been able to keep up with everyone. Just know I am here and support you all!

Rosalie...I missed where you are working now?

BOB...glad you are home. AU plays Ga. Tech today. When I was in school that was one of my favorite games. Glad they have started the rivalry back up.

Monet...My team is in your hometown today! Are you a Tech fan?

Pancho and JackK...ya'll are doing so good on your weight.

Gator...I'm pulling for the Crocs today too. Also, believe it or not I'm pulling for Bama to beat Ok. Glad the medicine is working for you! Still try the green tea too...it really does work.

Deb...sounds like your life is as hectic as mine!

Dave...when I get the munchies I brush my teeth. Keeps me from wanting to eat! Use mouth wash too. That always works because it is a signal that you want your mouth clean. Plus food doesn't taste too good after you brush your teeth.

FRUIT..Happy Bday:wizard: :balloons:

Gotta run.

It is wonderful outside. I should be out there but I've been playing on this thing...LOL what's new.

I did throw together a pretty yummy stuffed tomato for lunch today. I took a pack of the hickory smoked Tuna Creations by Starkisk and added some onion and 2 tablespoons of mayo. I hollowed out two large tomatos and put salt and garlic powder down on the inside. Then stuffed with the tuna. About 1/3 of a cup went into each. Served on a bed of lettuce. A nice alternative to plain salad.

About 250 calories per stuffed tomato. I think next year when the grape and cherry tomatos come in it would be neat to stuff them for little appetizers. It would probably taste good with out the mayo because the tuna has so much flavor but wanted it to be a little more moist.

Let me just tell ya...it is cruel and unsual punishment to cook for this family...LOL Oh my gosh, I made them two chess pies last night. Let's just say too good for words. I am staying out of the kitchen so I won't be tempted. The good news is my crew eats the goodies up before you can blink so I'm sure they will be gone before the day is over. Except for Robert's second piece. He'd have my hide if he didn't get some more. :D

Beach...I am with you. I love this little touch of fall in the air. Tomorrow is suppose to be my off walking day but we may just go out to enjoy the cooler temps and lower humidy. It would be a good time to take my camera. I've been saying I was gonna take some photos but I've been putting off toting that camera in the heat.

Gator....glad you could get your walk in and didn't get too much rain. It rained so much last week I was excited to see the sun come out...LOL

Monet...hope you end up having a super day. And find some time to just chill.

Rosalie...good to see ya this morning. Congrats on not gaining and actually being down a bit...woo hoo.

Deb...better watch that kickin' you might hurt somebody... :) Hope you are having a nice weekend.

Bob....aaaw I can almost smell it. I LOVE candles. I only have a few of the ones that smell really good. But I have one called dreamcicle....you can almost taste it. :)

Love and hugs to everybody! Hope you are enjoying your weekend and staying close to OP.

Hi Gang!

I'm taking a break in between making nibbles for later. We're going to a friends' for dinner and I said I'd bring the "hors deuves". I made deviled eggs and will be making a cheese ball. I told my girlfriend what I couldn't eat for dinner tonight, so she's prepared.

I've been doing really well with the strict first phase of South Beach (I know this is a SB board, but SO BEACH is like SB and y'all are so great). I'm in my 6th day. I never did this when I did SB. Maybe I just want it more this time.

I did have a little cheat the past couple nights. DH had the chips out and I stole some--2 small ones one night and 1 small one the next. I just savored them and they really didn't taste that good to me.

I was craving some chips last night really bad. I drained and rinsed a tin of chick peas, mixed them with a bit of olive oil and salt and baked them for a half hour. I didn't have too many and that satisfied my craving. Next time, I think I will bake them longer to make them crunchier, but they were still good.

Today DS had his "tournament day" for soccer. The kids all got a free pizza lunch and we could buy a slice for a buck. I was hungry (to the point of having a headache) and asked DH to get me a slice. All I ate was the cheese and pepperoni! I am being so good!:D

Of course I still have a tummy, but I've noticed that I'm not bloated all the time like I used to be. Especially my upper belly, under the boobs. I haven't meaured yet, but with the eye, it looks smaller!

FRUIT--Happy Birthday! Glad you're enjoying it! :gift: :hat: :balloons:

ROSALIE--where are you travelling to with the job. Nice to have a buddy at work that is trying to eat SB. WTG on losing.

COUNTRY--that lunch sounds good. I'll have to give that a try sometime!

GATOR--hooray for you for getting in your walk. Sorry you had a bad experience with those people.

MONET--Hope you have a good time at the picnic. It sounded like you were busy this week and could use a rest. I think it was you who posted about GRACIOUS. Say "hi" for us when you "talk" to her again.

BEACH--Hope things become a little less hectic for you.

Ok, I better go do that cheeseball and then get ready to go. Sorry for all those I missed.

We're pullin' for ya, but I have to say that the Plainsmen don't look that hot. Tubberville really doesn't have any excuses this year because he is supposed to have the talent. I'm watchin' the game against Ga Tech and the offense looks wimpy and the defense is poor. Ya gotta wonder about the coaching. I can't stand it! Y'all gotta do us proud against the ACC. And I'm afraid it ain't gonna happen today. Especially with the Gators going up against scUM, it's gonna be a bad day for football in the SEC.
Yep, I'm pullin' for Bama, too. I hope they can do it.

Hey All:wave:

Going to try and catch up a bit before I get so far behind that I can't see my behind dragging in the distance.

Yesterday I got my butt up and out of bed around 4:30am and was out the door at 5am for my 4.5 mile walk. I was quite proud of myself I must say. I wanted to get it in before I had to be back to take the kids to school. Got my shower in and took them then headed off to my GF's to help with the estate sale. Got there before 8am and there were people there already and it wasn't suppose to start til 9am - it was a zoo all day and that's with the street being barricaded due to construction that was due to be done earlier in the week. Boy, the crap people bought and the prices they'll pay in that area is unbelievable. Between my GF and my Aunt with my GM's hoards of costume jewelry they made over $2,300 just yesterday alone. Not sure about today. I was there but only for a little while. It rained most of the day so not as busy. My other Aunt, my GM's sister was there, who I really love and it was so sad to see her crying:cry:

Anyhow, I'm just waiting for ELI to come home. I watched a movie called SKINS today - thought it was very good!

Okay, I better stop the jibber-jabbering and get in at least a few replies...

PANCHO, just because you got to goal doesn't mean you have to leave the board. I was at goal for over a year and I'm going to be on this board til the day I die, or until it closes down, whichever comes first. You are welcome here as long as you like!! When I got below goal people were telling me I looked anorexic. I told them they just weren't use to seeing me at a normal weight. My goal is the high weight on the charts and the low is 115, so I was in between. HOw was the pep rally at the gym? Fiber should be at least 25 grams - more is better if you can fit it in. Unfortunately unless you are eating the baby salad green mixes there's virtually no fiber in lettuce. The darker the greens, the better.

ZANNE, keep up the great work. Glad you are seeing some changes in the mirror when you looked. I wouldn't ever see a change that way - me, look naked in the mirror?:nono: I've get that "mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fatest one of all" image! It doesn't surprise me about the beets and MSG. Many people don't know sugar is also made from beets!

HEART, did you get my e-mail? Sorry I missed you. Gosh, I would just die if I spent that much at the grocery store, you'd find me passed out in the check out aisle if I had to pay that kind of $ each week. Sorry to hear BOOGIE'S been sick - how's he doing today? Saw that OPRAH with the WL before, it was a repeat-was good the first time though.

WILLOW, I'm not a good cook, so hard for me to answer about the cookies, but I can tell you the Lactaid brand milk is fine and even though I'm not lactose intolerant, I buy that milk, the one with the extra calcium.

GATOR, picked up 2 of the books I sent you at the library, now I just have to have some time to skim through them - will let you know if there's anything interesting in either one.

ANGE, my gosh, that's a pretty darn big house you're selling. Are you moving in to a bigger one or a smaller one? PB FLOUR, call and speak to JASON at Expanded Pantry, here's their link: http://www.expandedpantry.com/ It will last you FOREVER. If you want, before you invest, I can send you some if you e-mail me your snail mail addy so you can try it out and see if you like it. As for the Atkins shakes, if you're on the run and in a hurry I don't see a problem, but there are better ones out on the market. I think CELLULOSE GEL is okay, it's in many products.

TONI, did you find anything you thought was worthwhile on the recipe boards?

JACKK, kudos to you in resisting those donuts. I'm not a donut lover but once in a blue moon, if they're in front of me I'll eat one - give me chocolate or ice cream any day;) Glad to hear DD wasn't injured. How'd the taco chips turn out? JACKK, I'm always proud of you;)

JEC, can you try to e-mail me the pic of the dog? If you can get it through I'll try to post it up for you. Wonder why you are having such a problem sending it out. Are you forwarding it as an attachment?

TEENSY, no stories about the one that got away I see:) I would probably say that if you see a trend of a gain when you go there it's probably due to the heat, or could it be elevation? I think what you are talking about with your GM and the clot is what they did to my dad, it's like a net so it will catch the clot, though I think they put on in his neck so any clots can't go to his brain, sorta like a net. Glad to hear she's doing better! Good job on the fiber - you should be proud!!! No problem with tomatoes, enjoy them but as with everything else, don't over due it.

BOB, glad to see you back, safe and sound and probably with a ton of crap to unload from your car!!!! Did you get much rain over there? I woke up to a downpour which lasted most of the morning - didn't do well for garage sales and didn't bother today.

MONET, your dinner sounded devine! I actually cooked some basa fillets yesterday and today and OMG, it was delish - yes, you read right, I cooked and it was sooo good;) I made shrimp last night, could of had more seasonings, but not bad. Going to make more shrimp tonight though not sure what I'll end up doing with it yet:shrug:

FRUIT, happy belated birthday girlfriend.:hat: Please know that I didn't exclude you from the birthday list on purpose, it's just that you aren't on the BIO BOARD and that's where I get my dates from:shrug: It was truly not intentional. What's the exact date. I can see you had a good time!:D Sorry I missed you AGAIN, but heck, at least I tried!!!!

DAVE, I can see you are skimming the boards - I had to laugh when I saw your post that I've copied below on a board that was over a year old:lol: I hope you don't mind that I've copied to where you intended it to be. If you are craving PB, go ahead and eat some, it won't kill you-just make sure you eat a healthy PB. BUT, also know that if you aren't eating enough, or drinking enough, of course you're going to crave foods. I'm sure, even though you aren't a woman, men must get cravings too. Make sure you eat enough protein, that too may be why you are getting hungry as you are.

*******************

ARG! I had an entire, completed post done and AOL gave me an error message and locked the computer and then closed it down. Luckily I had saved the above but was just getting ready to post what I had when this happened and lost everything else! I'm so pissed. Unfortunately I don't have time to retype what I lost. Just know that I did reply to everyone individually and was totally caught up. To those I didn't reply to from SUPERDAVE down, it's nothing personal and I hope you understand that I did write to you all, I just don't have the time to do it again, so please forgive.

Will try to write tomorrow.

This was a post from SUPERDAVE that I copied to get on to this board for all to see:

Ladies thanks for your help. I can see I am not drinking enough water, and I need to cut back to one slice bread a day instead of two. I promise I will stick with it like a postage stamp so I will get there.

Hurst Tx is betweenFt. worth and Dallas almost right in the middle.

I have a receipe:
Lemon Zest Ricotta
½ cup part skim ricotta cheese
¼ teaspoon grated lemon zest
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 package sugar substitue

mix together the ricotta, lemon zest,, vanilla extract and sugar substitute in a bowl. Serve chilled. Its quite good

Close to the weekend and I have a 7pm appointment to run on so you all take care, remember Keep a smile on you face and have a Super Day.

Back from the picnic! It was pretty fun. Tom went horseback riding, and I just stayed at the picnic area, and chatted with some people. We grilled chicken sate' and had salad. All in all, not too bad of a day.

I am going to go chill out and read some. Sweet dreams to everyone.

BEACH: No, I am not a Tech fan! We went to UGA! Go Dawgs! (I am just a fair weather fan though....I am keep up with it when they are doing well, and forget them when they are losing!)

BOB: I like your new sig....do you like mine? :D

DEB: Sorry about the lost post. I hate when that stuff happens!

Ok, I am off, but only slightly, and you all have known that for a while now...

Hey all.... been pretty busy the last couple of days, but I am still here. I hate it when life get in the way of my board time!!

We got Grandma home yesterday, and she is pain free again. But will have to completely start over with her therapy. She has been pretty tired the last couple of days, but I think she will be okay once she gets caught up on her sleep. You all know how hard it is to get any rest in a hospital!!

Went to town yesterday for some new bras.....yeaah! I am down over two sizes in both band size (40 to 36) and cup size (from a FF to an E)!! Finally!!!! But, the d*mn things still cost 45.00 apiece. Can you believe that. Maybe someday I will be able to buy my bras in a regular store. But I tell you these things last forever, and the support is fantastic.

Made a dessert called Zucchini Dessert Square's to take to our weekly pot luck. It was good, but I have to do some tweaking on it. Too much crust, and too much butter in the recipe. But this stuff tastes just like apple pie!! Speaking of apples, we picked all of them off GM trees and I am planning on making my own NSA applesauce. Mom is my teacher, so she will let me know next week when we can get to it.

I don't have time for personal replies, will try to get back on here tomorrow. Serious house cleaning tomorrow first though. I am kicking the guys out and getting down to business. Good night all, and sweet dreams!!

Deb- I just got your email- I sent my reply to ya- sorry about the mix-up.

Boogie is doing better today. At least he feels better. He's snot-nosed and probably will be for awhile. The only thing I can give him that won't affect his heart is a little bit of Nasonex. I was legal yesterday and legal today. BUT I was a porker today. I ate 3(yes-3!) NSA Klondike bars. I've got to quit buying them. AND I pigged out on cashews and went way over my quota for Diet Dr.Pepper's. Not enough water either. BUT I was legal. Believe me, I was very tempted to fall off plan, but didn't. Tomorrow I will be really good, promise. Oh, I made the skillet pizza. Mine turned out more like a casserole. Ashley and I really liked it. Hubby didn't and Boogie wouldn't eat. Hubby said the crust was too doughy. I really liked it though, especially with the fresh parmesean on top. Anyone know a pretty easy recipe for pizza crust that's good and not too "doughy"? I really want hubby to like it. Anyway, I tried on several pants today. Dress pants. All of them were terrible on me. It's my thighs. They're all flabby and jiggly and poke out in dress pants. Even Ashley was like "Mom, umm, NO" when I was trying them on. Anyone know some really good thigh exercises that will give me results? I need help! Okay, it's really getting late..goodnite.

Well, we lost to the scUM, but the Gators don't have to slink back home in embarassment. It was an exciting game. Too bad that our young team ran out of gas.

Good Sunday Morning Everyone:wave:

Just got in from doing my 4.5 miles today which gave me 30.5 miles for the week - not too shabby. Can't say my feet don't hurt, but it was well worth it.

Today makes 3 full weeks I've been 100% OP. I thought it was two but I was wrong, thankfully. It's amazing what you can do when your mind is in the right setting:)

ELI is off today and we're (of course) going up to Broward. Have to find a new microwave. Mine blew the other day. ELI had a jab at me, saying "your cooking is so bad you can't even boil water without blowing the microwave?" which is exactly what I was doing when it blew. MICHAEL asked how he was going to make his dinners. LAUREN complained when she couldn't make EASY MAC which is suppose to be nuked in the microwave. Everyone says its not worth fixing. I think it's about 8-10 years old, fit perfectly and had all I wanted. Hate having to buy appliances, big or small.

Going to try and p/u where I was cut off yesterday - boy, did that piss me off. I swear I was just putting my name in when it cut me off!!! At least I was smart enough to save it mid-way and not lose it all, then you'd REALLY hear me *****in!

MELF, glad to see your post! I hope by the next time you post you'll be announcing the new grandbaby. What a great bday present that will be if he comes tomorrow! What a way to celebrate. If he doesn't make his showing, what plans do you have for your special day?

COUNTRY, so what's this incredimail?

SEF, I think you have more spunk and energy than you think, esp. if you can compare it to others your age, or me, even younger! I think you'll be around for a REALLY long time, G-D sees all the good you do down here. Can you imagine what life for others would be if you weren't around!! I can just imagine the laughs you provide for those at the NH. Speaking of burying, when my DM goes I am putting her ice cream apron on her, placing the matching towel under hear head on the pillow, her ice cream bowl and a box of cones are going in, probably a few empty ice cream containers and other paraphernalia and I'm going to have her holding the ice cream scoop she has that was the one my GF used at his candy store. When I go, I want my coffin filled with chocolate!!!!

ROSALIE, thanks for checking in -we've missed you. Glad to see the scales down - is this a new low for you? I'm sure even though you weren't 100% OP all the exercise you've been doing has kept you down. WTG!:bravo:

GATOR, I think you are a lot bigger person (and I don't mean that literally weight wise of course) than I am. I would of been pissed at what that couple did and would of not been so nice about it. Why didn't the owner do or say something? Okay, I can't help but say - HOW BOUT THOSE CANES!!!;) I started to watch the game and then watched a movie so I was surprised to see the outcome this morning cause last I looked they were losing (Canes). Surprised you didn't come for the game.

BEACH, cooler, did you say cooler? Darn girl, why not share some - it's so hot here! Kids and homework, there's nothing better in life to do is the way teachers think. My kids both had summer homework, esp. MICHAEL and a lot of it. Had to read 3 books, one was 500 pages, plus reports. All the homework they give the kids, PLUS, they have to do community service.

BOB, I pinched him for you - he was sleeping and he jumped! Told him it was from you. So now we can call SKEETER PEECASO????

TEENSY, glad to hear about GM doing better. So the twins have a new smaller home I see! Good for you:) I was once a 48DDD and the smallest I got was 32D. Unfortunately, they still hang due south:shrug:

HEART, no problem as I said in the e-mail - will try you again in the future:) I have recipes for pizza crusts but haven't tried but one which ended up in the garbage can.

Okay, gotta run and get in the shower to get ready. Will try to check in later, otherwise it will be tomorrow to start the new weekly board.

Have a good one!

Debbie

The board is slow today! Not much going on. I expected to be up this morning on the scale but it was down 1/2 a pound-cool! In a couple of hours, we're suppossed to have a couple of friends over for dinner. I'm fixing grilled pork chops, grilled stuffed jalepenos, BOB's squash casserole, and cabbage. They're bringing potato salad. With all of the above, staying away from the potato salad will be no problemo for me. Boogie is still feeling a bit BLAH. Right now, he and hubby are taking a nap. Ashley is over at Me-Me's(my Mom). So it's just me for now.

DEB- congrats on 3 weeks straight OP! Have you noticed a difference yet?

I'll try to e-mail you a pic of the puppy. I'll have to see if I can't get one that will be smaller then the ones I have right now since I can't resize them and being HUGE may be the problem. He's sleeping right now in his kennel, but when he comes out to go potty I'll try to snap a pic of him and mail it to ya.

Jenn

Ok, I took him out and got a pic and sent it to you. It still may not go through though.

Well, yesterday was awesome. We were able to skip our morning walk and just walk in the evening. Still hit 34.2 miles for the week. Here is some useless trivia on our last month's walks...

148 miles
over 293,000 steps

My kids think I'm a nut keeping a journal and need to get a life...LOL But I'm excited. I never dreamed of walking so much. Or having a walking buddy that's as wacky as me.:) we are hoping to get bikes soon so we can add that to change up the routine some.

Deb...WTG on the miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The good thing about getting a new microwave is that the prices have dropped something crazy over the last year. I got a used one last year at a garage sale for ten dollars. Mine just went kaput so I changed them out. Incredimail is like outlook express. You can send and recieve mail...use staitonery...send sounds..it's really neat.

Heart.....oh my goodness on the ice cream. Congrats on the scales being down. As for the thighs I think walking helps. That's basically all I do and the thighs aint half bad. My inner thighs could use some help but tight jeans do a great job of camoflauge...LOL

Dave..thanks for the recipes. I love cauliflower. I read somewhere you can grate it and substiture for rice but I haven't tried that one yet.

Teensy....cool on getting smaller. I can only dream...LOL Any smaller and I won't need a bra. :D

Monet...glad the picnic ending up being fun.

Well I'm off to look for Chili Reno recipes. The store accidentally got in some poblano peppers so they had them for only 1.99 a pound. It's my favorite mexican food so I'm going to attemp them for dinner.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentleman :)

Just a quickie before I hit the trail again. I'm hoping I can do better this week in staying op. I have a few goodies packed for an afternoon snack - maybe this will stop me pigging out at dinner. I went for a swim this morning and this afternoon I went lawn bowling. May not get much exercise in during the week so thought I'd better make use of the weekend.

Beach - The job I have is just a temporary one - I am doing some data collection in nursing homes and have to travel around the province.

Zanne - Glad to see you posting again. I don't know too much about the South Beach Diet just that it is similar to SB once you are over the induction phase. Good luck with it. Last week I was working in Bobcaygeon, this week I will be in Peterborough. That's where I am heading this evening.

Deb - Yes that was a new low for me.

HeartMom - There is a Pizza Crust recipe on the Recipe Board posted by Sheanne that is supposed to be good. I know someone had made it recently, I can't remember who, and said it was good so I copied it but haven't made it yet. I can't remember which board it was on so I am posting it here:

WW Pizza Dough

2 Cups WW flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 cup (2 tbsp) oil
1 pkg dry yeast
1 tsp honey (agave)
3/4 cups warm water

Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup of warm (not hot) water and add 1 tsp honey. Set aside for at least 5 minutes. Meanwhile, sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Make a depression in the center of the flour and add oil and the remaining warm water. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix the ingredients with your hands. When you have the dough mixed well gather the dough together and place it on the floured board. Knead the dough, adding more flour if necessary. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes. The dough should be elastic and cohesive.

Place the dough in a clean bowl that has been rubbed with oil. Brush the top of the dough with a small amount of oil. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and put it in a warm, draft-free place for 1 1/2 hours. Punch down and spread dough onto lightly oiled pizza pan. (I pricked the dough with a fork all over and pre-baked it for approx 5 min. The recipe did not call to do this) Top with ingredients and bake as you would your favorite pizza recipe. (approx 425 degree oven till cheese on top is bubbly and golden).

This recipe will make:
1 med/thin crust 12" pizza 3x6" pizzas.

Gotta run. Have a good week everyone.

Marie.

Hi, I am new to this woe and absolutley love it. I came off of Atkins after being on there for 5 weeks or so. I started SB about a week and a half ago and I got on the scale today and I lost 2lbs. I really thought the transition would set me back, but it didnt and Im so happy about that. I can defitlely see myself and my family doing this forever.
Now, I just have to say thank you to someone very special...and thats Debbie. I emailed her last week to ask her some questions...and she has gone above and beyond what anyone has ever done for me. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all you have done for me in this short time. You are such an incentive for me right now. I dont know how I found this board, but I am soooooo glad I did.
Thanks
Chris

Thanks for copying the recipe- but I can't find any agave- can another artificial sweetener be used?

DEB- Sorry you caught me at not such a great time. I could have strangled Ashley. The entire time I was trying to listen to you, she was beside me acting up. Sorry I wasn't "chatty"- what you didn't see or hear was me threatening her. I had 3 kids at the table when you called, lol.

Well, I know I gained today- I ate sooo much! All legal of course, but portions were crazy. I fixed BOB's squash casserole and made a pig of myself with it. Very good. When it was done, I took it out of the oven and put a thin layer of cheese on top with some crushed pork rinds- very delish. Oh, and I made the stuffed jalepenos. My friend and I loved them- hubby didn't because they were stuffed with cream cheese. Next time I will use cheddar only. Ashley woke up this morning throwing up. There's a lovely virus going around. Hope I don't get it. She seems to be feeling a little better now- Boogie is still snot-nosed and doesn't have much appetite. He can't afford to loose any weight. He's only around 30 lbs and going on 3 1/2. The good thing is that I just went thru his winter clothes from last year and he can still wear the majority of them. Anyway, the weekend is about over. Tomorrow will be time for me to get back on track with my exercising and watching my portions.

Country- You would think that doing the 3 mile WATP tape would help my thighs. The lower half isn't that bad- but man, the upper half is embarrassing. Lucky you if you don't have that problem. My Mom is the total opposite body type than I am. She has skinny legs and can wear short shorts. Not me. But on the other hand, I have a more defined waist than her. I guess we all have our problem areas- too bad mine is from the neck down, lol.

Hey all:wave: It was my DS birthday this weekend. I've had 4 teenagers over at my house all weekend! I'm tired now! DH and I got in a good walk tonight. DEB...the temp this afternoon was 69 and very low humidity...it was HEAVEN! Only people who walk in 100 degree weather with 100% humidity will understand how WONDERFUL it was tonight! I actually jogged about half...and didn't really break too much of a sweat. Well tomorrow is weigh in for me on WW. Hopefully, I will be down. Have to run. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Quick check in. Just got in from church and had some plain yogurt with Polaner all fruit mixed in. I found another SBer at church tonight and I am going to try and get her on here.

Tomorrow night, I have to fix dinner for the Leadership community meeting at church. That is about 40 people. I am making lasagna, salad and garlic bread, and dessert. I will probably buy desserts this time, unless I get a great inspiration before tomorrow afternoon!

Night all!

Evening All:wave:

Just a quickie before I get too far behind...

HEART, sorry I got you at a bad time, hadn't read the board since I was on the road so I didn't see you were having people over, otherwise you wouldn't of gotten a call today - glad I got to speak with you at least for a few minutes. Hope the kids are feeling better!!! Yep, I do feel a difference, in my body AND my attitude:)

DAVE, thanks for posting that recipe - can't image in tastes THAT good!!

BOB, going to shop around this week for a nuker. My old one is 800 watts so at least that. Not sure if I really need 1000watts. I better get it quick before the kids starve to death and ELI starts going through popcorn withdralws:lol: Geez, for the Gators you'll come to Miami, but not for me???????

COUNTRY, you still beat me with the miles this week - you go girl!:cp: I almost went on an evening walk with my neighbor but decided I didn't have it in me tonight. I bought my parents a microwave at a garage sale for $5 and it works wonderfully, like brand new. I don't think I can wait to get that lucky though-see what I wrote to BOB above.

ROSALIE, CONGRATS on your new low!!! That's so exciting and I'm so happy to hear that news for you. Hope you have a good week, we look forward to hearing from you when you get a chance.

CHRIS, first http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign1.jpg Glad to see you finally got your butt on here! Oye, you make me feel so loved:love: Thanks for such wonderful compliments, totally unnecessary and girl, if you think sucking up to me is going to save your butt when you go off plan for any reason:nono: We won't count Thanksgiving though;) It was a pleasure talking to you in length today. I think we're going to find we have more in common beyond pumpkin and sunflower seeds! Keep me informed of how you're doing.

BEACH, yeah, yeah, just rub it in! I'm dying of the heat and you're rubbing the wonderful weather in my face!!!!

Will be on tomorrow morning to start the new weekly board - see you there!
