My best advice would be to take every day at a time and take those days seriously. I think it's way too easy to procrastinate or think you can meet a goal with less time then is actually required.

I'm also the heaviest I've ever been, but I lost 25 lbs with the help of a forum before I hope it works for you and we can support each other .

P.S I'm also very new.

1.To make a delicious low fat mayonnaise simply combine one teaspoon Dijon mustard or one teaspoon satay sauce with low fat yoghurt.
2.Avoid skipping meals. Eating increases your metabolism, thus skipping meals can 'trick' your body into slowing down its metabolism
in an attempt to conserve calories during a period it perceives as a situation where limited fuel is available.
3.Stuffing vegetables such as capsicum and zucchini with tasty fillings of mince chicken, meat or tuna are easy to do and very healthy and low fat.
4.Pita bread roll ups or wraps with salad fillings, are great for picnics, school lunches or to take to work.
5.Exerise, exercise, exercise! Exercise increases your metabolism and burning off excess fat.
When is the best time to exercise? Our metabolism slows down about 8 hours after we wake up,
so 30 minutes of exercise in the evening, before dinner will increase your metabolism for about
two to three more hours just when it was starting to slow down. This produces a significant increase in fat burned off, even after the exercise is over.

Hi Cressida,

You seem to have the motivation to make some changes. Getting to the point where, "Enough is enough" or just being tired of being tired is a great motivator. The desire to lose weight is the same as desiring any changes in life. It starts inside. Losing weight is a mind game. Change your mind, change your body. If you're interested, I can give you some information.

Hi Cressida! I'm on the journey to lose about the same amount as you. It takes mindfulness and stubbornness, dedication and just being plain old fed up. Our wishes aren't enough.

There are lots of different plans out there to follow - I'm personally doing south beach diet - lean proteins, good fats, fruits/veggies, complex carbs. I don't eat anything white - sugar, flour, potatoes, bread.

If I were you, I'd google the bmr calculator and figure out how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight. If you want to lose 1 lb a week you subtract 500 calories, for 2 lbs 1,000 calories - which can come from food and exercise. I use a fitbit which I like - it gets me moving and keeps me honest. Just find something that looks do-able. And just start now - move a little more than you did yesterday. Figure out your eating downfall and make a plan to overcome it through substituting, etc.
