100 lb. Club - Boo! How about a Halloween Challenge?

08-29-2003, 09:22 PM
I did not make my "button my shorts" goal for Labor Day, but that's okay, and I'm thinking about our next motivating challenge!

So, I thought, how about a Halloween Challenge? Halloween usually starts the dreaded holiday season that all people on a weight loss journey fear.

My goal is to make Onederland by Halloween. I think that will motivate me to face the holiday season with my mouth shut and my body moving. :D

What about you?

For those of you who have never done a "holiday" challenge, please know that it doesn't have to be a scale number. It can be a behavior change, a clothes size, or anything you want to accomplish in the next two months.

as of today 4:15 am on monday september 29, 2003 i am changing my halloween goal. i'm afraid i won't make my original goal so i've set a new one. there are approximately 32-33 days until halloween so here goes.......

1) start each day with 2 glasses of water
2) 30 OP days by 10-31
3) not weigh or measure until 10-31 (oh boy that's gonna be a hard one!!)
4) journal every day
5) find something different that i like about myself each day

275 by Boo Day. :)

Count me in!!!

With 10 weeks or so to Halloween. I would like to challenge myself to loose 20-25 pounds. That would be 2-3 pounds a week! I know I can do it and I will achive my goal by working out 3 times a week at the gym and 2 times a week on my own by walking or doing a workout video.

Good luck Ladies!!!

Oh yeah, definetly. My goal is #1 to be 223 lbs. and also to place in the top 5 in the October points challenge. Wish me luck!

I'm new to the boards, and starting my new plan on Tuesday. Since it's 10 weeks as someone mentioned, I will make 20 lbs my goal, along with hopefully 1-2 pants sizes. I don't kknow how many lbs makes a size. I'm guessing it depends on how you're built.

I'm so looking forward to this and love these motivational challenges!

Starting SBD 9/2/03

Reading all your posts this morning has motivated me. If I could lose just 1 pound a week, I'd be thrilled. I've always thought that losing weight slowly means that you're making changes that you can stick with longterm. So, I'm at 230 now - I'd dearly like to be at 220 by Halloween> Good luck to everyone, and thanks for the kick in the pants.

Okay, I'm in.
I weighed 260 this AM (yahoo -- I guess the vacation no-weight-loss was just a plateau)
So I'm going to weigh 250 by Halloween, and put all my size 26s in the basement, and be wearing only 24s.
I'm pretty sure this is a do-able goal, but promising you all is so scary!

Well, one promise at a time. Next time, maybe I'll be more daring.

I';m in. Hope to be at goal by halloween. Now that's a nice thought :D

09-02-2003, 01:41 PM
i am in! My goal is to be at or below 230. That is pushing it but i think i can, I think i can!

09-02-2003, 02:46 PM
I'm in. I want to lose 15 pounds and get to 280 by Boo Day.

09-02-2003, 04:36 PM
halloween. 2 months. well, i can't really pick a number goal but i have a size goal.

i have this pink shiny dress i used one year to be "glenda the good witch" for halloween. i want to wear it again. i think with 10 lbs, i'll fit. so i guess that's my goal.

179 and into the pink dress!

09-02-2003, 06:27 PM
I'd like to be at 270 for then....thats just a little over 20 pounds in 10 weeks. Since I've actually gained weight in the past month, getting to my labor day goal wasn't an option.

My short term goal is to get to a number on the scale i've never seen before...i want to be in new ground.

09-13-2003, 07:03 PM
My goal for Halloween will be 220, that's about 19 from Tuesday's weigh-in, and about 15 from what the scale said today. I think that is doable. I'm also still hoping to be at 225 by Columbus Day weekend, when I go to visit my sis in Florida.

I have found in the past that challenges seem to back fire on me, but I am going to stay positive and then I will see what happens.

Goal for halloween -- 10 pounds lighter.

Heaviest weight: 286
Current weight: 267
Halloween goal: 257
Next goal: 250
Final goal: 120

My Goal is to lose 20 lbs by Halloween! I am going to do this by then because I want to do this for myself to boost my self- confidence. I am already starting to look good but i want to get back to what i looked like 3 years ago.

09-14-2003, 02:11 AM
Great goals!! Everyone keep the good work!!

Hi Tara!

09-14-2003, 11:12 PM

My first time trying for one of these...I want to be at 199 by then. I think I can do it- only 8.5 lbs. An even ten pound loss would be better. I'm trying to just keep up good eating habits so the weight STAYS off and I don't gain anything back.

09-15-2003, 11:53 AM
I just joined this web site and posted a profile. I think having a challenge will be goood for me. Mine is to drink my water and do at least 15 minutes of exercise per day over the next 2 months.

09-26-2003, 02:40 PM
I'm joining the Halloween challenge because I have a big event coming up Oct. 30 (non-Halloween related) and will be seeing people I haven't seen since Oct. 30 of last year. At that time I'd lost 50 lbs and they commented on the difference and a few teased me about whether I'd be able to keep it all off for a whole year, and a few of them (guys naturally) predicted I'd gain it all back. I told them not only would I keep it off, but I'd lose another 50. So I've done that now already, but want to lose a few more by the end of October for good measure!

What really makes me happy is that a member of the group (who I keep in touch with through e-mail) decided to join Weight Watchers after seeing my results last year and she's lost 75 lbs so far - I'm so proud of her and it makes me feel good to know I had a hand in it. Can't wait to see her!!

09-26-2003, 04:38 PM
how is everyone doing??

I dont think I am going to get to my goal. I was stuck for 3 weeks at the same weight. I think I would be EXTREMELY happy if I could loose 10 pounds, instead of 25.
So far I have only lost 1 pounds since the beginning of this tread!

I think I want to join in on the Halloween Challenge! :)

Me and my Fiance's "5 year" anniversary is on Halloween, so that would encourage me to try and make my goal! :)

So here it is...

My Halloween *ghoul* lol - is to lose 10 lbs which would take me from 262 lbs to 252 lbs.

i fit into the dress! i am wearing it for a party on sat night! woo!!

10-24-2003, 12:04 AM
I am 4 pounds from my goal...But I am sick with a cold.

Way to go Holly!!

10-24-2003, 11:06 AM
Wow! Way to go Holly and Dolphingirl!!! Great job!

I will not make my halloween goal. I actually gained a few lbs. I'm up to 264.5 lbs now. :(

But there's always another challenge to be met, so I'll try again! :)

10-24-2003, 11:33 AM
My Halloween goal is a number in the 260's (269, 268, etc) -
I hit 269.5 this morning at weigh in - but with all the Halloweening comeing up I am terrified that it is going to slip away from me in the next 2 weeks! I want to stay - so that is my goal!!!

10-24-2003, 02:58 PM
Well, I've got 2.8 lbs. to make my Onederland goal. Since I haven't lost that much weight in one week in a long time, unless my body decides to dump a bunch of weight in a week, I doubt I will make it. But it's darn close!

I'm looking forward to our next challenge--I'm thinking a New Year's Eve challenge?

10-24-2003, 06:28 PM
whew, new years will be tough, for sure! it's after all those hard eating days. should we throw in one in between? like...thanksgiving challenge? (day after thanksgiving challenge, )

10-25-2003, 01:57 AM
New Year's sounds good, as long as we keep the monthly challenges going too, natch.

10-31-2003, 03:58 PM
Happy Halloween! I did not meet my Halloween challenge, but I came pretty close.

How did others do? Congrats to anyone who met their challenge, and kudos to everyone who tried!

10-31-2003, 10:51 PM
I lost 10 pounds and I am sooooo glad! :D

Congrats to all!!!
