Smile Just getting started...

Hello everyone!

My name is Vanessa and I'm writing to you from just outside of Chicago. The weather is moving from the hot and humid days of summer which I love. I can't wait for fall and everything that that brings... most importantly football!

A little about me... I'm 31 years old. I love to read. I'll pick up any book and lose track of time. I definitely a nerd and proud about it... books, movies, comics, you name it. I am not married but I have an amazing sister and am surrounded by a great group of awesome and supportive friends.

I have always struggled with my weight but when I stepped on the scale and saw 312 pounds I knew it was time to get serious about losing some pounds. I have been seeing a non-surgical bariatric specialist for a few months now and he encouraged me to find a support group of people having similar struggles. I stumbled upon this site and the rest is very-recent history.

I can't wait to interact with everyone and share ideas.

Vanessa

Welcome. I am new here, too. I have found great inspiration here and I hope you do as well. I had a similar "a ha" scale moment in May 2016 and as the saying sort of goes, I am glad today that i started 4 months ago on this journey back to a weight I am happy with. Is is NOT easy, but well worth the trip in my opinion. You have already gone down 17 pounds! That is great. Whatever you are doing is working. I found exploring the diet choice discussions were helpful. And the challenges! Good luck.

Hi Vanessa. I'm trying to start (again ) to eat better. I was glad to see your post. It gave me encouragement to try again. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Hey Vanessa,

I'm new around here too, and so far it seems a little daunting to me, but wholly accepting. I too would consider myself a nerd, and LOVE reading. (My goodreads account is my best friend.) The great thing that I've noticed about this site is how even though we're all in different life stages, we all are sharing a pretty similar goal: be happy and healthy.

Welcome to the community, and I hope to talk with you more.

Default Hi Vanessa. How was your Labor Day?

Hi Vanessa. How was your Labor Day? Ours was full of homade ice cream and a fairly large breakfast. I was going to eat some candy but thought of you and your commitment and only took one bite and put the rest back. Let's just say I didn't eat as much. Our family get togethers are a lot of fun and there is always eating. Tomorrow will be calmer. It is watermelon instead of ice cream. Let me know how you are doing.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!

My Labor Day weekend has been full of fun. Went to the zoo yesterday and got a ton of steps in which was good. I hope you all are having a great holiday weekend too!
