Default 53 yrs old 300 pounds

But I am 6 ft 1 tall. If I was 10 ft tall I'd be OK lol

Through my life I've been fairly active playing rugby and even American football. Thing is I've never felt fat. When I played American football I weighed 308 pounds and could still jog for half an hour , and I was strong.
So I'm now a lot more sedentary and feel I need to drop a few pounds !

Thing is I love food

My biggest downfall is probably bread and potatoes , but I also love meat. Oh and butter lol.

Anyways I have dropped weight before , got down to 230 a few years back. I found that a food diary helped , so I couldn't kid myself. I'll pretty much be cutting out white foods , and simply put , not eating junk.

As an example today I had

Yogurt and muesli for breakfast

Tuna salad for lunch

Chicken breast snack

Curry soup and rice for dinner

And a few pieces of fruit thru the day.

I also had a few cups of tea with sugar , but even allowing for this I have had Less than 2000 calories.

I will have a blowout when I want one. Mebbe once a month I'll drink 12 pints of lager and eat garbage. But I would do this if I wasn't eating better anyway. I'm a great believer in doing good most of the time and you are allowed the odd blowout. I also believe the body becomes accustomed to routine and a bad day now and again actually helps.

Anyhoo I'll try to check in every Monday to update and keep myself honest.

Good luck to all of you.

I wholeheartedly agree! Welcome to the forum. How have the last few days been?

It's been good thanks.

Lost a couple of pounds , 2000 calories or less all week , 2500 today. Disappointed I haven't lost more , but it's early days , and from past experience I know that loss tends to come in fits and starts.

To stay the weight I am , I would need nigh on 300 calories a day. So I know if I keep doing what I've done all week I'll lose weight.

How are u doing ?

Well done! A couple pounds in one week is great.

I hope that's 3000 that you'd need now and not 300. That would be a horror!

Yes, with that system your weight is going to melt off at a healthy pace. Smart plan.

Me, eh, my week's not been so great. It's been a few weeks since my weight's gone down so I need to adjust things. I was diagnosed with anemia a few weeks ago and have been too weak and dizzy to exercise, so that's made weight loss harder. But in my impatience to get better, I've been overdoing it on huge steaks so I'm gonna get a grip there.

Yeah 3000 lol

My first week ends Monday so hopefully it will be more by then.

I hope u feel better soon , and you know as well as I that it's never a straight forward journey , but as long as we stay on track the majority of the time , we will lose weight.

Congrats on completing Week #1!

Thanks.

A nice enough start.

10 more weeks of the same and job done. Easy isn't it lol

If I can get another 60 off by Christmas I'll be happy , so an average of 4 lb per week.

I know I will lose more in the early weeks and tbh 40 lbs would be OK lol

Welcome! And congratulations on the weight loss.

Your subject line of your introductory post really caught my eye. Why? Because I have a niece who will be 50 in November and she is well over 300 lbs. She's 5'10" and we (meaning the family) are extremely concerned about her well-being, as her weight has caused her many, many health problems, including a one-week hospitalization due to serious heart issues.

It sounds as if your health is pretty good overall, based on your activity level. My niece can't even walk 20 feet without getting winded, and let's not even talk about her maneuvering stairs. It's quite sad (and scary). But she's been morbidly obese all of her life, so it's really not surprising that she's in such bad shape.

I think you might be inspired by the story of someone who was over 300 lbs himself and lost a lot of weight. I'm not recommending his method necessarily - we all have to do what we think best fits our own lifestyle, as there are a whole lot of ways to lose weight - but I just find his story interesting and refreshing.

Just google "Butter Bob Briggs" and you'll find lots of links to him. His You Tube videos are great.

Yeah, it's simple, really.

40-60 lbs by Christmas would be nice! You've got this.

Weighed in today lost 2.5 lbs this week. Kind of so so about this. Expected more given its the early stages , but in the long term 20 weeks at 2.5 is fifty pounds.

I didn't get fat overnight kinda dumb of me to expect to lose it overnight lol
