GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's just the one today:
Your body's muscles are made stronger by the resistance they encounter. And so are you.
Use the strength you have, and as a result you will have even more. Step up to the challenges, and you'll be preparing yourself to successfully meet even greater challenges. By being strong you become yet stronger. For it is always possible to go a little beyond where you've gone before, and you can do it again and again.
Push steadily forward, and with each push you'll grow stronger and more capable. Though you may start small, you'll soon begin to see big results. Those who are strong became that way not through luck or magic or mysterious process. Those who are strong became strong by applying what strength they had, over and over. And so can you.

THIS WEEKS CHALLENGES:
As usual we continue with to TRY AND GET IN AT LEAST 64 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY and TRY TO GET IN AT LEAST 3 DAYS WORTH OF EXERCISE and post it on the exercise board.
THIS WEEKS CHALLENGE:
Take at least one day out this week to let us know WHERE your carbs come from. List the carb related foods and what category they fall under, such as fruit, dairy, veggies, starchy carbs. If you already journal, this should be an easy thing to do, if not, this will help you be more aware of your carb intake and where they come from and possibly what you can tweak to make your daily food intake better, more intesteresting, etc.
You can list just the foods you eat, or you can be more specific and list the food and the amount-up to you:)
GOOD LUCK!

:bb: Enjoyed my Great Niece's baptism yesterday. Afterwards we went to the other grandparents house and they had homemade peach ice cream. I did ok but had to have just a little taste of the ice cream it was too yummy.
Today I will travel for work and not be home till late. Hope to get in a walk tonight if possible.
Weighed in today for WW and now the Monday challenge. I'm at 170...1 pound since last monday. Oh and I voted on the poll this week and said one meal is my usual cheat. I've learned if I will stop there and get back on the right track for the next meal then I can not go off the deep end. That's why I picked todays MM.
:goodvibes Have a great day.

Good Monday morning.... DH just got off to work. I'm sitting here in total shock........ I got up at 5:30 this morning excited to get on the scale and was I surprised when I stepped on it and have gained weight. Now talk about a shock. Not one piece of non legal food has passed my lips! I can tell I'm retaining some fluid but I really really thought I would lose. I've been so up about being back on SB, I've made sure I'm right OP. I'll just have to ride it out and see what happens Wed.
Thank you Debilli for calling me yesterday. That just made my day. I tried a soup recipe I got from another board yesterday and really liked it. I have enough leftover for today too...
Refried Bean Soup 1 small onion-chopped
2 cloves garlic-minced
1 Tbls. vegetable oil
1 can refried beans-31oz
1 can diced tomatoes-undrained
1 can Rotel Tomatoes-undrained
1 can chicken broth
Garnishes-cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack) sour cream, chopped green onion
Cook onion and garlic in oil in a Dutch oven over medium high heat stirring constantly, until tender. Add beans, both tomatoes and chincken broth, stirring until smooth. Be sure to mash the lumps of refried beans until completely dissolved. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer 15 min. Ladle soup into individual soup bowls, top with cheese, and sour cream. Serve immediately. Yield: 4 hearty servings.
Even my DH ate this. I'll pop back on after while and see how everyone did over the week-end.

Happy Monday, If that can ever be.
Well we didn't get to go onthe boat trip. DD decided she couldn't go back to school until Sunday. She was back and forth since Friday. I was very disappointed about not getting to go, but if I had I woul dhave felt like a horrible mother. She could get around a lot better. So we followed her back to UK Sunday and unloaded her car for her and took her to the grocery. $248! Man, you would think she bought food for the whole semester. Of course, lots of beauty products, etc. I wasn't prepared for that.
So I was pretty much in a funk all of Saturday and won't even go into what kind of eating that led to.
DH & I have decided today is the day we get serious about this again. Ballgames are over so we will be able to get in our walks and workouts in. I cut out bunches of exercies from magazines and will put together a workout there too. If I could ever understand Fitday, I would start doing that.
Beachfan, We have a bonefish in Lou but I have not tried it. Planning to do so soon. Liked your MM. Thanks.
Deb, I guess Eli is one of those guys that dates don't stick with. There could be lots of worse things wrong with him than remembering anniversaries. So if you can overlook it, good for you. I would have to be reminding him, but that's me.
Melf, what handsome GS's you have.
Toni, The girl at work makes that soup and loves it. I had something similar to that in PUnta Cana and loved it so I think I will give it a try. I love soups. Don't worry about that gain, it is probably water and will be gone soon. Try weighing again around 9:30 and see if it is better.
Have a great day. Hope to get back on later.

Good Morning everyone,
Our county fair ended yesterday, I would up working at it for 4 days, and since fair food is not traditionally someplace you go to eat healthy, there were definite lapses in my WOE last week. But now, hopefully I can resume my downward progress.
I even got a henna tattoo yesterday, my kids think I'm weird :)
Hope that everyone does well this week. I hope to walk on the treadmill tonight and catch up with a couple of TV programs that we recorded.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:
Well, the kids are at school!!! YIPEEEEE!! We left about 6:40am and had really no traffic to speak of, just how I like it. We'll probaby leave 5 minutes later tomorrow but wanted to see how bad the traffic was at this time as the route I take, they built more houses which = more cars on the road = more traffic.
I planned to come home and walk but my neighbor called late last night and asked if I could watch her daughter for a few minutes while her DH takes her son to school. I said yes, though I really was looking forward to walking early and this put a twist on that idea. I could go as I write this but it would be a shorter walk and I really wanted to go the 4.5 miles I use to go, though I know for a fact I'll be walking slow. Probably should of gone and made a shorter walk of it, but now I'm just going to stick to my plan of walking later. I haven't walked in months and with my toe, I'm not looking at any times today, just to get out there is my goal. Felt weird putting on my "walking" clothes! What I'm NOT going to like is having to loosen my fanny pack:nono:
Oh, glasses update-took them back to were I got my eyes checked AGAIN and they said they made a mistake, the prescription is right, what isn't right, which is from the glasses place is that the area of the lens is too high. I may have to find a new frame, either way, they have to be fixed, so some time next week, maybe Saturday, I have to take MICHAEL to go get his glasses and will take mine back as well.
On to some replies...
TEENSY, you asked the other day ***Question---I thought I saw where Deb had said to someone to only use Stoned Ground WW. Does that mean that I have been doing this wrong. Some of the products I use say SG WW, but others just say 100% WW. (I make sure that it is not enriched WW.) I may have confused this......it would be easy for me to do!! Does anyone know?? ** As long as it says 100% WW, it's probably okay, just not stone ground, at least that's what I hope. Here's a sight that may help answer that and many more questions:
FLOUR INFO (http://www.baking911.com/pantry_flour,grains.htm)
HEART, glad to hear the news about BOOGIE not having to go back for 6 months!:spin: Sorry to hear about the $$ woes, I totally can relate. LOVED the pics - DH looks like a HUNK! Thanks for sharing - no matter what, I think you are a beautiful woman!
BEACH, sounds like you're doing great:D HM peach ice cream, and you only had a tad - you rock! Great job being down another pound!!! I haven't decided which answer to the poll would suit me at this point. You have the right idea though.
TONI, don't let that gain stress you out at all, I've gone through it many times and there's many reasons it can happen, just know to sit strong and it will leave, along with another pound or two, I promise. Loved speaking with you yesterday and will do so again in the future. Thanks for posting the recipe, I think I have all the stuff in the house and may just try making it!
JACKK, sorry to hear you didn't get on the boat:( There will be another time though, I'm sure, right? ELI and dates, usually he's good, at least he remembers my birthday! He didn't say anything yesterday, though he told me a million times he loves me - I think he was fishing;) Haven't given him a clue he's a day late and a dollar short and that's growing! :s: Guess he sure wasn't planning anything special. He's not off til this Sunday, so I know he didn't. He forgot once before, you think he'd of learned!
WOOD, sounds like you had a busy weekend. Today is a new day, a new week, so you can get back on track with the rest of us:)
Okay, JESSICA is here and watching TV, I have to go to the bathroom and then get ready - her father shouldn't be too long taking her brother to school and once back, I do plan on getting my butt out there to walk. Let's hope with my toe being what seems to be permanently big, fits in my shoes and causes me no problems:shrug:
Will check in after I return!

Good Monday Morning:
TOM s/b here any minute, but I still weighed in (125#); that's up 1/2 - 1 pound from last week, but I'll take it.
Question: Has anyone had their gall bladder removed, and if so....do you remember what the symptoms were? I occasionally get a ripping, tearing sensation in the right side near my ribs, and it is really painful. It happened quite a few times when I was preg. with second child, but I always assumed it was due to the stretching. It just happened again the other day; the first time since when I was pregnant with her.
I need to stay off e-bay for a while, or I will be bidding on a divorce kit (ha). I am winning all my bids; I can't believe it. I am going to wait a few months now, and then jump on and do some Christmas shopping.
Has anyone heard from Jenn in MN? I really thought she'd stop in and update us on the pregnancy. I hope all is going well for her.
Today is my daughter's first day of Kindergarten. I have to not cry in front of her. It's going to be so hard. I know it is only 3 hours a day, but also a sign that she is growing up.
I DON'T KNOW IF I SHOULD KISS DEBELLI OR KICK HER IN THE BEHIND!!!! If you haven't tried the zucchini loaf cake listed in the recipe section, you should (if you have willpower, that is). I made it last night and it is delicious!! I now have to try the Blintz cake. It is so nice to have something to snack on that is legal, sweet and not full of unnnatural products.
I am catching up on replies from Thurs. through the weekend, some may be old news, but here goes:
bashful: Sounds like you have a great hubby, cooking for you. Does he follow SB too?
Libra: I watched the last 10 minutes of Extreme Makeover the other night; it was pretty interesting. What a great idea to set goals for yourself and then give yourself rewards. I think we should all do that, and then when we reach our goals, reward ourselves for every month we keep it off. Sorry to hear about your divorce after so many years.
Monet: You are only human, and I don't think many, if any, of us could do what you do (decorate cakes) and not give in totally!!! Way to get DD to clean up the mess. You did great at the shower. Chinese food makes me hungry; haven't had that in ages.
angehaley: DD is precious!!
Melf: Great pictures of GS. You must be proud!
beach: Of course we still want you here; we all have busy weeks sometimes. Glad you and DH had a great night out. My husband and I are supposed to go out on Sept. 6th, for the first time since DD #2 was born (almost 14 months ago). I have a difficult time leaving my girls with anyone! Way to keep those kids in line!
Rosalie: I still have to try CountryMom's lasagne; sounds like a big hit. I will be making it this week. Some people (myself & Deb included) lose more with a few more starchy carbs.
Deb: I'm sure you are happy to have the funeral behind you! You and hubby have the same anniversary date as your parents? That's neat. Sorry Eli forgot the special day? How many years? Not that it matters, right? I would be very upset as well!! I did get DD to the doctor, and no ear infection; Thank God! She just has a little cold, and the stuffed up nose is keeping her from sleeping, I think.
groovia: WElcome back! Congratulations on getting the response from GH already! Maybe we will read it in the front of one of the upcoming issues. Way to go!
Fruit: Don't beat yourself up too bad. 10 FF is nothing; I have done that more than a few times. Sorry you had a bad reaction to them though. Maybe if I would, I wouldn't do it. Anytime my daughter gets FF, I have to eat a few. That's a major downfall of mine. BUT, I eat far less than I used to.
Toni: Maybe you are retaining some water weight. I am sure you are as you have been doing so well. Don't get discouraged; keep plugging along, and you will do great. Good luck figuring out Fitday. A lot of people (my sister included) swear by it, and really love it. I found it too time consuming for me. I could only go enter everythign in late at night, once kids were in bed, and by then it was too late, and often discouraging.
Well everyone, I hope you have a great day to the start of another fantastic week!!
I'll check in later; gotta get the show on the road around here.

Hey All:wave:
Well, I did it! I got in my walk. It was hot, humid, late, threat of rain, toe got taped up, was slow and the sheer reality of having to loosen that fanny pack came in to play, but I went!!!! I have to admit, despite my *****in, it felt good to get out there today. Got in my 4.5 miles that I use to do way back:rolleyes: Boy, am I out of shape in more ways than one:eek: Cross your fingers I have another day under my belt tomorrow:cross:
Before I forget, as I did earlier this morning, as I was reading the newspaper yesterday I saw an ad for CURVES that one is opening in Kendall, now, it didn't say where in Kendall as there is just Kendall and then there's East & West, but in the general area. Didn't say when either, so I put in a call to the number in the ad-no repsonse yet though. The questions I have for those who go to Curves are Why do you like it? What's it like? What's the cost? Stuff like that. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!:D
PANCHO, I had my GB removed years ago. From what I remember it was more like having chest pains, I think, but gosh, it was like 20 years ago-who can remember, I can't remember what I had for dinner the other night! I'm sure my recollection isn't that good and it could very well be like you've said, just don't remember it being as such:shrug: I have gotten something like you've talked about, though mine seems to be a searing pain, like burning-does that sound like something you've had? When it doubt, check it out-make an appt with the Dr., let him tell you it's nothing, hopefully. Nothing from JENN - have her telly and thought about calling her but didn't-will try to put that on my TO DO list. So glad you liked the zucchini loaf - knew you would;) The blintz loaf is NOT a cake, though it sure tastes like one, it's actually considered a dairy dish and can be used as a main dish or side dish. Actually, ELI and I aren't legally married though most people think we are and I don't correct them when I'm refered to as his wife or he as my husband-after 10 years it sure feels like it! Please let us know how DD's first day of Kindergarten went-did you cry??? Girl, come MICHAEL'S graduation, I'm going to be bawling like a baby, just imagine when I have to take him to college:cry:
Okay, I can't believe it's after 11am already! I haven't had a bite to eat yet. Going to go have something before I die of starvation - yeah, right, like THAT would ever happen!
Will check in later!

Ok, here goes….
My first attempt at posting a reply from cut & paste out of word….!!!
As promised…. I weighed in this am ---- at 152!!!!! Don’t know weather to be happy of frustrated….. I am down three from last week… but two days ago I was 151.…….. I gotta get an electric scale… (MY scale - a SALTON - is never the same…. It has this little dial on the bottom of it… to be able to ZERO it out… but still, never seems to get right on… even this am… I got out my 6 lb weight and put it on…. One time it weighed in at 4 one time at 5 one time at 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARG!!!!!!!!!(NOT GOOD FOR THE DIETER……….) I looked at them this weekend… but didn’t buy… Hubby (who is doing Atkins…) said NO because he would be upset if new scale showed him higher than current one did…. HA.AH.HA.HA…… Does anyone else have a vain hubby!!! gotta love it… anyway, gonna go back and get it!!!!!!!!!! We finally got some rain last night…… A wonderful soaking rain - but only for about an hour…. We will take all we can get!!!!! I think I actually heard the sidewalk sizzling!!!!!!!!
Hope everyone had a great OP weekend……
BEACH - Great MM!!! Congrats on the ONE POUND….. WOOO HOOO FOR YOU!!!!!!!
TONI - Thanks for the yummy soup recipe.. Will have to try that one…as I love beans… may try it with black beans…. And cilantro!!!!!!!!! Yum….. Don’t let the gain get you down… I will be off before you know it…. Do you eat lots of salt…? I have found that I have to watch my intake… esp around TOM!!
JACK-K!!! You are an AWSOME MOM…. There will be more boat trips!!!! Wow on the grocery bill….but I seem to remember that first trip to be very high…!!! All those staples add up quickly!!! Even though you had a snag in your plans!!! WTG!! BTW.... Thanks again for the help on my stats... I still need to get a book of cal-carb-protein and a journal... but I can see myself... finding a menu for a day that fits what I am supposed to eat (calorie wise) and eating the same thing everyday... as to not have to figure out what to eat to get the #'s right.... still can't find those pot pies you like...!! :(
PANCHO - WOW - That is awesome that you are staying at the same weight…. At your TOM!!!! WTG!!! So, did you cry at taking DD to school… I can only imagine myself when that time comes for me…. I am sooo emotional!!! J I am gonna have to try the zucchini cake… everyone seems to love it…

Getting ready to go out to our jobsite so I probably won't get back on here so thught I would catch up before it's gets too much.
My carbs today come from:
2 pcs sgww bread (not sure how many carbs in them)
yogurt - 17 carbs
dab of peanuts - 3 carbs
I never pay attention to the amount of carbs I consume, just the starchy carbs.
Will have some more with dinner, the mushrooms and peppers on my sish kobob (sp)
Woodfrogs, my DH wants a barbed wire tatoo, but he is a chicken, so everythime we go somewhere that has the henna ones he says on the last day he will get one of those, but never will spend the money. Good wy to find out if you want the real thing I guess.
Deb, I'm so glad yu are getting back into your walking. It will help you in more ways than just wt. loss. Hope it wasn't too painful. Glad they figured out the glasses problem.
Pancho, good luck on getting your DD in kindergartern w/o tears. I'm sure they willbe flowing once you get in the car. Guess what, it starts all over when they go to college. I think I get teary eyed everytime she comes home and leaves.
Anglehaley, keep the old scale for Dh to use and you use the new one. I always weight 3 times, the first one is never right. I think my problem with Fitday is I don't have alot of time to fool around with it. One day though. Congrats on those 3 lbs. The scale and body can be so fickle from one day to the next.
Have a great OP day.

A quick post from Monet...bet you all are getting annoyed with my quick posts all the time! :) If so, sorry! Just get over it! haha!
I heard whispers of a WIM, so I just got home and hopped on the scale. Down two, even after working this morning! I was glad to see that! Now I am back to my all time low. Woo hoo! Next pound will be new ground!
I have to pick up my daughter from work in a bit. (she is a cake decorator at the same store I work at) Her car is in the shop, and her husband is taking his car over for some work so mom was elected to give her a ride. A bit later, I am going to go up to the doctor's office with my co-worker, who had chest pains last Monday. She is nervous, since they called her and told her Friday evening that she needed to make an appointment ASAP. I have my ideas...I am almost willing to bet he has found she has insulin problems and thyroid problems. If he puts her on SB, like he does a lot of his patients, I will be right there to encourage her! ;)
So, I need to go eat something. Will be back later!

Just a quickie to catch up before I hit the shower...
ANGE, you just CAN'T let yourself get all bothered by small fluctuations in the scale, whether the scale itself is a good one or not. It happens, it could be for so many reasons and NONE that have to do with an actual gain of fat. Stay strong and it will go right back down just as it has gone up, I promise! My kids start school at 7:30am and I drive them each and every day - one of the reasons they've never been late OR abscent in their lives:D Luckily, both kids are in the same school. They go to a MEGA MAGNET school. It's a public school but it has kids from all over the county at it, so it's not a school that's close. I'm about a 15 minute ride without traffic, some kids live REALLY far away, like 20 miles:eek: It's one of those schools that parents just die for their kids to get in to, and I'm lucky enough that both kids got in, different magnets, same school at least! Really, no need for a book, it can all be found on the computer-just buy a journal. I can spout off foods I know the nutritional information to by heart and I keep a list of fruits and their serving sizes pasted in the back for easy reference. It's not that hard.
JACKK, not that painful, though it was a little more promident about a half-mile from the house, so not too bad. Now that they figured out the problem with the glasses I have to go back to the other place and hopefully not have to fight with them to fix them correctly. Are you eating plain yogurt, flavored already, or do you mix in your own goodies?
MONET, hope everything is okay with your DM, let us know. Good job on being down to your all time low again - looking forward to hearing you boast joyfully when you hit that new all-time low:spin:
Will run to the library before I get the kids from school, probably the grocery store too. May try to make spinach quiche for dinner tonight, took the frozen spinach out so now I have to make something with it!!!!;)

Good Morning everyone!! I feel so good being able to say that. Usually I don't get on here until late evening. Hubbie left early this morning to go work for a friend of ours, so I got up and exercised and am now doing laundry....mostly bedding.
It is looking like a beautiful day here. The sun is shining, but it isn't too hot yet. Want to get my little girl out for her first walk to day.
A few replies;
Beach-- Way to go on the loss! I keep Sunday as our ice cream night, but our is the Blue Bunny NSA of course. Dh has a tendency of having it more than once a week, especially now with Bill being home!!
Toni-- It is probably just fluid, so drink lots of water today and try and flush it out. That recipe sounds really good. I am copying it now. Thanks for sharing it with us. I got the sauerkraut recipe.... thank you so much, we are going to try it!! Do you think it would work with Splenda instead of sugar?
Jack-k-- Sorry things didn't go so well this weekend. Sounds like you are ready to commit again. Hop back up here and off we go!! Fitday isn't all that confusing. If you have a brand that you want to enter hit the custom food button, then you can add the name, serving and all the nutritional info. And it will keep a record of these foods in alphabetical order. Recent foods is for the foods that you have entered in the last 24 hours. My breakfasts are usually pretty much the same so I just hit this button every morning, and select what I want to add to todays. The search is for their list of foods. If I can help you in any other way just let me know. I journal M-F on fitday, and usually just write down what I have on the weekends. I don't have my scales with me on Saturdays for our family pot lucks, so I don't enter on fitday. Sundays, is my day for regular breakfast......bacon, eggs and WW toast. I also take Sunday as my higher fat,( ie... the bacon and eggs breakfast) and lower carb day if I chose.
Wood-- I love county fairs. There are usually so many cool arts and crafts. Hop back on the wagon now and you will be okay. Congrats on the tat!
Deb-- Thanks for the flour info. I will make it a point to get there again today and finish reading it. Congrats on the walking again. I have got my female basset on some weight reduction food from the Vets now, and am going to start her walking again. She can't go too far, as she is old, but I think any little thing will help her.
Monet-- We are happy to hear from you anytime, quick or not!! Congrats on being back to the ALL TIME LOW!! Way to go girl!! Next weigh in.....new numbers!!
Ange-- Just be careful of the maltitol..... it is a sugar alcohol.....it can have a laxitive effect if you over do. And each person is different. Dh can't eat it at all. Old iron stomach here, hasn't really had too much trouble with it except for occasional gas!! Wish it would affect me like dh, then I would leave it alone!!
Well, I am off to put the clothes in the drier. Back this evening!!

had a minute so thought I would catch up a bit....
Monet, congrats on reaching that new low. Hope you never see those other numbers again.
Deb, I buy Kroger lite yogurt. it is flavored, but I think it is legal. I have just discovered adding cheerios to it for some crunch. What is this cooking days in a row? what has gotten into you?
Teensy, thanks for the hlep with fitday. As soon as I am not working at both jobs I will try to get on there.

Good afternoon everyone, just thought I'd pop in and catch up.
Jack-K- You were right I got back on the scales and they said I'd lost two of those pounds. Jack-K you can buckle down my DH and I are really trying.
woodfrogs- Did you take a picture of your henna tatto? Would love to see it. Glad you had a nice time at the fair.
Debelli- Can't believe you walked all that way with your poor toe taped up. You did so goooooood. Congradulations..
Angehaley- Thank you for the site address. I went over there today and played around with it...The Big Orange Babe has a recipe for the most wonderful Killer black bean soup. You'd love it. If its not in the recipe section let one of know.
Pancho- How did your daughter do at kindergarden? And how did you do? I've also got a bunch on e-bay. I've got to stop it for awhile to. Yes fitaday is so confusing and takes so long don't think I'll stick with it. I had my gall bladder removed a couple of years ago. And I used to get kind of a stabbing pain right where you said yours was. Then on the last I started having a queasy stomach everyday.
Monet- Way to go gal on the two pounds... Its nice your co worker has you to help her if she has to go on SB.
Teensybean- I don't know if it will work with splenda but wouldn't that be wonderful if it does. Are you going to try it with it? I really don't know why it wouldn't... I want to make some when cabbage starts getting cheap.
Okay time for DH to get home from work so will go check what I'm making for dinner which I think will be leftover lasagna.....

Today, I'm back on track with my eating. Here's the ironic part- I stepped on the scale just knowing it would be up a minimal of 2 pounds, and it was actually DOWN a pound! It will probably be up tomorrow. Anyway, I don't count carbs except starchy ones. So far, I've had 1/2 cantaloupe, nsa yogurt, tuna fish salad(mayo, 1egg, little relish, onion) and 1 piece of low carb bread. I'm fixing to eat a peach and maybe another yogurt- my stomach is growling. Supper is going to be steak, salad, and a sweet potato.
I did my 3 mile tape today, and for some reason I got really hot this time. It's been more than an hour since I finished, and I'm still bright red in the face.
DEB- I told hubby you called him a hunk--he just laughed and was like, yea right. It was a good picture of him;) - and thanks for the compliment towards me. One day I'll get around to taking a pic of me with my hair and makeup actually fixed. I keep saying that we need a family photo but I want to put it off until I reach goal weight, but at this rate, who knows when that will be.

Hello, everyone. I just now had a chance to look at today's posts. I have to leave work in a few minutes so this will be short.
Debbie - my birthday is three days after my anniversary was. My ex forgot BOTH of them three years in a row!! By the third year, it got to be funny to me wondering if he would remember. I think the fourth year our children were finally old enough to remind him.
Pancho - I had my gall bladder removed 11 years ago. My main symptom was feeling like a stave from a barrel had been placed around my chest and was being tightened. Hurt like heck!!! Fortunately, I was able to schedule my surgery for a time when I was not having an attack and they were able to do it with a laparascope. It's easier on your body if you aren't in the middle of an attack when the surgery is being done. My surgery was out-patient and I felt almost 100% after a week as opposed to 4 weeks the old fashioned way.
Toni - I can't wait to try your soup recipe. It sounds wonderful!
I'm really excited. I took several large bags of items to Goodwill today. I'm going through some more things tonight to be moved to my newly rented storage room. It's the pits to try and put 35 years of stuff into a two room apartment. Putting these "things" in order adds incentive to me putting myself in order. I guess that is my MM - more order in my life enabling me to be more orderly with my WOE. Does that make sense? I guess it's a control issue. If my outer life is under control, then my inner life will be more easily controlled.
Oh, well, the old clock on the wall says I can go home now. Have a great evening everyone.

Good afternoon:
I did survive my daughter's first day of Kindergarten, but it was only a half day orientation, and I was actually on campus the entire time. Tomorrow will be the true test, actually driving away with her there!
So far today:
1 1/2 slices of zucchini loaf cake
Yogurt with flax seed meal
cantaloupe
1/2 pita with chicken salad & lettuce
Getting hungry, so will probably have some triscuits with laughing cow cheese. Tonight is the night that I am going to make CountryMom's lasagne, and will have a salad with it.
Deb: I don't go to Curves, but have known several who have. From what they tell me, after a while they do not feel that they are challenged enough. I believe you have far less options than at a gym with a lot of equipment and classes. I know a few of our members here go, and can probably give you more positive feedback, since this is all heresay. My pain is more of a ripping/tearing sensation; I was just in for my physical too, and it hadn't happened at that time. I will keep an eye on it, and probably make another appt. soon. Let me know if you get in touch with Jenn; tell her I send warm wishes her way. I haven't really looked at the Blintz loaf recipe yet, just took your word for it, and printed it out for later. Did Eli ever remember your special day? Is it the day you met, moved in together, made a commitment???? Good job getting that walk in today!!
angehaley: I used to have one of those scales; it drove me crazy. Tell your husband that he can use that one, and you want a new one that will give you an accurate reading (ha). I haven't tried the no bake chocolate cookies yet; but I will have to. As far as the candy bars you mentioned; I have seen them, and the first ingredient is maltitol, which is a sugar alcohol, and has a laxative affect for many. I don't eat that stuff anymore since on SB, you are allowed to have "REAL" chocolate, as long as it is 60% pure cocoa content. I get the 77% cocoa content, and I LOVE it. As far as legal, Deb could probably tell you better than I could. If it doesn't have sugar, it is probably o.k., but in moderation. Do you have any stores like Trader Joes, Wild Oats, Sprouts in your area? If so, that is where I find my candy bars. I actually need to pick up a few more.
Monet: CONGRATS ON YOUR ALL-TIME LOW; I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT YOU BREAKING THAT ALL-TIME LOW.
Toni: Thanks for the info. on your gallbladder. I probably need to have it checked out. I had an ultrasound of it done almost two years ago, due to IBS type symptoms and it was alright. Oh well, we'll see.
Libra: Thanks for the info. on the gallbladder. I guess it is more common than anyone would suspect. I don't get these often, and I wouldn't even call them attacks. It happens and is extremely painful for a few minutes and then is gone as quickly as it came.
Well, I better get going and get a few things done around here.
OH, I FORGOT TO TELL YOU ALL: I am meeting with a nutritionist at a place called "Heaven Can Wait" tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. I have done so much reading and have put myself on certain supplements over the past year. I need to have someone to sit down and talk to about what I am taking that I don't need to be,as well as what I should be taking that I am not. My regular MD thinks anything other than a multi-vitamin is a waste of money, but that is because he is used to fixing things once they are broken -vs- maintaining to make sure it doesn't break in the first place. I will let you all know what he has to say sometime tomorrow or Wednesday. He only charges $40 for 1 hour. He seems to be very qualified too. Wish me luck!!!
See ya!

Howdy Heartmom- Hows Boogie doing?
Willow- Its good to see you posting again. I know you can't have subway but I don't know about Hardy's.
Libra- Sounds like you were really busy. I know when I'm working on my weight the other things in my life get in control too.
Pancho- That would be great to meet with a nutritionist and hear their opinion. Can't wait to hear what he saids. That sure doesn't sound like allot. My heart doctor is the same about any vitamin or mineral. Good luck with your daughter tomorrow...

Evening All:wave:
Whew! What an afternoon! I got one of those massive headaches:headache: I get from time-to-time, not sure if it was hormonal from TOM being over or from the heat this morning, or even could of been a combo, but it sure was a doozie! I felt it coming on earlier in the afternoon but thought it was just a mild headache but by the time I went to get the kids it was getting worse. Took some 222's (love those things) but ended up barfing them up, nothing like the taste of THAT:yikes: then finally passed out in bed:tired: til I woke up feeling fine once again. Took a shower and feel human now.
Kids both had a good day at school though MICHAEL needs a schedule change - seems lots of kids in IB do, so he's not alone. LAUREN loves all her teachers and is happy with her schedule.
I haven't eaten much today, just 5.5 ounces of cactus pears and a pot pie, going to take it light this evening and not really that hungry yet but getting there.
Going to get in some replies before the usual call of "I NEED THE COMPUTER" gets yelled at me:)
ANGE, I really don't recommend the fake chocolates, esp. when you are new to SB. It really seems to get people in trouble, sometimes in more ways than one, if you get my drift. If chocolate is a trigger food for you that's even more of a reason to stay away from it. If you REALLY need chocolate, go for the real stuff which I know you can find at the big HFS in your area. Would you believe, I need to update that chocolate list of mine and ADD to it? Oh, about the bean being in the bar - interesting, as if you read what I posted last week about the starch blockers, they are made with white kidney beans!
TEENSY, I think that's great that you'll be getting out with the dog - she may surprise you and go farther than you think and both of you will benefit. I think they are such cute dogs - I have a glass pin of a BH that is so cute:)
JACKK, forget the cooking days in a row, not going to happen tonight, sure not in the mood. Definitely tomorrow though. I think I'm going to make this Ricotta and Spinach Pie recipe that I found - sounds good and easy. How about some Fiber One in the yogurt for crunch? I'm loving the yogurt with the PB flour mixed in it, it's sooooo yummy!
TONI, I guess I'm a gluten for punishment with walking with my toe but it seems that it's not going to get better all of a sudden, overnight so better I take that pain than the pain of seeing the scale going up!
HEART, glad to hear you are down rather than up!! DId you drink enough water when you did your tape? Is it hot out today? Be careful! Oh, I just BET DH loved hearing that I called him a hunk - paleese, what man wouldn't, esp. if it wasn't from his wife! Looking forward to seeing a pic of you one day, all decked out and gussied up!:) I never have gotten a family pic - you've given me an idea that I should take one with the kids before the year is gone.
WILLOW, the sourdough bread there may not be a true sourdough I suspect, but really not sure. You are not going to find a true ww bread at many places. What is more a problem with the breads is the amount. Like, for SUBWAY, which doesn't have a true whole grain bread, the amount of bread is equivalent to a few slices of bread. You could do worse, so if you need to go there and can't make something from home, just do your best, but I wouldn't eat that on a regular basis. Do keep in mind that when you combine a low GI food with a high one it brings it to a moderate level. If you asked me if I'd eat it, the answer would be no:nono:
LIBRA, hmmm, is that one of the reasons you aren't married, he forgot about the anniversary AND your bday? ELI better be careful!!!! It's not like he's forgotten, he just didn't remember the exact date so each day he comes home it's like he's fishing and trying to find out. I just thought he'd of planned something special:shrug: Your motivation makes sense - my house is chaotic and so if my life, one reflects the other, so it seems. I remember my GB attacks as you do yours - felt like you were having a heart attack, like someone was trying to rip your heart out of your chest!
PANCHO, I've heard the same from other posts I've read about CURVES on the computer, so I guess what you are saying is true. I'm going to look in at a place called PORKY'S. I just don't like that place because people can look in the window and watch you. It's open 24 hours and lots of policemen go there. There's other places for women only but they stink. My DM is willing to pay for LAUREN to join, maybe she'll do the same for me:) Read what I posted above to LIBRA about ELI - nope, not the day we met, didn't actually verbally make a commitment, sorta commited with something else, if you get my drift:s: Let us know if the nutritionist has anything interesting to say.
Okay, I heard that "calling" for the computer and now I have to get off - at least they let me get caught up.
Will check in tomorrow morning - have the day to myself and DM will be coming over.

Hello Everyone!
Just reporting in to say that those french fries the other day have not steered me off course. I've gotten right back on plan! woo hoo!
I went to my fertility specialist today to schedule my next endometriosis surgery (the 3rd one!) So, I'm going under the knife on November 21st - the Friday before we are out for our Thanksgiving break. That gives me a week to recoup. One good thing about my case of endo. is that it is never bad. It just tends to attach itself to places that cause me a great deal of pain. Last year it was removed from the ligament on the left side of my back and now it is on the right side. That may be the only spot in there but it hurts like ****! While she is in there she is going to do a HSG test and do some of the Expensive blood work to test to see if I'm a gene carrier for the cromosome abnormality that the baby had in my last miscarriage/pregnancy. They also have to do that same test on my hubby. She also wants to test further for the antiphospholipid antibodies that I have - something like that. So, in other words, lots of money will come out of this surgery!
On a good note - I'm officially 9 pounds less than last Monday. I'm very happy about that.
I found out today that another friend at work is pregnant. So, needless to say - I cried all morning. Also, because of all of the depression, my DR. gave me Zoloft - anyone on that or ever was? Does it make you EAT? I certainly don't want that!
DEB: Sorry I missed your call yesterday - we will hook up soon!
Well, lemme go be depressed...sorry I'm such a bummer - I'm just at the end of my rope with the pregnancies at school, etc. But, the good thing is - I DIDN'T EAT anything bad today because of it!
See y'all tomorrow

I got in late from the doctor visit with my co-worker. Just as I suspected, she has insulin problems, and he put her on Sugarbusters! I loaned her my book, shopping guide and gave her the address for her. I hope she gets on here! The doctor, as usual, was in rare form. He pulled his stepping on the scale while weighing her, tried to tell her she had syphilis. Her jaw dropped. He harrassed me, told her he was ignoring me because I was family! He is such a hoot!
When I got home, my daughter and son in law were over. I got the SIL to fix some salmon for Tom for dinner. I had a couple deviled eggs, and some yogurt. I just did not feel like eating tonight. The salmon turned out really well, and Tom was happy again after eating! ;)
I took a dip in the pool, and just got dried off. It was cold tonight! Especially as the sun went down! I was shivering when I came in. It was kind of nice!
I had my three month review today. It went pretty well. I would have liked a higher score, but the assistant manager who did the review is like my adopted daughter, was in my daughters wedding, etc. I feel sure she felt like she had to be hard on me so no one could claim she was playing favorites. My overall rating was very good, so I think she did fine! :D
I work again tomorrow, so I am going to hit the pillow early tonight. Hope all is well with everyone!
:write: Enough from me....Good night!

I'm baaaack.
Yesterday was our 40th wedding anniversary and we went away for the weekend. Actually, we just went to one of the swanky hotels in the south part of town, near the attractions. It was great. On the way to the hotel my DH took me to the high class mall that opened recently--the one with Macy's, Nieman Marcus, etc. and bought me a sexy nightgown. So---we had a nice time this weekend. :o
We got home about 2 Sunday and then went out again to our small group at 5:30. I went with a friend to St. Augustine today and so am now just getting on the board. I start my French class tomorrow and know I will be pretty busy from now on. I hope I am not biting off more than I can "chew."
Monet--Congratulations on the loss. Good luck on continued success. I am staying the same even with the carnitine. I don't know if I need to count calories again. I just HATE to do that. My new doctor doesn't seem to think I should have to. I'll see her in a few weeks and will discuss it again with her.
Gotta go. It's late and I still have to clean up the kitchen and fold clothes

Fruit- 9 pounds? That's great!
Gator- your pic didn't look like you're old enough to have been married 40 years! Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
Yes, the kids are growing like crazy. Ashley is now 7, in the 2nd grade, and weighs 62 pounds(she's tall). Boogie has grown alot since his last surgery in Oct. He weighed 23 pounds in Oct. and now he weighs 30. He's still small for his age(3). He wears 12-18 months shorts and will probably wear them again next year. He has no butt at all. His shirts though, are size 24 months and 2T. He has an old man figure, lol. Anyway, I'm trying to make myself tired by playing on the computer. Oh, I didn't eat a snack earlier like I said I was. I should have because by the time supper got ready, I was starving. I ate 2 steaks! But I think I did okay for the day. Guess I'll find out in the morning. Well, goodnight all...

HiedieHo All!
Was off, out and about yesterday. So didn't get on the computer. Today I went to the nursing home, shopping, worked on a project etc. It seemed quiet here somehow; GD is at college, DIL at work and DS is away on business trip. So not much to do supper-wise.
COUNTRY: WOW! That's a lot of walking! I'm sure we are all impressed, Good for you.
DEB: MY Dh couldn't remember our anniversary either and had a problem with my bday. He said it was because DS was born day before my bday and he couldn't remember which date was mine! Of course getting things ready for a party for DS each year helped him. But I knew he loved me!
TEENSY: You bring back memories. I was a canning and freezing fool! Loved doing it even though it could be hard work. We always made our own sauerkraut. We didn't have a place cool enough for the crock method. Tried it once and it spoiled. We made it in quart mason jars with the zinc lids and rubber gaskets! We would make 50 qts! One time did 75! We made so much since friends would want a jar or two. If you'd like I could e-mail the recipe to you if you send me your address.
MISSY: Great loss! Guess now that GD is at LSU I better become a fan and keep track of things!
I have the trots have to go. Will finish tomorrow.
My MM:
I Believe.......
I believe that we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change.
I believe that no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you
every once in a while and you must forgive them for that.
I believe that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.
I believe that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.
I believe that it's taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.
I believe that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.
I believe that you can keep going long after you think you can't.
I believe that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.
I believe that either you control your attitude or it controls you.
I believe that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.
I believe that heroes are the people who do what has to be done when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.
I believe that money is a lousy way of keeping score, it does not matter who has more
I believe that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing and have the best time.
I believe that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you're down, will be the ones to help you get back up.
I believe that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right to be angry,
but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel.
I believe that just because someone doesn't love you the way you want
them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have.
I believe that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences
you've had and what you've learned from them and less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.
I believe that it isn't always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.
I believe that no matter how bad your heart is broken the world doesn't stop for your grief.
I believe that our background and circumstances may have influenced
who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I believe that just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they
don't love each other And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do.
I believe that you shouldn't be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.
I believe that two people can look at the exact same thing and see
something totally different.
I believe that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people
who don't even know you.
I believe that even when you think you have no more to give, when a
friend cries out to you will find the strength to help.
I believe that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human
being.
I believe that the people you care about most in life are taken from you
too soon. So remember to let them know you care.
Take care, Shirley

Tuesday Morning---
Here's a quickie to let you all know I am here, just not able to post. I am finishing up our Altrusa yearbook and it has to be done by tomorrow night's meeting. So I've been swamped with that. Every dang time I proofread it, I find something else to change. Yes, the answer is to STOP proofreading.
My stomach has been in knots and just not doing well for the past couple of days. I hate this. When it gets like this, the only thing that sounds good is soda crackers or pretzels. So needless to say, I've had way too many starchy carbs and the wrong ones to boot! I'm sure I'll have a poopy weigh in tonight at WW.
BOB---Sorry to hear about Skeeter's latest digestive woes. I hope he gets back on track sooner than later. Are you feeding him rice and chicken? That will get rid of the diarrhea. Also a piece of Pepto Bismal has also been suggested to me for when Maddie gets her system out of wack.
I'd better go. I need to get to work earlly to take care of some non-work stuff. Thank goodness I have an understanding boss who wants me to be in Altrusa and likes what that club does.
Take care. I doubt if I'll make it to chat tonight. I miss you all!!!

Good morning everyone. Just got DH off to work and walked on my TM. Got on my scaled this morning and it said I weighed 816. Yep thats right!!! It has a tiny little round battery and its out so I'll have to wait till the end of the week and get one at Wal Mart. Dang!! I know this tiny town won't haven't one. Oh well when I get it back up and running maybe I'll have a nice loss...And maybe that weigh in yesterday wasn't right.
Debelli- Sorry you had such an awful headache but its good you were able to lay down and get rid of it. Hope you rested up good last evening. Wonder if you're out doing your walk?! And what in the heck is PB flour? Remember I'm out in the sticks and have to be kept up on these things....
Bob- Oh my goodness poor skeeter, I hate when my dog is sick. Hope he stopped after that last blast...I give my boston terrier pepto bismo. A Tablespoon.
fruitloupe- I'm so sorry you're depressed and having such a bad time. Bless your heart Missy you're really having it rough. I'm sure the Zoloft will help. My sis took it and it didn't cause weight gain and really helped her. And now days we all need a little help now and then. I just know things are going to work out for you. Wow 9 lbs. what a wonderful loss. I'll do the happy dance for you and when things get better we'll do it together.
Monet- Congradulations on your good review. Thats great!!!! Yum SIL needs to cook me salmon. Your doctor sounds so neat. The kind I'd like to have. I hope your friend comes on here and joins our family and does well. Its so good she has you, wouldn't we all have liked to start out with someone helping us along the way. I sure would have liked to have a buddy to answer so many questions. Its just great this board was here...

Good Tueday Morning.
I'm ready for a nap and it's only 8:30. Got up at 5:15 and convinced myself to walk. Now I'm dragging.
Did get 3 miels in last night and my wt training. Hopefully I can do that all week.
I'm a day late with this MM tip but I thought it held true for us SB:
Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.
Now to catch up..
Toni, yes we can do this. It's good to have D doing this along with you. I tell mine he is my policeman. Don't let me eat anything I'm not supposed to. Wow, that's what I call a big gain! Better get that battery quick!
Heartmom, glad you are back on track. Come on think positive, maybe you'll be down a pound.
Willow, subway breads are not legal. But they will make a salad for you. The surdough burger, probably not real sourdough, but maybe in a pinch would be the lesser of two evils. I ate BK's once but only ate 1 pc of the bread.
Libra, It is such a good feeling to get things in order. You feel like you have accomplished something.
Pancho, Hope your pain gets better soon or at least you find out the problem. I have been having a tightening around my chest, thought it was chest pains, but after all your responses, maybe it is my gallbladder acting up. Interesting. Good luck with the nutrionist. It will be interesting to find out what he says. My DH is a big vitamin taker. About 12 different ones a day.
Deb, glad that headache passed w/o too much pain. I knew you would find an excuse not to cook. Fiber one in my cereal would probably be a good idea as I don't get enough fiber. The girl here at work goes to Curves and loves it. Her 10 year old daughter goes also.
Bob, poor Skeeter. Hope this passes quickly. Maybe he is nervous about the trip. DD ives in a condo with 2 other girls. One of the girls' mom bought it and is renting it to them. Very nice.
Fruit, Good for you getting right back on track. That is the key. Congrats on the 9 lbs. and not eating during your depression. Don't let a little indescretion turn into a full binge. You are doing so great. I hate that you will have yet another surgery. My DD has endo and she has had one surgery and is still in pain every month. I hate to think this is going to be soemthing she has to do more than once. Count your blessings when you feel down about someone being preg. I know it's tough on you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Monet, glad you did well in your review. Can't imagine you not scoring off the chart as sweet as you are and such a hard worker. Funny how men can be happy just from a meal!
Gator, happy anniversary. 40 years is something to be proud of. Sounds like Dh is very happy too if he is shopping for a new nighty for you. How fun. Good luck with your french class.
Sef, as ususal you are one busylady. Loved the MM.
Kim, I was looking for you on the exercise board. Hope your stomach feels better soon.
Going to be a busy day. Will be out of the office a lot today. Hope to get back on later.
Have a great OP Day!

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone:wave:
Well, I sure won't be getting heat-stroke today! I went out for my walk this morning and got caught in a torrential downpour, to the point many areas of the streets got flooded.:rain: I had an emergency poncho with me, didn't help much though, by the time I got that sucker open, I was wet, but at least it kept my Walkman dry:D Got in my 4.5 miles - I think I'm going to give myself a clap:clap:
I saw a post on one of our other boards that ticked me off this early in the morning and would like for you all to see it, just click below:
POST ON OTHER BOARD (http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&postid=436829#post436829)
Any comments? You KNOW this really had to irk me for me to write that! And I was being nice too;)
My DM is coming over and we're going to run around a few places today, so I have to make this a tad quick so I can get ready...geez, now it's storming again, lightening and thundering. I should shut down the computer, but then I'd never get caught up!
BOB, sorry to hear about poor SKEETER, but as I understand it, he's like PRINCE, aka THE ARTIST FORMELY KNOWN AS PRINCE. See, as I heard it from SKEETER, he's been bored being just a dog and now he wants to be known as a soon to be famous artist,
POOP-CASO!!!!!! I've been laughing all morning, ever since I thought of that!!! Told the kids and MICHAEL said it was a good one!!! Congrats to the addition to the family to come - boy-oh-girl, that kid doesn't know the spoiling he's/she's going to get with you around!
FRUIT, you're doing so well, glad to hear that!:D Sorry I missed you too, will definitely try, try again! I'm sorry you are feeling so down, I have told you how I've felt many times and I know there are brighter days ahead for you. As for the Zoloft, no idea about the side-effects-should be able to find info on the web though.
MONET, hope your friend decides to join us - that's great to have someone you can help too! Please tell her not to be a stranger. Good going on the review - I'm sure she would of probably given you a higher marking if you weren't such good friends.
GATOR, sounds like you had a really nice weekend, CONGRATS on 40 YEARS!! Good luck with your French classes this year.
HEART
SEF, I know he loves me, but it would be nice to know on that special day. At least I know I'm not alone!
QUILTER, girl, I've missed you! Hope you find some free time soon. Good luck at WW!!! Let us know!
TONI, PB FLOUR is peanut butter flour! It's wonderful. It's partially defatted and you just mix in a little water and a tad of salt and viola, you got PB that has only 33 calories a tbl and I think 2.5 grams of fat. It's in a huge can and well worth the price! I got it from a place that sells dehydrated foods.
JACKK, good for you for getting out and walking, even if you are dragging now. Just an ounce of Fiber One gives you 14 grams of fiber! You def. should get some. Tonight, I plan on cooking but no one is going to be home - maybe I should wait;)
Okay, gotta run - will get back on later today.

My TUESDAY TIP contribution:
SHAPE UP
Calorie claims stretch truth on food labels
By Charles Stuart Platkin
I just came back from the supermarket, and I must say it's dizzying to see all the products claiming to be low fat, reduced fat, fat free, lean, healthy, light — the list goes on and on.
As a health-conscious eater with a taste for the "good stuff," I always look for "calorie bargains" — the foods that taste great, but at a reduced calorie level.
You would think that with all the nutrient information on packages, it would be a breeze to figure out which foods will help you stay trim. But buyer beware.
Even though the Food and Drug Administration regulates the use of these terms (known as "nutrient content claims"), food labeling can still be misleading, even if technically accurate.
You don't need to be a lawyer or nutritionist to unravel the intricacies of food labeling law. If you're watching your weight, here's what you need to know:
Low-fat lies
Fat free: A fat-free food must have less than 0.5 grams of fat per serving. The key words here are "per serving" — these claims are based on a standardized serving size that is often unrealistic.
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray is a good example of how this can be misleading — even though the label boasts "zero" calories and fat, that's just for a few sprays. If you were to use 25 sprays, it's actually 20 calories and about 2 grams of fat — and while this is still low, it's not "zero."
Take a look at another popular product — Pam Cooking Spray (one of my longtime favorites). Although Pam has less than 0.5 grams of fat per serving, technically qualifying it for the "fat free" claim, the FDA thought such an assertion on a product that is essentially 100 percent fat (that's right — it's full of fat) would be misleading. The compromise was to allow Pam (and these types of products) to put the words "for fat-free cooking" on the label.
Another problem is that fat-free versions often have close to the same amount of calories as the "full fat" versions.
For example, 9 of Nabisco Snackwell's Fat-Free Wheat Crackers have 108 calories, 0 grams of fat, and 21.6 grams of carbohydrates, whereas 9 Nabisco Premium Saltine Crackers have 108 calories, 2.7 grams of fat, and 18 grams of carbohydrates.
Low fat: To qualify as low-fat, a food must contain 3 grams of fat or less per serving. (Again, notice those words — "per serving.") Remember, just because something is low in fat doesn't mean it's healthy or low in calories.
For instance, Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Low-Fat Frozen Yogurt contains 190 calories, 2.5 grams of fat, and 36 grams of carbohydrates per serving. On the other hand, plain old Breyers Chocolate Ice Cream has 160 calories, 9 grams of fat, and 18 grams of carbohydrates per serving.
Reduced or less fat: To qualify as a reduced-fat food, the product must have at least 25 percent less fat per serving than the original version.
No one would argue that less fat is better, but how much better? Take peanut butter for example. As implied by the name, Jif Reduced-Fat Peanut Butter contains 4 fewer grams of fat than regular — except it's the heart-healthy fat that's missing. And both versions contain the same amount of calories — about 190 per serving — and the same amount of artery-clogging saturated fat. Why skimp on the good fat for additional chemicals and sugar?
Plus, when the label says reduced fat, you might assume you can eat larger servings, without realizing the additional calories you're consuming.
At 140 calories and 6 grams of fat per ounce, Sun Chips French Onion flavor is labeled correctly as 30 percent less fat than regular potato chips. While technically true, this snack item is still about 38.5 percent fat and does not meet the criteria for a low-fat food.
If you regularly snack on chips, then Sun Chips might make a better choice — but they are certainly not as virtuous as the label suggests.
So, if you see a "reduced-fat" claim, be wary — yes, it's reduced, but the question is, from what?
Bitter sweet
Sugar free: Sugar free means less than 0.5 grams of sugar per serving. Again, this doesn't mean that it is healthy or great for weight loss.
Take a look at Murray Sugar Free Chocolate Chip and Pecan Cookies, which have 160 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 19 grams of carbohydrates per serving. Compare this to a serving of the regular Famous Amos Chocolate Chip and Pecan Cookies at 150 calories, 8 grams of fat, and 19 grams of carbohydrates.
No added sugar: "No added sugars" and "without added sugars" claims are allowed if no sugar or sugar-containing ingredient (for example, fruit juices, applesauce, or dried fruit) is added during processing or packing. Pay attention though, because it can be stated on the package even if the food is not "low calorie" or "reduced calorie."
Fruit juice with no added sugar is a good example. It's still fairly high in calories and already high in other fruit sugars.
Ocean Spray No Added Sugar Cranberry Juice has 100 calories and 25 grams of carbohydrate per serving — only slightly less than the Ocean Spray Cranberry Cocktail, which has 109 calories and 27 grams of carbohydrate per serving.
Living light
Light: "Light" or "lite" products are also getting a lot of shelf space these days — but "light" is not synonymous with healthy. A "light" food is one that has 1/3 fewer calories OR half the fat of a previous version of the food.
A great example is the Milky Way Lite. Talk about technicalities:
Milky Way: 270 calories and 10 grams of fat
Milky Way Lite: 170 calories and 5 grams of fat
Here's the catch — a regular Milky Way weighs 58 grams, while a Milky Way Lite weighs only 44.5 grams. So basically, you could chop off 13.5 grams of your usual Milky Way, with similar nutritional results.
The term "light" can be confusing because it can also refer to the color or texture of the product, such as light olive oil. Its fat content is the same as any other olive oil — nearly 14 grams per tablespoon.
Nutrition experts say that one of the most important things to be aware of is what the FDA refers to as "reference amounts" or "serving sizes."
"These 'serving sizes' are the amounts that all nutrient information is based upon, and thus the claims that the manufacturer is allowed to make," says Nutritionist Leah Nemerson.
So, if you're using much more than the serving size on the label, you might want to shop elsewhere for your "calorie bargains."

I was gonna post yesterday but my goofy phone line keeps kicking offline...agh...Hopefully later today I can put in the new jack. I started on the floor in here yesterday so hopefully this week I'll have the dinning room done and no more tiles to put down. In a little bit I'm gonna attempt to move this computer table. I'm not sure if I have enough strength.
I wanted to roll back over this morning but I did get out and walk. I did weight in yesterday...it wasn't pretty...LOL I don't know why the weight has decided to take up residence on my bode but aghghhh..:D Not losing inches, not losing pounds but my heart is getting healthy. Gonna give it two more weeks. I did get frustrated yesterday and ate some glazed ham.
Deb WTG getting out there and walking. You are doing so good. Sorry you got caught in the rain this morning. It was so hot last night we were praying for it to drizzle on us but Noooooo. :) It makes me sad that someone would think that we don't care over here. I know when I first came to the board everyone made me feel right at home.
Jack-K Sorry that your trip got canceled this weekend. WTG with the walking and weight training.
Toni You are doing so good. I had to laugh at the scales. Mine did that to me once. The ones I use now I got at Walmart. They have one of those titanium batteries that is suppose to last 10,0000 uses or something like that. They say a lifetime but they don't know how many times I step on them puppies a day. :)
Heartmom The pictures of your family were wonderful. I'm glad the scales went down for you. I understand how frustrating it can be to be stalled. Sometimes I think I'm a nut for trying so hard when nothing is happening. You've come a long way and you will reach goal. I sure wish I had one of those steaks.
Kim Sorry you are not feeling so well. Praying your tummy feels better soon.
Monet Your doctor sounds like a hoot. I'm glad you will be able to help your co-worker. It's on thing to chose a WOE because you want to and another because you have to. Hopefully since you are doing it it will encourage here that it's not so bad.
Sef Morning. Sounds like you had a busy weekend.
Poncho hey skinny. :) How neat to get to talk to the nutrionist. I hope you learn a lot in your hour.
Libra Praying for you as you sort through your things. I'm sure you have many treasures over 35 years. Hoping you are able to make a place in your new home for those that mean the most to you.
Gator Welcome back and happy late anniversary!
Fruit Praying that your surgery goes well and that you get some good news from the dr. ((hugzz))
Bob Good morning. Sorry your pup had the bad tummy this morning. Not the best way to start your day. Our cat decided she would stay in last night....no litter box....Jess got the joy of taking care of her mess.
Willow Good to see you've found the board. I don't think I'd eat the bread at either place. Probably just pull the goodies off the bun. At subway I always get the salad verus the sandwich.
Well, this is not getting the floor done. I'll sneak back on in a bit and see how everyone's day is going.
Be blessed, encouraged...stay strong...on plan and know you are the best YOU there is!!!
Love and hugs,
Crystle

Good Tuesday Morning; still waiting for TOM to make debut.
Today will be my DD first full 3-hour day of kindergarten; I know she will do great. I drop her off at noon and then meet with the nutritionist at 1:00. I have so many questions....I better make a list.
Deb: I hope your head is better today! Good luck finding a gym that you will enjoy. I go to Naturally Women and I love it. The one I go to is fairly new. It is only women and is very large. I've never had to wait for any equipment. They also have childcare; which is a big sell for me. Great job getting your walk in this morning in the rain; that's motivation. Wow,what a post on that other board. I felt as if there were some strong friendships here as well, but that said a lot about the board. I felt welcome from the beginning.
fruit: Good luck with the surgery; way to spend your time off. Sorry you have to go through all this. Congrats on the 9 pound loss; you are doing so fantastic!!! Try to stay strong and not to get too depressed. I know it is much easier said than done. I tried nearly two years to get pregnant with baby #2, and it seems everyone I knew was pregnant or getting pregnant. One mom I knew was pregnant twice during that time. It comes so easily to some and some of us have to work extra hard for it. I hope the doctors are able to help get everything in line for you to conceive.
Gator: Happy Anniversary!! Glad you and hubby had a great time.
Toni: Maybe you will get a new scale and be pleasantly surprised. I didn't even know that a broken scale had numbers that high on it.
Jack: Way to get that walk in this morning!!!
Country: Made your Lasagne recipe last night and it was delicious! I forgot to put the parm. cheese in the sauce, but it still turned out great! I also used some organic spag. sauce I had on hand -vs- the one you suggested. There is enough for leftovers tonight, and I even froze some of it. Thanks for the recipe! Try not to get discouraged; you are doing fantastic!!
Well, I still have to eat breakfast and get a few things done around here.
Take care & have a great day!!

OK GALS....THIS IS DEFINATELY THE WAY TO GO!!!!
No nursing home for me!!
With the average cost for a Nursing Home per day reaching $188.00, there is a better way when we get old &feeble.
I have ascertained that I can get a nice room at the Holiday Inn for around $65.00...that leaves $123.00 a day for beer, food (room service), laundry, gratuities and special TV movies. They have a swimming pool, a workout room, a lounge, washer, dryer, etc. Most have free toothpaste and razors, and all have free shampoo and soap.
Super 8 is somewhat more economical and they have a free breakfast, though you usually have to walk next door for lunch and dinner.
There may be a bit of a wait to get that first floor room, but that's OK, it takes months to get into decent nursing homes. There is the Senior Bus, the Handicap bus (if you fake a decent limp), a Church bus or van, cabs, and even a regular bus. For a change of lunch take the Airport Bus and eat at one of the fast food cafe's there.
The Inn has security, and if someone sees you drop over, they will call an ambulance. And should you break a hip, the American Way is to Sue. What more can you ask for?
As a bonus, they all have AARP and other Senior discounts.
So: When I reach the Golden age help me keep my grin Just check my old rickety *** into the nearest Holiday Inn!

Deb, good response. I can't imagine any coming here and not being welcomed whole heartedly. i sure was. WTG on walking all that way inthe rain. I can't believe you had a poncho with you. I walk with nothing.
Country, good for yoiu getting out there even though you wanted to sleep in. I just can't imagine why yoiu are not losing unless you are building muscle. I know it is depressing. But like you said, you are getting healthy.
Pancho, can't wait to hear what the nutritionist says. Let us know.
Bob, you are so crazy, you are probably really planning on going to the Holiday Inn.
Back later I hope.

Monet is so mad she could eat nails. Are they SB legal?
The schedule for next week was posted last night. My very annoying manager scheduled me to work five days next week! I had told him I was going to be teaching a class on Thursdays, and he said ok. This is the first Thursday he has scheduled me in over six weeks! And I am not supposed to be working more than three days a week! I do not know what he is thinking, but I would not be surprised to find out he does not have a brain! I can't help but wonder if he thought, oh, she doesn't want to work on Thursdays, so I will schedule her, just to show her who is the boss! :censored:
My co-worker was asking a lot of questions, and working hard to stick to the program today. The baker was trying to get her to eat white bread, and she wouldn't. The doctor told her to avoid spicy foods for a month, and she was being very careful there too. I think she is going to go great!
The store had Maverik brand chuck roasts on sale today. I bought just about all they had. I spent a lot, but filled the freezer with roasts. Tom really prefers beef, and the Mavarik is antibiodic and hormone free, and very low fat. I came home and put one in the crockpot for dinner tonight.
Guess I will go take a bit of a nap, and come back later. I am getting pretty tired....

Good afternoon ladies...... don't have alot of time again, but want to put in an appearance, and wish all of you a great day!!
When I came here in March, I received nothing but hearty welcomes, and excellent advice, along with plenty of answers for all the questions I had. THIS IS A GREAT BOARD!! :cb:
I finally tamed our stray cat enough to get her into the vets this morning. We are getting her spayed, and giving her shots. She cried all the way there this morning! Just about broke my heart. When I pick her up, she will see that she has a brand new fluorescent pink collar with a little bell, and some kitty treats!!
Next we will try and introduce her to the puppies. That ought to be fun. The Bassethounds I am not worried about, but our Shar Pei mix is another story. I plan on leaving her in her pet porter for this adventure. I just want my pups to get her scent, and know that she is a part of this family.
I am making pizza tonight for dinner. Bill requested it. I am trying a recipe for the crust from the recipe files here. I KNOW I will probaby over eat, but am hoping not too bad. I haven't eaten pizza for over two years. ( I have made Quiche Pizza) I just have to keep telling myself that the second slice tastes just like the first!! Wish me luck.
I think we may be going to the lake tomorrow. Dh had to work again this morning......I could get used to this very easy!! Honestly, he has put in his time. But he says he does feel better when he is working. Too bad he couldn't just work three days a week!! Then we could still go to the lake and and have our running around time!!
Well, I will get to replies this evening. I have got to go get lunch ready. Bill didn't want breakfast this morning so he is hungry! He's a boy, he's always hungry!!

  Hi All and Welcome all Newbies.
Just a quick moment to keep in touch. Hubby is sick...he is never sick and so he is pitiful. Pharmacy didn't even have him in the computer when I tried to fill his prescription and we've been going there for over 13 years!
I'm sort of blue and down. It may be because of lack of sleep. Trying to snap out of it!
I'd like to chime in on the issue from the other post re: the support on this board. I have been coming on this board for years and have always been welcomed. I think part of the confusion some of the newbies may have is the weekly support board vs. general SB question board. I try and see if there is a post but most days, I only come to the weekly support board. The other issue is that most of us have put ALL of our knowledge etc. on the SB information board. So just by looking through the boards most of the questions can be answered there! Debbie clearly gives all of these instructions on her opening post each morning. We want to support all and welcome all. Also, FYI we KNOW each other because we post here. Before posting here I didn't personally know anyone here...
OK hope everyone has a great day...

OH....MY....GAWD !!!!! IT'S RAINING LIKE POURING **** OUT OF A BOOT!!!! :rain:
DEB...I think you willed this stuff up here just for spite!!!!!! I've love SKEETER'S new name!!! I'll be passing that one along
I just got through conversing with SUSAN and she said to tell you that it's gonna be another one of those weeks. She probably won't be able to get on the board until after SEPT 10th...BUT....If you see her before that, you can condiser it a treat!!!!
THANKS EVERYONE for the suggestions on SKEETER'S problem...
I take a baby squirter and fill it with (sp?) kaopectec....he likes it because it tastes like chocolate and as y'all know....he can't have real chocolate!!! :s: I'm not his best friend after doing this, but at least it helps....
TRAVEL PLANS.....have changed....Kate called me this afternoon and has decided that she doesn't want to spend 11 hrs in the car on Thursday and now we're gonna leave about 2p.m. tomorrow and drive up to Cordele Ga and spend the night at a SKEETER friendly place that we have used in the past. He has got to be better, he eats KRYSTAL hamburgers on trips.....he absolutely loves the little things......BOB and KATE do too!!!! ;)
SO....that means that everything that I originally had two days to do, now has to be done in a few hours tonight......like bathing SKEETER...washing his bed and getting it dried (a major task!)
packing..etc...etc.....
PLEASE FORGIVE ME AGAIN FOR NOT GETTING TO EVERYONE>....
I'll be in touch from my cousin's and will fill you in on our adventures!
MONET....does this mean that we won't be able to get together
next week? Susan only has her birthday on the 3rd, and isn't really sure about that....I'd hate to think that we have to put this off AGAIN!!! Susan said she is in need of "that flour that MONET has her hooked on!" :p

Hey friends
Popping in to tell you a little funny...I talked to a friend today that takes Zoloft and she said that she did put on a lot of weight - and her boobs grew! Oh my! I definitely don't want that to happen being that I just got my boobs reduced! I got it filled today and I'll start taking it and see what happens. I definitely don't want or need to gain weight. I think that if weight gain had been a side effect, she wouldn't have given it to me - she knows I'm trying to lose. I'll keep you posted

BOB: The third is Wednesday.... I am working 7 to 1. I may be able to slide out a bit early, if necessary. Let me know what time you are hitting the area... To meet you, I will do what ever I can. Funny you are going to stay in Cordele. My husband is from around there. We drive through Cordele on our way to visit his mother. :)
Time for bed...sweet dreams everyone!

Well, it is late again. I was kept busy til 8:30 tonight. The pizza was wonderful!! Who ever posted the crust recipe did a great job. A neighbor of ours stopped in just as we were sitting down to eat. He finally agreed to have a small piece, said it was the best pizza crust he had EVER had. Dh is not a big pizza fan, but he agreed, likes the WW crust alot better than regular crust. I WAS BAD, I caved and had two pieces. But ate light for lunch and had a small dinner salad with dinner. So my total was 3 starchy carbs today.
My carbs for the day are as follows;
B--6 oz cantaloupe, BB Lite 85 1/2 c Fiber One, 1/4 c FF milk.
Apple
L-1/2 c Gazpacho, 5 oz cuke, onion tomato in red wine vingegar.
Pear
D- Salad, 2 pieces WW pizza....will just list the carbs.... (green pepper, onion, olives, pizza sauce, ww crust)
Probably had one too many fruits, but would rather snack on them than add more fats. I still have a hard time keeping them down.
Total for today
1452 calories
49 fat
15 sf
2 poly
8 mono
181 carbs
35 fiber
94 protein
Jack-k-- You are most welcome, it took me a while to figure it out, but now I use it 5 days a week. It seems like it takes forever when you first start, but once you get all your custom foods in.....name brands and such, it is pretty fast. I also use it to figure out how much of what is in new recipes. I take the totals and then divide by the number of servings I get. So now I know what is in my zucchini cake, or carrot cake per oz.
Heart-- Glad those monster scales were behaving themselves for you. A pound is a pound is a pound!! Any loss is SUPER!!
Libra-- Hello!
Pancho-- Which recipe board is the zucchini loaf on?? I have zucchini coming out my ears!! I am going to have to start shredding it and freezing it. Will see what I can find. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Deb-- I used to take all three of my dogs, but I never felt like I got a good work out. The bassethounds don't move too fast, always have their noses to the ground. Our Shar Pei on the other hand will walk the legs off me. Since I got the Total Body Trainer I haven't been doing any walking except when we go to the lake. I miss it, but really like my resistance work outs. And am losing alot of inches.
BOB-- Too funny!! I can just see Skeeter taking his tail and poo poo painting!! But then I woke up to a mess this morning too. I put our little stray cat in a wire cage last night because she was not supposed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight. I left the cage under dh truck where she always hangs out, so it was in the dirt so she would feel free to do her duty if need be. And it would fall through the wire. Without letting me know, Dh moved her into the shop!! Poor little girl, rather than mess on the concrete floor, she used her bed box!! PU!! But she is all cleaned up and doing fine now. No babies for this Itty Bitty Kitty!! Have a great trip, see you when you get back!!
Fruit-- Sorry you are having such a rough time. Maybe the Zoloft will be beneficial for you. I don't know have any info on it for you, just hope that it helps you out. 9 pounds is AWESOME!! You have every right to be estatic!!
Monet-- What is the SB shopping guide? I have heard it mentioned before. And where would I get a peak at one? I am quite sure that you are a great asset to your place of employment!! They are darn lucky to have you. So of course your review should have been good!! AM I PARTIAL......no way!!
Gator-- Glad you had a wonderful time. Sexy night gowns......ooh laa laa!! (Was that French??) Happy Anniversary, belated.
Sef-- I would love to have your recipe. I am not sure yet just how we are going to do this. I am getting a few different recipes and then will probably go with DH pick. I would appreciate having yours too. Hope you are not still trotting around today. Please get to feeling better!
Quilter-- Sounds like you are very busy! Sometimes we just have to put the weight loss on hold, and get ourselves back to feeling better. You will be okay once you are over this bug or what ever it is.
Toni-- WOW 816 pounds, just think of the loss you will have when you replace the battery. LOL.
Country-- Wow, you are really racking up the miles. WTG. Don't get frustrated, believe me I have been there. I went over 6 months of not losing any weight. And I was walking 4 miles a day then. For me the answer was SB. I had to start eating more. Deb really helped me with this one. Maybe you need to jounal for a couple of weeks and see if there is a problem there?? Maybe not enough calories now that you are doing all that walking. I wanted to finish losing sooooo bad, that I sabotaged myself.
Well gang, I am off to search for a few recipes. See in in the morning.

Good morning everyone. Just got off the TM and so thats out of the way. Get a a hair cut and permanet this moring. Yippee I feel like a slob with my hair ugly. I've been pretty tired for some reason and wonder if its because this is just the second week on this WOE and my body is adjusting. I'm also drinking less coffee in the morning. Anyway I'll ride it out. The days are getting a little easier and I'm getting back in the routine of eating right. I think my DH is catching on to it to. I noticed he took the dog for a walk last night thats unusual....
Angehaley- Congrads on the new scale. I had the same problem with mine when I got it new. Now the battery is dead and I'm lost. I've just got to find one.....
Monet- Your boss sounds like some kind of work!! I hope you get it worked out. I hope your co worker does well. It would sure be nice to have someone to work with that is on SB to and doing good. I also shop at a meat store that has natural hormone free beef. Its a little more expensive but I like it allot better. We even tried ground buffalo this week and it was good. I put it in my lasagna. Anyway its supposed to be really healthy.
Teensybean- Your poor kitty but she will be so happy to see you and get her new collar. Thats what I did to our cat to introduce her to the dogs. We had a large old parrot cage (no parrot in it) and put her in there so everyone could get used to each other. I know what you mean about your DH working only 3 days a week. It would be fun if Steve could do that too. I would want to camp lots. I make pizza once in awhile and we sure like it. I usually have the leftovers for lunches. Glad it turned out so good.
beachfan- Hope your hubby is feeling better. Sorry you didn't sleep well and hope you had a better night last night. To bad it isn't cooler and you could go for a nice walk, sometimes that helps...
Heartmom- Dang I couldn't get the pictures but they sound so cute....
Bob- Have a great trip and I hope you get skeeter's bed all dried. He must have a big fluffy one.
Fruitloupe- Good luck on the Zoloft. Dang I hope it doesn't put on weight. Surely not...
Well this is all for now. I'll pop back in after while. Have a great SB day.....

Good Morning All
Thought I'd better check in for WIW. I've had a lot of running around this week including some babysitting so have not had much time to get on board. I am down a pound from last week to 191.5 which is half a pound less than my lowest of a few weeks ago. Hope I can break the nineties barrier soon.
These are the carbs that I had a couple of days ago. Haven't yet figured it out for yesterday:
CountryMom - I know what it is like to be stalled for such a long time but I second what Jack-K said that it could be because you are not eating enough. Are you journalling? I was stalled for about 18 months until I took Debbies advice and checked out the site that figures out how many calories I should be taking in for my height and activity etc. I then started using FitDay again and made sure I got in the calories that were suggested (at the same time I was restricting my starchy carbs but taking in a lot of ther carbs.) Anyway after a couple of weeks of this I started to lose again. Very slowly but it is coming off. It's taken me a couple of months to lose about nine pounds but it is slowly coming off. As long as I take in enough calories by dinner time I find that most days I don't even need to snack in the evening. Hope you can figure out something that will work for you.
Deb - I must say that I have never known anyone not to be welcomed on this board - and I have been around for almost three years.
Angehaley - When my ds got his new electronic scale and I started using it I was disappointed to see that I was 5.5 pounds heavier than on my old mechanical scale. I started off by deducting that amount each time I weighed but that got cumbersome so I ended up accepting the new weight but upped my starting weight so no matter what scale I was using I new how much I had lost since starting sb. It took a while to accept those higher figures but what will be will be.
Pussywill - I answered your question about the cheesecake on the other board but will post it here as well in case you don't see it over there. "The HONEY LEMON CHEESECAKE recipe is on the Jan/Feb/March 2003 RECIPE BOARD. I've just brought it to the top of the RECIPES page so you should be able to find it now. If you want to see other recipes go to the SB Recipes page, scroll to the bottom of the page to where it says "Showing threads 1- 10" etc and click on the right hand column and choose "beginning" and you will see several more recipe boards from previous years.
I think it is ok to have this for a treat when you are just starting on SB as long as you watch the portions - which can be hard to do. My reason for not baking or making desserts too often. I just don't have the willpower not to eat too much.:(."
Heartmom - They were great pics of you and Ashley and Boogie.
BOB - I think I will be moving in to the Holiday Inn with you when the time comes.. Have a safe trip.
Teensybean - Which pizza crust recipe did you use. I know there are several on our recipe boards.
Fruitloupe - Hope you begin to feel better when taking the Zoloft. I checked my drug book and although it doesn't mention weight gain it does say that one of the UNCOMMON side effects is increased appetite.
I wish everyone a good WIW. Hello to Jack-K, Monet, Toni, Beachfan, Pancho, Quilter, Sef, Libra, Woodfrogs. Hope I haven't missed anyone. Time to go and get breakfast and jump in the shower. Have to get out to do a bit of grocery shopping. I want to make some ww oatmeal bread so that I have something legal to take to work with me next week.
Gotta run.
Marie.

Happy WIW.
Hope the scale is good to everyone today. I'm weighing, just not telling. Working on it though.
Got in a total of 5 miles yesterday and 40 minutes of wt training and floor exercises. All that exercise doesn't leae much time for anything else. I have a ton of ironing to do but to tired at night to get it done. Guess I will do it piece by piece.
Was going to walk this morning, but I didn't even hear DH's alarm and didn't wake up until he left. Then it's too late to go. Will get it in tonight.
Angehaley, Glad you got a new scale, but that is a bummer on weighing more on it.
Monet, Can you talk to your boss and get your schedule changed? Men! It is so nice that your friend has you to guide her along. I'm sure she will do great with your help and it will probably help keep you on track as well.
Teensy, glad you enjoyed your pizza. 2 pieces aren't that bad. Did you make it in a bread machine or by hand? Hope yourkitty does ok. I like shredded zuchinni in my salad. Yum!
Beach, hope your DH feels better soon. Mine is never sick either. Hope you get out of your funk.
Heartmom, The kids are precious. Ashley looks like she is ready to conquer the world or at least the school. Your's is great too. Have always said how pretty you are and I love your hair.
Bob, I believe Krystle burgers are like white castles, Poor Skeeter, If he gets over his problem, those will surely do him in. I love them too. Can you believe my coworker has never had one.
Fruit, I saw a commercial for Zoloft last night and it mentioned side effects of drowsiness, constipation. The normal things. Maybe they onlu list the common things on TV.
Rosalie, Congrats on your loss. You will be out of those 90's soon I know it.
Congrats to all the losers today, and the rest of us, we just need to persevere.

Good morning, ladies.
Deb - I posted on the other site to the unhappy poster. I understand where she is coming from. It is hard to join an established group. However, as I told her, all of you have been wonderful about welcoming and encouraging me. It takes time to create a close connection and friendships. It's been hard for me to take steps to work on these things, but the problem has been with me, not the group. This is something I work on constantly. It goes a long way back to feeling like no one could possibly want to be friends with me. I could write a book on low self-esteem, but there are plenty of them out there already.
Anyway, thanks everyone for being so warm and welcoming. I'm feeling pretty good about his bunch after only a two week history of being here. You're a great group!
T-bean - I loved your comment to Toni about her WI of over 800 lbs! That will be the magical weight loss I've always dreamed of - going to bed fat and waking up thin!
WIW - I regained a pound, but I know what I did wrong. Oh, well, another day, another opportunity to be healthy.

Good Morning Everyone!
It's been almost a week since I came to the boards...This has been for a couple of reasons. One my schedule has continued to be crazy and will probably continue to be for sometime now. But the second and more prominent one is b/c I've been doing some soul searching about my eating. I am feeling really confused about what to do, to be honest. I really love you all, and the support here has been wonderful, but I have been feeling really disappointed by my weight loss since I started this WOE. I thought it would be like ATkins was for me 6 years ago "easy, a no brainer" but it hasn't been. And I worry about the feasabilty of this working for me, especially once I start internship. I am not going to have a lot of time to come here and get support and I find finding SB legal food a real challenge at times (esp when I'm running and don't have time to prepare stuff myself). So I've been trying to decide what to do. I have been eating fine and tracking everything, I guess I just feel guilty coming here and asking for support when I've feeling unsure about SB working for me. I don't want anyone to think I'm dumping on or down talking SB, I'm just not sure if it is right for me. So that's why I've been staying away.
I've been thinking about trying WW (again) and incorporating a lot of what I've learned from SB and all of you, but I think that if I do WW I would have to be less SB strict b/c trying to follow both "totally" would probably make me insane with everything else that is on my plate. (just too much to keep track of)
Anyway, I didn't want you all to think I had just fallen off the planet or that something was seriously wrong. I've just been trying to figure this all out.
If anyone has advice to share I welcome it as always.
Thank you!
Steph

Good Wednesday Morning:
TOM arrived; Yuck!! I did weigh in this morning at 125.5 (that's 1 - 1.5 up from last week), but will take it. I did get to the gym early this morning and did 5 minutes on eliptical, 30 minutes on treadmill & did upper body workout on circuit and free weights.
Well, I'm not sure what to say about the nutritionist. I probably already knew most of what he told me. He was also big into macrobiotic diet (I think that is what it is called)...basically vegetarian with poultry & fish. I can't do that, and won't. He said that my diet looks really good and that I really didn't need to add too much for supplementation. He pretty much said I could go off the current supplements, and just take coq10, B complex, flax seed oil, calcium w/ mag., digestive enzymes, a green food supplement called Perfect Food. I, of course, will research everything and decide myself if I should/want to take it. He did tell me that Metamucil is harsh on the system, and flax seed oil or psyllum husks are the best for bulking agents. So...not sure that it was worth the money for someone to tell me that I eat well, which I know I do now that I am on SB, and to give me a little info. on a few more supplements. I think it all boils down to their personal beliefs -vs- what works best for the individual.
Anyway, my daughter did well on her first day of Kindergarten, and I did better than expected! I teared up a little, but got over it when I left. She is so outgoing and social that I knew she would do great. She talked about her day all the way home. We stopped at Wal-Mart to get her a lunchbox, and they were clearing them out already; they were marked $2. I got her two, that way they will make it through the year. Last year, one got all sticky and the zipper broke halfway through the year.
Boom: Welcome to SB. The Pretty Impressive Stuff site that was mentioned is probably your very best source of info. If you have any questions, come on over, and ask away.
angehaley: Glad you got a new scale; it made all the difference to me. Mine only does .5 increments, which is better than trying to read what the little needle said on my old one. You will fluctuate a tad from time to time; try not to get too obsessed (like I'm one to talk; I have to make sure I've emptied my bladder and don't have anything extra on my body when I weigh in first thing in the a.m.). AND, I try never to weigh later in the day, as I can sometimes be 3 pounds heavier.
Monet: I am sure you will be a great source of inspiration to your co-worker! It sounds as if she is really going to make it work.
Teensy: Hope your cat has a speedy recovery, and the introductions go well. I found the recipe for the zucchini bread in the recipe section (I think under cakes). I believe it is called a zucchini loaf cake, and it is delicious! Glad to hear the pizza crust turned out so well; I will have to try it.
heartmom: Your kids are precious, and it is so nice to put a face with a name!
BOB: Have fun; we will look forward to hearing from you.
fruit: Good luck with the zoloft.
Everyone have a great day!!! I am going to the mall when DD is in school to make some returns. I have a pair of pants to take back to Old Navy and a pair of shorts to take to Lerner NY; one size I am getting a smaller pair, and one a larger pair (go figure)!
I hope to check in later!!

Good morning everyone!! I was so excited to get out and take care of our kitty, that I forgot to weigh until after I had had my coffee and fruit, so I will do my weigh in tomorrow.
Kitty is fine, and back to her snobbish self. Yesterday while she was still under the pain meds she was all lovey dovey. NOT TODAY!! And she has already lost her pretty pink collar with the bell! Oh well...... she looked nice while it lasted, lol.
Toni-- Don't you just love having someone mess with your hair? I love going to get mine done. I think the tiredness could be the sugars and such leaving your body. Hope that is all it is anyway. Give it a few days and you will probably get a real burst of energy!
Rosalie-- Congrats on the loss...... new low!! How wonderful!! I will check the board and see which one I used.
Jack-k-- I made the crust by hand. It was so good. I am going to have leftovers for lunch. But I am going to only have 1 piece. Will let Bill have the rest. The kitty is back to her normal self this morning....and she has already lost her pretty pink collar!!
Ange-- TAKE A DEEP BREATH!!
Libra-- I hope you are over that feeling......we definitely want you to be here, and to be our friend. Each and everyone of us has something to contribute to this board, and that is what (in my opinion) makes it so successful!! Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all do that, wake up thin!!
Bashful-- I am a convert from Protein Power.....if Atkins was easy for you, this should be a snap!! Take what you ate on Atkins, and add a few more healthy vegetables, or a couple of different fruits, add a slice of whole grain bread, and you have SBer's! It really is a no brainer!! You don't have to make it complicated, KISS (keep it simple sweetie) Many people have great success with WW. My best friend got me started on the low carb woe, but couldn't stick to it herself. She joined WW has has lost over 45 pounds now. We just have to do what we feel is right for us. I wish you the best in what ever you decide to do. We are all for you taking care of and being healthy, no matter which way you get there!!
Pancho-- Sorry you were disappointed in the nutritionalist. Yes, we do eat very healthy don't we. I just love it!!

Well, I did it! I FINALLY lost for WIW:D It's probably been about a month. I'm around 182.5 which puts me at a 2.5 pound loss this week. Man, I was really getting discouraged. I looked at what I was eating and what I could change that might make me loose, since exercising and watching my starchy carbs alone weren't doing the trick. I realized that I was eating alot of protein which had alot of fat- like eating eggs and nsa bacon 3-4 times a week, or cheeseburgers(legal) for lunch,etc.. So I went back to eating my fruit in the morning and yogurt. Lunch this week has been salads(chef, garden, steak, tuna) with ranch dressing. Today I had a chef salad for lunch but still wasn't satisfied after eating it so I had a piece of toast(Nature's Own wheat n' fiber) with Smucker's peanut butter- that hit the spot. Later on I'm going to have a strawberry smoothie for my snack and supper tonight is going to be chili w/beans. All my clothes right now are loose on me- they have been for a couple of weeks, although the measuring tape says I haven't lost but about 2 inches total. I can wear SOME 14's, but the majority or too tight- I look like I'm going to bust at the seams:lol: Okay, I haven't done much with my life today other than return a rented movie and go get Joseph's meds. So I need to get off the computer and clean up and get my exercise in for the day( I skipped yesterday).
Teensy- the pizza sounds good. I wish I could make something like that- but don't know where to begin. Doesn't it take alot of time to make the dough? And don't beat yourself up! 2 slices of legal pizza? If it had been me it would have been 4!
Thanks for the compliments about the photos- BTW- do they show up blurry on ya'lls screen?

Just a quickie to catch up.
Ange, don't worry about that scale. The gain can be anything. Could be the wt of the food you last ate, hormones, water, etc. Try not to let it get you down. Sorry a bout losing the post, That is so frustrating. Happens to us all.
Libra, as long as you know what you did wrong and can fix it you are doing great. I would love to go to bed and wake up thin. Wouldn't we all. I'm glad you found us and we enjoy posting with you.
Bashful, we don't care which diet you follow. Everyone has to do what works for them. You are still welcome to come here when you can for support and friendship no matter what, Just pop in and say hi.
Pnacho, glad DD had a great afirst day. What a bargain on the lunchboxes. I was disappointed too with the info from the nutritionist. Was hoping for some exciting info. That is some strange vitamins to take.
Teensy, cats are strange animals. Can't believe she lost her collar already. Good advice to Bashful.
Heartmom, Congrats on the loss. that is great motivation for you to keep going. Good going on figuring out what was keeping you from losing.
Got to run.
have a great evening. Hope I don't melt tonight walking (or maybe I do) it is 9 here.

Disappointing second week!!! After a lose of 8lbs last week, this week I am up 1lb. I know it is because I havent stuck to the plan like I should. Also I honestly believe not logging on to this board regularly had alot to do with my straying from the plan. I started back to classes this week (I am one of those late bloomers. Going back for my degree in my 40's) and there just doesnt seem to be enough time each day to take care of everything on my list. I realize that I need the support from this board to keep on track, so I have to make the time to touch base with my fellow SBs.

TYS- you lost 8 pounds last week- that's a HUGE loss. Don't set your expectations too high. The first week or so, you'll probably lose the most. Then it will taper off to a slower pace. But keep with it and you'll see results. I've lost 87 pounds- but it's taken me 2 years. The good thing about a slow pace is you're less likely to put a bunch of it back on. I know several people that have lost alot of weight in the fraction of time it's taken me- but they are now heavier than I am and heavier than I've ever known them to be. Don't get discouraged- you might be up a pound this time- but next week you'll probably be back down again.
I just heard about the Chicago warehouse shooting- people are just going crazy nowadays.

Good afternoon. Got my perm done and I look so much better and also picked up a battery for my scale. So tomorrow I can weigh in.
Jack-k- Sounds like you're doing fine. Be careful about getting to hot... Are you wishing like me for a little cooler weather. Don't even mention white castles, it makes my mouth water just thinking about them. Your walking is so great....
Teensybean- I'll have to go looking for that recipe you used and see if its the same one I use...Yes its great to have a new perm. I feel so much better. Another reason I've been doing a little more so could be more tired. But you're probably right just my body adapting to SB again.
Heartmom-I finally was able to pull up your photos and they were so good. My goodness how the kids have grown. And you look so good.. Congrads on the weight loss
Pancho- Congrads on being a Senior!!!! LOL.... Well it was good the nutri. confirmed you were eating right. I'm glad your little one made it through school really well and her MOM did too...
bashful- Sorry it didn't work out for you. You're a real sweetie and I wish you success in what ever you deciede...
Libra-Yep something tells me tomorrow I'll have a few hundred lb. weight loss. LOL..... I liked your comment to the girl on the other post... Guess we're next door neighbors since I live in Missouri.
angehaley- I messed up the other morning to while posting. I tried to refresh the page and lost everything. I was so discouraged and mad!!! So I know how you're feeling. Those new scales can drive you crazy till you get all lined out with them. I believe I had to take a weight gain when I got my new scale to.
Rosalie-Way to go gal on the weight.... You're always busy..... busy.....
Debilli- Hope you're having a good day..
tysgrammy- Don't get discouraged remember you had a big loss last week and your body needs to adjust. Get back to eating right and try to pop on a little more often for some encouragement...

Hey chicks
I was up a pound today - I'm about to start my period- woohoo! So, I may have some water retention or something. I'm still bringing home tons of work - hope it ends soon! Bourbon Street is calling my name! Can you hear it? Missy, Missy, Missy......I know I won't do tooooo bad - at least I hope not anyway! Y'all can look for me on TV - its decadence weekend where all the gays dress up and stuff. I'll be the one NOT in DRAG or having sex on the street! I'll be the one in the window in the background watching the sights from afar with a 3 for 1 white russian in my hand!! HAHA! Ok - back to work!

Quick post here.
I have to leave to go to small group in a few minutes. I made dinner for the group tonight. WW lasagna, roughly using Country's recipe. It sure looks good! I made another pan to put in the freezer for a meal later on, or to give to someone if needed.
Took a dip in the pool, and it sure felt good. My son in law is here, swimming. His wife is out looking for a bathing suit. They are leaving on vacation to Florida to visit his grandparents near Tampa tomorrow.
My co-worker is doing great! She came into the store today to grocery shop and kept coming over to the bakery to ask me if different products were ok! She is going to get on here, too, she promised. Another co-worker got some very bad news today. Her husband called to tell her a friend had been killed in an accident. I felt so bad for her, I started crying too! It made me think of all the pain my daughter and her friends went through when her friend was killed a few years ago. I just hate for anyone to have to experience that.
I talked to my manager today. There will probably not be a repeat of his scheduling me on a Thursday. I did not ask for him to let me off this coming Thursday, though. I am going to work the five days, and enjoy the money.
PANCHO: What kind of credentials did that Nutrition Counselor have? I am looking into going to school for that. There are several online courses of study I could do, one is $5k, and another is $1K. I am hoping my doctor can give me some advice on what route to take to get trained. It just has always been something I wanted to do.
FRUIT: 3 for 1 White Russians? Oh, dear! Don't get loaded! It sure won't help the weight! Also, if you are taking Zoloft, check and make sure drinking won't interact with it. My daughter takes a gaba inhibitor, and the doctor told her under no circumstances should she drink while on it.
ANGE: I hate when I lose stuff like that! I guess you get to the point where it doesn't make you mad anymore. The second time I had a hard drive crash, I just kind of got to the point of 'so what?' :)
Ok, I gotta go get packed up to go! Later!

Good afternoon; nothing planned for dinner, so will probably have a pot pie and salad.
Got all my returns done when DD was in school, and also splurged and ate a soft pretzel with nacho cheese at the mall (it's o.k. to do that when it is TOM, right?) Excuses, excuses....well, I enjoyed it and will get right back on plan now.
heartmom: Congrats on the loss. That fat can sure add up in foods that we don't even think about. I finally found some lowfat cheesesticks at Wal-Mart, and hope I like them; it's nice to have something like that to snack on. Photos did not turn out blurry at all on my end!
tysgrammy: Hang in there; you had an awesome first week loss. You won't be able to expect huge losses like that every week. As heart said, the more gradual, the more permanent it seems. It may take a little longer initially, but you won't gain it all back because you are changing the way you are eating for a lifetime. If you've had a few indescretions, put it behind you and move on!! Take some legal food with you when you have classes, and maybe that will help keep you on plan.
fruit: Have fun "window watching."
Monet: The lasagne will be a big hit; it is delicious. It is such a large amount too. We ate it two nights in a row, and I froze some of it. I will definately be making it again! So sorry to hear of your co-workers loss :( It's so tough to lose someone close to you. I was reading a book that told me what credentials to look for in a nutritionist, and he had them, but I can't tell you what they are. I will pull his card out of the truck, and the next time I post, I will put all the info/initials on for you since you will probably understand them if it is something you've looked into. I would have personally liked to have sat down with a woman, being a woman. I think you would do well doing something like that.
Well better go run! I'll check in tomorrow a.m. I cannot believe I have posted 100 times; I must have a lot to say (ha).

Hi All
I'm still super busy and only have a minute to post. I've kept up with everyone and am thinking about you. I did want to respond to Bashful...
BASHFUL...I was on SB before and lost 90lbs. I lost about 1 pound per week. This time because I just couldn't wait that long and I was so mad at myself for gaining so much back, I am combining Weight Watchers with SB. I am losing 2lbs per week. I use Weight Watchers to control my portions and SB to eat healthy. Just be forewarned...I am always hungry on Weight Watchers. That is because unlike when I was on SB I am really limiting how much I eat portion wise. The other comment I wanted to make is that I follow SB but use the advice that what you eat is about making the best choice not just the perfect SB foods choice. Because of my job, alot of the time food is put in front of me and I have to eat what is there. So I may not eat SB legal but I will eat as close as possible to SB legal. Good luck on making the best decision for you. Whatever way of eating you decide to go with, remember we can still be friends and support you! Stay in touch.
Well have to run...see ya'll soon.

Back on the computer again! I didn't know whether I should bring it up on this board or not- being a religion topic and all. I definetly don't want to start a debate BUT- I'm a little peeved about them taking the 10 commandments statue down in Alabama- all because some Atheist lawyers said it violated their rights. And then seeing what happened with the Chicago shooting today. People are getting worse by the minute. Believe me, I'm not a religious fanatic. I don't even claim a specific religion. I believe in God and know that in life we should live "righteously" (sp?). I don't go to church but do have a strong faith in God and know that he has a purpose and plan for all of us. My faith was deepend when Boogie was born and I believe that the power of prayer is why he's here today. Forgive me for rattling on and I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here- guess I'm just tired of how things are going in the world...

Oh, I just took a test on beliefnet to find out your faith/religion- it said mine was 100% Orthodox Judaism--I'm not even Jewish, lol. Hmmm, gonna check a little into it..

Evening All:wave:
Haven't been able to get on the computer, kids have been hogging it - school starts, and you know how that goes!
Got in my 4.5 miles today:D
MICHAEL'S birthday was today - ordered a cake from Publix and took it to his school for his friends at lunch-they loved it.
Did want to take a moment to welcome BOOM to the board! http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign1.jpg Many of the gals have converted over from Atkins and I'm sure they'll be happy to help answer any questions you may have. As someone mentioned, I too always recommend the following site to give a good overview of SB : http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/sugarbusters Any other questions you have-just ask!!!
Gotta run - will have time tomorrow morning to catch up with all the posts!!

Thank you all (Again) for your wonderful warm words and wishes. I am going to start WW, but include all that I have learned from doing SB (really limited starchy carbs and white stuff). And I especially thank those of you who have encouraged me to keep coming to the SB boards for support. I think you are a really great group of people (I've been to other boards where the members are not as welcoming or as cohesive) and even though I will have very little free time come next week, it is wonderful to know that I am still welcome here. I am hoping that WW will put more structure on my eating than I am able to do on my own (even with the tracking I've been doing thanks to Debbie). Hopefully, I can combine these two ways of eating to make a way that really works for me and is healthy. I hope that by combining them I will be more successful in my weight loss, but also not feel overwhelmed when I can't find SB legal food as long as what I eat is the best choice I can make and stays within my points.
Beachfan: Thank you for the warning about being hungry on WW, I will try to be mindful of that. When I've done WW in the past I was only hungry when I had to go from one point range to a lower point range. What always got in my way before was planning. My hubby, who does most of the cooking and is really supportive of me no matter what I do, says he'll help me do the meal planning in advance so that it is not so overwhelming during the week. Hopefully that will help. WHen I've stayed on plan with WW I've lost so hopefully combing with SB will make it that much better.
Thanks again everyone for all your support.

Evening everyone!
The small group was thrilled with the lasagna. Of course, the majority of them are singles, and a home cooked meal tastes great to them, unless it is bonafide shoeleather! :D
I ate two smallish pieces of it, and two pieces of bread, and salad. Its been a coons age since I had lasagna, so it tasted pretty good!
HEART: I know what you mean about the state of the world. Seems we have lost a lot of character, and morals through the years. I can't help but wonder why those who clamour for removing God from every aspect of our society can't see the connection....
Time to hit the hay! Night everyone! Sweet dreams!

I can't thank everyone enough for the support I receive from this board. I just got home from class and wanted to grab something to eat. I decided to check the board first. I am so glad I did.
Heartmom--Thanks for the encouragement. I needed to know that gaining that one pound back wasn't the end of my dream to hopefully one day be back to a healthy weight. After reading your wonderful words of support I have renewed hopes of losing all this excess weight, maybe not as fast as I would like, but eventually I will step on that scale and be near or at my goal weight.
Toni48 and Pancho---I also want to thank both of you for taking the time to encourage me not to give up. You will never know how much I needed this support tonight.
To everyone on this board, Thanks for always being here!!!!!

TYS: You don't want to give up! Just keep telling yourself, the slower you lose, the better it stays off. Even if you don't lose a pound, this is still a healthier way to eat, and you will feel better and be healthier, even if you don't lose anything! (I tell myself that all the time, since I am insulin resistant, and hypothyroid, and it takes me forever to lose anything. I started on Atkins five years ago, and have been doing SB for almost two years, and my total loss is only about 45 pounds.) I am so glad you joined us. We need you as much as you need us! :)

Good Thursday Morning:wave:
Sitting here, all ready to go out for my walk but unfortunately, the threat of rain:rain: is too big and I hear it thundering out there. It was sprinkling here and there on my way home from dropping off the kids and now I'm hearing the sounds of drums outside, I want to go but sure don't need a repeat of Tuesdays drenching!:nono:
I forgot to mention the other day that ELI brought me some roses and a card for our anniversary - not on the right day, and he sure didn't know what day it was. Was disappointed as I thought with 10 years not only would he of remembered, but at least planned something on some day. MEN!
Also, went back the other day to the eyeglass place and another person helped me instead of the old man that had initially. He couldn't believe how off the glasses were either! Anyhow, I had to pick out a different frame - not an easy feat for me to do - so the perscription would fit in the lens correctly. Should be ready next week.
My parents left for NC today and won't be home til the end of Oct. I'm hoping they can meet up with YELLOWROSE and DH RAY at some time - they don't live far apart, about 45 minutes I'd say.
Then, got some other news yesterday - my GF went and bought a house and didn't tell anyone til after he closesd! AND, to top it all off, it's far!!! He's moving north, about 3 hours away. Geez, talk about making a big turnaround and keeping a tight lip. I don't understand his reasoning for not telling others other than people saying to stay close. He'll be 87 in Nov - who'd want to buy a house, a 3 bedroom nonetheless, at that age, not to mention, poor health? He claims he can't afford to live here anymore between the taxes and car insurance. We figured, other than Thanksgiving we'll never see him, if even then. That's truly a bummer! None of us is happy about this decision he made, but it was his to make and not ours.
Hmmm, what else - oh yeah, I made a new side dish yesterday AND it was edible AND it was liked by everyone!:spin: It's a spinach ricotta "quiche". I adjusted a few things from the recipe to make it a tad less fattening. It was really good and I even got a thumbs up from MICHAEL. One way to get the veggies in. There's very little left:D
Thanks to all of you who put your input about that post. I know just what kind of board we have and it irks me for people who post things they know nothing about, and untrue at that:mad:
Eating has been 100% OP I'm proud to say:D
MELF called me the other night - lots going on between DAXTON, her GS, her daughter JODI who's preg. and work, not to mention they are going to see her other DD in Texas this weekend, so she may not get on the board, but wanted me to send you her regards:)
I've gotten so far behind with posts that it will take me forever to catch up, so I hope you all don't mind that I start anew. If anyone posted something of great importance that I should be aware of, please, do let me know. I'll be able to keep abreast of things through this weekend. It was hard for me to get on between both the kids and homework, esp. MICHAEL who was still up after 3am today - I don't know HOW this kid stays awake and then get up - he'll def. make a good Dr. as far as getting up for rounds and having to stay up all hours!
Okay, I'm going outside to assess the sky - I hear the thunder still but if it looks like it may be clearing, I'm gonna try to go out at some point, if it's not too late. I swear, I must be cursed, I say something, and boom, I hear it raining!!!:rain:

Happy Thursday,
Only 1 more day and then along weekend. Yippee!
Got our 3 mile walk in last nite. It started storming while I was fixing dinner. So afterwards it had really cooled down. So it wasn't too bad out there. Did get my wt training done while waiting for the rain to stop. So I am 3 for 3 so far this week. We don't walk on Friday's so I will try my best to get up and go before work tomorrow.
Nothing exciting going on with me so will get to posts:
Tysgrammy, You know why you were up and what you have to do to fix it. That is important. I truly believe coming to this board really helps stay OP. Try to pop in when yu can. 8 lbs is awesome for the first week and you just have to hang in there. This really does work. :bravo: for you going back to school in your 40's.
Toni, no, I hate cold weather. I don't care how hot it gets. Bet that perm looks great. Congrats on the 1 1/2 lbs. You are doing so great.
Missy, you are making me jealous with all that talk of Bourbon St. DId I tell yu we are coming to NO in Oct. We will have to meet if you can. What's the name of the place you can get legal pizza there. 3 for 1, wow! I remember those.
Monet, al lthis talk about lasagna is making me want it. Guess I will have to fix some and invite DD over. It's her favorite, and I know she's not making it. How sad about your friend's friend. Going into nutrition sounds so great. I wish my daughter would do that. I think it is so interesting. I read everything I can on the subject. Is that a new tag line or am I not very attentive? It is cute.
Pancho, you could have eaten a lot worse than the pretzel. Just jump right back op and you will be fine.
Heartmom, I do agree with you on the Ten Commandments. I believe when they took God out of the schools is when all our problems started. I had received an email that I thought was so great about a graduating class where the word God was forbidden to be used. At the commencement address people aluded to God but never came out and said His name. Finally the validictorian spoke and at the end he sneezed. The audiance all said "God Bless You" Whenthey reallized what had just happened, they all stood up and cheered. Very clever.
Deb, congrats on getting out there and walking still. Belated Birthday wishes to Michael. At least Eli didn't forget totally. I guess better late than never. Men never think of doing big things. I guess it's just their makeup. Is this the GF that the GM just died? Did he have these plans before she passed away or just since he passing? Man that is quite a big decision. Does anyone live close to where he is moving? I can't imagine someone that age doing that. He must be very independent.
Bashful, best of luck to you and come back here whenever you can.
Kim, Hoping this have slowed down for you. Come back soon.
Bob, have a great trip. Be careful driving.
Need to get prepared for a meeting. Hope to check back later.

i ALMOST FORGOT......
I read in Fitness magazine last night that even 1 alcohol drink inhibits wt loss for 24 hours.
Missy, be careful with those 3 white russion. That's 3 days of not losing!
Also, does anyone know how to print out the list of smiles. I did a print screen and pasted into word, but cannot get it to print.

Good morning, everyone. Just a quick note and then back to work.
Monet - I'm going to be one of the slow losers, I guess. Since 12/26/02, I've lost 17 lbs. I really don't mind that it's so slow (well, maybe I mind a little bit!). I'm hoping by losing it slowly that maybe I won't have as much baggy skin. At 54 yo and needing to lose 130 lbs, losing it quickly could really leave me sagging everywhere! Ironically, with all the weight I've gained, I managed to work up to a B cup in my bra. One good thing about that, though. When they sagged, they didn't go very far!!!!
Toni - I love to have someone work with my hair. What I've started doing is going to a beauty college to have mine done. It usually takes the stylist 45 - 60 min to do mine. They give a great shampoo and it takes longer for the cut. AND it's cheaper!! How far from the Arkansas border do you live? I've been to St. Louis but it's been years and years ago. So glad you got your scale fixed. I still chuckle when I think about you stepping on it and seeing 800 lbs! I probably would have fainted!
Gotta work. Have a great day everyone.

Good Thursday Morning:
Well, I do have to say that I don't understand my body. I ate that pretzel yesterday that I shouldn't have, and then I also ate a nsa Blue Bunny ice cream cone, a few ounces of 65% cocoa chocolate (TOM) and then pretty much normal the rest of the day and this morning - 124#. I thought I'd be up, but I am at my all-time low (I've hit it once or twice before). Go figure!
A few notes on the nutritionist now that I've had time to absorb the info. One of the recommendations was this green food called Perfect Food; it comes in powder or caplets. I really think I am going to get it. It is a capsule that you can take that is made of all natural plant ingredients. You take 5 a day (I think) and it is equivalent to 6-10 servings of green veggies. I may not take the 5 a day since I know I eat my green veggies, but it's good to have on the days I don't eat as many as I should. Also, unless you are eating constantly, I think it is difficult to get 5-6 servings of veggies/fruits a day. I also will consider the digestive enzyme; sounds like it has all positive benefits. The name he recommended is Wobenzyme; if you have time and it sounds interesting, just punch it in in your search engine, and read up on its many benefits. It can help with far more than digestion.
THIS IS ALSO IMPORTANT FOR ANY OF YOU WHO MISS MEALS (like my mom)!!!!! I'm sure most of you know this, but he confirmed it for me. It is very important to eat 6 mini meals a day or 3 meals with 3 snacks throughout the day (or more). When we miss a meal or go long periods of time without feeding our body, it goes into starvation mode. Let's say I know I am going out for big dinner, so I skip breakfast and have a small snack mid-day and then go to dinner and PIG OUT! My body is going to say, "she hasn't fed me all day, I am going to hang on to all of this and not burn any of it since I don't know when my next meal will be." Yes, our body's can talk (ha). Whereas, if you are always munching (on the right foods), your body knows it is going to eat again very soon, and won't hang on to that food. It will let you burn it vs hoarding it, since it can rely on you feeding it again soon. I was explaining this to my mom, and she said, "go figure...people used to starve themselves to lose weight, who would have thought that by eating you could lose weight." She told me that a few days ago, she woke up late and skipped breakfast. She was out at lunchtime and had no good choices so she skipped that too, and had a reasonable dinner (chicken, salad....no starches), and the next morning stepped on the scale and she was up 2 pounds. She had been losing/maintaining on the days she ate more.
I am going to donate some items to local charity when DD is in school and then buy some items to donate to a local scool for underprivileged/homeless children. I will then go to Costco right before I pick her up and pick up a few items we need there.
Anyway, enough rambling here!
heartmom: I can understand your frustration. We will soon have money that reads, "In Political Correctness We Trust."
bashful: Good luck with WW; I know that beach has done well with it. I did WW before I knew anything about SB, and although I lost a little weight, I was miserable. I made all the wrong choices, and my points were almost gone before dinner. I would choose 2 oreos (or something else) over the fruits/veggies. As long as I didn't go over my points, it didn't matter to me what the points were comprised of. And banking points...what's that? I never had any to bank. I also didn't like all the bland boring food. My husband hated the meals I made when I was on WW (ha). Now knowing what I do about SB, I think combining the two would be a great approach, but I also know I would always be hungry, like I was when I was on it before. I remember working out and not having any energy left. Please keep us up to date on your losses and how it is working for you. I think down the road, WW, Jenny Craig, etc...will be incorporating more low-carb, low-sugar recommendations into their plans, and it will be better for everyone!
tysgrammy: We are always better than any stinkin' snack!
Deb: Sorry to hear about your GF moving away. Is there anyone nearby to keep an eye on him? It sounds as if he is getting up there in age, and doesn't have the best health to be on his own. Good job staying OP.
Toni: Great job on the 1.5 pound loss!! What a great excuse to end a workout early, eh?;)
Jack: You are doing so well with exercise!!!
Monet: Alright - his card reads: Edward J. Gomillion...DD, CA, C.N.M., LMT. He has a website on his card you may be able to take a peek at. zangfuwellness@aol.com. One of the really neat things they do is a blood lipid profile. They prick your finger to get a little of you blood and put it under a microscope, you can then view your live blood on a monitor in their office to see if there are any "invaders" in there such as bacteria and stuff. He showed me a sample tape with the red blood cells staying still (as they do) and the white blood cells moving through. Also showed me some abnormalities in that particular blood profile. It was very interesting. I'd like to have that done one day.
Sorry if I missed anyone; I need to go wash this face and put some makeup on and get this mop styled.
Sorry for the novel, just had a lot to share today.
Take care!!!

Hey All:wave:
Stuck at home - thank goodness I didn't try and go out for my walk, it would of been a lot worse than Tuesday. The lightening was so bad I had to turn the computer off. My sister's SIL called me asking questions about SB and there was a bright flash of light in my bedroom with a crack of thunder immediately afterwards that actually made me jump!:yikes: I had to get off the phone, you could even hear it in the phone! It's just starting to finally let up know, so I thought it would be safe to come on line.
TONI, wonderful news to hear you're down another 1 1/2lbs :bravo: You're doing so well - keep up the great work!
JACKK, yes, it's the only Grandparent I have left living now. It seems that he had a piece of land that he was in the midst of selling up there while my GM was sick and he finally sold it. The realtor mentioned that she knew a man who wanted to sell his house but didn't want to list it and would sell it at a good price - seems he's a 4th cousin of Eastman from Eastman Kodak family, just a tidbit that didn't make much difference to me either way. Anyhow, I guess he sneaked up there, liked it and bought it, not telling anyone til it was over and done with. My Uncle, his youngest son lives in WPB, which is about an hour ride south from where my GF will be living, so no, no one in the general area. I just don't understand his reasoning behind it all and it seems I'm not the only one. I guess it's good that I'm not a drinker - I can inhibit my weight loss so many other ways, just imagine if I were!
LIBRA, my cousin started SB, sorta modified to fit her, not a true SB, but she's lost 20lbs since January, and like you, it's slow, but she's happy with how it's going because she said she doesn't feel like she's been on any diet. She needs to lose about 50-75lbs I think. You'd be so lucky not to have saggy skin-you should see me! I sag all over! From years of yo-yo dieting. :(
PANCHO, I've always told people that if mini-meals fit in to their lifestyles that's the way to go-and why not, then you'd never be hungry! If you are, you're probably not eating enough. Remember, one slip up once in a while won't kill you-it's when that one turns into two close together. If you like veggies you shouldn't have any trouble getting them in. 3 fruits and 2 veggies, even I can manage that a day. I feel you lose out on the fiber when taking pills, but if it's the only way to get the nutrients in you, better that than nothing, I guess:)
Okay, pot pie is going to be done soon. Will go eat and probably relax a bit before I have to go get the kids. With the way the weather is today, I'm not going too far from home.
Toodles

What a great site. I gotta hand it to ya'll, this is wonderful! I have read through some posts and have a question - I see that most posts are on the weekly board. Is there one thread for the board and everyone just replies to it and the next week a new thread is created and that's what everyone goes to? I have it about figured out.
The information is great. Oh my goodness, I'm excited I found ya'll. I am just starting Sugar Busters tomorrow (payday for me), in conjunction with biking (I have ridden my stationary bike for 5 minutes, one mile each night, for the last two nights) and will begin taking the weight loss drug Meridia. I weigh in at 300 lbs and on a 5'3/1" frame that's not healthy for me. Big family history of heart problems and blood pressure problems as well as Type II diabetes and I want to be healthy if I face those things - ya know? Also, I just want to eat better to feel better and lose this weight. My doctor does Sugar Busters and wants me to become a Sugar Busters disciple, LOL. So far I'm singing it's praises as I'm reading the book and I love the handy shopping guide they have out.
Starting Sugar Busters, what has been ya'll's biggest obstacle? I feel as much as I weigh I will never get it off, yet having read some of ya'll's posts I can see that so many of you are doing GREAT! I'm so proud of ya'll and the support you give each other is tremendous.
Any words of wisdom for a newbie?
Smooches,
Laurie - oh, I did the bio thing on the Bio Board to read more about me. :-)

Welcome, Laurie! I see you are from MS- what town? I live in Meridian and my name is also Laurie. Once you get all that sugar out of your system, you will notice a natural decrease in appetite, so you won't need diet pills. I know from experience- that's why I started SB to get away from all the fad diets and pills.
Not much going on today. Just took a bath and need to blow-dry my hair. It always ends up a frizzy mess when I do, but I need a haircut right now and if I don't, then it's flat. Suppossed to have a couple of friends over for supper tonight. So far though, they haven't called to confirm that they are coming. Oh, well- more for us,lol. I've got chicken breasts marinating in the fridge and will fix cabbage and peas/beans mixed. I was up 1/2 a pound this morning, but it's probably some fluid retention from the chili last night. As you see, not much to report for today...

Evening All:wave:
Just a quickie...
LAURIE http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Not sure if you saw my short welcome on the othe board you posted, but what the heck, WELCOME AGAIN!:D Glad you've decided to join us! Yes, you are correct, we basically post on the SB WEEKLY SUPPORT BOARD. A new board is started each and every Monday morning and they are all dated. We also post our exercises on our SB WEEKLY EXERCISE BOARD which that too gets a new board each week. Your Dr. is a smart cookie for suggesting SB - it's a healthy WOE that can be followed the rest of your life. Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions, the book can be a little misleading, confusing and contradictory at times, so if you find that to be so, it's not you. Ask questions - we're all more than happy to help answer them. If you can find MICHEL MONTIGNAC'S book EAT YOURSELF SLIM at the library (hard to find on line since it's OOP) get it, it will help you understand this WOE moreso. I can totally understand where you are coming from and where you want to go, I was once 284lbs yet I'm only 5' 1 1/2" tall. You will lose the weight, just make sure you are patient, it's one of the keys to your success:) Hmmm, my personal biggest obstacle hasn't been losing the weight but keeping it off once I'm there. It's a never ending struggle and will be so the rest of my life. This is truly a WOE as well as a learning experience, such is life, and I'm learning each and every day that this is not something I do, lose the weight, and then go back to old ways:nono: this is going to be something I do the rest of my life. I'm here for the long haul! Words of wisdom, stick with us, get a good support system (here and home) do it for yourself, not to please anyone else or to do it for a certain event, be patient, don't cheat, but if you do, get right back on the wagon, ask questions, journal, MAKE SURE YOU EAT ENOUGH!!!! If you aren't sure, just e-mail me and I'll be happy to send you some information that others have found helpful:) I'm sure I can think of more, but that's enough for now. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, I did try to e-mail you to tell you that I edited it and just took out your last name, not that we've ever had a problem, but JUST in case...the e-mail, are you sure it's correct, AOL said no one had that e-mail addy. Once again, WELCOME!!!!
HEART, come to Miami and THEN you can talk about frizz!! I found this IONIC BRUSH at a garage sale - that thing is marvelous! It tames the frizzes - it's so cool! Definitely worth the $1 I paid for it! It's from the Sharper Image. Wish I could find another one, one in the car, one for the house.
Well, I'm debating whether I want to try and get in an evening walk:chin: If I don't go in the next 10 minutes will just have to make it tomorrow morning-will let you know later.

Heading home to walk
It just stormed so maybe it will be cooler again tonite.
Libra, I just turned 50 and after I had lost about 50 lbs of my 100 I realized I needed to start doing something to tone this body. Let me tell you and I can't preach this enough to all the young girls out there, after 50 the skin doesn't go back. No matter how much exercise you do. The only solution is snip-snip. So lose the weight while you are young and have some elasticity in your skin. My advice to you is to get into wt training to tone as much as you can along the way. Hopefully you won't look like me. I need a face lift starting with my knees up! :yikes:
Pancho, our bodies are strange beings. That is why you can't worry too much about the daily fluctuations of the scale. I totally agree with yu on WW. I have done it many times, even got to goal twice. Even though I would make good choices (and some nto so good) I never changed my eating habits. Therefore, I would put the weight right back on. At least with SB, I think about what I am eating (even though it may not be good). That Perfect Food sounds strange. Maybe we could all just take a yellow pill, red pill, etc and we wouldn't have to eat food. :chin:
Deb, it just seems that your GF would be loney there not knowing anyone or anything. Especially with his poor health. Maybe he will change his mind. It could just be the grief over the loss of this wife making him do this.
Laurieann, Welcome to this great board. You will gets lots of support and help here. You are smart to get rid of that wt before you start having health problems. That’s what scared me into starting. Obstacles are different for all of us. Mine are salty things ( and alcohol) but others find chocolate a big one. Some people have troulbe with giving up potatoes. You sound like you are ready to jump into this with both feet. I wish you the best of luck.
Have a great evening.

IF YOU DID NOT get an e-mail from me today and your name is on the BIO BOARD, please let me know so I can add you in. I go by the BIO BOARD to get the addresses so if you aren't on there, or unless you've e-mailed me directly with your e-mail, I don't have you on my list. I'm trying to get it updated and have people's addresses without a clue of knowing who they belong to. If you did not reply to my e-mail previously then I didn't add you to the new listing, just have you still on the old, but that's not going to last and it will be deleted soon.
If you want to be on my e-mail list, but not on the BIO BOARD, or are on the BIO BOARD and didn't get an e-mail, please e-mail me with your REAL NAME & SCREEN NAME to DEBELLI@AOL.COM
THANKS!!!

Quick post again. I was off today...until about 9:15 when my daughter called me and begged me to come in. One of the decorators had called in sick and they were swamped. I went in and made 1/4 sheet cakes all day. I think I decorated about 25 of them, but I swear people were buying them faster than I could get them done and into the case! It was wild! At least when I left there was about 12 in the case. It took me all day too. Customers kept coming up and asking questions, and I had to wait on them first.
My daugher and her hubby left for their vacation to Florida. They are going to Crystal River for a week.
I feel like someone beat me with a baseball bat, and then stomped on me to boot. I already took a handful of Ibuprofen, but I don't feel much better. Tonight may be a night for dinner out. I am going to have to think how I can talk Tom into it! ;)
Its thundering something fierce here. The sun is shining, though. I wish it would rain, and storm. We need the rain!
Be back later. I guess its time for a nap!

shHowdy everyone.... Its getting closer and closer to that three day week-end. Our little town, pop. 520 gets packed with tourists. We have two rivers and theres allot of floating canoes and camping going on. After this week-end it will quiet down...
Jack-K- Great on your walking. You're going to get your week in.. And do great over the holiday. Oh please don't say snip snip.... Are you sure it doesn't go back to tight and toned, LOL.....
Libra- We're about 80 miles from the Arkansas border. I go to see my sis about every other week and she lives about 60 miles from here and then its just a hop skip and jump away. I'm 55 and lose weight slow too...
Pancho- What a great post. I really enjoyed reading it. I can't get all those vegetables in so I'm going to look for that stuff called Perfect Food. Do you think I can find it at the health food store? I hadn't eaten much today and ran and got me something SB legal today. Thanks again for the great tips.
Debilli- Sorry you didn't get your walk in. Sounds like you had a heck of a storm. I think you're getting Missour's rain and I want it back!!!
Laurieann-A great big welcome to SB.... We're so glad you're here. And you'll love it. This is the best bunch of ladies and they're just full of words of wisdom and support!!! I just started back after being gone and gaining back allot of what I lost. SB is the best life style eating I've ever found. And have I ever tried them all!!! Don't look at the numbers, just take each day, each hour at a time. The first week or two is usually the hardest or it is to me cause my body is getting rid of the cravings... But then you adjust and it becomes a way of life. So hop on with us and lets lose some weight....
heartmom- Marinaded chicken sounds mmm mmm good. If your friends don't come you have lunch for next week. I'll bet that was the chili making you retain fluid.

TONI: Girl...I have more beads than you can even imagine. I ride in Mardi Gras - you should see the upstairs of my house - FULL of beads - any kind you want!
JACK-K: What are the dates of your visit? If there isn't an LSU game - we can definitely meet up! That would be a blast! As for legal pizza????? I have no clue - when I go to New Orleans..."legal" isn't on my mind - sorry! :)
Off to pack for the weekend...see y'all Sunday!

Hello all:
I've had a busy day, but got a lot accomplished.
laurie: WELCOME TO OUR WORLD!! You will do great, and will find a load of information and support here. We all pretty much meet up over here, that way it saves us time skimming trhough everywhere else. I didn't really encounter too many obstacles. I did Atkins first for two months, so SB was a very welcome change to me and allowed me a lot of freedom that didn't leave me feeling deprived at all. We are glad to have you here, and hope to hear from you often.
Deb: The Perfect food is supposed to have fiber in it as well. I'm not going to replace my greens with it, just supplement from time to time. I had a large caesar salad for lunch and will probably have green beans & salad for dinner. I also had some grapes & cantaloupe, so today would be a day I wouldn't take any. Besides, you can't get too many greens in, right? Glad you didn't take your walk; you made the right call today. Maybe it will be dry tomorrow a.m. and you can walk then. We'll give you an A for effort though.
Jack: I like food too much to give it up. BUT there are days that I know I don't get enough veggies in (especially when traveling) and it would be nice to keep my body supplied with those greens during those times/days.
Toni: Yes, you can find it at certain health food store; I'd call around. I, of course, ordered mine online; it's so much easier than dragging kids out for one more errand. You can read up on it at http://risingstarlc.com/perfect.htm. That gives the basic info. you'd need.
A mom in my MOMS Club was selling a large Little Tikes kitchen for $20. It is in excellent condition, so I bought it as a joint gift for the girls for Christmas; I just have to find a place to hide it now (it's 42" tall in the tallest section and 40" wide). She is going to throw in some dishes as well. I will get some pretend food and a shopping cart, and they will love it! What a bargain for $20.
Hmmmmm.....that is probably all for now. I hope you all have a great Thursday evening and I will check in in the a.m.
See ya!

TGIF!
Wow not many posts to catch up with today.
Got my walk in last night and my wt training. But didn't get to walk this morning. DH went in 1/2 hour later so he wanted some breakfast. So today will be my day off. Don't know if I willget in any walking this weekend. THey are calling for rain today thru Monday. :rain: Yuk!
No big plans for the long weekend. Happy hour tonight, but I have already decided I am drinking ice tea. Iam determined to get through this weekend, totally legal. Of course the big game UK-UL is Sunday night. Haven't heard if anyone is having a get together, but I'm sure someone will. I will plan some legal snacks for it though.
Laurieann, If you have a health food store near you, they should have some ww crackers that are legal.
Monet, sounds like you worked your butt off. Get some rest. Sweet of you to go in and help out.
Toni, sorry to burst your bubble, but snip-snip is the only solution unless your are 35.
Fruit, I have a whole bag full of beads too. I'm sure you have lots more. This morning I fixed DH some juice and the cup was one from Mardi Gras. Made me think of you. We will be arriving Oct 9th thru the 15th. Hope we can work something out.
Pancho, wow, what a bargain. My girls always loved kitchen stuff and the play food. I'm sure yours will too.
Got to run, we have 2 people to interview today. Hope to be back later.

Good Friday Morning Everyone!
Was a good morning, was able to get in my 4.5 miles early because ELI had to be at work the same time I go to drop the kids off at school so he took them and I was able to get out of the house earlier. On another good note, I did get out last night, very unsual for me, and got in 3.5 miles. I was tired and didn't feel like going 4.5, esp when I knew in a matter of 12 hours I'd be doing it again-better than nothing!!;)
Thought I'd post my menu from yesterday. I like doing it once in a while - no one tell me about my lack of veggies, trust me, I know-I had good intentions on fixing something but it never panned out.
6.8oz raspberries
1/2 c cottage cheese
sf jello cup
6.5oz cactus pears
Shelton's Pot Pie
1 low-carb waffle
2.5oz fresh figs
1 Tbl PB flour
1 sl sf bread
1 c xtra calcium ff milk
1 tsp carob
sf jello cup
1oz 75% lf cheese
2oz pastrami
3oz chicken breast
33gr lfsf bacon
1 sl sf bread
1oz 75% lf cheese
1 small plum tomato
1 piece lettuce
I had approx 1350 calories, right on the mark with my fat, should be 45, I consider the 47 close enough, tad below on the carbs, a little high on the protein and a whopping 32.5 grams of fiber. Just imagine if I had eaten some decent veggies - no dookie house problems here! I filled all the "suggested recommended daily servings" I should have, with exception to the 2 veggies, though I went a tad over the 3 servings of fruit I should have - I'm happy:D
Heard from SERENE, she wanted to tell everyone she sends her hellos and that she and TRANQUIL have been REALLY busy at work, that she has a lot of crap going on at home between the kids and her divorce proceedings, but hopes to be back on the board soon. TRANQUIL is leaving for a 3 day trip to Santo Domingo this weekend, so hope to hear from her as well soon.
Want to get in some replies before the day wears on...
JACKK, first, before I forget to tell you AGAIN, I found those low-carb Wheatstone waffles. I bought the blueberry and the cinammon ones. They were on sale - otherwise I wouldn't of splurged. Questioning if they are truly legal as far as ingredients go, but with in looking at the nutritional info and the ingredients as a whole, they aren't bad. I would eat only 1 instead of the suggested 2 per serving. Did try the blueberry and I liked it a lot, light and fluffy and doesn't need a thing on it. Got me to thinking that maybe, ONE DAY, I'd try to make my own waffles - I sure have enough recipes for that!!! As for my GF, once his mind is made up, it's a done deal, and besides, he's already closed on the house. Now I understand he's having an estate sale next week of all the collectibles in the house. Seems he's just moving full steam ahead! Sounds like you are doing great with your exercise AND eating this week. I'm sure you'll do great during happy hour and this weekend-I'm right beside you!:)
MONET, sounds like you've really been busy at work. Oye, you'd appreciate my dedication to Publix bakery after the other day. I went on my way home to see what types of cakes they had for MICHAEL, saw the picture ones and went home, came back with a pic of him, said it was too big, so I went home again, came back with a smaller one, guy cut it too small, went home. Came in next morning and told the guy that we weren't doing a pic (MICHAEL didn't want to waste any more ink or photo paper) and I just picked out a different design. Went back later that morning to pick up the cake. After the first time, each time I went back I asked the guy "did you miss me?" I think it will be an inside joke from here out. What I hate that they've done down here is stopped sending the flyers home in the mail as they use to, now, only if you go to pick one up at the store or by the newspaper do you get one:mad: Wish I could send you some rain - I've had enough!:rain:
LAURIE, I have a recipe for homemade Triscuits - have never made them though, but YOU may want to try your hand at it. See if you can find BARBARA'S WW CRACKERS in your local HFS, they are VERY good. There are other crackers out there as well that are SB LEGAL - just have to see what's available in your area.
TONI, if I could, I would send your rain back, but I've promised ours to MONET;) Sounds like a fun weekend in your town-I remember you mentioning it last year.
FRUIT, think of me, think of us, think of how good you're doing and you just MIGHT think of LEGAL when you go in to NO;) That would be GREAT if you and JACKK could meet up, then maybe I'd FINALLY see a picture of her (and you of course).
PANCHO, thanks for the "A" for effort, I think I actually deserved it between yesterday and today. I really have no room to talk about veggies, I hate making them, not so much as eating them, just hate to cook them - heck, I hate to cook anything! I'm trying to change that and find new interesting ways to cooks some favorites though - it will take me some time, so no "A" in effort in that dept just yet;)
I'm caught up so I'm going to get going and find some FRIDAY FUNNIES to post for today.
Will check in a bit later!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!!

CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?
A man left work one Friday afternoon. But instead
of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend,
hunting with the boys and spending his entire paycheck.
When he finally appeared at home Sunday night, he
was confronted by his very angry wife and was
barraged for nearly 2 hours with a tirade about his
actions.
Finally his wife stopped the nagging and simply
said to him, "How would you like it if you didn't
see me for 2 or 3 days?"
To which he replied, 'That would be fine with me."
Well, Monday went by and he didn't see his wife.
Tuesday and Wednesday came and went and he
didn't see her. On Thursday, the swelling went
down just enough where he could see her a little
out of the corner of his left eye.

A Few Quickies !
Two friends were discussing popular family trends on sex, marriage, and values. Stu said, "I didn't sleep with my wife before we got married, did you?"
Leroy replied, "I'm not sure, What was her maiden name?"

A little boy went up to his father and asked: "Dad, where did all of my intelligence come from?
The father replied: "Well, son, you must have gotten it from your mother, 'cause I still have mine."

"Mr. Clark, I have reviewed this case very carefully,"the divorce court judge said, "and I've decided to give your wife $775 a week."
"That's very fair, your honor," the husband said. "And every now and then I'll try to send her a few bucks myself."
*********************
A businessman entered a tavern, sat down at the bar, and ordered a double scotch on the rocks. After he finished the drink, he peeked inside his shirt pocket, then he ordered another double scotch. After he finished that one, he again peeked inside his shirt pocket and ordered another double scotch.
Finally, the bartender said, "Look, buddy, I'll bring you drinks all night long. But you gotta tell me why you look inside your shirt pocket before you order another."
The customer replied, "I'm looking at a photo of my wife. When she starts to look good, then I know it's time to go home."
*********************
A doctor examined a woman, took the husband aside, and said, "I don't like the looks of your wife at all."
"Me either doc." said the husband.
"But she's a great cook and really good with the kids."

Hi all!
I'm off today so I get a 4 day weekend. I'm doing ok...out of my blue funk and trying to have a good weekend. We'll go to the highschool football game tonight which will be fun. Hubby and son are now sick. Must be a virus going around. Daughter and I have a little sinus problems but for the most part we are not getting the virus.
Kids are struggling to get back into the school routine. High School is tough and balancing all of the work and being social creatures is tougher!
I'm staying on track. Just don't have the patience like I use to. Want all of the weight off NOW. I know that's not possible. But I just am so mad that I lost all of that weight and put it back on. I was 168 this morning which should make me feel better but I use to be 138! So I'm basically still only 1/2 my way to where I should be!
Deb...you're doing great on the walking. I don't even have the same patience for that. I've been trying to get in 40-50 minutes of walking a day. Last night I went to the track and instead walked and ran so I could get it over with. I went 3 miles but gosh...I'm not sure why I'm so impatient! Plus I it was so hot and humid...it was not the smart thing to do.
Jack-k...I know what you mean about the skin. I was at the gyno the other day and she said...when we do that hysterectomy...you'll need a tummy tuck! I knew that but boy lying on my back hearing that from her was a little unnerving!
Laurie WELCOME...you can do this and it will be the best thing you have ever done for yourself!
Monet...I call that dedication to go in and help like you did. Hope your manager appreciated it!
Fruit...take care on Bourbon street. It should be wild. Did you ever find out if you can have alcohol and the zoloft...I would hate for that to mess you up. I'm glad you were able to get something to help you. I periodically go through what I call blue funks...my family calls it something worst. There is nothing worse than feeling like you are in a deep hole and just wishing to stay there. Take care. You've been doing great.
Pancho...one of our favorite Christmases was the year we gave my daughter the little tykes kitchen. She had many many years of fun with it. Just watch out...my son actually put water in it to wash the dishes...and my daughter tried to cook with my four when I wasn't looking...it was a flour mess!
Toni...we had such a storm the other day that I honestly thought it was a tornado...If I could, I would send you our rain!

Good Friday morning:
Well, I woke up to a pleasant surprise (123.5 on the scale). It was actually 123.0 when I first got on this morning, but once I got the kids fed and drank some water myself, I was up to 123.5. The only reason I even got back on was because I took my camera in to take a picture of it to send to my mom and sis. Pretty corny, but fun! They get occasional pictures of my toes on a scale with a number on it; for all they know, they aren't even my toes (ha).
My DH & DD have a three day weekend, so I probably won't be on the computer too much over the weekend, unless I can sneak in at some point. I am going to try to get to the gym today when DD is in school, as long as youngest DD co-operates. I will then go again tomorrow a.m., and Monday a.m. (since hubby off work). My hubby and I did our abdominal tape on Wed. night and will do it again tonight and once over the weekend.
Jack: Good luck at Happy hour and for the game Sunday. You'll do fine as long as you plan for it, and it sounds as if you are good at that!
Deb: Way to knock that walk out early in the day; it sure helps get your day off on the right track. I would go to the gym every morning if I could. I would walk early before hubby goes to work, but it's dark and we have a lot of wildlife out here, so I don't chance it. We live in a rural area outside of town. Too many coyotes for my liking. Good eating!! Thanks for the FF; I haven't seen them before.
Angehaley: I feel your frustration. I am pretty wordy, as you may have figured out by now, and I have lost a few posts too. It's a bummer. How did you like the Pot Pie? I like them better than any of the regular ones I've had before. They sure fill me up too. I usually have one and a large salad, and it makes for a great dinner on nights I don't want to cook. My hubby likes them too, but I try to hide them in the freezer so he doesn't eat my stash (ha).
beach: Hope you and DD stay well. Have fun at the game. I am going to call my old high school and see when their homecoming game is; it would be fun to take the girls. I've been out of school now for 17 years, and have only been to 4-5 homecoming games. Be patient with yourself. It took a while to put the weight back on, and it will take longer to take it off. Just bottle up these feelings and your frustration and save it for when you get back to where you are happy, and then make sure you never gain it again. Anytime you feel the urge to splurge, open that little bottle to remind you of how lousy you felt.
Anyone have much experience with Stevia? I'd like to get away from my occasional Splenda snack, but think Stevia powder and liquid is extremely bitter. I've tried it in a few recipes and had to throw it all out.
Also, can you supplement Agave in ANY recipe that calls for Sugar, and are there any adjustments to amounts? The little cheesecakes I make call for 1/4 cup of Splenda granular. I'm wondering if I could substitute 1/4 Agave. Would that be too sweet; would they set up like cheesecake, or be too soggy. This is probably a Deb question, eh?
I'm going to make Salmon, shrimp, rice pilaf (for daughter & hubby), and probably some steamed broccoli for dinner. Believe it or not, that is my DD's favorite meal. Can you imagine a 5-year old who would pick that meal over just about any other??
Well, I will check in when we get home from school/gym before our long weekend gets underway.
Baby just got hurt...gotta go.

Me again:wave:
Thought I'd take a break and come say hello - board is sure quiet today!
ANGE, glad to hear you found the pot pies, now you can join the crowd when we talk about them and know what we are saying on how delectable they are. You shoud invest in a JET STREAM OVEN, it's the bomb and I wouldn't be without one and ALWAYS have one in reserves for when mine breaks down. I use it all the time and best of all, it only takes 28-30 minutes to cook a pot pie:D Thought the TRISCUIT RECIPE was on the board long ago but I guess I was mistakenand confused, I thought it was a tricuit recipe, but it's actually "WHEAT THINS", sorry 'bout that - but just in case you want the WT recipe, here you go:
WHEAT THINS
1 C WW Flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 Tbsp butter, softened
1/8 teas. baking powder
Put all ingredients in a bowl and mix with fingers. Add enough cold water to get it to stick together. Knead until it has a consistency of an ear lobe. Roll thin and cut into squares. Prick each with a fork. Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 350 until brown and crisp - approx 8-10 minutes. Cool on cake rack.
I'll search, I'm sure somewhere I MUST a recipe for triscuits, or I can find one:) As for getting close to my numbers, doesn't always happen, but sure makes me more aware when I journal. I think knowing the different food groups and the servings of each is helping as well. Glad you liked the pot pie!
BEACH, glad to hear you get 4 days off from work-I know you deserve it. Hope you and DD don't get sick and hope DH and DD get well soon. I know the feeling about not being as patient having to get this weigh off again, maybe we'll learn this time around? It's been hard for me to get back in to walking after being MIA all summer on the streets, and my jogging days seem to be over, just trying to jog across the street before the light turned was hard yesterday:shrug: We both got there before, we'll get there again - together:)
I'm going to get ready and try to get to yoga today. Gosh, I hope they haven't changed anything, I haven't heard a thing from my yoga teacher in over a week, she probably thought I went AWOL!\
Will check in later - at least I know I'll have computer time as the kids' father is taking them out for dinner and I'll have the house to myself:spin:

Found this article as I was searching the web:
Whole wheat is sometimes only half the story
ABCNews.com

Always be sure to read the labels to assure that you're getting truly whole grain products.

Think you're getting whole grains out of the turkey on wheat sandwich you had for lunch? Think again.
Doctors and nutrition experts say you should still load up on whole grain foods, but warn that many items that appear to be chock full of whole grains may not be, if you read the fine print on the food labels.
Whole grain foods tend to be high in fiber, which can reduce blood cholesterol levels and cut down on the production of substances in the body that appear to act as carcinogens and cause cancer, Good Morning America's foods contributor Sara Moulton said. Whole grain also helps keep the digestive system regular, warding off gastrointestinal tract troubles.
The USDA recommends eating a minimum of three servings of whole wheat each day, but a University of Minnesota study that appeared in the July issue of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association found that Americans average a paltry one serving of whole grain foods per day. So how do we get enough?
"You've got to read the labels, not just the packaging," Moulton said. "It's confusing because you see wheat or whole wheat in the title on the packaging of the food product and you assume it has whole grains."
But it may not. The key is making sure that the word "whole" is the first ingredient in the food item. Food label ingredients are listed in descending order by weight. Look for "whole-wheat flour," "whole wheat," "whole grain wheat," "whole oat flour," "whole grain oats," or "100 percent wheat flour" as the first ingredient.
Confusing Labels
On a package of Arnold's Honey Wheat Berry bread, whole wheat is the fourth ingredient listed for the bread, which means it has very little whole wheat in it, and it is not a whole grain food. But Arnold's Whole Wheat bread has whole wheat flour as the first ingredient, meaning it is a whole grain food, because it is the dominant ingredient in the product.
There are other products that appear to be made of whole grain, even though they aren't.
For example, in Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles, whole wheat is the third ingredient listed. In Wheatsworth's Stone Ground Wheat Crackers, whole wheat is the fourth ingredient. And beware of tags like "multi-grain," "seven-grain" and "nutri-grain," because without whole grain as the top ingredient, they don't cut it as whole grain foods, Moulton said.
Even though the labels are tricky, the companies are in the clear in terms of the claims they make. If the product makes a health claim on the front of the package, as many do now for heart disease or cancer prevention, it need only be 51 percent whole grain by weight.
"As long as the package doesn't say '100 percent whole grain' or '100 percent whole wheat' in the title, they are not making any false claims," Moulton said. "They can just be confusing for the consumer. And it's not bad for you but if you're looking for whole grain you've got to know what to look for."
Getting Three a Day
It's easy to get three servings of whole grain a day, in breakfast, lunch or snacks. Here are Moulton's tips:
Bread: Look for "whole" as the first ingredient, or "100 percent whole grain" in the title. If you do not like crusty bread, choose soft whole grain bread like Wonder. The crusty texture is because of the way it is baked, and is not because of the grain used.
Cereals: Cereal is also an excellent way to get whole grains into your diet. But be careful?some aren't as good as others. For example, Post Raisin Bran is a whole grain food, with whole grain as its first ingredient, but Kellogg's Raisin Bran contains no whole grains, though it does contain vitamins, minerals and bran. Other whole grain cereals include: Cheerios, Kellogg's Mini-Wheats, Quaker Toasted Oatmeal Squares and General Mills Wheat Chex. Oatmeal is another whole grain cereal, though the other hot cereals may not be.
Crackers: Triscuits is one brand that has whole wheat as its first ingredient.
Soups and Bars: Barley soups, Health Valley Breakfast Bars, and Power Bar Harvest Whole Grain Energy Bar are good sources of whole grain.
Snacks: Air-popped popcorn or microwave popcorn are made from whole grain (of corn).
Pasta and Rice: Substitute whole wheat pasta and brown rice for the other varieties.

Hello, got time for a quick post. Not alot going on right now- fixing to put myself in a bad mood in a few minutes- I have to figure the bills- what HAS to be paid, and what can wait and what will have to wait because we don't have it,etc. Boogie just came in here(the bedroom) toting a bowl of leftover beans he got outta the fridge, He said " Me want tis, puhleeze." How cute, so I got up and reheated them and now he's happily munching away. Oh, our friends did show up last night- neither one of them liked cabbage- oh well, I made some cornbread for them. My daughter is ate up with a MS accent- she says "conebread" instead of cornbread. I've been correcting her when she says winda instead of window, etc. Today I'm down to 182. So that 1/2 pound gain yesterday was fluid, and I lost another 1/2 pound with it. Cool. I would like to keep on losing instead of reaching another standstill where I don't loose nothing for weeks at a time.
LAURIE- Yes, I know where Richland is. We go to Jackson(the University) for my son's pediatric cardiology appointments.
Deb- I'll have to check on the price of that Ionic brush. Right now, not much is going to help other than a haircut. I keep putting it off.

Hi all,
I'm alive. My computer has been down for 3-4 days. Seems like a year. I had to pay a geek to come and reinstall everything. What a job. The only think I ended up losing was all the data in my address book. Ugh.
I've been so busy--up to my eyeballs in work. The french class is great, but it sure adds a lot of requirements to my days.
Gotta go. Have a ton of stuff to do today.

Quick check in..
I am going to take my son to my doctor this afternoon. He sounds like he has a nasty case of bronchitis. All this running to the doctor makes me wish I had gone to med school! I am so fascinated with disease...I just never wanted to deal with the biology and chemistry classes!
I just got back from running errands. I stopped at the HFS and stocked up on Shelton pot pies. I love those things! I found a few interesting products in the frozen foods, but did not buy any. They had chicken nuggets, breaded with whole wheat. There was some line about batter though, that listed cornmeal. That made me a bit leary about trying them. The same brand had spinach and feta rolls, pizza rollls, and several other items that were predominately whole wheat. I may break down and try them some day. Anyone ever see or try something like these?
I have two pot pies in the toaster oven. My son is going to come over early, and eat lunch before we have to leave to go to the doctor.
I had a surprise arrival of DMS ( during..as opposed to pre- Can't use the popular abbreviation as my dearly beloved hubby is Tom, and I can't bring myself to call something I loathe by the name of someone I love so much.) I guess that explains some of why I felt like I had been beaten yesterday. I am getting to the age where these things ought to cease...I wish they would some days. :(
JACK: How is your RA doing? Does the cold weather bother you? I find as the weather turns, I feel rather crappy. One more reason to move to Florida according to Tom..... :) Enjoy your weekend.
GATOR: Sorry you had computer problems. I missed you, and wondered what was up! Obviously, not your computer! ;)
How long does it take for a swallowtail to come out of a crysalis? I have one on my dill plant, and I want to keep an eye on it, and hopefully see it happen!
DEB: Good article on whole wheat. I have had to explain the enriched wheat is NOT whole grain, and that wheat rolls at restaurants are not ok. Its kind of hard when people are trying to accomodate me and my diet, and feel so proud of themselves for getting me wheat bread. I mean, what do you say? I have had to explain it, and sometimes they just don't get it!
PANCHO: I hope the baby is ok....
HEART: Wow...you are doing great! Nice steady losses! Congrats!
ANGE: The pot pies are great aren't they? I honestly think my daughter had ulterior motives in getting me to come in! She left and I had to do ALL the dishes! There were about 20 bags, and 50 tips and a dozen spatulas, and, and, and! It took me 30 minutes to wash it all! She always was sneaky! :s:
BEACH: I hope my manager appreciated it too. In fact, I told him he better, or else! Enjoy your weekend! I have to work Monday. Why or why didn't I tell him not to schedule me? :(
I am making brown sweet rice to make rice pudding. I found the brown sweet rice at a different HFS today. It is a naturally sweet tasting, sticky rice. If you like rice pudding, you might check your local HFS and see if they carry it. I have one bag that says Lund brand. They are all bulk packaging though.
Later!

Well, I knew if I waited around long enough Deb would send the posse out after me. It's just a ploy to make sure I'm still wanted, LOL.
I see we have a ton of new people on the board, so I'll introduce myself. My name is Trish, 44 years old, married, 2 sons, 18 and 11. I live in a tiny town in Texas called Pflugerville, just outside of Austin.
It's been a crazy summer. Jordan, our oldest, turned 18 in May and graduated from high school. He leaves the end of September for Marine boot camp. He's going into Security Forces (they do stuff like anti-terrorism, guard the White House, guard Embassies, you know low-key stuff that doesn't worry a mom at all) and we're very proud. Seth started middle school 2 weeks ago.
I've really missed you guys. My eating has actually been pretty good (not counting vacation) but the exercise has been pretty non-existent. I lost my walking buddy and I hate walking alone. Gotta either find a new one or figure out something.
Missy, I thought about you when we came through Louisiana last month. We were on our way home from Destin, Florida. Can you believe it's finally football season? The Longhorn season opener is Sunday and I won tickets at the office. Woohoo!!
Deb, thanks for sending the search party out after me. I promise I won't stay away so long.
Sorry I don't have time to respond to everyone.
Have a great Friday!!

 I LOVE BEING OFF...I can keep up with the posts!
Hi Trish...I was on the board a while back and have recently rejoined...I have a 16 and 2 weeks from being 15 year old. Welcome back.
Gator: I've been so busy this week I haven't been able to post much either. Sorry about the computer...I hate it when something goes wrong. It messes up my day, and week!
Monet: Hope your son is better both DH and DS have had something. DH went to the DX for the 1st time in forever and ended up on Advair for breathing. It was a virus that quickly went to the lungs/bronchial tubes. Hope DS can fend this off and not get as bad.
Deb: You're right that we WILL get back down. I can't believe you get in 4.5 miles each day. That is amazing. I haven't been able to do that much. Way to go.
Pancho: Thanks for the advice. I will bottle up this impatience and let it out once I get to goal. I DON'T want to ever gain this weight back.
Heart: Sounds like you are doing good. I'm from Alabama and I have very mixed emotions about the 10 Commandments issue. I don't want God taken from the pledge or off of our money and if something has been posted forever somewhere I don't think it is right to make it come down. But I'm afraid that the judge who started all of this by putting the monument there this past year is using God and deliberately creating the situation to further his career. That scares me. Now he is saying he will run for the Senate. I just don't know what to think. But like you I worry about our country. I would be interested to know what Fillise/Susan thinks because she has more incite into what is going on politically in Montgomery.
Well have to run.
See ya'll soon.

Hey All:wave:
Just got home from getting the kids. Went to yoga class - missed it, well, missed it with the exception of having to do some ab work! Picked up a bunch of movies while I was there - lots of foreign films, just 2 American ones, one is THE MAN FROM ELYASIAN FIELDS. They couldn't find SIMONE which was supposed to be there.
HEART, I don't think I'd eat cabbage at anyone's house either - it's total fart food, I'm sure they were just wanting to save you the agony of the gas:lol: You should tape the kids talking and play it when they are older. We found a tape that MICHAEL did from elementary school and played it the other day - no one could figure out who was on the tape - it was hysterical! I know they have the brushes on Ebay - I think they're worth trying to find if you get the frizzies!
GATOR, glad to hear your computer is up and running -how'd that happen in the first place?
MONET, hope DS is okay. The nuggets, are the ones you saw HEALTH IS WEALTH? Now that I read on, it has to be because they have the pizza rolls and the like as well. They have another one, not pizza, I think they are jalapeno, but I can't remember, but they are the ones with the lowest fat and they are delish!!!! It's hard for those to understand that when something says wheat flour it's not whole wheat, I guess it's not so bad, at least you are teaching them something!
TRISH, good to see you back - now make sure you come back this time and don't go MIA for so long again, otherwise I'm going to have to drag your butt to the DETOX DUNGEON!!!!;)
BEACH, I forgot to ask you - are you still eating bananas? Let's look at the bright side of this - at least we didn't gain all the weight we lost back again! I am hoping to get back to goal by the end of the year and then on my 4 year SB Anniv. in March get below to where I was really comfortable, at 122, but whatever I achieve it will surely be better than where I stand at this time!
Okay, I'm outta here!
Later!

HiedieHo All!
Busy! Busy! Busy! Tuesday out singing, Wednesday - choir library work in the morning and choir in the evening, Thuirsday - usual nursing home group then to another nursing home to sing. This a.m. to breakfast and Bingo with friends (I hate Bingo but like friends!), am trying to get caught up with laundry etc now. Tomorrow meeting at church for the PW. All I have dome this week is run! I always say I don't want to rust out.......at this pace I will certainly wear out! But it is fun and better than sitting home moping!
FRUIT: Good thoughts going your way. I know we want to lose, but you need to feel good. If the meds give you a couple of pounds and feeling better that's what counts. Proportionately you will probably keep losing.
DEB: What would we do without the lessons you give us on food, products and the numbers they contain?! They really are helpful.
BOOM: Welcome to our Board. Everyone here is very helpful and I find out the most useful stuff here.
ANGE: Welcome. Every scale seems to weigh differently. I need a new one, I had bought a cheaper one to replace one I had for a long time. Cheap AINT good! I can weigh 250 today and 200 tomorrow!
HEART: Enjoyed the pics. No wonder the kids are so cute, look at their Mom! About the 10 Commandments Monument. Maybe that aethist lawyer did some good! How many people probably walked past that monument and never gave it a thought; or how many people never give the 10 Commandments a thought. Then along comes someone and stirs things up. Suddenly everyone is talking and getting religion. Now they are aware. I wonder how many of the protestors can cite the 10? I think we need a wake-up call about the roots of our country. Unfortunately it seems that when we protect someone's freedom there are those that say there's is limited by the action. Where does it end?
BOB: I copied the Holiday Inn post to take into group Monday. They will love it!
TEENSY: Got to thinking, you probably can't buy zinc lids anymore! Don't know how it would work out the the insert lids. Should be okay. I got the recipe from an older woman and those type lids were all that was available.....you know in the dark ages. When I started canning you had a choice of the two types and I just used what she did.
LIBRA: I with you on the low self esteem bit. I'm sure many others have the same problem. Part is my upbringing and part "who would want to have anything to do with me, a fatty". I was good at my job and interacted well there because of it, but my personal stauff isn't so hot. I hate to join new groups, etc. As I've aged I've gotten a little better...."here I am, this is as good as I get!" We're just glad you found us and sticking with us!
LAURIE: Welcome. I too am not here for a five pound loss. I often feel discouraged when I think of 100#. I did great and was down 70, when I hit some emotional problems and it was a wall I could not get over. Gradually I gained back some of the weight which made me feel worse. This group of wonderful epople did not give up on me. I think I have my emotions under control once more and am beginning to lose again. I don't think I could have done it without everyone here! I am also trying not to look at 100#, for me it is a whelming number. I am going to concentrate on small losses and hopefully one be amazed
at how they all mounted up to one big loss!!
MONET: You must be a dynamo to get all those cakes done! I think I'd need more than a handful of Ibruprofen!
PANCHO: Why make the pilaf just for family? Use brown rice and have some yourself!
I've got to find those Shelton Pies!
I'm sorry I havaen't been around much. I keep busy but sometimes the price is I have to rest in between!
FF:
A deserter GI was running down a road escaping from two MPs. He came to a fork in the road and saw a nun standing there. He asked her, "Please, Sister, may I hide under your skirts for a few minutes. I'll explain why later."
The nun agreed to his request. Shortly thereafter, the two MPs came running along and asked her if she had seen a soldier running down the road. She replied, "He went that way".
After the MPs disappeared, the soldier crawled out from under her skirt and said: " I can't thank! you enough Sister, but you see I don't want to go to Iraq."
The nun said she understood.
The GI said, "I hope you don't think me rude or impertinent, but you have the most beautiful pair of legs I've ever seen!"
The nun replied, "If you had looked a little higher, you would have seen the most beautiful pair of balls you've ever seen. I don't want to go to Iraq either!

THE CLASS OF 2007
__
Just in case you weren't feeling old enough today, this will
certainly change things. Each year the staff at Beloit College in
Wisconsin puts together a list to try to give the Faculty a sense of
the mindset of this year's incoming freshman.
Here is this year's list:
__
The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born in 1985.
__
They have no meaningful recollection of the Reagan Era and probably did not know he had ever been shot.
_
They were prepubescent when the Persian Gulf War was waged.
There has been only one Pope in their lifetime.
They were 10 when the Soviet Union broke apart and do not remember the Cold War.
_
They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.
Tiananmen Square means nothing to them.
__
Bottle caps have always been screw off and plastic.
Atari predates them, as do vinyl albums.
__
The statement "You sound like a broken record" means nothing to them.
_
They have never owned a record player.
__
They have likely never played Pac Man and have never heard of Pong.

A little girl walks into a pet shop and asks in the sweetest little lisp: "Excuthe me, mithter, do you keep wittle wabbiths?"
The shopkeeper gets down on his knees (so that he's on her level), and asks: "Do you want a wittle white wabby or a soft and fuwwy black wabby or maybe one like that cute wittle brown wabby over there?"
The little girl puts her hands on her knees, leans forward and says in a quiet voice: "I don't fink my pyfon weally gives a thit."

Monet--If the butterfly is still in caterpillar stage, it should eat your dill for just short of 2 weeks. Then it starts crawling around looking for a place to pupate. The chrysalis will hang there about 12 days - 2 weeks. Maybe even longer. Then the butterfly comes out. The butterfly comes out very quickly. If you already have the chrysalis, you can break off the little branch it's on and take it in your house where you can watch it. I have my butterfly cage on a shelf on my back porch, right up against my kitchen window. When I'm at the sink I can see everything that is going on. When the butterfly comes out, it can't fly right away. It will sit around for a couple of hours at least. It is during this time that I nudge it with a stick and get it to crawl up on the stick or my finger and carry it out to the garden. Have fun!

Gosh I need to clean this desk off and head home, but wanted to get my last post in.
We have an eaxtra day this weekend girls, so we will have to be very dilligent in our eating. Just think anytime you go to eat, that our Leader, Deb is watching. Maybe we will think twice about what we eat. Lets send some good vibes everyones way and do great over the weekend.
Deb, I didn't see the cinnamon and bb waffles. Will have to check. I would only eat one anyway. Gosh I thought your GF would see if anyone wanted some stuff first before he sold it. Doesn't he need furniture in his new place? I'm going to think about you being beside me :yikes: everytime I go to eat this weekend. I'm sure I will be good for sure. I have had lots of purple cabbage in my salads, slaw and sauerkraut this week :chin: that may explain a few things:s:
Ange, I am 7 lbs above my lowest wt. So until I get back down there, I'm not posting my stats. I do great during the week, but put it all right back on over the weekend. UGH!!!!
Beach, hang in there. It is hard to get back the motivation and patience you had at the beginning, but you know the results. You would think we would learn about putting the wt back on but we don't. I guess we are stupid or something. This is no fun taking the same pounds off twice. But try to think of this as good for you and for life and maybe it will be better. I;m like you on the exercise. As soon as we start walking, I'm thinking only so long until we're finished. I guess we are just lazy creatures at heart. Have a great weekend. Hope you don't get sick too. Enjoy your 4 days off.
Pancho, Deb's cheesecake calls for 1/2 cup agave. I'm not sure about the coversation though. Funny about your DD liking that dinner. I got a good laugh about you taking a pricture of the scale. Congrats on the new wt.
Heartmom, congrats on the 1lb. You are going along great. Some weeks your body needs to adjust so you won't lose, but wouldn't it be great if we could at elast lose 1 lb per week. We all would be happy.
Gator, I say all the time, I hate computers. Especially when I know nothing about them. Glad the French class is going good.
Monet, My RA is doing ok. I have been so tired lately and still getting 8 hrs sleep, so I think it must be the RA, The cold weather really doesn't bother my RA, just that I hate it. Those pizza rolls sound good. Let me know if yo try them and the brand. Always interested in something different.
Trish, sure we still want you. So glad you dropped in. Sounds like you are doing great with your eating. Now just get out there and exercise. Make DH go with you. That's what I do. Glad your DS isn't in anything to dangerous. Don't be a stranger.
Sef, you are so busy, but I'm glad you are enjoying it. Hopes it keeps the blues away. Have a great weekend.
Won't be back on until Tuesday. So have a wonderful weekend. Get some R&R and stay legal.
Kim, Wherever you are....Come back.
Bob, have a great and safe trip.

I thought I'd pop in to say hello and to let you know that I'm still around. I'm in full election mode now, so you know what that means! I will be back after the 10th, but it will be hectic until then!
I hope everyone is doing well and know that I think about y'all even if I can't be with you!

Hi everyone. I've been gone all day shopping. Had an early start. Our Super Wal Mart is an hour and 1/2 away so its really an all day trip. Did find a HFS that carries Atkins barbeque sauce. Someone told me it was good but spicy. I hope it tastes good cause it costs a kings ransom. Also stocked up on the pot pies. Thanks everyone for sending some rain. It sure helped it cool off a bit and we needed it so bad. Hope it rains some more. I can hear people on the river. They've started early on there three day week end. Didn't get to walk on the TM this morning but hope to this evening so I'll get my five days in. Sorry I don't have time to reply to everyone but I need to get off here cause I'm really tired and still have to heat something up for dinner.

Pancho--
When I make Deb's cheesecake recipe, I only use 1/3 C. agave. It is plenty sweet with that amount. It tastes just like regular cheesecake.

Dinner tonight was scrounge. That means you find your own, cause I ain't cookin'! I feel rather crummy from the DMS. Still a bit crabby too.
I took my son to the doctor. He has infected ears, and probably bronchitis, so they gave him antibiodics and cough syrup with codeine to help him sleep. He couldn't afford the co-pay or the prescription, blast him, so I had to pay for it. I sure wish he would get his finances under control. The doctor was rushed and we actually saw his PA, but he came in to say hello, and meet my son. Drove home through some really heavy thunder storms, which unfortunately missed my neighborhood!
DEB: Thanks for the emails you sent. I looked the site over, and it has some good stuff on it. Not far from me, either! Just about 20 minutes north of here. So are the items of that brand ok? Even though they mention cornmeal in the batter, but at the very bottom of the ingredients list? I will look for the jalapeno ones. didn't see them that I can remember today.
TRISH: Good to see you! Don't get lost again! OK?
TONI: And I thought our Super Wal Mart was far! I like to go once in a while though! Tomorrow is Costco day for me. I need all kinds of stuff from there. I hope it doesn't cost too much!
FILLISE: Are you coming to Hotlanta? Let me know!
JACK: Have a great weekend! Behave now, hear??? :)
GATOR: Thanks for the info! I will keep an eye on the crysalis. Its been there about a week. I am afraid if I bring it in, I will not be home or something.... I bought two more dill plants in case any more of the caterpillars show up! ;)
SEF: Whew! I am tired just reading all you have been up to! I was thinking it through, and I actually did about 35 cakes, not 25! I probably should have taken more ibuprofen! If I did not take Glucophage, I probably would have indulged in a couple of stiff drinks! :s:
BEACH: The doctor gave him antibiodics, so he is happy. He tends to get Pneumonia, so I worry about him. Other that that, he stays fairly healthy. Enjoy your time off! Think of me, working my fingers to the bone while you are playing on Monday! ;)

Monet--Another thing you should know about the chrysalis is that they almost always open up in the morning. Many of mine emerged around 8 am. but they can come out any time before noon. That way they have a time to dry out before the afternoon storms. God wired them so they know to come out early so they are not trying to find their way in the dark.

Good Morning all
I'm checking in to say howdy to you all and to wish you all a good long weekend. I planned on doing a decent post but time is running away on me. I was starving so decided to have an early lunch as I am going to see a couple of my grandsons play soccer and I have to be there for 12.15 p.m. I just made some ww spaghetti and had it with some Classico Spinach and Cheese Pasta Sauce and it was delicious. Nice and spicy. I have a couple of servings in the freezer for a quick meal later on. I did start a post a couple of days ago which never got finished so I'll post it now even though it is a bit out of date. I haven't read to-day's board yet, maybe when I get home. This evening I am going out to dinner and a movie with a girl friend so it might be midnight before I get back on.
Jack-K - Wow - you are really the exercise girl these days.
Angehaley - That's really frustrating when you lose a post. It's happened to me before with WordPad. I only wish I knew which keys I'd hit to make it happen. I always try to remember to save as I go along, maybe every 5 or ten minutes so if it happens to close on me at least I can salvage some of it.
Bashful - Sorry you are having trouble with the sb woe. It can be difficult to find legal foods when you are on the run and I would like to second what Beachfan said that sometimes we just have to do the best we can. Whatever you decide to do I wish you luck and do feel free to come back here any time.
Pancho - Glad to hear that your dd is settling into school routine. So often it is harder for the Moms than the kids. That was a great deal you got on the lunch boxes. Too bad you didn't get more satisfaction out of your visit to the nutritionist.
Boom - Welcome to SB.
I start my new temp job next week and will be away all week. I will leave Monday evening to a small town about 2 hours drive from here and return on Friday evening. The following week I will be off again. I will not have access to a computer while away but will try to check in on weekends.
Gotta run.

Monet feels like #&^$ warmed over today. DMS is particularly rough this time, and I feel like someone ran over me with a Mack truck.
Nothing much going on. I finished a novel I was reading, played a computer game for a while, and took a nap. Its after 3pm, and I am still in my nightgown. I sent Tom to Costco for me, which was nice of him, since he hates shopping. Probably saved me $$ too, cause I always find things that I need that are not on the list. He just sticks to the list, and that is that. It is kind of overcast here, and that adds to my sleepiness. Hope everyone is doing well!
PUSSYWILLOW: No one thinks of you as a trouble maker. Just jump on in, and don't worry about it. We are not the kind of group to hold grudges....
ROSALIE: Man, we will miss you during the week, when you are gone! How long will the job last?
GATOR: Ok! Thanks for the hint! I will watch it in the mornings as much as I can. Unfortunately, I have to work 7 to 1 Monday through Friday next week. Looks like I very well may miss it! :(
PANCHO: I forgot to mention something about agave. I find it does not work as well as I would like in cookies...I like cookies crisp and it makes them more moist. I have used it in cakes, and it works very well. I use about 3/4 of a cup when the recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, or honey. I am not sure if it is sweeter, or my taste buds are just satisfied with less!

It's been a beautiful day here. Not as hot/muggy as it has been. My DD and I went walking and had a good time. She walks faster than my DH so I got in a good work out. My house is a WRECK. I need to get motivated and clean but I'm just being lazy today. Knowing I have Monday off, I don't feel so pressured to get everything in order before we go back to school/work.
Hey GATOR/CROC: Have fun playing San Jose State today. Auburn has a little tougher test...USC
Bama's on TV right now playing Southern Florida. Hope SF wins :)
Rosalie: We miss you...have fun with the GS at soccer.
Susan  WE miss you. Things don't look so good for the election:mad: Sending you good vibes:goodvibes
Pussywillow: :grouphug: Stop worrying and just join in and post. All newbies are welcomed and you didn't really start anything. There's just been a misunderstanding which is over now.
Monet: :genie: If I could I would magically make it where you didn't have to work Monday. DH has to work too. That's the bummer about working retail. Holidays are about non-existent!
Glad DS is on antibiotics. Hubby here is better. Son has it but he is like the Ever Ready Bunny...he just keeps on going. Hope you feel better soon.
Deb: :strong: WE ARE going to get back down and stay there! I guess you are right...at least we didn't gain all our weight back and the bright side is we didn't gain back all our weight plus some which I have done before. Have a great weekend.
Fruit: Hope you are having fun but not too much fun.
Well have to run...Have a great weekend everyone.

A Lawyer and the Pope Die and Go to Heaven…
A lawyer died. At the same moment, the Pope also died. They arrived at the gates of heaven at the same moment. They spend the day in orientation, and as they're getting their heavenly vestments, the Pope gets a plain white toga and wings, like everyone else, and the lawyer gets much finer apparel, made of gold thread, and Gucci shoes.
Then, they get to see where they're going to live. The Pope gets what everyone else gets, a replica of a Holiday Inn room, and the lawyer gets an 18-room mansion with servants and a swimming pool.
At dinnertime, the Pope receives the standard meal, a kosher TV dinner, but the lawyer receives a five-course meal including caviar, prime rib and chocolate truffles.
By this time, the lawyer is beginning to suspect that an error has been made, so he asks one of the angels in charge, "Has there been some kind of mistake? This guy was the Pope, and he gets what everyone else gets, and I'm just a lawyer and I'm getting the finest of everything?"
The angel replied, "No mistake, sir. We've had lots of Popes here, but you're the first lawyer we've ever had."

Just got back from town- I had $40 and made it stretch. I stopped at a yard sale on the way to town and got 2 pairs of capris for a buck each. They are size 14. One fits just right and the other is very tight, especially on my butt. Then I went to a thrift store and got a blouse, toy phone for Ashley, toy gun for Boogie, nice shirt for Ashley, and a Barbie beach chair for Ashley-all for $3. They were having a sale. Then I went to Big Lots, didn't find nothing there except some spices, etc. Oh, and I bought a 72% cocoa Droste chocolate bar. I was hungry and ended up eating the whole darn thing! No wonder I have a sour stomach now. I still don't understand how it's legal if the 2nd ingriedent is sugar. The bar has 2.5 servings- each serving has 18 g of carbs and 12 g sugar. Ugh, now that I see that in writing, I wish I hadn't bought it and consumed the WHOLE THING! Okay, okay, it could be worse. Anyway, back to my shopping. I then went to Dirt Cheap and got Ashley a pair of nice overalls for a buck. Then went next door to Hudson's where they received a shipment of nice clothes at good prices. I got a really pretty top that is light purple and suede-like and looks really expensive, a pretty red sweater, 2 winter tops for Boogie, and 2 winter tops for Ashley. I have $2 left!! I wish I had more money- then I could have got the kids winter clothes at excellent prices. Oh, well. Not much else going on- Robby's cutting grass and later he's going fishing with the "guys"- then I will be bored again. Oh, I forgot- I borrowed some movies from my friend. I got Just Married, Head of State, and Lord of the Rings(the Two Towers). Well, that's all folks...

BEACH: Its been overcast here in Hotlanta! And just now, it started thundering. The sun is shining some though. I wish it would rain...we need it. We usually get your weather after you are done with it! ;)
HEART: Wow, you did some great shopping! I love going to Big Lots and looking for bargains, but I don't do it very often. I found an electric mattress pad there a year or two ago that was $19. It was exactly like the one I had that had broken, that had cost $79 the year before! I still have it, and it works great! I went there at Christmas last year with my daughter, and we had a blast!
I think I will toddle down and find some chocolate. Heartmom's talking about chocolate has made me think of it! ;)

HiedieHo All!
Talk about rain!! Went to a PW board meeting this morning and then to Sam's. It was nice (and so was I) when I went in but pouring when I came out. I waited a bit hoping it would let up, but not my luck! The parking lot was a swimming pool. By the time I got everything packed in the trunk I was a sad sight. Not just the idea of bedraggled hair but clothes plastered to this body gives one pause!!!! I backed car as far as I could into the garage (I was stopped by the weight lifting bench and bars, that sits there as decor) DS and I unloaded car and then I moved car out, no use him getting wet too. Even walked out to the mailbox. Had to strip and shower so my hair would look decent tonight, I am working the box office at the Community Theater. That's my adventure for today!
TRISH: Nice to see your post, you know you are always welcome here.
JACKK: Glad you are managing your RA. You're just the energizer bunny! You would have to remind me to stay legal! I'll do my best, no food involved in todays activities.
FILLISE: Nice to see a Hi from you.
GATOR: How boring if we all had the same tastes and thought alike! I always add a couple of tablespoons extra to the cheesecake, think it has more flavor that way and tastes like a true cheescake!
MONET: You're such a good mother. The job never ends! Hope your son appreciates you and that he will feel better soon!
My sentiments are a dose of Southern Comfort is good for any contingency. Tired? Have a shot! Blue? Have a shot! Happy? Hey feel happier!
PUSSY: Did we say you're trouble?!? Read above, have a shot and stop feeling troubled!
ROSALIE: Hope you enjoy the job, will make it easier being away from home.
MONET: How nice that Tom sticks to the list. My DH liked to shop I would write out a list for him. He would return with non-list items, I tell him they were not on the list. He would show the list and say they are now! He would add the items to the llist. Hope you feel better.
BEACH: Nice to see the Happy Happy Saturday! We need to be reminded about such things!
HEART: Cute. I'll use it tomorrow with my group! What a great shopping spree!
Think I will take a little rest so I can be bright eyed and bushy tailed tonight.
Take care, Shirley

I am SuperDave and new to this board.
Married to same woman 45 years have 2 children Son and Daughter with 3 Grandchildren 15,13,7. Live in Ft Worth Tx
and hope to get to know everyone and get support and also give support. This is a GREAT board. I have been on adkins for 8 months and having been trying to get on Sugar Busters and now I am here. I have 30 pound to lose and have lost 32 on adkins. Just got off two week vacation in Euorpe went to France and Beligium where my Son and family lives. I only gained 1 pound and had lots of red wine and good food. But I stayed within the Sb guidelines and it works if you work it. Yes I cheated a couple times. Thanks for your support.

 Hi Dave Welcome...the board is always slow on the weekends. Yes, SB is great and it does work. I have a friend doing South Beach...I told her it is basically Atkins the 1st 2 weeks and SB after that. Sounds like you had a great time in Europe.
BOB:) Hey I'm from Alabama I have to watch the in state games 1st. AU is losing bad right now. We don't have our act together. Wonder why we start the season with such a tough team:?: Oh well, that's life and it is just the 2nd quarter right now. Maybe we will turn it around.
Deb...I know what you mean about the puter...I need one for each person in my family! Don't have that but boy would they want it! Every once in a while I will eat a banana. But not too often now. Doing WW with SB, means I have to look for lower calorie alternatives or I starve.
Sef...Glad you like the happy Saturday. I too think we all need to enjoy special days and I think Saturdays are always special.
Dinner tonight is steak, rice and carrots. For newbies the book says carrots are a no no but several researches into the GI of the carrots supports that they are ok.
Hey all a newbie posted a new question under the weekly support board. I directed her here and told her to hit post reply not new thread. But if you get a chance go see if you can answer her ? about moving from Atkins to SB.

Well, after almost a week of Monet telling about the boards and how wonderufl a place this is, I have finally meandered my way over and have been reading the last week's worth of the board. This is definitely a great bunch and even though this is my first post, I already feel at home.
Let me introduce myself.... I am Amy, a married mother of 3, working full time with Monet in the bakery (boy it's rough!!), and new to SB. I was diagnosed with suger difficulites (for lack of another way to say it), and told to lose 10 pounds by Sept 22 with the help of Phentermin(e) [sp?]. As of Friday night, the scales at my house and 2 other reliable scales both read that I am already down 8 pounds!!!! All this from dropping almost all sugar (only the limited natural, good sugars going into this mouth), watching how much, and what I eat and drinking between 1 and 2 gallons, if not more water a day. I've spoiled myself the last 3 days with 1 diet coke each day.... which is a major switch for the better for me. In looking back, I was drinking 6-8 cans of soda a day.... so I'm guessing that's where alot of my sugar addiction came into play with my levels.
I've been good in reading all the info I can on SB, getting wonderful support (Thanks a million Monet!!), and looking forward to shocking the pants off the dr when I go back in 3 weeks. I know that the first 1-2 weeks are when the biggest difference is noticed, so if I only drop 1-2 pounds the next couple weeks I'll be ok....
keeping my fingers crossed here in Hotlanta!!!!
hugs!
Pixie

WILD: Glad you made it! And thanks for giving me credit, where I certainly don't deserve it! I hope you do shock the pants of Einstein. He deserves it, playing that foot on the scale trick!
BOB: The Dawgs won, huh? Hooray! Maybe I can be a real fan this year! Sorry about the problem in Cordele....sounds dreadful! When are you coming to Hotlanta? I am off in the afternoons, from about 1 on....
SUPERDAVE: Welcome! I hope you can stand being around all these women! We really love having a token male though! ;) Our last one disappeared!
SEF: Sounds like you had quite an adventure with the rain! Maybe you should have had a boat instead of a car!
DEB: I keep telling you, you are too nice! You deserve a turn on the computer too! If it isn't schoolwork, they ought to have to go read a book until you are finished.
Its about time for bed, and my head is swimming. Sweet dreams everyone!

 Happy Glorious Sunday
Weather is still pretty here. Monet and Pixie, it should be getting pretty in Hotlanta too! Well DD is at work this morning. I have to pick her up at 11...this is a new job working in the nursery of a church. We have to figure out when we'll go to church now...because she is working when we usually go. DH is feeling better but DS is not. He's still asleep this morning. DH said he is up to getting a walk in today. So my walking partner is back. My weigh in is tomorrow for WW but I cheated and looked this morn and it looks like I may be at 167...We'll see what the official weekly weight is tomorrow.
Willow: They are talking about Shelton Pot Pies. Pot pies are usually a meat and vegetables mixed with a cream sauce. Kind of like a meat pie. They buy them in health food stores. I've never seen them in the regular stores. They are low carb.
:wave:PIXIE WELCOME: Congrats on doing so well. I too have a sugar problem...so this woe has been very helpful for me. FYI...my DH works for Publix too. I have 2 children a 16 year old DD and almost 15 yearold DS.
GATOR and BOB: :o :o :o I think you know why I am embarrased! AU has to regroup!
Have a great day everyone.

Still DMSing here...and I am getting worried about it. This has to be the worst I have ever experienced. Any post menopausal members care to reassure me? Is it normal to have niagra falls, or should I be concerned?
On a happier note, I hopped on the scale this morning, and I am down another two pounds. Maybe three, but my scale sucks and the needle won't stay still. I was just happy to see the new number! I did not even have to lean very far to the side! :D
WILLOW: The Shelton Pot Pies are made with all white chicken meat, and a whole wheat crust. They are not actually low carb, but are totally legal for SugarBusters. I find mine at a health food store. as Beachfan mentioned. They are really yummy! It's nice to find a convienence food that is ok for SB. I tend to stock up on them, and get like two cases (12) at a time. They give me a 10% discount on them, which makes it even better! Check at your local health food store, and if they don't have them, you might ask if they can get them. They are frozen, by the way.

Monet--Actually, you can bring the chrysalis inside and put it in a large bowl that you have covered with netting or even put a lid a little ajar on it. If the butterfly emerges while you are gone, it will just hang around in the covered bowl. If you put the bowl in the kitchen or dining table where you spend a lot of time, you can keep an eye on it pretty well there. One day I came home and there were 3 butterflies in the butterfly cage that had all "hatched" and were waiting to fly away.
Monet, I had forgotten that you were a dawg fan. Hmmmm. The dawg are our real arch rivals, even more than Ewe Tee and the Noles. I've been to so many games where the dawgs mistreated the Gators. I'm glad we beat up on y'all for 12 years because we owed you all so much as "pay back." for the 60's, 70's and 80's where the dawgs so often pulled the rug out from under the Gators. :) I think you all have the upper hand now that visor man is in Washington DC. Richt is probably a better coach than Zook, and that makes a big difference. I don't think the Gators can do again what they did last year with the dawgs and hounds.
BOB--Congrats on the win for yall. We'll see the hounds in 3 weeks.
Susan--I know how that loss must hurt. I've felt that way over some Gator games. I wish we were still playing y'all. It always was a great trip up there.
Still staying the same with my weight. Am taking my Thyrolar faithfully, along with the carnitine, but no difference. :(
I guess I'll have to count calories forever. I really should be able to live on more than 1200 calories per day. But that is what it seems to take to lose 1 pound a week. UGH!!!

Monet still feels terrible. Added to the usual complaints are some nausea and heartburn from the peanut butter I had on my apple at lunch. I get heartburn very infrequently, so it is particularly annoying. This is one of those days when I want to ask someone to take a gun and shoot me!
GATOR: Tom scared a butterfly accidently this morning. He said it was on the dill plant. I checked it out, and the crysalis was empty! I am assuming the one he saw had emerged this morning and was just finished drying off! Oh well! I planted more dill, and if I find anymore caterpillars, I will try and put them in a bowl with netting so I can watch. As for the dawgs, what can I say? Did I tell you my two sisters went to Florida? One graduated in about 1968, the other was there until about 1969, then transferred to the University of California. Another of my sisters and I both went to UGA, and football season was always fun around our house. My poor father never knew who to cheer for, for fear of angering on of his daughters! He tried alternating years, refusing to watch the game, cheering for both teams..... It actually was pretty funny. As for your thyroid issues... when do you get rechecked for the Thyrolar levels? I think I have finally gotten to a good level of T3, and will be able to lose some now. At least that is what the doctor is telling me. I hope he is right! I wonder if the 1200 calories is maybe too low. Try eating more vegetables, and fruits. I wouldn't be surprised if you need more of the T3 to lose. I wonder if the doctor would give you Phentermine to help get your metabolism revved up.....

Just got back from France and Beligium for 2 weeks vacation. I am proud to say I gained only 1 pound. Stuck to my guns and ate the SB way. Had lots of red wine and did cheat a couple times. I am very pleased as I thought I would gain 5 pounds at least. The Bread over there is whole grain and no preserveatives(sp) and I had more than usual. My wife and I are history buffs so we walked a lot, sight seeing. It goes to show if you stick with your plan then it works, not bragging just sharing, I really like this board. Hope everyone had a safe holiday .

:?: I am really confused! I have very recently read two books: Sugar Busters and The Zone. It's so frustrating when they both sound like they are right....but esp. in The Zone the author insists his way is the absolute best and healthiest. How do we know this is true?
Sugar Busters had a lot of similar ideas to The Zone, but was much easier to read, and not as scientific. They both claim to lower insulin production to unlock fat cells so they can be burned, which improves diabetes, cardio health, etc.
I guess the real problem for me with SB is that I don't know exactly how much to eat of all the things on the Sugar Busters approved foods list. I am such a compulsive overeater that I wonder if I'll do well on such a seemingly unstructured plan. I weigh 238 pounds at 5'6" tall, and would like to lose nearly 100 pounds. I have a long way to go, obviously, and on top of that my mom, a diabetic for years, recently had a fatal heart attack (62 years old), as did her mom and her mom's sister, as a result of their diabetes. I feel I have a lot at stake. Yet if I go to the doctor for a "diet" he'll surely tell me to eat lots of complex carbs, little protein, etc. I'm really feeling stressed and confused about this! Does anyone have a similar experience or some thoughts to share with me? I need to decide what to do, for my health.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and, I hope, respond!:)

Evening Everyone:wave:
Can finally get on the board and try to get caught up, at least somewhat. No kids how YET. LAUREN is babysitting and MICHAEL stayed over night at his friend ANNA'S house last night and is still there. Yes, it's a girl's house, my friend DEBBY was surprised, but MICHAEL is all the parent's favorite kid to invite over and there's no love interests at all with him and any of his "girl friends" and the parents just love having over - unlike my friend DEBBY'S son who's a total horn-dog.
ELI and I went up to Broward today, got a late start and didn't do anything special. Did stop at the fruit stand at the end of the day - now I know when to go there and get some great bargains, peaches, plums, pears, nectarines apples, grapes & summer squash .50 cents a pound. 3lbs onions, $1 a bag, honeydew, $1 each, parsley .33 and carrots, 50cents a bag - they aren't open Mondays and Tuesday so they have to sell off everything otherwise toss it.
Got in my walk this morning - 6 out of the 7 days this week. 26 miles total - not too shabby!
AGAPE said to wish you all a HELLO. She has no compute and was e-mailing me from a friends house. She hopes to have it up and running again soon.
SEF, I can see from the list of all you have been doing this week you are feeling like your OLD SEF! Couldn't resist! Gosh, I can be so witty sometimes:lol: Glad you read some of the info that I post - I'm always trying to find some useful info to pass along. Thanks for posting the FF - you always come up with some great stuff!
JACKK, I like the ww waffles, they're light and fluffy - I haven't tried the cinnamon, but I really like the blueberry. I think I will go buy some more before they go off sale on Wednesday. I think they were 2/$5.00? I was at my GF house, nothing he's put up for sale would I be interested in getting and I won't take something just for the sake of taking something - have to really like it. I don't have any room to put another dust collector. I think he's buying just about all new furniture when he moves. So, how'd you do this weekend - did I invade your thoughts????
FILLISE, glad to see you check in - I'm sure you'll be back when things are all over and you can once again breath!!
TONI, let us know how the bbq sauce is. I think the brand I have is WALDEN FARMS, though not sure - but whatever brand it is, I really like it. Why not make some yourself, the recipe I have on the board is absolutely AWESOME!!!
GATOR, I only use a 1/3 of a cup of agave in the cheesecake as well - it's sweet enough.
MONET, dinner in my house is always scrounge it seems:shrug: I think the chicken nuggets would end up being okay. Just remember, as you pair up a high GI food with a lower GI food it gives you a moderate reading. A serving was only 3 of them though, so do be careful if you eat them. I wasn't crazy about the batter part of them - looked at the box today at the HFS. Hope DS feels better. Good job on being down another 2lbs - seems the weight is moving a little better these days:cp:
WILLOW, no need to apologize for anything, you didn't say anything wrong at all, it wasn't you, so please, don't worry:) I hope the pot pie question was answered, but just to put a little more info, there's turkey and chicken. I think the chicken is the best, just don't get the organic, it's not made with whole wheat. If you have a HFS in your area, ask them to see if they have them, and if not, if they can order you some - they are really delish!
ROSALIE, good luck with the job - check in when you can!
BEACH, I guess maybe what good that the weight gain had is that it got you back on the board! There's at least 1 thing positive about this. It's unrealistic to think that we will never gain back any weight over the years, it's inevitable, I know this and if anyone doesn't think it, they better think again. BUT, it's how much you let yourself gain, and how much is part of the aging process that you have to look at-if we could just keep within that 5lb cushion we'd be okay. I know when I got below my goal it was really hard to stay at that number I really liked so well. I just have to learn that when I find myself with a few pounds gain to catch it at that time and not let it get higher, that's something I've not learned, but without having gained all my weight back each time I've been on a diet and lost weight, I'm learning something along the way, so it seems;) The gal who's post you saw, she posted it twice and I answered her on the other post-not sure if she saw them or not.
HEARTMOM, loved the lawyer joke, sent it to my friends who are lawyers! What great bargains you got - I'm proud and I'm sure BOB would be too! You can now join the BARGAIN CLUB!;) I'm SURE the DROSTE was delish - I have quite a few bars in my stash, BUT, only a 1/2 ounce should be eaten. If you compare the grams of sugar in that bar, vs something like a Hershey's chocolate bar, you'd see a big difference. MICHAEL got LOTR for his birthday - haven't watched it though - any of the other two movies any good?
BOB, OMG, I can only imagine POOP-CASO painting the town, or at least the hotel room - he's leaving his mark everywhere! Just imagining this occuring, visualizing it, you had me laughing! Maybe you can find doggie depends? When you coming home?
SUPERDAVE http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign4.jpg Glad you've decided to join us - glad you are being brave enough to join us. You should feel right at home with all the other TEXANS here on the board. Don't worry that we're a bunch of women, as I said, we don't bite (hard):) Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions, we're all more than happy to try and help answer any you may have. OMG (Oh my G-d) man, if I went back to Belgium and France, I'd surely gain a good 20lbs - I ate my way through both countries, not to mention otheres - best pastries were def. in Belgium!!! Best candy too! Oh, I love LEONIDAS!!! I can't believe you only gained a pound! You definitely deserve a big hand:cp: I'd love to go back there - hope you had a good time! Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD - it was nice to learn more about you. What good movies have you seen recently that you can recommend?
WILDROSEPIXIE, http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign2.jpg Hope you don't mind if I shorten your name to PIXIE, as we have a YELLOWROSE that goes by ROSE:) Glad MONET got you directed to our board, we've heard nice things about you (pay up MONET!) Of course, just kidding there;) MONET is a wealth of SB INFO so you are in good hands - and what a great thing to have someone else at work doing SB with you - it should make it much easier. Anything MONET can't answer, feel free to ask us on the board and we'll try to answer any questions you may have. You are doing an AWESOME job so far - what a great weight loss:bravo: You def. are going to shock your Dr. - you'll have to tell us what he says when you see him!
COUNTRY, enjoy your time with DH!!!!
GARDEN http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_sign3.jpg Glad to have you join us and ask some questions. Of course, I think anyone who writes a book, diet or otherwise, wants to think their book is the best and will solve everyone's weight loss issues, but we do know better. Unfortunately, the SB book is a bit confusing, contradictory and misleading at times. To understand this you have to know that the men who wrote SB took the ideas of MICHEL MONTIGNACS book from France and made a US version before he was able to do so. If you read his book you'd understand this WOE better. Anyhow, what you need to do is determine for yourself what WOE you know you'd be able to follow the rest of your life. For me, and many others, SB was it. If you want to know how many calories, etc to take in, just e-mail me and I'll be happy to help you with the number crunches - e-mail with your current and goal weight, height, frame/bone size and age to Debelli@AOL.com Feel free to ask any other questions you may have, we're all happy to help! AND, you should feel right at home with all the other TEXANS on the board!!!
WOW! I'm caught up - actually, I had finished this post a little bit ago and somehow hit a key and lost some of it. Thankfully, not all of it as I had some of it saved otherwise you'd all here me yelling!
Will be on tomorrow morning to start the new board, around 7amish or so. Going to try and start the week off with a nice walk in the morning.
Nite all!

Momet--What is Phentermine?

Dave--We spent a month in France in May. It was fabulous. We had a cook at the villa we rented. She actually was a "chef" and we had delicious meals. Only once did she fix potatoes, and all the rest was just meat and veggies. We did have the bread every day, but it was the regular delicious French white baguette. Nothing like it here in the US. The baguettes they make at Costco are the closest I can find, and they are not the same. We did have ice cream for dessert. But I did not have any pastries and only a croissant once!
OK everyone, my last caterpillar went into chrysalis today. it was so fascinating to watch him shed his skin and the new little "being" harden its shell for its pupa stage. I have 21 chrysalides in all. Zebra long wings, Eastern Black swallowtails, and gold rim swallowtails. Monet, you probably have the black swallowtail that was eating the dill. They also love carrots and fennel, besides the parsley. Actually, I think they like the fennel best of all. I will post a picture of one of the chrysalides tomorrow, a very unusual looking one.
Well, gotta go. Have a great Labor Day, y'all.
Ellen

GATOR: Phentermine is a metabolic boosting diet pill. The brand name is Adipex. Phentermine is the generic name. My doctor uses it with his patients who are hypothyroid, or hyperinsulinemic. The first month I took it, which was a while ago, I lost 15! Man, was I excited! Unfortunately, my thyroid took another step back the next month, and I only lost 5. I have used it off and on for about three years now. When my thyroid levels are good, and I use it and stick to program, I lose better. Like now, I am using it some, and seeing some results.
GARDEN: I have looked at the Zone, and it was more confusing to me than SB was. Eating should not be a mathematical chore in my opinion. I picked SB to follow for its simplicity. As you can see from the people on this board, it does work. I am sure the Zone will work well too, if you follow it, but SB is easier. As for amounts, let your hunger be your guide. I bet most of the people on here will tell you when they first started they did not worry about amounts, but just sticking to allowed foods, and eating enough not to be hungry. You do that first, then start working on the portion sizes if you need to. We are so ingrained with the idea of eating like a bird to lose that we forget eating TOO little is almost as bad as eating too much. Your metabolism slows down, because your body thinks you are starving. I would say, eat fresh fruits, and veggies, and whole grains, lean protein, and drink plenty of water. Eat only enough to satisfy yourself, and then stop. Eat more frequent, smaller meals, and you will probably be amazed at the results. Another new board member, Wild Rose Pixie, has mainly cut out sodas, and replaced her grains with whole grains, and stopped eating sugar, and lost eight pounds in less than a week! While not everyone has such dramatic results, most people can tell a big difference in energy levels within a few days, and most people lose pretty well. Why not give the program a two week try and see what happens? We are all here to help! Come by often and ask away!

Oh, duh! I got on here to post and just did a post with two replies and forgot to post anything! Yes, my brain is on vacation.
Went to church tonight. I feel better for having gotten out. I did load up on vitamin I (ibuprofen) before we left. After church, a group of us usually goes out for dinner, but the group wanted to go Mexican, so we hung around and chatted, then headed home. We got into a good discussion on the way home, and went to a Thai/Chinese place for a light supper instead of going home. It was nice to sit and chat with my dearly beloved for a little while. I got coconut soup, and a finely diced chicken dish that was supposed to be wrapped in lettuce. I was not too happy with the lettuce wraps. The lettuce was not the right size for wrapping, and when it arrived, it was laced with whole kernal corn! I picked as much of it out as I could. It was pretty tasty, inspite of that. Tom got a beef dish that was excellent. We did not eat rice, but had hot tea with splenda and lemon. Ah! I probably won't sleep tonight from the caffiene! ;)
Gotta work tomorrow bright and early, so I am going to toddle off to bed now! Good night everyone! Sweet dreams!

I appreciate your words of encouragement regarding the SB plan. I think I will check out the Montignac book, if it's available in English now. I noticed some contradictions in the SB book, as well, such as the need to eat whole grains, like oatmeal, but then in the eating plan they offer instant oatmeal as a breakfast, which I thought wasn't a good option. Also, I wondered if the milk, cheese, etc. in the acceptable dairy section should be lowfat or fatfree, not just regular whole products as it seems to be listed. Anyway, I think I will give it a two week minimum try, and see what happens. I guess I can't go wrong, as increasing vegetables and fruits can't be bad, as long as they are "acceptable." :) Thanks for your help...I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again soon!
