Exclamation All for One Thursday DAILY Beach 8/21

We are in this together, here for each other and here to support, give tips, ideas and comfort........

NOW! For a little bit of insight into THINGS! MY point of view.

Some of you have been a little down and out.

PLEASE tell yourselves this:

Health is our goal weight loss is our gift.

You don't HAVE to follow the SBD to a tee. If it isn't working for you yet, or you are faltering, try some of these helpful hints:

Throw out the word diet and replace it with health. You aren't on a diet, you are eating healthy and making healthy decisions.
You choose NOT to eat something.
You are in control.
You can eat less, use smaller portions and learn to leave at least one bite on your plate.
You can say NO.
You can have things, just use the 3 bite rule.
You can become a lable reader.
You can plan ahead, keep a food/feeling journal.
You can eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks.
You can do this for yourself.
You can motivate yourself. How? Make a goal giver. What do you want by the time you lose 10 pounds? Reward yourself.
Remember the 3-4 gm of sugar rule.
Try and NOT be consumed by the Metal Monster.
Weigh only one day per week at the same time, same EVERYTHING.
You can see the #, write it down, and move on.

I think THE most important thing is to go for this with an attitude of health. Eating right and if the SBD doesn't "allow" you what you want, alter it. No one ever said you can't

Use YOUR best judgement.
You have to do what will keep you on track, happy and right with your own eating plan.

There is always help here for you.
No one will judge what you do.

This is a new experience, a new way of life and a new way of eating.

Make the most of it.

Take what you like and leave the rest.

Be happy, be creative, and make this what you want. Whether it be following the SBD or a modified version.

The goal is to eat better and to be fit.

You have to be happy with yourself and your decisions. Don't let others tell you what and how to do something.

Read, read and then put into action what you read.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I won 3 games yesterday at cards
My mom especially and the other 3 ladies LOVED the Pistachio Chicken Salad. It was a big hit and they asked for the Avocado dressing recipe as well.
Such a happy camper I am.
All for One and One for ALL is a great way to think.
Have a grand day at the Beach or by the Beach.
The choice is YOURS.
Good Morning
I have been really busy the past couple of days with no time to post.
However, I'm still here plugging along. Have had no more weight loss, but I'm happy with what has gone so far.
Thinking about maybe staying on Phase 1 for another week, but will see what happens when Monday comes.
Have a good day all
Marcie, are you living inside my head?? You so often post about things that I'm thinking about, I wonder if you are reading my mind.....except you are able to put it into words better that I could! Especially with today's message...I have stopped using the "D" word....this is definitely my new Way Of Life, and I'm doing it for my health first, with weight loss as a happy side effect!
I'm glad you had a nice time at cards yesterday, and that your lunch was such a hit! Your pistachio chicken salad sounds great.
ZuzeQ, glad to hear you're hanging in there. If you're not seeing the scale more, take a couple of minutes and look at the link I posted in another thread this morning about scale watching. This article really helped me put some things in perspective.
Well it looks like we'll have some relief from our hot weather today. The high temp is only going to be around 78 degrees, so I'm doing a happy dance! Now I should be able to start walking outside again (I don't do well with HOT).
Have a great day at the beach ladies!
Morning All
The fact that Marcie so often reads all our minds just goes to show that we are all in this together. We are more alike in our similarities then our differences.
thanks alot 2dog the heat is headed our way. hehehe (only kidding) Today & tomorrow is forecasted to be a scorcher here in Connecticut.
I have the watp tapes, now all I have to do is use them...yuck I hate exercise. I often feel that I am wasting my time and I should be doing some kind of useful household chore. Gonna have to change that way of thinking. Maybe I will try setting the alarm just a little bit earlier. I am not a waste of time!
Have a sunshine day!
Good morning everyone!!!
You are so right Marcie, we are in control of what we put in our mouths and being healthy is the payoff ... (so why didn't I control that piece of birthday cake last night???)
Not going to weight myself til Sunday, even though I am going out for my birthday celebration Saturday night (well, maybe I'll skip weighing this week ...)
Sflake, I'm in Rhode Island and you're right, it is supposed to be miserable. Thought for a minute about calling in sick to work to make it a long weekend, which I never, never do but when I heard the weather report I figured I'd be better off at work where its cool!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!
Marcie, where do you get all this good stuff? Are you snooping in our brains? Are you the Weightloss Support Angel? If so, could you please talk to the Whoosh Fairy? I need a whoosh as I'm out of my diuretic and retaining water in this heat. Ah well!
I am having a hard time getting my rear in gear these days but still am up and about before 6. Methinks I'd better get back to taking my supplements regularly the same way I take my diabetic meds. Duh!
Yesterday went well with Hersh and The Press. She behaved like the North American Champion that she is. I think she was expecting ribbons or something as she kept going into show position when the camera was pointed! I really didn't think starting with Thera-Paws would cause all this fuss! I admit I was nervous and felt rather strange by 2 PM. Then I realized I'd skipped breakfast and lunch. Another Duh! Who says we get smarter as we get older?
Today is going to be hot again but I will NOT turn on the AC! I plan to make yet more pickles and tackle some of the baking for the weekend.
Hershey and I are off for our walk to get the newspaper.
Bravo, Marcie! Or as I should say, Brava! You are dead on, as usual. I just yesterday I wrote in my journal about why this time is different...that my attitudes have changed, and not just my behavior. Too bad there isn't a way to measure that!
ZuzeQ-glad to hear you're still with us! Hang in there, but don't overdo phase 1...you'll get sick of it eventually!
Twodog-thanks for the post about the scale. I have been doing an experiment of sorts this past week, and weighing myself morning and night to see what the difference is. The most dramatic difference was 4 1/2 pounds! In one day! Over the course of the week my weight has flucuated a total of 7 pounds!If that doesn't convince us that the scale doesn't tell the whole story nothing will!
So I continue to focus on NSV's (Non Scale Victories). This morning some guy in a work truck (buff, tan, sunglasses type) blew me a kiss! I laughed, but it felt good! And I took my uniform belt in a notch yesterday...that tells me I am doing all the right things.
Sflake-I think you will like the WATP tapes. I am not an exerciser lover, but I am becoming one! I enjoy the time I spend exercising, but even more I enjoy how it makes me feel the rest of the time! Right now I alternate: 2 mile and weights one day, 3 mile and beginner abs the next.
Nikki-Birthdays are so much fun, aren't they? I hope you have as nice of a birthday as I did! I have bounced back from my celebratory food just fine...I'm sure you will, too!
Ruth-so glad Hershey came through like the champ she is! We think you're a champ too, by the way!
I have to get to bed...2nd grade parents meeting tonight, plus I didn't get to exercise at work last night so absolutely have to do it when I get up. So off to bed for me!
Take care and try and stay cool! It's going to be a scorcher here in Ohio, too!
Good Morning to all! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing on the beach! Today is day 4 for me and I'm moving right along! I love this plan! I promised myself not to weigh until I have been on the program for a week but this morning I couldn't resist! I felt sooooooo good when I got up and I just felt like I had lost a few pounds. 3 pounds gone! That's a pound a day, I am sooo excited! I know not to expect this kind of a loss after I move to phase 2 but that's ok. The point remains that I have lost, something I have never been able to do, and I'm weel on my way to a happier, healthier me!
Have a great day all!!!!!
Greetings Beachsters!!!!
Welcome Nursebetty- Hope you find the SBD plan successful. Post messages often..you will be surprised at how much the support really helps.
whimsey- Have a great visit this weekend. I hope things go well at the doctor...and I hope they do more than stare at your finger...!!!!!
diDi- stay pumped and you will breeze through Phase 1!!!!
Hippiechic- Congrats on the 3 pounds. Doesn't it feel good?
Franny- thanks for the reminder about scale fluctuations...I ALWAYS let this get the best of me...Also congrats on the non scale victory air blown kiss from the guy in the truck!!Whoo Hoo!!
Ruth- I feel you on the bloat...wish some Lasix fairy would take it away ( I need to refill my prescription today, too!).
Nikki- My advice is to skip weighing this week. You don't want to get yourself frustrated and weight can fluctuate majorly. Have a good birthday celebration!!!!
SFlake-Good luck with the tapes...A journey of a 2 mile walk, begins with a single step!!!! HAHA
Twodogmom- I like what you said about weight loss being a happy side effect and not just a means to an end!!!!
ZuzeQ- Keep plugging along!!!
Work has been quite busy this week and I did not get a chance to post yesterday. Still plugging away at Phase 2.. Weight loss has been very SLOW...but that is not the point...It's just a happy side effect!!!!! Hope you all have a great day. Worked out with the trainer this A.M. and it hurts to type!!!! That is pitiful!!!!
Greetings Beach Chicks & Welcome, Nurse Betty!
We've got super hot weather here as well and I AM using the a/c.
I'm going back to work on Sept. 16th - went to sign my contract and have my medical yesterday - my official weight is 80 kilos - which is a lot for some, but real good for me! Esp when I think about what my heaviest weight was.
Feeling good about me and SBD!
Thanks for the positive morning starts Marcie you do, indeed, set us all up for our dday!
Have a great day on the Beach, Chicks! I'll check back in with y'all later.
Lady Windsong: Once again thank you so much for being right there with just the right words to keep us going. Your insight makes this board a special place, plus all the other support from you long time members.
Ruthxxx: Where is Delta, Canada? You have mentioned Kingston, and I used to frequent that lovely city, when we were living up north.
Frannie: congrats on the whistle. Doest that just make your day?
It is sort of like realizing that when you go shopping for a new dress you don't havae to go to the Fat Clothes Dept. That was such a high for me.
Hello all, and welcome to all the new gals. You will love this new healthy way of life, and and all its benefits. Ann
