Hi everyone,

Oh my gosh, I am so embarassed. It has been so long since I have been here. I mean like a real long time, maybe a year, I don't know. And ofcourse during that time I have unhappily gained back 30lbs, Yikes, I am back up to 184.5! I am not quite sure I am ready to get back on track either but I guess coming back here is a first step. I won't be here often but I will do my best to be here when I can. I always think of you guys and have not forgotten what the owls have done for me in the past.

Love
Brenda

Hi Candice,

I looked through some of the recent threads and saw that you have really kept the thread going, great job! You are a true Night Owl. Hopefully some of the old night owls will be lurking and pop in to say hi.

I am lurking...I "fly" by every so often and I am embarassed as well that I have not landed long enough to say HELLO!

I have lost pretty well this past year but I have been at a standstill the last few months. On the bright side...I am pretty good at maintenance. I am hoping that the upcoming FLEX Plan will help get me going until the holidays when I plan to go back to Maintenamce until the first of the year!

Here's hoping that some more of the nightowls will stop by.

Thanks Candace for keeping the owls going!!

I had my mammo yesterday and then went shopping...got two new pair of Birkies, the garden clogs and some sandels and then of to Kohl's for their big sale and spent way too much! Then off to Kroger for some food and got home at 2 AM and it took me untill 4Am to unload and put everything away. Needless to say I am exhasted now! Took a sandwich and snacks with me so ok on the food and water.

Trip is sept 5th and reservations are made but they still will not guarentee them and I taked with the hotle directly.

I am still not on program but trying to make better choices lately. I won't be here til next week probably. Wednesday night I am going to a concert, Aerosmith, Kiss and Saliva, then on Friday Mike, Mikey, and the girls and I are going camping up in New Hampshire, by Hampton Beach, it should be fun. It will only be our second time in the new camper so we are looking forward to it.

Emmy and Candice so nice to see you, it has been a long time, where is PJ?

corningKat, welcome to the owls, I am looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Nightowls!!! It is good to see some movement in the ole "nest"

What kind of camper did you get Bren? We love to camp and go every weekend. I was supposed to be off and go this week but I ended up having to work :( Long story.... It sounds like a nice place to go camping...ours is on a seasonal site on a lake in Southwest VA.

Hi and welcome KATHY!! I hope everything went well with your weigh in...looking forward to your report of Weigh in. Are you using the same name as when you used to post here 2 years ago?

CANDACE...Where are you going for your vacation? Sounds like you have some nice vegetanles. Were your flowers gorgeous this summer or did they get too wet?

Well I've got a busy day tomorrow but I will try and chech in more frequently.

That is an awesome loss kathy....GOOD JOB!!!

Yes ..it used to be very active in here...but I guess life got in the way and a lot of nightowls stopped being up so late at night. WHen I first got online I was staying up until 2 am here and there. Well eventually I realized I couldn't maintain that pace, but I am usually around in the evening until 11 or 12 but not usually later than that!

Anyone heard from PJ? I know from lurking that she has had a lot of changes in her life...if you are lurking PJ please stop by!!

I got the new FLEX point info at my meeting tonight and I think I will like it and that it will help motivate me into some more weight loss!! I maintained tonight and after the week I have had and TOM ...I will take it!!

Hi Candace and BRen....see y'all soon

corningkat
08-29-2003, 01:04 AM
hoo! hooo! is there any nite owls around??!! (lol...bad humor)

emmy- i work nites so that is why i am here so late. i usually hit the hay between 2 - 3 am. i absolutely love the new flexpoints thing. i find it is so much easier to stick to. it is much more simplified. maintaining is wonderful if you've had a bad week. i hope you next week is better for you.:)

good nite owls!

how long have you been on the flex points? We just got it this week and my meeting is on Thursday...so I just got it. I am glad to hear that you like it

corningkat
08-29-2003, 06:32 PM
hey there! i have been on flexpoints for a week now. instead of a range you now have a target point and 35 flexpoints to use for the week. whatever your low range was, your set point is 2 above that. ex. mine was 24-29, my set point is 26. use the 35 lexpoints as you wish instead of banking. i choose to break it up thru the week. i give my self up to 5 per day. the journals are different. they kind of remind me of a checkbook. you write your target point and subtract as you go. then there's a spot to check off your flex points as you use them. i really don't know anything about maintainence. sorry!!

hope everyone has a good weekend!

Thanks Kathy......I have been trying to find info on the web about this and your info helps alot:)

Got
ds some cookies baked and DH wanted some for his dad and brother that is in the
alcohol rehab unit and got my zucchini shredded and frozen , ran out of flour so I couldn't make
my bread! Mopped the dogs room, gave her a massage and her medicine, brushed the cats
and have laundery in and made a zucchini and tomato casserole, and cut up more cucumbers to
put in vinegar. You think I would be tired but now I'm anxious...getting ready for our trip to
Iowa on Friday too. Just an average day here..sounds like you huh! Oh and I cleaned my
kitchen after the cookies and then decided to do the garden produce and made a mess again so
it got cleaned twice!

Ate way too many cookies.....but do not htink it was 35 pts worth ;)

WOW! It was so nice to fly by and see the nest is starting to get active again!!

Candice that recipe sounds good...but with the sour cream is it really only 1 pt per serving?

I went back to WW and I love the new flex point system...I lost 5.2 lbs my first week and this wednesday I get weighed again! I think it is much less complicated now. I aim for my target points and if I need the flex points I use them. Some days I do and some I don't even make my target points!

Well I have to get the boy in the bath so I will fly by again soon and see how is still around!

Hi my name is Raff and I'm new to this thread. I usually post on another but I'm looking for another place where I can talk of WW.

I'll give you a little history of myself:

I'm 32. Married with no children and have a loving, caring husband (2nd time's a charm  ) I never had a weight problem until I was 13. It started with 5lbs and then next year it was ten. By the time I was 18 I was 35lbs overweight. At 20 I decided to lose weight, using Nutrisystem. I got down to 163 which was ideal for my height and frame. Well since then I have gained and loss and yo-yo'd till the cows came home.

Last year I joined OA and it helps me deal with the emotional side of my eating.

I started WW on June 26 and have lost 25lbs. Yipee! I just love WW. I do it online rather than go to meetings. I feel there are more resources online.

Well I hope to talk to you all soon!

Take care

hello nightowls! glad to see some people stopping by. we might ge this nest hoppin' yet.

i had a fun weekend but i didn't do well at all as far as points go. i wasn't home much. spent most of the weekend at the lake. i met a nice guy there. he's going to call this week. yahoooo!! to make a short story, i recently broke up again and for good this time with someone. got tired of the baloney(using a nice word).
anyhoo, that is why i was gone all weekend. what we do for love...lol tomorrow is another day of good choices to make.

raff- congrats on the 25 lbs and welcome to the nest!! i am 38, not married and no children either.

candicej- glad i could help a little bit. i'm not much of an expert. lol

michellek- congrats on your 5.2 lbs gone forever!! we are on the same schedule. my meetings are wednesday mornings and this will also be my 2nd weigh-in on program. i don't think i ever have a day that i don't make my target and then use some flex points. i guess that will change in time.

i hope everyone had a good week!

Evening All! I started classes today or should I say class. I'm taking a math class at the college. I've been enrolled since 2000 and I take a class at a time, then a break, and go back. I figure I should get my degree maybe, when I'm 55. ;)

I can't wait to try the White Gazpacho. How do you eat it? On bread or crackers?

Kathy - Good luck on the fresh start. I'll send you some positive vibes. :goodvibes As for me, I haven't eaten a meal at home since Sat and my weighin is this coming Sun. That give me 3 days to get my s*hit together. Think I can do it?

Michelle - I'm glad you like the new Flex Points. I'm still trying to get used to it. It's not complicated, just new and I'm a creature of habit.

Well running off. Take care

hoot hoot from my limb to your limb!!

not too bad of a day today. my fresh start is going well so far. i did a 40 min. moderate walk today so i am whipped. i do a lot of walking at work. i actually wore a pedometer for 2 weeks. from the time i got up till bedtime my average was 12,000-14,000 steps per day(that included exercise) i guess no one can say i don't incorporate exercise into my daily routines.

raff--i feel those vibes and i know you can get you s%^* together for sunday. i did the same thing, and it didn't turn out unbearable...lol

candicej- have a good time

nite!

Hi There "NightOwls"

Welcome Raff ..always good to see new owls!!!

Candace...I guess you are on your trip ..Hope it goes well!

Kathy..sorry the guy hasn't called yet. Do you have his number? Maybe he has misplaced yours? Just a thought. I lose things all teh time :)

Just a little about me....I am 46 married with 3 boys...15, 10 and 6! they keep me busy! We have a camper at a lake 3 hours from home but it is cooler and in the mountains and we absolutely LOVE it. It is a little cool here today tho.....which is why I am online:)

Michelle...good to see you too!! I hated to see the nightowls die out...become "extinct" so I hope more will come back and more often. Candace...Bless her heart has really kept things going.

Well I haven't had but one point and that was for cofeee so I better fix me something good and HEALTHY!!

See ya later

I weighed in on Sunday and gained 3lbs. I'm not a happy camper. I spoke to my sponsor and she feels that it could be one of a few things:

a. I had a 5lb loss last week and it was too rapid.
b. I'm PMSing.
c. Because I did a lot of eating out last week.

So this week I'm going to be tip-top. Wish me luck.

How's everyone else doing? How do you like the new Flex System? I think they should have kept it the way it was. I liked the fact that I had a range everyday.

Take care,
Raff

Hi everyone,

I am back finally, I am just so busy and I really apologize.

Kathy, I saw ZZ Top years ago and it was one of my very favorite concerts, how was it for you? Way to go on the loss, that is awesome. Yippee!!

Hi Emmy, Ok it'ss a bit of a long story but I will make it as short as possible, we had an old 74 pop-up, we went to the white mountains the week of July 4th and had to bungy cord the roof on because it came unattached, 2 black bears attacked a campsite about 30 feet from us because people left out garbage with old food in it, when we got back home we started looking around and we ended up buying a brand new 2003 hard-top bunkhouse camper. It is a super-lite Flagstaff, it sleeps 8, bunk twin beds, private master bedroom with queen bed, a dinette that folds out to a double and a couch that folds out to a double. It has all the bells and whistles, microwave, range, double sink, AC, toilet, shower, heated pads underneath for winter camping, attachable outside gas grill. The camper itself is 29 feet long, from back to hitch it is 30.9 feet long, we are towing with a half ton pick-up and with the truck we are 53 feet long, I towed it home on our last trip, first time towing anything but I did allright and it was fun. oh yeah the awning is 20 feet by 8 feet.

Hi Raff, and welcome to the nest, things seems to be hopping around here a bit more lately. I am actually momma owl and started the night owls many years ago, I look forward to getting to know you.

Candice, as usual so glad to see you in the nest, you are a real trooper or should I say owler, lol!! You hung in there while the rest of us disappeared, thanks a bunch.

Love

hey nite owls! what a weekend! the concert was great. i had a really good time. then i got talked into spending the rest of the weekend at my friend's place on the lake. i did'nt get home till late sunday. there went my points counting AGAIN for the weekend. i hope i didn't do too much damage.

brenda- this was my 3rd time seeing zztop. they were my very first concert in 1979 when i was 14 so i guess it's kind of an anniversary thing to see then when they're in town.

raff-good luck on being tip-top. i'm in the same boat. i am trying to stick to the target till wednesday weigh-in.

have a great week everyone!!

The trip was hard to make for DH and I both and I am still not recovered, lots of pain and anxiety has set in and so much to do now that we are home:eek:

The "White Coat Ceremony" was wonderful and so moving..boy doctors have a lot to learn!!!!!!!! My son is finding anatomy very challenging and loves his bio-chem classes! The tour of my sons apt., campus and town was really fun and we got just a tad of shopping in. I walked the tredmill at the hotel and made good food choices and had tons of healthy snacks with us. I cried when we had to say good bye..the first time one of my kids is that far from home. He does have a very nice roomate and that helps. Forgot to take his cookies so I mailed them today!

I will post pictures when I get them developed.

Bren..wow that camper sounds wonderful!

KAT..boy are you ever active! That is alot of steps!!!!!!! Hoot Hoot to you too!

Emmy..wow you were 40 when you had your last kid...was that hard?

raff..all those things could cause a weight gain!

We need to hear from PJ:D

hey nite owls!! i had a good weigh in, down 2lbs. i guess i did good damage control from the weekend or maybe i didn't do as bad as i thought. i did a lot of dancin' and hollerin" at that concert so maybe i worked it all off. lol

candicej- sounds like you had an interesting time. it will take time for you to get used to the little owl leaving the tree nest.

have a hoot of a thursday!

Hoot Hoot kathy!:D Good job on your loss!

Well, my son was here but I way over did...ended up cleaning for 8 hrs:eek: , he did lift most the heavy stuff, so much to put back into place after they got the bed in. ( I was sorting through some of the stuff my son that went off to school left and shredding his bills and stuff.) It got to where my hips were saying no more stairs! My cleaning help comes on Monday but I had the sweeper out for the bedroom so I did everything else. I might have her help me tackle the basement when she comes before it gets to cold to work down there. Then there is the outside stuff, I'm tired of looking at the worn out plants!

My eating is going well and I'm sure all this not sleeping is burning calories too! Any of you know what it means when you get really irritable when you cut back on carbs. I am told that I have been that way!!!!!!!:D Snapping at everyone I guess! I checked my food journal and yes I'm short on carbs! (good for the waist line but not for me!) Just call me snippy ;)

Just a spot of rain here so far. I made DH's cake and am putting chicken breasts in the crock pot..trying to make it simple.

You won't believe this but a girl :yikes: (drunk )was going 90 mPH (on a resisedential busy street at 4AM and hit a parked car by my sons house and flew into some wood buildings and hit his car in the driveway, just missing his bedroom and tore up his front yard...she has no insurance either! Hope they throw her in jail!

Got into some more cookies I purchased for DH at the craft mall..homemade! but still ok pts wise if I don't each much more!

Hi Everyone,

I am back from my weekend in Hartford, Conn. We stayed at the Hilton and it was very nice. My sister had a conference there so everything was free for us. It was nice to get away but it was my first weekend away from Mike since the beginning of April when we first started dating, and surprise, we met online! My first time ever doing something like that, we first made contact on February 25th

Kathy, congrats on the 2lb loss, that is truly wonderful, keep up the good work. I am just starting to get back on track and I should be around much more now. I just needed to get it together again.

Hi Candice,

Sounds like you are doing well on Program. I am sorry what happened at your son's house, thank god she missed the house. I have a friend who's son was drag racing and went off the road, hit trees, went flying through the windshield and they found him about 20 feet away from the car wrapped around a tree. He is not doing well, serious head trauma. He is finally off life support after 3 weeks and breathing on his own but still not very responsive.

Well I am going to surf the boards, I will talk to you all later.

Brenda

Candicej

Brenda, aren't you daring meeting someone online! My son has tired that but it never works out! The Hilton, sounds wonderful:) Hope yur friends son recovers but it does not sound good:(

That girl that hit my sons cars walked away with just her teeth knocked out, the police said she is lucky to be alive! The car was totalled and the one on the street she hit before going into my sons yard was totalled!

Well, I made it through the BD with 24 pts for the day! Eating today has been really good too, fruit, a salad, and WW meal, small piece of cake, cottage cheese and another piece of fruit and some v-8 and a cookie and some pts left for my Kashi later!

Boxed up the rest of my sons cookies sto send out Monday..so no more temptation!

Hello All! I had a good week with a 5lbs loss. I'm on top of the world. Sure beats those 1-2lb losses. I know, I know, that's the healthier way. But I'm in a rush!

Candice - I haven't tried the soup yet. I'm waiting till my next grocery shopping. Can't wait to try it. I'm sorry to hear about your son's car, but happy to hear that he wasn't hurt. The woman will probably get off if it's her first offense. I don't know what State you're from but that's how it works in NYC.

Brenda - Glad to hear you had a nice time in CT. Hilton hotels are very beautiful. We have one and it has a website that shows all the difference party rooms and gardens. It's beautiful. Did you get to do any sightseeing? I love New England. I usually go to Mass. and Rhode Island.

Kathy - Congrats on the loss!:bravo:

Brenda - The camper sounds wonderful. Enjoy! That's the way to vacation. I would love to buy an RV but don't I don't have the "Benjamins" to get one.

Well I have to run off. I have and early class in the morning.

Take care,

hey nite owls! just got back from the lake. i don't usually stay this late on sunday, but i just didn't feel like coming home to an empty house. had a fun weekend, but as usual didn't eat well and will have to make up for it.

raff-great job on the 5 lbs gone forever!!:D

candicej- something similar happened in front of my house in august. a drunk kid plowed into the cars parked on the street. i have a driveway thank god. my boyfriend (at the time) had his out there and it got scraped. the kid was drunker than a skunk. thank god noone was hurt. i had just come home like 15mins earlier. kind of scary. he said he only had 3 beers but he blew a 3.something which is a heck of a lot more than 3. he totalled the neighbor's van and now they are screwed because they owed more than it was worth and can't get anyone to pay the difference. they've been to 4 lawyers and nothing can be done. so much for the fairness in that.

brenda- i live in ny state now but i am originally from CT. hartford is nice. did you get any shopping in?? that online thing is too scary for me but good luck to the both of you. i hope it works out
for you.

well, i am pooped so i'm going to hit the hay!
good nite!

Hi Everyone,

As for the online thing, it is the first time I have ever dared to do such a thing, a few bud lights helped me out. It was just after valentines day, feb 25th to be exact and I was feeling lonely so I did it. Mike has done it before but he signed up to that site the same day I did and we contacted eachother the first day. We e-mailed for awhile and then started exchanging phone numbers. I was putting on a benefit in his hometown for a friend with cancer on March 17 so it seemed like a good time and place to meet so he came and we talked a bit. We continued to e-mail and talk on the phone after that and we went out on our first date the day before Easter and we hit it off real well. He even took me to his parents for easter dinner on Easter. We have been together every weekend since then except for last weekend. We bought the camper together in July and have enjoyed camping together. We have talked about getting married next summer if things continue to progress like they have been but who knows what will happen I am just taking it one step at a time.

Hi Kathy, we walked around the mall a bit but didn't really buy anything, it was a pretty busy trip with the conference and all.

Hi Raff, I live in Mass and I lived in Maine up by Bar Harbor for quite a few years, it is nice around here most of the time. congrats on your 5# loss, that is truly awesome.

Candice, you won't believe it but 2 days after the doctor said there was no chance of recovery. This weekend he started responding can move both arms and wave, both legs and wiggle his toes, he is also answering questions by nodding and shaking his head. The doctors are dumbfounded and can't explain it. I just love it.

See Ya

Kathy..he does not say anything new the same old thing but he has put a new twist on it with the 7 steps. I watch his show all the time and do hope that he can get across to some of these people that are stuggleing. However..I could not ahve lsot my last 55 pounds if it was not for the WW plan, I needed something to follow to be more accountable to myself and keep track.

Hi Everyone,

Today I have been working on Kayleen's room, you know uncluttering and cleaning, she never seems to get along the edges and under things, lol!

Hi Kathy, I am not familiar with dr Phil's plan but it sounds like it may be interesting, I do know the name. As for Mike and I, I hope it works out too but right now there is not much there, just a strong friendship, we will see how it develops. He is a wonderful man and we really enjoy eachother's company so who knows.

Hi Candice, you have so much control with your points and eating, I think you are doing wonderful.

Anyone heard from Setina or PJ lately?

Love
Brenda

hey nite owls! weighed in today and stayed the same, so i am happy with that:)

brenda- funny we talked about online dating. the local newspaper had a huge article on it today and showed a lot of local matches.

raff- i haven't gotten too far into the book yet.

candicej- i agree it is a lot of the same stuff so far, i just think it has more of a psychilogical side to it. a more positive way of thinking. i love the new ww plan and thought that i might combine the two.

have a happy thursday!

Kathy..now that sounds like a good plan!

I'm trying to get our checking accounts staightend out, we just realized the bank has been charing us for a business account when both our accounts are personnel!!!!!!!!!!! They owe us money but not sure how that works. I get my hair trimmed today, doesn't really need it but when it stars shedding I go get it trimmed.

The dog id doing well but peed her bed twice this week and fell in her poop once..so she has had a few baths! OH she threw up too, so that is not a good sign.........but she is full of life again. so many ups and downs with her.
