Default ~*New Year, New You Challenge 2016*~

Welcome to the New Year, New You Challenge 2016!

Have you decided enough is enough and it's time to change your life to become a healthier, happier person? Did you kick all sorts of a$$ in 2015 and want to continue your reign of epicness into 2016? Did you do well leading up to Christmas, let yourself go a bit and want to lose some regain weight? Look no further, this challenge is for you! Let's start the new year the right way, by being mindful and treating our bodies with the respect they deserve. We can make 2016 the year that we reach our goals!

Here’s the aim of the game…lose the most percentage of body weight by the end of the challenge and feel healthier and happier than ever. If you come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, you win a shiny badge to put in your signature. You can also win a badge if you stay accountable and weigh in every week. Check out the badges:

Before Joining, Please Read ALL the Rules! Trust me you really need to!
  • You can join this challenge at any time up until the final 2 weeks of the challenge!!
  • -->Click here to access the spreadsheet used to document your weigh ins!<--
  • READ THIS. This is important. If you've skipped ahead and gone into the spreadsheet and tried to enter your information, you're probably thinking "huh, why is there an error message popping up?" That's because most of the sheet is locked. You need to post in the thread to say you want to join the challenge and I will input the data for you.
  • When posting in the thread to say you wish to join: provide the starting weight you are at now, your current weight and your goal weight. I will input your information into the spreadsheet. Optional: if you know the weight you were at in previous weeks then tell me what those weights were and I will input that information for you too - the more info the better!
  • This is also important! Week by week I will post a link to a submission form for you to enter your weight. I will update my signature with the link since I'm a regular poster across the threads just to make it easier for you to find. Please submit your weight on ANY DAY between Monday - Sunday. See below for more info on this.
  • Have a G-mail account and want to have access to the entire sheet without messing around with the form? Then PM me your g-mail email address and I will invite you to the spreadsheet so you have complete access. Please note I will only invite members who have been on 3FC for a while or who I can see post regularly.
  • Be sure to have your weekly weigh in on the spreadsheet by Sunday, because I make the charts on Monday. In the spreadsheet when the column is labelled "WK 1 8/31", that means the week BEGINS on the 31st August NOT the particular day you have to weigh in!
  • Check back in to the thread and I'll publish a weekly chart to show who's dominating over us all. Charts are Top 15 biggest losers only!
  • If you want to take a break from weighing in then right click the cell for that week and select "Insert Note" (definitely not a "comment" because these won't move with your username if new members join the spreadsheet!) and add your reason for not weighing in. If you have a week that you know you won't weigh in ahead of time - let me know and I'll insert the note for you.
  • If you don't weigh in for more than 2 weeks without a noted reason you will be moved to Standby. Come to the thread and opt back in if you want to re-enter the challenge.
Optional before and after measurements challenge! Read below:

That's it!* A huge part of this challenge is the community support, so please use this thread to talk to each other and update us on your progress. It’s less about just saying “today I weigh ___” and more about actually communicating with fellow sexy candy panda’s and talking about your life and all its ups and downs. Think of this thread more like a chat thread rather than just a place to post weights. We're here for you on your road to awesomeness!!

*FAQ
  • Can I change my Goal Weight once the challenge has begun? ~ Yes!
  • There's a - mark in my cell for a week, but I know what I weighed! Can I change it? ~ Yes! The more information you can put in the better. Let me know your missing weights and I'll input them myself.
  • My weight changed during the week but I already entered my weight, can I change it? ~ OF COURSE! Just submit your weight again using the same form, no problems.
  • The chat thread for my forum is dead...can I talk in a different thread? ~ Absolutely! The 20-something thread is the most active in these challenges, please feel free to drop by no matter how old you are. We honestly wouldn't know the difference even if you're not in your 20's!

Enter your starting weights now and the challenge begins January 4th 2016!!

Even though I am now THIRTY, and thus not a 20-something, I am joining on this thread! You're only as old as you feel, eh??

Hey everyone!

Well, welcome to a new challenge! Glad to see you all here . HDWD, absolutely you should post in here, this is your home no matter what age!

Continued from the Delicious for Christmas Thread:

Penny - I've played the first Dragon Age, skipped the second and now figuring out what happened inbetween during this one. Glad you liked it, I'm sure I will once I get used to all the menus! What other games do you like? I'd say I'm a pretty avid gamer

nonameslob - Glad you had a wonderful time with your family!! Congrats on your loss in the last challenge, even though I lost just 1 lb it's so much better than gaining 6 lbs like I did once this time of year. Don't worry about the size of the jacket, it's taken me a while to dress for my size currently and not too small or too big.

Looking forward to meeting some more mini goals (and maybe even my end goal?!) in 2016, after a somewhat successful second half of 2015.

I often start these challenges, but have never seen one through to the end, so that's my main aim this time around. Thanks for organising!

Hi! ^_^ I'm quite new here and never joined a challenge before, but I thought I might benefit from the accountability.
I entered my measurements in the optional spreadsheet, but could you clarify for me what is the difference between the stomach and the waist measurement ?
Thank you !

Love the badges Riestrella! Thanks so much for arranging them. It really helped with my motivation.

I came back from vacation 4lbs heavier, but am already down 1.2 lb so, this challenge is exactly what I need to get back on track!

I don't love being between pants sizes. Shirts are way more forgiving. My 13s are getting looser now (I use a belt or they sag pretty bad), but 11s are still small enough to not be comfortable. Hopefully I'm in those 11s by the end of the challenge!

On another topic, those badges are awesome, Riestrella! Very cool!

HDWD: Absolutely! Don't go anywhere!

Rie: I haven't played a ton of games (lacking hardware), but in the past I've enjoyed the Sims, one of the Elder Scrolls games (can't remember which right now), and I really love the Mass Effect series. And recently I like Don't Starve Together (I play with my friend sometimes).

Dayoneagain: Look how cool the Finisher badges are - that's some motivation to weigh in weekly right there!
Congrats on being under 14 stone!

Jasmin: Hi and welcome! These challenges are great!

Leopard: How was your vacation?
Also, excellent work getting right back on track! I admire that because I could never really do it.

dayoneagain - Welcome back, good luck with this challenge! You can make it to the end!

Jasmin - Welcome to the challenge! Stomach measurement is basically the measurement around your stomach, so around where your belly button is . I like to sit the tape just below my belly button since that's the biggest part of my stomach. It's not really an official form of measurement, but I like to see my belly shrink!

leopardspots - Glad you like them! Great to see your new badge in your signature. How was your vacation?

Penny - I'm a little confused, I thought sizes were always in multiples of two's? Oh man I LOVE the Mass Effect series!!

pegeye - Welcome to the challenge!

Ah yay! The New Year challenge! I really need this, though I probably won't be doing anything towards my goals until after New Year's Day

I turn 30 in December, and it is my goal to get to, or as close to, my goal weight as possible this year. So, about 20 pounds to go, which is less than two pounds a month! I "only" lost about 12 pounds this year, but I made so many other strides in my health. I also plan to run a 10K this year and *maybe* even do a small triathalon...maybe I will save that for 2017 instead lol

So we start with one challenge at a time...I think this challenge will likely have to focus a lot on diet as exercise is difficult for me this time of year, but regardless, bring it on! Looking forward to sharing with you all in this challenge and hoping I can be a bit more involved this time around.

Penny Thank you for welcoming me!

Riestrella Got it, thank you for the answer ! That's the widest part of my stomach, as well, so I'd definitely be curious how that one changes with time. ^_^

I'm in! Sorry I fell off posting at the end of the last challenge, and I didn't even get to weigh because our scale is out of batteries - poor excuses!

I'm going to try to get my starting weight in before I go to LA on vacation this Saturday, and then I'll be more active (hopefully) in the thread when I'm back at work from January 11th.

My boyfriend is gonna be away from home until nearly the end of the challenge, so I'm hoping with just me, I can be super accountable, in charge of ALL my meals, and be able to stick to a good exercise routine.

I have no idea if I've gained over the past week, but I imagine so. I'll try to weigh on Friday if I can pick up some batteries while I'm out tourist-ing with the family.

Hope everyone had lovely Christmases/Holiday celebrations, and I will be back!
