Where I live there is alot of open desert within a few miles of my house, and I was thinking of getting a mountain bike as an alternative exercise. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I weigh 300 lbs. I'm worried about finding a bike that is sturdy enough to hold my weight. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions? Thanks in advanced.

Hi, Finch. I started this journey at 297. I'm now at 279. I mentioned to my SO that I used to love biking when I was a teenager and he bought me a mountain bike at WalMart for about $67. I've been riding it and it's holding up just fine. The only change we made to it is a more comfortable seat!! The one that came with it simply wasn't big enough. I didn't want to make a large cash investment until I saw if I'm going to continue riding. I still love it since I got the new seat. When I wear this one out, I'll probably get another one like it because it works just fine.
Good luck and happy riding!

I don't have any advice, but I highly recommend bike riding. It's cheaper than a car and you lose weight. My sister rode her bike for the longest time when she didn't have a car. Her calf muscles got really big! (that's a good thing, btw)
