Default I am new, need to start dieting again

Hi, I am new to the board though I've read posts on it off and on for a while. I have been on a lot of diets in my life. Usual cycle. Gain, lose, gain, lose, gain. My first serious diet was weight watchers-back in 1982 when we had to eat 5 fish servings a week plus 1 liver serving. Tried weight watchers several times over the years in several iterations. Lost, gained, lost gained, got sick of meetings. In the past 10 years I've lost with various variations of low carb - Curves diet, South Beach diet, Ideal protein diet. I lost 65 pounds on the Ideal protein diet but it was really hard. It was easy to follow because of the limitations and not having to plan and cook but it was hard on me, especially my mind and emotions. It affected my brain and memory.

I've gained quite a bit back but I seem to have regained my good nature and brain function. So I ask myself. What diet should I try now?

I know what I don't want. I do not want to go to meetings or meet with a coach. I do not want to buy packaged food. I don't want to buy supplements (except I'll take a multi vitamin and calcium and I'm not averse to splenda and stevia). I don't want to track online. That is so tedious and micromanaging. I don't want to have to choke down large quantities of meat. I want to be able to eat oatmeal for breakfast and potatoes once in a while. I don't want to fuss over recording every bite. I don't want to count calories, carbs, fat grams or points. I've done all that and I'm sick of it. I know I do better if I track and found a simple portion control do it yourself physical written tracker where you just check off the portions.

So I think I will just try using the portion control tracker for starters where I can just check off the servings.
