Default My coach implies I cheat.

I'm tired of my coach implying I cheat!

Have any of you experienced this? It's discouraging, to say the very least. Needless to say, I am dreading tomorrow's weigh-in.

Before you ask...
YES, I follow IP protocol religiously.

When I average my weekly loss, it comes to 3.3lbs (that will change to under 3 pounds as of tomorrow, however). Yet, my coach claims that I "...must not be in ketosis" because I'm "losing less [per week than the average woman [in ketosis]. My Ketostix read otherwise.

W1: -5.5lbs
W2: -4.5lbs
W3: -0lbs (She outright accused me of cheating!)
W4: -5lbs
W5: -2lbs (This time, she implied I'm cheating.)
W6: -2lbs (Upon her 3rd implication, I told her about my Ketostix readings.)

Goodness, I dread tomorrow, as I've only lost a pound so far this week!

She is unqualified to be a coach. I would dump her asap and find a new coach. Your weight loss is quite fast actually, and well within IP guidelines. In fact, many people who are OP with IP do not lose nearly as fast unless they are a lot more overweight than you.

It is dangerous to spur people to lose too fast. And to create an atmosphere where you dread weighing in is unacceptable. You are working far too hard and paying too much $ to have a poor coach.

Keep up your great work! You are doing wonderfully!

Btw, have you considered alternative products with same-as-IP macros? You can save money & get great support here on 3FC, though having that person-to-person weigh in is great, IF the other person is supportive and informed.

Best of luck!

I agree 100% with what Mars said. You're losing weight and she accuses you of cheating?!

Find another clinic. Today. Any coach worth their salt will give you a free consultation/phone interview, make some calls and "interview" the coach before you sign up with them.

When I switched, my new clinic didn't charge me anything extra to move, they are happy to accept anyone because they truly want to help people get healthy. I hope you can find someone like that!

Thank you for your feedback! It's validating. My gut has been telling me that she is a poor coach, and my research tells me that I have been quite successful these last 6 weeks.

I will begin looking for another clinic in my area. Meanwhile...wish me luck tomorrow. If she is anything less than encouraging, I will tactfully call her on it.

Great plan! You're in charge here, and you have the results to back you up, not to mention the money.

She needs to take a refresher course at the very least. I can't help wondering if corporate IP incentivizes coaches with rewards for highest lbs lost or something.

Boo.
I'm sorry that happened.

I hope there is another clinic in your area, or another coach at the clinic.

IP average weekly losses for women is 2-3 lbs per week. Your loss rate is 3.33 per week which makes you FASTER than average. RUN from that coach!

By the way, don't use the ketostix... They are not designed to measure the kind of ketosis resulting from this eating plan. They are for Type 1 diabetics. After low carbing for a while, our bodies slow or stop excreting ketones into the urine. Also the amount of water we drink dilutes them. At some point they will stop registering ketosis even though you ARE in it.

As long as you are 100% on protocol, you ARE in ketosis. No stix (or validation from a coach) needed.

Let us know what she says tomorrow!

My first coach did the same. I had great loss the first 2 weeks (10 and 7) then 0 and -1 the next 2 weeks, the first time she accused me of cheating which I never did and the 2nd time she was telling me that I must be doing something wrong as she's never seen that.

At that point, I changed clinic cause she was discouraging me and making me feel like a failure and just the idea of having to go see her for a weigh in gave me severe anxiety.

Your weight loss average is actually excellent, their claim of 5-7lbs a week is so inaccurate.

I have Never heard IP claim 5-7. I have seen 4-6 for men but always 2-3 for women.

I'm on the "drop her" wagon. You don't need someone dogging you like that. You know you are doing right, you know that you are OP; take what she says with a grain of salt and keep on keeping on! You obviously are doing IP correctly with those numbers! That coach needs reminding that this journey is an individual one and while there is an average WL across the board, each person will have his or her own results. If you don't have the option of finding another coach/clinic and you stay with her AND she keeps up with the accusations, report her to corporate.

You've gotten great advice in this thread, and you have a great plan going forward! I'm amazed with the things she has been telling you. I would be THRILLED to have your average losses, and you are doing amazing! Don't let your "coach" get you down, you are on the right track.

This program is hard enough without having the coach on your side. I lost 110 pounds and it took me just over 1 year, so that's about 2# a week. I followed the plan 100%.
