GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!
Here's this weeks
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY there's 2 of them to read today:
Take one little step forward. Don't worry about whether it's perfect, or what other people will think, or why you didn't do it sooner. Just take that one little step. And notice how good, how right it feels.
Take that one little step forward, and then take another. Suddenly, momentum is on your side. Yes, new and difficult challenges will surely arise, now that you're moving forward. As you climb higher, the terrain will likely become steeper and more rugged.
Yet whatever you're able to reach, you're also able to handle. With each step forward, you build the strength and the confidence to take the next step.
Right now is the time to take that next little step forward, without hesitation, with no worries or complaints or regrets. And you'll quickly be so very thankful that you did.
-- Ralph Marston

NOW IS WHEN
The time to begin is now. The time to live is now. The day to make a difference is today. The moment of truth is this very one you have in front of you.
There is something you've been meaning to do, and now is the time to get going on it. The fact that it will take some time is even more reason to go ahead and begin. It does not matter how much or how little time you may seem to have. What truly matters is what you do with now.
And what you can do with now is to live, to love, to comfort and encourage and create, to work and to build, to express, to experience, to enjoy. The possibilities have no limit.
Now is everything you require and all you desire. And now is when you can truly live it.

Have a good week everyone.

Monday Morning---Hello all. It's a rough Monday morning. I could already use a nap. Not good.
Did manage to do the TM this morning for 31.5 minutes. It wasn't easy, but I'm glad I got on there. I have gained back some weight over the past month. So today I'm back to journaling and making wise choices . . . at least that's the plan.
Hope the rest of you had a great weekend and now are ready to really roll toward a good successful positive week.
Take care.

OK SO I FAILED THE WEEK END!!! The scale is up to 150 this morning which is 15 lbs above my low/goal weight. It's suppost to be going DOWN, NOT UP!!!
Well I'm starting over again. I am NOT defeated yet! I got up & went walking this morning. It took me 23 min to walk about a mile & 1/2 but I huffed & puffed all the way. Will try to stay op today.
Have a busy day. Chiropractor, then to visit dd & check out all the neat gifts she got for the baby shower which I did not get to see half of what she got. It was a great turn out & looks like she got lots of really nice things.
Got to go. Hope all have a really nice day & able to stay OP.

Hi Mary,
I know you can get down to your goal. You did it before.
I checked "not sure" on the poll because I don't know what my thyroid will do. I get my blood test this week to see how the new meds are doing. If I can depend on my thyroid, then maybe I'd feel more positive.
I took a week off from journaling and counting calories. Guess I'll start back today. I always do better when I count, but I surely hate to mess with those numbers.
Have a great day, y'all.

I picked not so sure also Gator. Mostly because I have been at or around this weight for over 18 months.
Monet.....I didn't do anything to the pattypan other than rinse it. I stuck a knife in it to let let out the steam. Zapped for five minutes and then just cut into bit sized pieces. I can't wait till next week to get some more. If I can find some seeds I might get my mom to try and grow some next year.
WTG Melf and Kim getting moving already this week. I woke early to walk but it's gonna have to wait till tonight. We've walked 16 times in the last 15 days and I mowed some wayyyyyy over grown grass for about an hour yesterday. You name it, it hurts...LOL And the scales are being just horrible. :)
Thank you Rosalie for starting our weekly board. You are a blessing.
Have a blessed and fantatic week all.

I'm back from vacation and couldn't wait to get here.
It's good to be home. Work was not as bad as I thought it would be when I got back. That is good. I couldn't wait to get to the board. I have really missed you gals. You will have to fill me in on anything I have missed.
Vacation was wonderful, but I ate waaay too much and drank waaay to much. I was actually looking forward to getting back on track today. The scale was horrible today. I'm the only person I know who goes on vacation and can't get into their clothes when they come home. We never learn. At least I know what to do now. I hate that I have to take those same pounds off again, but I guess I deserve it.
Starting with anew resolve today. Tired of messing around with this. I will get to goal soon. I am determined to get there before my 2 year anniversary in Oct. I got up at 5:30 to walk, but it was storming. Will have to fit it in later.
I will say we worked out every morning (except 1 and the gym was too crowded) while we were on vacation and we walked about 4-6 miles per day too. Now you think that would help. Gosh if we hadn't done that, I can't imagine how much that scale would be up. :yikes:
It's nice to be back where people speak English and I have someone other than DH to talk to. I'm sure he feels the same way. Even though I can't imagine why.
Need to get caught up here.
Have a great day. Be back later.
Jackie
PS I refuse to post stats until I get back to my low.

Oops! You can see I'm out of practice. I forgot to paste in my replies.
Kim, I'm glad to see you back on the board. Were you MIA or just on vacation. We're in the same boat on those added pounds. So nose to the grindstone today and forging ahead with determination.
Melf, you are not alone in that boat. Sounds like we are all starting anew today. We can do this!
Gator, hope those meds are working for you. Have a little confidence in yourself. I know you can get to goal.

Good Monday morning everyone:
I do have to say I am the most boring poster on here. I don't have an Avatar next to my name; maybe one of these days. I really think that weekends are bad for me; I always seem to overeat when I am home on the weekends. On Sunday, my 5-yr old and I baked up a storm. I made legal mini cheesecakes, Almond-oat squares, zucchini bread & pumpkin bars. The problem is, I tasted every single one of them as they were done. I felt like a stuffed hog. Also, during the week I am so busy, and am not sitting around home snacking.
Has anyone read the current Good Housekeeping (the one with Joan Lunden & her twins on the front)? They have an article in there about fad diets and really slam the SB plan. I am thinking about writing in and telling them that they are so un-educated that they should get their facts straight before printing an article like that. They basically said that sugar does not make you fat, and you have to watch your calories to lose weight. Do they not understand that your body is burning sugar and nothing else if that's all you eat???
So sorry to hear that Debbie ended up having car problems; what a way to end a vacation.:(
We are going to Durango, Colorado Thurs - Sun of this week. I hope I can stay on plan, but don't think I can turn down 1-2 of those roasted marshmallows. We hope to go fishing and horseback riding too. My husband took our daughter out yesterday and she bought a little Tweety fishing pole. She has never fished before; she is excited.
Thunder: Fantastic!!!! Congrats on those #'s dropping!!!
jecrites: Congratulations on your hubby's promotion; that's great!!
agape: Welcome back. Good luck getting back on plan; that's the hardest part.
Melf: Hope the baby shower went well. You'll be to goal again; try not to get discouraged.
BOB: Glad you are feeling better! Congrats on the 35# loss. That is a huge accomplishment and you should be very proud!
Teensy: Hope you have fun at the lake. WOW, 100#'s; time to celebrate big time!!
Country: Happy Anniversary; hope you had a nice dinner.
beach: Sorry to hear about your daughter's heartbreak. She'll recover; we always do. I remember those days all too well, and am not looking forward to going through them with my two daughters. Your heart breaks for them, but....as you said, it's a lesson we all learn, unfortunately.
heart: What a bargain shopper! I hope you and your hubby enjoyed your night alone together.
Monet: Who could forget you? Congrats on the 3 sugar-free days. You are on your way!
Jack: Welcome home. You'll be on plan in no time, and drop those extra pounds. Everyone I know gains weight on vacation, so don't feel bad.
My husband mentioned that the first Monday night football game is on tonight (I think). I love the fall & winter months! I live in Arizona, so you understand when I say that. BUT, this is the first year I will be on SB for the holiday season. How has everyone done on this SB way of life during that time of year? We usually do so much baking and stuff; I hope I can be good during the colder months. We will see. I guess if I have to splurge I will do it in moderation!
Take care, and have a great day!

Hello all!
I'm just back from the dentist where I had to get a broken tooth fixed. I broke it three weeks ago while on vacation--fortunately it never hurt, but I couldn't chew on that side of my mouth for three weeks. I thought it would have to have a crown, but he just redid the filling and smoothed the roough edges--$93.00 beats $600.00 any day!
Jackie--Glad to hear that you are back safely! You can join the rest of us getting back into the swing after vacation.
Crystle--You are so close--maybe there is something you can do to get the body shaken up again!
Gator--I hope you get a good report on your thyroid meds!
Mary--it sounds like you started the day off on the right track! Hang in there--you know we are here with you!
Kim--I need a nap too! Not a good sign is it? Actually I need to novacaine to wear off so I can have some coffee--no caffene this morning is my problem.
Marie--THanks for getting the board started. It looks like you need to get the whips out for some of us!
BOB--You gotta try the salad--I made it last night and it is yummy!!!!! I'm thinking about making some egg salad to have with it at lunch today. I posted the recipe on the recipe board under soups and salads.
Have a good OP day everyone!

Hi everyone,
Had a great weekend my mom cooked sunday dinner for the family and even cooked brown rice instead of white.;) I asked them did they like it and they actually did...lol. But I know it good its just getting the rest of the family on to the healty eating track.:T Thats all that matters is keeping the whole family eating right even if it involves a little sneaky replacing the bad white food with the great grains we eat on this WOE.....lol. I peeled and cut up 2 gallons of fresh yard peaches all by myself last nite and boy is my hand tired today.
Got to put them up so will be back later....Hugs to all!!!!!:grouphug:
Great motivational Rosalie....and so very very true!!!!!:balloons:

Hello everyone. Thank you all for the congrats on hubby's promotion.
There's not a whole lot going on around here today. I've got laundry going, and the kids are mad because I made them clean up some of their messes they have made since coming home.
I actually survived the weekend!!! I know I didn't eat near enough, but what I did eat was OP. Most of the time when I get up it takes me a while to get hungry. I've just got to get myself back into the swing of things, but at least when I do eat, I'm eating healthy, so that's a good thing. As for the exercise thing, I don't know how long it's been since I've done that. I just hate doing it. I've already told myself that when school starts back I'm getting on that TM no matter what. It's just easier to do with 2 of the 3 kids in school. I did try it with all 3 of them here, and it just doesn't work; they run around like chickens with their heads cut off and fight fight fight.
Well, that's all I have for right now, gotta get the cat pan changed and the floor around where it's sitting cleaned up. I'll talk to y'all later.

 Hi Everyone
Here is my contribution for Motivational Monday:
" It is in the small decisions you and I make every day that create our destiny."
Anthony Robbins
Well I'm back from the Dx and things looked fine. She wants to put me on an estrogen patch to try and control the migraines. We'll see if that works.
I had weigh in today for WW and I am 1 pound down so that is a total of 21 since I went back to being OP. I was losing 2 a week but I know that will slow down. The depressing thing about the DX is that 1 year ago I was 10 lbs less than I am now. Oh well. Next year I will be 30 pounds less than today
Monet: DH works for Publix too. He started a year ago when they came to Bham. :)
Jenn: I remember when the kids were younger. Anytime I tried to do something for myself they went crazy and fought too. You'll get back on track once some of them are in school. Congrats on the DH promotion.
Thunder: Glad you had a good weekend.
Fillise: Glad it was only a broken tooth and you didn't have to have the crown. Boy has dental work gotten expensive. My daughter had wisdom teeth removed and it was over $1000 and my son had his front teeth crushed and they had to be rebuilt to the tune of $600. Now he needs braces and I think we may have to wait a year until I build back up my "emergency fund". :?:
Pancho: You should send them an excerpt from last months Readers Digest that talked about the GI. It basically said that research is proving that you should eat low GI foods because the sugar elevates the blood sugar which in turn turns to fat. I think time and research will prove that eating low GI is the healthiest way of living. Have fun on your trip.
Jack:  Glad you had fun on your trip. You'll be back on track in no time.
Melf: Hang in there. You'll be back down in no time. :grouphug:
Quilter: :cb: Way to go on the treadmill. I didn't get a walk in yesterday because of rain. Hope I will get one in today but after going to the DX I'm not feeling so energetic. :( Maybe I'll rebound later.
Rosalie: Thanks for getting the board going and the motivational thoughts. I'm not sure I'm going to thank you for the veggie challenge though. That is the hardest thing for me to do because I don't love them. Let's see yesterday I had only 1 cup of carrots :o But the day before I did have about 2 cups of salad mix. I'm not doing too great, am I? :o I guess since you did the challenge I might do better.
Country  HI.
Gator: I hate the numbers and journaling too but I think it is the only way I will ever stay on track. So we can hate it together. Kind of like we do Tennessee when we play them (ssh hope BOB isn't paying attention) :D
Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone! I haven't posted anything since my first post so I thought I would say hi and ask another question. I wanted to know what the percentages are that you are supposed to eat of carbs, protein, and fat. I find that I do better if I have something to go by. I thought that I had read it in a previous post but I cannot find it now. I think that they are 30, 30 and 40 but I don't know which one goes to which number. Thanks for your help.

Hi Everyone
It's a bright sunny day here and pleasantly warm. Yesterday afternoon it rained so I couldn't do any lawn-bowling so in the evening I got out my WATP tape and did just one mile of that. Should be going out bowling this evening.
Quilter - Hope you got over the Monday morning blues and are feeling better this p.m. Good for you getting on the TM this morning.
Melf - Don't get discouraged. We know you can do this. You did it before and can do it again. I like the motto you have at the end of your posts. "No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending". This is so true and it is good to remember this when we slip up.
Gator - I used to hate journalling too but I have found that it has helped me to stay on track since I went back to using Fit-day.
CountryMom - Welcome to the club :( . I was hovering around the same weight for more than eighteen months until it started to slowly come off about 6-8 weeks ago. That's why I answered "somewhat confident". A few weeks ago I definitely would have answered "doubtful".
Jack-K - Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I'm sure those extra pounds will come off quickly once you are back op.
Pancho - You are certainly not a boring poster. You always have lots of interesting stuff to tell us. Did you ever post the recipes for those mini cheescakes? I would love to try them. I'm sure one or two marshmallows shouldn't cause you any problems as long as that's your only indiscretion. Hope your dd enjoys her first fishing trip.
Fillise - Glad you didn't need that crown.
Jecrites - Sounds like you get enough exercise chasing the kids around. Think of the peace you will have soon when they go back to school.
Beachfan - Sorry about the veggie challenge ;). I was just about to do the boards before going to bed last night and was trying to think of a challenge for this week and suddenly veggies came to mind. I thought it might be a good one beacause I know there are lots of people who just don't eat their veggies. For me it is easy as I love my veggies. I like salads but don't find them very satisfying so I always like to have veggies as well. They are what stop me feeling hungry when I am cutting down on those starchy carbs. So I am hoping it will get some of the veggie haters motivated to try some this week. Congrats on another pound gone. That's great that you have lost 21 pounds since returning to sb.
Daisy - I don't know if it gives percentages for carbs, proteins and fats in the SB book but I try to keep it at 40-30-30. Thats 40% of calories from carbs, 30% from each of protein and fats.
Well I have to get in the kitchen. I want to make a cole slaw for dinner tonite. I plan on doing pork kabobs on the grill.
Bye for now.
Marie.

No time for a post. just a few replies
Crystle, we were posting at the same time. Girl, we are both getting to goal this year. Believe it. I'm tired of fooling around with this stuff. Wow 15 out of 16 days is great plus that mowing counts plenty. I feel your pain on being sore. Starting working out on vacation wasn't too smart as I was sore for the whole week. I was tempted to get a massage just to work out the soreness. Plus I used a stair stepper which I have never used before. My knees hurt for the whole week.
Pancho, you can pick a ready-made avator off the board. I could probably find them, but someone who knows more about the board can probably tell you how much quicker. Weekends are my downfall too. I wish I could get through one and maybe I could get back on track. I'm gonna try real hard this weekend even though we have an all day bus trip planned on Sat to a race track. My hint for Monday night football games is hot wings. If you go out you can ususally order them. Or fix them at home too.
Fillise, glad you got that tooth fixed cheaply. What salad? Please reprint for me. I love new salads.
Thunder, glad to see you back with us. Yum, fresh peaches. Hard to get good ones in Ky.
Jecrites, Good for you surving the weekend. I wish I could say the same thing.
Beach, I love your attitude about weighing at the DX. You show them.
Rosalie, thanks for getting the board started. I thought Deb was back by now. Thanks for taking care of us.
Have a great evening.

Thanks Rosalie. I had it wrong I was doing 40% fat, 30% carbs and proteins. I guess after being on Atkins for 2 months it was hard to believe that the carbs was the highest. Now that I have it right I'm sure the pounds will start dropping again. Thanks again.

I won't go into detail about this weekend, just that I was horrible with eating and I'm puffy and up ALOT on the scales. My downfall is the weekends. Sometimes I do pretty good, and then sometimes I tell myself that just one illegal food is okay. But that one turns into 2 and 6 and so on. It's ridiculous. I'm going to reread the SB book and recommit myself. I'm in this for the long haul. I did exercise today. I've been doing my 2 mile tape every other day. Maybe I should try to do it everyday or 5 times a week. Veggies- hmmm so far I've eaten lettuce, a tomato, half a cucumber and a few slices of onion, and 1 celery stalk.

Hello Everyone! It's Monday evening and I made it through the entire work day without a nap. Yippee!!! Luckily our big mail campaign is going on now and we were stuffing envelopes all day. Nothing like a little boring work to wake you up for the day. My eating has been great today. I've journaled everything and so far, so good.
ROSALIE---Thanks for getting us started this week. You are super to take this on for the DD while she's elsewhere. How's your work going? Busy with the badminton still?
MELF---Girlfriend, I feel your pain. I got on the scale this morning and about fainted in disgust. I can't believe how fast the pounds come back on. So I'm trying my darnedest to get back into that mindset that gives me success. Good luck to you, my friend! Just focus on how great it felt for you when you were at your all-time low. Nothing could taste as good as that felt. Right?
GATOR---I'm sending good thoughts your way about your journaling efforts. I hope you have a great week! I know the journaling really helps me.
COUNTRY---That mowing will really help you get off the pounds. Keep it up. You are the super woman. I like to mow, but we don't have that big of a yard. So it's not too difficult. Sounds like you have muscles where you didn't even know you had them. Hope the aches and pains vanish quickly.
JACKK---Welcome back from vacation! You made me laugh when you said you like having somebody else to talk to other than DH. That's funny! I know sometimes when Paul and I spend the entire weekend together, he probably feels the same way. Glad you had fun. You were smart to get in your workouts. My workout this morning was pure torture because I was off of it for like 3 weeks. So you don't have to come home and get back into it and suffer through the first few days of getting reacquainted with the exercise regime. Your clothes will be loose before you know it. BTW, I've been MIA and on vacation. Spent almost a week in TN with my group of college girlfriends. Fabulous fun! Horrible eating, of course.
PANCHO---I think you should write to GH and give them an earful. That statement about sugar not making you fat is absurb. Even if you weren't a sugarbuster, you should know that sugar has a ton of calories and calories are what cause obesity. More calories going in, that calories being burned. Give them heck! Or better yet, educate them properly on SB. I'll bet they get a lot of negative feedback on that big mistake. Hey, if you want an avatar, you should be extra nice to COUNTRYMOM. She made my beautiful one for me. Let her know what your hobbies are and what you like. (Geesh, GOUNTRY, I hope you don't mind me volunteering this for you!!!)
FILLISE---Glad to hear you got good news from the dentist. Don't you hate spending money on things that you really can't see. Kind of like buying a water heater or something. I mean, you absolutely need it, but it's not very glamorous. Did you make it throught the day without a nap? I sure hope so.
BEACH---You are doing really great!!! 21 pounds!!! That is awesome!!! I hope the weather cooperates more for you for your walks. That's one thing I like about the TM. There's not much to look at, but at least I can't use weather as an excuse. Keep up the good work.
Okay, friends, I've got to get busy on some chores. Paul should be home any minute. So I want to get off the couch before he gets here. Not that he cares, of course. Just one of my self-inflicted guilt trips. I'm nervous about my weigh in at WW tomorrow night. I may not look because I know it's going to be bad. I've missed two weeks.
Take care.

I wanted to check in quickly, while the brown basmati rice is cooking and the shrimp are defrosting. Dinner tonight is shrimp stir fry. I am going to call my son in law to eat with us when it is ready. My daughter is still in NYC, and comes home tomorrow evening. He seems rather lonely! :)
I am still doing pretty well with the no sugar....Now if I can just remember to take my Metformin, I might be doing really well!
BEACH: Wow! Your hubby works for Publix? What department? It really is a great company to work for. My husband's uncle worked there for about 40 years and bought stock as much as he could....he retired a millionaire!
I need to go check on the dinner, so I hope I can get back on a bit later!

The son in law stayed and chatted awhile...and brought me a surprise to borrow...their 'town' for the Gamecube... I spent too much time playing the game tonight, but it sure was fun!
Gotta work at 7 in the morning.... will check in tomorrow afternoon, time willing!

hi everyone,
deb gave me a call this evening around 9pm to let me know she is alright and safely watching the mechanic work on her car! she asked me to post to let you all know it will be a few days before she can post and to thank marie for keeping the board in order. from what she said she got her family back to miami in the rental car and then had to drive it back to pick up her van which was not fixed yet! a true vehicle nightmare! she has a room just in case if not she may try to drive back when he gets it fixed. i have offered my home as a reststop for water and to empty hers if need be, but she says that once she is on her way she just wants to get home. she is in bunnell, florida which i believe is between st. augustine and daytona about 2 and1/2 hours from me. it was great to talk to her but i feel awful about her car troubles, never fear our fearless leader will be back on the board soon!
your friend,
chris

Evening All
Well I managed to get in a couple of games of lawn bowling this evening even though it did rain for a while.
This is what veggies I have had to-day:
1 cup mixed veggies (carrots, green peas in shell, broccoli, red pepper, cauliflower)
3/4 cup coleslaw
Mixed salad (lettuce, green onion, celery, cucumber, carrots) plus some salad that I had on a whole wheat bun with cream cheese at lunch time.
Jack-K - I don't know when Deb is due back in Miami but YellowRose reported a couple of days ago that she had car trouble on the way home and had to rent a car to take the kids home and she had to come back to pick up the car the next day. And she was a long way from home at the time - about a five hour drive. Anyway she did tell me that she would be very busy this week (before the car problems) as her cousin's wedding is on the 9th and she has a lot of family coming to town. So even when she is home we are not likely to see much of her this week.
Kim - Glad you were able to keep awake at work to-day :). I'm not working anymore. I 've been a lady of leisure since I retired at the end of February. Although I will be starting a temporary job soon. Have to go for some training for it next week. Yes I am still keeping up with the badminton. That's much more fun than exercising. And tomorrow I will be off to line dancing again. Are you still taking yoga classes?
Beachfan - I'm glad I got you working on the veggies. I think you've done well to-day.
Angehaley - That's a cute pic of you and baby. If you can lose 1-2 pounds a week that would be a good loss. If it comes off slowly you are more likely to keep it off. Some people do lose larger amounts at the beginning but this is more common with people who have a lot to lose. That four pounds that you are up is probably water weight due to TOM. Good for you getting on the TM. The first time is always the hardest.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Hello everyone!
Just popping in to say hello. I haven't forgotten about the board, I've just been really bad, my weight is horribly up, I don't feel good about myself, etc. etc. So, I've been avoiding everyone - including my friends here at home. I can't wait for school to start again so that I will be away from the kitchen.
I'm back up to 278. My max weight is 286. I had - at one point - gotten down to 228 with SB. I don't know what my problem is...I have no self control these days. I feel like such a failure. I guess I'm just not really "dealing" with my feelings of the last miscarriage that I had - I think I must just be "eating" all of my problems away. Also, I'm dreading facing my pregnant friends at school. I have 2 friends that are due at the same time that I was due. It will be so hard to watch them "grow." I'm so jealous. I'ts just not fair that I have had to suffer 6 miscarriages while some people just have so many babies! Thats when I question the man upstairs. Ok - enough "poor-meing!" Sorry - but I think that is my main problem right now!!
Me and hubby are going to Gulf Shores this week - leaving Thursday. We are celebrating our 10 yr anniversary. We start back at school next week - the 14th. I hope to get my act together. I went buy some size 24 pants - ugh! I just can't stand myself. I think I should be going to Miami to visit DEB instead of Gulf Shores. Oh well......hopefully I can have some good days once school starts and I'll be able to come to the board and feel good about it- not just to chat.
I've been a horrible example for new members....I feel like such a failure! HELP!
Bye for now! I'll check back tomorrow! I miss all of you!

FRUIT: Hey, don't beat your self up! Yes, you probably are eating emotionally, but since you know that now, and you know it doesn't lessen the pain, you can stop! I had three miscarriages, and I know how hard mine were, but I want to cry for the pain I know you are feeling. Hang in there. We all love you and enjoy it when you are here. Come hang out with us, and maybe we can help you get back on track. Enjoy the beach! You deserve a vacation! :)

Well.....it's 2:21 a.m. and I haven't even closed my eyes yet!
I just can't get relaxed enough to get to sleep! Don't know what the problem is, but I wish it would hurry and disapate! I cannot miss another day of work!
Sorry to hear that Deb is still on the road...I know she is fuming!
I'm going to give sleep another try...wish I had a bottle of bourbon! After seeing all that EARLY TIMES burning on TV tonight, that could be my problem!!! Hate to see good BOURBON go to waste!!!

Good Tuesday Morning to you all!!!!! Well, managed to hoist this big bod out of the bed today and onto the TM. Feels good to have that chore behind me. I'd sure appreciate some company on that exercise board. Any takers???
I ate really great yesterday. Stuck to my plan and didn't waver. And it paid off this morning because I was down two pounds on the scale. Tonight I have to weigh in at WW. I know I'll still be up but at least it won't be so big a number. Must get back to that new low number!!!
BOB---Sorry you're burning the midnight oil. That's so frustrating! I get that every so often and the next day is agony trying to stay awake enough to function. Hope you got a good night's sleep last night.
FRUIT---I'm so sad to learn of your struggles and sad times. Please know that we are hear to listen and encourage and will try to help you stay on the wagon. I've often thought about asking God the question of fertility when I meet him/her someday. It just doesn't seem fair that the mothers addicted to crack keep popping out babies when perfectly healthy (physical and mental) women struggle so. I've had many friends who went through miscarriages, and I've learned from them that it's very, very difficult to deal with. My prayers are with you.
ROSALIE---Wow, you are a woman of leisure. Sorry I missed your retirement. That's so great! I'm thrilled for you. I haven't taken yoga for a long time. They moved the location of the class and I haven't gone back because the new location is not really on my way home. Before I could come home and let Maddie go peepee and then take off for class. Now I'd have to go straight to class and leave Maddie crossing her legs. Not a nice thing to do. I do miss it. I've been thinking about getting out my tapes and doing an evening session on my own.
BKM---Thanks for the update on Deb. Sounds like this is a summer to remember. Poor woman will never want to leave Miami again!!!
MONET---Hey, girlfriend! How's it going??? You are a good Mommy-in-law to be so nice to the lonely boy. How's work??? How's that Treadmill?
That's it for this morning. I must go get dressed for work. Good luck to all of you today. Hang in there! Keep track of your food intake. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Well, I think I'm finally ready to get back to getting healthy. That 40th birthday is getting closer all the time!
I did a workout this morning--first time in 3 weeks. I feel really good. I'll have to keep reminding myself of how good I feel after a workout!
My eating has been terrible too. Too much white bread, pop and fries. I started back on the good food wagon last night. Even tho we had take out for dinner, I ate pretty good. We had Wendy's and I got the southwest chicken caesar salad. It was YUMMY! There is a bit of corn on it, but maybe only a teaspoon, so I didn't worry about it. I really have to start eating more fruits and veggies.
I did my weight and measurements yesterday, and I think that helped to give me a wake up call. I'm actually a couple pounds heavier than when I started on the board a couple of years ago:o So it's time to smarten up, eat properly and exercise nearly every day.
I'm going to try to post on the exercise board every day to keep me accountable, plus I print out a calander page and write all my workouts on it. When I see all the workouts written on it, it helps to keep me going too.
BIG HELLO to everyone!

Hey everyone.
I'm still doing good on my first WHOLE week back OP. I think what really helped was not getting anything sweet other than fruit and yogurt at the grocery store. Not to say that I don't have my moments when I "crave" those sweets, but I just remind myself that I really don't need it and that I'll be going to bed and really don't need that sugary stuff turning to more fat.
I've got to get the kids and myself ready to run to the school and get them enrolled/registered for this year. I really feel like just sitting around today and doing nothing, but I know myself, if I don't go on and get it done I'll end up not doing it and then being in a rush to get it done at the last minute.
I'm gonna go for now, but will be back to check in when I get home. Talk to y'all later.

The verdict is in....I DID NOT CLOSE MY EYES ALL NIGHT....after leaving my note here, I went back to bed and tried my best to go to sleep....then I turned on the TV and watched a movie on BRAVO....I was still awake when the FOX morning show came on at 5 a.m.!!!! I'm slowly falling over! I don't know if I can hold out the rest of the day or not...but I'll try!

My scales are so confused. They had me up again this morning. I am walking my tail off and I mean really walking. This morning was walk number 18 in 17 days. I even mowed for an hour this morning. I can live with not losing but gaining...agh. Oh well life goes on and I will keep trying but it is getting discouraging. My walking buds swears I look smaller...she is sweet...think I'll keep walking with her...LOL
Kim...WTG girlie!!! Two days in a row on the treadmill..it's gonna get easier and you are gonna start enjoying it again and not feeling so bushed. And please volunteer me anytime. I love working with my graphics.
Jack-K..morning. I'm glad you are confidient we will make it to goal. I truly thought I would make it to goal a long time ago.......the longer it's taking the less I feel like it's going to happen.
Jenn...WTG on your first week back OP.
Zanne...you can do it!
Missy....I am so sorry for all the pain that is hurting your heart. I only lost one baby but it's not something I will forget. Praying for you and your husband. And you can get that weight off again. Hang in there.
Rosalie...glad you were able to get out and enjoy your lawn bowling. I know you have probably said before but what exactly is lawn bowling. I feel silly asking but I'm not sure.
Chris...thanks for the update on Deb. And it's nice to see you posting. How are you doing?
Beach...yum! We had some of the same veggies yesterday. I had sauteed squash with onions...I also had sauteed okra and fresh tomatoes over all of it. I say sauteed but they are really stewed down to mush...I could eat them till I pop. Thank God they are almost gone. I ate on them for two days. I could go two more.
Ange...hope you got a good nights rest. I lost really fast at first and have been kinda stuck here for about a year and a half. There are others on the list who have been losing slow but steady since I joined last year. Hang in there.
Hey Monet! How did the shrimp turn out? I wouldn't mind having some shrimp, it's been a while.
Well it's time to get moving from this chair.
Have a super day.

Morning all!
Ick--rain again! I sure wish I could send this out to everyone in Texas and Arizona that needs this!
Thunder--I like brown rice better too! Have fun with those peaches--mmmm, my fave's!
Jecrites--sounds like you are busy! Thanks for reminding me about Belle's cat pan--better get to it! Ha!
Beach--Yeah it's amazing how much money you can shell out at the Dentist! That's why I love my dentist--he always tried to do the least extreme thing. He was ranting and raving about all the money people were paying him to whiten their teeth when I was in there for my last cleaning!
Daisey--Welcome! I'm sure your question has been answered by now, but just in case, we shoot for 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat.
Marie--Um, I'm coming to your house for dinner! ;-)
Jackie--I posted a recipe for an endive and avocado salad. It's on the recipe board under soups and salads and it is very tasty and completely OP!
Heart--You've got a good idea about rereading the book! That's what I always do when I need to recommit--in fact, I think I'll get my copy out!
Kim--No nap. The novacaine wore off about noon and I was able to get some caffiene and got through the rest of the day!
Monet--hmm, maybe I'm coming to YOUR house for dinner (hah--and I know where you live!)
Ange--One thing you should do is keep track of your measurements. One thing a lot of us find is that even when the scale sin't going down, the tape measure is!
Chris--thanks for the update on Deb! Also it's great to hear from you!
Missy--You know we love you and that sometimes you just have to deal with all the other issues in your life. You, my friend, are grieving and you deserve to grieve. For now, do what you need to and know that we are ALWAYS here for you--no matter what you weigh!
BOB--yeah, I shed a few tears over those flames on the tv myself! Could have been my supply for next year's juleups! Sob!
Veggies yesterday--
1 head of endive
1 green salad
And that was it--ICK!!!
Must do better today!
Have a great OP day everyone!

lots and lots of water
Supper-4 oz hamburger pattie with slice of cheese on top-1 1/2 cup of lettece, 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, 2 slices onion, 1 doz dill pickle slices and 3/4 cup raw carrots.
lots and lots of water.
In between meals I had fresh peaches and last nite got hungrey and had 1/2 grilled cheese sandwich or less the baby ate most of it.
I haven't lost another lb since Sunday...but this could be due to TOM. Does my menu look ok. Let me know and any ideas would be apprieated.
Fruit- Welcome back..so sorry to hear your not feeling well...I know how you feel about having misscarraiges..I had 3 and it does make you eat...We will pray for you. The good lord will take care of you. Just get back on the wagon and we are here for you.

Good morning everyone:
I was going to type in the article that I referred to out of GH, but don't have time this morning; I have to take my daughter to a little letters class she has this morning at the community center.
Fruits/veggies yesterday:
3 strawberries/handful of grapes
Lunch:
Large salad
Cherry tomatoes
celery
Dinner:
Taco salad - lettuce, tomatoes, onions, avocado
I will check in later, but wanted to get in some replies now, so there won't be so many when I jump back on later today.
Fillise: I cannot believe that your tooth didn't hurt you while away; thank goodness. With being on vacation, that would have been terrible.
jecrites: I know what you mean about exercise. I can pop in a video for my 5-year old, but can only exercise when the 1-year old is sleeping for long enough. She is a cat-napper too, so I never know when I start a workout if I'll finish or not.
Rosalie: I did post the cheesecake recipe. I think I can keep the marshmallows my only indescretion, but can I stop at 2??? I am sure they are all sugar. I will just keep telling myself that.
Jack: Good luck staying on plan at the race track. It's not the food during the football games that I am worried about, just the season in general; the holidays & colder weather...all the social outings, etc..
Quilter: Way to journal....I always found that to help me when I got into a stall. I think I will write to GH; hopefully they will read it. I would love to join in on the exercise board. Wednesdays & Saturdays I get to go early in the morning when hubby is home. The other days depends on the kiddos. I am going to try to go to the gym today and see if my 1-year old throws her "seperation anxiety" fit and see if I can follow through with my workout.
fruit: Complain as much as you want, but try to get back on plan and stay. It's so easy to find reasons to stray. No-one should have to endure 6 miscarriages!!! I remember, after having my miscarriage, taking my daughter to the emergency room (she fractured her arm). There was a pregnant woman there with a child (who looked as if she hadn't been bathed in weeks), who was barefoot and her hair was all knotted up. The woman was talking to someone on the phone about her scheduled c-section the followind day and how her boyfriend didn't want this baby. She kept going outside to smoke cigarettes. This incident upset me for weeks. Just remember thought that you are important, and the body you are living in is all yours, and you have to take care of it. Please keep coming here for motivation and support!! Happy Anniversary; enjoy the time with your hubby. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, as well. Hang in there, girl!
Country: You probably are building muscle with all the walking you are doing. It is one of the best way to build your leg muscles.
Gotta go in 15 minutes and I'm not even dressed.
Take care, and I'll check in later!!

Finally getting a post in. Work is just too busy.
Yesterday's veggies:
2 cups of romaine and spinach salad.
1/2 c green beans
1/4 cup cauliflower with cheese
1/4 cup peas.
Having the same salad today.
Did fit in 30 minutes of wt lifting last night. It felt good to be back in the routine. Drug my fat a** out of bed this morning for a 2 mile walk. This was after I had a very harsh talking to myself. I really did not want to go, but kept reminding myself of all the wt I gained on vacation.
Heartmom, We need to find a way to get through those weekends. My biggest problem too. Maybe that should be our next challenge.
Kim, glad you made it through the day. I did to. It was tough though. I knew you went to TN with your college friends but it seemed you were gone too long. I had hoped to meet up with you when we flew out of Cinn, but maybe next time. It's tough getting out of bed and getting that exercise in, but when you're done, you are glad you did.
Monet, glad you are back on track. How sweet to fix dinner for your SIL.
Ange, Hi. You must have joined us while I was on vacation. Looks like you have a new little one. Congrats. They are precious. Welcome. Lookf orward to getting to know you.
BKM, thanks for the update on Deb. Poor thing. Hope she gets that car fixed soon.
Rosalie, you don't sound much like a lady of liesure with all you do. But I guess when it's fun things, it doesn't count.
Missy, my heart breaks for you. First of all, you are not a failure. We all have been int he same place you are. That's why we come here. As far as the miscarriags, I can't answer why, but I firmly believe things happen for a reason. I know that is no consolation for you. Sending prayers for your healing. Maybe you could get motivated with losing if you think it will be best for you in carrying a baby. Don't know, but it would have to help. Please don't stay away. You need us a lot right now and we are here to help you. You have to want it. But sometimes you have to hit the bottom before you realize how bad you really do want it. I sure did. I hated myself for a long time but then I realized that I was the only one that could do somthing about it. Sorry for the sermon. Hopeyou have a great restful time in GS.
Bob, hope you got some sleep. Hope you are well stocked on bourbon, the price will surely be going up. See you didn't get any sleep. Hope you can go to bed early tonight. SOmetimes when I'm so exhausted, I really can't sleep.
Zanne, glad you are back on track. I like that calendar page idea. Good motivator.
Jecrites, glad your week is going good. Keep on truckin.
Country, something is wrong if you are doing that much walking and gaining. You must be building muscles. Maybe your buddy thinks you look smaller b/c you are toning. How do your clothes feel?
Susan, it is raining here alot too. Tired of this. It really hasn't been HOT yet.
Thunder, Don't let that scale drive you nuts. It can be fickle. The only thing I see is maybe add some more fruit.
Pancho, I think the biggest thing for getting through those social events is being prepared. Take legal things with you. Eat before your leave. I always took triscuits with me and if we went Mexican, I used them instead of the chips. I would plan my breads and take it with me. It is hard, but if you truly want it, you can do it. Now I just have to start thinking that way again.
The scale was down 4 pounds this morning, but still not enough.
ALmost lunch time and I'm starving. Getting back OP is hard. Had the worst headache all day yesterday. Yes, I know why and I deserved every painful minute of it.
Hope to check back later.
Have a great afternoon.
Jackie.

Good afternoon,
Just got back from vacation yesterday, had a really hard time staying OP while in the amusement park and at my in-laws.
But, when we ate out, it was a little easier. Now we're back home, I've been to the grocery store to stock up on my goodies, and the kids are gone for 2 weeks, so even that is easier. Hope to go to Pilates class tonight, and do some cardio on the elliptical machine. Exercise went out the window over vac. too. Walked around the park, and in Chicago, but it just wasn't the same as going to the gym...I almost dread WIW tomorrow, to see how bad the scale is....
Hope that everyone else is doing well.

Well it's Tuesday! I haven't been on the boards in a couple of days b/c I was having a really hard time staying op after an upsetting phone call from the photographer from my wedding (I got married this past April and there are some problems with the pictures). Having a hard weekend (which seems to be the hardest time for me to stay op even without the depression) and falling off (although not as bad as I could have, I canbe a huge binger, I had a pint of Haggandaz Sat and the box of Entamine's cookies+two handfuls of doritos Sun) left me feeling bad b/c you all have been so supportive and helpful and I screwed up anyway. :(
Basically I know now that I was so upset and depressed on Friday b/c I let him convince me that the problem weren't the their fault but the caterers fault and my fault, and so I took it all on and made myself feel like a failure. I also know now that I continued my "I'm a failure" attitude by not coming to you all for help and support. I was being very self defeating. But today I'm back here with the news that despite not coming to you all yesterday (or over the weekend when I was so upset) I did go back op yesterday and it went well. I just have to take it one day at a time and try to do the best I can. I AM NOT PERFECT and that's got to be okay. :D
Does anyone have any good suggestions of things to do to combat emotional eating? :?: It's a big problem for me and probably how I got to be 263.5#.
Thanks all.
Have a great week.

Howdy Bashful...repeat after me...I AM NOT A FAILURE! For real. Failing is when you fall down and you never get back up. As long as you draw breath and try you are winning. One bad weekend of eating does not sum up how you will do from now on. Will you cheat again..maybe maybe not. I've been eating this way for over two years with plenty of cheats.
Seriously I've jumped on a bag of chips like a hog to slop barely stopping to breath because I've been so upset at something or someone. And what's even worse is I've told myself while I'm digging in....this is emotional eating. I think the key is stopping once you realize you've gone over board and knowing that you can get back on track. (((((Bashful)))))
WTG getting back OP this week. I'm very sorry they messed up your photos.
Love and hugs,

Fruit--I know the feeling. And I never even got PG. :( Just to know I could get preggers would have been something, but not even that. BUT--and this is from someone who is a friend of "the man upstairs"--sometimes He allows unfair stuff happen so that we can get it straight where our joy and purpose really come from. You ARE a beautiful woman; God created YOU unique and special. You have a lot to give. Even though your life seems to be missing something that you deeply want, in truth, total fulfillment comes from God. HE is the source of joy and purpose. (Believe me, kids can break your heart and will fail at bringing you that lasting happiness. We adopted both of ours, and there was a day only a few years ago when I sobbed, "If I had known it was gonna be this hard, I don't know if I would have done this." )
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I care, I understand those feeling of not having kids when everyone around is having them, I understand how hard it is at parties when all the women jabber on about their kids, and I understand that life can be rich and fulfilling despite all this. Ride the wave that God has allowed life to send you. Understand just who you are from God's perspective (Read PS 103!!) and then use his guiding hand on your "surfboard" to ride victoriously, purposefully and joyfully. You can do it, dear friend. We are all pulling for you, and want you to get out of the undertow you are in now. OK?
PS. There is a book out now by Rick Warren that you might find very helpful as you get back on the track of joyful living. If you don't know the name of it, let me know and I'll give you the title.
BTW, how is LSU suppossed to do this year? Gators are not expected to do much. I miss Visor Man.!!

Howdy Everyone!
Work was, well, work today. I left an hour early because there was nothing to do. We were out of almost everything, and the truck comes in tonight. Tomorrow, it will probably be hopping!
After I got off, I did some fund movings at the bank and credit union, that took way longer than it should have! Then I got home and realized I was out of almost everything! So my 17 year old and I hopped in the car and headed BACK to the store to get some groceries. Things look better now, with the fridge and cabinet stocked again. I do feel poorer though! :(
CONFESSION TIME: I had a big lick of buttercream icing today. I was moving a large amount from a mixer bowl into the holding tub, and I just popped my finger full into my mouth with out thinking much. Shame on me!
I ran into an old friend at the store. She wants me to make her daughter's wedding cake next March. Her older two got married last summer, and I could not make either one of their cakes, since one got married the week before my daughter's wedding and the other got married out of town. It boggles my mind that all these "kids" are getting married! I feel OLD!
Well, I am going to go take a bit of a snooze! I hope to get on a bit later and get in some replies!

Heading out and wanted to check in.
Have to go to the funeral home tonight. I swear that is all we have done lately. This was a neighbor from our first house. It is sad.
Going to work out at some point tonight. Got to get back in routine.
Woodfrogs, vacation is over and you can start from here. It is easier with the kids gone. More time to exercise and plan your meals.
Bashful8, My suggestions for emotional eating is to creat a diversion from food. Take a walk to think things over. Clean out a closet, drawers, etc. Do something constructive. How about exercise? That gives dual rewards. It is hard. We all do it. You are not a failure. Not with dieting or your wedding pictures. Try to keep focused on what you really want.
Gator, what an insightful, caring and wonderful message to Fruit.
Monet, it's those unconscience bites that kill us. Just go on and you will be fine. How sweet your friend wants you to make her cake. You do such a wonderful job.
Have a great evening. Good luck on WIW.
CHAT IS TONIGHT IF ANYONE CAN MAKE IT. My computer is acting up, but I will try to be there if I can.

Hey ladies!
Thanks soooo soooo much for the wonderful caring messages. I don't even know what to say...other than...y'all are the best! I love you! Thanks for making me feel better. I was feeling down - big time - I went to school to work in my classroom and had to see my 2 friends that are due in Jan. They are starting to show and are so cute and pregnant - just another reminder that I'm not. I just can't stand it! I'll be back tomorrow - I've got to get ready for "date night"
I love y'all!
Thanks again!

Just checking in. FRUIT- I agree with basically what everyone else has said. God does have a plan, although we don't undestand it at the time. Relax, and don't beat yourself up. Your not a failure. If you constantly say you are, then you will believe it to be so. So instead, look at yourself and say I'm not a failure, God has me here for a reason. Work on taking care of yourself.
Jack-k-- I'm up for the weekend challenge if you are!!
Bashful- I can really relate to you. I guess I'm an emotional eater also. My biggest downfall is convincing myself that I will only have one cheat, never ends up that way. The good thing about this WOE is that you can pick yourself up and get right back on plan.
I forgot who, but someone asked about slow weight loss. I have lost 85 pounds in the past 2 years. 85 is alot, but it's been at a slow pace. The good thing about slow loss, is that your less likely to pile it back on and your body has time to adjust to the loss.
Anyway, I woke up this morning and was even more puffier than yesterday. I stayed OP yesterday and did my 2 mile tape. Today TOM arrived and now I'm puffy and bloated, ugh. However, my eating has been pretty good and I did my 3 mile tape today. I'm sure I will be foregoing this WIW. When I get back to my low, then I'll start posting my weight again. I hope that will happen by the next WIW. Veggies for today- I had some relish(tuna salad), 3 celery stalks, half a cucumber and I'm going to have green beans, and mixed butterbeans and peas for supper. Anyone know what the recommended daily fruit intake is?

Bashful--We have zippo, nada, zero, none, not one picture from our wedding. The photog's camera was broken and he didn't know it. I was upset at the time, but, hey, in three weeks we will have been married 40 years. Picture are nice, but the memories over the years are even better. Don't fret over what you can't change, and work diligently over what you can. Perhaps if the pictures fall through, you and your husband can make a special date night and get a lovely 1 year anniversary portrait that is worthy to hang on your wall.

Well, I wanted to try to post quickly the little exerpt in the Good Housekeeping magazine I mentioned earlier:
They summarize Atkins, SB, The Zone, The Eat Right for Your Type & the South Beach diet. They are not favorable to any, but seem to slam Sugarbusters the most.
Here it is word for word:
Sugar Busters:
What started as a fringe diet went mainstream five years ago with a best-selling book.
What's Good: Some information could help diabetics.
What's Bad: This plan urges you to eliminate or drastically reduce food with a high glycemic index (i.e; foods that quickly convert to sugar in the body, leading to an insulin spike followed by a crash). This advice may be useful to diabetics, but it's less relevant to most people. For example, the original Sugar Busters book defined carrots - a high glycemic food - as a no-no. Think about that for a moment: Are the carrots you like to snack on really the reason you've gained weight?
Bottom line: Sugar is not the problem. According to a book review in the Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter: "All the diet really does is present one false claim after another. For example the book implies that sugar causes diabetes (it doesn't), that it's a risk for heart disease (it isn't ), and that the hormone insulin causes weight gain (it won't)."
That is word for word what the article says, and I have to wonder who endorsed this article for this magazine. So many of the companies like WW, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, etc...are losing a lot of money to the lower carb plans, and are even rushing out now to create lower carb choices for their plans, even though they encourage low fat. Oh well, I guess as long as we know what's right for us, who cares what everyone else thinks!! I have tried a lot of plans, and I have lost 25 pounds in four months and have maintained it for over a month now. I am even 5 pounds lighter than the goal weight I had set for myself. But, I don't have to sell the plan to you all!
Well, better run. Take care everyone!

GOOD TUESDAY AFTERNOON TO ALL MY BUDDYS!!!! :tired:
Well, I made it thru the day....I don't know how, but I did! I've had more sleepless nights than I can count, but this is the FIRST TIME that it's been the WHOLE NIGHT!!!! :tired: My plans are to fix Skeeter and Kate their supper, set the VCR and crawl up in the four poster! That way if I DO GO TO SLEEP, I won't miss any of my shows!
MISSY...... Bless you heart my friend. I can't say that I know how you're feeling, but my heart is absolutely breaking for you....I know how much you want a baby, and it probably feels like everything is against you and DH.....But you know what???? The BIG GUY UPSTAIRS NEVER gives us more than we can handle on our plate of life...We're all here for you and you know that without even thinking about it.....I have a solution.....YOU CAN ADOPT ME!!! How would you like to have a BOUNCING BABY BOB AROUND THE HOUSE ALL THE TIME????? ;) Sweetie, I love you and you know where I am if you need me....
GATOR....That's the most touching thing I've read in a long time.
You ALWAYS know what to say....It made ME feel better, and I know you touched MISSY as well.
JACKIE....I swear, between me and SUSAN, there will be a lot of tears shed over this loss...When I saw those flames.......:sorry: :yikes: :faint: Girl, you spend more time at the funeral home.....you've really had a lot of losses lately....
Are you back in the swing of things yet? Are there any pictures of your trip to post?
BASHFUL....I'm so sorry about your pictures...My Niece had a problem like that...My SIL was president of the Chamber in their town and she looked for favors to call in when Cathy was getting married. BOB: Just had to jump on and say that I am eating plenty. I only posted the fruits & veggies. With my lunch I had tuna, and with my dinner I had ground turkey on two whole grain tortillas. I also had yogurt & granola for breakfast, and triscuits & cheese for a snack, as well as two mini cheesecakes (legal). I only listed the fruits & veggies per this week's challenge. I cannot get by with eating little; that's why I never survived on Weight Watchers; I'd meet my daily points by lunchtime. I eat & snack much smarter these days.
I hope to post more later! Gotta go finish up dinner. I snapped some fresh green beans and have them cooking with onion, garlic and a slice of bacon (for flavor). I'm going to make pork chops and baby red potatoes. I will just have pork, green beans & salad, and let the rest of the family enjoy those tender little taters.
Take care all!

Well- my birthday festivities have drawn to a close. And while, it was not all that festive, I allowed myself 2 days of eating liberally, so that was my own private party!
My cheating foods: saturday - 3 slices of cheese pizza and small portions of tiramisu, chocolate cake, and chocolate ice cream & 2 Blue Hawaiian cocktails.
monday, lunch at the Great American Buffet (dangerous!), and I had a salad, but ALSO had 3 pieces of cheesy bread, and 1 piece of pecan pie.
For dinner, I had a Bahama Mama cocktail and 2 triangles of Spanokopita (phyllo dough with spinach, feta, and onions)
I was right back OP today, but I discovered a WONDERFUL feta/cream cheese spread type of thing that I got at safeway, so I know I had more than enough of that spread on Triscuits.
My mother gave me the new SB book and the SB cookbook. I'm very happy about that!
2 different waitresses commented on my WOE over the weekend. For example, Friday, I told them no bread, so the waitress brough my dinner salad and said she didn't put croutons on it because she figured I was on Atkins. I thanked her for her insight, but told her I was actually on Sugarbusters, and she was like, "same thing." I didn't bother to correct her.
Then sunday, I ordered a salad at Perkins, which is normally served in a bread bowl. So after going through the "would it be too much trouble to... blah blah blah..." The waitress, of course, asks if I'm doing Atkins, I tell her no, I'm doing SB, I really like it... she says, well, I could never live without my pasta and bread. So- I decided to spread the word to her and told her ALL about SB. We got into a conversation about artificial sweeteners and she was being so cynical about everything I told her. (e.g., the aftertaste in splenda is just too much - this is b/c she puts 15 sugars in her coffee, which to me makes it brown sugar water)
I am getting so annoyed about having to defend my WOE. It is not extreme, it is NOT unhealthy, so that reminds me:
Pancho- Haven’t read the GH, but I will. Can’t wait to read that article. I would DEFINITELY respond to it. But you know what- they would print our response if it came from the ENTIRE board… & it would be FABULOUS if one of us could write an article in response.
I might endeavor to do that, but I would need to interview some of you.
Heartmom – WTG on the vegetables! I think that’s a pretty good amount. More than I can do without eating 1 big salad.
Angehaley- what a sweet photo you have for your avatar!
Crystle- I agree with pancho – you’re probably gaining muscle. Remember, the numbers on the scale don’t matter. You might be losing inches, actually.

Tuesday Night---Reporting in on my weigh in. Technically, I have gained 8/10s of a pound since my last weigh in, which isn't that bad. Less than a pound is not that big of a deal. However, I did drop two pounds on my scale from yesterday morning to this morning on my own scales. So I'm not giving up. Just dealing with my mistakes and bad choices. It's going to work. Just have to keep working.
COUNTRY---Sorry your scales are not working correctly. Are they digital? If so, perhaps you should change the battery. I know that's what happened with mine. They were all over the place and then a new battery changed all that. Keep working and walking like crazy. You'll see a difference on that scale.
BOB---You are certainly super woman. There's no way I could function without major naps after having a sleepless night. I hope you can have a beautiful night tonight. We have Jim Beams up here too. It always makes one part of I-75 smell mighty pretty.
PANCHO---Thanks for giving us the rundown on the GH article. Hey, congratulations for making it to the exercise board. Very well done!!!
ZANNE--WTG, girl! Get back on track and you'll feel so great and so powerful.
JACKK---I'm so sad I missed you when you flew thru Cincinnati. That's what I get for being off the board for so long. Weren't we going to try and meet up this summer??? Well, the summer is getting shorter and shorter.
If I missed anyone, so sorry. I'll try to catch up with more of you tomorrow night!
Okay, that's it for me for tonight. I just discovered a new way to make some really cute bracelets. So I'm off to make a bigger mess of the dining room table. Take care you all and good luck tomorrow on WIW!!!!

Missy...I normally post every morning but this morning I read your post and my heart just broke for you. I had to wait and get my thoughts together before I responded. Then after coming on the board and reading everyone's replies to you I realized how wonderful this board is. I could not have said it better than anyone else today. We love you and we care about you so please do not stay away. Gator is right on target when she says that God loves you and is there for you especially when times are tough. :grouphug: :grouphug: We just got back from Gulf Shores...where are you staying? Have a great time.
Bashful: Well I am definitely a big emotional eater. I have lost so much weight when the times are good and then when my life goes to you know where, food is my comfort. I've come to realize that I can't stop the bad things and that there is a lot in my life I can't control. The one thing I can control is my eating and health. Then when I feel better because I'm controlling this, I am better able to handle what life throws my way. So when the urge comes, try to think about this and realize that you are in charge. It really gives you a good feeling.
Pancho and everyone else re: the Goodhouskeeping article: Here is an excerpt from the July Reader's Digest. If Grovia is willing she could send this excerpt to them for the letter to the editor:
*****************************************
The article is titled "Hungry All the Time, How to turn off the switch." On page 117 it states:
Over the last two decades, scientist have begun to pay closer attention to glucose and insulin. Measuring how quickly the body absorbs glucose from a food they've ranked our diets on what's called the glycemic index....A diet rich in high GI foods can be hard on your health because it pushes your body to extremes...Day after day of this (eating high GI foods) can tax your pancreas. Worse the insulin it releases may become less efficient at corralling sugar. That adds up to insulin resistance, and people with this condition - some experts estimate there are as many as 50 million Americans - are at high risk for developing Type 2 diabetes...Diabetes is not the only worry. High levels of glucose damage blood vessels, and elevated amounts of insulin can raise blood pressure and blood levels of fats, while suppressing levels of "good" cholesterol. The result is increased heart-disease risk. There is more: David Jenkins a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto and one of the pioneers of GI research, has recently found links between high GI diets and ovarian and endometrial cancer. Other studies have tied the diet (high GI) to increased risk of breast and colon cancer.
*****************************************
Ok there is more such as 16 studies have proven that people are hungrier when eating a high GI diet. But I can't type in the entire article. So for everyone that has to defend SB here is some good proof.
OH...Tuesday tip. One a day vitamins now makes one that is called "Weight Smart" it has the extract from Green Tea. Green tea helps increase your metabolism. Haven't tried it yet, but wanted to pass that info along.
Veggies today...didn't do so good. tomato and brocolli...:o
Have to run. Good thoughts and Vibes to everyone :goodvibes

Well Ladies, I was able to read a good bit of the posts today thanks to my new laptop, but did not get to everyone yet. I am posting what I got & will work on it again tomorrow. It felt good to be able to read all the posts for a change & be able to respond. It may be a little behind time, but at least I'm with you all now! :)
Hi! Was just reading the MM & thought I’d share my thoughts about it. In One Step Forward, it said
" Take that one little step forward, and then take another. " It dawned on me that all too often we, or at least ME, find ourselves wanting to take a giant step forward without taking those necessary smaller ones. I find myself at a higher weight than I have been for a long time, over a year, & want it to come down NOW! Well it didn’t get here over night & certainly will not disappear without taking the small necessary steps that I HAVE to take to correct it. I will have to deny myself the extra foods that I have indulged in & I will have to exercise so that I can take those extra lbs off. It WILL come down if I do those small steps & be patient. It’s not always easy, but unless I face the truth & do it the right way, I will find myself gaining more. I have to face up to the fact that I have let myself get this way & I’m the only one that can correct it. So as of today, I am determined to get back on tract!
QUILTER/Kim, Mondays are rough, but they are a new day of a new week to make a difference in our lives. WTG for starting your day on the TM. I always feel better when I start the day with exercise, so why do you think I fail to do it? :( I hear you about the mindset. It’s the first step we must take to success. But you know...this is not an excuse, just an example of how others get into our mind & help us fail. Lately I’ve had several people to tell me that I am looking better than I did for a while, saying that they were "worried" about me when I had lost down to my goal weight. They are telling me that I looked sick & that my face was drawn. Hence, giving me an excuse to eat whatever I wanted cause I believed them. But you know what? It’s ME that is the judge here. I felt better at goal & I WANT to return there!
Gatorgal You’re right, I did get down to goal before & just have to work harder at doing it again, so I checked "very confident" on the poll. I am determined to do it. My clothes are fitting too tight!
Country, You are doing so awesomely well with your walking. I admire your disciple to get out there & do it.
Jack-K Glad you enjoyed your vacation. Girl, you would think we’d learn that we have to just stick to plan, but we always think we can get away with something, huh? Well just jump up here on the wagon with the rest of us! Sounds like you have lots of good exercise though, which is great!
Pancho, A good cook also has to taste the results. It’s hard to bake & not be a test taster. Week ends are hard for me too. I seem to do fairly well all week then blow it on the week end. Hang in there girl. I didn’t read the article you related to, but it’s typical of some "experts" to bash SB WOE. I believe it’s because they know NOTHING about SB. Hope you have a great time on your trip to Durango, CO. I’ve never been west of Texas, but dh & I have been talking about visiting his niece near Denver. I hope to go there & also to Sedona, AR one day.
FILLISE, I went to the dentist yesterday too, but thank goodness it was just a cleaning. $600 to repair a tooth? Is that what someone wanted to charge you for it?? $93 sure isn’t bad compared to that. Thank goodness you didn’t have any pain with that!
Thunder 2 gallons of peeled peaches? Girl, that’s a lot of peaches to peel by yourself! I’ll bet those hands did hurt! Glad to hear that your mom was willing to substitute the regular whaite rice with the brown. You know, most people do find that they like a lot of the healthier foods once they give it a try. Sometimes it’s "stinking thinking" that keeps us from making changes. LOL
jecrites, Good fro you, staying OP during the week end. Sounds like you’re doing great with this WOE & can’t wait for school to start! LOL
BeachFan, 21 lbs since you’re back on plan is GREAT :cp: I know what you mean about being 10 above last year’s weight. Me too, but that’s still 15 lbs above my goal weight. It is discouraging, but you know what? It WILL go back down. I hope to be able to report a better reading by WIW. I know you will too.
daisey_73, Girl I can’t even remember what the percentages are. Are you doing ok with this WOE? Hang in there.
Rosalie Glad I was able to make you  with my jogging description the other day. I have the walking cd’s & really need the videos now at work so I will try to find someone to make me a copy soon. Glad you like the motivational saying at the end of my post. Can't remember where I got it, but it has always encouraged me when I read it, as it reminds me that I am not a total failure. Thanks for the reminder about FitDay. I need to try to get back there too. I also found it helpful when I was using it.
I too like the veggie challenge. I love salads & veggies. Let’s see, yesterday we had lunch at Souper Salad & I had a large salad with marinaded mushrooms in it & a small bowl of cream of asparagus soup. It was wonderful! Last night we had another large salad of greens with fresh cukes & tomatoes from the garden. Today I had a little roast pork & a med salad with fresh cukes & tomatoes added to salad greens. I also had an orange for late morning snack. Plan to have an apple in a bit, then salad for supper with a new freezer item I found at WalMart last night. It’s called Chicken Toscana Bowl by Chef’s Choice. It’s roasted chicken breast with veggies sliced zucchini & yellow squash smothered in a zesty garlic tomato sauce with mozzarella cheese. The best thing is that it’s only 10 gms total carbs! No rice or pasta which is rare to find in a frozen dinner. Seems to be pretty much in the "legal" range. Will give it a try. Have any of you tried this item or have any knowledge about it??? Will report later on how good or bad it is. LOL
Heartmom, I understand totally about bad eating on week ends. Giving ourselves the right to cheat is not helping us at all. Come girl, we CAN do it!
Monet, Your stir fried shrimp supper sounds great
Good nite!

Has anyone been following the Last Comic Standing? I was disappointed that Ralphie didn't win. I really liked his performance tonight about telling American girls to quit obsessing over being too thin. Anyway, regarding when someone asks me why I order a food such a way, I say I'm allergic to it, it makes me break out in fat, lol. Who cares what they think? I know I'm doing my body so much better now than loading up on refined carbs. I used to do the low fat thing. I lost a little weight doing it, but it really felt like a diet. I was miserable at times and I hated counting fat grams and calories. I love the freedom that SB has to offer. People who aren't familar with SB think it's too restrictive because they haven't realized they are sugar junkies. Before SB, I used to drink a 2 liter coke a day, eat white bread, chips, you name it. The way the majority of America eats is sugar, sugar. Most people don't understand that just because the label says only 1 gram sugar that it doesn't mean it's a low sugar food. They don't grasp the idea that your body is designed to break down a certain amount of sugar and when you keep adding bad foods, your body can't break it down and boom- you gain weight. This is also why you can gain weight on a low fat diet. I've been there and done that. So whoever wrote that article doesn't no jack. He or she was probably sitting at their computer drinking a coke and snacking on some baked lays, lol. Okay, I'm off my soapbox.

Hi Everyone
Missy - Sorry I didn't reply to your post earlier but you had posted about the same time as I did yesterday and this is the first time I've had time to post to-day. I'm so sorry to hear that you are feeling so down but please don't beat yourself up. I can't say I know how you feel as I have never been in your situation and I can't make any comments better than what has already been said, particularly by Gator, but wanted you to know that I feel for you and send you lots of love. Enjoy your trip to the Gulf Shores and Happy Anniversary.
BOB - I had a night like you describe a week or so ago. It certainly leaves you drained the next day. Hope you do better tonite.
Quilter - Good for you getting on that TM this morning. WTG for staying op and being down 2 pounds. I liked your description of Maddie having to cross her legs if you didn't get home on time. That gave me a chuckle this morning.
Zanne - Good to see you posting again but it sounds like I should come down to visit you with the Dungeon Mistress's whip.. Just hop right back on that wagon.
CountryMom - Lawn bowling is similar to curling except it is played on grass and not on ice. You have to roll a little white ball down the green (that's the area that we play on). The green is about 30-40 yards long - that's just a guess. The players have three or four heavy balls and they take turns rolling these balls down the green to see how close they can get to the little white ball. We usually play in teams of two or three. The team that gets the closest to the little ball (which is called a jack but I always want to call it a puck) wins points. It's really much more fun than it sounds. :)
Fillise - You can come to dinner any time.
Jack-K - Glad you were able to get out for that walk this morning. It's a good way to get your metabolism going.
Monet - I don't think that one lick of butter cream could do any damage, as long as that little taste doesn't cause you to eat the potful.
HeartMom - I think the recommended amount of fruit is two servings a day.
Pancho - Thanks for posting the article from GH. You have to wonder who writes these articles and where they get their information from. I think they must have their heads in the sand. They are actually printing misinformation (is that a word?). There are so many articles in papers and magazines and on the web these days that talk about the gi of foods and about the effect of insulin on weight gain and heart health etc.
Groovia - MMMMM.........Sounds like you had a good feast for your birthday. Wish I could have joined you. :). That would be great if you could write a letter responding to the GH article.
Beachfan - Thanks for posting the RD article. I think it would be a great idea to send GH the article.
Melf - I think lots of us could relate to that MM on One Step Forward. Glad to see you are determined to get back on track. You did it before and I know you can do it again. Slow and sure will win the race. I have the 2 mile WATP video by Leslie Sansone and it's a good one. I don't do it much anymore as I'm usually active enough with other activities but I did get it out and did one mile of it the other day. Let's know how your dinner turned out tonite.
Good Night.

Well, it's WIW, and I sort of dreaded it, since we were on vacation last week and it was really hard to stay OP while at Cedar Point amusement park, and then at the in-laws(she bought stuff for the kids, but I sort of had to make do), at restaurants at least there's a possibility of finding something semi-healthy....I didn't weigh in last week because we were out of town. Anyway....the scale says....1.5 pound weight loss! Down to 238.5. Now this might not seem like such a great ting, but considering I weighed 270 at the beginning of May, I think it's wonderful! I also did 2.5 miles on the elliptical machine last night and went to a yoga-lates class(yoga combined with Pilates).
Breakfast this morning was an egg with a slice of american cheese on a slice of rye toast.
I was talking to a friend on Monday about SB. She's putting her whole family on Atkins because her daughter is insulin resistant. Not sure exactly what that is, but considering she's 10 and probably weighs 150, I'd say that she needs to do something.
I told her about my SB experience, how I'd lost 30 pounds so far, that you can still have "good" carbs, etc. Not sure that she really heard me, I think she has tunnel vision for Atkins. She lost 40 pounds and kept it off for 2 years before putting the weight back on. She has a distinct advantage, her Mom lives with them and does the shopping and most of the cooking(if someone else was cooking for me, I'd probably eat healthy all the time).
The husband got on the scale yesterday and it read 201! He hasn't been that heavy ever since I meet him 4 years ago. I try to get him to eat healthier, but he's stubborn(very supportive of my efforts though).
Guess that's all for now. You all sound like you're doing the best you can given the circumstances. This board is wonderful!

Good Morning
I'm up 1/2 pound this morning to 192.5. I was down to 191 a few days ago so have the feeling that it will go down again soon. It sure is coming off slowly but I can live with that after being stuck on a plateau for so long.
Woodfrogs - That's wonderful that you have lost over 30 pounds in about three months.:cp:. And what a nice surprise this morning to be down 1.5 after your vacation.:cb: I hope you can convince your friend to re-think her idea of putting a 10 year old on Atkins. Definitely not a good choice for a child. Insulin resistance is when the body cannot adequately use the available insulin so keeps producing more insulin to compensate and can lead to overweight and health problems. A low glycemic woe has been recommended for this condition.
I forgot to post my VEGGIES for yesterday so here is what I had:
2 cups green beans
1 cup mixed veggies (peas, broccoli, carrots, a few water chestnuts, mushrooms)
1/2 cup coleslaw
3/4 cup green peas
Have a good day everyone.

Happy WIW. Hope the scale is good to everyone.
I have lost 6 of the 12 vacation pounds since Monday. Hope the next 6 come off as quickly. Gonna work hard at it.
My veggies yesterday were:
salad
broccol
sauteed onions and mushrooms
and another salad.
Today I'm having pot pie for lunch, so whatever veggies are in there and I had celery sticks for a snack.
Got my work out in last night. I was exhausted, but determined to get back into this with both feet, so I did it. Sure was glad too.
Heartmom, yes we will do that weekend challenge. We can do this. I know it. I'm with you on posting my wt. Not until I get down to my low.
Gator, what a good idea about the wedding pictures. In 30 years I think I may have looked at mine 2 times. Then the kids just get a good laugh.
Fruit, just be happy for those prego friends. They don't know what's in store for them yet. Kids can be wonderful, but you don't know what they will bring or how they will turn out. Concentrate on being ahappy you. Have you ever thought of adopting?
Bob, we are not picture people. We did take a roll of the resort but we are not in any of them. Hope you got some sleep last night. I know I died. Just can't get over the vacation and back into the swing of things.
Groovia, Welcome, You must have come on board while I was on vacation. Glad you had a nice birthday. Now is the time to get busy though. Looking forward to getting to know you.
Kim, that was a great weigh in in my book. We need to get started in the right direction though and quit this up and down stuff. I am determined. I want to be at goal by Oct 10. I have 2 months to lose 20 pounds. I hope I can do it. Yes we were planning on getting together. I just don't know where the time goes.
Melf, glad you are back with us. I loved your insight on the small steps. You are so right. We always want it off now and don't want to work at it. But we have to move slowly in order to change our eating habits. I never did that before but slowly learning to do it with SB.
Woodforgs, that's 31.5 pounds since May. That is awesome :flap: Keep up the good work. Maybe DH will see how good you are doing and join in. My DH didn't have a choice. I only cook one way they eat it or go hungry. He lost 30 w/o even trying.
Rosalie, I wouldn't worry about that 1/2 pound. Could be the stupid scale. Or your dinner last night.
Need to get back on payroll. Hope to check in later.

Hello everyone!
Not weighing in today. I know the scales are up because of my 2 1/2 months of falling off the wagon, and just one little week of being back OP won't make that much of a difference in what I gained back. It's my own fault though, I should have been stronger in the will power department.
Even though I wasn't OP during those months, what really irritates the you know what out of me is that my MIL knows that I'm doing SB, and she still won't even try to do anything different while we are at her house. I know it's her house and she can do as she wants, but holy cow, if she was doing some weirdo diet I would try to go along with her on it while she was at my house. I just don't know what to tell her to get her to do this WOE. She's always complaining that she's not a small any more that she has to get a medium, but she doesn't want to do anything about it. Really it's not her I'm the worst worried about, it's my FIL. He's overweight, has heart problems and is on blood pressure and cholesterol meds, does even less exercise than I do (if that's even possible). He had to have open heart surgery 2 years ago, and they gave them a "diet" to go by, but that was a crap diet to start with, and of course they didn't stick with it. It just frustrates me to know that my MIL is a nurse, but still refuses to do what she knows to be the best thing for herself and her husband. Sorry about all of that, but I just couldn't hold that in any longer. I've talked to my SIL about it, and she doesn't know any way to get that woman to understand either.
Melf, Who me? Doing good on this WOE? LOL! I've just now gotten myself back on track since our move in the middle of May. When I stick to the plan I do good, but when I fall off, boy do I fall off good and hard. Most times weekends are really hard for me, but I didn't let myself bring any "bad" things into the house so I wouldn't be tempted. If I hadn't done that, then I wouldn't have survived the weekend. School can't start back fast enough for me either. The first day is Aug. 18, but I'd be happy if it was tomorrow! I love the kids and all, but they sure can push my buttons with all their arguing and fighting all the time.
Fruitloupe, I know exactly how you are feeling. I went through the same thing, only it was my SIL (hubby's sister) instead of friends. She decided to tell everyone she was preg. at the same time that I lost mine. I really resented her for that, and couldn't stand to be around her. I felt like she was trying to rub it in my face, and for all I know she was; that's just the type of person she was back then. I'm not saying that your friends are doing that or going to do that because I don't know them or anything, that's just my experience with it. What made things worse was she had the baby on my due date. It took me a long long long time to get to where I didn't hate to be around her. I even had someone tell me that I was jealous, and I just blew them off because I didn't think I was, and really still don't think I was. I felt it was her timing for telling everyone. That was 8 years ago, and I can say that I've gotten over it, but sometimes just thinking about the way she was then still rubs me the wrong way. I agree with everything everyone else has told you, and I sure do wish that I would have had some wonderful friends like the people on this board to help me back then. My hubby has a cousin that had a lot of miscarrages, I have no idea how many, but to my understanding it was a lot, and she did go on to have a child at a later time. I hope I didn't make you feel worse about your situation, and if I did I'm sorry, I just thought I'd let you know that I've been through the same exact thing you are going through. I'll be thinking about you and keeping you in my prayers, and I do hope that you have that baby you want so badly.
Ok, I've got a really messy house to clean, so I'm gonna go for now. I'll check back later on. Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
Jackk, I didn't see your post until after I posted. I do the same thing you do, I only cook one way and if they don't like it then they starve. My 4 yr. old is always telling me that she don't like something I've cooked, and she gets told to either eat it or go hungry and she won't be getting anything else to eat the rest of the night.

Morning all!
I see some sunshine out my window--hmmm, I wonder how long it will last?????
yesterday was not a great day food wise, but today will be better. I'm going to take hartmom's suggestion and begin rereading the book tonight!
Thunder--Looks like you are back on track with a vengence--WTG!
Pancho--I know, I'm very grateful it didn't hurt too. Fortunately the filling in the tooth stayed intact, so I think that was the key. You are doing better on the fruits and veggies than me!
Jackie--We haven't been really hot either--we have had that oppressive humidity though! I don't think we've cracked 100 this summer.
Barbara--Welcome to SB! Sounds like you are doing fine with all your activities! Way to go!
Bashful--Emotional eating is a struggle we all have. You hit the nail on the head with it--when we feel like failures. Instead of turning on yourself, put the issue where it belongs. Your photographer was suppoed to do a job and apparently didn't. Take it out on the photographer--not yourself!
Gator--you are a wise, wise woman.
Monet--I've done that before--absolutley unconsciously popped something into my mouth--like it's not hard enough when you are thinking about it!
Fruit--hang in there sweetie. I went through a bad period when all I wanted was to have a baby and it was hard to be around my friends with all their children. It sucks and there's just no other word for it. I've never struggled with infertility (just couldn't find a dang blam father)--but I do know the ache of the empty arms. We love you.
Heart--I think we are suppoed to shoot for five servings of fruits and veggies per day. I think.
BOB--get some sleep!
Kelly--15 sugars in a cup of coffee????? eeeewwwwwww. You hang in there!
Kim--yeah the going rate around here for a crown is about 600 bucks. so i was quite happy to pay less than 100.00.
Marie--Thanks, I'll be right over! I'm sure you'll be back donw again soon too!
Woodfrog--You go girl!!! 30 lbs since May is GREAT!
fruits and Veggies yesterday:
Lettuce
Diced tomatoes
peach
grapes
and that's it. Told you it wasn't great yesterday!
Have a good Op day everyone!

Lunchtime and I thought I'd check in.
FILLISE---Good idea to go over that book again. It helps to re-learn things.
JECRITES---I think it's so nice of you to be concerned about your in-laws health. You are right . . . they do need to do something. And unfortunately, they are the only ones who can do it for themselves. Perhaps the best message you can send to them is to take care of yourself. As they see you becoming more and more healthy, that may be just what they need (as a nudge) to get moving for themselves. Hang in there!
JACKK---I am so ready t have the scale going only in one direction. I'm with you that we need to get going in that direction. I feel good about where my mind is now with my eating and exercising. There were about 6 months when I just couldn't stay focused and was letting myself get away with far too much. Now I'm paying the price. What's done is done and fretting won't help it one bit. Doing the right thing will.
ROSALIE---You are really nipping at my heals with big losses. While I've been doing all the wrong things you've been doing all the right. Sorry about the 1/2 pound gain. But that's probably just fluids or something that will be gone by tomorrow morning. I've started weighing myself every morning. I do better having that accountability to start off my day.
Well, I'd better skeedaddle. More work to do. Take care everyone. Behave yourselves!

Hi everyone,
I had a good day yesterday...I picked a 5 gallon bucket of peas and picked some more okra. I shelled peas until 12 last nite and am tired this morning. We took a bath at 12:30am and then had to make up the bed.:dizzy: By that time it was 1:30 am good grief theres not enough hours in a day!!!;) My menu yesterday was: 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1/2 cup of blueberries and 2 slices bacon and lots and lots of water.
Lunch: Sugar Buster meatloaf, 3/4 cup of purple hull peas, 1/2 cup okra and a little salsa with the peas and lots and lots of water
Supper: same as above and added 2 slices of onion with my peas.
In between meals I had fresh peaches, strawberries, and Blueberries, got hungrey very last so made a grilled cheese and ham sandwich on lite sourdough bread and shared with the kids.
I know I need to get those late nite binges ended but right now we are running a little low on money so I can't buy the trisquits I need for those times when I get hungrey after everything else I've eaten.
Well gotta run the kids are up and running!!!
Everyone have a great Sugar Busters legal day!!!:hat:
Hugs to all!:grouphug: :balloons:

Jecrites, You can't make some people understand that they need help. Until they are ready to do something about it, there is nothing you can do. But she should be more sympathetic to you when you are at her house and try to have things you can eat.
thunder, boy that's a lot of peas. It is hard cutting out those late snacks. I try not to eat after dinner at all. If anything, a little sf ice cream.
Kim, you are right, you can't worry about what has happened in the past.
Fillise, I am reading Thing Tastes Great (on Deb's suggestion). It is pretty good too. Anyone wants it when I'm finished, I would be glad to send it to you.
Got to run home. Lots to do again.
Have a great evening.

UGH- I had this long post and was fixing to hit the submit button, and I got booted off. Anyway, I'm still up 3 pounds from my low. Monday it was 5 so it's gradually coming off. I'm still puffy in the face though. You would think the 2 gallons of water I drank yesterday would have flushed the extra fluid off by now. Well, it's Wednesday and I have done 3 days of exercise so far. I plan on doing my WATP tape again tomorrow. Friday I never have time, I run errands, pay bills, go to the grocery store etc and usually hang out with our friends. I'll try to exercise again this weekend for a total of 5 times this week. Veggies- not doing too good today in that dept. I had 2 celery stalks and a peach, lol. The rest was protein and 1 starch. I'm making chili tonight, so I'll have to make up for it tomorrow. Well, I'm tired of typing, going to watch TV with hubby.
Jecrites- don't worry too much about it- some people will never learn. It's aggravating, but you can't make them change their lifestyle. 2 weeks ago, this man I know passed away from congestive heart failure. He knew about his CHF and still went out and drank beer all the time. A friend of ours passed away a few years ago from Cirrohsis of the Liver- he was warned by the doctor that if he continued to drink it would kill him-- and it did. My friend's fiancee had a heart attack last year and was told to loose weight and change his diet- he eats fried food all the time, pork, junk you name it. All you can do is say that you care about them and want them to be around for many years and suggest they change their diet- if they don't then you've done all you can.

Too Many Fluids as Bad as Too Few
Daniel J. DeNoon
July 18, 2003 - For water and for sports drinks, the new
message is to drink wisely. Too many fluids are at least as
dangerous as too few, according to an editorial in the July 19
issue of the BMJ. But even though the USA Track & Field
association changed its guidelines in April, the word hasn't
reached everyone.
Most people still think you're supposed to drink as much as
you can. But that advice is dead wrong, said Timothy David
Noakes, MD, PhD, author of the editorial and chair of exercise
and sports science at the University of Cape Town and the
Sports Science Institute of South Africa. An authority on
endurance sports, Dr. Noakes advises South Africa's national
rugby and cricket teams. He's also the author of Lore of
Running, for years a bible to many serious runners.
"People have been coached to think that dehydration is the
worst thing that can happen during exercise, so now you have a
dangerous situation," Dr. Noakes told Medscape. "A woman only
needs to put on 2.5 kg of fluid to kill herself. It adds up
real quickly - it is easy to get overloaded. It is frightening
how easily it can happen."
Dr. Noakes explained that for a 70 kg man at rest, the kidney
passes only about 1 liter of water per hour. If you
combine that with a similar amount of sweat, that's 2
liters per hour of water loss. However, while walking or
running, sweat rates go down to about 300 mL per hour and
urine production also diminishes during exercise. The
situation is worse for women.
It's often said that by the time you get thirsty, you've
waited too long to take a drink. Nonsense, Dr. Noakes said.
"The idea that thirst comes too late is a marketing ploy of
the sports drink industry," Dr. Noakes said. "They tell people
their thirst is not giving them right information. There is
absolutely no biological information that is correct. The
answer is just drink what your thirst dictates."
The Beginning of Bad Advice
In his editorial, Dr. Noakes notes that from ancient times
until 1969, people didn't drink during exercise. Then an
influential - and, Noakes says, error-filled - scientific
paper concluded that this led to dangerous overheating. Soon
after, the first sports drinks hit the market, and advertising
encouraged people to drink all the fluids they could.
That still wasn't a problem, until amateur running became
popular. Elite athletes don't have time to drink too much. But
it's a different story when people run/walk marathons over
five hours.
"They are running so slowly they can drink all they want," Dr.
Noakes said. "There is no place outside of a pub where fluids
are so available as in a marathon in the U.S. And unlike a
pub, you aren't limited by having to pay for it. It doesn't
take much to get fluid overload."
Between the Rock of Fluid Overload and the Hard Place of
Dehydration
Fluid overload leads to hyponatremia, which can result in
brain swelling in extreme cases. The swollen brain can lead to
seizures and eventually respiratory arrest. This is what
killed a woman during the 2002 Boston Marathon.
"Humans are actually designed quite well for dehydration," Dr.
Noakes said. "There is very little evidence it has any effect
until one becomes very dehydrated - by which time your mouth
is so dry, and you have such extreme thirst, that this would
never happen. You are going to find water or a sports drink.
There is no way you will be seriously dehydrated when you
start a race."
Not everyone goes quite so far. Other experts who spoke with
Medscape agree that it's terribly dangerous to drink too much
water or too many sports drinks. But they are uneasy about
dehydration.
The U.S. Track & Field association Web site carries advice
from both Dr. Noakes and Douglas J. Casa, PhD. Dr. Casa is
director of athletic training education at the University of
Connecticut.
"I'd bet many more people running Atlanta's Peachtree Road
Race were dehydrated than overhydrated," Dr. Casa told WebMD.
"I am not downplaying hyponatremia. But the advice of don't
drink the water is not good advice for soccer and football
players and runners who are out there sweating."
Ds. Casa stresses appropriate fluid replacement. So does
Leslie Bonci, MPH, RD, director of sports nutrition at the
University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Bonci is the
nutritional consultant for the Pittsburgh Steelers and
Panthers as well as for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
"It is not one size fits all," Bonci told Medscape. "Each and
every person doesn't need same amount of fluids. Not every
body has the same sweat rate, the same sodium loss rate."
Safe Use of Water and Sports Drinks
So how much should people drink? "The solution is not to drown
oneself," Bonci says. "Water alone is not going to be the best
recommendation. You also need something with some carbohydrate
and some electrolyte in it. So water alone during exercise,
no. Drinking until you slosh or drown, no. The guidelines are
20 ounces of fluid before exercise, and over the course of
every hour of exercise drink between 28 to 40 ounces of fluid.
That is not enormous quantities."
Dt. Casa has a simple rule. The next time you set out to
exercise, weigh yourself before going out. When you get
back, step on the scale again. If you lost weight, you
should drink more the next time. If you gained weight, you
should drink less.
How much more or less? It's easy if you have a metric scale.
For every kilogram you lose (or gain) during exercise, you
need a liter more (or less) fluid. If you don't have a metric
scale, it's one liter of fluid per 2.2 pounds.
And don't forget salt, Bonci notes. It's also a good idea to
know your individual rate of salt loss. That can only be
measured in a sports clinic. But there's an easy way to tell
if you lose a lot of salt when you work out.
"Some people are truly greater salt losers than others," Bonci
says. "Those whose sweat stings their eyes, those who get that
crust on the skin, should not put all their faith in sports
drinks. Their salt should be from food. Those who lose salt
have to be more vigilant about adding maybe some extra soy
sauce to their meal the night before. And they have to be
careful about not overdoing it on fluids."

Hello all:
I have read all the posts, but will not be able to reply today. It has been a crazy day. As soon as the exterminator left this morning, my 2 daughters and I left (around 9:30 a.m.) and just got home a few minutes ago (around 4:00 p.m). I had to get the tires rotated on the truck before our trip, gas up, pick up a few groceries, return a pair of my daughter's shoes to Wal-Mart, return an item to Old Navy and one to Gymboree. Also had to pick up the portraits from Sears of my girls. Both of my daughters then had a dr's appt. at 3:15; one for a chronic cough, and the other for swollen lymph nodes behind ears. It turns out they are both alright. We have to leave around 4-5 a.m. tomorrow and I haven't packed a thing, so I gotta go do that.
The scale was good to me this morning. I was 124.5. I was that yesterday too. I was 126.5 on Sunday and Monday from my baking splurge, but at least I came back down. I always seem to fluctuate those 2-3 pounds, it seems.
I did get to the gym today and got my workout in; thank goodness since I will miss working out on Saturday morning.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and I hope to check in sometime Monday. My daughter has her last swim lesson at 10 a.m. and then we are meeting friends at Chuck-E-Cheese pizza for lunch. I'll probably jump on sometime Monday afternoon.
Gotta go do laundry & pack.
:dizzy:
Regarding BOB's post: I have a friend that moved here from the midwest a few years back and was drinking about a gallon of water a day since it was so hot here, and she was trying to compensate. She is probably 5'3", and all of 105-110 pounds. Well, she ended up in the hospital in critical condition because her organs were working overtime and couldn't flush it out as quick as it was coming. She was coming in and out of consciousness and was very, very ill. She did recover and still drinks plenty of water, but doesn't overdo it.
I'm really gonna go now.....really.......I mean it......see ya!

New Study About Women...(daily giggle)
A recent study in Wisconsin showed that the kind of male face a woman finds attractive differs depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle. For instance, during pre-ovulation, they found that most women are attracted to a rugged, hunter/outdoorsman type. During Ovulation, she is more attracted to men who have a strong yet sensitive and caring look. During the luteal phase, they are drawn to the devil-may-care, rakish and jovial type. During Menstruation, they are more prone to be attracted to a man with scissors shoved in his temple and a bat jammed up his *** while he is on fire. Further studies are expected.

WHY DID THE CHICKEN CROSS THE ROAD?
GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either with us or it is against us. There is no middle ground here.
AL GORE:
I invented the chicken. I invented the road. Therefore, the chicken
crossing the road represented the application of these two different functions of government in a new, reinvented way designed to bring greater services to the American people.
RALPH NADER:
The chicken's habitat on the original side of the road had been
polluted by unchecked industrialist greed. The chicken did not
reach the unspoiled habitat on other side of the road because
it was crushed by the wheels of a gas-guzzling SUV.
PAT BUCHANAN:
To steal a job from a decent, hardworking American.
RUSH LIMBAUGH:
I don't know why the chicken crossed the road, but I'll bet it was
getting a government grant to cross the road, and I'll bet someone out there is already forming a support group to help chickens with crossing-the-road syndrome. Can you believe this? How much more of this can real Americans take? Chickens crossing the road paid for by their tax dollars, and when I say tax dollars, I'm talking about your money, money the government took from you to build roads for chickens to cross.
JERRY FALWELL: The chicken was gay! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "othe side." That's what they call it -- the other side. Yes, my friends, tha chicken is gay. And, if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side."
DR. SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road?
Did he cross it with a toad?
Yes, the chicken crossed the road,
But why it crossed, I've not been told!
ERNEST HEMINGWAY
To die. In the rain. Alone.
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.:
I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross roads
without having their motives called into question.
GRANDPA:
In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road.
Someone told us that the chicken crossed the road, and
that was good enough for us.
BARBARA WALTERS:
Isn't that interesting? In a few moments we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heartwarming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting and went on to accomplish its life-long dream of crossing the road.
JOHN LENNON:
Imagine all the chickens crossing roads in peace.
ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.
KARL MARX:
It was a historical inevitability.
SADDAM HUSSEIN:
This was an unprovoked act of rebellion, and we were quite
justified in dropping 50 tons of nerve gas on it.
VOLTAIRE:
I may not agree with what the chicken did, but I will defend to
the death its right to do it.
CAPTAIN KIRK:
To boldly go where no chicken has gone before.
FOX MULDER:
You saw it cross the road with your own eyes! How many more
chickens have to cross before you believe it?
SIGMUND FREUD:
The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed
the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.
BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken 2003, which will not only cross
roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and
balance your checkbook - and Internet Explorer is an inextricable
part of eChicken.
MARTHA STEWART:
No one called to warn me which way that
chicken was going. I had a standing order at the farmer's market
to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No
little bird gave me any insider information.
ALBERT EINSTEIN:
Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move
beneath the chicken?
BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What do you mean
by chicken? Could you define chicken, please?
THE BIBLE:
And God came down from the heavens, and He said unto the
chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road." And the chicken crossed
the road, and there was much rejoicing.
FRANK PERDUE:
You mean, I missed one?
My favorite one was Al Gore:
AL GORE:
I invented the chicken. I invented the road. Therefore, the chicken
crossing the road represented the application of these two different functions of government in a new, reinvented way designed to bring greater services to the American people.

The white basmati rice tastes awesome. If you can't get them to eat brown try that.

11 pounds is a great weight loss!
Well survived TOM, barely. I swear this one knocked me down for a week. No gym at all! Been eating ok, just no exercise. I never had PMS and now I understand what all the hype is about. At least I lost those 5 evil pounds from bloat.

Well, today was fun, but hectic. I got to decorate birthday cakes for the case again. I was having a blast doing it too! Unfortunately, I got accosted by lots of customers, and ended up working an extra half an hour. Its ok, especially since my hours were cut in half for next week.
I did not get the chance to step on the scale this morning for WIW, and I sure as heck am not getting on now! Maybe in the morning, if I can remember! I work again tomorrow though. To be honest, I am looking forward to having a shorter work week next week! School starts on Monday, and I will be able to enjoy the quiet house, with no teenager begging for the car! ;)
The afore mentioned teen is not happy with her parents tonight. Her new cellphone was confiscated due to a horrendously high overage on her cellphone last month...including two $20 calls from a young man while we were at the beach in Florida. All while MY cellphone, with FREE long distance was sitting about five feet away...and her parents were sound asleep! (GATOR, I can identify with your comment about it being SO hard sometimes...)
So, Monet is tired, and needs to chill out for an hour before bed.
Love you all!
Man, I was going to go back and try and post some replies, but for some reason, I must have missed two pages of posts! Not sure how I did that, but it gives credence to my claim of being tired, does it not?? :)
FILLISE: When you comin' to Hotlanta?
BOB: My store is on Peachtree Ind, about three miles north of I-85. What route do you take when you go through Atlanta? And when are you going to be pedalling through?
JECRITES: I know how you feel about your MIL. Mine never made any concessions for me when I was trying to follow a special diet. It took my very headstrong, hot tempered, sharp tongued sister in law to finally get through to her. She is more accomodating to my SIL than me, but she is better. It helped that her doctor put her on a restricted diet due to high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Of course, he put her on a low fat, low sodium diet... DUH! And she won't listen to me....
ROSALIE: A whole potful? The bowl it is made in is as big as a small bath tub! You could sit in it! Man, I would be SO sick! LOL
JACK: Good for you getting that scale to move down again, and getting back on track after vacation!
Oh, man, I know I missed people...and I am SO sorry! I hate doing that, but my brain refuses to think tonight! Hopefully, tomorrow!

Hello! I’ m back to reading posts this morning that I copied last night. I realize that I’m a day behind with these, so I hope that will not be a problem because I’m so happy to be able to post some responses! :cp:
WIW! I’m down 2 lbs from the weekend. 148 this am. Not wonderful, but I’ll take it & work on getting it down more.
Anyway, last night I posted about the frozen dish that I picked up at WalMart. Chicken Toscana Bowl by Chef’s Choice. It was VERY good. Low Carbs, lots of chicken, no rice or pasta to deal with. I really enjoyed it. Hoping to hear if any of you have tried these dinners & what your thoughts are on them.
Now back to some replies.
angehaley, 11 lb loss since June 1st is not bad. Often your loss depends a lot on how much you have to loose. Since I have been away from the board for a while, I’m not up to date on newbies. How old is dd? You’ll be back in the swing of things before too long. I takes a while sometimes. My youngest dd, Jodi is expecting her first baby in late Sept. She’s 28 I’m afraid she still does not realize what she’s in for with raising a child or with the labor & delivery part either. Well, she’ll soon find out :D
BeachFan, Sounds like you did great on raw veggies today. I brought more fresh veggies to work with me today. Fresh cukes & tomatoes, & some celery along with my fruit. I find fresh fruit helps me to curb those hunger times.
Monet, Games! They are so additive to me. Once I start playing I don’t want to stop! I’m sure it must be hard to work with cakes/icing & not taste once in a while. Try to be strong! :D
BigKnightsMomma, Thanks so much for posting news of our fearless leader. What a bummer!! Poor thing. Not a very good way to end a vacation. So how are you doing??? Hope you’re enjoying life & not working too hard.
Rosalie Looks like you lead a great example with all you veggie intake yesterday! Glad to hear that you are enjoying your retirement. I hope to do that one day too. LOL
fruitloupe, So glad that you checked in! Girl, I can relate. I have been away from the board myself & for much the same reasons. I was not eating well & gained 15 lbs. I did not feel good about myself at all & felt like a failure, but you know what?? Sometimes we allow ourselves to fail for different reasons. Good or bad, we are NOT fail proof. Just get back in here & get motivated to get back on plan. You can do it. We all can, it’s just a matter of getting focused & allowing ourselves to get over the hurt or whatever reasons we back slid. We can only change one day at a time. Come on, we’re here for you. I’m sorry about your struggle. I know you are hurting from what you said about not getting pregnant, but you know that gaining the weight back will not help you. As a matter of fact, often the weight loss seems to help. I pray that it will happen for you, but meanwhile, go on your vacation, then get back with a new resolve. Look on the bright side of things & get on board!
BOB, Why is BOB not sleeping??? I she too wound up from work? Did the doc take you off your medication? WHAT??? Loosen up girl & count the sheep or better yet get a CERTA? The commerical says it’s a sure cure :D Yea right, huh? Hope you can sleep better tonight!
QUILTER/Kim, WTG on sticking OP & dropping the couple of lbs Kim! 8/10th of a lb since last weigh in is not bad since you did drop those few lbs. It could have been a lot worse! Still doing jewelry? Hey, glad to heAR THAT I’m not the only one with a messy dining room table ;)
Zanne Glad you found your way back to the board too. Sounds like you’re ready to get down to work. Good going on the exercises. I hear you about the measurements. Mine came when I could not get into my size 8 anymore & my size 10 feels uncomfortable. NOT GOOD!
jecrites, Great going on staying OP without the cravings. Keep up the great work!
Country, Gee, what’s up besides the scale? You should be dropping the lbs too, but go with how your clothes are fitting. If your partner thinks you look smaller, what are your clothes saying? Maybe the extra weight is muscle? Smothered okra & tomatoes, yum yum! Can’t wait to get some from the garden. Should be very soon I think.
FILLISE, Sorry to hear you’re getting too much rain. It’s not been too bad here for a change. It sure helped to cool things down with the shower we had yesterday afternoon. Heat index is suppose to be about 110 today. I believe it!
Thunder Looks like you’re getting plenty fresh/raw veggies. That’s great. The okra sounds really great! LOL Hang in there, you know that scale will come down soon.
Pancho, Keep up the good work on the veggies!! As a nurse, I can relate to what you said to Fruit about the pregnant woman you saw in the ER. It’s hard sometimes to see things that look like it’s injustice. We do not understand, but someday we will.
Jack-K WTG on the 4 lb loss! Keep up the great work & you’ll be back to pre-vacation wt before long!
woodfrogs, Hi, glad you survived vacation. Now you can get back OP.
Bashful Glad to hear that you have recognized your mistake & stopped buying into it. Sounds like this photographer is trying to blame you for his mistake. Who took the pictures? Him or you? We are NOT perfect. Don’t let others convince you that you are a failure.
Gatorgal What wonderful advice to Missy! Sounds like you’ve given that a lot of thought & have a sound grip on things. I know it must be hard not having kids.
Heartmom, If I’m not mistaken, the recommend fruit intake is 2 per day. I still follow the fruit rule of 30 prior to meals or at least 2 hours after.
groovia, Sounds like you did make a few wise choices even though you allowed yourself to indulge some fro your BD celebration. HAPPY BIRTHDAY :hb: :hat: :gift:
:hb: :cp: :hat: :gift: :grouphug:
Oh, I talked to Sabrina/Tranquil tonight on my way home. She said she's doing ok. Is remodeling her house, so has been staying at her granny's. Is back OP. Sounded great!
Well looks like I’m caught up to last night’s posts. The night is too short to read todays, so I’ll work on them tomorrow at work. Nite all!

 Hi Everyone
Wow today was so so busy for me. Went to work before 7a.m. and came home after 7 p.m. Lunch was a meeting so I never had a break. Then when I came home my 2 teens and I had to run out to the mall getting some last minute things for school. They register tomorrow for school...whew!
Weighed in this morning and it said 173...actually went down to 172 and then popped back up. That felt good. Lunch today was put in front of me because it was a luncheon type meal. The good thing is it was baked grouper over spinach. But not enough to eat...I was starving this afternoon.
Thought you might be interested in an interview that Seventeen magazine did with Ruben Studdard (the American Idol). His attitude is incredible and so I wanted to pass on some of his thoughts. As you know he is a big guy and they were asking him about that. They asked him..."it's great that you are so confident. Were you always so comfortable with yourself?" He replied, "Well being a big dude, society has a stereotype that big people are lazy and don't take care of themselves. But I've always been on top of myself with clothes just to make sure that I'm looking good. You have to learn that if you start making sure you feel good, everything will be ok."
So often we focus on our negative traits or problems in our lives that we don't realize that just by having a positve attitude and taking care of ourselves and our looks that we would feel better. So I wanted to share this with everyone tonight.
Take Care and take Ruben's advice...make sure you feel good, and everything will be ok.

I was with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time, and she just got SO excited when she saw the chinese buffet place.
I will recover. I can be strong.

Here's a quick hello for this Thursday Morning. I hope you all have great days. I hope we all can report our individual successes tonight.
MELF---My mom used to say that our dining room table was so piled up it looked like it was packed and ready to head straight out the front door. So I guess that's in my genes. You made me laugh when you commented on the state of yours.
MONET---Glad to hear your job is going well. You sound so busy. Are you getting any "Monet Time"?
BOB---I forgot to ask . . . did my cursing you with IBS ever lighten up for you? So sorry about that! It was kind of a coincidence wasn't it? That article about the water was really interesting. Thanks for sharing.
WOODFROGS---How did you like Cedar Point. I grew up in northeastern OH and we used to go there all the time. My hubby is a rollercoaster maniac and every summer we say we're going to Cedar Point, but we never get there. I'm sure most of the food there is starchy, illegal carbs.
JACKK---I forgot to say good luck reaching your goal. You can do it!!! Remember, each meal, snack, day that you waver and eat the wrong things is keeping you that much farther from your goal. We have to keep moving in the right direction.
Well, take care everybody. Who's getting on that exercise board today?????

Hi gals,
Today started with the "birth" of two brand new monarch butterflies, as they emerged from their chrysalides this morning about 8-8:30. Here is a picture. The one on the left has been out for about 25 minutes. The one on the right has just emerged. His wings are still limp and he will take about 2 hours for them to fill with fluid and harden so that he can fly.
GatorGal
08-07-2003, 09:37 AM
Here's a picture of that same butterfly, the one on the right that has just emerged, a few minutes later. He actually lost his grip on the now empty chrysalis and fell to the floor of the cage. He was on his back thrashing around, so I righted him and guided him up onto this branch in the cage. He will rest there a couple of hours while his wings "grow" and then I will release them into the garden. Notice how his wings are all "wavy". They will fill out in just a few minutes so that he will look "normal." Then he will rest so that they can harden.
GatorGal
08-07-2003, 11:04 AM
Ooh, the board was down for about 90 minutes. I tried to post some more pix. but just was able to get back on now.
This is a neat picture of a monarch chrysalis right before the butterfly emerges. Remember the jade green picture of the chrysalis I posted last week. Right before the butterfly emerges, the chrysalis becomes transparent and you can see the scrunched up butterfly in its chrysalis. It looks mostly black because its body and lots of its wings are black. You can barely make out some orange.
GatorGal
08-07-2003, 11:05 AM
The next two pictures are of a monarch emerging from its chrysalis. I took two pictures and they are in order. You can see the clear chrysalis that is now empty.
GatorGal
08-07-2003, 11:07 AM
You can see that its wings are still pretty small and not yet in "butterfly shape."
GatorGal
08-07-2003, 11:10 AM
Last picture today: This is the same butterfly a bit later with his wings fully expanded. He will rest for about 1.5 hours more. I think that I will have another "birth" tomorrow because another chrysalis is getting pretty transparent. And then about 4-5 days later the last two will come out. I'm a butterfly midwife!!

Good Morning,
I saw that someone had posted about the new One-A-Day Weight Smart vitamins. I've been using them for awhile now, I figure if I'm going to take a multi-vitamin anyway, why not?
Cool butterfly pics! We did the caterpillar to butterfly thing when I was younger, and then I've done it with my kids too. It's always amazing to me.
Had a good workout yesterday and also stayed OP all day!
Breakfast: egg and cheese on rye toast
snack: cherries
lunch: wasa crisp bread, cottage cheese(low fat, snack size), jello(sugar free snack size)
dinner: steak and cesar salad
Quilter - Cedar Point is cool! I also enjoyed Soak City. But definitely NOT a place to stay OP. So I enjoyed what they had and tried not to let it bother me too much, it was vacation, after all.
Hope that everyone has a great day!

Hello everyone.
Nothing going on again today. The house is still in a big mess and I can't stand it.
Ok, yesterday I had some broccoli, squash, cukes, tomatoes, spinich (raw), lettuce, and some cantaloupe.
One thing that I've found so funny in doing this WOE is that all of my kids like broccoli!!! Last night when dinner was ready and on the table, we were fixing the kids plates, and my youngest said that all the food was nasty to her EXCEPT for her broccoli. Of course I had to laugh at that.
Quilter, Jack-k, Heartmom,& Monet, I understand that I can't get her to do this WOE. Why would she want to do this when she doesn't even go by the "diets" the docs give her for her hubby to go by? She really got me one day about a month or so ago though. She told me that her cholesterol was up when she had a check-up, and she went home and told her hubby that they weren't going to eat any more pork chops that everything was gonna be chicken. Of course when she told me this, I once again suggested that she do SB, and once again got blown off. I honestly think she does crap like that out of spite. She does exercise every once in a while, and she's forever talking about one of the videos she's gotten, but when you eat crappy foods, the exercise, (the small amounts she does anyway), just doesn't do anything for you. I'm gonna talk to my SIL (her daughter) and see if she's got any ideas on how to "turn on the lights" for her. There may be nothing that will do it, but then again she may have some ideas I haven't thought of that could work. FIL doesn't care what gets cooked for dinner as long as there's something there for him to eat, and in the last 10 1/2 years, I can't remember him snacking any. He would do good on SB. Oh well, enough of that stuff.
Ok, I'm off to figure out what's for dinner and get these kids to cleaning up their huge mess in my living room. Talk to y'all later.
Jenn
P.S. Did I tell you all how wonderful I think you are? Well I'm telling you all now, you are the most wonderful people I've ever come to know.
Rosalie

Good Morning All
Just a quickie to post the veggies that I had yesterday:
1 1/2 cups green beans
5 oz sweet potato
1/2 cup carrots
1/2 tomato, few pieces of lettuce (on sandwich)
Nectarine.
No time for any more at the moment. Have to get in the shower and get out to do some grocery shopping before lunch. Have a bowling tournament to go to this afternoon to help with serving some snacks. I'll try to keep my lips taped when the goodies are served.
Beautiful butterfly pictures GATOR. Thanks for sharing.
Have a good day everyone. Will try to catch up later.
Marie.
P.S. I haven't heard anything from Deb but she did say that she had to be back by Thursday for a hair appointment. She has her cousins wedding to go to tomorrow.

Good Thursday afternoon.
Finally amde it to the grocery. My cupboards were bare and I mean bare. and now so is my pocketbook:(
My veggies yesterday were:
Celery
broccoli, carrots, squash
salad greens
We went to Red Lobster for dinner last night. They have the best mixed veggies. I was so good and pleasatnly full while DD and DH stuffed themselves ( and I do mean stuffed) with fettucini. I felt so good. Only had 1 bite of the cheese biscuit (hey better then 2 or 3 whole ones). I was quite proud.
Veggies for today will be
celery
salad greens
cabbage (slaw)
navy beans
spinach (maybe)
I have really been conscienceous about the veggies this week. I have already met each goal. Thanks Rosalie for a good challenge.
Got home from dinner and grocery around 9:30. Went right down and worked out for 30 minutes. Got up at 5:30 and walked 2 miles. Will probably walk 3 miles tonight withDH and then workout. Exercise has been good this week. Now to keep it up. 7 of those 12 vacation pounds are gone. Got to keep going.
Monet, sounds like lots of people will be glad when school starts. I don't blame you for taking away DD's phone. I used to make mine pay for any overages. Now they keep it under the limit mostly. Tough love?? Now keep those fingers out of that icing.
Melf, congrats on those 2 lbs. Be happy that scale is moving in the right direction. I'm going to walmart to check out those dinners. I need something to bring for lunch that is quick.
Beachfan, sounds like you need a break. I hate it when work is so busy you can't think straight. The only good thing is when it is that busy you don't have time to think about food. I like Rueben's advice. So true.
Groovia, you have just fallen down, get right back up and you will be fine.
Kim, if we would only think abut that before we put it in our mouths we would be ok. I have been on the exercise board today.
Gator, your butterflies are beautiful. Nature is amazing.
Jecrites, I wouldn't worry about your MIL. There is nothing you can do for her.
Bob, interesting article. I knew if you drank too much water you could flush out your electrolytes. Glad you got some much needed sleep. Really liked the new study on women. ha
Pancho, congrats on being down those 2 lbs. Have a great vacation.
Cherylco, glad your survived TOM. I would hate to think it could kill us. I'm like you, really never had PMS.
Rosalie, you have a good day.
Have a great day. Hope to be back later.

Good Afternoon Everyone!:D
Where to begin...:?:
First: I just want to thank everyone for all of the wonderful support and advice that you've given since my post on Tuesday about being a failure and emotional eating (esp. Crystle, Jackie, Gator, Bob, beachfan, & Fillise; sorry if I missed anyone I actually still have two tabs of posts to read). It really helps to know that I am not alone AND that I am not a failure. Unfortunataly this is the first time I've had to check in since I made that post because life has continued to be like Murphy's Law (whatever can go wrong does go wrong, esp. yesterday), BUT I've managed to keep things little, complain some, but not eat (not emotionally anyway). And today I am down 2 lbs from last week (even though I got TOM today:( ). That's a total of 3.5 in three weeks :dizzy: Not Bad (especially after this weekend)!:D
Second: My mom sent me this, just thought I'd share (It's from a site called realage):
A Slimming Pre-Meal Practice
Eating a piece of fruit before each meal may help to melt pounds away. In a recent study, women who ate a small apple or pear before each meal lost more weight than women who skipped the fruit but followed the same reduced-calorie diet. Fiber-filled fruits help to satiate hunger, which probably results in lower calorie intake from the meal, researchers speculate.
I thought this was interesting b/c it's what I've been doing most days for breakfast and lunch and the one day I didn't do it I was hungrier. Just food for thought, so to speak.
Heartmom, Dh and I were so mad Tuesday night about Ralphie not winning and what made it worse was that Dat did. We don't think he's funny at all and he always tells the same jokes. The American public must have terrible taste in comics (or NBC rigged it).
Kelly, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!
Thanks so much to all!
Have a wonderful SB day!

Bashful, Glad you are feeling better about yourself. Congrats on those 2 lbs. More will melt right off, just stay op. Interesting about the fruit. I always eat mine after the meal and I'm stuffed and can't finish it.
Have a great evening everyone.

[COLOR=red]:o Hello Ladies,
I am sorry for not getting back on this PLACE OF HELP like I said I would. I do feel really bad. I appreciate and thank all who welcomed me back. I have kinda of lost my zeal and I want it back. I know that I need to come to this board regardless of how well I've done. I took for granted the accompliments I had achieved. I know it is never too late. I brought in stuff when all of my family was here for a reunion and now I had a taste for it again.
I will have to fight now, to get on track again. No one could have told me that I would be in this situation again. Whew, I feel like screaming out loud. I've got to go and see my doctor Monday, and he ain't gonna be too happy. He is a wonderful doctor, I must say. Hopefully, just seeing him will give me the boost I need.
It was good to see the progress of those who have done well, since the last time I was here.
I've got to go now. I will get back where I need to be and that is HERE. A WORD TO THE WISE, THIS PLACE IS WHERE WE GET HELP, PLEASE DON'T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED. IF YOU ONLY HAVE A SECOND TO COME HERE, COME, SO YOU DON'T SLIDE TOO FAR DOWN HILL. BUT IN THE EVENT THAT YOU ARE DOWN HILL, THIS PLACE IS A SAFE HAVEN.
Love you all,

REAL WOMAN TIPS TO MY REAL WOMEN FRIENDS!!!
LIVE WELL: LAUGH OFTEN: LOVE MUCH
Some helpful tips to live by . . .
Ladies - If you accidentally over-salt a dish while it's still
cooking, drop
in a peeled potato and it will absorb the excess salt for an instant
"fix-me-up."
Real Woman - If you over-salt a dish while you are cooking, that's
too damn
bad.
Please recite with me, The Real Women's motto:
"I made it and you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes."
Ladies - Cure for headaches: Take a lime, cut it in half and rub it
on
your forehead. The throbbing will go away.
Real Woman - Take a lime, mix it with tequila, chill and drink. You
might still have the headache, but who cares?
Ladies - Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of a
sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.
Real Woman - Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone,
for Pete's
sake. You are probably lying on the couch, with your feet up, eating
it
anyway.
Ladies - To keep potatoes from budding, place an apple in the bag
with the
potatoes.
Real Woman - Buy boxed mashed potato mix and keep it in the pantry
for up to
year.
Ladies - When a cake recipe calls for flouring the baking pan, use a
bit of
the dry cake mix instead and there won't be any white mess on the
inside of the
cake.
Real Woman - Go to the bakery - they'll even decorate it for you.
Ladies - Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking
to yield a beautiful glossy finish.
Real Woman - Sara Lee frozen pie directions do not include brushing
egg whites over the crust, so I just don't do it.
Ladies - If you have a problem opening jars, try using latex
dishwashing
gloves. They give a non slip grip that makes opening jars easy.
Real Woman - Go ask the very cute neighbor guy to do it.
And finally the most important tip....
Ladies - Don't throw out all that leftover wine. Freeze into ice
cubes for
future use in casseroles and sauces.
Real Woman - Leftover wine??
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail...but, a true friend
will
be sitting next to you saying, "Damn...that was fun!"

Thursday Night---
Hello All. I just got home from work. Whew, glad that one is out of the way. Paul's working a bit late tonight, so I'm on my own for the next few hours. I think I'll try to tackle the laundry and ponder my beads to see what new bracelet I can come up with. Yes, MELF, I am still ont he jewelry kick. But I also started a quilt top a few weeks ago. So that's calling my name too. I have to be in the exact proper mood to sew and I'm not sure PMS time is the best time to do that.
I have been having great luck getting some of these regained pounds off. On Sunday or Monday I weighed in at 191.5. Eeeek. Tuesday morning it was down to 189.5. Yesterday 188.5 and today 187.5. Thank goodness!!! I say this, because I think for me weighing every day really helps me stay focused and on the right track. I thought getting weighed at WW once a week would do it, but I usually don't start panicking about that until Monday afternoon (with the meeting on Tuesday evening). So for now I will do this. Do you oldies remember how DEB used to weigh everyday and sometimes even many more than one time a day? I think that was one of her ways of keeping on program. I know how I want to avoid the scale at all costs when I know there's going to be no cause for celebration. But perhaps that's the time to get on the scales. I think this theory kind of goes along with what AGAPE just said about getting on the board. Many times when my eating is off, I avoid the board. When that's exactly where I should be. Anyways, just a thought.
BOB---Glad you got the sleep and glad your sympathy IBS went away. You certainly don't want any of that for your trip. Where are you going? North Carolina??
JACKK---That one glass of wine will be nice and won't ruin anything. Enjoy it! Hope you have a great weekend.
BASHFUL---It's so difficult to see a loved one not taking proper care of his/her body. I hope that at some point your MIL and FIL get it that they can control much of their health. My SIL has always been heavy and had the high blood pressure and the high cholesterol. Well, at the doctor's this past winter, they did an EKG and it turned up not good. So she had to go for all the stress tests and further things. She said that was a brick to her forehead that finally woke her up to start taking care of the one body God gave her. She's been doing really well. Sad that it took something so scary to do it, but at least she heard the warning signal. Of course, my brother if much heavier than she is and he's not getting it at all. Still eating the heaping bowls of ice cream every night. Ugh!!!
GATOR---Love the pictures. They are beautiful, and it's so interesting to watch the changes. I like the way you charted the one little guy's progress. That's just so cool. I must have missed when you told how you got into this. Where do the chrysalises come from? Do you buy them or are they from wild butterflies in your garden? What's the life expectancy of a butterfly? Do you have any other kinds? We get a lot of monarchs up here. But I see other kinds flying around my butterfly bush out back. I just don't know all the names.
WOODFROGS---Glad to hear you liked Cedar Point. We have Kings Island down here in Cincinnati. My husband practically grew up at KI. But now it's kind of lost it's small theme park feel because Paramount bought it. Now it's all about their movies. But we still manage to have a good time. I think Cedar Point is still privately owned. We watch all those theme park shows on the Travel Channel.
Okay, well, that's it for me. I just had a quick nap on the couch and could barely get my contacts out. Didn't mean to do that. Tomorrow is Friday and let's hear it for the weekend. The weekend makes me nervous because that's when I usually blow it.
Take care.

Hi Everyone!
I'm going to try and upload a picture of my latest jewelry creations. I saw a bracelet on Sunday at the beadfest which was the inspiration for these. The $35 price tag was the real inspiration for me to make them myself. The toggle clasp is made of a fancy button and a loop made of seed beads. Cool, huh? I would have never thought this up on my own. I'm a great copy cat!

:) Hi All,
Well I did much better with my veggies today.
lunch I had stewed tomatoes and a salad
dinner I had tomatoe and grilled asparagus
Quilter...I want to tag onto your thoughts. I weigh everyday and it does keep me on track. I also try to always come on the board at least one time a day.
When I gained all my weight back after I reached goal, I stopped weighing everyday and I left the board. I also stopped journaling my food. ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE CRUCIAL...
Quilter your bracelets are lovely.
BOB glad you're better
To everyone else have a great day tomorrow.

Hi,
I just bought the book recently and have been reading it with great interest.
I have been on Atkins for about 1 year, and am looking for something just a little bit more healthy. I have looked into the South Beach Diet as well, but I think Sugar Busters, although similiar to South Beach is the best one.
Can I join in your daily support?
Just a bit more reading to do and I think I can figure this out with your help. I will certainly feel strange eating carbs, and I hope I don't gain a whole lot back:(
Will try to check back later.

Evening everyone! Whoa, what a day! I worked and came home, tired and hungry. My son was here for lunch, and a few minutes after I walked in the door, the phone rang. It was a friend of mine who was on her way over to take me to her office to get my vacuum cleaner fixed. (she sells Rainbows...) When we got back, she came in and I fixed her lunch. It was good talking to her. She is the mother of my daughter's dear friend who died in a car wreck several years ago. I don't get to spend time with her often, but I love it when I do. We have so much in common, from SB which she follows in a modified way, to cooking and pictures, etc. She left about the time Tom got home from work, and I was invaded by all the grown kids and their spouses, and friends for dinner about an hour later! I made stewed beef, brown rice, salad, broccoli slaw, and LeSueur peas.
Tomorrow is going to be my day off, but the schedule is already full! How I long for a day off with nothing to do!
I resisted the buttercream icing this morning. Before you give me a pat on the back, let me confess that I did succumb to a rather generous taste of blueberry bavarian cream.
Hopefully, I will be able to get on in the morning and post some replies. I really miss spending time on here! :(

Here is an early Friday Funny:
The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with the US auto makers for the past five years, whereby the auto makers were installing black boxes in four-wheel drive pickup trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash.
They were surprised to find in 45 of the 50 states the last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were, "Oh, ****!"
Only the states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas were different, where over 89.3 percent of the final words were: "Hold my beer and watch this."

And another one....
Revenge is sweet
After 17 years of marriage, a man dumped his wife for a younger woman.
The downtown luxury apartment was in his name and he wanted to remain there with his new love so he asked the wife to move out and then he would buy her another place.
The wife agreed to this, but asked that she be given 3 days on her own there, to pack up her things.
While he was gone, the first day she lovingly put her personal belongings into boxes and crates and suitcases.
On the second day, she had the movers come and collect her things.
On the third day, she sat down for the last time at their candlelit Dining table, soft music playing in the background, and feasted on a pound of shrimp and a bottle of Chardonnay.
When she had finished, she went into each room and deposited a few of the resulting shrimp shells into the hollow of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.
The husband came back, with his new girl, and all was bliss for the first few days. Then it started; slowly but surely. Clueless, the man could not explain why the place smelled so bad.
They tried everything; cleaned & mopped and aired the place out. Vents were checked for dead rodents, carpets were steam cleaned, Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in, the carpets were replaced, and on it went.
Finally, they could take it no more and decided to move. The Moving company arrived and did a very professional packing job, taking everything to their new home...
...including the curtain rods.

Kim--Glad you liked the pictures. We started our butterfly garden about a year ago when our next door neighbor cut down his 15 foot hedge to about 3 feet. All of a sudden a big shady spot in our yard was getting a lot of sun. So it was a great place to plant flowers, since most of our yard is shady. We decided to try to attract butterflies with the flowers and so we selected plants we read were ones butterflies liked to nectar on. Soon we had lots of butterflies--monarchs, eastern black swallowtails, giant swallowtails, tiger swallowtails, gulf fritillaries, white peacocks, queens, zebra longwings, red admirals, and gold rim swallowtails. We discovered that the butterflies would lay eggs on certain plants specific to each species. The butterfly life cycle is egg to caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly, which then mates and lays eggs to start the cycle all over again. We don?t buy the chrysalides. We bring the caterpillars in from the garden and put them in our ?butterfly cage? and feed them their preferred food until they make a chrysalis. Most butterflies live about a week, but some, like the monarchs live up to 6 months.
I was thinking about the picture of the chrysalis that you can see the butterfly through. It reminds me of some of us. Fruit, it definitely reminds me of you. Actually, the picture of the butterfly that has just emerged from its chrysalis reminds me of you more. But it also makes me think of us and our struggles. In the picture you can see through the blackish outer covering to glimpse something beautiful inside. It is not as pretty as when it emerges. The butterflies are stunning when they are in full flight, wouldn't you agree? But so often, we think of ourselves by our "chrysalis covering" when we really should focus on the butterfly inside. That little fellow has great potential. Even the butterfly with the limp wings goes on to spread his wings. So, let's not try to climb back into that chrysalis when we are challenged by whatever. Let's drag ourselves with our limp little wings up a branch and do what it takes to soar.
Have a great evening all.

Yes, tis I!
Okay, I know, it's been eons since I've been able to post, and unfortunately, this is going to be a post done in a micro minute, or it may seem, I just don't have the time right now to do a post but did want to get on here to say I'm still alive and kicking!
Too many things going on, don't even have time enough to reply to the numerous e-mails I found waiting for me upon coming home. Since I got back at 3:30am on Tuesday morning I've been running non-stop. Have my cousins wedding tomorrow and will probably stay in a hotel overnight so we don't have to drive home after midnight 2 hours, plus a breakfast at my families house Sunday morning. LAUREN still has NOTHING to wear - need I say more? I'll be running like a chicken with no head today, last minute AND she doesn't find things to fit her easily at all. It's been one thing after another - had to even get 2 new tires on my car - if you thought it ended with the transmission, think again:nono:
I haven't been able to read the board, so I haven't a clue what's been happening. Sorry:^:
I'll be back on the board to start it on Monday, unless something unexpected happens-at this point, I'm hoping nothing will, but my Grandmother is on her last days it seems (hoping they can get her to the wedding as it seems to be the only thing keeping her alive at this time-they may transport her by ambulance). G-D forbid she should pass away during the wedding!
Gotta run - miss you all, really do! Can't wait to get back on the board, in more ways than one. WELCOME TO ALL THE NEWBIES if there are any.:D
Oh, toe, still very sore, esp. after I've hit it twice since I've been home!:fr:

Welcome and we will try to answer any of your questions. We welcome all with open arms...
DEBBIE...:) :D :) So glad you are back some :p We missed you. Hope the wedding goes well and Lauren gets a dress. Hope your grandmother does ok...:?:
No time to post anything else right now. Off to the highschool to register my baby as a freshman.:?: They are growing so fast.

We had another birth today, at 8:01 am. I got some really neat pictures of the new butterfly emerging. I hope you enjoy them. When I watch the butterflies so carefully as they emerge and sit to get strength I have noticed that there are slight variations in each one. Even though they are "the same", they are each unique and special. Same way with us. Don't think of yourself as "just me, someone who needs to lose weight." Think of yourself as unique, with great potential to bring beauty to your world.
Have a great day, all you "butterflies." May you soar today!

The above picture shows 2 monarch chrysalides which have about a week to go before "hatching." Notice the gold band near the top of each one. In real life it is like 23 ct. gold. There are also several gold flecks near the bottom of each chrysalis. The black chrysalis has split open and the new monarch is just emerging. The moment of "birth!!"
This picture is a few seconds later.

This picture is not quite as clear. Still having some problems with perfect focus. Still a few seconds later. The picture in the next frame is looking down on one of the butterflies that were born yesterday. I took each one out to my garden perched on a stick, and they rested out there for another 45 minutes before flying.

Last picture.
I did not get my walk in yesterday. I got so involved with the butterflies that my window of opportunity--which means when it is still not too hot--vanished. I also had to go get my hair cut, so any free time I had was in the afternoon. By then we were having one of our daily thunder storms. We have had a ton of rain this summer.
I also have been working on a talk that I will be giving at a women's retreat coming up in September. I start my French class on Aug 26 so decided I better get cracking and get the talk done before I get overwhelmed with the French. I definitely want to keep up with all those young college students.
I also signed up to be a mentor for a high school student this year. I did this once before and found it both rewarding and productive.
Gotta go and get cleaned up.

Good Morning All
I didn't have to worry about the goodies at the bowling tournament yesterday. When I got there they didn't need me, the snacks had been done earlier as the schedule of games was changed. I'd taken a plate of fruit cake that I'd had in the freezer. Didn't want to chance bringing that home so left it there. Someone is sure to finish it all off. I used to love this cake, couldn't stop eating it once I had started but the last time I had a piece I really didn't like it anymore - much too sweet. My eating has been good this week and I must continue staying strictly op through the weekend. I am going to be away next week staying in a hotel so don't know how the eating will be. I will do my best to stay op but can be difficult when eating out all the time. I will not be on vacation. I am going for a training session for a temporary job which I am due to start next month. So I won't be around at all next week as I probably won't have access to a computer while away. Here's what veggies I had yesterday:
3/4 cup cauliflower
2 medium carrots
caesar salad
About 1 cup of grapes (or more)
Pear
Jack-K - Glad you enjoyed the veggie challenge. I see you have done really well with it. WTG on getting rid of those vacation pounds. All that exercise must be helping it to come off.
Bashful - Thanks for posting that interesting piece about having fruit before a meal. Most of the time I eat it after a meal. Maybe I'll change my habits and see what happens.
Quilter - You are one busy lady with your jewellery making and now quilting. I love your bracelets. Glad to see those regained pounds are quickly disappearing. I've been weighing daily again too. I'm afraid if I don't things will get out of hand.
BOB - Glad you had a better day yesterday.
ZuzeQ - Welcome to SB. You can certainly join us on our daily support board. We look forward to hearing from you again. If you have any questions about this woe just ask - someone is sure to be able to help you.
Monet - Sounds like you had a houseful for dinner yesterday. That was nice that you were able to spend some time with your friend.
Thunderwoman - That's a good feeling isn't it when the clothes start to feel loser. You must be losing inches. I'm sure the pounds will start coming off soon too.
Deb - Welcome back. :cb:. We missed you. Good luck on your shopping trip for Lauren. Hope the wedding goes well and your gm can make it to the wedding.
I have a question for all you Floridians and anyone else who has visited there. I am planning on a visit to there again in December with my son and his family. We will be going to Orlando for about a week then my ds would like to go to the west coast. Can anyone recommend a good place to visit with a young family at that time of year. My son would like a place on a beach so we need to be somehwere where it is likely to be warm enough for swimming. Any ideas anyone.
Well it's time to get moving. I have to leave for badminton in an hour and have to go fix my hair.
Have a good day everyone and hello to everyone I have missed.
Marie.

Hello All!!!
I believe that I am in the right place for posting a few "newbie" questions. I have read the first book on SB, but have been following Atkins for over a year and a half. I know I have a few hurdles to jump in order to make this WOE work for me and my family. I understand the GI values and all, and I am working on how to read labels--that will be my biggest adjustment. I am excited to make this doable for my whole family, so just a few quick questions.
1. How should I incorporate legumes and beans into this plan?
Are they considered a starchy carb? How many servings per
day is considered best?
2. When a bread has both stoneground WW and enriched WW
flour is it OK to use?
These are my main questions at this time. I look forward to hearing from you all. Have a terrific day!!!

I've been hiding because of my foul mood but I think I am coming out of it. I'm still not sure why my weight is up but I'm trying really hard not to let it get me down. I'm eating pretty good and walking walking walking...:) We got in two different walks yesterday, an hour each. I told Lawana we needed to take this morning off as we've walked I think 22 hours and 20 days. Today is day 21 and we will walk this evening. I don't want either of us to hit burn out.
WELCOME Zuze and Kindergardencop!!!! I don't know about the beans. I count mine as protien but I know in the back of my head they are starchy so I don't eat them all that often. For my bread if it's main ingredient is stone ground and the sugar falls 3 or below I will eat it.
WELCOME BACK DEB!!!!!
Gator....I"ve really enjoyed the pictures of the emerging butterflys.
Thunder...wtg on the clothes getting looser.
Anna....yes they do grow soooo fast. My baby baby started first grade (home school). My oldest is 18 and moved back home for a bit. Five kids again under the same roof....aaaa how fast can they grow? :) Just teasin' but it is lively around here again.
Monet...loved the Friday funnies.
Gotta get and motivate my daughter. She is lagging in her school work this morning. Have a blessed and super day.

Hello Everyone!
Happy TGIF to you all! I got up a little later this morning. Paul worked until after midnight last night. Bless his little heart. So I was late getting to sleep last night. But I still got in my treadmill session this morning. Can I take a moment to pat myself on the back???? Thanks for the indulgence. I did five straight days this week. Five days to post on the exercise board. It wasn't easy at times, but I was bound and determined to do it. What truly got me up was thinking about JACKK and ZANNE and COUNTRY and BASHFUL and all the rest who are regular posters to the exercise board. I know they'd be questioning me if I didn't have something to report for each day. Sooooo, thanks for the support. Thanks for all the good thoughts that I fell coming my way.
Just got back from the grocery and put some mixed beans and a cottage ham in the crock pot. Yummy! Can't wait for supper tonight. We have free tickets to go to the seniors tournament of the pro tennis that's in town for the next week or so. I love watching really good tennis players. They make it look so easy.
COUNTRY----What's with the foul mood? Sorry to hear you've been low! Have you taken your measurements lately???? It could be you are not seeing anything positive on the scale, but your measurements might be shrinking? Come on get that old tape out and start doing some calculating to see how many inches have left the building. I hope your weekend turns out well. And I hope that you aren't discouraged and see something great soon. And just think of this . . . your heart and your lungs and every single system in your body LOVES, LOVES, LOVES your walking. Think of how they happy they all must be that you are doing so much exercising. Do you ever do weights? I'm wondering if it's time for you to add that into the mix. HUGS, Girlfriend!
ROSALIE---You are so smart to leave that fruit cake right where it was. Bringing stuff like that home is always a recipe for disaster. You are doing so great! I'm so proud of you!!! Thanks for the positive input on the bracelets. I really enjoy making them. They are fairly quick to do, but it's tedious and my eyes get very tired at times. I'm going to keep weighing everyday. I think when I stop, I go into denial about my bad choices. Like they aren't taking any effect.
GATOR---I am so loving your pictures and your descriptions of what's happening with the butterflies. They are so beautiful. Last night when I was reading your thoughts on how we compare to the butterflies (so beautiful on the inside), I got tears in my eyes. Such a perfect representation of what we are going through when we spend so much time thinking about our outside package. I don't know about anybody else, but I think all your analogies would make a GREAT talk for your women's retreat. You could do a slide show of your butterflies and give your talk on how beautiful and special every woman is. Thanks for sharing. It's wonderful! Every spring and early summer a place here in town called the Krohn Conservatory (huge old green house, that you would LOVE!) has a butterfly exhibit. They bring in all kinds of wonderful butterflies. They keep them in one big room and they are flying around everywhere. They land on you and you can give them fruit nectar. It's so fun. I think I also did something similar at Busch Gardens in FL a few years ago. Am I right that BG has that too?
DEB---I got a warm fuzzy feeling when I saw your name on the main thread that you had posted. Welcome back. We miss you terribly. I hope all goes well. I hope the dress issue and the grandma situation both turn out to be okay. I feel for Lauren. I remember what it was like to be overweight in high school and wanting to wear what all the skinny girls wore, but knowing it just wouldn't be the same on me.
THUNDER----So glad to hear that your clothes are feeling looser. That's the BEST th ing!!! You made me hungry for okra. How do you fix yours? Does it have a breading on it?
BEACH---That's so funny that you mentioned journaling. Because I think it's also very important to keep in touch with what is actually going into our mouths. This week at WW the leader asked us what we needed to do to see results. I wrote: 1. proper portion control 2. exercise at least 5 days a week 3. Journal. Now I know I need to add a fourth thing. STAY ON THE BOARD!!!!! Those four things will get me to my goal. So I know what to do, let's see if I can do it.
I was still at 187.5 today. No gain . . . that's good. I'm feeling great that I've stopped snacking at night. I give myself a creamed coffee after supper and that's the last thing I eat. Well, at least for the past five days that is. Hoping that will last.
Okay, that's it for me. It's time to fix lunch. Confession: I love this show on Discovery Channel called Surprise by Design. So I always want to have my lunch (when I'm home) about noon. Time to check if I've already seen this episode. The two designers seem so nice and so eager to please the home owners. Some of the designers on Trading Spaces are too egotistical for me. That's why I like this other show better.
I'll try to check in later.
Hugs to all,
Kim

Answers for Kindergaten and Zuzeq
On SB beans and legumes are counted as protein. If you are going strict with SB then any enriched flour is a no no. I'm a little more moderate and eat the Pepperidge Farm 9 grain bread. I agree with Country...if it has less than 3 g of sugar and high in fiber I eat it. FYI...some of us count calories or restrict portions on SB....unlike Atkins - because of being allowed to eat carbs - to lose wt I think you have to watch the calories. Also, while the book says carrots are a no no...they are now considered fine. One of the basic premises for SB is the Glycemic Index. I would encourage you to read the informational board that is also located here and learn about the GI.
Welcome
Anna;)

Hi Ladies,
It is really good to be here. I hope everyone has a great weekend, whether it is eventful or not, just peaceful. I am headed for my daughter's home. We're getting together to watch the movie "Bringing Down the House". I also want to burn a couple of CD's, oldies but goodies.
QUILTER ~~ The truth has a way of showing her beautiful head ;) . And your bracelets are gorgeous. I really would like to learn how to make them. I see that they are even putting them on watches.
MONET ~~ Absolutely love the story!!! :D  How have you been?
BOB ~~ Loved your tips, you definitely are not short in knowing how to make us laugh!!! Good to be back....
THUNDERWOMAN~~ Thanks for the encouraging words. We sure need them don't we. WTG on your inches lost.
ZuzeQ ~~~ WELCOME to SB. This is a very helpful place to be. The ladies here are darlings and really want to help you. Just fire away with any questions that you might have. And one more thing, there are no silly or stupid questions.
GATOR ~~ What you said is very touching, thank you !! That is why I choose the EAGLE as my avatar. It is not afraid of storns and I really need to remind myself of that. When I read some of the stuff on this board, it literally makes my eyes mist. I'm either having laughing tears or heart touching tears. WHEW!!!
ROSALIE ~~~ Thank you Lady, you are indeed encouraging to me and lots others...How have you been?
KindergardenCop ~~ Just wanted to say welsome to SB. Legumes are starrches and we should only have 2-3 a day. I will let the others lady handle the other question.
DEBBIE ~~ WELCOME BACK ! Surely hope that your vacation was the best. Sorry to hear about your Granny and wish the very best for her as well as your family. Ice that toe to keep swelling down. You problably won't even see this, but just in case you can get a sneak in.
CountryMom ~~ Good to see you, too. When I am feeling stinky, I try to watch funny stuff. You know what laughter does.:flow2:
Ladies I will get back later, if not tonite then tomorrow. Have a good rest of your day!!
Love you much, :grouphug:

Well I started this post this morning and just now getting it finished. I have been running around all day and it is almost time to go home.
Our friends didn't come down last night so I didn't even have a glass of wine.
Tomorrow we are going on the bus trip to the race track. Ihave cut up bunches of cheese and summer sausage to take with me and I hear they have a buffet for lunch. So I should be fine.
I am trying my hardest to make it through the weekend. 7 of those 12 vacation pounds are gone and I only want to go down down down.
I got another 3 miles in last nite and my wt training. Got up at 5:30 this morning and got 2 miles in. That will have to do until Sunday evening. Have to move DD back to college on Sunday (furniture at least).
Agape, I'm glad you know where to come back to. This is the place to be when youa re doing good or doing bad. Welcome home.
Kim, I used to weight once a weekand that was all. Now that I have picked up a few, I am weight everyday. Like to see some progress. And I know the scale can be fickle on days so I keep that in mind, but it helps keep me OP. Come on, we are going to make it through this weekend. Heartmom and I made a challenge. You can join in. We can do it. The bracelets are pretty. I'm sure you can make them much cheaper. Glad that scale is coming down. Those pounds usually ddon't stick long.
Beachfan, I agree. All three things are crucial to keeping and getting the wt off. I hate to tell you those high school years go really fast. Enjoy them. Both of you.
ZuZuQ, sure you can join our board. we would love to have you. SB is a great way to lose wt. Ask any questions you may have.
Thunder, inches are better than lbs. That scale can be crazy.
Deb, glad you are home safe and sound. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Bob, we are always ont he go. Don't know what to do with myself when we don't have something to do.
Gator, you are going to poulate your garden all by yourself. They are beautiful as well as you. I love your attitude.
Rosalie, have a nice time at the training seminar, if you can do that, we will miss you. Thanks for taking care of the board in Deb's absence.
Kindergartencop, The word enriched is a no-no. no matter what else is with it. I have bough Wonder bread 100% ww stonground and it is good. Also buy Grant's farm 100% ww. I beleive the book says beans are not a starchy carb, but I know many you count them that way. I do not. I eat them almost every night. Welcome to our board. We would love to have you with us.
Country, 5 kids? and you wonder why you are in a foul mood??? Just kidding, I know you love them all. But sometimes that can do you in. Don't worry about the wt gain. I'm sure it is something hormonal or something else like that.
Have a great OP weekend everyone. Get some rest and relaxation.

Well, I did not work today, but I went to the church office to staple and fold the worship guide. By the time I got home, I felt like crap. I have laid around doing nothing all afternoon. My throat is sore, and I have a terrible headache. I just wanted to pop on and say hello, and read the posts.
ROSALIE: My husband and I really enjoyed our visit to the west coast of Florida in November a few years ago. We stayed several nights in Sarasota, and several in Fort Myers Beach. I loved Fort Myers Beach, where we stayed right on the beach in a Best Western. The place we stayed in Sarasota was right on the Tamiami Road, but it was convenient to drive to the beaches. We tried several different ones...and liked them all. Sarasota had the Ringling Art Museum, which was attractive to us, but may not be to kids.... :) I guess I would recommend Fort Myers Beach. We liked it so much, we are planning another week there this coming November.
GATOR: I can't find my caterpillars! I guess they went into their crysalises, but I can't find them. :( I so enjoy your pictures! And your analogy was good. It was a good reminder to focus on the gifts God has given us, and not the problems we face.
Ok, back to bed. Hopefully, I will feel better tomorrow. We are supposed to drive four hours south to my mother in law's family reunion for the day!

Its Friday..... :)
God looked at earth and wanted to know what kind of behavior was going on. He decided to send an angel down to Earth to check it out. So he called one of His angels and sent the angel to Earth for a time.
When he returned, he told God, "Yes, it is bad on Earth; 95% are misbehaving and 5% are not."
God thought for a moment and said, "Maybe I had better send down a second angel to get another opinion."
So God called another angel and sent him to Earth for a
time too. When the angel returned he went to God and said, "Yes, it's true, the Earth is in decline; 95% are misbehaving and 5% are being good."
God was not pleased. So He decided to E-mail the 5% that
were good, because He wanted to encourage them; give them a little something to help them keep going. Do you know what that E-mail said?
No? Oh, well, I didn't get one either......

Monet - Sorry you are not feeling so good to-day. Hope it doesn't develop into anything. Thanks for responding to my question. Fort Myers looks like it would be a good place. I have been checking a few things down there. I was hoping to find a villa or a condo on the beach but everything I have seen so far is quite expensive - these kids have big ideas but no money . They're hoping we can find a place with a kitchen so we don't have to eat out all the time. Everyone got tired of restaurants the last time we were away. As long as I don't have to cook it's o.k. Actually we had a few meals in the hotel last time. We had a nice kitchen with a full stove but didn't use it much. In Orlando we were close to the Publix and Walmart so had a few cooked chickens with salads and veggies. I'm really rambling aren't I. Anyway I will continue to check out the Fort Myers Beach area. Another question - do you know if there would be much difference in the temperature between, say the Tampa Bay area and Fort Myers at the end of December?
Jack-K - Sorry you missed your glass of wine yesterday. Now you can have one at the race-track tomorrow;). Have a good time at the races and hope you are lucky. I always enjoy buffet meals. There is always something good to eat without going off plan. (As long as we have the willpower and I can read your determination to stay op this weekend and beyond).
Agape - I have never found fructose from fruit. I've only ever found the one made from corn. Let me know if you find any.
KindergartenCop - Some count legumes as a protein, others as a starchy carb. I prefer to count them as a protein. I eat them frequently. If you are having them as a protein - say in a meatless meal - I think it is o.k. to have them with a starchy carb like brown rice. If having them with meat or fish I would not add another starchy carb. Also I would not count them as one of my starchy carbs for the day.
Gotta run. I'm going out to dinner tonite and have to go and get ready. I'm meeting some friends at an Italian restaurant. Hope I can have a decent meal without eating pasta or pizza :(.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Marie.

HELLO FROM THE SOGGY WEST COAST OF FLA!!!! :rain:
The rain has set in and there is more out in the Gulf for later! Looks like a rainy weekend for BOB
ROSALIE....HELLO?????? I live in Sarasota and can tell you anything you need to know! DEFINATELY pick Ft Myers over Sarasota...there is NOTHING for the kids to do here...but the beach! The temp at the end of December is warmer than over in Orlando...we're still wearing shorts at that time of the year..you might need a sweater or jacket in the evening, and bring a few pairs of jeans and sweats just in case...Our really cold weather doesn't usually start until Jan & Feb.. Your best bet would be to go to a book store that carries out of town newspapers and if they don't carry the Ft Myers paper, ask them to get it for you..they will. Bonita Beach is just down the road from Ft Myers and it's a good place to go too. Let me know if I can help you any..I'll do my best ;)
MONET....I hope you're not getting what I had...mine started the same way as you describe...there isn't anything you can do for it but ride it out! Hope you feel better!
AGAPE...I'm so glad you're back...you're missed when you're not around...you know we're right here beside you!
JACKIE....are you headed for the DOWNS or down to Lexington to Keeneland? Have a good time...I know you will!
KIMMY...you're crockpot supper sound wonderful, and now I'm going to have to fix me some pintos tomorrow!!! Your bracelets are really nice. One of my cousins makes jewelry like that and she sells them and makes a fortune!
COUNTRY...don't make me come up there and throw you in the wagon....the bumps in the road will knock that mood right out of you! :s:
ZUZE & Kinder....WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Great to have you.
Your questions will certainly be answered here....just ask away!
NO MOVIE PICKS TONIGHT!!! MAYBE TOMORROW!!!

Hello to all of you Sugar Buster's!!
We are home, and had a great time. (Well, mostly!) The weather was wonderful, although it was a little too warm for the pups! Also the fishing was super! Or would have been if it weren't for one impatient little boy!! But, I have to remember that I had one of those too. One had the patience of a saint when it came to fishing, and the other couldn't sit still for 5 seconds!!
Took my baby girl into the vets today for her teeth cleaning. She is going to hate me for life. She tried desperately to get to me and away from the doctor when I had to leave her there. But she is home now, and sleeping off the anesthesia. And she has pearly whites again.
I was totally OP while we were gone. Might have had a bit more fat than normal. Snacked on some nuts. And had real eggs instead of my egg beaters, but other than that I was prepared. I think my Sister is thinking of getting herself and family on the SB plan. She had her stomach stapled a few years ago, and lost a huge amount of weight, but it is creeping back up so she wants something that she and the family can do. But she is not into alot of prep for meals. I told her how easy this was, lean meats, veggies, fruit and whole grains. Nothing could be simpler. So she read my book, and is going to order it, and the TBT.
Speaking of the TBT, I can't believe how much I have missed my workouts this week. Going to hit it hard Monday before my Dr appointment. (Women's yearly!!)
I haven't had time to read the posts for all week long, but I will try to get caught up. Just might take a few days. Also have a great recipe to share with you. My Aunt gave it to me, and with all the fresh tomatoes, and cucumbers, it is AWESOME!!
Will be back this evening to try and catch up!!

Heyyyyyyyy, I'm back,
Just came back to say good-nite. I'm still at my daughter and SIL, have really enjoyed their company.I figured by the time I got home I would be good and sleepy.
Jack-K ~~ Thank you for the words of encouragement. My brother used to ask me, how do you eat an elephant? I said, Shoot, I don't know, then he said, one bite at a time. So is this task, one lb at a time. I'm here for myself as well as for others.
Rosalie ~~ I found it once at a health food store (Good Food Store). They ran out and hadn't gotten any more in. I think I may try and find it on the web. It needs to be a big size health food store. I even called a store called Whole Foods and they only the kind made from corn. I will keep you posted as to my findings.
Bob ~~ I feel just great after all the welcome backs I recieved. I know where I need to be and this is it. I'm encouraged indeed.
OK, everybody have a peaceful night. See ya's tomorrow.
Love,

That helps to clarify things and get me off on the right start. I bought Nature's Own SF Bread today. It seemed legal to me.:)
I made chili with meat today and did as you all recommended and had no other carbs with it. That made the most sense to me at the time. I guess that is part of this WOE is to use your common sense to make the best choices.:sunny:
Thanks again for the input. I'll be sure to announce when I'm confused.:chin: It doesn't take much!!!
I don't know if I can do a starchy carb at breakfast like I did with my Uncle Sam cereal today. I felt hungry all day. Maybe that is normal, though? That is the biggest hurdle switching from low-carb to SB. We'll see.

 Happy Friday Night
Remember when Friday night was a date night. Boy now I look forward to just chillin and not going out. Hubby and I walked tonight and it was so so hot. He ended up not feeling too well. We have to watch out for heat stroke here and he really had me worried. He's much better now, but I feel bad because I was pushing the pace :?: We cooked out on our deck tonight and had steak, brown rice and squash sauteed with onions. It was really good. Now we are just hanging out. My son is at the movies with friends and my daughter is at the lake. They are both trying to pack as much fun as they can into their lives before the homework starts:fr: Both of them were unlucky and got some of the toughest teachers at the school so this year is probably going to be difficult.
Kindergarten - You are right it is about making the best choices and not the perfect choices. Sounds like you are off to a great start. WOW :bravo: I saw your stats. You have done great! The trick I used with having cereal in the mornings is I have a piece of cheese with it. That tends to take my hunger off. Then I usually have an all protein snack early before lunch. Hope that tip helps.
Teensy - :cb: Yea you're back. Glad you had a good time. We missed you. That is great you were OP while on vacation.
BOB - Hubby and I were just talking about how there is nothing on TV these days. Can't wait for football
Gator - I showed your pictures to my son and he was fascinated. He's seen the transformation before but like the rest of us on the board, I don't think you can not be awed everytime you see it. I loved your thoughts on the butterfly last night.
Monet - Here's a hug from us all :grouphug: Hope you feel better soon. I don't know how you resist the icing. Last night I was helping my daughter bake cookies for the lake trip and had to taste what we did. It was instinctive!
Rosalie - Publix and Winn Dixie just seem to always have good deli food. You'll love the trip to Florida. My favorite spot is Clearwater beach near Tampa but it may be too cool in December. We go early March and it is 80. We like there because we love Busch Gardens. They not only have rides but a very nice zoo and shows.
Jack-K - Have a good time at the races. I had a glass of wine for you tonight. Hope you get one too.
Agape - Welcome back. I was gone off the board for a long time and realize now how important it is.
Country - :balloons: Hang in there. I have only 2 teens and even though they are great I still run around like crazy...can't imagine juggling 5. Remember, take care of yourself first and then everyone else will be ok...
Melf - Glad you have been catching up with us on your laptop. It must be a relief to be able to get on the board. I know when I was on vacation I really missed being able to check on everyone.
Talk to you tomorrow.

I agree with the not getting to the board theory. I find myself slacking off if I don't get here everyday. I also find stepping on the scale helps me keep focused.
BASHFUL
My MIL is very overweight and is constantly going to the doctors and complaining of this pain and that one, having surgery for this and that. I stopped trying to keep track long ago. About 6 months ago she started this shake drink diet at a nutritionists. She lost 3o pounds but now her stomach is all messed up. She got interested in SB when she saw how well it worked for me. I gave her the book to read. I don't think she's really following it although she claims she is. You will never be able to get your MIL to do SB unless she really wants to. Best thing you can do is be a living example of how well SB can work.
GatorGal
Thanks for posting all the great pictures, they are so interesting to see.

Welcome to the board!
If you don't mind my asking, how much did you lose on Atkins?
enriched anything is a no-no. It means it's been processed and stuff added to it.
I mean if your only choice is between white or enriched WW then take the enriched WW. But there are loads of stoneground and WW breads in the stores now. This is interesting about breads http://www.ecomall.com/greenshopping/bread2.htm
Welcome back Deb!

Good Evening Ladies, even though most of you are having sweet dreams right now. Thought I would get a few replies in. It is going to take awhile to get caught up with the board.
I am posting the vegetables that I ate today;
2 tomatoes
4.5 oz cucumbers
5.5 oz zucchini
Guess it is not that much, seems like all we are eating is fresh vegetables. Here is that recipe that I told you all about.
Gazpapho Salad
4 med tomatoes
1 8 oz jar taco sauce (I used Pace picante sauce)
2 T red wine vingegar
1 T lime juice
2 T red onion chopped
2 T green onion chopped
2 T green chili
2 cloves garlic minced
1 c cucumber diced
1 small zucchini diced (optional)
1/4 t coriander
2 T chopped basil
1/4 c olive oil (I only used 1 T)
salt
pepper
With all the fresh vegetables we have in the garden, this was a great way to use alot of them. It is really YUMMY! When my Aunt first made it, she added Shrimp to it. So the possibilities are endless. Hope you enjoy this. I am going to make some more tomorrow.
Agape--- Welcome back. Yes, this is a one day at a time ordeal. We are here to help if you need us! Just as we know you are there when we need you.
Kindergartencop--- WELCOME TO SUGAR BUSTER'S!! I too am a past low carber. Did Protein Power for over a year and a half. Love this WOE! Even dh joined me in this one. Your stats are AWESOME!! Way to go!! :encore:
Beach-- How well I remember Friday nights. We owned a Tavern for many years, and Friday nights were the night to howl!! Even after we got out of it, dh and I still went out for dinner and drinks every Friday night. Haven't done that now, in years. My big weekend out, Downriver Days, I had 2 beers, (only because neither place had wine ) and one glass of wine. Pretty sad bar hopping huh?
Well Gals, hope you all have a great weekend. I am making Chicken Fahita's to take tomorrow for the Pot Luck. I think both of my Sister's are leaving tomorrow. See you all later!

Good morning all! Had wanted to post yesterday, but had a really full day then by the time I slowed down last night I had such a horrible headache that I went on to bed.
Eating still OP. Scales still coming down. I have lost a total of 4 lbs since Monday. It was 5, but the boiled crabs last night had a lot of salt, so I think it's just water weight, but at least I'm eating right. Have not eaten anything off plan this week. I am proud of myself for sticking to it. DH is being very supportive as he knows how this gain has bothered me.
According to my weight commander, I have been in this range at least for the past 3 months. A year ago yesterday I was at my lowest, 132.5. That's a far cry from 146. But I'm working on it!
Hope all have a great week end!

Hi Everyone, I'm peaking to see if I have been kicked off the board due to my absense. I am holding my weight at 150....I can not seem to get back op. I have become busy doing cakes...those are not a temptation...but they do take up my time, time I would be planning healty meals. :(
I think about SB every day and start off with good intentions then fall op, but atleast I'm trying , I think that is the reason I have not gained too much for as long as I have been off program.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone, its good to see so many people doing well!

Good Morning All
I think I did well while out for dinner yesterday. While everyone else chose pasta I had a pepper steak with lots of veggies. I asked for extra veggies as I didn't want the baked potato. The veggies were fresh cooked - cauliflower, broccoli, baby carrots and asparagus. They were really delicious. I did have two slices of bread which I think was sourdough. And a glass of red wine. Shucks......I just got on the scale and I am up 2 pounds this morning. I did have more starchy carbs yesterday than I usually have. Apart from the bread last night I had two slices of Ezekial bread at lunch time as well as my usual oatmeal in the morning. Oh, and I sneaked two digestive cookies before going to bed. Why did I do that  I'll really have to be vigilant to-day. I can't afford that scale to stay up. I'm afraid of what will happen next week when I am away. I think the first morning at the hotel I will get on the scale if they have one in their gym and check it every day or two to make sure the weight doesn't creep up. Other veggies that I had yesterday apart from the ones mentioned above were 2 cups of mixed veggies (green beans, carrots, peas, snow peas).
BOB - Thanks BOB. I'm sure to have some more questions for you later. I'm going to be checking out the Fort Myers and Bonita Beach areas. I also found the FM newspaper on line.
Gator - Thanks for the tip. I've found a site with lots of newspapers so will be checking some later.
Teensybean - Welcome back. Glad you had a good vacation and WTG on staying op while away. :cp:
KindergartenCop - I think that's the right attitude to have - to make the best choices we can. You shouldn't feel hungry on this woe. Maybe you need to add some protein to your breakfast and have some fruit to snack on during the morning if you need something before lunch.
Beachfan The sauteed squash and onions sound good. I've never tried cooking it that way. I love the Clearwater area too. We were there in March of last year and the weather was good. (That was the time when we had the SB gathering at SolShines house and I met BOB, Debbie, Chris and a few others who are not around anymore and we had a great time. It was wonderful meeting some of my SB buddies.) Last December we were in Orlando and it was very cool. We almost needed winter coats, but it was definitely better than what we left behind here. :) We also visited Busch Gardens last year. Everyone enjoyed the visit and I wouldn't mind going there again. But the kids want to be on the beach so we thought going a bit further south should be warmer. They also want to go on an Everglades tour.
Melf - Good for you staying op all week. Four pounds since Monday is great and I am sure more will come off soon. Hope your headache is better.
ChrisB - Welcome back. Glad to hear you are hanging in there and not gaining. Maybe if you get back on the board we can inspire you to get back op.
Well I think I had better go and see about breakfast. I'm going out to dinner again to-day with a friend and we are going to the movies to see SEABISCUIT which I hear is a good movie. I plan on staying op all day. I'm going to have oatmeal and berries for breakfast and think I will have fish and some veggies for lunch.
Bye for now.
Marie.

Good Saturday morning! It looks like we might have a pretty Saturday for once!
I've been absent for a couple of days because I've been busy. But I wanted to stop in today and say hello. I was in Montgomery yesterday working on tax reform--the next 30 days will be wild in Alabama.
The good news is that three weeks from today I will be attending my first football game!!!!!! War Eagle!
I'm going to see Seabiscuit this afternoon--can't wait!
Miss Belle has just crawled into my lap for some snuggles!
Deb--good to know you are home--sort of.
BOB--let me know when we come to Atlanta--maybe I can drive up!
Monet--I know your temptation. I had to make a key lime cake for a friend yesterday and I was licking my fingers out of habit--at least I only do this once in a while--not as a profession!
Gator--I have enjoyed your pictures tremendously!!!!!! You have helped to have birth to some magnificent creatures!
There have been too many posts for me to respond individually, but I'll try to keep up better this week. Did I mention that I resigned my position at the church? My last day there will be August 31. It was time.
Have a great Saturday everyone!

Hi everybody! This is my first post here in a couple days, but I have been posting my exercise since Tuesday. Four days straight!!! I feel really good about that. I have been doing good on eating. Only had one bad breakfast at IHOP, it was soooo good and I didn't gain any pounds from it. So I guess it wan't too bad! I have another question. I am going to a seafood house Wednesday - all you can eat crab legs (what I'm eating not the name of the restaurant) Will that be "bad" or OK since it is seafood? I would like to know what to expect as fas as weight gain from that. I only go once a year but I like it so much I find myself eating until I can't eat no more!!!! I never have room for dessert so that won't be a temptation. What do you all think? Thanks for any help you can give me. Everybody has been so great every time I have a question. Thanks a lot

GOOD AFTERNOON FROM A VERY FLOODING SARASOTA COUNTY FLA!!!!! :rain:
The rain is still coming down, and there are parts of the city and county under water! THANK GAWD I live in a no flood zone! My house is actually built up on a hill from the road, so if it comes up here.....SARASOTA IS GONE!! I'm staying in to avoid anything that's not good out there!
SO NO MOVIES THIS WEEKEND!!!! :(
The DUNGEON MISTRISS called me this morning, and of course....I was still in bed! She gets such a kick out of my zoning on Saturday mornings...She makes fun of me! She was out and about and said to tell everyone that she will be back on the board Monday morning. Her Dear GM is still holding on...said that her Mom had been over there and polished her nails and is trying to get her ready for the wedding today.
Bless her heart, let's all keep our fingers crossed for her!
TEENSY....I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR LITTLE SIG PICTURE!!!! Where did you find that? Glad you had a good time on your trip.
You're more of an outdoor girl than me....I couldn't do that!
I feel for you and your little FOUR FOOTER Skeeter hate me too when I take him for that SPA TREATMENT! !!
BEACH....Take good care of DH....he's good to have around ;)
Enjoy your weekend....Don't worry, we're into the COUNTDOWN
process for the GOOD GAMES!!!!
SUSAN...I'll make sure to let you know when we decide to motor over to Hotlanta! Enjoy the movie and let me know how it is. I can't wait to see it...of course, I'll be waiting for the DVD!!!
MARIE....glad you found the paper...be sure to let me know if I can help!
WELL...sorry I can't get to EVERYONE.... I've got to get my arse up from here and do something!

:strong: I'm feeling really good today and energetic. The sun is shinning and it is just a beautiful hot summer day here.
Son had 4 teens spend the night last night and they were really good. All are asleep right now in the family room. I'm thinking about laying out on the deck and reading a book for awhile and then going for a swim. Scale was up a little today and not sure why...been eating OP and excercising but I know there are many things that can influence it :?:
For those of you helping their hubby's with wt loss. Last night my dh said he could put his belt on the 3rd notch and not the second one. Since he won't weigh, that is a good judge of if they are losing wt. :D
Cherylco  I agree that by just being a living influence you can help others. They have to want to do it themselves but when you hold up a brownie in a meeting or dinner and offer it to others because you aren't going to eat it, that says a lot to them. Also, when they see you succeeding they know it is possible.
Teensy - :hun: The recipe looks delicious. I like the idea of adding shrimp. The Tavern sounds like fun...Hubby and I rarely even go to the movies now. I think tonight we will go out. Every weekend he keeps asking what are you and I going to do this weekend together. He loves date night, so I better make plans!
Chrisb - Welcome Back :cb: I was off the board for over 1 year and eveyone was so great about my coming back. I can say from experience that by posting, I stay motivated. So come on here everyday and we will all motivate each other ;)
Melf - :cp: Way to go on being OP. I know what you mean about being lower on the scales a year ago. That's how I felt when I went to the DX and it showed that 1 year ago I was 10lbs less than now and I have recently lost 22 lbs :yikes:
It made me more resolved though to get back down. All of us will get there together!
Rosalie - :hun: The squash or zuchinni is delicous this way. Just sautee onions in a little butter, olive oil or margarine...I use the margarine. Then salt and pepper the onions. I wait until the onions are clear and then add the cut up squash or zuchinni. I stir it until the squash is a little soft and then turn the heat down or off and let it jsut sit there for about 30 minutes. It really is yummy. I understand about going further south in December. One thing about the south, you never can predict the temp in the Winter. I've worn shorts on Christmas day and huddled by a fire on Christmas day when the temp was below zero. Going to the lower part of Florida will help make sure the weather is nice for you.
Fillise - :fr: Boy politics is really getting heated up here isn't it. Let's hope that people begin to understand how important this referendum is for our state. I went to register the kids for school yesterday and there was a big sign that said over 4 million additional $$ would come to our school if we voted yes. The fees for my kids this year were over $200 each and one of the items was $3 for mailing report cards home. It is a sad day when a system can't avoid to mail the report cards home. Oh and the teacher supply list...soap, kleenex, paper towels etc. Basic sanitary supplies that the school can't afford...how sad.
Daisy - :encore: WTG on the excercise. The crab legs are fine...just watch out for too much cocktail sauce and crackers! I love crab and since it is a protein it is great for you. It takes a whole lot of crab to add up to alot of calories. 1 cup of crab meat on WW is only 2 pts so I eat a ton of it! Enjoy.
Gotta Run :sunny: :sunny: Everyone let's try the weekend challenge with the others who are trying to stay OP over the weekend. We can do this!!!

Good Afternoon Ladies,
How's everybodies day going? I slept in kinda later today and that tends to keep me sleepy all day when I sleep too late. Other than that, I feel on top of the world.
CHERYLCO ~~ The bread site was interesting. Definitely made me get back on my toes concerning bread. I think everyone should take a peek at the article.
TEENSYBEAN ~~ Thank you. The recipe looks YUMMY and will give it a try. Just printed it out to make sure I won't forget what to buy at the market.
CHRISB ~~ Good to see you, I was rocking in the same ole boat. The people here are quite forgiving as you probably already know.
Enjoy the rest of your day. I need to get a move on. Will see ya's later.
Love,
LJunel (slim and healthy)

Anna thanks soooooooo much!!! I was prepared to feel guilty about my dinner but now I won't and I will eat a ton or two!!! I'll be eating mostly crab legs so I won't need very much cocktail sauce except on a few shrimp. And maybe (still trying to decide) a couple fried oysters. Next week is my 4th wedding anniversary and I always look forward to dinner, we don't go to dinner too much the rest of the year! Hubby doesn't like restaurants. Here's another question I just got back from Walmart and bought Blue Bunny lite 85 yogart it has 8-9 sugar per cup, no fat and no added sugar made with splenda. Is this OK I couldn't find any plain yogart only flavored. I also bought Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom fudge light and cruch lite bars - no added sugar made with splenda is this OK. I'm hoping for a good answer, they both sound yummy. Thanks a bunch for everyones support and help. I think I'm addicted to this board It's the fist thing I do when I turn on the computer and the last thing I do before shutting it off. And I check many times in between. Thanks again!

Wow, it's been a long time since I visited here. I had another screen name, and couldn't remember it, so you can call me Bella!
I've been trying to do Weight Watchers for a year or so, and had good luck for a while, but I am going back to the Sugar Busters plan. It works best for my husband and me, and means one meal for both of us! My dr. just recommended that I cut down on carbs, and while he does Atkins there is NO way I can eat like that!
School starts here Monday, and I'm hoping that helps keep me on track. I always eat too much and spend too much money in the summer...but it really is fun! I teach second grade and those little ones keep me on my toes.
I just wanted to check in, and will not be a daily poster. But I do remember getting lots of good advice on these boards before. ;)

I had a long reply going, and my daughter decided to use the computer, and lost it! Grrr...
Tom headed off to the family reunion without me this morning. Monet is too sick to travel! He would have stayed home to baby me, fabulous man that he is, but his uncle died yesterday, and he will drive an extra hour this afternoon to attend the visitation before he comes home. His mother always appreciates his willingness to attend these kind of family things.
I fell off the wagon again today. I ate a piece of cake, and a cupcake. I think I am eating out of boredom. I don't feel well enough to DO anything, but I am not feeling poorly enough to sleep. I need to find a book to read....
ROSALIE: We stayed in a Best Western on the beach in Fort Myers Beach. It had a kitchenette. They also have suites. I was going to book a suite in Naples, which is a bit south of FMB, that was pretty reasonable before Tom and Laura decided they had to stay in Cocoa and surf the whole time. We had a suite in Cocoa, and ate most of our meals in. Cereal and microwave stuff is good for breakfast, and I got cooked shrimp, chicken and bagged salads, and made caesar salad with chicken, and shrimp louie. It was pretty easy, and saved us a good bit of $$ over eating out. By the way, it was warm enough in FMB in November when we went to wear a bathing suit on the beach...
FILLISE: I can relate to your quitting your church job. You will not know what to do with all the time you will have! ;) When are you coming to Atlanta?
BOB: About when (date wise...) will you be coming to Atlanta?
TEENSY: Thanks for the gazpacho recipe! I have been thinking about making some. You did not put any directions on there, so I am assuming you just toss it all together. Correct?
BEACH: I remember those days of having a house filled with teens! You come down and find them draped over all the furniture, sleeping in positions you know would give you a stiff neck, but doesn't faze them! I miss those days! Once in a while, my son will come over and bring a few friends to play video games with my youngest daughter. I do enjoy having the house full when he does. One of the most frequent furniture draping friends of his married my older daughter!
DAISEY: The Blue Bunny yogurt is fine. The sugars are from the lactose in the milk. I use the yogurt and the ice cream bars. Just be careful with how much of the ice cream stuff you eat. It has maltitol in it, which can have a laxative effect.

WHEW!!!!
I was beginning to think that I was the ONLY ONE WITHOUT A LIFE TODAY!!!!
Monet...We'll be leaving on the 28th and come back home on the
6th (sept). I know that we both have dental appointments on
Tuesday, and it will depend on if Kate has any more work to be
done after the initial visit. I know that she has two fillings and a tooth to be pulled... At what point will you know your days off?
Susan wants to come over that day too and I bet you could persuade (sp?) her to spend the night! Email me your phone #
and I'll call you when I know. Feel better dear friend!
I am SO BORED!!! It's too bad to get out and go get a movie...
I've got one that a friend gave me to watch, and I'm trying to hold out until 9p.m. It the Michael Douglas...DON'T SAY A WORD
Skeeter just went to bed, and I've got a load of curtains in the washer...better get on and check them out...

Hi All
DH and I went to Applebees tonight and I had the shrimp alfredo without the pasta. The waitress asked me if something was wrong with my pasta since all I ate was the shrimp and brocolli...I said no and she looked at me very strangely! Went shopping today for new walking shoes and boy do they make a difference. DH and I walked tonight. Had to wait till the sun went down because it was so hot. I guess we have to choose between West Nile Virus or not being healthy and fit. We tend to choose the healthy and fit. I get tickled at the recommendations for avoiding mosquitoes...wear long sleeves and long pants. Here in the south we would die of heat stroke if we did that!
 BOB...I also must not have much of a life  I must have been posting this morning when you were. Yes, I will take care of Hubby...he did fine tonight. Glad Debbie called you. Hope that things go well today and tonight for her.
Monet...FEEL BETTER. Hope that you start to get better soon. Yes having the teens hanging around the house is nice. Both my children are very close in age 17mos apart and I have learned that I go through all the stages at once and I better enjoy them because I won't get another chance. I didn't learn that until they were out of diapers and so I really regret the baby years. Wonder if DH want's another Baby...just kidding.
Cheryl...Thanks for the bread article. I saw the bread I have been eating on the chart...Boy it really opens your eyes about what they put back into the so called high fiber breads.
Bella...I combine WW and SB and do well. The WW helps me with portion control and the SB helps me eat the healthier foods...
Daisy...hope you had fun tonight. I think going out and eating out has to be part of what we do to stay on track...We have to learn how to eat out and stay somewhat OP...that way this WOE can be a life long success.
Have to run...see ya'll tomorrow.

No life--on the computer on Saturday night! Actually home and chilling out is exactly where I want to be this evening.
TOM is here and the pain is tremendous. I've got to get into see my gyno soon. The last 3 or 4 months my periods have been extremely painful--not cramps--just plain old pain. I turn 45 in a few weeks and I'm going to tell him I want everything OUT! It will be his job to come up with a medical reason, but I've been doing this for well over 30 years with nothin to show for it--I'm through!
That's more than you wanted to know!:o
Seabiscuit is quite good. I highly recommend it to anyone that hasn't seen it yet! I also watched the Banger Sisters on HBO this evening. It was ok, but not great.
Beach--Good 4 u getting out and walking! I always laugh at the "long sleeve" recommendations this time of year! Who are they kidding! I sympathize with the money you are having to lay out for supplies, but we are in an uphill battle--it's a real long shot!
BOB--my last weekend at the church is the 31st. My birthday is the 3rd :). I'd love to pop up to Atlanta and see you and Monet!
Monet--I hope you are feeling better tonight. I'm not doing much better myself. It's a good thng you have dear Tom to take care of you! I'd love to try to come up if BOB comes for a visit--otherwise I'll slip up for a day soon. I think the assoc. pastor at my church wants to come to Harry's, so we may both come.
Bella--welcome back! We'll give you all the advice you want! :)
Daisy--I LOVE crab legs--heck, I love crab anything! Enjoy--they are really good on this WOE!
OK,my youngest niece in IMing me--got to go talk to her!

AFTERNOON FROM YET ANOTHER SOGGY DAY ON THE WEST COAST OF FLA!! :rain:
I'm gonna have to get out the rubber boots to get to work tomorrow if this doesn't let up!
SUSAN...Let's see....your birthday would be on WEDNESDAY????
That would be perfect, BUT like I said, it will depend on if Kate has a follow up visit at the tooth doctor
I didn't like the BANGER SISTERS at all...I was very disapointed because I like everyone that was in the movie! Can't wait to see Seabiscuit!
Well...I'm going to stick my head once more in the washing machine! I was washing curtains last night for something to do!
Today is towel and sheets day! I need to go to WALMART, but tomorrow is the first day of school, and I WON'T GO NEAR THAT PLACE TODAY!!!

Hello Ladies,
Just popping in to say hello. We are having a gorgeous day, temp is about 70. We had been having a lot of rain. Compare to last year(very dry and limited water), I'm glad to see it.
Beachfan ~~ That is a very good idea using WW and SB combo. My daughter suggested that I do the same thing. Are you losing good using both?
Monet ~~ I, too, am sorry that you are feeling bad. I had started using the glucophage and it was great at first, but then I started waking up feeling nauseous, so I quit taking it. I see my doctor, maybe he can make some suggestions. It could be that I was mixing wrong meds together. Hope you feel better soon.
Fillise ~~ I feel sorry for you, too, dear. I know that pain that you are experiencing. I was diagnosed with endometriosis, years ago. I, too, said take it all out. You really don't want to do that until you exhaust everything possible to get help. I have heard from numerous women (health food stores, books and tv) that Evening Primrose oil is one of the very best things you can take to rid the body of pain periods. I can research it a little more for you if you like. I regret having the sugery. I'm on top of things now, however, I had a really hard time after the surgery physically and well as mentally, like depression. I found a wonderful and loving doctor last year and he prescribed compound look-a-like hormones for me. Most pharmacies have no clue of these substances. I'm definitely not doing synthetic hormones. You can research the subject on the internet, endometriosis is a start. My children and others who were around me went thru living **** with me. I just saw a tv show called Berman and Berman(sister doctors), may have the names mispelled and they about what most people are afraid to ask. It is tragic what can happen, like cutting your sexual nerves. I was blessed that didn't happen to me. I will help where I can, you are still a young lady, I'm 47, I had surgery about 10 yrs ago. It was an uphill battle and now finally I am straightened out. WHEW!!! Let me know if I can help. I hope this helps any other women out there that may be suffering in this or any other capacity. Have a good day, today!
I am headed over daughter's again. See ya later.
Love ya,
LJunel (slim and healthy)

Just finished up with my morning church duties--have to be hback at 6:00 tonight.
Looks like we might actually get another nice day today--two in a row--and on a weekend even--WOW!
BOB--yup--it's Wednesday. I should be able to come up if I don't get sent somewhere to speak for this referendum. I'll try to keep the day clear.
Agape--I hear what you are saying, but I am suspecting that this is something else on top of the endemetriosis. Like I said this is pure pain, not cramps (which I've always had). As long as I thought I might have children I was willing to put up with it, but 45 is my cut-off date and now with this pain, I don't ever want to have another period again. It's that simple. I've tried to acomplish that with BC pills and other medecinal avenues and they don't work. So I want it O-U-T out! :)
I'm going to grab a quick nap before I have to be back at the church. Have a good rest of the day everyone!

It's another gorgeous sun shinny day here...Sorry BOB ;) I think you must be getting our usual rain!
Have done laundry and cleaned the house. Daughter called me from the lake and her lower lip was extremely swollen. Am assuming it was an allergic reaction since it was not hit and she didn't get stung by anything. Called the DX and they said it could be almost anything since she is at the lake. She had allegra with her so she took 2 and an advil. Just glad she will be home this afternoon so I can see how she is. Any time I'm nervous I become an cleanning machine so now I am beat. Still doing laundry but house is spotless.
Susan feel better. I know what you mean about the pain...am 41 and on BC pills for years to stop it. Now am on the estrogen patch as well as the pills. DX says the other is the last resort BUT all my friends tell me to do it that they have never felt better. So I say do what you think is best for you.
Cheryl...don't worry about slacking off on the excercise sometimes that even helps to shake up our bodies and confuse them and you lose more! Have fun walking with Hubby.
Agape...yes combining SB and WW has worked for me. I am averaging 1-2 pounds a week. Last time on SB I lost about 3lbs every month. So I am losing faster. I don't go to the meetings, I joined on line and log my food in everyday there and weigh in one time a week and log that.
BOB...have fun cleaning. Can you see me running around like a mad woman after getting the call from my daughter at the lake. Cleaning is my way of working the worry off.
Well have to go. Have a great day everyone.

Hi everyone,
BOB--I am beginning to feel like a duck. You may have it worse than we do with the weather because you are first to get those storms right off the Gulf. It was raining this morning when we went to church. This afternoon is is just overcast and gray.
We had a big birthday party when we got home from church. Three birthday boys (or girls, I can't tell which, yet). Attached is a picture of the "party." It was most exciting. In all, we had 4 new morphosed lives for the garden.
I was down another pound, so am in the mid 170s. Have not counted calories this past week. I just get sick of it. So I was surprised to see the loss. I have a pulled muscle in my left wrist which makes it hard to lift any weights. So last week and this I laid off the weights. The wrist problem was starting to get chronic, so want to give it time to heal.
I have my Sunday get-together this evening. I'm taking a really nice salad. Someone is bringing smoked turkey. Hopefully there won't be too many temptations. I am praying to resist them. We had a French lunch today, which was not entirely SB. It was called "pan bagnat" and it is a southern French sandwich. I used crusty bread (from Costco), don't know if it was sour dough, and it was filled with lettuce, tomato, onion, tuna, capers, anchovies, tapanade (chopped black olives), and sliced egg. What makes it 'specially yummy is that you rub the bread with garlic and drizzle olive oil over it before assembly. It is best served after an hour or so so the flavors will mingle, but we did not wait. It's quite filling, so my sandwich was only about 2 inches wide where the bread was sliced up and down.
I'll post two more pix below. I wish I could post more than one pix per message.

My "babies" hung around on the bush that I set them on. They were there for about 30 minutes and finally took flight. This is the Eastern Black Swallowtail right before it flew off.
BTW, BOB notice my T-shirt on the above picture. Good lookin', huh?!

Hi all! wanted to pop in & say hi. Staying OP. Usually the week ends have been really bad for eating lately, but have been behaving this one. Will be a week tomorrow that I'm OP.
We went to Golden Corral for lunch after church but ate steak & salad. No dessert. Wasn't sure I could walk out of there without dessert. LOL
Gator, love the butterfly pics! Beautiful! & you're looking good too :)
Got to get ready to go to a church council meeting.

Good Sunday Morning all~~~ I am so happy!! My baby got home yesterday!! He has been gone since December, right after Christmas. He works in Alaska, so we don't get to see him too much. He just got promoted to a Foreman's job, so they have given him some time off to come home and have some R & R before hitting the next season. He is working on a processor fishing boat. So they will be going after King Crab the first of October. He may be called back the 4th of September though.
It was so strange....we were sitting at my Mom's when this vehicle that no one knew drove up. And out of the passenger side came my darling Bill!! I am so proud of that boy!! You should read the great letter he got from the two top bosses. It is very flattering, and will look great on his resume.
Rosalie--- Thanks for welcoming me back. This wasn't really a vacation, as we try and spend a couple of days a week down on the boat during the summer months. The fishing is starting to get good, so we will be leaving again Tuesday morn. We love it down there, and the dogs have a blast too.
BOB--- Thank you so much! A friend from the first board I was on made this for me! She is great with computer graphics. It is supposed to be used as an avatar, but it has too many bytes. As for fishing.... if you could see our set up, you would know that I am definitely not roughing it. Our pontoon boat is set up like a house boat. The only thing I have to do, is heat water for washing, or dishes.
I love my little critters so much. It breaks my heart when they think I am doing something bad to them. I just want to do what they need done. Shots, teeth, you know the drill!!
Beach--- We did have alot of fun when we had it. I absolutely loved the Halloween Parties, and Saint Patrick's Day!! We had so much fun. The last time we went out was for Breakfast on our Anniversary in June.
Agape--- I hope you enjoy it, we sure did. I am planning on making some more to take with us to the lake.
Monet--- Yes, you just toss everything together. If you like fresh veggies, this is great!! Must tell you I LOVE THE WHEAT MONTANA WW FLOUR!! It is the best!! We stopped at the bakery when we came back from ND. I bought some WW hamburger buns. I am hordeing them. Only eating one every once in awhile. I do have a loaf of bread going in the machine right now, and it smells so good!! Hope you get to feeling better. It sucks to be sick!!
Gator--- The butterflies are absolutely gorgeous!! You have every right to be a proud "MOMMIE" I would have a hard time picking out a favorite. They are all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing them with us!
Going to go fix lunch now, the smell of bread is making me hungry!! Later, gals!

Good Afternoon Everyone
Just checking in to say hello to you all. This will probably be my last post for a week as I will be away all next week and probably won't have access to any computer. I will really miss you all. I just hope I can control my eating while away. Yesterday my eating was good, even though I was out to dinner, and this morning I was up 1 1/2 pounds. That sucks.
Thanks to Beach, Monet, Gator and BOB for their replies to my questions about my forthcoming Florida visit. I've checked out a few places but will have to put that on hold until I return from my training session.
Have a good week everyone.
Marie.

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!
The :rain: has stopped, and the sun is shinning...just heard on the news that the big mall in Bradenton was flooded (all the stores) and they have lost all the "back to school" trade! That's so sad!
SUSAN...I guess I'll have to call you on Tuesday night and let you know about any forthcoming appointment for Kate. I don't want you to make the trip and then me not get to come! Sorry you're
"a hurting pup"...I too wish that I could have the old baby factory taken out...I feel the same way you do about not having anything to show for all the agony that I've had for the last upteen years!
At least I'm into menepause.....:dizzy:
BEACH....sorry about your DD...hope all is well when she returns home. I bet that house is sparkling!
ROSALIE...If I see anything in the paper, I'll let you know. My Brother has a condo in Naples that he rents out, but he wants TOO MUCH MONEY per week for it...
Gator>>>>>Yes, I noticed that shirt! :s: Your babies are really beautiful...keep us updated on it...

Hello everyone!
I’m back from my little trip to Gulf Shores and I’m happy to say that I didn’t gain any weight while I was there! What an accomplishment! I didn’t try to lose any either – I ate what I wanted – but I maintained and that’s good for me!! Woohoo! We had a wonderful time, the weather was great, the water was beautiful (compared to what I’m used to) and I won the putt putt golf tourney!
Now, I know that it is Sunday but I’m going to try to catch up on all of these posts.
MONET: Thanks for the encouraging words. How many kids do you have? Did you have the miscarriages before having children? What did you dr. say was your problem?
QUILTER: Amen sister! I always wonder the same things about those crack Mamas. Why them and not me? I saw a girl the other day big and pregnant – sitting in a casino smoking cigarettes. I wanted to slap her - literally! I see so much as a teacher – so many neglected kids and parents that have so many and they don’t have a pot to piss in – it’s so depressing. Thanks for the prayers – I so need them right now!
ZANNE: I’ve been eating those same things lately – fries and cokes. I’m not a coke drinker at all but I sure have been putting some down lately! I feel so bad afterwards – they don’t quench my thirst either! Time to get our act together! We can do it!
COUNTRY: I can’t believe that you are walking that much girl! You are probably wasting away and just don’t realize it – aren’t your clothes fitting better? Maybe it’s just muscle! That’s what I always tell myself! Haha!
FILLISE: I hear ya on the rain. We are so tired of the rain here too! Every stinkin day we get at least 1 thunderstorm. This was the first weekend in a long long time that I didn’t see any rain! Maybe it was because I was in Gulf Shores!! Haha!
THUNDER: Sounds like you are doing well with eating on plan! I need to follow in your footsteps. How is your baby?
PANCHO: Thanks for the kind words. I know that I need to get my butt back on the board so that y’all can whip me into shape! I just hate those situations where you overhear pregnant women saying stuff like that! Then they go smoke or drink! Or – those that don’t care for the kids they have – I see that so much at school! I just want to take them all home and clean them up and care for them. Life is so unfair!
JACK-K: I sure do miss you girl! Thanks to you too for the encouraging words! I look forward to catching up with you! We are thinking of adoption but we are going to try one more time for one of our own. I’m going through extensive testing with my new fertility specialist and hopefully we will have some good news. I’ll keep you posted. I’ll TRY to be happy for the preggo friends – I’m just so jealous!
WOOD: Isn’t it hard to stay on plan while on vacation? I didn’t even try! I knew that I would be bad going into it! Haha! Good for you – going to exercise and all – you know – getting right back on plan. I have such a hard time getting back on once I fall off!! I’m proud of you!
BASHFUL: I wish I could help with the emotional eating…but I’m the poster child of emotional eating! When I’m happy, sad, depressed, angry, etc. – I EAT! Wish I could help! Sorry about the wedding photos!! That really sucks! You know – that happened to a friend of mine. The photographer didn’t have any film in his camera when he was taking pictures at her Mom’s house before the wedding. So, none of those pictures came out! Good thing he realized it before the actual ceremony!
GATOR: What can I say…you are wonderful! Thanks so much for everything! I know that there is a plan for me and that the man upstairs doesn’t give me any more than I can handle. BUT – I’m not handling things well anymore – doesn't he see that? Ask him for me…since you personally know him!! Haha! I’ve gotten information from a few adoption agencies but we are going to try one more time before we commit to anything in that direction. There is a baby out there for me…but I just want my own! Does that sound so horrible? You know my feelings! It is sooooo hard to hear my friends talk about their kids, especially when they are COMPLAINING! That pisses me off so much! I know that it is natural to complain about kids and what they are doing, etc. I just wish they wouldn’t do it around me – is that so horrible? Some friends are very considerate – others don’t even try. Some days I just want to hit them! Tell the man upstairs to give me a break! I need some good things happening in the near future!! Thanks again!! I love you!!! I have no idea how the Tigers are going to do this year – we bought our tickets but honestly, I’m not even in the mood to go to the games – now you know I’m not myself!! What beautiful butterflies! We tried to do the butterfly growing thing in my class this year – in May. But, I was at school when we started them and at home on bedrest with my pregnancy when they hatched. So, I didn’t get to see it. Those look great! Sometimes I do feel like a butterfly! Actually, my friends all call me a social butterfly! Haha! Thanks for the compliment and comparing me to such a beautiful creature – that just made my day!
BOB: My dear BOB! Of course I will adopt you!! BUT – there is one condition! We WILL NOT play Rocky Top in this house! HAHA!
BEACH: Thanks for the kind words – you are soo sweet! You are right – the ladies are so wonderful here – I should have been here all along – instead of hiding and eating! We stayed at the Phoenix V. We had a 1 BR condo – it was really nice. Where did y’all stay? We ate at Live Bait one night, Ruby Tuesday’s the next – kind of just stayed in the immediate area. Any recommendations for our next trip? I want to go back soon!
JECRITES: Gosh do I know those feelings!! I have an ex-friend that was so ugly to me after my 2nd miscarriage and she rubbed it in my face – so needless to say – I haven’t spoken to her in over 3 years! Most of my friends try to watch what they say or do in front of me but I have some that do not. I know that I should be happy for them but I just can’t make myself! I’m so jealous! I know I’m jealous! Especially of those that get pregnant after 1 month of trying – or while on the pill!! That really pisses me off!! Haha! You definitely didn’t make me feel worse – I can SO relate to you feelings! Thanks for sharing your story. It makes me feel better knowing that others have the same feelings that I do!
MELF: So good to see you! I know I need to get my act together again! I’ll be trying to start back once school starts next week. I know that I won’t do it this week. I have to be on a schedule and right now – I’m not. But, I will try my best to eat better and not really blow it out of the water!
DEB: Glad to see you are back! I have no idea what has happened to you lately but it sounds like an adventure! Talk to you soon!
Well, ladies, I'll see you on the board this week. I'll be working in my classroom - getting things ready. We start on the 14th and the kids come on the 18th. So, time to wrap it up!! See y'all later!

Fruit - Glad you are back and had such a good time at GS. We have stayed at the Phoenix 5 before and like it. This time we stayed at the BeachClub on Ft. Morgan Road. We loved it but it was too far from the action! I think our next stay will be at Romar House Condominiums. Had some friends stay there and they loved it. We LOVE Zekes, the Back Porch, Louisianna Lagnaippe (never could spell that), the Outrigger and Lillians pizza in Perdido. (Yes we do like to eat out). Take care and glad you are back.
Gator - Loved the t-shirt (not really since I'm a Gator Hater!). But I did love the pics and the butterflies.
BOB - Glad the sun came out. Yes the house is very clean. She came home and immediately went out to the movies and eating with her friends. So much for feeling bad :dizzy:
Teensy - Sounds like the boat is ideal. DH and I hope one day to either have a house on the beach or lake. Right now we sort of have a house in the woods with a creek behind us...so we are getting there!
Rosalie - ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!! You'll do fine staying OP...you've been so dedicated.
Melf - WTG on staying OP at the Corral...the DESSERT bar is a killer.
