I just read an artical in a magazine about Phase 2 starch blockers. They contain a supplement found in white kidney beans. Has anyone ever tried them or does anyone know if they really help? They are supposed to attach to carbs and carry them through your system just like fiber goes through your system.

Now that's a new one on me. I wonder when it will be on the market. Or should we all just start filling up on white beans?

I dont know, sounds too good to be true.

Hi!

I don't know about the Phase 2, but I began using something similar.

Basically it "flushes" the carbs out of your system. I found out quickly that when taking them be prepared to be close to a bathroom . If I take one in the morning, I will be sitting in the "library" shortly after eating lunch. When I take it at night with dinner I visit the "library" in the morning. Once you get used to how your body reacts to them it's liveable. Personally I think (well, at least the brand I'm using) is working. But I'm no expert and it could just be that I've been OP and been losing the weight.

Sorry, probably not much help.

My mom has been taking the Phase 2 for several months, and she swears by them. She is a truck driver, and spends almost 24hrs a day in her truck, whether it's driving or sleeping (she does long distance trucking, Alberta to Texas usually), and she unfortunately can't eat super healthy when relying on truckstop restaurants all the time. She hasn't lost that much weight, but she has lost a ton of inches and she looks great. The Phase 2 are expensive here though, and I've never tried them.

Someone asked this question and Suzanne replied. Check it out.

Thanks Ruth. I read 2 different articles from 2 different doctors. One said that they really work and that you should only use them when eating a meal with a large amount of carbs. The other doctor said that there has not been enough clinical research to prove that they do what they say they will do.
I don't need anything that is going to send me to the bathroom more. I'll need to pull a porty potty behind me. lol

I only take them on the days that my dinner includes carbs. I'm a CAD'er, so, I try to be very concious of controlling my carbs during at least two meals a day. If I do consume a higher amount of carbs at a meal I make a point of taking the "flush" tabs after that meal.

Again, I am not taking the Phase 2, but a different brand.

I just read the same article. I have also been taking a similar product. My doctor said I should take them and that they work. I don't know, I haven't been taking them long enough to tell for sure, but i'll keep you updated.

Is all this the same as the carb cutter DH bought?

I started researching Phase 2 Carb blockers and these new type of pills are different from the old ones which were ineffective. See this page: www.phase2info.com

I started taking them today and I hope that these along with the South Beach diet will help me to lose more weight.

10. How does new Phase 2® differ from the old Starch Blockers and other bean extracts?
Phase 2® has been clinically studied several times, and has proven to be effective in humans. Phase 2® is a brand new, highly-concentrated standardized extract made from
a specific fraction of specially-sized Great Northern white kidney bean through proprietary processes. The so-called amylase inhibitors of the 1980's, and typical bean extracts, are simple whole bean powders or extracts with little or no clinical background.

MelodyAM75,

Please keep me posted on whether they work. I am interested in trying them if they do. Thanks.

There would be no reason for a person on Atkins plan to use these though. We don't eat starch. Do we? ;)

I just bought a bottle from walmart...it wasn't a bad price either. $14. In the magazine it said it was like $30. So hopefully this stuff really works :)
