Default Noob from Ireland, ready for change!

Hi all. I've decided to join this forum for weight loss support because I'm always half-starting diets, abandoning them and there's no accountability. I want to start changing my life tomorrow. I'm joining the gym and beginning a low carb diet because I'm at the heaviest I've ever been, it's making me very unhappy and my lack of confidence due to my appearance is stopping me from meeting people and having a relationship. I'm in my thirties so it's time to change before it's too late. Yes, this is a bit dramatic but I feel very strongly about it. I'm tired of comfort eating, over eating, binge eating and all the other wrong eating I've been engaging in for my entire life.

Welcome! Sounds like you are ready to go! Just remember the trick is this time when you stumble which you will do at some point, we all do, is to just pick yourself up and keep going!

I'm in my 30's too and struggling with a lot of the same things as you! Time to get our **** sorted right?

Good luck!

Welcome to the forum Geeque!! I feel pretty much the same way, but really wish I had started to change my eating ways when I was still in my thirties, or better yet twenties, instead of making this decision in my forties. LOL But hey, we're ahead of those still sitting on the couch, right?

Welcome!

Sounds like you have a good plan, and yeah, this is a great place for support.

My two cents, in case it's helpful: I have always seemed to have trouble fixing my diet and exercise at once, because I'd stop going to the gym and then let my diet fall apart because I felt like I'd failed. So I guess I'd just like to say: if/when you let something slide, don't call it the end, and don't let everything slide. Like Valmorel said, just pick yourself up and keep going!

Today is my first day also. I understand what you mean by not meeting people, going out etc. You can do this, and we all have to start somewhere.
