Default Grains are bad so are vegetable oils

Grains are bad. Many reasons. But another key thing we've gotten wrong, I believe, are vegetable oils. They didn't exist up until about 100 years ago. The hydrogenated ones like Crisco are really bad. But canola, soy, corn are also very bad for you.

They have high omega 6 content. It is believed humans evolved with around a 1:1 omega 6 to omega 3 diet. Now in America it is mostly 20:1 sometimes way over 30:1. This ratio is incredibly inflammatory and can lead to many chronic diseases.

I believe no one should cook with anything other than coconut oil, ghee, palm, lard, tallow, butter, macadamia oil. You should not use vegetable oils at all in your diet except for good quality first press virgin olive oil, avocado oil, coconut oil, macadamia oil.

I agree with the Omega 6 versus 3 analysis. There are some great videos on YouTube about it given by real researchers.

But you don't get meaningful quantities of Omega 3s from any of the foods you list. You get DHA and EPA from fish. You get ALA from stuff like flax seeds which can (with varying degrees of inefficiency) be converted to DHA and EPA. The foods you list just pile up the Omega 6 and 9 side.

Which is why I do not eat them (much).

Some fats are good. Some are less good. Some are bad.

Like the doctors say.

The simple solution is eat oily fish and cook it with a little bit of olive oil if you have to.

Job done.

You can't be stuffing your face with saturated fats and making the Omega 3 argument. It don't work like that.

I am an Omega 3 junkie.

Info on omega 3 and 6 ratio in grass fed beef, pastured eggs. Quality matters:

BS. I eat six cans a day or, if eating fresh, 2lbs a day.

The ones to limit are higher up the food chain, namely tuna, swordfish, shark, jack mackerel.

The trick is to eat a wide variety of fish to limit your exposure.

Meat is just so much worse for you that calling out fish is a joke.

As the Harvard health experts say, I'd be more worried about the health consequences of people not eating fish than eating fish.

I eat a lot of sardines, oysters, mussels, mackerel, anchovies, wild salmon etc. etc. etc.

Sure beats lard, tallow, butter and grass fed beef in terms of good fats.

I mean look at grass fed beef with an omega 3 to omega 6 ratio of 7.65:1. Wow.

And wild salmon, erm that ratio would be 9:1.

And compare the price of canned sardines versus grass-fed beef.

It's a no-brainer.

But I guess I should shut up. The fear of eating fish keeps US demand low which means more for me at lower prices.

So go eat grass-fed beef people!

Suckers.

Is this meant to be an argument thread...?

Starting with "this is bad, no-one should do this" is kind of inflammatory. I thought we were all here to discuss things like rational, open-minded people and not judge other people's choices...
