Good morning everyone! :welcome: to all our newcomers!

And happy birthday to lili :celebrate:

Even though July ended up with an overall gain for me, I have started this month with a loss. Down 0.8 to 194.7. With some major milestones completed at work yesterday, I purposely left my laptop at the office and spent the evening with Peanut and then at the gym once hubby got home. I had to push through, because I was really tired by the time I went, but I did it. And I have sore arms and shoulders now, good sore though. I'm happy with myself today.

So a little secret I'll let you all in on: we're having an all employee meeting in September and it happens to be the day of our CEO's birthday. So we're doing a flash mob to surprise him. My idea; everyone loved it. Anyway, the point being, he's on vacation this week, so we're having an afternoon dance rehearsal at work! I'm getting paid to get my fitness on. Doesn't get better than that. Oh wait, it does! Monday is a holiday here! Yayyyy.

Kukkie, how fun that you get to dance on the clock

Chelainabear, glad to have you join us. Good job on the 5 lbs.

I bought 2 new bras today. The are a size smaller than the last bras I bought, I think this has more to do with cut/style, but I'm claiming it as a NSV anyway.

Lili Happy birthday!!

Kukkie: Well done! I'm not sure I would have had the strength to leave my laptop at work, but that's awesome. And congrats on the loss. You too, jollyjude!

patchworkpenguin: Thank you! Unfortunately, I'm up 1 lb today, but I'm still down overall this week. And nice job with the bras--no matter how you get there, getting a smaller size always feels good.

I made a bad lunch choice with lunch today, it was my mom's 8th anniversary at her job and I took her out to one of our favorite places... and had a greasy plate of fish and chips. I did choose to stick with water and diet soda to drink, which is a small success. Either way, I still feel kind of crappy.

And I'm starting a new job tomorrow, and working 14 hours between the two, so who knows how well I'll do. I'll check in between shifts if I can.

I'm out of town and don't have a lot of time on the computer, so when I get back I'll fill this in and catch up with everyone.

I gave the house a good scrubbing today, which I haven't done in about two months, then I did a yoga routine focusing on twists which felt great to my back after all the vacuuming and mopping.

I weighed today and was a pound down from my last weigh-in but still up due to TOM.

My dad decided to help Hubby with the engine, letting me off the hook. We have to be careful of him due to the impending surgery, however.

Chelainabear, Ex-Navy Hubby was stationed at Whidbey Island, but requested that area due to family ties in Bellingham and Brisbane Island. I moved up there to be with him after we got married, we both lived in Memphis before we got married.

08-03-2014, 04:40 AM
Penguin: Sweet! I am a little south of Bellingham, just 20 minutes outside of Everett. I love Western Washington, it's beautiful. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else, though Memphis does sound interesting :)

I did well on all of my goals today, but still came in 2 lbs. up. I ate VERY well, drank almost 120 oz. of water, and did 30 minutes of cardio, around working a total of 15 hours. Just feeling a little frustrated.

08-03-2014, 07:58 PM
As usual with me and will be my routine until I get a handle on my new schedule ... catching up from the 30th

Kukkie, how did Peanut do with the shots? I use to cry when the first two would get shots then it got easier so I know how you feel with them sticking your baby, Kukkie thanks for the light bulb moment. I've been eating the Fiber One bars for a long time and I never ever thought about upping the water to help move things along ;) Kukkie nice way to start the month with a loss, GO YOU :high: and yeah getting paid to get your fitness on is great :) Enjoy your holiday tomorrow :)

Thanks Sarah  ... I need to do a just for me day or two. I am really considering doing a detox and only eat melon for a day. I did it once before twice in one week and I dropped a lot of mess/water that I had gained during a splurge weekend. I decided yesterday that I was gonna celebrate finishing up a little after 5 at work. It was the first time in the three weeks I have been there. So I stopped at Food Lion and got a cake with white icing and ice cream (I don't know if you've ever heard me talk about Food Lion cake but I love it. That, dry Frosted Flakes and green peas) I can eat until I am blue. None of those things are good for me but any who. I decided to have cake and ice cream (couldn't finish what I put in the bowl) then today I did the same thing. The good thing is I will reign it in tomorrow. I don't have a choice :) Needless to say today I am five pounds away from 155 :D. But I'm ok with it. I may reach 150 by the end of August :crossed: Glad you aren't giving up. Thanks on the sparkle and shine. I believe you do the same thing here also  Sarah hope your time out of town is a pleasure trip, enjoy

Penguin, good for you on taking on the challenge of yoga and smart thinking on the exercise. That is my main reason for getting this weight off. Family history of diabetes with horrid outcomes and I have 4 children still in school so I need to pull it together to see them grown and prayerfully see my oldest and her hubby have children in about 6-7 years :D It's good your husband can do all of that with the car. Penguin hope TOM is almost gone :) Yes Penguin, claim that bra NSV :)

Thanks Jude :) glad no damage done from the fall. I'm clumsy, my husband will tell anyone in a minute, smh (ha he married me :D) I always get hurt  I need to work on getting my water in also. I don't like to drink a lot when I'm at work because I always have to go when I do, smh. Another issue of mine, smh. :woohoo: 9lbs GONE, Way to go Jude :high: Nice way to start your month with a loss also, WAY TO GO :high:

Thanks akelly :) I'm sending whoosh vibes to ALL of us this month. I sure could use one. But like you I've got to get my brain and mouth in check :) Ha don't you hate the reminder of your falls/incidents? Like we need the reminder ... my husband will bring it up and still laugh about it, silly goose ;)

Donna my kids loved VBS when we lived in Virginia. They are missing a lot of things here, including their friends. Nice weigh in :high:

OK now to catch up on this thread :D

garnetrising :welcome: to the thread :)

jenjen :welcome: to the thread :)

Chelaina :welcome: to the thread :) this is the perfect place to be, great friends and support here :) Best of luck to you with your goals, YOU can DO it and we're right here with you :) :congrat: on the new job :) I just started a new job on the 14th. Adjusting here to life with all of our children :) Don't beat yourself up about the lunch with Mom ... that was a day to celebrate and enjoy and that's what you did, and the water and soda was a nice NSV. Hope you had a good day the day after :) I know it's frustrating when you do everything right and have a gain, but the bright side is you know it's just water and it will be gone in no time

:celebrate: Happy Belated Birthday lili

dare2dream :welcome: to the thread :)

LGW, good job on the 5.5lbs GONE in July :high:

ok now me ... I loss .4 in July. The good thing is I got up to 166 and brought it back down to 159. Now just think, had I stayed OP, I would have seen my 155. Hope this month is better :crossed:

Sending you all :goodvibes: and :dust:
Hope you all have a great week. I'll see you next Sunday

Chelaina I'm in Oregon hubby is stationed in fort lewis I love this area as I grew up here! Hang in there the scale is mean sometimes!!!

Love you can do it!!!!!

Penguin great job I'm starting c25k tomorrow ...good to push ourselves.

Went to the river again great way to cool off!!!!! Loving carb cycling don't feel like I'm on an eating plan and weight is still dropping!!!!

08-03-2014, 08:50 PM
Thanks jenjen, I sure hope so :) ... I've really got to get my head in the game fully :crossed: Go you on C25K :high: I have tried it a few times but never got through a week. I was beginning to jog/run before I started working and was so proud of myself. I hope to get back to it once I get myself on a steady routine. I did calorie cycling a few years back when I would stall/plateau. It does help :)

08-04-2014, 03:33 AM
love2be150: Thank you for the welcome! I've been doing better since that splurge day, I was actually way under calories today (not necessarily intentionally) and I have had NO soda since then, even diet. :)

jenjen Thank you! I ended up back down 2 this morning, at 262 but I'm hoping for another loss tomorrow morning, as I was under calories today. And Washington and Oregon are beautiful! They're so green, and I LOVE the rain.

My mini goal for this week is to be under 260 by the concert I'm attending on the 9th. I think it's definitely achievable, but I'll have to stay on top of things.

08-04-2014, 02:44 PM
Taking a couple days of the scale .....be back on Wednesday or Friday....my cheat meal did not agree with me...LOL

Down 0.6 from Saturday - Forgot to weigh yesterday, we were so busy.
We went to our local Heritage festival, representing 85 countries with 60 pavilions selling ethnic foods and goods from around the world. They also have stages set up (it is held outside in a huge park) and give performances specific to their countries. Kind of like a huge United Nations Block Party:D
Managed to resist all the tempting food, and just enjoyed the smell of it!

Chelainabear - We all have those frustating times, Don't give up, you can do this! Keep up with the water, I find it usually takes a day or 2 for the increase of water to make a difference.

Rennie - Good for you for losing that bit of weight you put on before it escalated to something worse!

Jenjen & Chelainabear - Beginning of July I was down in Portland, then we rented a cabin on the Olympic Peninnsula by the Hoh Rainforest. It is so beautiful down there. I am originally from Victoria, B.C., and really miss the coast.

Penguin - I need to get at my house for a thorough cleaning - there always seems to be so much other stuff to do over the summer.

Chelaina, some days I believe it's ok to be under your calories since that is what since some eating plans like 5:2 have you do that. I believe it balances out the high days. Good for you on the NO soda. I love Pepsi Max (I drink it when I need a pick me up) the ginseng definitely helps ;). Good job on the twop pounds down :high:

Thanks Jude :) GO YOU ... what a great NSV to resist all of the yummy food. :high: When I lived in DC they had an international day festival I so missed it when I moved to Virginia but I would eat and eat and eat ... I was also thin then (prior to marriage and children ;))

jenjen did your cheat meal give you an up on the scale or make you feel bad? Feel better and hope you have a great weigh in on whichever day you choose to weigh in :crossed:

glad I got to check in today ... I miss talking to you all on a regular

I was up 1.2 this morning thanks to my splurging yesterday and Saturday evening. But I did a melon diet today to hopefully wash all of that out and start fresh tomorrow :crossed: I actually had a protein bar also but I don't think that will mess with what I was trying to do too much, let's hope not :)

Have a great evening ALL

08-05-2014, 04:50 AM
jollyjude Thanks for the encouragement! I'm hoping the 80+ oz of water each day is a habit that I can make stick forever, and I've met that goal every day for the last 8 days. Progress! And I haven't been to the penninsula in a very long time, but my mom and I are planning on taking a trip sometime to the Oly national forest and the beautiful beaches there.

love2b150 Thanks! Soda is one of those habits that's near impossible to kill. Good luck with the detox, I hope it does what you're hoping.

I had a rough day/night so I think it'll probably reflect in the scale tomorrow :/

08-05-2014, 05:23 AM
hi there everyone,

have been following a lot of threads and if i may would like to join this one. please if some one could give me an indication of the "rules" i gather there is no one type of diet here but i am attempting the "banting" method basically low carbs, medium protein and high fat. i am living in South Africa and really need some support:comp:

08-05-2014, 09:20 AM
Morning y'all.

Back at work today after a long weekend that no one really knows why we celebrate anymore. Not sure anyone cares except that we have an extra long weekend in the summer. In any case, Friday afternoon was our work dance rehearsal, holy cardio. On Sunday, I gave up my farmer's market outing to hubby and Peanut; sent them off with a list and got my butt into the gym. I forgot how much I miss the "burn" of lifting weights and that soreness that proves you did something right. Wasn't totally on or off plan this weekend, but I did end up eating a lot later than usual yesterday, which I think is the contributing factor to this morning's gain. Up 0.6 from Saturday to 194.5.

Rennie Peanut was a champ with his needles. Didn't cry when he saw the needle or when it went in. He cried a bit, but only because I made him sit still as he was in the midst of exploring every nook and cranny of the doctor's office.

papercut no real rules. It's just a check-in thread. Come in as often or as little as you'd like. Come to chat, to vent, for support, whatever. We're easy! Welcome aboard :)

08-05-2014, 09:38 AM
Kukkie--Great job getting yourself to the gym and starting to remember how good it feels. That helps to continue the motivation to keep going. And I'm glad Peanut didn't mind his shots too much. That's cute about being more upset about being cut off from exploration than about the needles themselves!

Papercut--hi and welcome. I don't think there are any "rules" here except to be kind and participate. It's a great place for support, and any food plans are fine. Everyone does his or her own thing; we just meet here to get and give encouragement and discussion.

Love2b150--good luck with the melon diet. I hope it works. Your cake binge sounds delicious, but I get why you'd need a detox after that! I hope it takes you back down to where you were. I hope you are settling into a good routine with work and that the kids are doing okay with mom out of the house now. It can be stressful to start a new job. It sounds like things are going smoothly. I bet once you get into a set routine, those cake binges will be a thing of the past!

Chelainabear--Sorry you had a bad day/night yesterday. You are doing so well with your weight loss already that hopefully one day will only make a small blip on the scale for a short time. I hope that today is a much better day for you.

JollyJude--Goodness...you should get extra credit for skipping all that food at the festival. Don't you feel like we should get to lose an extra pound when we turn down food like that? It seems fair to me!

So back from vacation. I felt like I did really well while I was gone...I ate well, walked, and made mostly good choices all around. The scale didn't agree with me. I'm up a pound to 220. I'm not changing my ticker unless it sticks around next week. I know it's not that much, but I'm getting SO frustrated with myself. I've lost 7 lbs in about 2 months and most of that was first week weight loss. I think a lot of it is that it's so much harder to lose weight after menopause, but still...I have to just work harder at it and remember that this is a long term project. But I just would like one really good week now and get well below 220 so I can say good by to the 20s.

Here's to a good week for all of us!

08-05-2014, 09:52 AM
thank you for the welcome, i am a habitual dieter :( i am hoping to get it right this time. am such an emotional eater and salty snacks are such a down fall for me.

08-05-2014, 10:08 AM
So I started yesterday:dizzy: kinda figured no time like the present:). we work in KG's here but converting to pounds I have aprox 40lbs to lose. I weighed myself yesterday morning and was 226.82 and this morning 226.38 so just a slight drop but anything is better than nothing

Had the most amazing salad this afternoon, roasted pepper and string beans, onion and garlic, with tuna chunks. was so yummy. Have had plenty of water today, breakfast was a 2 egg omelet with cheese and tomato. Think supper will be grilled chicken breast, to me it seems way to decadent to be diet food so i hope I am reading this diet correctly. :?:

Its lovely reading everyone's post and seeing that there truly is an amazing sense of friendship and support here:hug:

08-05-2014, 12:31 PM
I'm down almost a pound from the 2nd. Not much going on this weekend {Sun-Tues} Hubby and Dad are working on the car's engine swap. I felt like I didn't sleep last night so I'm groggy despite a rare cup of coffee.

08-05-2014, 01:17 PM
Great job everyone!!!!!

Love- It's not so much the pizza...I have a cheat meal once a week. I eat well all day and have one thing I have been craving. I just tend to get so addicted to the scale that I start getting depressed...so I need to just weigh in 2 times a week I think ....I am doing this more for my health this time...weightloss is a benefit but I don't want to be in this big rush to get it off. I am on an eating plan that I actually LOVE this time so I don't feel like I miss out on things which is a great benefit!

08-05-2014, 02:08 PM
Good morning everyone:wave:

Welcome Papercut! Your plan sounds similar to mine, but I try to stay lower fat.

I am down 1 lb. from yesterday:carrot:
I will be out of town for the next week - going to my niece's wedding. It is a 12 hour drive, so we are making a little road trip of it.
My goal is to maintain while I am away.

Have a great week!

08-05-2014, 03:50 PM
Happy Tuesday friends!! I'm gaining :( But, on the road to losing again. Just have not had the energy after work to hit the treadmill, and my travel schedule this week is shaken up so just need to learn these lessons and be able to lose weight no matter what's going on. The plan is to hit the treadmill tonight :)

Welcome to all the newcomers!! So glad to see a bunch of new faces and still keep the old friends, too :) The more active, the better accountability we all have!

Rennie, melon diet sounds good - need to look into that this weekend to maybe help wash out some of this water weight gain. Hoping the protein bar did good for you :)

Chelainabear, girl I hear you on the soda. I am a soda addict. Luckily I have been able to switch to diet soda, but I know I shouldn't drink it. But it keeps me pumping through the long days and keeps the headaches away lol. Welcome to the thread!

papercut, this is a free for all thread! However and whatever you choose to do is welcomed. Along with just random chit chat. I talk about the most non-diet topics sometimes!

Kukkie, I love long weekends and I wouldn't ask why they exist either!! Great job getting back into the gym :) I love the soreness and everything, too! Just don't feel it as often as I should. Great job on the loss and the good food plan! A loss is a loss, no matter what or where it came from!

Sarah, good job maintaining the vacation - that's the hard part. I hate that the scale didn't reward you, but it will! Normally I see 3-5 pound gains after vacay so silver lining is it was only 1 :)

patchwork, man I ran into a bump in the kitchen project I'm doing and immediately thought of you. Having an issue with the granite guy - and its going to delay things until Sept since thats the next available week where I can travel home a day early so they can do the install. Blahhhh! Hope you get some good rest tonight!

jen, I am the same way. Sometimes if I weigh daily I struggle mentally with the fluctuations or lack of losing even when I'm doing all I can. So, some weeks I weigh 7 times, other weeks it could be 3 or 4. Just depends on my mood and desire or lack of desire to know the number!

jollyjude, congrats on the 1 lb!!! Great goal! Road trips are fun but be careful :) Lots of summer travelers out there!!

08-05-2014, 07:56 PM
papercut: :welcome: I'm glad you've found this community welcoming so far, I'm sure that's how we all feel as well! And it looks like you are making good choices, don't worry about dropping right away, it takes a little while to see those good choices reflecting on the scale. Grilled chicken breast can be quite good for you, as long as you're not loading on the heavy sauces or oils!

penguin: Congrats on the 1lb. Progress! :)

Sarah: Thanks for the sympathy. I just made a few crappy choices due to poor planning on my part, and some emotional stress. It'll get better. And you can do this! I get that frustration, but we all have faith in you.

jollyjude: Congrats on the 1lb, and have fun! Road trips and weddings are both fun, you'll have a great time :)

akelly: It's just so terrible! But I've gotten much better in the last few weeks about not having any regular soda, and only a few diets a week. A lot of the time I don't even finish the diet, because even though it curbs that carbonation and sweetness craving, I don't actually like it that much. Perfect solution ;)

I had a relatively unhealthy lunch (my sister made french toast, bacon and hashbrowns for all of us) but I had small portions and have been drinking lots of water. I just hope I have that control tonight at work, surrounded by fried food :stress:

08-06-2014, 03:46 AM
hi everyone,

quick Q, when do you guys weigh, morning or evening?

took a long walk yesterday about 8 city blocks and back, first time in ages, feel a bit stiff but a smile chuffed i am starting to do something.

hope everyone has an awesome day

08-06-2014, 09:10 AM
:DHi all,

no change in the scale today, but very positive. did another walk today feel so much better than just sitting behind a desk all day, todays lunch was a chicken salad, onion, tomato, lettuice and some feta.

have been researching some of the diet plans mentioned in the threads and some of them i just cannot find can some one give me pointers on the 5:2 plan seems it would work with the low carb plan i am on.

hope everyone is having an awesome day

oh btw lol we had our first earthquake in South Africa yesterday:dizzy:. nobody knew what it was............... we are so clueless here

08-06-2014, 10:19 AM
Good morning everyone

I'm down 0.5 to 194.0.

papercut I weigh first thing in the morning, after I use the bathroom though. I find it more consistent that way. Earthquake, eek, hope everyone is okay over there!

08-06-2014, 10:55 AM
Good morning everyone

I'm down 0.5 to 194.0.

papercut I weigh first thing in the morning, after I use the bathroom though. I find it more consistent that way. Earthquake, eek, hope everyone is okay over there!

some people were injured:( close to the center but only one fatality reported. we are lucky here, it happened in a very sparsly populated area.

08-06-2014, 11:57 AM
So I weigh this morning and get 5 different responses 6 lbs different ...either battery or scale is going bye bye lol

08-06-2014, 03:38 PM
So not going to be able to weigh in until Saturday morning a little anxious on the different weight if my junky scale was off!

08-06-2014, 07:05 PM
Yesterday we took a walk around a local park, our first since having to put April to sleep a few months ago, It was hard, not having her with us, but having taken that step maybe we can go again.

Today I did 30min of HIIT followed by 30 min of yoga.

JenJen, we thought we were having weird weather earlier this year, but the thermometer was stuck at 71F. I'm a big fan of those rechargeable batteries, they cost a bit more in the beginning but are worth it to me.

Papercut, glad you guys are ok and it wasn't much worse. I weigh in the mornings but being consistent will probably tell you more than skipping from morning to evening.

Kelly, that would drive me nuts. I hope the time passes quickly and the install goes smoothly.

08-06-2014, 07:14 PM
Penguin I just changed the battery and every time I step on scale its different so I just ordered a new one!

08-06-2014, 08:03 PM

:hyper:hi all

the weather is warming up nicely here, hoping to get a walk in later. scale being very stubborn and not moving:(.

still very positive about this program.

can you combine programs? do a LCHF and 16:8?

08-07-2014, 10:26 AM
Morning y'all

Slight gain, up 0.2 to 194.2. Going to focus on getting in my water today.

08-07-2014, 03:24 PM
Checking in...2nd time since Monday; that's progress for me! :) Have not been on any plan (food or exercise) this week. Eating relatively light during the day but too many carbs at night. Have been away from a scale so no weigh ins.

Kukkie, water is my focus today too. I'm backed up for some reason so going to try and flush everything out!

papercut, good job on the walking! Glad you're safe from the earthquake!

Lindifer, welcome!!! Congrats on starting and good luck on your journey! Water weight is always the best at first - gets those numbers down quickly so it really helps to motivate you to keep going.

jen, good plan. I replaced my scale when it started going crazy too. The new one was much better and consistently reliable!

patchwork, that's got to be tough for sure having the first walk without her. Congrats on the HIIT. I tried it once and about died! So amazing that people can do that consistently. I'm always amazed :)

Chelainabear, yeah that's definitely 1 way to get weened off sodas. My body wasn't going to be that friendly to me - it acquired the taste of diet soda pretty quickly when it saw regular wasn't coming back lol.

08-07-2014, 07:16 PM
Hey everyone just want to say great job and keep it up!!!! We got this! :)

08-08-2014, 01:44 AM
I finally had a loss again! It felt like that scale hadn't budged in the right direction all week, but I'm down to 261.

Started a new anti-depression med and I have been feeling really off, so I hope that clears up and I can get back on track.

08-08-2014, 06:37 AM
hi al:hat:

My scale finally listened to all my beging lol starting weight 231.44lb todays weight 224.84 I am so excited. The wind is blowing so hard now will get "resistence" training in with my walk today:rofl:

How is everyone doing?

We are having a "drive in" party @ the farm for all the kids in the area:woohoo: so am super stoked about that. Good to see everyone again, will just have to be very strong:lol3:

08-08-2014, 09:15 AM
Morning  Happy Friday

I am down 0.9 to 193.3. We are having another dance rehearsal at work this afternoon, so yay for my cardio workout. Will have to be really good this weekend.

Morning  Happy Friday

That is awesome well done, you must be so happy:carrot:

08-08-2014, 01:31 PM
I've been on a "staycation" at a local winery since Wed -- leaving on Sun! Much needed. I've been doing about 30 min walking and 30 min pool exercises every morning to keep my weight under control. We'll see at the weigh in on Monday! I'm only asking to still be in the 230's and I can work with that! :-)

08-08-2014, 08:59 PM
My weird knee is acting up since I did the yoga workouts earlier in the week, but it seems to be better today so I'm planning on another Eoin tomorrow. My legs were sore yesterday also.

But I seem to have somehow managed to lose 5lbs. Yay Me! My Hubby is strictly a "meat and potatoes" guy but he will occasionally put up with a veggie meal. Today I fixed half cauliflower half mashed potatoes. I suspected he wouldn't like it but he said it was OK. It reminded him of spaghetti squash and 'could we have that soon?". I was surprised. There was a lot of garlic and butter involved however.

Kelly, I do a low-impact version of the HIIT DVD. I'm actually a big klutz so just focusing on one exercise at a time makes my workout easier.

JenJen, hope the new scale is more obedient than the last. :dizzy:

LGW, your staycation sounds wonderful

08-09-2014, 08:39 AM
This turned into a crazy busy week that I hadn't anticipated to be so busy. My exercise was low but my food intake was decent, until yesterday. Hubby suggested we go out to eat, which was great, but while I voted for a place I could get something like fish and salad, he talked me into (it wasn't hard) our favorite pizza place. I had 2 slices (I could have eaten twice that easily) and salad. I hope that it won't ruin my opportunity to see a loss on Tues.

Next week shouldn't be so busy, so hopefully I will be back on track with exercise and checking in here. I need BOTH of those elements to help me get out of the 220s for good!

08-09-2014, 12:59 PM
Wow, look at all the losses this week! Way to go ladies!! Very inspiring and lots of hard work being done!

Chelainabear, good luck with the new meds. You can conquer them :) I hate feeling off, whether it's due to a new med, or due to work/family/life...I just want to wake up happy and raring to go! But we all hit the peaks and valleys unfortunately! Stay here; we will cheer you on!

papercut, a drive in party sounds really fun! I will check the weather channel to see if any crazy gail force winds are being reported over there in your neck of the woods :) haha congrats!

Kukkie, congrats girl!! I know you enjoy those losses. Yay for cardio! I need to get my butt back in the gym.

LGW, nice! I cracked up at the image of a staycation at a winery. Envisioning you sitting there in the wine cellar and just drinking the wine for 4 days straight. With the way work is going, that sounds like a dream vacation right now!!!

patchwork, wow great loss!! Glad the hubby is coming around to partially healthy food groups, lol. That is pretty impressive for him asking for spaghetti squash. I love that stuff!

Sarah, yes I need to follow your plan too. Crazy month at work pretty much derailed me and my plans and motivations. I was exhausted by the time I left the office at 7:30pm every night, so I set my alarm for 6am and only 1 day was I able to pull myself out of bed and workout. So...need to find a way to calm down the work stress and add in the cardio. When I do cardio, I am less likely to eat bad foods, so need to get this formula worked out!

As for me, not the best week - no cardio and made awful choices in the evenings. However, still lost 1 pound for the week. Not going to ask questions; just thanking my lucky stars it wasn't a 5 pound gain like I thought! Going to take the loss and run with it this week!!

08-09-2014, 01:04 PM
akelly - your vision is correct LOL
It's a resort/spa at a winery! I've been tasting wines and drinking mimosas by the pool! BUT...I've been at the pool EVERY morning at 7AM when it opens to walk laps and I've walked the last 3 mornings. I did walking laps in the pool for 1 hour this morning -- continuous with no breaks. I can't really swim, so I just walk the length of the pool. :-)

08-09-2014, 05:07 PM
I did 40-min of yoga today. Lets hope my weird knee takes it in stride. Ha Ha.

08-10-2014, 02:19 PM
Akelly--congrats on losing that pound, especially in light of thinking you'd gain. Cardio is the trick for me...if I exercise, I eat so much better. Let's aim for a week of good cardio and good food. But I feel your pain about exercising at 6AM. I'm a morning person, but not for exercise that early. I hope you have some time later in the day.

LGW--a resort/spa at a winery! That's brilliant. And good for you for fitting in exercise. Walking laps for an hour!! That's great. It should burn off a glass or two of wine. :)

Penguin--I hope the knee is happy. Good job with the yoga. I love yoga, but never seem to make the time for it.

After eating pizza for dinner on Friday, I was smart at lunch on Saturday. I told hubby before we ate that he could have both left over pieces. I knew if I heated them up first, I wouldn't have been so generous after smelling it cook! I had a salad instead. If I don't do anything stupid between now and Tues morning, I think I'll show a loss. I hope!

08-11-2014, 09:07 AM
Morning everyone

I did relatively well on Friday and Saturday and then yesterday, everything hit the roof. We went to my mom's place for lunch, went to my cousin's house for coffee in the afternoon and then my in law's place for dinner. Entirely too much eating. Somehow, I managed to come out of it unscathed. The scale showed me at 193.2 with my clothes on! (I completely forgot to weigh myself before getting dressed for the day). My goal for today is to chug my water, just in case the food from yesterday wants to try to bite me in my rear end tomorrow.

08-12-2014, 09:03 AM
Kukkie Glad the scale was showing a loss with your clothes on! I hope that translates to an even bigger loss without clothes today. Sounds like you did a good job surviving so many food-related events on Sunday.

I lost the pound I gained and one more, so down to 218. That's 9 lbs in 10 weeks. I'm trying hard to focus on that being okay, but I sure wish I could have one week with a substantial loss. But my ultimate goal is to be at or close to my goal next spring, so I need to just keep going and accept this slooooooow process, I guess.

08-12-2014, 09:11 AM
Hi everyone,

the scale is down a bit more:carrot: 224.1 yippy

not the greatest loss but its 6lbs this month.

08-12-2014, 09:11 AM
Whoooshhhhhh! Down 1.3 to 191.9. Yay. Desperately need to get out of the 90s this month. I've been saying that every month for way too long. I will be focused.

08-13-2014, 01:17 AM
LGW, that sounds amazing. Congrats to you for getting up and working out when most people go to chill and get out of their normal routines!

patchwork, yay for yoga! 40 mins a quite a long time in my world...bet that was refreshing. Sounds like a good way to shake up the workouts.

Sarah, thanks for the encouragement! I did make time tonight to hit the trail and jog 1 mile. I want to do more but at the end of very long days, it's going to have to be good enough to spend 15-20 mins doing what I can. I am also wayyy out of shape, even compared to a monthago when I could do 2 miles nonstop. Crazy how the body loses all the fitness gains if you don't stick with it!

papercut, 6 pounds so far for August? Either way, 6 pound loss is great!! Keep it up, they add up fast!

Kukkie, wow what a whoosh! Congrats, you have sooo deserved it and I know you've been battling for a while like me. Glad this gets you within reach of the 80's which I know could do wonders for motivation!!

Had a great day today. Yesterday not so much. No cardio and ordered pizza after a long day at work and travel day. Today I was on plan 100%, went grocery shopping to have food in my mini fridge so I would have no excuses to order in after work, and made myself leave the office at 7pm so I could hit the trail and get a mile in before dark.

Hope everyone has a great, productive Wednesday!!

Rennie, where are youuuu....

08-13-2014, 09:26 AM
Good morning y'all. Starting to feel like ghost town in here...

 papercut, Sarah and aKelly!

I'm down 0.1 to 191.8. Such a tease, but better than nothing. I woke up feeling very stiff (we're in desperate need of a new mattress), so I also think my muscles being tight and retaining water played a part in that. Made a good healthy dinner last night, resisted the temptation of ice cream for dessert, and I brought my lunch with me this morning. I'm on a good roll. Just need to keep it up.

aKelly - yeah, we have been battling together for a while now. I'm glad you were able to get your mile in; you're right - doing what you can is infinitely better than doing nothing. Good on you!

08-13-2014, 09:59 AM
i started the 14th July, i wish it was for just August, but i am taking what i can get lol. had another whoosh so now i am 222.8, i was on quite a stubborn standstill so i am sooooooooooooooooooooo not going to cheat or celebrate.

decided to start doing the Zumba tapes i bought a couple of months ago, my my my i am unfit but laughing so it is all good.

hope everyone is having an awesome one:hug:

08-13-2014, 01:47 PM
Great job on all your weight losses!!!!!

08-13-2014, 11:14 PM
Kukkie-- Sooo close...I bet you'll be out of the 190s so soon. This WILL be the month. Keep up the good work.
Pappercut--I love the image of you laughing as you do the Zumba. You get extra points for an ab workout with all that laughing.
akelly--nice rebound after the pizza day. Nice job getting that mile done after work. It takes good motivation to go right after work like that.

I took a long walk today. It was perfect weather...not too hot. Then a friend came over for a late dinner and I made a big pile of veggies. It was a good day.

08-14-2014, 09:29 AM
Fudge popsicles. I'm up 2.2 to 194.0. Seriously unimpressed with my scale. I'm not taking it too hard though, because as I was eating dinner last night, I noticed that it was too salty. I did fix it for my lunch this morning, however I'm sure it's contributing to some water retention. Despite having had 2L of water prior to that, I actually felt dehydrated and so chugged another 0.5L of water. So yay for getting my water in; it's been a long time since I was successful doing that. I'm sure that once the retention lets loose, I'll see a better number on the scale.

 Sarah

Rennie lady, where are you? I miss you when you go back to work

08-14-2014, 11:20 AM
Hi :)

Would you guys mind if I joined in this thread? I know Im half a month late but better late than never? haha

A little about me: I lost 90lb over a year and a half period of time, two years ago.. and gained back about 40lb.

I need to get down to 145 to be healthy and happy with myself again, this last 2 years has been filled with problems and depression and anxiety and I couldnt control myself, and let myself down.

I just started a serious diet and exercise program and I have lost 3.8lb so far and am really happy.

I am hoping to hit 7lb by the end of the month :)

I wish you all good luck and lots of will power, and looking forward to seeing you all through your succesful journeys, xoxo

08-14-2014, 03:20 PM
Persianprincess--Welcome...it's always the right time to join the group. Good job getting back to it before you gained the rest back. I've done THAT too many times! Pat yourself on the back for being 50 lbs down and heading back down again.

KukkieGood job with the water and booooo for the scale bouncing back up. I hope it goes right back down tomorrow, and even a bit further. :)

I have a long day at work, but took 20 minutes this morning before my day began to run/walk on the treadmill. It felt good to get it done right way. Giving up some of my coffee time is not always easy for me!

08-14-2014, 04:06 PM
Great week everyone! Very inspiring and impressive!

Kukkie, yeah - the salt can definitely play tricks on the scale. Plus all the extra water may be stuck somewhere in the muscles - I'm sure you're body will naturally detox and flush itself out! Prepare for the whoosh :)

Sarah, good luck at work! That's awesome that you got on the treadmill this morning!

Persianprincess, welcome!! Everyone is always invited - I join the threads like the last day of the month sometimes. Just to say hi and get some motivation.

papercut, enjoy Zumba!! I love watching people do it - but as for myself, no way! Not yet - not with this body!

jen, thanks!! Hope you're week is going well!!

As for me - losing about a pound per day this week! Ran 1.5 miles yesterday after work...we had pasta at lunch for a co-worker who is leaving the project so I mostly ate the chicken and broccoli...then ran a little bit longer than I planned. Hoping for a stable weekend and not a gaining one!!

08-15-2014, 01:16 AM
My weird knee is fine now. I've done some yoga almost every day but today.

My dad had his back surgery and is starting the recovery process, but he feels unwell and just wants to go home, which may happen tomorrow.

Princess, Welcome, glad to have you join us. being healthy is hard and we tend to fall back into old habits quickly. We've all been there. don't be too hard on yourself.

08-15-2014, 08:58 AM
Morning y'all :coffee2: I'm down 0.8 today to 193.2. Still not happy about the salt gain, water retention, but it's coming down slowly.

Princess - welcome! Agree with Penguin, don't be too hard on yourself. The important thing is that you're here and working your way back.

Penguin - how did the surgery go? Does your dad have restrictions on what he can/can't do during recovery? Glad to hear the knee is better.

aKelly - fingers crossed for a stable weekend, for you and me both!

Sarah - good for you for getting in that workout early. I hear you on not giving up coffee time easily. Many of the ladies here can attest to it being almost impossible for me. I don't function without caffeine.

Rennie - hope everything is well with you

08-15-2014, 02:09 PM
Kukkie, the Dr seemed pleased, poor Dad has to wear a brace, and the recovery is supposed to take 6 months of 'taking it easy'. I've haven't seen 'the list' of restrctions yet but I'm sure Dad will be going stir-crazy before the week is out.

I managed to download a bunch of audio yoga podcasts to my phone, Since I can usually barely manage to download pictures this was a major deal for me.

08-16-2014, 08:59 AM
Kukkie--I hope the scale is continuing downward.

Penguin--too funny about your downloading skills. Good for you for figuring it out. You're a tech genius.

Although my "official" weigh in day is Tuesday, I usually check the scale a couple of other times a week. I am so used to bouncing between 218 and 223 that when I got on the scale and saw the needle near a "5" I was instantly annoyed with myself, thinking it was 225. But...it was close to 215! As long as I can NOT mess that up this weekend...I look forward to a good weigh in on Tuesday. Fingers crossed...

08-16-2014, 09:53 PM

The wedding was great - it is always so nice to get together with everyone and celebrate!

Ended up a little longer than planned - had trouble with the A/C, got that fixed, then a few days later the power steering went (Hose came disconnected). But we dealt, nothing was major repair, and we still had an awesome time for the most part.

Maybe a little too awesome, I ate and drank (we were in wine country, after all), and completely fell off plan and am up 3 lbs. Back now and back on course today, and feeling more sure than ever that I am eating properly now. I really didn't feel all that great eating off plan.

Persianprincess - Welcome!!

Looks like everyone is has had a good week - Yay!!

08-18-2014, 05:28 AM
morning all, down 222.2 have TOM so hoping for a whoosh when its done. i am finding that i have no urge to cheat or crave anything that i can"t have so feeling very confidant atm

08-18-2014, 11:48 AM
Ate out on Friday, three events in one afternoon/evening on Saturday, ate out again yesterday. Felt like throwing up this morning. Not doing very well over here. Didn't weigh myself all weekend, this morning I'm at 194.0

08-18-2014, 03:54 PM
Jollyjude--sounds like it was worth being off plan if it made you appreciate not just the weight loss factor of being on plan, but also the way you feel.
papercut--a loss during TOM is great. I bet you have a loss to look forward to next week too.
Kukkie--Ugh. Don't you sometimes wish you could just say no to all events? I feel your pain...I hate when I want to be on plan and then I have events events events. And once I "blow it" at one event, I have trouble getting the mindset back. I hope today turns out to be a decent food/exercise day for you so you can start getting that mindset back. Pounds that just came on come off quicker than pounds that have had time to settle in, says me. :) Hang in there.

I got in the treadmill this morning and ran/walked for 20 minutes. I've been relatively consistent with being able to walk 5, run 10 (very slowly!) and walk 5. A few months ago I couldn't run more than a few minutes straight, so that's good. Weigh in tomorrow...drinking lots of water today.

08-19-2014, 09:23 AM
Had a really good eat day yesterday, perhaps not enough water. Up 0.5 to 194.5. Immediately after my weigh in this morning, I thought I'm going to take a few days away from weighing in and logging in here; part of me wants to say forget it. But I can't and I won't. Because then I'll just end up back here a few days, weeks, months from now and wonder how far I could have gotten if I had just stuck to it. It's hard. It keeps getting harder. It's frustrating to have been stuck in the same decade for so long.

I also think part of the problem is the onslaught of food allergies that I was diagnosed with in December derailed me. I don't know what to eat half the time. Sometimes it seems like the only things I'm not allergic to are carbs. Ha! I'm going to see a naturopath or something along those lines, and see if I can't get something resolved. A few people have recommended it to me, so we'll see. Anyway, as always, thanks for letting me vent. Onwards with the day.

08-19-2014, 12:07 PM
Kukkie...I was weighing in everyday and just got to discouraged even if I had a loss so I am trying my VERY best to do it once a week 2 at the most! Hope you can figure it out!

Papercut awesome job on the weightloss!

Sarah ...awesome job on weightloss! I started the c25k a couple weeks ago it kills me every week...LOL

Jolly....glad the wedding went well :)

08-19-2014, 11:48 PM
Kukkie - Hang in there, hopefully if you can get through this, everything will fall into place and you will feel better - we are here for you.
Not everyone can take the daily ups and downs of weighing everyday, you have to do what is best for you. And vent all you want!!

Sarah - Awesome work with the exercise and keeping up with the water:cp: - I find water helps hugely with my weight loss.

Papercut - Good job on the loss, and I am impressed with your positive attitude!:goodvibes

I have lost most of my gain from the food and wine orgy on my holiday. Back down to 171.6 today - only up .6 from when I left.

08-20-2014, 06:05 AM
yippy again a big whoosh 219.3, i know i will stall soon, i started so slow but the sticking to the plan has really paid off.

hope everyone is feeling as positive as i am. thank you all for being here!!!!!!!!

08-20-2014, 09:57 AM
Down 0.6 to 193.9. Was hoping for more, but such is life.

08-20-2014, 12:19 PM
Yay for the BIG woosh Papercut!

Kukkie....glad your headed down down down!

I am not weighing in until Saturday! This was my High Carb week so feeling a little nervous!

08-20-2014, 02:28 PM
Kukkie... Down is down, so yay for you!! One day at a time, it all adds up

Papercut....Awesome loss!! I am with you, feeling really positive:dancer:

Jenjenangel....Keeping my fingers crossed for a great weigh-in on Saturday for you. Don't know which program you are on with a high carb week, but that would make me nervous too- I can't do carbs(except some fruits and veggies) - if I start on them I can't seem to stop

I am down 2 lbs. today to 169.6 - Yup that second number is a 6:D

08-20-2014, 02:33 PM
Jude...so awesome you are in the 60s!!!!

I'm doing Chris Powell carb cycling. I tend to use fruits as my carbs....I don't do well with potatoes or breads!

08-20-2014, 06:35 PM
I started feeling sick last week, like I was getting a sinus infection, I weighed as usual and gained back 3 of the 5 lbs I had lost. So I got discouraged, then Hubby went out of town for the week and I got depressed, too. So I'm not doing very well, but trying to hang in there. I felt like getting back on my feet and did some yoga from a podcast today.

08-21-2014, 03:36 AM
:carrot:Hi all,

i am really riding the wave at the moment, down to 217.8 I have relly limited my salt intake and given up coffee so maybe my body is just thanking me lol.

08-21-2014, 09:15 AM
Yay papercut! And yay Jude for getting into the 60s :dance2:

Penguin - I hear you, I've been feeling down and out of sorts lately too  We'll get through it.

FINALLY - a whoooshhhhh. Down 1.3 to 192.3. Odd because TOM also arrived yesterday, but hey, I'm okay with all of that. Just what I needed to get energized again.

08-21-2014, 05:23 PM
I lost one of the pounds I had previously lost than regained.

I did 40min of yoga flow today and 50min yesterday.

08-21-2014, 06:20 PM
Penguin great job on the pound!

Kukkie way to go on the down!

Today is my run day don't feel like it so hope I can manage some energy!!!!

08-21-2014, 09:41 PM
I spent my afternoon eating too much because work was stressing me out and I decided to fall back on old, bad habits. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. I came home ate a modest dinner and brushed my teeth. I'm drinking water now. Bad choice to begin with, but good recovery.

Good to see so many weight loss posts above. Great job, all!

08-21-2014, 09:50 PM
Hit the skating rink last night after aerobics! Used my own iPod songs and had a great time!!!! :-)

08-22-2014, 07:55 PM
Sarah - Good job on the recovery. Isn't it amazing how hard it is to keep the old bad habits away? It's like an addiction, they will always be there, we just have to keep our defenses up against them.

Kukkie - So glad for your whoosh, and with TOM too!

Jenni - Hope you found your energy, and if not, just find it for another day.

Penguin - Good for you on the pound loss, and for all that yoga!

Papercut - I limit my coffee, and I wish I could limit salt, but I know I use too much of it. I am sure I am a salt addict, but my blood pressure is great, and I drink a lot of water to flush it out, and I am losing, so I guess maybe I don't use as much as I think I do.

LGW - Was it ice skating or roller skating? At first I just assumed ice because that's mostly what we do here way up north!

I am down 2 lbs. since Wednesday to 167.6:)

08-22-2014, 09:44 PM
WOW I haven't been on since the 4th of August ...

Kukkie no disappearing :D like I can talk  Glad to hear Peanut was a trooper with the needles, Rissa was like that also :)

Sarah, I am all of a sudden having these chocolate desires. That has never happened to me before. I get it then I'm done for a day or two. Not sure what that's about. I hope to settle in soon with work and everything also :crossed:

akelly I'm here just not here ;)

Not purposely leaving anyone out. I will try to get more caught up soon

My weight has been between 159.2 and 162.2 for the most part. (my maintenance area for now) I got up to 163 on the 18th. I need to get myself together though so I can have some sort of loss for the month. I was 158.8 on 8/1 so I've got to get below that.

You all take care

Welcome to ALL newbies to 3FC and to the thread ...

08-25-2014, 08:47 AM
love2b150 Great to see you here. I think maintaining isn't a bad idea for awhile while you get into your new routine. Be proud of yourself for that and don't stress about losing. Just make sure it doesn't start creeping up!

My weekend was decent. I still feel like this is a super slow process, but I guess I have to accept that. I think if I could eliminate weekends, I'd be okay! :)

I hope everyone had a good weekend.

08-25-2014, 09:11 AM
This month is a wash for me, and I've come to accept that. Had another wedding this past weekend. Great time, but I hate that the Indian culture is to serve dinner so late, especially since the food is heavy. Tried to limit myself, but late is still late. So I'm back to working off a weekend gain. Annoyed by this. Going to do my very best to get in my water everyday this week and while I'm in California, to help offset some of the food that we'll be eating through this wedding weekend. Back from California and I'm going to stay focused and make September mine. Just have to survive a few more days of insanity. At least that's it for the 2014 wedding season for me. Oh right, up to 194.8.

08-26-2014, 07:35 AM
awe, down to 215.8 am a happy baby all this disipline is paying off. stiff far to go but i know i can make it

08-26-2014, 09:57 AM
Down 1.1 to 193.7. All this food is wreaking havoc on my system. Woke up at 3 am because my stomach was in knots and I desperately had to go to the bathroom. That's NEVER happened to me. Anyway, continuing to chug the water today.

08-26-2014, 10:51 AM
Kukkie - I feel for you!! Hope things get straightened out with your stomach soon - could it be some of your food allergies?
Weddings are wonderful, but they can totally create a mess with the eating plan. I was away for a wedding earlier this month and totally off plan, and I did not feel very good at all. Was glad to get back to eating clean and healthy.

Papercut - Keep it up - you can make it:cb:

Rennie - Glad to hear from you, and sometimes our bodies just need a break to maintain for a while before continuing onward and downward!

Sarah - Slow is not a bad thing, as long as there is progress, that is what is important. A weekend is only 2 days, take it 1 day at a time.

Down 1.6 to 165.8 today:D

08-26-2014, 11:19 AM
Jollyjude--keep up the good work. At this pace, you'll be well out of the 160s in September.

Papercut-- you too..great job on the steady losses!

Kukkie--I hope you feel better soon and this is a one time thing. And I'm glad you don't have more weddings lined up! It is so hard to have constant events...all the good work gets undone in a few days of too much food. Here's to a good September loss!

My weight is the same...217. Better than a gain.

08-26-2014, 01:10 PM
This month just sucks...LOL I started on 7/21....7/21-7/31 lost 9 pounds now its like a slow go only lost .4 in 10 days!

08-27-2014, 09:06 AM
Morning y'all :coffee2:

Last weigh in for me for the month, as I leave for vacation very early tomorrow morning. Happy to report I am down 1.5 to 192.2. I forgot that I had actually started the month off with a gain, so I'm very happy to report a loss for the month. I'll be back on Sept. 4 to assess vacation damage. Enjoy the last week of summer before school starts!

08-27-2014, 12:12 PM
My scale is FINALLY moving down 1.8 to 235!!!

08-28-2014, 11:21 AM
Hi ladies! I haven't been on this site all summer. I just wanted a break from all the thoughts of weight loss lol. I'm settled into Virginia and I just wanted to enjoy the summer at the beach and doing fun stuff with my girls and ex-husband.

Now that the summer is coming to an end, I'd like to get back in gear. The good news is, I lost some weight....I'm down to 166.75 lbs. I think I was around 174.50 before I left here. Having an active summer helps ;)

Good to be back!

08-29-2014, 07:49 AM
Olivia--welcome back! Look at you...almost at goal! I'm glad you're settled in and enjoying your new place. Good to have you back.

08-30-2014, 11:59 AM
Olivia...welcome back!

So I can't weigh tomorrow so putting August loss at -6.8!!!

08-30-2014, 07:10 PM
I haven't being doing much on the weightloss front over the past week or so, but today I did get some yoga in, hopefully I can stay on the exercise wagon, maybe I need to pull the thing instead, :dizzy:

Olivia, nice to meet you.

09-01-2014, 02:35 AM
I'm sorry Ladies, I completely forgot until now. Thank goodness I don't have to work tomorrow.

Olivia :welcome: back ... so glad to see you

Kukkie Enjoy your vacation :) Good job on your loss for the month :high: Kukkie my stomach is hurting tonight (this morning) I ate too much good food. My Mom is here for the holiday and we cooked a feast. Everyone's belly was full :D

Jenni nice losses this month :high: I have months like that when I lose slowly just look at my stats. Sometimes we have to shake things up and add a few more calories then bring them back down to get the scale moving the way we want again. I'm trying to do just that again but it's hard right now with not being able to prepare dinner like I want, but I'll get there hopefully .... soon :)

Thanks Sarah :) I'll try but it's annoying to see the same numbers back and forth on the scale :dizzy: I hope to check in more in September :crossed:

Jude, keep up the good work, nice losses there :high:

Penguin LOL on pulling the wagon... me too :)

I gained a pound in August. The carb monster is getting me most evenings because it's quick and easy. I want to lose 10lbs between now and the end of the year, not sure how but I'm gonna try.
