It's June!! Summer is QUICKLY approaching! And for the first time in a VERY long time, I'm ready for it! :D

This morning TOM came, BUT I was still down 1 lb from yesterday to 174.50! That's awesome! Less than 10 lbs until my next mini-goal! ;) I am relieved to know that I can walk into any non-plus sized store and find clothes that fit me with no problem. I walk out the house with tank tops on. It feels so good lol. Summer, bring it on! By next summer, it would be nice to be strutting in a bathing suit lol :D

Thanks for the welcome, love2b! I always join in with good intentions but never follow through to the end. Well, no more!

I'm doing something a little different. I'm going to keep my portion sizes small but I won't count calories until I stop seeing a loss on the scale. Ultimately it IS calories in vs calories out but I tend to get so obsessive about each and every calorie (and the fact I can't truly know the *exact* amount of calories in a food drives me insane). So... baby steps.

Weighed in today and so pleased to see I was in he lower 260s as opposed to the upper 260s just a week ago. I officially started today but I was still being conscious of what I was putting in my body for the past couple days.

I am leaving for 6 weeks in Europe on June 16. I'm reluctantly not taking a scale with me, and will have limited internet service anyway. So, I'm setting this up for up to the 16th! My dream is to be below 230 by that day...but, it's not very realistic. I'll be happy with any loss up until then! I'll be back to the boards August 1st! :)

Good afternoon Ladies, Happy Sunday to all :)

:woohoo: Olivia great way to start the month :) Congratulations on 1lb gone :high: LOL, It took me a long time to remember not to go to the plus section in stores, my oldest would look at me and say Mom why are you over there? I'd just shake my head. It does feel really good. I wore a bathing suit (actually some bottoms and a tank type top) at my daughters pool two weeks ago. My children are my biggest cheerleaders, Mom you look fine take off that dress :), I felt so good :)

LadyPetite, do you use a calorie counter like MFP? It does help and you can even scan bar codes and build your own recipes. SO it will be accurate for you. But baby steps is great :)

Heidi you may surprise yourself and be at your mini goal by then, you just never know on these journeys :)

I am down .6 to 160. I'm happy with that. On my way to my daughters again, going to hit the treadmill first then hop in the pool to wade around. Hopefully my shins will stop hurting. Oh and TOM is here finally.

Heidi - NICE! Europe! I've always wanted to go! I'll get there one day ;) And ANYTHING is possible so you never know...you could reach that mini-goal by the time you leave. Don't count yourself out before you start :D

Rennie - My girls, although I'm sure are much younger than yours, are my biggest supporters too! They always tell me, "Wow Mom! You are skinny now!" lol They are my princesses, they make me feel so good lol :) Nice weigh in today! Any weight loss now will put you back into the 150's!!

Today I weighed in at 173.75 lbs. I am completely satisfied and content with my weight loss. I've reached every goal I've wanted to reach thus far and I'm very confident that I will see my ultimate goal for the first time in my adult life lol. That's going to be quite exciting! Until I get settled in after the move, I'd just like to maintain this weight, and then get back into weight loss once settled in.

I should have a countdown for my move.....12 more days! :D

Thanks Olivia :), my girls are 10 and 21. My 10 year old has always told me I was skinny even at 197 which is the highest weight she can remember. My oldest when she was 6 or 7 told me she didn't want boobies because mommy has 6. I thought it was too funny to be mad at the time, plus she was little and kids are brutally honest, but it has stuck in my head every since she said it. She has been very supportive of my weigh loss since I started in 2010. But in the same sense will say you can have "what is not in my plan" it won't hurt. But she doesn't realize that it will hurt mentally for about 3 days on the scale and that's only if I can snap back after the cheat. She weighs 120 soak and wet standing at 5'5. ... ok ending my funny sob story.

Olivia you are on your way to the next decade my friend, I am so happy for you. You gonna be ready for your swimsuit before next summer (or did you mean this summer) I think you'll be ready this summer :hug: I hope I can keep this moving in the right direction. :)

Well this morning was a shock ... I am down another 1.4lbs to 158.6 this is a new adult low (prior to having children). Next mini goal is 155.

Olivia - Good luck on your move! Those long, across-several-states moves are TOUGH. I moved from South Carolina to Texas in August 2012, then from Texas back to South Carolina in August 2013... and some time this summer will be moving from South Carolina to Indiana (or possibly Kentucky)... Kudos to you for not eating your kitchen during the stress of moving prep! I'm a stress eater and fight that monster daily.

Quick hello.

I weighed in at 193.4 yesterday and then up today to 194.5. Went to a bridal shower yesterday and ate cupcakes. Silly me. Smh.

Working from home today, or trying to anyway. Peanut is sick again. We have a doctor appointment at 4pm. I'm sure it's just a common cold virus, but I'd rather have the doctor check him out. He's been congested for a few days now, but yesterday and today all he wants to do is sleep. Little bodies are building immune systems. I suppose it goes with the territory of the first year in daycare. Sigh.

Mandy don't be confused :D there are different people on each of them, groups of people with bonds formed. I've started one since I came back, didn't want to join the other one (I think in April there were 3) ... just subscribe to the thread you'd like to join, makes it easier to find :D

sunshine :wel3fc: and the thread :) What are you doing to reach your goal? Good job on saying no to the cookie :high: Check in often, the support on the threads is pretty OP (OnPoint). Good luck to you on your journey :)

Love2b, I do use MFP but I don't use it very religiously. I do use it occasionally to look up calories, sometimes. But yes, definitely, baby steps :)

I'm new here and not sure how everything works, but I'll try to figure it out as I go. I love the idea of a daily post so I'm starting here. I've lost weight enough times to know what to do, but I am glad to have found a place to get the support of others.

My plan for right now is to eat better and exercise more...brilliant huh? :)

This week and next week are going to be busy weeks in my life so I will start with a small goal of at least 20 minutes of exercise 5 out of the next 7 days. I put stars by those days below so I have a plan and a place to be accountable. I will note afterwards if I accomplished my goal. I'm not going to count calories yet. I'd rather see if I can just make better choices and lose weight. It's worked before.

Morning everyone!

I'm back down a bit to 193.8. I'm setting a small goal for myself, but it's one I'm determined to achieve. I absolutely must see the 180s by the end of the month. It's been entirely too long since I've seen that number. However, something is happening, I fit into a summer blazer today that I haven't been able to wear in about 4 years. I was so surprised.

Anyway, on the Peanut front. He has slight redness in both ears and throat, start of an infection; caught it at a good time apparently. Antibiotics were prescribed. No fever through the night or this morning, so back to daycare he went. Hubby is at home painting and doing some small fixes, shelving and such. Too hectic over there. So Peanut and I are going to go stay at my mom's for a few days. She's out of town, but my brother is still around for company.

LadyPetite, I use to use it at leisure but I get into trouble that way. It really helps me put things into perspective. Like the one Reese's cup I ate this morning, so not worth the 12 carbs but oh well, I ate it. :)

Sarah glad to have you join us :wel3fc: and to the thread :) I'm glad you have a plan. I wish I could get through my head to do 20-30 minutes of moment a day. I know it will help. I just always think one hour plus on the treadmill or nothing. And that's why I always get stumped. I'm sure you'll have great results on your journey. :)

How will Peanut sleep at your Mom's place? Will he sleep with you? Is that gonna make for sleepless nights when you go back home? Just a thought ... I did this five times, but only 2 didn't care if they slept with me or in their own crib/bed or not :)

Mandy I hope you are gonna continue here. I like the smaller threads also, another reason why I start my own thread, small and more personable IMO :)

I'm up .6 to 159.2. I hate these ups and downs but it is what it is. Hopefully I'll get some movement in today and get things moving in the right direction again :)

Thanks Rennie I've received quite a few compliments on the blazer today. It's a nice feeling. Peanut will probably sleep with me; he does have a playpen there as well that he could sleep in, but he's sick. And he typically doesn't do well on his own when he's sick - looks for extra comfort, so he sleeps with me at home during those times anyway. He's usually pretty good about adjusting back quickly, the odd time it takes longer.

Pre-trip weigh in (early, I usually do Fridays) showed 317.6, so down 2 from Friday (that includes 2 restaurant eats!) and a total of 12.4 so far... So, I'm doing something right, I think. :)

Rennie - I'll continue to pop in here occasionally to check in... I just don't think daily weighing is right for me at the moment. :)

Kukkie - Sorry to hear about your kiddo, hope he feels better soon!

I made it to the gym burn was 559, doing 4.56 miles on the treadmill. Felt good. I hope the scale will reward me for my extra effort :)

This morning I'll go walking, then maybe a little bike riding, then back home to do some more packing. I'm making progress.

Rennie--nice job on the exercise yesterday. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the scale sees your efforts!

Olivia--I'm impressed that you are losing weight while in the midst of a move. Good for you. When is actual moving day?

I decided to only officially weigh in once a week because my scale isn't digital so it's hard to tell small changes. But I am using the daily post to plan and note my exercise. I find that if I can get regular exercise, I do better with eating too. Since I got up early, I think I'll add a walk in this morning.

Sarah - I don't have a digital scale either and my scale weighs in increments of 4 ounces, which is pretty small ;) As far as the move, right now I'm packing up my old place (the rooms I have occupied in my parents home) and I'll be getting on the road in 11 days (including today). I have an eating plan in place for the entire transition so hopefully I can stick to it. :)

Morning everyone. Slept at mom's house last night. Weighed in on her scale at 194.1 after breakfast. Not holding it as a "true weigh in" because a) I had breakfast and b) different scale.

I think hubby should be done today and we can sleep in our own beds tonight. We'll see tomorrow.

Thanks Sarah :) it did ;) I do better with eating when I exercise also. I think in my mind I know that I can burn off any additional calories so I don't feel as deprived of what I wanted. Exercise for me = mindful eating :)

Calories today are higher than I wanted but not too bad. Hoping not to have too big of a gain in the morning and still be in the 150's :crossed:

I did find a GREAT app today for my phone. The gals at work were talking about how much they love it. I tried it out and found that I have been eating WAY too many calories per day. Yikes!!! who knew hummus had so many calories. I downloaded it tonight and did pretty well with only a -1 over my allotted calories for the day. :) by the skin of my teeth! LOL. Good thing I went on that walk today.

Anyway, the App is called MY FITNESS PAL. Now I can check my progress each day. It says at the rate I am going I will loose 5lbs by July 4th. It takes into account my gender, age, weight and height. I made my goal 150 which I feel good at but I have always had to work to maintain it. So it will be a slow and steady loss, but I am ok with that, because I this to be a life changing way of eating and exercising. I want to be healthy more than I want to be skinny. (if that makes sense)

Mary which hummus do you eat? I eat Sabre red pepper hummus and there aren't a lot of calories in it. I use myfitnesspal also to track calories, carbs, protein and sodium. On there I am love2b136 ... the barcode scanner is great when you are in a hurry and for getting the correct counts on recipes

Olivia--sounds like you are in a good place with the whole weight loss thing...I'm impressed you have such a good plan. Sounds to me like you have a good chance to stick to it. Half the battle is having the plan! Good luck with the move. I hope the reason for the move is something fantastic. :)
Mary and Rennie--I make my own hummus. It's really easy, and I use almost all water instead of olive oil to thin it. I've never figured out the calories, but it has to be less than store bought.

Thanks, Rennie & Sarah! Yes, planning helps me tremendously. I'm moving so my kids can be closer to their father who is in the NAVY and stationed in Virginia. They miss him a lot. I am sure this move will lead to something fantastic! I'm just going with the ebb and flow of life ;)

Today I was up 0.25 lb to 173.00. What's funny is, my waist measurement and hips were a tad bit smaller this morning lol. My size 12's are a bit loose in the waist. I'm loving it! I'm going to see what I can push out at the gym today as far as jogging mileage. I'd like to get in at least 2 miles of jogging. We'll see! :D

Olivia Since you've had such an amazing weight loss, I'm sure you know that weight fluctuates a bunch. I'm sure that quarter pound will disappear quickly. And way to go on the loose size 12s! The confidence you get from that will help make your transition to your new life even better. Here's to great things!

I am going to take a long walk with a friend today and I'm really looking forward to it. Good exercise and free therapy! I've been eating well and can already tell that when I have my weekly weigh in next week that the scale will be my friend. I'm so glad I found this message board forum!

I just finished lunch and I feel so awesome! I prepared a raw organic salad (green leaf lettuce, grape tomatoes, carrots, onions, cucumbers, olives, avocado, mushrooms & fresh jalapeno pepper) and whipped up a fresh dressing (olive oil, apple cider vinegar, raw honey, fresh garlic, fresh lemon juice, dijon mustard, yellow mustard, sriracha sauce, worcestershire sauce, sea salt & black pepper). I licked the plate when I was done lol. My body is very happy right now :D

I jogged 2.5 miles today and feeling good!! Dinner will be a vegetable stir fry.

My poor little doggie! she did it with me. she is already sleeping. On a funnier note, my undies and workout pants kept riding down my roll of a tummy. hee hee. It's sad I know, but still it gave me a chuckle. if you can't laugh you'd cry.

Oh and Rennie, I don't know what kind it was, I already threw it out. We were all talking about it at work last night. I did make some delicious spicy black bean dip that I ate with cucumbers, yumskers and only 74 calories for 1/4 cup. Don't think I ate that much but on that app it said for homemade that was the amount.

Hi all!! Man, already 5 days into the month - time is flying!!

Not much time for personals today but glad to see new faces in here as well as the oldies :) I lost 5 pounds in May and targeting the same or a little more for June (will be in Europe for a week so the goal is just to maintain that week).

Sarah, I'm sure it's healthier no doubt :). I've never tried to make hummus. Please share your recipe :) I didn't know I like it until a friend bought it and I said let me try it. The Sabra has 70 calories, 4 carbs, 2 grams fiber, 2 grams protein for a 2 tblsp serving.

Your information may be healthier than the person that input that. You will notice on MFP that people come up with the craziest numbers some only adding net carbs or not adding the sodium and such. Just compare a few things that you eat to what's already there :) Just about everything I've eaten today had to be corrected. Just my two cents :D Please share your spicy black bean dip recipe. I like to try new things.

I am up 1.2lbs to 159.6. I have had a completely unplanned off point day but I have enjoyed it all. I hope I now have all of my snacking out now :D since I can't think of anything else that I want. I do plan to have some beans and maybe a corn muffin for dinner. We'll see :)

Spicy Black Bean Dip
Author: Savory Sweet Life / Alice Currah
Prep time: 5 mins
Total time: 5 mins
Serves: 6

Quick and easy black bean dip that is delicious and healthy!
Ingredients

black beans, drained and rinsed
fresh salsa (mild, medium, or hot)
fresh cilantro, including stems
fresh lime juice
cumin
garlic salt
chili powder
kosher salt

they don't give you any amounts, so I just winged it. I used one fresh lime, a handful of cilantro..a 1/4 cup of salsa and about a tsp. each of cumin, garlic salt, and chili powder. skipped the kosher salt. It could have been more spicy, so next time I will add more chili powder.

What I love about logging the daily weigh-in on this site is that it makes my goals seem more attainable! When I see 248...but my goal is only 240-244 for the month and I see I have so many days left to make it...I know it's possible!

Olivia--I can't wait until I get to where I have no worries about all this stuff. I've been there before, but right now I'm certainly not. It'll come. Good for you for doing the hard work to get to that place.

Rennie--Hummus: In a food processor or blender put 1 can of chickpeas, drained, about 1/4 cup of Tahini (I tend to use a little less), the juice of one lemon, salt, and garlic and some water. Keep adding water until it's the right consistency. I usually don't add all the lemon juice at once and then just put it in and taste till it's right. Same with salt...just add a bit at a time. You can also add roasted red peppers, or herbs, etc.

Overall a good day...I had a great walk and ate relatively well (a little more at dinner than I needed, but it was all healthful food).

Well dinner didn't go as planned in my head and I ended up having a slice of cake from Harris Teeter. My calories today were much higher than they have been in a while. I did 4.75 miles so I'm feeling good about that. I will probably have an up on the scale but it'll go back down on Saturday so I'm good. I will make tomorrow a healthy day :)

It took going through the fire, but it's all worth it to come out shining like a diamond ;) Life will be what it will be. It's much easier to just ride the ebb and flow than resist.

Today I am up 0.50 lbs to 173.50 lbs. So I'm up a total of 0.75 lb from my low. Just normal water fluctuations. I'm thinking about maybe charting my daily weight here like LGW was saying.

This month, I don't have any weight loss plans. My only goal is to maintain the 170's. Then by the end of July, I'd like to hit my mini-goal #3 of 165.00. I've been losing super fast the past 4 months, so now I want to start practicing maintenance here and there. When I look at my ultimate goal, it's only 43.50 lbs away!! I've given myself until June 2016 (2 years) to reach that goal so I have PLENTY of time! :D

I'm sorry I haven't had much time for personals lately, but I read daily. Work and life have just been so incredibly busy that I don't have the time to write messages to each of you right now, but I'm sending positive vibes your way to each and every one of you.

I am up this morning, but not nearly as much as I thought I would be. Up 0.3 to 192.6. Interesting. I'm feeling dehydrated this morning though, all the caffeine that I've been chugging to wake myself up. I need to balance it out with water today.

Olivia -- my cousin has maintained for a very long time and what she does is eat healthy "most of the time"

She has lost over 100lb with FAA and maintained for about 5-6 years

When I've had dinner with her, although I tend to show a complete lack of self control, she will order a salmon dish or some version of a protein and veggie dish. She tends to try to eat healthy most of the time if a healthy option is available and I've actually been trying to do the same.

There are also certain things she just DOES NOT do anymore, so her "falls" are not as bad as they used to be i.e., she no longer loads her Chipotle' meal with guacamole, cheese, sour cream...she just doesn't do it anymore. She has developed some healthy habits over time.

Also if she has a carb crave, she may "binge" on good veggies and the like until it passes or go vegan for a few days

As for myself, I am trying to develop a list of things that I will no longer do. The reality is -- life happens -- and you have to figure out what works for you.

My short list: :-)
--Protein drink before any events or parties
--$3 limit IF I end up at a fast food restaurant
--If I get weird cravings, I prepare a lobster/crab dinner at home
--Try to eat protein and veggies most of the time
--fill up on the good stuff first

LGW I love the $3 limit on fast food. I never thought of limiting it by $$, but I see how that could definitely work! Clever.

Yesterday was a good day. Food was in line and exercise was great. I did a 3.5 mile walk/run with way more walking than running, but I pushed myself more than I have in awhile and it felt good (afterwards, at least!).

Today I have a graduation party to attend. I'm sure there will be lots of good food. It's that time of year, so I have to figure out a way to get through these upcoming events without ruining the week in one day! I think I'll bring a piece of gum to help me avoid picking at things I don't want/need.

LGW - I LOVE your ideas! And it's great what your cousin has been able to develop over the years. I am noticing the same things happening with myself. I do not desire to pollute my body with foods that are filled with things that I know will stress my body in the long run. I feel SO much better when I eat foods that are filled with nutrition. I've been eating fruits, vegetables and oils all week so far and I haven't felt better! And not only do I feel good and have loads of energy (I jogged 2.5 miles yesterday effortlessly), nutritious food can taste VERY good! I add seasonings and spices that bring the food alive and it couldn't be more delicious. I have learned that eating clean and healthy can be very satisfying to the mind, spirit and body :D

On that note, I'm up 0.50 lbs this morning to 174.00 :D I've been climbing up over the past 3 days but I know why. I'm coming off a week of juicing and as always, my body will climb about 2-3 pounds up before it stabilizes and starts heading back down (I've gone up 1.25 lbs so far). The human body fascinates me. I just love it! ;)

ETA: I took my measurements again this morning. 30+ inches gone! :D

It's time for me start changing up my exercise routine and I'm thinking about ordering Focus T25 to start in July. I'd like to do that along with my jogging. I'm in a cut phase and I'm going to hold off on heavy lifting until I get to 130. I hate doing any kind of exercise longer than 30 minutes and I have Insanity already. I've done 2 full rounds of it in the past. The workouts are just too long for me to keep motivated and doing them. I think I will order Focus T25 and start it in a few weeks.

My nieces and sister-in-law came over and we had a BBQ since it is my last weekend in Michigan. I had already eaten all my meals for the day by the time they got here and then I ate more at the BBQ lol. I hadn't had meat, bread, dairy or starches in 18 days and I had 1/4 of a BBQ chicken sandwich with mild cheddar, mayonnaise and mustard on thick texas toast grilled with homemade garlic butter on it lol. Yeaaaah, I had a food-gasm in that moment lol. Then I was popping grilled asparagus like it was candy....then washed it all down with some seltzer water lol. I was going to take a rest day from the gym tomorrow but I probably should go :D

Thought I'd check in. I haven't been doing so for ages.

My rowing machine arrived yesterday and I finally got to use it today. I love it, but the only issue is that it squeaks a lot (probably because I'm at the higher end of it's limit). I did 15 minutes on the machine as well as level 1 of the 30 day shred. Food wise, I ate a bowl of cereal (raisin bran), a cheese stick and a turkey breast sandwich. It's less than I normally eat, but I woke up really late so only ended up having 2 small meals in the day.

On the plus side, the scale is showing me 1lb lighter. I'm quite happy since I'm expecting my ToM soon, and now is normally when I'm a bit bloated (fingers crossed for a whoosh in the next week).

Rennie Thanks for the will power dust! That made me smile. I think I could have used a little more of it, but it definitely helped! I think my friend might be doing the C25K...it's some program on her phone. I was not able to keep up with whatever day she was on, so she just ran ahead and I did what I could do. Sometimes for me, it's easier to not have a specific goal with something like that. I tend towards quitting when I can't do what I'm "supposed" to do. Instead, I think I'll just do what I can each time and call it good. We'll see...
Donna--Good reminder to yourself (and the rest of us). It's so easy to get frustrated and then make worse choices. Keeping our thoughts in the right place is as important as the food and exercise part.
Olivia You make that BBQ sound SO good! Glad you enjoyed it! Sounds like a great going away bbq with your family.
ILoveVegetables--Yay for the scale and great job with the rowing machine. I got a used one from someone but I don't use it enough. Maybe you'll inspire me to dust it off!

The graduation party I went to was amazing. The food was SO good...not the typical graduation party food. So I ate more than I wanted, but I was happy with my choices. I stuck to (mostly) healthy foods and only had one small dessert. Yesterday was also a day off of exercise, but today will be good food choices and some sort of exercise (depending on the weather). I'm glad I picked Tuesday as my weigh in day...I don't want to step on the scale today!

Sarah, I have tried C25K so many times. I've started out slow like I was told and then sped up and then the second time to speed up I haven't caught my breath from the first time, so idk what I'm doing wrong as far as the breathing goes. It may be just that I am trying to do it on the treadmill. I told my son that I'd like to try it out doors and see if I can do it but we've never made it to an outdoor track yet. I'm with you on just doing what I can. It still makes me feel good that I've done something and it's more than I use to do or could do :) Yay for making good choices at the graduation party.

I keep forgetting things on MFP. I added another item I ate but it still wasn't a bad day overall. The scale rewarded me with 158.2 this morning so I'm happy. My kids have been on me since before church to go play basketball against each other so off to the gym we go. Have a joyous OP Sunday everyone, see you all later :)

I have entered my last week in Michigan! Yippeee!! I have packed up my scale so I'm done weighing for the next 2 weeks. My goal is to be no higher than 175.00 when I step on that scale again, which will be June 23.

Today I will head to the gym and try to jog 2.5 miles, then run some errands. Other than that, I'm all packed up and have nothing to do! I think I'll take a late morning nap :D

I exercised on all the days I wanted to this week and ate well most days. Tonight I was really hungry (ate lunch too early) and ate more than I needed at dinner, but not bad choices (bad quantities, good foods). No matter what the scale says, I did what I set out to do this week, and for that I'm happy.

I am home from my trip. :)

Weigh in to check the damage in the morning. I'm not *too* worried, even though I know it'll be up, I also know that's probably from all the sodium and restaurant crap I've had to eat over the lat several days. I've done my best to track my calories and from my guesswork I didn't go over, and on the 1 day my guesswork put me really close to my limit, I probably only went over by a couple hundred calories. A few days of prepared-by-me food, lots of water, and back to my regular walking routine should take care of all that and hopefully show me a loss by Friday. :)

My weekly weigh in was 223, down 4 for the week (first week, so some of that is definitely just from stopping the junk). I'm happy with that, though I remember the days of 7+ pound losses the first week...but that was pre-menopause. It's all so much harder now! On to week two.

185 this morning. I was a little off on my IE yesterday - Late night Sunday meant I would have to wait until 3 to eat - decided not to do the whole 16 hour fast and ate at 1:00- back on it today.

Morning everyone. I'm up again, pesky fluctuations. 192.4 for me this morning.

I'm off from work this Thursday and Friday - hubby's cousin is getting married (big fat Indian wedding), save me from the food!!!! And I'm a bridesmaid. And my brother in law and his wife are flying in for the wedding as well, so it's going to be hectic. Point being that I'm stressing myself out at work trying to get as much done today and tomorrow as I possibly can. I have to remember to drink water, I barely had any yesterday and this morning I woke up completely parched.

Donna - yes this winter was HORRIBLE! Where in Michigan do you live? I've been living in Novi since 2008. But I grew up (20+ years) living in Southfield. Can't wait to get out of here! This time I'm not coming back lol

Rennie - Yes! Accept it, let it be and watch what happens! That's when the scale will start to pleasantly surprise you :D

Five miles did end up being a breeze for me surprisingly! I did 5.2 miles. I jogged 50 minutes straight at 5.0, then jogged 10 minutes at 4.5, then cooled down between 3.2 - 4.0 for 5 minutes. I recovered extremely quickly too and wasn't even out of breath. Whaaaaa?? I'm very happy about that!! :D

Lunch will be a nice size salad (green leaf lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, kalamata olives, onions, serrano peppers, avocado, bacon & mild cheddar) with a homemade spicy honey mustard dressing (olive oil, fresh garlic, sea salt, black pepper, apple cider vinegar, raw honey, lemon juice, yellow mustard, dijon mustard, worcestershire sauce & sriracha sauce). Yaaaaaaasssssss! :D

Yesterday wasn't great for me. I should have walked in the morning but thought I would have a break in the evening, but that didn't happen. So no exercise and then a rushed dinner that wasn't well planned. I ate too many calories for the day.

Today I will go for a walk/run this morning and that will set the mood for a much better day.

Good morning everyone.

Down 0.7 for me today to 191.7. Nice to see that second one, it's been a long time. It puts me in a really good place going into this crazy wedding weekend, which starts tomorrow.

Rennie you're right. I married into a very big extended family and they all seem to have this mentality that every event has to be grandiose and done with such fervour. It's draining, both physically and financially. Not sure when our culture will catch up to the times (if ever). In any case, I am the MC tomorrow night, so I'm looking forward to some time off work and just enjoying the festivities.

Mandy nice loss even on your trip!

Olivia likely won't be able to check in tomorrow or Friday, so just wanted to wish you the best of luck with the move. Look forward to seeing you back when you're settled.

Thank you, Sarah! Yes, I did lose practically 70 pounds in 4 months! No, I did not have weight loss surgery lol. I just happen to have found the absolute perfect weight loss formula for my body and it's been working like a charm ;)

Donna - I also lived in So. Cal! I lived in Los Angeles for 3 years and San Diego for 2 years before coming back to Michigan in 2008. I've never been to the Newaygo area. Need to visit sometime!

Kukkie - thank you for the well wishes! :D

Today I did the elliptical for the first time this year. I got a nice burn in. After dinner tonight, I will be packing away my cast iron skillet, not to be used again until I have reached my destination lol....so I'm done with cooking after today...which will be weird because I cook every single day. Finding food outside of my kitchen sucks...but I'll manage well :D Tomorrow will be my last exercise day at the gym! Awww...I'm going to miss the people there.

Donna, I got stuck between 168 and 172 I think it was and even bounced back up to 176 a few times. I always hope that I can learn from previous issues and not do the same thing again but I am finding that no cycle on this journey is ever the same and my body needs constant change. I am trying to figure out what to do now to get things moving again. Hopefully I won't have too big of a gain in the process :) Good job on your 5 mile walk, keep up the good work :high: Hoping your cold symptoms go away :hug:

Olivia--I know you're busy and I get it if you don't have time, but if you do, I'd be interested in knowing what it is that has worked for you. I understand all bodies and brains (since so much of this is in our heads as well as our bodies) are different, but I bet there is something to be learned for what you have found that works for you.
Mary--I have graduation parties too. This will be the third weekend in a row, and I have 2 more after this. It's hard to stay away from all that food. Good luck!
Rennie--I like your attitude...knowing that when you get tired of the hole you're digging you'll climb out. :)
Donna--great walk on the treadmill. I find it so much harder to walk that many miles on the treadmill vs. outside. Good for you.
Kukkie--good luck with the wedding weekend.

Today was a good day for both food and exercise. Tomorrow I have two walks planned with 2 different friends. I find if I commit to a walk with a friend, I do much better about getting it done.

Mary--nice job on the 5 lbs! It is amazing to think of it in terms of something like a bag of sugar. And your muzzle idea for grad parties made me smile. It would be funny to show up with a pretty summer outfit on and a matching muzzle. I try a piece of gum...it sometimes works. At least I have to actively spit it out before I eat.
Rennie--I hope you shake the carb thing soon. Sounds like you're confident you will, which is great.

I had my run/walk and my second walk, both with friends. The run/walk was cut short because I wore my old sneakers and they were really hurting my feet. So no matter how muddy or wet it is outside, I will wear my new shoes. I have a walk scheduled with another friend bright and early tomorrow morning before work. When I exercise regularly, I eat better, so I'm glad that at least for now, I have some friends to help me get up and out walking.

I am calling it (flag down) "today is my LAST splurge day." I went to our family cookout and I ate and I ate. I didn't over stuff myself because I kept chugging the water. Every time I ate something I got another bottle of water. I got a lot of compliments and I wore shorts for the first time in forever. My daughter said, "I didn't know you had short shorts!" Mind you these shorts came mid thigh/end of my finger tip but she considered them short. :dizzy: I told her I have another pair daddy picked out that are a little shorter ;). I was surprised that he liked them but he did so I have them. My belly needs to go back down again before I can wear them and look decent ;). A lot of bloating damage has been down since Thursday (just sad) how quickly that happens. Weigh in today 163.8

We're going to a fathers' day brunch and we have a grad party this afternoon. The grad party is mostly desserts, so I am stating clearly that I will eat nothing there unless they have a fruit or veggie tray and then that's all I'll eat. I don't need desserts or chips, so I won't have them. I will report back on my success.

Survived 2 parties yesterday -- one of which had FIVE cakes! I stuffed myself with any protein or protein-like food I could find! I tasted the dips without the chips! Had plenty of water! No alcohol and NO cake! phew!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Heyyyyy, I'm back after a serious weekend of insanity. The wedding was fantastic. My sister in law made a stunning bride. However four straight days of catered Indian food equals a lot of sodium. Ran around like a madwoman to make sure things were happening as they should, so I didn't always eat, and then when I did I probably ate too much because I was then too hungry. Oh well.

Didn't step on the scale this morning. I kind of don't want to see. I've got a massive water bottle (1.5L) that I picked up with my coffee this morning, so I'm chugging away. Will see what the scale says tomorrow and go from there.

Rennie Nice job on the good eating and scale pay off. I know you'll keep it going.

The weekend was okay. I did well at the grad party until the end. I stayed to help with clean up and I ended up cleaning up a cookie or two. But all in all, not terrible. Yesterday, for some reason, I had a bit of a cereal binge mid day. I wasn't hungry, just probably stressed. I need to find better options.

Today is my weigh in day. I'm down a pound. I was hoping for more since it's still early in my weight loss, but oh well. I'll take the pound.

Going to walk/run on the treadmill in a few minutes. I find when I plan exercise later in the day, it is much less likely to actually happen. I will do it now.

So I finally weighed in. Not happy, but not surprised. Up 4 lbs to 195.4. I know a lot of it is sodium bloat, so I'm happily chugging water down. And I need to go grocery shopping tonight and stock up on some clean eats. My goal for this month was to get out of the 90s, and I have just under two weeks left to manage that.

My weigh in today was 311.8... which brings me to 18.8 lost total since May 11, and 6.4 so far for June. My rings can actually move on my fingers again! YAY! :)

I made it to the gym. My intentions were to burn 535 calories but I only burned 353. I couldn't find my sneakers ... why?? because I left them in the gym on Sunday after my shower :dizzy: then I had to leave by 4:35 to pick up my boys, but at least I did something :) My throat is starting to hurt. I took some generic Day-Quil I sure hope it helps.

Doing my exercise in the morning yesterday worked. I got it done early and then didn't have to listen to myself whine through excuses of why I was too tired in the evening! I will do that again today.

My eating isn't great, but isn't horrible. That's not a great recipe for weight loss. Time to focus better on what I eat. Those little things are adding up. It's the handful of crackers or even fruit that adds up quickly when I'm not paying attention. Today will be about focusing on each bite and deciding if I really want it or if I'm just grabbing it.

Well, after a whirlwind weekend of 3 parties and traveling to another state to help my daughter find and apartment...I gained one pound. :( I kindof knew it. but since being home I have been faithful to my exercising every morning and eating well. Haven't hopped on the scale since Mon, but will tomorrow. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Hope everyone is well. Keep up the good work ladies!

I don't know what hit me all of a sudden :?: I'm a little better today though :) MFP = myfitnesspal.com I love the site. There is also fitday, fatsecret, loseit and I know there are others to log your food. Keeps me in check sometimes unless I decide I don't want what I have logged :dizzy: that's when I typically mess up because I eat what isn't planned :) I wanted to go to the gym but today is my husbands only day off and I figure if I have a shake for dinner like I had for lunch I should pretty much be ok. It I only go down .2 like today I'll be happy since it's not an up on the scale :)

Mary I think you did wonderfully with the pound. I would have gained 3-5. Keep up the great work and working out in the morning is pretty great :high: ... :crossed: for a great weigh in tomorrow :)

I was down .2 to 160.2 this morning. I think it would have been better but I have discovered that hot sauce and vinegar help my throat. So I got some chips pretty late last evening and doused them with hot sauce and vinegar. Taste really good and felt good going down. Sodium stopped me from seeing my 150's but better luck tomorrow because I have been OP all day.

We loss power after a freak storm and decided to go to my daughters to cook. The power came back on as I was getting things together but her Daddy said, let's go anyway :) We made our baby's evening ... she got to spend time with her family and had dinner to boot, that she didn't have to cook nor clean up afterwards ;) and I got to go to the mini gym for my 2.19 mile treadmill walk. I really really want to see the 150's tomorrow, pleaseeeeeee :)

Weighed in at 193.3 this morning, although I'm inclined to believe that it's off because my scale has been flashing low battery for a few days. Will change the batteries and weigh in tomorrow for a "true" reading.

Peanut has been sick lately, so I've been exhausted taking care of him. Crazy virus going around at his daycare - half the kids were out sick this week. He's back there today and I'm in the office. Oddly enough, it feels like a retreat of sorts. I've been pulling double duty working from home at all hours of the day and night and taking care of him. So glad it's the weekend, but I have a lot of work to catch up on. Plus we have a three different events this weekend. Hubby said we'll likely not go to all of them because we're just insanely tired and don't want to kill another weekend attending functions. We'll see how it goes.

Mary--One pound after all that seems like you did really well. I could gain 5 lbs in that time with that schedule. I hope the scale moves back down next you decide to hop on.
Rennie--so close to the 150s...keeping my fingers crossed for you. Sounds like a nice evening at your daughter's. I also hope you continue to feel better.
I've never heard of myfitnesspal...I've heard of some of the others. I will check it out. I'm trying to do this without letting it take over my entire headspace, but we'll see. If just eating well doesn't work, I'll move to journaling it. Ya know, I think there are people who don't think about food/weight loss all the time. I can't imagine going a day without it as a constant background in my head. Whether it's that I'm happy because I'm doing well or mad at myself for not doing well, or counting calories in my brain or whatever, it's always there. It would be nice to have one week (or one day even) without thinking about all this stuff all the time. Sorry...don't know where that rant came from!

Today I already worked out. I have a lunch appointment and will try to pick a salad if there is one at this place (sort of bar food, but they must have something decent). Dinner will be filled with veggies. I just got my first CSA load this week and look forward to using some of the goodies.

I am on vacation visiting friends in MO. I have already ate steak two days in a row! But nice thing is they have a pool in the back yard, so no excuses for not exercising!!! I am trying to track my food but it's easy not to do when there chips and all kinds of food I don't keep in my house. I have managed to maintain my 25 lb weight loss over the past 3 weeks but no new loss. So my goal for vacation continue to maintain and take advantage of the pool!

Down 5.8 so far this month...hanging in there...still walking at least 30 minutes a day :-) No fast food since at least Apr 10th (I do have ribs every weekend...but with very little to no BBQ sauce)

Apparently I have no concept of time. I came on here thinking it was the 30th today and I didn't make my goal for the month, only to realize, hey I still have a week left!!!

So didn't get around to replacing the batteries in the scale because they're special batteries that I need to go out and buy, not AA like I thought (that was my old scale). That said, I weighed in this morning at 192.8. Still not sure if it's a true reading, but I'll take it for the moment.

I've got everything I need at home for a successful healthy eating week. I am going to rock this last week of the month. I don't know if I can lose approx 3lbs in a week, but I'm sure gonna try!

My husband and I were out of town for a couple of days. It was his birthday weekend and I definitely helped celebrate too much. I still exercised pretty well, but I had way too many calories. I'm hoping the beginning of the week will make up for the weekend and at least I won't gain. We'll see in the morning.

Morning update: gained a pound this week. I deserved it, but I'm not happy with myself.

Just got done reading what I'd missed. I'm having lots of computer issues so it's hit and miss getting on here! I am at 181.2 today - hopefully it will stick! I have been walking either outside or on the treadmill 5 miles a day 5-6 days a week.

We are getting ready to be out of town for over a week - the hotel has a fitness area (we'll see how good it is) so I'm hoping to get over there daily - we'll see. I am coaching a bible quiz team and they come first that week- it is the National competition. I am also bringing a crockpot, blender, and food so that I am not eating out every meal.

Well I've fallen out the wagon for sure. The scale went down only to go back up. I wish I could say I'm going to rock this last week of June but at this rate I highly doubt it. My throat has been bothering me off and on. No fever and only a little phlegm, no cough, no sneezing, no runny nose. I am hoping to at least get back to 160 by June 30th because that is what I weighed on June 1st. Today's weigh in 164.8 and TOM is here.

Donna I hope your computer hits more than misses...that's frustrating. Wow, great exercise. I hope you can keep it up on the trip. Good luck!

Rennie I'm so sorry your throat is still bothering you on and off. Maybe allergies? I hope it and TOM both go away soon so you can rock the end of the month. Scatter some more of your will power dust your way and hang in there. We get to start each day anew...I hope tomorrow feels better for you.

Again I had a good exercise day and a mediocre food day. Ugh.

Down another 0.4 to 191.9 this morning. Yay me. Although I've been having some cramping and TOM should arrive any moment. We'll see how the end of the month goes.

5 more days!!! I encourage everyone to review their personal goals from the beginning of the month and work hard to make it happen!!!! Make that extra step to bring it home!!!!

I had a great meal with the kids last night, hadn't had a meal like that in a while. Today's weigh in 166.2, TOM is here with a vengeance, hoping it will be gone by Friday.

One more weigh in and then I'll be away from the scale (I could pack it I spose) and tomorrow is my birthday.... to weigh or not to weigh hmmmmm.

Today though 179.0! I might take that as my early birthday present :)

A bit of a bounce back this morning. Up 0.4 to 192.3. It's okay. TOM is late but I can feel it around the corner. Uber cramping. Sigh.

LGW - I like that you plot your weight to give you a trend. The visual is so handy! I'm going to start doing that for myself! Especially since I'm on a computer all day at work anyway :)

Rennie - I second the "are you sure it's not allergies?" I get like that with my seasonal allergies, feels like I'm sick but it's really just allergies. Try taking an antihistamine, see if any of your symptoms go away? Feel better lady :hug:

TOM should be gone tomorrow, thank goodness. I ate what I input for a change on MFP yesterday and it paid off. I am down 3.2lbs of bloat. I didn't get all of my water in though thanks to my throat. I've done better today though and sipping some green tea also. Still hoping that I can make 160 by 6/30. I can't toot my horn because if I do I'll blow it ;)

I made http://juliasalbum.com/2013/04/asian-salmon-and-noodles-recipe/ for dinner last night. I used chicken instead and it was a hit. I was told by the person that shared the recipe that I could substitute the pasta for zoodles for a low carb recipe so I will try that next time. I used a little bit more Sriracha sauce than most of the family would like but they all finished it. I even ate a little pasta. So good :) While looking at the site I found a chocolate chip cookie recipe that was simple to make and I had all of the ingredients for that. Those too were very good. So with all of my deliciousness last evening I am up 1.4 to 164.4.

Rennie Glad your feeling a bit better. I hope that continues and all it takes is a Zyrtec. Hopefully whatever you are allergic to goes away soon! And good job getting the scale moving in the right direction again.
KukkieBeing that close to the 180s is pretty darn good. It will make the first week of July rewarding if you don't get there in June. But as Rennie said, you might be surprised.

I'm still doing well with exercise and not as well with food. But I will focus on the "not where I used to be" part and be glad that in my first month I'm at least consistently exercising.

Thanks Sarah :), consistently exercising is a plus in my book. When I first started on this journey in 2010 I use to eat at lease one to two frozen meals a day, not thinking about the sodium. I was clueless since I was just starting and I was journaling my food by pen and paper so I only wrote down the calories but I was walking 5-6 days a week and it definitely made a difference. I know I'd be closer to goal now if I could just get more movement in. Have you been on 20 days yet? Are you able to add your ticker?

My kids begged me to make those cookies again yesterday and I said NO continuously. There was no way in this world that I was going to make them and not eat them so I stuck to my guns. I will make them a nice batch after July 1st. I am back down 1.2 this morning to 163.2 so I have 3.2lbs to get rid of before Monday .... Ladies it may seem petty to some but if I don't lose any weight in the month I REALLY DON'T CARE but I do care if I gain in the month, drives me nuts and gives me a bad attitude for a few days. So I need to do this, hoping I can. I started having some major bloating and cramping in my upper abdomen yesterday that got progressively worse by late evening. Felt like contractions because they would come and go. Stomach still a little crampy this morning and TOM is gone so I'm thinking gas. I ate some bran cereal yesterday and two Activia. I wonder if that was the culprit but it should be gone today, or maybe not since I haven't had a bathroom visit yet, stupid bowels, nothing works for them, smh.

Rennie I have been on for 20 days so I suppose I could do the ticker. Next time I have time I'll look into it. Where do I find it? I'm glad you're feeling better. Good luck with that last 1.4 lbs, but don't sweat it if you don't make it. If you make it by July 1 or 2 that's really not much of a difference. Don't let the page of a calendar ruin your day!

For me, food was better today so far and dinner is planned and mostly vegetables, so that'll be a good end to the day.

Thanks Sarah :), I know because I have messed up so much this month it will be mind blowing for me to not at least break even. I technically would have only loss 1.8lbs this month because my low was 158.2. But it was still a number I had not seen before. I'm hoping to not allow it to ruin my day. My son and I have decided that we will do all that we can to lose 10lbs this month. That may be pushing it but I'll give it a shot if he sticks to plan so can I. He needs to do it for football, not really lose just toning would be great, but for his overall health, I want him to come down some. So I will do it with my son :)

Ending the month at 192.4, which is down 1 lb from the first. Not as great as I would have liked, but truly happy by it considering our social calendar was insane this past month. July is a quieter one, only one wedding this Saturday and mom's birthday, but that's it for major things. I'm also on the tail end of TOM at the moment, so all things considered, not too shabby.

Tomorrow is Canada Day for us. Most people took today off as a vacation day to make it an extra long weekend, but I chose to come to work. It'll be a nice quiet, no meeting day that I can use to catch up. Hope you all have a happy Monday.

In looking at my stats I weigh the same thing today that I weighed on May 31st, 160.6. May I was up .8 for the month, June I am up .6. I need to keep a clear head so that I can get passed this 158-160 zone.

ETA: I looked back over my stats again and I have only loss 2.6lbs since April 1st. So not good, WOW!

Looking forward to a better month in July :)
