South Beach Diet - Have I heard right????View Full Version : Have I heard right???? summer0123 07-21-2003, 06:14 PM Did I hear somewhere that peanut M & M's are O.K.? Somebody please help, I'm dying for some chocolate! Thanks!:m: ellis 07-21-2003, 06:33 PM No! They are not alright! Sorry, Summer... nice try sweetie. sflake 07-21-2003, 07:33 PM Summer: I thought I heard the same thing. Ruthxxx 07-21-2003, 08:03 PM You must both be hallucinating! dentrassi 07-21-2003, 09:58 PM ACTUALLY, they ARE okay, but not in phase 1, and only in SMALL AMOUNTS (read: I CAN"T STOP AFTER THAT MANY!!!) Maybe just in phase 3, I don't know. 2BFIT1 07-22-2003, 09:43 AM I don't know about the M&M's but has anybody in phase 2 tried the Pistachio Bark recipe yet? (pg 241 in the book) It's made with semi-sweet chocolate and roasted pistachios. It sounds wonderful for that "I need a taste of chocolate" feeling. :cloud9: ellis 07-22-2003, 11:55 AM I'm too scared to try it, Sil. It sounds REALLY good! Speaking of pistachios, it's really really important NOT to eat too many. Bad things happen. dentrassi 07-22-2003, 12:02 PM You're not kidding! When I was a kid we would sometimes buy a 5 pound bag and just eat them until they were gone..... Ruthxxx 07-22-2003, 01:24 PM Ellis and Den, you are supposed to remove the shells! Geez! flagirl 07-22-2003, 02:02 PM If you have ventured over to the Prevention board, you have probably gotten the impression that Peanut M&M's are ok. There seems to be a lot of discussion about that particular treat on the boards. Additionally, the glycemic index in the book has probably contributed to that as well, as it rates Milk and peanut M&M's the same. dentrassi 07-22-2003, 04:09 PM Ruth-WOW!! All these years and i never knew!!! I bet they're easier to eat without the shells too!!! Do you have to buy a special shell remover? Ruthxxx 07-22-2003, 05:45 PM Actually, Den, I have seen several special shell-removers advertised on eBay! Maybe you can get two so Ellis has one. Glad to be of help. meg 1+2 07-22-2003, 06:10 PM I have a bridge for sale....if that's not too appealing, how about some land in Florida????? Have a great day~~~~~~~~Meg dentrassi 07-22-2003, 06:41 PM HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! You both have 2 for 1 specials?!?! twodogmom 07-22-2003, 08:22 PM You guys crack me up!! My thoughts on the M&Ms question. They have a lower glycemic index, but GI is not the only criteria that we should be using to decide if something fits into our eating plan. GI only tells us how quickly a food will make our blood sugar and insulin rise. I'm not sure, since I don't have a bag in front of me, but they probably contain a lot of saturated and/or trans fats, and don't have a lot of nutrients. Now, having said that.....they are one of my favorite food groups, and one day I hope to be able to taste them again.....if I can control myself enough to eat them in "moderation". <img src="http://bestanimations.com/Food/JunkFood/MM-01.gif"> twodogmom 07-22-2003, 08:24 PM Oops, tried to post a gif of a dancing M&M, and it didn't work. I should learn to preview my messages before submitting them. Sorry:o vBulletin® v3.6.7, Copyright ©2000-2012, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
