I did miles 1,3,5 from 5 Mega Miles. Started mile two with the band, but one of my arms seemed sore from the weights yesterday. I've been doing the arm weights for a couple months but yesterday I thought I would play the arms part two times. It's only about four minutes. Well, I guess I did too much, but I'm sure it will be fine by tomorrow.

hey gang :wave: guess you thought we abandoned y'all... but i'm still here!

Friday I walked 2 miles, Saturday I rode exercise bike for 30 minutes, this morning I did 2 miles with 2 lb hand weights. I used the Walk it Off in 30 Days dvd! and I'm still doing my planks and core exercises.

I am trying hard to get back into my regular routine. I feel bad not getting my exercise in like I should... it makes me feel tired and old when I miss it :faint:

Is the 5 mega miles different than the ultimate plan? Which one has the arm workout?
Yes, Five Mega Miles is different. The Ultimate has the arm workout. The arm workout is only about four minutes of lifting weights. I'm using eight lb weights on each arm but I started with five.
The ultimate has two miles using the bands. I like both of them but my DH who walks about two times a week with me likes mega miles better.


This morning I did the ultimate DVD, three miles.

3.5 miles of the Power Walk. I skipped the warmup and then when I had done the first three miles it had only been 40 minutes so I went another seven mins or so. I like to have 45 minutes at a minimum. Then I planked for two.

Took an outside walk today with the dogs. Watching my DS's dogs for just today. We want three miles and dogs are pooped! It is a perfect temperature but it is so humid that we were drenched. I planked when I got home but now have to rush away for errands.

I did three Ultimate Miles today. My DH was surprised I didn't take the day off since it was Mother's Day and I said oh no, it makes my day to be able to walk. Good thing we ate out two big meals and I'm stuffed!

First three miles of the Four Mile Power walk. I added arm weights too, two on each wrist but just did I it for two miles, it's hard to do the arm raises with those! I haven't used mine much lately either because I've been doing that little bit of lifting in the Ultimate DVD.
I downloaded a Leslie DVD to my iPad in iTunes. There is only one full length available on iTunes. I did that so I can start figuring out I will exercise while away. Anyway I showed my friends at lunch and three of us did about ten minutes of it. We eat in a classroom and there is a class below us taking place at that time, and we were hoping the class wasn't disturbed!

Carol - the only one on itunes was a Walk it Off in 30 days.
I don't own that one so I was fine with buying it.
I went to her website and there is that Walk TV option but they are $14.95 each and I already own them.
I just asked the tech guy at school if he has a portable dvd drive I could borrow and he says he does so I can load the dvds I want on my macbook and then I'll have them.

I am going away for 1 week in June - flying to my mom's in VA, then driving her to NY for a wedding and then back to VA. So at her house I can work out but that's just 4 days of the week. Then I get home and go away for 4 days with DH to a work conference at a hotel. I don't really think I can do it there but the hotel probably has a gym so maybe.. or at least I can do the treadmill.
Then I get home and 3 days later fly to CA to visit my DD. She got an internship in California and we had to get her an apartment so there is room for me to stay. I just bought a one way ticket. Will probably stay for 4 weeks or so. I mean, I may as well.. I'm off for the summer on my two jobs and I will still teach a class online but I can do it from there! And I've never been to CA! So... while I am there in the apartment it is on the second floor and they guy asked that we not wear shoes. I think he is Japanese. So I do not want to disobey that. It says there is a "cardio room" so I was thinking I could bring my ipad or macbook to that room and do it. DD will be working during the week so on those days I thought I could do it in the morning and hopefully it wouldn't be busy! It will be a challenge... but I never thought when this school year started I would be able to do Leslie at 4:30am every school day and I have! The only days I took off were the days after the night class!

Yes, I miss our other walking buddies too!
I'll still post while I am away - what activities I'm doing even if it isn't Leslie!

Well you are getting stronger, you can now plank for a minute! I honestly don't know how I do it either (getting up at 4:30!)

Tomorrow is my day off and I sleep in till 5:30! Just two more weeks of school but the last week is exams so really only next week for classes. However, I have to work another 1.5 weeks because I do some other jobs for the school on the computer. It's extra money so I don't mind.

Freezing tomorrow by you? Oh my goodness it was around 90 today it felt like here. Thankful for Leslie for the other extreme!

Today I did an old one. Five mile fat burner. Just did miles 2,3,4. I really like this one but had forgotten about it. It was the two minute boosts at the end of each mile. Then my usual planking and I did the arms from the Ultimate DVD.
Stayed up late to finish the grading from the college class I teach, so done there until August!

Took a six mile walk with DH this am. Weather is beautiful. Only thing is I wore shoes that I haven't worn in a while and I got a blister! Hopefully tomorrow I can do Leslie.
Been trying to get the DVDs on to my macbook but it doesn't seem possible, legally. So I think I am just going to buy a few from the website and download them. I am paying. For the same video twice but it is worth it to me. Leslie has helped me lose over 50 pounds!!!!!!!! Still can't believe it myself.

It's strange with all your exercise you would get it but I guess it just happens to all of us! I get it in a weird joint and then it will just disappear. Mine is called palindromic arthritis (I think that is what it is called - started when I was around 22).

I do not jump. When she jumps I do a light jog.
I alternate between jogging where I kick back my legs and lift my knees.

My dog knows when the stretching starts on all the DVDs. He runs over and lays on his back so I can pet his belly while I stretch my legs. As soon as I stand up to turn to the other side, he jumps up and runs to that side. This is my little mixed dog, schitzu and something.

I did 3 miles this morning! I used the 5K with a Twist dvd.

dang a one minute plank. I do 30 second planks every day. I do as many as I can do but they are just 30 seconds long... and I had to work up to that ;)

It took me about five months to work up to a two minute plank. I just do it one time a day, in between the walking and stretching.

No sorry, I don't. I take Advil for pain. That's all I ever take. Lucky that I don't need any meds for anything! I used to get headaches all the time. I thought it was because I needed caffeine. But last July when I started this diet I gave up diet sodas and I have hardly had any headaches since! So I guess it was the chemicals that were causing those headaches.

I know. I had headaches almost every day. And I would drink another soda thinking I needed caffeine! But I was up to about six cans a day. People that drink one or two are fine, I just couldn't do it.

Oh no! That will make walking hard. I was looking in my crockpot cookbook for a recipe and there was a little write up about hot red hot chili peppers are good for arthritis. I thought of you!

I walked five miles out side this am with DH. He hurt his back in a car wreck about a month ago and can't do the Leslie DVDs so he always wants to walk outside, so I do. It wasn't as hot as Saturday but still bad.

I was just reading through them and learned that you burn approx 100 calories per mile and if you add weights another 15-25. It's based on your weight. I enter my food and exercise into MFP but I have not been on the forums until the other day.

Woke up feeling dizzy! Wasn't sure I was going to walk but then realized I was only dizzy when I bent over so that tells me it is sinuses. So I did the 3 mile party walk but didn't really get into the HIITs too much - took those easy. And no planking. I started feeling great by the end but then while emptying dishwasher was dizzy again.
Gee Carol, we are having a rough month! :)

Well you have been through a lot this year so it's great that you are getting some exercise in. And it's true you will feel better with exercise but it's hard to get motivated. But to quote Leslie "you never regret exercising "

Carol - i cannot imagine what you are dealing with after a stroke! i'm sure that walking with Leslie helps a lot! I pray that you get better each day!!!

was wondering... were you exercising before the stroke?
do heart problems run in your family?
just curious... i don't think we've talked about your stroke

I slept thru my alarm this morning LOL on wednesday nites we are busy with youth at church and get home late with things to do, so then I get to bed late... and well, thursday mornings I'm usually dragging ;)

I have had sarcoidosis for nearly 40 years so that means lung problems. We went to Breckenridge and I can't breath very well there. The night before we went I told my husband I shouldn't go..........he said that I couldn't back out. About the 4th day my face was drooping and speech was slurred. We came home 2 days later but didn't go to the hospital until a week later....Mayo. They did a cat scan and mri and diagnosed it then. My dh just thought it was altitude sickness.

Carol, yes 45 mins is perfect for me for three miles. I tried doing four and five sometimes but find three is just right!
That's so scary that you went so many days without getting diagnosed!
Had you been doing Leslie walks prior to your stroke?

Cathy, doing good! I'm going to be traveling a lot starting June 11 so not sure how I'm going to get all my walks in. At least if I can't do the DVDs I can just walk wherever I am. My DD has an internship in Ca this summer and I'm going to visit her the end if June. She is just starting it today. She says it is beautiful and weather is amazing and their are lots of walking paths by where she is staying. But prior to that I have a wedding and a convention with DH to go to! So I'll be gone more than home! It will be tricky but I'll get the exercise in!

Well... I thought I knew how to put it within the message but I couldn't get it to work. So what I just tried was I clicked the little paperclip above, by the smiley face, and then selected the file on my computer. Then it should be attached to this message. But when I just previewed the message it is upside down. It shows my DS's two dogs sleeping in the back seat of car.

Three miles of the Ultimate DVD, and the usual arms and planking. I am still at about two mins and I usually try to add about ten seconds on. It's so strange because some days I feel fine at two mins and can easily stay up. But then other days I wonder if I will make it to two mins.
I'm not sure if this link will work because I had to sign up to see it, but I tried the first two exercises on this.

CalCounter - enjoy all of your traveling and vacation time. it doesn't come around that often and I know you'll enjoy it!!!!

I did 2 miles this morning. I used the 2 mile Burn Body Fat dvd with 2 lb hand weights. man what a workout when the hand weights are added!!! I sweat like crazy - I guess bec of working the core so much much keeping those weights controlled. anyway.... also did planks and other core exercises.

Oh, there are only 6 exercises. I just am doing the first three. But they said to do 12-15 reps and I could only do 6! That's what I meant, sorry for the confusion! I don't want to do those ones where you lie on the floor. That's not my thing - although I do plank on the floor! :)
