I have to take a diuretic every day and with it I'm supposed to drink a glass of orange juice for potassium. In Phase 1, I understand I am not supposed to have any fruit. Should I take potassium in a pill form?

I drink a little can of low-sodium V8 everyday with breakfast. They substitute potassium for sodium..it has 620mg. of potassium. Maybe you would want to try that. Ruthxxx 07-19-2003, 12:24 PM Tip, I take a diuretic every day too now. I take a potassium at the same time - 600 mg of slow release potassium chloride. A glass of OJ has about 480 mg. and is not slow release. I paid $9.59 for a hundred tablets so it's probably cheaper than 100 days of orange juice. Hope this helps. meg 1+2 07-20-2003, 01:38 AM Tippy....for what it's worth...I take a diuretic every day also. I used to eat a half of banana or drink 4 ounces of Gatorade with it. Since I've been on this "diet", I have eliminated both and just recently had my blood work done. Doctor said I am eating enough healthy veggies and my potassium is great! If I feel a little weak in the knees, (which I really haven't) I add a LITTLE salt (which I do not use at all) to a meal. Good Luck! We are all so different!!!!
