Hope y'all don't mind that I created this. I'm fairly new here, but the March Daily Chat was a nice start...hopefully April's thread will be a bit more active. I'm really looking forward to continuing to connect with folks here!

For April, I am focusing more on strength training and reducing my cardio. I'm also hoping to make it to Onederland this month! Though with strength training, that may be difficult, and that's okay if it takes longer. Bring it on, April!

I'm pretty new here too :)

this month, I'm focused on getting to the END of the 5 mile walk it off & tone it up DVD without keeling over. We've (my H & I) been doing it since mid march, and we're going to do it all month to get our cardio and endurance up before we try something else. I'd like to get into the two-teens this month!

I am another newbie also! :carrot: I am focusing on working out at least 4 times a week! I already eat pretty healthy but my problem is that I am kind of lazy! I just signed up on this website this past Sunday and I began my "4 times a week" work out plan on Monday. So far its day 4 and I have worked out for 3 of them! I'm starting out at a good pace lets just hope I can stay motivated!

I'm down one lb hoping to loose one more by Monday not sure but as long as I keep the 1lb I'm happy.Im eating at my grandparents again every Saturday this week it's pasta.Im hoping if I eat till I'm full I won't have like 2 or 3 bowls.

I guess this is the newbie thread, then! Very exciting! It sounds like all of you ladies are really focusing on working out - what are you doing as part of your workout routines?

Constellation, what activities are you wanting to do once you feel you're ready to move on from the video? That sounds like it must be fun to have company for those videos and for your journey!

skittles - oh boy, pasta is seriously my weakness!!!! Will there be veggies or any other side dishes you can load up on instead of eating lots of pasta? *drools thinking about mom's meatballs and gravy with pasta, yum*

I'm going to visit some family this weekend, which will probably be good in that I won't be drinking nearly as much as I would if I were home. Bf and I have gotten in a bad habit of partying on the weekends. I cut out alcohol Mon-Thurs (except I did sneak one glass of wine after a bad day at work this week). It's already made a big difference.

nonameslob its just pasta and texas toast and meat sauce.I do c25k 3 times a week.its my 3rd time restarting it.I gave up drinking for newyears with moderate success.

Hi all! I'm pretty new too, joined in February when I started my weight loss journey. I love these kinds of accountability threads but sometimes I am bad at keeping up. (Life just gets in the way)

My goal for this month is to complete the 5K I'm doing on April 26th without walking or stopping! I'm currently working on trying to run 1.5-2 miles without stopping. Some days I can do 2 miles, some days I can only do 1.5. The key is consistency though because once you lose that motivation, it's really hard to go through the work again.

Welcome, mb! That seems like tough work. I can't even imagine walking two dogs at once, then you add a stoller? Good for you!

paige, I didn't really think this was an accountability thread, more of just a general 20-somethings weight-loss chat (you'd think I'd know since I made this month's, but I really don't know what it is 'supposed' to be, haha). Anyway, post about whatever you want and no one will get upset if you don't keep up, but happy to have you. Good luck training for your 5k!

I am actually thinking about running, myself. I was at the gym last night on the regular elliptical, and I usually switch back and forth between a lot of the cardio equipment, but never the treadmill. Anyway, that particular elliptical I was using, I didn't feel I was getting a great workout and thought maybe I should try running again. I'd have to get new shoes, but, we'll see! I hate it so much lol

A 5k is my goal as well too. We have one on the 4th of July every year. I walked a mile today with the stroller I want to make it to walking a few miles pushing the stroller and then once I make it to that. then start doing the C25K. Right now I cant even walk 3.1 miles.

mb2004I think starting anywhere is such a great thing especially when you have the goal of doing a 5K in mind. I'm trying to get my mom to walk with me in the evenings but she just broke her toe while we were moving this past week so that might be stalled a bit... :/ anyways you can totally do it!! You're already doing so great!

noname Its funny you say that because that is the very reason that I decided to try running instead of exercising on the elliptical. I realized I just wasn't getting an intense enough workout anymore even when I tried different intensities, interval training, and even the cross country program. I just didn't feel like it was working for me anymore. It's hard, but it's mental. Once you've gone .2 miles, you know your body can already do it so why not do the same thing again and push it to .4 of a mile? It's thoughts like those that get me through my runs right now. You should start your workout on the treadmill! It might be the one cardio machine you'll use... :)

paigeinabook I'm so glad you said that, because I thought maybe I was crazy. I miiiiight give it a try when I go to the gym tonight, maybe start with intervals. You guys have inspired me. Just don't expect me to ever say that I love running. It won't happen :P

cleanslate that's okay, I was totally excited when I got my ticker too so I understand! Great work so far! How long as it taken you to lose the first 32 pounds?

it took me 42 days to drop the 32 lbs, I started Feb 26, 2014.
My starting weight is the highest I have ever been.

Now I need to remember how to go in and change the weight loss ticker.

Wow, that is incredible! Great work! It's taken me over a year to lose about the same amount. This tortoise-pace weight loss can be frustrating.

You should be able to edit your signature and change the numbers there in the code for the tracker.

I went to the yankee game last night.It was fun but i ate like crap but its also my tom.Ill be eating eh saturday and sunday too.Im going to keep eating healthy no matter if i make a few not so good choices i may slavage this week yet.

On another topic... I can no longer fit into any of my clothes in my wardrobe. I have VERY FEW 18s (because I made the commitment to lose before I had to buy too many pants that size), and lots of 16s. But the 16s are now too big. I don't have anything size 14/13 because I guess when I gained weight I went straight from size 12 to size 16... So I have lots of things in size 12 but nothing in between. I figure in about a month I will fit into my size 12 stuff (first time since high school!) but for now I don't want to be wearing baggy stuff at all. I want it to look like I've lost weight not have clothes draped over me. I just don't see the point in investing $50 on new pants and shorts if I will only be wearing them for a few weeks though. I guess I will just wait it out.

paige How about dresses? Wrap dresses especially seem to fit well longer since you can adjust it with the tie-around (unfortunately they don't seem to be "in" this season because I haven't had any luck finding a wrap dress...) Maybe you can buy something with spandex? Thrift shop? You'll feel better with clothes that fit, though. Just some thoughts.

I know if I didn't work at an office I'd be wearing my flowy hippy skirts every day, and I'm crossing my fingers they will continue to fit me for a while because I have a really nice collection. At least until the festival I go to every summer!

Once I shrink out of these 16s I'll be in new territory...I don't own a single pair of 14s and honestly can't remember the last time I wore that size...maybe freshman year of college in 2008-09? :shrug: I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am about that, but my wallet isn't...lol Hello, thrift stores!

I don't feel anywhere close to that, though. It took 25 pounds before I dropped a size from 18 to 16! (I was, granted, squeeeeezing into my 18s). But I imagine the gap between sizes will decrease as my weight decreases.

hey everyone, I'm not new, but am back after a long absence...trying to get back into it and struggling. I know what to do, I know what works for me and what doesn't, I know why I want to do it and what my motivations are, but doing it is really hard, I don't know why. I have more time than ever now to work out, plan meals, cook. But I just do well for a few weeks and then go rapidly off track. I think it all just seems so hard sometimes. I was recently diagnosed with sulfite sensitivity, which does limit what I can have too- without getting into boring details, that gets really frustrating. So its almost like I get frustrated, say screw it if I can't eat what everyone else can then I'm going to eat the **** out of what I can. And then I see how fit and healthy I was a while ago and am really fed up with where i am but also really stuck with it too. Repeat this cycle for a few months- I am now really over my own crap!

I know I'm probably trying to go from zero to a hundred and restart doing everything all at once- run every day, eat well AND sulfite free, keep the house tidy, blah blah blah- and should really make a plan to go gradually. But I feel like since I did it before, I should be able to just pick up where I left off. But obviously that approach isn't working.


Anyway, its nice to meet all you new people, dont do what I do, it will drive you crazy :)

Hi Ghost!! Nice to meet you, I too understand your dilemma. I used to run track in high school but college packed on the freshman 25... Which also turned into the sophomore 20 and the junior 30.... So yeah. By my senior year I was fed up and I knew I needed to get back into running but it is hard to do some 60 lbs overweight and expecting your mile time to be 7:50 again. So here we both are, trying to huff and puff our ways through a few miles but at least we are doing it!! The sulfite thing I only understand from the medication side... Can't imagine what foods you are limited to with that sensitivity. I would have had the same mindset as you as far as that goes. But you seem to have determination and by god I know you can get healthy again! Stop here and there each day and consider the food making it's way to your mouth. Will you truly
Be happy with yourself later after eating it? If not, put it down and grab some fruits or vegetables instead. Eat slowly. Your body wil tell you when stop. And welcome!! :)

noname oh I actually was hoping bonnaroo because I go every year.... My boyfriends home town is in the same county so we always end up working as beer vendors for a couple of hours a day and get in free. You would love bonnaroo if you're a festival girl! I look so forward to it every year!! So many cool and nice and interesting people to meet. And Elton John this year?!!! Are you kidding me?? It's gonna be legendary. (No need to even wait for it.... If you get the reference lol)

Hi Paige, thanks for the welcome back :) I hear you on the run times- god it is painful to be so slow! The medication side of sulfites isnt too bad for me as long as I dont end up needing emergency medicine, adrenaline and that kind of thing. It's more a problem in food because it is used as a colour and a preservative- but manufacturers only have to declare if their food contains sulfites over 10 ppm. That's roughly 10mg/kg- I can start reacting to 0.5mg of pure sulfite salt, so I'm a little bit f***ed!! I am getting better with the eating (having had to give up a lot of things) and I do feel a lot better for it (no one is prouder of my 2 week no-biscuit streak!) but I get so tired sometimes, I can go over board on even "healthy" stuff- really I should just go to bed!

Iconised Ghost - Bonnaroo is an awesome music festival in Manchester, Tennessee. I used to go every year since 2007 but I stopped going after 2011. I get free tickets from the street team each year but I decided to try something new for my vacation in 2012 (Caribbean cruise). I was going to go to Bonnaroo again last year but wasn't a big fan of the lineup - instead I went out to Colorado and saw the Avett Brothers/Old Crow Medicine Show at Red Rocks and Bob Dylan/Wilco/MMJ/Richard Thompson in Peoria, IL on the way back. I don't like this year's lineup either but only because I'm still mad at Kayne West for being late in 2008 (I'm actually more pissed that he dissed Phil Lesh) and I've already seen Elton John (free concert here last summer). I wouldn't mind seeing Jack White again but there's other places I can see him this summer. I have a choice between two free tickets to Bonnaroo or two 3-day passes to Forecastle through the street team this year. I'm thinking about going to Forecastle. I really want to see Outkast and Beck this summer. Jack White is also playing Forecastle. I'm not sure if I'll have enough money for gas and hotel (my vacation fund is still drained from my latest adventure) so it will probably be a last minute decision if I decide to go. For now, I have Saturday in the Park to look forward to at the beginning of July. It's a free one-day festival only an hour drive from here that has The Avett Brothers, Bonnie Raitt and Ziggy Marley playing. :D

To make this post relevant to weight loss - I'd like to be under 170 pounds by Forecastle which is at the end of July. My weight loss has slowed down considerably in the past two weeks so I don't know if I'll make it. I've been stuck between 190.2 and 190.8 for the past three days. I think I need to start exercising again. I've been slacking off since I got back from the Live Loud Music Festival cruise at the end of February (it was a ton of fun and some of the bands I saw on the ship are going to be at Roo this year as cafe artists - Bronze Radio Return was really good and will probably be playing Roo Thursday night).

Iconised Ghost wow, I only had ever heard of sulfites in relation to bacon. It sounds like it's in a lot more foods than that! Welcome back to 3FC. And so true about sometimes needing to go to bed instead of eating. lol I try to get in the habit of brushing my teeth when I get that late night craving, but it certainly doesn't always work!

paigeinabook if I had the money and the vacation time, I'd be all over Bonnaroo! I actually live a half hour from where they hold Firefly, one of the new big festivals, but it sounds overrun with teenagers that want nothing more than to be high on molly the entire time. Eep. The folk fest is super low key. It will probably be our last one though, since we are planning a move to Colorado next summer...I'm sure they have some good fests out there though :)

AllyG47 Free tickets?! That's amazing!!! Good luck getting back into your exercise routine. I'm sure that will help a lot, and you'll feel better even if you don't reach your goal (but I still think you can do it!).

In related news, I tried on a couple of my skirts last night because of this discussion and they look way better than last year :D I have a pic in one of them from Father's Day, I think I'll try to do a before/after of that in the same skirt soon, because man I look...big in that pic. Also, down almost a pound this week. Doing really well with exercise this week. Still feeling bloated though, wtf. Maybe that means I'll have a woosh coming.

Ally- it sounds big! You guys get so many famous people! We're getting Justin Timberlake this year. It's very expensive so most of us won't go lol. Maybe someone famous will also come next year xD I hate when weight gets stuck! A hard hit of exercise does usually get it going again though. It's our body's amazing (and somewhat irritating) ability to adapt I guess

Noname- interesting since here bacon isn't as much of a problem! It's in things like wine, balsamic vinegar and dried fruit a lot, but can be in anything as preservative numbers 220-228, colour 150b and d, or if its a small amount, it could be in anything and not declared. It's often used to stop things going brown or make them more brown too- so if you are out to eat then fries are out, lots of breads are out, salad is out because they might spray it with sulfites. You have to watch out for things that might have been bleached with sulfites too, like tea bags, flour, etc. Nightmarish

Brushing your teeth is a great idea, but i feel like then i would be brushing all freaking night some days!! Congrats on your progress though- would love to see progress pics :)

hi guys,

How are you all? It's been a long time since I join the daily chat :) I still keep everyone of 3FC in my mind though (everytime I did a bad choice I would come here just to reflect on myself - haha don't know if any of you do it too?).

I'm wondering if I can ever go back to wear size 4/6 US? I gained only about 3-4cm in bottom size and now i'm at size 8/10 >"< It's been ~10 years since i've stucked at this size. Seriously :( My DH said it's quite impossible because 12 years ago my body might not fully develop yet that's why I could squeeze myself into size 6, but hey !!!!!!!!!! I saw a lot of people in here can go lower than their teen measurements and i'm just hoping, you know.....

Annita hi! I am fairly new so I wouldn't remember you, but it's great to hear that 3FC has been helpful even when you're not posting :)

I think it's worth trying if you really want to get down to a smaller size, but it might involve a LOT of hard work at the gym! Good luck. I hope you're able to make your goal.


I've been struggling with food lately, to the point where my bf probably thinks I'm about to rip his head off. We're going away this weekend and he said that he'd like to eat better than we usually do while camping. So I plan this really nice, healthy menu, get almost everything prepped except a couple of meals, and ask his opinion on what I should get for those last couple of meals. He comes to the store with me and we end up getting stuff to make burgers (bison, at least, which is leaner but still), chips and dip, and some other crap. I was too frustrated to even say anything. I have a ton of snacks already prepped (apples w/PB, hummus w/carrots...) Then he tells me he didn't mean HEALTHY he just meant he didn't want to go COMPLETELY overboard. Whatever that means. It's gonna take a lot of willpower for me to eat appropriate portions this weekend.

Morning ladies!! I know its halfway through the month n all but I'd love to join =) I am new to 3FC but am doing well on my diet plan. The most difficult part for me was adding the exercise which for the past two weeks I have been doing great with, at 5 days a week and 45 minutes a day. I do cardio and strength training right now but once I get more comfortable with this I am excited to switch it up a bit to really get results. My food plan right now is quite broad, basically its clean eating mostly raw veggies & fruit, meat and nuts. Thinking about starting a food journal too b/c I haven't seen as much weight loss as I'd like to but am hoping that's from building muscle. I look forward to getting to know everyone here and sharing our successes and set backs!! Have a happy, healthy day all =)

I'm in a food rut. This usually happens in Spring, after a winter of eating warm, yummy stews and soups. I'm sick of soup and stew and it's too nice out for it! I need to dig into my recipes and find some nice lighter, cooler foods and grilling recipes. The problem isn't just figuring out what I want to eat...but what the bf would also eat.

Anyway, this weekend was mostly good. Over-ate and over-drank, but totally worked my butt off hiking!

Easter went good.So much food I ate what I wanted then stopped.I ended up going to UNOs late that nite as well.i got a personal on 9 grain.The gym is put for right now.all my tests came back good but my body hasn't gotten the message.

Nonameslob IHiking is great did you see any animals?i try not to worry about holidays since there only normally one or 2 days.

noname: you take your talk of spring back ;) we're getting into autumn here and I do not like it one bit! I have to have my heater on at work now, and take a shawl to keep warm! I bought new boots the other day and nearly got the slow cooker out! Arg! Is your bf a picker eater?

skittles- I hear you on the body not getting the message! I'm just getting back into running- i've got the psych down, I've got the breathing, but my legs just run out of energy. I'm like "come oooon! run!!!" and theyre like "nope, we got nothing". But that's good that the tests came back with good news :) the body will come to the party one day I'm sure!

peace- welcome! A food diary is a really good idea, lots of studies show it helps a lot :) and more knowledge means more power right?

So it IS getting cooler here and more like jeans weather- unfortunately my jeans don't fit so comfy at the moment, but I refuse to buy more- this is fueling me to get to the gym even as it gets darker...and darker...and colder... :(

Funny, today I asked what he wanted for dinner and he said, "I don't know, I'm not feeling picky today." LOL LIES! I'm sure you'll get back into your jeans comfortably soon. It is certainly motivation :D

I was hoping to go on a bike ride tonight but it looks like rain. Guess I need to drag my butt to the gym...

Ahh, and there's the rain. I can smell it and it hasn't even started yet!

don't give me that, I freaking love sweltering hot. Anything over 25 degrees is lovely for me. The more humidity the better too! The only good thing about autumn are boots and chestnuts. And they are poor compared to the heat of summer!

haha what a liar liar pants on fire- make what you want then, and he can take from it what he wants and make something else himself if he doesnt like it??

Iconised Ghost Well, then we can switch spots when summer ramps up here :D I only like the heat if I'm on the beach, and that doesn't happen often enough!

We actually ended up having chicken kabobs last night that were AWESOME. Tons and tons of veggies (mostly potatoes for him though lol). They are easy enough to customize...Made shrimp kabobs last week. I think it'll be a once a week thing for a while until he gets sick of it :P


I am feeling MUCH better about my weight today. I was getting really down about going a week without a loss, and then the 5 pound gain after my weekend away. I'm still a pound above my lowest, but with my fast tomorrow I'm on track for a loss this week. Plus the pants I'm wearing today are looser than they were last week. I knew I got upset over nothing, but sometimes it's hard to listen to logic.

noname my weight hasn't budged yet since I started working out over 2 weeks ago!! It frustrates me but I am trying so hard to use it as motivation to be better!

Also kabobs are great!! this just reminded me that it is GRILLING SEASON :cool: oh I could eat grilled chicken every night!! that is pretty exciting

I added half an avocado to my otherwise delicious lunch and it was absolutely disgusting. I hate having to "waste" calories on something I don't like. At least I know I can throw the other half out. I guess I forgot that I'm not a huge avocado fan. Sigh.

I don't have too much new to report, except that after a no-loss week I finally saw the scale go back down and I'm on track to be at Onderland by Friday's weigh-in. Strength training is going well, though this will only be week two of that - I'm looking forward to it :)

Its been a rough day at work!!!(took Monday off for a mini road trip) and so much piled up on my desk plus I am answering the phones tonight and people are kinda brutal today but that's out of my control!!! Am doing well back on track today with exercise and eating :dizzy: I am planning on not weighing myself this week although I will probably cave!! haha but I just haven't been seeing the numbers I'd like to and TOM is on the way so I feel like not weighing for a few weeks and just focusing on how I feel would be better for me right now, but we shall see...

So how is everyone else's week going??

I'm also fairly new... I was doing pretty well in the first couple weeks, but now I feel kind of stagnant, been bouncing around 181-185 for the entire week and I'm getting really, really annoyed with my a**hole scale. I need something else to focus on for awhile.

I'm also finally cleaning out my fridge tonight, which is doubly stuffed because I already keep way too much food in there and because it's in transition from pre-healthy to post-healthy. Literally every time I open the door, three things fall out. I've given away or tossed 1/3 of the contents so far, but I cannot bring myself to throw out the lava cake that has been taunting me for almost a week!

Next, the freezer, deep freezer and pantry. I'm betting my pantry will be near-empty by the time I'm done removing the junk food :/

futureformerfisher I will respond here and the new thread in case you don't see it! Scales are definitely a*holes lol, at least that's how I feel lately. Cleaning out the fridge and pantry will be worth it. Have yourself one bite of that lava cake and then throw it away, drown it with mustard, whatever you have to do to not sneak another taste :P (Okay, so, maybe I'm the only one who does weird things like that to prevent myself from eating something like that haha)

Hahaha, no way! That's a good idea; I did that once before with salt, years ago, when I was trying to cut out processed sugar and my husband brought me home a slice of my most favorite cake from my most favorite café. Except instead of throwing the cake out, I left it in the fridge (I have no idea why) and my mother-in-law came over to babysit and thought, hmm, that looks good... Whoops :)

My 6-year-old is underweight (has been his entire life, it's not life-threatening or anything) and so is on a special diet, so I do have to keep different foods around for him. But I keep telling myself "he needs those Cheetos, and those Oreos, and he definitely needs that bag of Ghiradelli chocolate squares that are most definitely mine and I forbade the guys to touch..." I may need to enlist some help, haha.
