Whether your hemisphere is moving into spring (Northern) or fall (Southern), April is a terrific month for making changes toward a healthy lifestyle. The monthly weight loss challenge is a great place to track your progress in April and, then, follow through with each monthly thread for the rest of the year.

State your goal for April and join a supportive and encouraging group to help you meet it. We will compile our goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration.

So I am really excited to write that I am going for my MAIN goal this month. :carrot:

I am 3.8 lbs away from my final goal (for now)! I've actually only been losing an average of a little over 2 lbs a month in 2014, so not sure if I'll get there, but I'm definately going to try :D

Starting weight 200.8, Goal weight 192. Just over 8lbs should be doable. More importantly I want to see a reduction in inches when I meet with my personal trainer on April 15th for measurements.

Hubby and I went shopping last night for an outfit for family pictures. We are having them taken at Disney World when we are there in May. Shopping is much more fun when there is a wider variety and smaller sizes. It's sad to remember when I was wearing size 22 pants....and happy now that they are size 12. Hard work pays off...it just takes time.

boatingmommy congrats! It is great shopping for smaller sizes and you're so right about it taking time, but the hard work pays off.

tinajayne stick with it, make sure you're getting your water in, I seemed to be hanging on to some water weight, it took about a week of making sure I was drinking enough for it to release.

Hi Everybody,

I'm a new joiner. I joined a challenge last summer, was successful, stopped and then slowly over the winter my weight has crept back up again. My ultimate goal then was to see the 130s-- never got there, but this time I am determined to make it happened. I've never seen that decade before, and this time I'm close enough that if I work hard, I know I'm within reach.

Starting Weight (4/3/14): 149.5
Goal by 4/30/14: 144 (5 lb loss)

Been away from 3fc for about a week for a variety of reasons. My in-laws were down for a week (hurray...), so I couldn't get on the computer much, and I accidentally shut my milk supply off by working out too much on too few calories, so I took a few days off to get things jumpstarted again. So after a weekend of cheesesteaks and fried green tomatoes, I got back to it and had a happy well-fed baby and a weight of 166.4lb. Eeech. But fortunately that was apparently just water weight, because it dropped off pretty fast. Drying up let me know I was pushing too hard last month, though, so I'm going to set a more moderate goal this month of 3 pounds lost. We'll see how this compromise goes.

Well, I'm finally back to my low weight (where I was five days ago) so I'm just going to pretend it's the first week again and start over for the month. Today will be a good diet day!

It actually helps to know that I have a $30 diet bet in the Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 Challenge. If I don't lose 5.6 pounds this month, I lose $30. I ran some numbers and I figured out that if I DO reach my goal, I'll be getting about $45-$50. Now THAT'S motivation! lol

Going to try my best to get a good walk or workout in tonight.

My scale is getting wonky. It gave me a nice new low, but I always weigh twice. The second time it gave me a huge jump up, so I weighed myself several times and there were some really divergent readings. Yesterday was a down day; I "feel" skinnier (know what I mean, when you can just tell you've lost?) I weighed myself on my old scale and it said 135.5. So I am going with the first reading from my regular scale. Tomorrow, I change the batteries!

I've come to the realization that I'm losing inches but not weight on this workout plan. I think the weightlifting is resulting in water retention for all of the muscle repair so I need to recalibrate my weight loss goal. I think I will lose closer to 3 pounds rather than the 8 I set out to do. It's no big deal as I'm not really focusing too much on the scale right now, I'm more focused on the pants I couldn't wear 3 months ago that were loose yesterday.

Its fairly obvious and i don't bother to mention it weekly, but I just don't have it in me to stick on plan on weekends. I'm pretty social and one dinner out or sharing some wine with friends and cooking a nice Sunday dinner always bumps me up by Monday anywhere from 2 to 5 lbs. Even if it is water weight, it still takes 2 or 3 days to get back to my Friday weight which only leaves a couple of days to make any progress before the weekend has arrived again! I've accepted this as OK, as long as I can at least be somewhat ahead each week. For the longest time i wasn't actually getting ahead each week so my weekend relaxation erased the whole week of work every week. I seem to have found a moderate path lately and am finally making headway towards the elusive 130's.

That said, the plan this weekend is to have an entirely on plan weekend. I have been and will be declining any and all social invitations and i will run and go to the gym and eat according to my weekday routine. I'm sure I'll be a little grumpy as I have absolutely conditioned myself to lighten up and enjoy weekends, but i'm excited about the possibilities it means for progress. There, now that i've said it, I am accountable for executing it!!

Woodstock I have the same weekend routine! At this point inching along is ok with me, at this stage of my weightloss, I admire your drive to stay OPI'm sure you'll see a benefit, I continue my exercise over the weekend, but ease up on the food, so as long as I'm staying fit and getting stronger I'm happy, I want to try the OP weekend, too, I'll give it my best.

Today is my weigh-in day. Though it looks like there has been a loss, to be honest, I haven't really done anything except for shedding some water weight from TOM, which I was going through at the time of my first weigh-in. For this week, though, I'm determined to get on track. I'm going to a wedding at the end of June and will be seeing a lot of people I haven't seen in a long time, so that's my motivation for now. I switched to high-protein-only (no fat or carbs) for a few days, just to change it up, and it worked! I plan to go on another fat fast and then back to JUDDD when I stall again, probably in a week or so. When I get close to goal I always have a really hard time losing the last 10-15 pounds so I expect to have to constantly change my methods to keep my metabolism guessing.

Hi Everybody,

I'm ashamed to say i've done a really bad job so far of sticking to this and taking it seriously. I had a meltdown last night when i got on the scale and realized I've gained back almost all the weight I worked SO hard to lose last summer-- one of those rock bottom moments that forces you to get serious. Starting today with renewed goals and hoping to salvage what I can of the rest of this month.

Has anyone tried Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred program? I just bought the dvd... hoping this is the beginning of a new start!

I have done the 30 day shred twice now all the way through. I use it now as a supplement to my weight lifting days (3 days of New Rules of Lifting and 2-3 days of 30 day shred). I alternate levels.

I enjoy doing it and it's always a proud moment when you are able to keep up with the advance lady :)

vdh2102: I've done 30DS a couple of times. I'm old, so I think it works best for me to do it every other day. I was thrilled the day I could do boy push-ups! I don't remember the weight loss being so dramatic but what I could do and how I felt was terrific -- and that makes it easier to stick to a food plan.

What a happy morning i had to see 139.9, my stated goal for the month on the scale. I most definitely am not "calling it" yet as, unlike last weekend, I know I will be "off plan" this Easter weekend. I will still strive for moderation and plan to exercise every day, but there are already several events planned that center either around eating or drinking. Regardless, after trying to get back in the shape i am in now for a few years, it is definitely a happy month for me.

Back up to 137.2 again today! Today is a DownDay so I am sure that number will be back down again tomorrow. JUDDD is like that.

I think I am going to have to start my weight training earlier than I had planned, since I apparently have no metabolism left from all this dieting.
It will have to be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Saturday at the gym. I am going to have to make up a lifting schedule.

Good morning (here in the midwest)...good afternoon/evening to those in far away locations!!! The scale is not cooperating with me, but I'm not going to get too upset...it will move soon, hopefully. I knew going back on the pill would cause a slight change. The weather here is looking promising for getting some walking in and I mowed the yard and did some garden maintenance yesterday after work. Feels good just to get outside.
