Congratulations to Carol (newme12) who blasted past 5 pounds to win the last challenge at over 6 pounds down!

So this is a challenge for anyone! Anyone and everyone is welcome! You do not need to follow this plan. You can start anytime! and weigh in as often or whenever you can.

This challenge is to see who can lose 5 lbs the fastest! If you do YOU WIN! (more ways than 1)

It really helps me focus on the here-and-now and makes the goal of losing a lot of weight much less overwhelming.

I've lost 5 pounds since Friday. Some probably travel bloat, some maybe from this AIP diet? I wasn't expecting the diet to yield a whoosh, so I'm pretty happy - plus excited to blast through the 190s!

Well shoot.. our weather here in Florida is Picture Postcard Beautiful! Low 80's upper 70's Shoot... well and I had salty food last night.. so NOT weighing today as I don't want a number to add to the horrid day at work. Going to be positive and weight tomorrow!

Hormones? Eating has been on plan with the new dietary changes. Carbs are up a bit because of many more veggies and some fruit - maybe those extra carbs pushed me out of ketosis? Calories have been fine hunger low, I'm doing everything well so I'm not worrying about it unless it the weight seems sticky...

Sarah...That's a very good attitude to have about the weight. I believe I remember you saying that this weight decade has given you trouble in the past so it sounds like your body tries to resist dropping lower than the 90s. I remember reading somewhere that our bodies have "set points" that are harder to work through. Just stay on plan and I'm sure it will happen for you!

Sue...where are you? We miss you. Get back in here!

Newme.. I am here! I have had my heart and soul go on vacation and I was lost, found, lost and now hopefully found again. Thank you for your shout out and Maincyn's post both helped me shake my head to get re-motivated (now for the 3rd time in 6 weeks) I thank you so much! I also see that you are doing GREAT! Hooray!

Sarah...It could be hormones.. sometimes you just never know why you retain water as it is not fat (unless you are overeating).. its a big sigh!

Me.. I am way up (ate Multigrain Scoops, Reese's eggs for meals.. NOT GOOD) so need to get thru the sugar cravings again. I know reading your accomplishments will steer me in the right direction! 236.2 this morning... Will be part of the next 5 lb challenge as right now I would have to lost 8+ lbs LOL

Sue...glad your back! Haha I wouldn't give up on this challenge. I think it took A WHILE for us to get through the last one :) You've been doing this for a long time, so of course you are going to get discouraged at times when the weight loss is slow or nonexistent. I hope that you and everyone else is still around to cheer me on when it gets slower for me cause I'm going to need a lot of motivation! (I know this because... dang it... Reece' s eggs for breakfast aounds awesome lol).

Thanks for the encouragement, Carol & Sue.

I'm carefully tracking foods and calories and macros, so I'll have data to help pinpoint things should I need to. For now I'm going to just try to stay the course with my AIP diet and see how it goes, although the urge to drop calories & veggie carbs back is very strong, I'd so love to be out of the 190s (good memory, Carol, indeed it's a setpoint for me!). This AIP diet puts a huge emphasis on nutritional density and getting plenty (lots) of vegetables into the diet. I am absolutely certain that too many veggies is not what made me fat, and in fact I do think I feel better eating this way. I'm not sure, however, if I can LOSE weight with my carbs this high, even if they are mostly from green vegetables. But I'm not in a race, and maybe it's worth riding this out for a few weeks to see how it goes before I make any decisions to cut back.

Your welcome Sarah. If the new plan makes you feel better then I think it's definitely worth it to give it a chance. I think it's good to change things up every so often so that the body doesn't "adapt" and stop losing.

I had a little up swing yest after eating a few too many peanuts lol. Gotta hide the jar! I need one of those gadgets that lets you make up your own servings and then seal it up!

Newme.. those darn peanuts are addictive. I too have those for dinner sometime and wham... on comes the water weight (I like the salted ones). Not to worry.. that water will flush away!

I am up (no reason why as I was on plan and walked and sweated)... so looking forward to a great scale reading someday... but in the meantime.. holding water again (wellllllll we did get humid and it stormed early early this morning) lol

Mara, I think we've all been there. I'm glad you're back. At the risk of repeating myself, let me tell you about the story that made me know I would finally get in control of my weight. It was about a year and a half ago that I came across the story of Maxcy Filer. I have "Maxcy 48" on my bathroom mirror and on the cover of my journal.

His is the story of persistence, of having a goal in mind, failing over and over, and of keeping steady in the pursuit - and ultimately being successful. Read more here : Maxcy Filer failed the bar exam 47 times, but he took it 48! I have "Maxcy 48" on my bathroom mirror and on my journal cover.

Sarah thank you for sharing the story! I had not seen it before, but it is very inspiring. I cannot imagine the joy of receiving that final letter, or the other emotions he must have felt in that moment. It is overwhelming to just think about. :) But I feel that is what it will be like to reach my goal. Disbelief, hope, panic, happiness, relief, appreciations, gratitude, etc. I will probably cry from all the emotions. LOL

Sue I hate when my hands and feet swell. They feel tight and it hinders by coordination and mobility/flexibility.

Well I finally saw 229.8 on the scales this morning which also means I have lost 5 lbs. I want to congratulate everyone on the lbs they have lost or positive steps they have made this challenge. I'm so thankful that each of you are here!

Mara I so glad you decided to come back. Please know that we will never judge you for a weight gain and that we understand your struggles and want to help you through them.

Sue you came back from your mental break and really turned things around. You should be really proud. That water weight will be gone very soon. No Peanuts! You are such a cheerleader and motivator. Thank you!

Sarah I really admire how you are sticking with your new plan and patiently waiting out your holding pattern! I really enjoyed the story you shared about Maxcy Filer. Ha my story would be...every year for 25 years Carol started a diet and failed. But she dieted 26 years. This will be the year I succeed and my # will be "Carol 26". So I'm going to write that on my mirror!
Could someone please start the new challenge thread, I don't know how to.
