CAn you do 26 miles on foot this month? Not in under three hours, not in a single day, but over the month. You can do it outdoors, indoors, on the track, on the treadmill, on the elliptical, what ever works for you. You can do a mile per day, or several miles at a time. You can do a double marathon over the course of the month if that's more your speed.

Here are the rules. Join in. Commit. Keep us up to date on your progress in this thread. Celebrate your success and fellow marathoners at the end.

I'll join. I want to see how many marathons I can walk :) BBL to update my daily mileage. I usually walk around 100 miles per month, but this month I will be on a vacation for 10 days and I won't get my regular exercise in on those days.

Oh yes! Love the monthly marathons. I hurt my leg last month and have to slowly get back into walking. This will help!

I'm in. I plan to sign up for a half marathon for this spring, but it is so cold here that I am having trouble getting motivated to train. This will help jump start my training and get me to the gym. What a clever idea...starts today right?

I would like to join in, but I will only count the distance jogged. So i might not get the entire marathon because i am not a runner.

2/2/14 I jogged .5 miles on and off. I will call it my interval training, lol.\
2/3/14 300 steps
2/4/14 700 steps
2/8/14 .5 miles on and off
2/10/14 .5 miles on and off

Oh so I have made 2 full miles now on 2/10/14.

2/11/14 650 steps
2/13/14 350 steps
2/14/14 160 steps
2/15/14 500 steps

2/23/14 100 step
1,920 steps

total 2 miles + 1,920 steps

LOL Sue! Last month I walked 113 miles. This month I won't get that in because of my 10 day vacation. I will be happy with two marathons for this month :)

The man on the radio just said the wind chill is 12 below (Fahrenheit). So my miles will continue to be on the treadmill at the fitness club. blaahhh !! I am getting cabin fever.

Buddha belly, can you give me some guidance on a step to miles conversion that is appropriate for you? I personally count on my right foot, so by some accountings I count two steps as one stride. For me jogging 820 strides = a mile. I have variously heard that a marathon is about 40,000 steps, and also that 10,000 steps is around 5 miles, not sure which is true. SO HOW SHOULD WE COUNT FOR YOU? LMK.

Hello June,

Based on concurrence of a treadmill with a pedometer, I count 2,000 steps as a mile. I am just updating in my original posting. I kind of don't think I will make an entire marathon but I think the running/jogging spurts might be good for me, so...

21.0 -still all treadmill. Today is Spring-like outside, but sleet and snow coming back for tomorrow. Today gives me hope that winter might actually end in a few weeks.

I have decided to work my way thru the couch to 5K progression again, and thus do more running and less walking. I am up to week 3.

Winter is baaacck! I know complaining about the weather is tiresome. But really this weather sucks. Power went out yesterday. High wind advisories all day. Today was garbage day and the neighbors trash cans are blowing around in the street. Got my treadmill run in early this A.M. Can I hibernate the rest of today?

I guess that's pretty close to 5 marathons. 131 miles would be 5.
