I am going to join this one too because these just keep me motivated I am a very competitive girl LOL. I have already lost 7 lbs in a week which water or not I am thrilled about so here is to hoping this trend sticks around and least for the next week! but either way I am in and going to work hard for these 5 lbs and the 8 more I need to lose for the v day challenge. Really unclear what's going on with my weight - eating is truly spot-on. I'm guessing monthly hormones, but I had a hysterectomy a few years ago and so really don't pay attention anymore (I kept my ovaries so still have the fluctuations). If that's the se I should see a big drop soon - and if it's not I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to stay the course through Monday.

19 days ago I reached 203.4 and since then I've been hovering, twice dipping to 201.something, but only for a brief visit, then right back up, sometimes to 204.x (like the day this challenge restarted).

I'm really frustrated and starting to lose my patience. It's also around the same weight I was before Christmas, so it feels like its been FOREVER. I'm googling all the weird tweaks low carbers try (CarbNite, potato hacks, etc) and almost talked myself into a carb binge last night. Instead, I just went to bed. But clearly I need to do something to break this plateau, just to keep myself in the right mindset long term.

On Monday, I'm going to start a fat fast. My husband will be going out of town, so it's the perfect time to do it. And having a plan will allow me to get through the next 2 days without sabotaging myself.

Sarah - Felt your pain at 203, it seemed like forever to move over but when I look at the big picture it is always a consistent 1 pound per week average. Frustrating for sure but also a time to just embrace the way of eating - the scale will move...I promise!!! Keep up the great work!!! (PS my only real fat fast last 24 hours....)

Sarah.. it will budge (that gosh darn scale) I promise... Try alittle squeezed lemon in your water.. Sometimes the citrus causes the insides to let go. (don't want to be too graphic here... but helps you go too if you have not gone for awhile) :) But I just KNOW you are going to get to 199.. just like I knew Lulu was too this summer... Just knew! :)

Sara I am really sorry about your stall are you eating any fake sugars? Some times if I stall on atkins I have to cut them out or back for a while and then I seem to start losing again. That and drink lots of water :)

Wanna great job! Hope the scale says the same thing this morning!!

As for me I am trying to keep my resolve and not weigh again until Monday but well see if I can lol. Have a great day ladies!

Thanks for the supportive comments, everyone. Yes, I know patience would eventually pay off, but I have too many thoughts of cheating right now to try to wait it out, that's why I'm going to do a fat fast.

No artificial sweeteners, I just eat everything unsweetened (including fat bombs when I make them) - I eat only whole foods, nothing pre-packaged or processed, and have for many years, whether dieting or not.

I had another friend suggest lime juice in the mornings to rev my metabolism - and I love citrus so will try this for the week too! Plus its the season for the marvelous bergamot lemons now, mmmmm

Lulu, it's reassuring to hear you say you stuck at this weight for a while too - I do feel like my body is adjusting, pants are looser etc just the number isn't moving. I see you with the slow but steady progress and the longer-term view and it really helps me see the big picture!

Day 21 of my weight plateau, and I'm into action mode. I'm doing 3 things
1) No dairy (over indulged in it this weekend because I knew I was going to give it up...
2) morning 1/2 lemon in hot water - I actually have little belief this will make a difference but it's new to me, so why not try?
3) fat fast - foods are planned out (doing it dairy free actually leaves few choices)

Sue, I'll start a thread about it - hoping to stick to it for a full 5 days, but not sure I'll make it past day 3

Well all that waiting and hoping for a big whoosh and 207 lol but h*ll a lbs a lb that puts me at 3 lbs so far. Af is finally coming to an end so maybe when she is officially gone I will get that whoosh! I just finished week 2 and starting week 3 today so I fully expect that the loss will slow.

Sarah good luck with your fat fast! I hope it kicks your body into gear and it realizes it is time to whoosh off all the water it has been holding :)

sue my body is following its pattern of lose then spike a few days just to screw with my head. My eating probably doesn't help, we eat out a couple times a week and I eat at the dining hall a 3 or 4 days a week so sodium is ALWAYS a possible culprit even though I stay OP with food choices.

Well.. I backed tracked again (Ian syndrome!) lol I think on the weekends walking helps to lower the weight and then it takes a day or too to really catch up to that weight again (Another pattern here I think)

Mara I hate salt!! Doesn't lemon water help with retaining? I know dandelion tea does but I wouldn't make my worst enemy drink that, tastes like poisonous dirt.

life has been difficult, work is horrible so I went out a got a better job, better hours and closer to the house :D I have a feeling my current job is going to crash here soon, don't like where it's headed. My wonderful new puppy has ate my second couch, half dozen shoes, multiple books, several special crochet hooks....:dizzy: my little angel has come into my life to teach me patience...right? I feel my stress level going down a bit so I can concentrate on me, I don't do a very good job managing food stress and life stress so sometimes I have to let one go for awhile....this time I didn't gain back 15 pounds though!!!

smith I am able to stay on plan, just means my daily sodium amounts are always in flux. which leads to yo-yoing water retention :(

VICTORY!!!

It's taken an extreme measure (fat fast) but I've broken through, even overshot by 1 pound, and hit several big achievements :

- lost 35 pounds to date (started in September 2013)
- entered Onederland
- entered the 190s, the weight decade where I've been able to comfortably maintain for many years (in 2003 I lost from 250 to 170 but maintained most of the years around 195 until putting on more weight since 2011). Mind you, these 190s are not my goal, but it's a relief to get back here, and I know that in 10 pounds I'll have a big wardrobe to wear again.
- ended a 21 day stall - and this is good to know because no doubt it will happen again

Smith - thank you for the kind words. - I know the 160s are waiting for me!! Good for you on taking charge and finding a new job - the only person looking out for you is You!! I'd like to offer a suggestion about the dog....have you considered crate training? It's humane and less frustrating than replacing furniture. My dogs are 10 and 4 and when we leave the house we tell them to "go home" and they go to their kennels. It is never a punishment and the door is always open to them (except when we leave the house) so the dog can always "chillax" (relax) by themselves without being bothered. We had strict rules for the kids to leave the dogs alone if they went to lie down.....
