HI ALL!!! :D

Boy, I feel like I've really abandoned the board this weekend, with going away for the day and then being gone all afternoon today, I just didn't have the time I wanted to devote to answering anyone-UNTIL NOW!!!! I can't believe I started this hours ago, and now, it's MONDAY!!!

Sharon just left to return home (this should be interesting considering she's been gone all weekend and her husband had not a clue where she was). Eli is STILL at work and one kid is in bed, Michael is still up, so I have some time to get my post done before I turn into a rotten pumpkin!

Before I go one, TODAY IS MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY! and here is my contribution:

"Invest Yourself In Excellence"

What can you do better today than you did yesterday? Whatever you focus on improving, will improve. When you focus on building something, it will increase.

What can you do, what can you learn, who can you talk to, what can you create, what problem can you solve, what new perspective can you gain today? Every moment is an opportunity to move forward.

If you are not constantly growing, you're losing ground. Momentum only has two directions -- forward or backward. Standing still is not an option. Learn, grow and create. You're getting better and better every day. Your power and effectiveness are growing as you make the commitment to use each day to the fullest.

You have the very best of everything, within yourself. Give it a chance to get out and grow. Make your light shine brightly.

Invest yourself in excellence. A life fully lived is a life full of giving, of creative effort, of making a difference.

QUILTER, I hope you got to the beach today (that was your plan, wasn't it??). Hope the weather has continued to be good for you and you are enjoying the time you have left before you return to the cold Cin City weather. Again, I thank you for taking time to come meet us-it's nice to see pictures of people on the board, but even nicer to get to meet in person!!! I hope we all have more experiences like we had this weekend among board members!!!:D

CYNSEA, glad to see you are back with us. I hope all goes well with your Dr. appt. on Tuesday-let us know the latest news!!!!

FILLISE, sounds like you had a great workout on Friday, but now are paying a small price-yep, it sounds like you over did it a bit! I wish I could motivate myself to like going to a gym, but it would be a waste of money for me to join, feel too intimidated-I envy you and the others who go!!! You had me laughing about the chocolate and the secretary, I can just imagine. My stash of SB legal chocolate is growing!!! I have some new "stuff" coming in from England this week, and hoping my parents trip to Holland on April 7th will have them bringing me home some more SB legal stash (sounds like I'm talking about drugs!). If you have access to WW pita bread, I make great mini-pizzas with it, so don't feel you can't have pizza, it may just be a little different from the norm. Though, if you like to cook (I don't), you CAN make your own pizzas!!

VIV, I hope you are over your pizza cravings now. Remember, you CAN make your own, or at least a pita pizza, which I have about every day. Thanks for posting that pizza info. When we had the pizzeria, we used to get that mag. Our pizza had SGWW flour in the dough, but it wasn't 100% WW crust. It was really great pizza. I haven't had any in over a year, can you believe that!?! I had recently heard about WHITE WW FLOUR and am now in the search for it, so thanks for reminding me about looking for it via this article. I love Survivor too, though I didn't care too much for Jeff. It's Jerri I hope they give the ax to next. Remember, it's Wed. night this week (though I don't know why they changed it).

BECCA, WELCOME TO OUR BOARD! and congrats on the pending birth. Seems quite a few gals on this board are pregnant-you all must be drinking the same water!! The advice given so far about getting the SHOPPERS GUIDE is a good one, but as far as name brand foods, we are trying to get a list together of foods to post on the board, it's taking some time, as it's a group project from everyone on the board. If you e-mail me with your e-mail address I can send you some ideas for BREAKFAST that I have that came from everyone. It's not hard to find menu ideas at all, and things don't have to get monotonous when following this WOE. As for gaining weight/not gaining weight, I would say, that would probably be depending on how much you have to lose in the first place. You can easily stay on this WOE during your pregnancy unless your Dr. says otherwise. Being that this is not a restricting diet, and no food groups are abandoned, I can't see why you can't follow this through your pregnancy and thereafter. Just find out from your doctor how many calories you should be taking in while pregnant and you can figure it out from there-would be happy to help you if you aren't sure. Don't hesitate to ask us anything, we are all more than happy to help!!!

GATOR, we had a great time, KIM and NARDA got to see the pictures I took at our meeting in February, so Kim now knows what you and Barb look like. Nope BIGO wasn't the only to buy chocolate, we ALL did! I'm actually the one who zeroed in on the bars first:s:

MELF, I too would like to know where JOY is-she MUST be lurking. I sent her an e-mail, no response yet:( Congrats on being down another pound!!!!;) I mentioned the idea to SUZANNE, lets see what she thinks about doing a 3FC's get together. Hey, if that doesn't materialize, we should try to do a SB get together!!

OVERCOME, glad you finally found the agave nectar. I pay $2.69 a bottle, so what you paid isn't unreasonable. Still waiting to hear how your cookies came out. So you bought the same brand chocolate?? What did/do you think of it??? Sounds like you had a great weekend! Glad to hear that bit of info from the FIB helped out about the Chinese noodles!!!

ANNETTE, I had the problem as well with posting info onto the board the first day it was back up, but Ashley told me a trick that helped. CTRL C for coping, and CTRL V for pasting. Give it a try and see if it works. I'm not having trouble anymore, but will remember this if I do. I didn't quite understand the question about the long thread, but I haven't had any trouble.

BEACH, boy were you missed! Glad to hear your are maintaining your weight. I hope to follow in your foot steps soon!!! Any tips you'd like to share??? I'm STILL waiting to see an updated picture-remember, you promised!!!! I did e-mail GLORY back, but haven't heard anything since. I'll try to contact her again and see what's going on. We don't have a mini board on this new format, stinks! It does take some getting use to!

IAMAP, sorry you couldn't join us, we had a great time! Definitely more fun than working, with overtime! Sorry to hear about your Mom, I hope she breaks out of the hospital ASAP. Please keep us updated.

STAR, sounds like LA families are a lot like Jewish families-everything is centered around FOOD! Every picture that's taken of me seems to be with food in front of me. Glad to hear you prevailed during this event and was able to stay OP. You SHOULD be extremely proud of yourself-I sure am!!! I know how hard it is to stay OP when foods you absolutely LOVE are around, but you do so knowing that they will be there in the future to one day enjoy them, but right now, your focus is on losing weight and feeling better-congrats again!

BIGO, THANKS AGAIN for driving down to Naples not only to meet up with KIM, but with us as well. I had a great time with you as well:) I'm so glad you had ANN along with you, she's a real dear, and I'm happy she was there to keep you company while you were on the road. I don't have cable, so you'll have to let me know how the Discovery thing on obesity was. So, when are we meeting up next???

CHERI, glad to hear you are feeling better, whatever strain of flu is going aroung this year, it sure is nasty!! That's interesting about the soy, thanks for posting that info. Will check out your chili recipe, sounds wonderful and lentils are the best for you! Please let us know how things with your daughter and the tests went, hoping that all is well and they give you good news.

Well gals, it's time for me to go to bed, wayyyyy after my bedtime. I'll check in later in the morning, after kids get off to school and when I get back from my walk.

Have a wonderful week!!!!

Good morning!!!!

Ok I guess I need to clear something up....... I am not pregnant yet, just started trying ;-) What can I say I am a planner, I know ya shouldn't be in ketosis while prego or TTC so someone suggested SUGAR BUSTERS as a good choice.

I am currently 210 and my goal is 140. It is a little depressing to realize that I have at least 1 year before I'll be able to lose much. I mean I have had 2 1/2 years and haven't done it, but at least the option was there.

BUT, I am very excited to have another, so I will deal! I wish there was a place that sold affordable plus size maternity clothes!!!!! with verticle strips not horizontal ones. What is UP with that????

anyway I still haven't started and I need to badly, so I guess I should just do it.

I am enjoying reading all of your posts and feel like I am getting to know you already!

Morning everyone,

I have definately neglected you guys this weekend but it was not intentional. I thought about each and everyone of you. I have a final tonight and mid-term tomorrow night. Besides I honestly thought that noone was posting because I didn't receive one email notification. Now that was stupid of me...hehehe

Did I have a SB legal weekend?? NOOOOOOOOOO but I am ok with that because I am right on the wagon again today. At least I didn't gain anything.

Talk to everyone soon!!

Happy Monday Morning!

I am finally ready to get going on the SB way of life, and am hoping to join all of you great ladies! I am really inspired by all of you!

When I get more time, I'll post my bio on the board, but some quick info on me: I'm a 32-year old SAHM of 2 boys, and want to lose about 35-40 pounds. I tried SB before, but gave up too quickly. I have now realized (after much trial and error) that it truly is a great way of eating, and am anxious to get started!

Debelli: Thank you so much for your response about my chili recipe. I did find some SB-legal beans (Goya pink beans w/out any sugar), so at least I have one legal recipe in my repertoire!

Viv: I checked out the website you posted for Becca...it has a lot of great information. Thank you!!

I do have the Shopper's Guide, and used it when I went to the grocery. Unfortunately we don't have many of the recommended brands, (I'm in a little podunk town in FL) but I was able to find enough foods to get me started!

Well, I'll jump off for now...my boys are getting restless! Time for b'fast -- Shredded Wheat & Bran for me!

Have a wonderful day, I look forward to keeping in touch with all of you!!

Morning All!
Well, we have some sunshine today before another blast of weather tonite. I am feeling numb! I told DH he has to shovel a path to the grill for me on the deck, I need to get something going on the grill and haven’t been able to get to it in weeks!

I need motivation from y’all. I’m doing ok OP, really, but I keep thinking the bubble will burst. I have not had this kind of diet success in years and I keep thinking, oh, I’ve lost 8, don’t have too much to go, it will stall, it will stop working, just like everything else has done in the past. How can I keep eating this way and lose? It goes against my normal, ingrained diet thinking (ie WW). How can I eat REAL salad dressing, cheese, nuts and lose? I feel like something is going to just make it stop../..it’s scary! Anyone else ever feel this way?

Speaking of the above, last nite my 10 YO DS made homemade cookies. Yes girls, he is smart, handsome AND he can cook! What a catch he will be! Anyway, I had to taste his cookies, had half of one…about two hours later I had a terrible pounding above my right eye. It hurt! Is this a sugar headache? If this is what’s gonna happen to me when I eat sugar, sheesh, it’s not worth it!

Kimmi, Big O and Deb – glad you had such fun in Naples. It must be great sharing a meal with fellow Sbers!

Kimmi – welcome back to reality tomoro! Yuck, huh? Maybe you’ll have some daffodils poking up when you get home?

Cheri – that soy info was very interesting! I don’t have a thyroid issue but it’s amazing how much there is to learn.

Melf – good luck with your daughter’s results. My dad is going for a lung biopsy soon so I know how you are feeling! I’ll be thinking of you and her!

Fillise – I know how you feel about late nights and being so tired you just want to grab something. I think pita pizzas are a great thing to have as backup – you can keep everything on hand at all times and they don’t take much time. We love the Sopranos too! DH is from Brooklyn and let me tell you, his neighborhood talk was a lot like that! I think they do a MUCH better job on the NY/NJ accent that NYPD Blue. Plus, love the music, think I’ll look around for the soundtrack.

Beach – sounds like youa re fine tuning maintenance. I can’t wait to join you. I don’t know how I am going go tkeep from cheating when I get to that point, which has been my problem in the past- ergo- YOYOING!!! Keep up the good work, I’ll need to lean on you down the road!

Deb – I briefly joined a gym last month (free trial) and I liked it….I liked the classes because they were a really intense workout with great motivation from the leader. I would DRIP!!! I did not like seeing all the skinny gym rats there, nor did I like bumping into the mommies from school there – I like my solitude when I work out. It was also a hassle for me getting the schedule to work with my schedule. If you have an opp for a free membership (like from the Entertainment book or something) – give it a try just for the change of pace. It will totally pump your metabolism! Did you get my email in response to your pictures? I cannot believe you haven’t had pizza for a year….I’m going to have to make some of the WW dough and then freeze it…..any ideas on how I can adapt to a breadmaker? You don’t like Jeff? I loved Jeff – he was just so catty! He was really amusing on the Morning Show the day after , too. The last Survivor is on Brendan’s 7th birthday, so I will have to let him stay up to watch the end!

DebStahl – welcome! You will find this program so easy and this is thre greatest board of gals. I wish you tons of success!

I know I missed some of you, but I have to get to work. Hugs to all!

Good Morning Everyone!
We have the day off from school so thought I would post.
First thing though -- I hate this board! So you may not see much of me, for sure.
Am glad that you all had such a nice time in Naples. It is always fun putting a face to a name.
The weather here is gorgeous! About 65 and is supposed to get up into the mid 80's. Love it.
Things are really starting to get quite busy around here -- but then again it always seems busy.
Oldest daughter - Lori - will be getting married April 7.
She is getting married in a garden - about a black from the ocean. Hope it does not rain.
Hello to all the newbies! And welcome back to some of you that have not been on the board lately.
I see where some of you are very faithful in putting your weight below your name. I always like to see those numbers go down -- what is going on with the rest of you?
I have an appointment this afternoon at a diferent school. It is a self contained school -- ages 3 to 22. Profoundly ******ed - physical disabilities - severe behavior disorder students (I love working with those kids - seems I have a knack of getting through to them) and there is a music therapy person there that I could help out being that my degree is in Music). I want to get out of the school that I am at right now. Do not like what is going on there. It is beyond soap opera. Try the principal have the hots for the teacher that I worked with for almost 2 years. He has separated us - I am a threat to him. Really can not go into it but it is really bad. He has told her things that I supposedly have said - all lies -- so we are not speaking. We were really good friends. But you know -- they say there is always a reason for everything. I am now working with a man who weighs over 400 pounds and is trying to lose weight. GEE - I wonder why I was put in there. So have been helping him.
I am doing fine on my WOE. Remember I combine WW and SB -- it works for me. Weight is coming off very slowly but that is alright. I have lost 13 inches.
My husband - George - said that when we get paid Thursday he is going out and buy me some pants. I had over 25 pairs of pants - Debbie can attest how many clothes I have. Well, I am now down to 5 pair and they are questionable. I certainly do not like wearing pants when the crotch is around my knees.
I go back to Mayo's on the 12th of April and am looking forward to it. I am much better and know that the doctors will see that immediately.
NOW - before the week is up I have to get my hair colored. Oh my god -- thought I would let my natural color grow out -- lord - I need a bag over my head. Coul not get in this weekend. Let me tell you -- when you have a husband with coal black hair and looks about 35 and here I come with grey - silver - doo-doo on top of my head - hello? Do not know what color I am going to go with - probably a light brown with highlights - anything. It just does not go with all my gold that I love to wear. Something scarey is going on with 2nd daughter - who is 30. She came over the other night and she had a gold purse and gold shoes on. She said - I know Mom -- I swore I would never wear gold -- did you put a spell on me or something? I love it. I guess I have been stylin for a long time -- just didnt realize it.
Well - have to go and let out my 3 dogs. Joy - Joy.
Those of you that are cheating -- might I ask WHY??????
You are only hurting yourself!!!
Yes - dear Beach -- I am still here and I am still right behind you. You are doing so wonderfully -- what an inspiration to the rest. Also - shorty (Debbie) - you are doing so great. Now Deb - it is going to be summer pretty soon so please UPDATE your wardrobe - LOL!
Thanks for the email - Narda. will be talking to you later.
Annette -- I promise we will get together and hope you are feeling so much better.
EVeryone take care. I will lurk again.

Here is my contribution to Mot. Monday:
"The only thing that separates any one of us from
excellence is fear, and the opposite of fear is faith. I
am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection.
Excellence I can reach for, perfection is God's business."
-- Michael J. Fox

It goes along with Debelli's contribution on excellence.

DebStahl--Welcome. It's nice to see another "face" from Florida.

To those of you coming down to Fla. soon for a vacation: come on down! The weather could not be better. It will get up to 80 here today with a slight breeze and low humidity (for Fla.) I just had to sit out on my patio for breakfast and listen to the sound of the waterfalls in the pond in my backyard. Deb and Big Orange, it is Sooo nice now. I wish it had been a better day when you all were here. Next week is the Winter Park Art Show, and maybe they will get some good weather.

Barbee, why do you hate this board?

I'm doing fine with my eating. Had a simple breakfast of fruit and H2O. It was very satisfying. I have been trying to stay off dairy products for a while to see if I may be allergic to them. I notice that I always had post nasal drip and would cough in the morning. I've been off dairy for a couple of weeks and have noticed a definite improvement. I regret not being able to partake of cheese, though, because I really do love it. And milk definitely goes well with cereal. Perhaps I can try rice "milk." Anyone else have dairy allergies?

Got lots of work today, so will wish y'all a good one!

It's rainy and stormy here this morning, but a bueatiful day none the less--my scale went down two pounds! :D
so here are the new stats:

300/258/150

I know it is bad to live and die by the scale, but it just brightens the day to know that your hard work is paying off!

Viv--I know what you mean about the fear that this WOE will stop working. That success will never really happen. That's the part of yourself that wants to sabatoge your success. Believe me I wrestle that b***h every day. That's why I think it is important to this of this as a way of life, not a diet. Even if I stopped loosing weight altogether--I see so many other health benefits (like the money I save not buying Pepsid AC's) that I plan to eat low sugar and whole grains for the rest of my life. You have to trust that it is healthy for you!

Debstahl--Welcome! I hope you will give this WOE of chance! Take it one day at a time--even one meal at a time if you need to! I've discovered that the women on this board are wonderful inspiration and will answer questions share tips, etc. Let us help you!

Barbee--I know what you mean about the pants. I have several pair that I can ball up a fist full of fabric in both the front and the back. While I'm loosing weight I don't want to spend too much money on clothes I won't wear, but for a few months (hopefully), but you have to wear something!

Deb--I may try to pita pizzas tonight--I have two more meetings and they seem to be quick.

Have a good Monday everyone!

Susan

Hi All!

Welcome to all the newbies!

I can't post individually (I'm far enough behind as it is) except to say DEBELLI, I see you resolved your identity crisis! I like the title!

Had a good weekend - the minor lapse with the pizza had little effect, probably because the fat & protein content were so high that it lowered the glycemic effect of the white-flour crust. (At least, that's what I'm telling myself! ;) )

Let's see...motivational Monday....

Since I typically respond with my own personal quirks and experiences, today's step-in-the-right-direction is that I'm about to have another link taken out of my watch band. It's so loose on my wrist that it slides around backwards... :D

:wave:I finally made it back on the board.

Life has been very hectic for me over the past month or so and then to add, I had the flu, bronchitis and ended with pneumonia. All the while working, luncheos with vendors and so on. Boy, have I felt any guiltier I would've died right there when we went out for lunch... or when I was sick... it was easy to say, I need to eat this kind of food. Then hubby spoiled me with chocolate... no-no-no. :nono:

Anyway, I am back. I looked through the recipe board and I'm curious if anybody has some crockpot recipes. I just bought one and I've decided to cook with it as much as I can since my problem is not wanting to stand in the kitchen when I come home from work and cook! I need something that is almost ready to eat... little effort. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Anyway... glad to be back and back on track.

:?:I am wondering what happened to the board that listed 'menus'... listing that we were supposed to contribute that show what we eat for certain meals...

and what brands to buy that are SB legal. Did this board ever happen? I'm just curious.

:spin:

Also, Debbie, how did you get those icons under your name on the left hand side?????

Hi all!

Gloomy day in Wisconsin - ice, snow and rain today and probably more snow tonight. Looking forward to our vacation to Myrtle Beach in April. Has anyone been there in the last 3 years? Just wondering if there is anything new and exciting there since our last visit. Will definitely be checking out the QVC outlet store!

Had a hard day Saturday. Went too long without eating at DS basketball tournament and then went shopping at Sam's Club. The bakery section and food aisles did me in. I didn't eat anything from there, but on Sunday I just had to have some chocolate. I had thought that I was really over the chocolate cravings, but I guess not. Tonight we are going to DS end of season pizza party. I'm pretty sure there is a salad bar there, so that will be my supper. The chocolate was such a momentary lapse, but it really messes up my head. But it's over and now onward.

Somehow I pulled a muscle really bad in my upper thigh and it really hurts to walk, so I can't do the TM for a few days. Bummed out about that, too.

Welcome Debstahl - you will find a great group of "losers" here who are very willing to be your support and your source for information.

Glad you guys had a good time in FL. Send some of that warm weather up here, OK? (Last year at this time we had 74 degrees thanks to El Nino.) Maybe we can send you some rain!

Have a great Monday everyone!

Hey Gang,

Well to day is the beginning of week 3.

I'm still on cloud 9 with my victory at the family reunion Saturday. I do believe after 3 weeks, drinking plenty of water has become a habit and is now part of my daily routine. On to the next step......

I'm on my way out the door to see if I can walk at least to the end of my block and back. Just like the little engine said...I think I can....I think I can....I'll be saying that when the paramedics pick me up off the ground!!!!!

This has been a great day for me!
I'm pumped and ready!

I'll be back....

Tried to get my post on this morning, wasn't able to do so, so here we go, finally!! I got in a nice walk-did 6.5 miles today. It's getting hot here, high of 86 today, and I was sweating up a storm!! But, I felt good out there, and that's what counts.

Heard from KIM (QUILTER) via I/M, she's headed for the beach today. She is so fair, she needs to wear a hat and a ton of sunscreen!!!

I went to Dillards with Sharon & Lauren yesterday. I NEVER go in there, and actually, the only reason I went there was to go through the store to get to the mall-what a mistake! They had sale racks all over the store with 75% off! Michael made out the best-he needed some clothes, Lauren got a few things, and then there is me, I actually bought a few things! All 75% off!!! It's an ususual feeling for me to just pick up something off the rack!! I thank my Mother for providing me a means to buy a few items. I actually bought a long skirt (black, of course)-would you believe, it's a petite small! I thank the designer for making the sizes bigger than they should be-sure made me feel good!! Trust me, I am no where near a petite small!!!

I must tell you all, I tried that sugar free bread for the first time, I think it's Natures Own:confused: Though I like the tastes of the other breads like the EZEKIEL, this one is nice and soft and was perfect for the PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY SANDWICH I MADE!!!! Oh my gosh, was it delicious! I'm not a big PB&J fan, but once in a while I like to have it, but it MUST be on very soft, fresh bread, which this was (by the way, I got it at the .99 cent store). Well, I haven't had a PB&J sandwich in well over a year-my gosh, I savored each and every bite!!!!!!!!!!

I'm up a little on the scale today, though I'm not worried. It will probably go up a bit more before going down as it's mid-cycle for me-I can tell I'm bloated and I surely am retaining water-drank 1.5 liters and only had a potty call once since then!

FYI It seems they have added MORE SMILIES Suzanne said she has a limit of 10 in a post and most likely will make it a few less to save bandwith (whatever that is!). I love this one!

BECCA, so you aren't preg?, well, at least I hope you are having fun trying~:s: I wouldn't think of it as depressing that you have to lose 70lbs and it MAY take you 1 year. You may lose faster, but whatever the time frame, as long as you are feeling good, that's the most important thing. Don't focus on the weight, just on eating healthier and feeling better. Trust me, it will be a year for me on SB on March 22nd, and time sure does fly by fast-so, whatever time frame it takes for you to lose, don't worry about it, just do it (sound like a NIKE commercial!!!).

DIDJA, I too am not getting notifications for all post, waiting for an answer from Suzanne about this. I hope you have a good week this week, just remember on what you are trying to achieve:)

DEBSTAHL, please let us know how we can help you out in any way. Please let us know when you get your BIO on the BIO BOARD. Glad to know your chili came out well, can't wait until you post it for the rest of us. Where is CRESTVIEW exactly??? Glad to have another Floridian on the board!!!!:D Do you have any HFS near you??

CHRISTIAN, glad to see you back on the board! Good to see you are holding your own on maintaining even though you have gone astray from SB guidelines. I mentioned a week or so ago that when I do hit my goal I will try to add some non-SB items back into my diet, slowly of course. What I mean by that is NOT sugary foods, or white rice, white bread, etc., but the fruits and veggies (the ones that I like, that is) that we can't have, and see how I do with them. I have no desire to return to having the "white stuff" ever again-I like the tastes of whole grains far too much. We'll be happy to support you on trying to lose another 10lbs, that is, if you promise to post a pic of yourself in your bathing suit!!!!

VIV, if we get to meet, I think I'm going to have to lay the Jewish guilt trip on you! That should keep you motivated! It must be something inbred as I know EXACTLY what you are talking about. BUT, you can see from other people's examples that you CAN eat nuts, cheese, etc and still lose. You have to not make excuses and stay on plan and that will get you to where you want to be! I use to be the one who went on a fat free diet and couldn't understand why I wasn't losing weight. People would tell me I needed to eat fats-I didn't want to believe them. Since I started SB, and with everything I read, I know that I can eat good fats and still lose weight-so you can too!! There are lots of gyms offering free weeks, and I thought about taking advantage of them-just getting me motivated to go, well, it's not coming. Maybe one day soon!!!

BARBEE, glad to see you on the board, and it does take some getting use to-have to teach the ol' dog a new trick or two I see:devil: Gave Lauren your message, boy was she hmming and hawing! She's so cute, she wanted to call you, for what, I don't know-probably to ask you to ask Justin a question via NSYNC. I told her to e-mail you:D Hope the interview you get for the other school works out well, I'll cross my fingers for you! Please let us know how it goes!!!

GATOR, thanks for those words of motivation. Glad to hear you are doing well with eating and finding that dairy may be a problem for you. Try some of the soy milks, I hear they are good, just have to find one with no sugars.

FILLISE, CONGRATS on your 2lb loss!!! WOO HOO!!! I too live by the scale. I have a program on the computer that if you don't put your weight in, it estimates it. I like what you said to VIV, and it's true, this IS a way of life, I don't look at it as a diet whatsoever! I'm 10 days shy of my 1 year SB anniversary and I see myself following along this path for the rest of my life.

MSLIZ, like your name too:) You're lucky the pizza didn't affect you, it's one of the worse things to eat when following SB. From one of the websites about the GI: Pizza keeps glucose up longer than any other food. Researchers compared a pizza meal with a control meal that included high GI foods & found the initial glucose increase was similar. But, for the pizza meal, glucose was still high even after 4-5 hours.

CATS, glad you are back with us. Sorry to hear you were ill, I was too, though not as bad as you it seems-mine hung on for 4 weeks, can't remember being that sick before! Hmm, put the hubby in the dog house for the chocolate, well, that is, unless it was SB legal chocolate, if that's the case, he can stay!!:sneaky: I saw a crockpot book at the book store just last week looked really good. I think is was called Crockpot Cookery, or something simple like that. You may want to check out Ebay as well. I have one, still in the box!! Those icons, thanks to others explaining them, are called AVATARS, you can chose random ones by going to your PROFILE and editing it, at the bottom it says AVATARS, click on that. I did mine by trial and error-have a new one I want to try to post. The lists are still being worked on with the foods, just trying to get menu ideas first, then will work on brand names. If you need to know something in particular, just ask. Sometimes hard if it isn't a national brand item.

RHROO, yep, I would think you'd learn to stay on track and not get sick, but I sure am happy you report this to the board, it at least keeps me in line! :smug: I do have the pics, but I got them on CD instead of disc and they are sooo big, taking up lots of room. I'll try to get one or two posted so you can see them.

KAREN, wish I could send you some of our gorgeous weather! Well, was the chocolate you ate at least SB legal, if so, I wouldn't worry! If it wasn't, I still wouldn't worry, if it was just the one time, it won't kill you (now, if you were telling me the same thing, I wouldn't believe you!!!). Hope that pulled muscle eases up on you soon-that must hurt!

MISSGRACE, that's a wonderful accomplishment, 20lbs since the beginning of the year!! CONGRATS!!! So tell me, what are you going to do to celebrate your birthday tomorrow?!? Have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

STAR, that's great that you are finding this WOE easy to follow and it's becoming second nature to you, it's how I feel as well. I love your sense of humor! I'm sure you did great on your walk. I remember when I first started losing weight, (the first time, years ago) I had not done exercises EVER and I couldn't even make it but a few houses down (zero lot lines almost), and each day, I'd go a little farther. I was so proud of myself when I was able to do a mile and it was in 22 minutes, then it got to 20, then 18 minutes. Well, now I can do 4.5 miles in 1 hour-just be patient and keep on pounding the pavement. Not only will it help you lose weight faster, but it really does make you feel good when you are out there!!!

Eli is off tomorrow so we are going up to Broward, or at least we are suppose to, I never know what may blow up at the last second for him. I'm hoping my Mom can p/u the kids from school, otherwise we have to be up and back from there quickly as Michael gets out of school at 2:30pm.

I'll try to check in later this evening. Please remember, TOMORROW IS TUESDAY TIPS so if you have any good tips you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Monday Evening everyone!

I did get a nice compliment from a friend at work, she said she could see a difference since I started SB. Thats what its all about, right!

Well I hope to read your posts often. I have alot going on. So I hope you all have a great week!

Hey All:)

Here is my motivational contribution for the day:

" A change in your thinking will change your situation
And that will change the way you see your world."
--- Copyright © 2001 Michael Humberstone

REMEMBER ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING. I read a bood recently that said the only way to make a significant change in your life is for it to be visible to others. (i.e. a change in eating habits, spending less money, not drinking alcohol etc.) Knowing you are actually making a change that will last, occurs when SOMEONE ELSE comments on that change. This doesn't mean weight loss but what you are doing...like excercising.

Gotta run. See ya'll later.

Hi Everyone! Boy, you have all been busy as beavers! I don't really have time to respond to everyone, but sure do think of you all often!

Barb: e-mail me your phone number again or call me 615-9440, I misplaced yours. Good luck on the job! It takes a really special person to work with those kids; I couldn't do it, but I am glad you are there for them!

Deb: Chocolate is the BEST! Don't deprive yourself as long as it is legal.

Cath: Hope you feel better soon! I had it too, it was awful! Geez, I give you a lot of credit for doing all that stuff and being that sick!

Geez: the aol idle thing is already happening, so I am going to get off before it kicks me!

I can't think of anything for Motivational Monday sooo

You Go Girls!! Tee hee! Annette

YIPPEEEE! Michael forgot to inform me his father would be picking Lauren and him up from school, so that means I don't have to rush home tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! I'm happy!!!:spinning:

Okay gals, below is a link that will take you to a picture of (from left to right) BIGO, GATORGAL, DEBELLI & BARB-it may take a tad bit to load, and I have to find a way to adjust the color (I hate this CD I got the pictures on), but at least you can have a peek at us! Just click on the link!!!

http://members.aol.com/eldemila/sb_gals.jpg

CATHY, happy to see you back on the board, I was just going to e-mail you to see why you were MIA! I hope you can easily bet back on track. Let us know if we can help in any way. Just by coming back on the board shows that you want to get back on track, so that's a good sign.

BIGO, I didn't taste an aftertaste with the bread, but then again, maybe the PB was masking it. It's the first time in a almost a year that I ate what I would consider a "funky bread", one with preservatives in it. It won't be a daily habit, that's for sure, I'm not a huge bread lover. Hope you like that SD bread, I'm sure you will. Trust me, I'm just as surprised as you about me buying something, much less me buying something in Dillards! We are going to a different one tomorrow so Eli can see if they have any work pants, and I need to do some returns on things I got for Michael. As for what I bought, well, lets just say, I hope one day to remove the tags!! Broward, lots of stuff up there, but my favorite, OLE OLE is there. They wondered what had happened to us the last time we went, it had been over a month that we hadn't gone, if you can believe that one! Oh yes, and FM will be among our stops to make once in a while when we go up there!

BEACH, that was a nice motivational thought, thanks for posting it! I guess the attitude change will be buying some new things to wear? I've had to retire a few of my blue jean shirts, they are just ridiculously big on me, and look like maternity tops now-gosh knows, I don't need anyone asking me if I'm pregnant-I got asked that enough when I was really heavy!:nono:

CAN I GET A VOTE?!? Can I hear what you all think about updating the BIO BOARD come April 1st? I'd like to have it updated and wanted to know what you all think.

I'm hoping to get in a walk tomorrow before we leave for the day, and at least a quick post-if not, you can be assured I'll catch up with you all later in the evening. I'm going to attempt to go clean up the kitchen some, it looks like a disaster hit!!!

Good lord - BOb - stroke in left yete. What the heck to I have going on? I look like I have been on an all night binge or death warmed over. Geez louise!!!!!
Annette - 763-1782. I know -- we keep talking about calling and never get around to doing it.
Really do not have much to say except it was 90 here today!!! Went from winter right into summer. this is ridiculous. I went to put on a favorite short outfit - shorts are a skort - like culottes -- well put the pants on and they fell off. I have some really awesome clothes and they can not be taken in anymore so am going to go shopping with hubby after payday. Have no idea what size I am. I do know that I can not wear any pants from Catherines --they are all to big.
Whoever suggested thrift stores -- thank you very much. There are many really really nice consignment shops. Think I will go check them out -- will fit my pocketbook just right.
Gator - I dont know why I dont like this -- I just dont.
I know -- I am weird.
Well I hear my pillow calling me.
Went for that job interview and she has to put it on the hotline tomorrow and then I call it and put my namce in for it. then she is going to call the principal and ask that I be transferred immediately. I hope to God he says I can go. The other principal is going to tell him - I want her and I need her. They will be putting me with a SED young man - severally emotionally disturbed but is not aggressive. Thats a good thing -- would hate to have to hurt him. The room I will be in has 5 SED students and they all have their own teacher assitant with them plus a teacher. The room is in the back trailor -- way in the back. So if something goes down I wil park my car close to it and run like **** - well sort of.
Have to get a hepitis shot - a precaution. Have to learn CPR. Another adventure for Barbee!
Gots to go -- everyone take care and keep working.
Didjaever -- where have you been -- I dont see your many many many posts. I know you said you had a final and another exam so hopefully you have been studying and did well.

Wellllllllll...... I was trying my best to improve my posting skills here..... ANDDDDDD, ohhh yesssssss.... stupid puter shut off on me  I had really opened up my soul and spilled all sorts of secrets!!!!! Ohhhhhh well, I guess you poor gals will never know now :s: Sooooo... in order to keep my emotions, and temper in tact, I will keep this short this time. This weekend was a bit bumpy. Heck, ALL my weekends are bumpy. What am I going to do. I think I may need a few (tender) kicks in the butt periodically from you ladies. I MUST stay motivated, which I am having a bit of a problem with right now. I guess whenever I stop to think that it has taken 2 months to lose 10 lbs..... I get discouraged. I am not good with patience at all.
Anyways, I will elaborate more with each post. I have got to get this posting board down to a science. :spin:
Hope everyone's week is starting out on a great note.... do re mi fa so la ti do

Deb - I have eaten Nature's Own a good bit. The SF is pretty good. I have been buying Pepperidge Farm lately. And a BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE for the whopping 6.5 miles!!!!!!! You will be entering marathons before long  Thx for sharing the pic too, Deb...... it's nice to place faces with posts.

Viv - the days are rapidly passing!!!! Are you packed and ready????? You will be passing over?? or through my neck of the woods on your way down. Think of me :)

A warm welcome to all the newbies on the board. I will try to acknowledge you all one on one, eventually. I am so slow on here :(

I will go for now. See you ladies tomorrow. Thanks for sharing yourselves, it helps more than any of you realize

Thought I'd get in another post before I go to bed, thought I'd be dead to the world by now,:dozey: didn't work out that way as you can see. Guess I'll wait for Eli to get home in about an hour.

ANNETTE, (and all others who need this), go to http://www.agentcy.com/ and load KEEPITUP onto your computer. This will help you stay on line. Works about 95% of the time, the other times I think are AOL problems. I've had a lot of problems with being thrown off recently, it drives me batty!

BECCA, I have ideas for menus if you e-mail me with your e-mail address, I will send them to you. Whenever you get a chance, please visit our BIO BOARD and post your bio so we can learn more about you:) Hope you get your new shoes soon, I have to start looking for another pair, mine are wearing a hole in them, not good. It's a hassel for me to get shoes, so I'm not looking forward to it.

BIGO, Kosher huh, are you joining VIV & I? I'll be looking for that SD report tomorrow!! Tell Ann I said hello.

BARB, wow, 2 times in one day, what an honor you've bestowed upon us. :smug: Good luck on getting the new position-boy, I can't imagine working with SED people, I give you a ton of credit! Keep us informed!!!

AMSER, Ann, look at my post to ANNETTE above regarding KEEPITUP, hope it helps you as well. Again, you can always do your post in your mail program like I started doing a while back. Don't get discouraged at all, 10lbs in 2 months is great, what more can you want (okay, you don't have to answer that question!). That's what I have averaged over the last year. Just think, you are losing weight and eating healthy-what could be better (okay, don't answer that question truthfully). Glad you liked the pic, will work on getting others up sometime soon.:)

AND, on that note, I will now say good-night  I'll check in with you all tomorrow!!

Morning Everyone,

BARBEE - here I am!! My ALGEBRA mid-term is tonight so that is why I have been spacing out. Cheating a bit on SB but we won't tell anyone...hehehe

DEBELLI - thanks for sharing that picture of the group with us. Looks like you guys had a nice time.

I think I lost 1 more pound. Hard to tell though. Sometimes my scale wants to start out the morning already on one pound. I tried moving it around the floor and it seemed to still have I lost another pound. Well, see again tomorrow what it says....hehehe

Hope everyone is doing well!! And I will get back to individual responses after today!!

My morning started out interesting... almost got run off the road by a mad-woman. Wonder if she had too much sugar in her cereal.

I am at work now... bored. That is the worst thing. If you are bored, you think of food. Terrible. :(

I feel better today, having eaten much less junk yesterday. Today will be an even better day because I brought lunch. I am glad this is getting better. :)

How does everyone feel about Sugar Free Instant Chocolate Pudding? I had some yesterday... unfortunately not with skim milk, but will go buy some today. I'm just curious as to what you guys think about it. :?:

Deb: I am all for updating the bio board. Are you going to start a new one? Or are we just going to edit our entries?

BOB: Your menu sounds really good. I think we should have a separate thread for that though, so we can keep looking back and even print some out... I'm just sooooo clueless!

Ok, this is my contribution for this morning. I'm glad I have you guys... you keep me going!

Morning!!! Kids are home AGAIN this was suposed to be a half day but the weather is being evil again  So i got to sleep late, but there will be no formal excersise today for me! (unless screaming at kids counts?)
For the newbies i had some tips that I do that everyone has read before sorry to bore you! One that has to do with excersise is that when i wake up in the morning i put on my excersise clothes that way i have less of an excuse for not doing them! I also have been getting some videos on E-bay. I got two tapes at the thrift the other day The Firm for 1.49 each! soooo all you cheapos keep your eyes open!
As for menus I eat alot of Egg White omlets and have started buying the frozen chopped onions and peppers sooo easy and very filling and low in calories. The George Froman grill or any name little grill is great too for those boneless chicken breast to throw into a salad. I have also been making a ww veggie soup thats real easy i have a bowl or two a day-virtually no calories! :dizzy: Fills ya up a little before the meal too!
Just remember that we are all worth the effort, time and money we put into this WOE!
Deb-glad to help with the memory-you girls looked awsome!!! are those Natural curls? It is great to see a face with a name! thanks for sharing i got to get some new pics i want to share too-for those who care! LOL

oops remembered one thing i was going to reply to!!! the Sugar Free Pudding- I have it -but it is a trigger for me. I usually make it and take it to work for my break where i can't go and eat anything else in site! I had some during the last snow storm and boy was that a mistake-so i would say to have it see if you can handle it this is just me personally. I guess i can only have some stuff in a controlled situation as i would call it! LOL :D Good luck

Hi, everyone!!

First, I wanted to thank you all for the warm welcomes and notes of encouragement!! You chicks are great!! ;)

I did pretty well on my first "official" day of SB, but as someone mentioned (or maybe from another site I read), I did seem to have a bit of sugar-withdrawal. But, I just suffered through it and today I feel GREAT!

I do have a question...is there any way to make a SB-legal pie crust? I have some great quiche recipes that would be allowable on the WOE, all except for the crust. Does anyone have a crust recipe using whole-wheat flour or anything? Just thought I'd ask...

DEBELLI: Thanks for posting all the pictures...I love seeing what everyone looks like! Unfortunately, we don't have any HFS near us...but I'm hoping to find one relatively close (maybe Pensacola, about 1 hour away). Also, I think updating the Bio Board sounds like I great idea...I just added mine earlier this AM.

BOB: Like Becca mentioned...what's up with your eye? Are you OK?? Your menu does sound good...especially the shrimp! I love seafood, and that sounds like a great way to make it!! I'm still struggling to find some condiments (like dressings, etc.) that are SB-legal. My supermarket stinks here!!

BECCA: I read your bio...sounds like you've got your hands full with your kids!! :) We seem to be in the same place as far as figuring out what all to eat -- hopefully we can learn about all of this together!!

QUILTER: I meant to ask you what part of Cincinnati you're in. I'm originally from there, and am actually coming to the area in June to visit my family before we move back overseas!!

BARBEE: Wow, you're job sounds amazing!! I'm getting a little anxious about getting back into the classroom -- it's been 4 years since I last taught! I am excited about it, too...just hoping I remember how to do everything!!

All you fellow Floridians...is anyone near St. Petersburg? We're going there on March 24th for a few days -- my husband just HAS to go see the Cleveland Indians (his home team) during Spring Training! Just wondering if anyone was in that area.

ANN: I need some kicks myself -- I haven't gotten back into working out, and really need to!! We have a treadmill and a Total Gym, plus bikes with a stroller attachment (for my 2 boys) and rollerblades. I've got all the equipment, now I just need the prompting!! I'm great at coming up with (weak) excuses -- maybe we can kick each other along!!

Does anyone have any great ideas about eating out and staying OP? My boys and I have to be out of the house tomorrow by 7AM (carpet cleaner's coming), and are going to end up having to eat b'fast and lunch on the go. Just wondering where and/or what would be OK...would appreciate any advice!!

We're having a crazy time around here -- I'm having to get my animals ready for shipping to Guam (they have to go through a quarantine), plus trying to organize our belongings to figure out what is moving with us, and what to sell at a yard sale, and trying to sell our house!!! :dizzy: I'm hoping all the stress and running around will help promote some weight-loss, too!!

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Must get back to my laundry! Will try to hop on later to see how everyone's doing!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Deb

I need a big kick in the behind. I started SB April 2000 and lost about 15 pounds in the first couple months. Then.....nothing. I got very frustrated and thought that maybe I'd let illegal stuff creep in and made a mental re-commitment. The result? I started cheating even more and have gained about 6.5 pounds. Summer is almost here and I don't want another one where I feel like a big blob in shorts.

Another motivator? I'm going to Mexico in 3 weeks. I'm just not prepared to get into a bathing suit!

The worst parts of all of this? I never felt better than when I was eating OP. When I eat "the bad stuff" it makes me gloomy and grumpy, effects my sleep, etc.

Here's where you are all really gonna let me have it...I have a nice gym in my apartment building that is open 24 hours and on the first floor of the building is a Whole Foods. How much easier could it be??? Some of you are driving long hauls to find a HFS! And yet, I keep sabotaging myself.

Let me have it....I need it!

We got daughter's test results. It showed inflamation of the cervix along with pre-cancer cells. They will follow up with paps every 3 months and also do some cryotherapy. She's on some medication for the inflammation. She's only 26, unmarried & has no children. I am happy that they have discovered this early. That can make all the difference. Thanks Deb & Viv, for asking about her. She is my baby & I really have been down about all this. Her situation is not what I would like for her. She's a good kid, but does not make wise choices for herself. Her dad died when she was 8 & she's been trying to replace him with the wrong type of guys in her life. It breaks my heart, but what can I do? Even though she is still imature for her age, I cannot keep her locked up. I have taught her right from wrong, have tried to be a Christian example for her & I don't see what else I could possible have done differently, although Lord knows I have blamed myself often enough for whatever came to mind.

Well, I guess I've gone on alot more than I had intended to , so here's a few responses to the posts I just read.

BEACH, Glad to hear that all is well with you & that you are maintaining.

debstahl, Welcome to the SB board. I see that you're not new to 3FC's board. Glad you decided to join us. SB is definitely THE way to eat.

Christian, welcome back. We sure have missed you & looking forward to seeing you back on the board! Glad to hear that you are maintaining your weight loss. Good luck losing another 10 lbs.

Viv, yes, we do worry about our family's health. Sometimes more than our own it seems. Hope you're father's lung biopsy is ok. Sounds like you are pretty close to goal. I know what you mean though about staying motivated to continue to loss. Sometimes I get so discouraged when the scale is not moving, then when it does, it's almost too good to be true. But this WOE is so wonderful cause we actually CAN eat right & enough of the right things & still loss. We just have to stay focused, even through the "down in the dump" days.

Catsrule, welcome back we've missed you. Glad to hear your health is on the mend & so are you! Will search for some crockpot receipes to post for you. I know ther's a site in my bookmarks for crockpot cooking. Will see if I can post it for you.The best one & probably the easiest is the Crockpot taco meat. You can do it with ground meat, turkey, or chicken strips. you can use that to make taco, burritoes, or use it in salad. I know you'll find that one on the receipe board.

Rhoo, yea, I think we all have some weak moments with certain foods. I did yesterday & the scale sure told on me this am, but I think I'll be Scarlet today & say "Tommorrow is another day, I just won't think about that today" We just all have to get back on that wagon, like you said.

missgrace, my goodness, you're a definite success story. 20 lbs since Jan is WONDERFUL! :smoking: Keep up the great work & come motivate us some more! We've missed you. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YA!!!

Star, you'll soon be saying I know I can, I know I can. Send those paramedics where they're needed cause you'll be great. Keep up the good work.

Debbie, I thought of you & BOB yesterday. I was at BARNES & NOBLE & stopped in at the STARBUCKS COFFEE BAR to have a cup while waiting out the rain. Then yesterday afternoon I went walk & finally made it to 2 miles in 35 min. That is a first time for me. I thought that is no where near the 4.5 miles that you do, but at least it's an improvement. Then yesterday you posted 6.5 miles!!! You go girl. I guess so you were sweating! I was sweating too & it was only in the 70's here...LOL
I had to laugh at your recount of the PB& J sandwich on that fresh bread. Bet it did taste good, huh?
Can't seem to get to that site for the pix you posted, Debbie. It keeps showing me a blank page. But the pix that you posted on the board is really nice. Love the hair. & I vote yes on the idea to update the BioBoard!!! Let's do it!

Fillise, congrads on another 2 lb loss.

BOB, an email fight with your brother? I guess those would be a little less noisey that a face to face fight, huh? Hope you'll get it straightened out. And do you think that was the cause of that pain behind your eye? The stress/tension of that fight? Chicken is my friend! I love it  and you're right, it's one of the cheapest, lowest in fat, & easiest of all the meats & so versatil too. LOL

Beach, soooooo true about the attitude thing. Thanks, I needed to hear that today.

Barbee, you're a roit with your clothes episodes! LOL But what a wonderful feeling, huh? to have your clothes just "fall" off. I can't wait till that is the case here. LOL Hope you find some clothes to fit you soon. Hope you get that new position you're applying for. Work is hard enough, but when there's a conflict with others at work, that sure does make it harder to deal with.

amseraphim, sorry you lost your post, but don't you feel better after at least putting it all down in black & white? Listen we all have periods of weakness when we want to throw in the towel, but look at it this way...you didn't put on those extra lbs overnight & they won't come off that way either! 10 lbs in 2 months is nothing to feel bad about. That is great! In Jan I was at 172 when I joined this board. I have not lost 10 lbs yet, but it's very close & I will rejoice when I do get there! It will be another accomplishment for me. So be glad that it is a 10 lb loss & NOT a gain.

Well, guess I'd better get moving...I've been sitting here too long. Got to get out of this house & get a few errands done today, cause tomorrow it's back to work for me. I also have to baby-sit this afternoon with the 16 mo old grandson. He's a load for my poor back. I'm so glad he can walk !

See ya'll later on. I love this one!

Hey Ladies,

I did it!!! I walked 1/2 mile yesterday afternoon. It took awhile but I did it. I had to shorten my stride (took baby steps) when I began experiencing some minor pain in my hips but I was able to finish and LIVE TO TELL ABOUT IT!

Hope to repeat the same today!

Thanks ladies for being here for me!

Finally! I have been without a computer for 2 weeks! Didn't realize how much I use it.

It's so good to catch up on everyone. And all the newbies!! That's great. Stick with this group of gals and you can't go wrong.

Not being able to be in touch with this board was really bad. I have had such a hard time eating what I am supposed to. Last weekend was a bust. Luckily my straying hasn't seemed to have affected my weight loss, at least not yet. I got back on track yesterday and plan on staying there.

Had a Dr. visit yesterday. Because I have been able to get some weight off, he cut one of my BP meds from 300 mg to 240 mg. This is one of my goals - to possibly get off some of the meds - am currently taking 7 different pills a day for various things.

Thanks, Deb, for all the work you put into this. You will never know how many people have been helped by this board.

Deb, I checked out the picture of us 4. Actually, you would read the pix from left to right, rather than what you said. Gals, Barbee is the blond with the gold glasses, Deb has the curly hair (y'all knew that!), I'm next to her with the orange jacket around my shoulders, and Big Orange is on the far left with the short hair. I will say that the picture is not a good one of her because it looks like it was distorted. Probably something to do with scanning it in or the camera angle. Anyway, she looks better than that, except she always does have that lovely smile.

MelG--Did you post a bio? Normally, Mel sounds like a guy, so I was just wondering. As far a cheating, you have to look at this as a way of eating or a way of living that you CHOOSE, because you want to, and because you like how it makes you feel. When we cheat it is because we are rebelling against the erroneous idea that we have some constraints on us. That we are, somehow, asserting our independence from some"diet" that is being inflicted on us. Its a way we think we are keeping control, when actually we are out of control. So if you focus on how you want to feel and look, and then tell yourself that you are free to choose actions and foods that will help you feel good, then maybe you won't want to "cheat."

Actually, this probably applies to all of us who "cheat." We are so in the habit of handling moods, problems, emotions, etc. by munching, that it is hard to do things differently. Food has been a comfort for a long time. And "cheating" does not mean that we are BAD. It simply means that we made a choice that is inconsistent with what our goal is. I still go back to the quote that someone posted many months ago:
"The chief cause of failure and unhappiness is trading what we want most for what we want in the present moment."

Star, congrats on the walk. Before you know it you'll be up to a mile.

Who was saying that their watch band got too loose. I had just the same thing happen. I had to go to an old watch to get one to fit. The battery had even run out.

Well, I know there were others I wanted to reply to, but this new program takes a while to come up on my screen everytime I go back and forth. I must need a newer faster computer. So I'll bid y'all bye for the day.

I have a bio posted. Mel is short for Melissa. Having a common last name makes it harder to come up with a user name that is not already taken.

I tried to post earlier and it didn't seem to work. So, to sum up...thanks for the inspiration and for reminding me to "keep my eyes on the goal".

GOOD EVENING:D

FIRST!!!! THERE IS NOT ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY EYE... My statement was from the way it looked in the picture that Deb posted! Thanks for all the concern, I would hope that will never happen to me, but it's nice to know everyone cares!

This business of not being able to post from work is MAKING ME MAD!!! I just don't understand why I can't do it! Suzanne says that I'm not the only one that can't do this. I can perform every other function..such as creating a new thread etc..JUST CAN'T REPLY!!!
I see so much during the day that I want to immediately jump on and comment to...BUT, I have to wait until I get home to do it....Until Suzanne figures it out.
Before the board was changed, I had no problem at all?
GO FIGURE?????

CRISTIN: WHAT A WAY TO START THE DAY!! Hope it got better for you.

DEBSTAHL: I'm in Sarasota....45 min from ST PETE. I would love to meet with you, but I'm not going to be around that day. SORRY

MelG: BEND IT ON OVER>>A SWIFT KICK IS COMING YOUR WAY! It's hard to climb back up, especially if you've hit the ground! You can do it girl...

BARB: I have to agree with DEB....TWICE IN ONE DAY?
what's come over you? Any news about the interview?

Melf: I've gone through the same thing that your daughter has to do. It's uncomfortable, but it's the best way for the results. I've got my fingers and toes crossed for her. Keep me posted.

STAR: WAY TO GO....KEEP IT UP...just a little bit further every day....

COUNTRY: good to see you back...we were wondering!

WHY, THANK YOU GATOR.... nice compliment!

Well ladies....Skeeter says it's TIME TO EAT....I'll check back later

Yesterday I walked 2miles in 35 min then today I did 2 miles in 40 min. Do you think I burned extra calories by pushing a stroller with my 30 lb. grandson who thought it was fun to bounce up & down in it while I pushed? What a work out! I REALLY broke a sweat, but we had a nice time. He's 16 months old. When we got back I rested a while on the steps cause he didn't want to go in. Then he "helped" me pull weeds out of the flowers beds.

I was able to finally see the picture that Debbie posted. :blushing: I didn't notice that I had to scroll down to get to it...red face. LOL

BOB, so nice to finally put a face to your name. And thanks for your word of encouragement about the procedure. Have you had any more problems after it was done? I  when I read why you had a pain in the eye. You're a trip. Thanks for the laughs & your words of wisdom.

Gator, nice to be able to see the picture of you too. I had it figured right cause I had seen a pic of Barbee already, so I knew which one had to be you. :) I can now picture you in that fine white silk dress with the red jacket! LOL

STAR, yes!! I knew you could! So very excited for you. That's great for the first walk.Keep it up girl!

COUNTRY, glad to hear you've solved your pc problems & are back with us. Congrads on your accomplishment of getting that B/P med reduced. Keep it up girl.

Well got to go..DH just got home. See ya'll later

Hey y'all!

My first time posting, but definitely not the first time I've visited the board. I must say you are all a bunch of truly inspiring women. I currently weigh 180, but would love to get down to 140. I lost four pounds last week, but gained them back over the weekend!!! I am about to lose my mind...losing is not easy and I am frustrated that 2 biscuits could cause such a weight swing! I am working out 4-5 hours a week and don't eat after 7pm. What else should I/could I be doing?? I suppose I am just looking for a few words of encouragement and motivation.

Good luck to you all in the battle!

Evening All!:D

Had a nice day out today, went to Ole Ole for lunch, it was delicious, as always-went to see if any of the Dillards had anything else, found a few things, though nothing exciting. Glad to come home and see so many posts on the board!!!

CATHY, thanks so much for the compliment, though I think my face looks soooo round in this picture, hmmm, maybe it IS round!

BECCA, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD:D As for your shoes, there are different ways to lace shoes up for different foot types. I've seen it printed in magazines, but here is a site that may be able to help a bit, just click on the link below:

http://walking.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.aaos.org%2Fwordh tml%2Fpat_educ%2Flacing.htm

DIDJA, hope your test went well. Hope you did lose that pound. You seem to be a lucky one, being able to cheat a little here and there and lose, and here I am sticking to this 100% and I gain!!

CATS, glad to hear you are doing better every day. I can sympathize about almost being run over. Every day that I walk I seem to dodge a car or two, people are just in such a hurry these days and pay no attention to what's going on around them:mad: I think the SF pudding has maltodextrin in it, among other things, right?? Why don't you list the ingredients on the board so we can dissect it! Thanks for your input on the BIO BOARD, I would start a new one:)

RHROO, thanks for posting your tips, they are always welcomed. Yep, those are au-natural curls on my head-to think, years ago, I straightened my hair and blow dried it straight-now, I look stupid (tried it when I went to get my hair cut last month).

DEBSTAHL, the sugar detox is normal, it will pass-just stay on track. I have to update the links for the old recipe boards, but yes, there is a SB legal crust recipe somewhere on there-try doing a search, or I will do it for you later. I make a delicious crustless quiche (ask BARB, BIGO & GATOR) that is really easy-recipe is on one of the boards as well. I'm sure one of the larger cities will have a HFS-you'll be like a kid in a candy shop!! I looked up HFS in Pensacola and there seems to be some, though I never heard of any of them, so they must be small ones. BTW, my cousin lived in Guam and actually married a girl from there, so they travel there quite often. He works in DC and one of his territories is Guam. Wish I was near St. Pete, but I'm hours away-too bad it wasn't last weekend that you were coming in!! For going out, shouldn't be that hard, why not try to eat breakfast before you leave-and for lunch, any place that has chicken, fish, etc. for lunch, just use common sense, and you'll be fine. Ummm, stress, causes weight gain for many, so try to keep yourself level headed.

MELG, can I stand in line to give it to you?? My foot may get stuck though-get back in the saddle and take advantage of everything that is accessible to you, this board, WO and the gym-think of us that would love to have things so convenient.;) All you need is the real desire to lose the weight- you can do it!!!!! You know from the past how easy it is.

MELF-I hope things go well with your daughter-like you said, you can only do so much, then you have to let go of the reins and just pray all your hard work somehow has influenced them. I too had some questionable cells and the second time I went back, all seemed to be okay. I think this is why I didn't go back when I was suppose to (it's been over 1 1/2 years), but I am going next month. Congrats on your walk-you MUST of felt elated!!!! Keep it up and you'll be doing a mile in 15 minutes soon!!! Not when pushing your Grandson though, but I'm SURE you got a few more calories burned pushing him-sounds so cute, just can picture him jumping up and down!! So, you were at Starbucks-Eli would be proud!! Yes, BIGO is a Starbucks lover, and now an Eli lover as well (he's supplying her with coffee each time we see her!!). Hmm, I don't know why you can't see that picture through the link-try again, maybe the site was down at that time.

STAR, CONGRATS ON YOUR WALK!!!!! Good for you! Don't worry, my stride is always short, my legs are short, I'm only 5' 1 1/2" tall!:smug:

COUNTRY, glad to see you back on the board, was wondering what happened to you! Glad to hear you are back on track and didn't have any weight gain while you were in hiatus. That's great about your meds, keep up the great work. Thanks for the kind words, but I couldn't do it without the combined effort of everyone on the board. Again, we are glad you are back with us - now full steam ahead!

GATOR, thanks for letting me know that I made an error with the picture, I changed it now. I liked what you said about cheating, thanks for posting that.

BIGO, I e-mailed Suzanne and asked her to let you/me know if she has any remedies for your problem of posting from work. Glad you gif worked!!!

RAPTURE, WELCOME TO THE BOARD  Please let us know if we can help you in any way. I'm sure I can speak for the entire group in saying that I'm sure you will find the wonderful friendship and support you can depend on to help you reach your goal. I wouldn't worry about the gain, it's probably hormonal, which is what I am experiencing as well, it happens, don't let it discourage you, be patient and the scale will go down-I know this first hand. As long as you are following the plan, you won't have a gain of weight from fat, it will be from that TOM, water, etc. Two biscuits won't cause you to gain fat, it may screw up your system a bit, but just get back on track and you will be fine.

Well ladies, I'm outta here for the evening. I'll check in sometime tomorrow morning. Please remember, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY and again, I wish you all luck. I'm not looking for any losses this week, more like gains, but I know it's temporary and I just need to be patient!!!

Hello all....oh I wish I had time to post to everyone. I enjoy reading your posts so much! They are so interesting!! They make me feel so good about this WOE. THank you thank you thank you.

I am having a shower this sunday for 50 ppl for a friend who's having a baby. I am stressed. Hence, not a lot of time to post. I'm going to do my best in a small amount of time!!

DEB.. the cookies were the Oatmeal Lace posted on one of the recipe boards. The batter was SOOO soupy so I added another cup of oatmeal. They were good but VERY sweet. I'm going to try one of the other cookie recipes with the agave nectar. Thanks so much for posting the pics. I love them!!

MelG...I am soooooo jealous of you!! A gym and Whole Foods!!! Lucky lucky you! Follow the Nike slogan...JUST DO IT!!

Melf...Believe me your daughter is lucky to have had her situation caught at this stage. VERY LUCKY. They are on top of things so she will be FINE. I've had cryosurgery and it is not bad. Going for a pap every three months will be a hassle but soooo worth it. It's a mother's job to worry. She is lucky to have you for support. I'll keep you and your daughter in my prayers :)

BOB...I got your eye joke right away. It made me laugh when I read all the posts with concerns about your eye.

STAR...congrats on the walking! It really starts to feel good. It will boost your self esteem too! Keep up the good work.

Everyone else...thanks again for your posts. Its great to be a part of such a wonderful group.

Just a quick question or two for all you experts out there: is all sourdough bread legal if it has 3 or less gr of sugar? What about the rye and pumpernickle and other dark four bread? I'm just :?: about it.

Thanks to whoever posted about the pizza spiking the gi levels for so long. My DS had a post-season basketball pizza party last night. It smelled WONDERFUL but I made do with the salad bar -which was pretty tasty in its own right. After reading about how the pizza stays in your system, I'm REALLY glad I didn't have any.

Don't think I'll have a loss tomorrow, but that's ok. I'm still OP, just eating a little too high calorie. Hope the one-eyed monster is kind to everyone!

Good morning everyone!

I'm down another pound. :smoking: I went for almost a month with no noticeable loss and them WHAM, a pound a week! For thise of you who are plateauing, hang in there, the scale will move if you stay OP. I am weighing at work on Tuesday mornings to post on today's. The scales are far better there than at home. The doc at work said that he calibrates them farily regularly so I trust it.

Would like to apply to all, but can't this a.m. Gotta get ready for work!

MELF - I had exactly what your daughter had at almost the same age, and so have several of my friends. I agree with BOB, it is worth the discomfort. I needed to have an additional procedure about 18 months later, and have normal Pap smears for the last 6 years. PRAY and have faith that she will heal.

Have a beautiful day.

Peace,
Frog

BECCABOOTS - The best money I have ever spent was for NIKE TUNED AIR. Now they will cost ya but I won't walk in anything else.

MELF - you can email me personally at kimcancrochet@aol.com. I just had the same results as your daughter and I am single, no children.....well talk more!!!

RAPTURE - Welcome!! A BIG lecture I have heard from everyone hear  is drink lots of WATER, WATER, WATER.

DEBELLI - Thanks for asking about the mid-term. It didn't go well. I was the only one who wanted to take it and the teacher stuck me outside in the hall. I was so prepared and just freaked out. Oh well, I find out my score friday. I did lose that one pound yesterday. I think that my ability to be able to cheat a little is definate because of the way I hate SOOOOOOO bad before. It makes me sick to just think of my daily intake now.

FROG LOVER - congrats on the pound lose...

Good morning friends!

Well, I finally lost. I lost the 2 pounds I gained last week plus .5. It is going very slow for me. I know that it is because I am only taking 1/2 my dose of Thyroid Medication though. That's the only reason I can think of.

Melf: Hang in there, Your daughter will be in my prayers.

Hope everyone has a great SB weightloss day!

What's up with the time on this board. It says that I'm posting at 2 something in the afternoon.

Thought maybe it was my computer, but mine has the correct time and date.

Welcome newbies!!!

Hello again, Losers!

I'm so swamped at work that I haven't had time to reply to everybody like I want to...such a nice group of go-getters!!! Glad most who were sick are on the mend, and my prayers to those of you who have not had good news lately.

I'm in a transition time myself...unsure exactly what's happening, other than to say I seem to be "settling into" midlife differently than I expected. Birthdays have never had an impact on me - usually I look forward to earning another year - but the upcoming Big 45 seems to be approaching like a landmark of some kind. Not a bad thing....just different....

WIW good news - down again! It was unexpected, since I've been less careful with my eating and have skipped some workouts. My body must really like what I'm doing! And people are really beginning to notice and comment...that sure feels good!!!

Happy WIW, everyBuddy! Let's go, losers!!!

Cheri--You have to go to "edit profile" to change the time zone you are in. Right now it is set for Suzanne's time, which is Greenwich Mean time in England!

BOB--I love your pictures that youa attached. Tell me, do you have to have a scanner to do that? I'm assuming that you do, except for the selection of avatars that they give you in the profile section.

I really got a lot accomplished yesterday. I'm totally ready for the meeting that I'm leading 2 weeks from this coming Saturday. Got all the letters mailed to everyone and all is nailed down. Yea me!
I now have another project that has been sitting on my desk: working up a questionaire for getting evaluations of a recent conference a group of us did. And then getting them all mailed out. And then making a ton of phone calls to line up some folks to be interviewed on videotape about how they liked the conference. (That's for advertising next year. We wanna make those who didn't attend regret that they missed it!) Anyway, I hate doing all this kind of piddling stuff. So am forcing myself to get it all done today.

For who ever was looking for a pie crust recipe--Definitely try the crustless quiche!!! It is great and I've made it many times. It is one receipe I've used most often. And it's great for getting your veggies in!

Well, gals, keep on truckin' today. I'm off to work on my questionnaire.

I have a question for anyone who has lost a considerable amount of weight. Do you also lose your bust size?? I heard of a woman who lost 200 pounds and her bust was as BIG as ever and she was totally out os proportion.

Hello Everyone!

Here are today's stats:

300/258/150

One thing I have discovered on the WOE is that weight loss seems to happen in spurts for me. I will lose steadly for a while then everything will stall for a bit. The first couple of times that scared me, but now I know that my body has to make some adjustments and If I stay OP the needle will move down again.

The board seems to have been very busy yesterday! I didn't get a chance to post, but I did check in from work for my daily inspiration. Thanks everyone.

Melf--I want to add to the folks who have been through the same health problem your daughter is experiencing. I had the same thing when I was in my early 20s. Had the treatment and have had normal paps for the last 20 years! I guess this is why they keep buggin us to have these annual checkups!

Star Chaser--I am so happy that you are finding success. Your excitement over your victories is inspiring to me!

I also enjoyed seeing the pictures. I am jealous of Deb's curls. Do you know how much I have paid to get curls like that?

Have a good Wednesday everyone--hope you are all abuch of loosers today!

 Another morning and do I feel good today!!!!

I have not stepped on the scale. I'm afraid to get a stroke if I see it. But my jeans fit nicely this morning... not that tight bad feeling I've had since slacking.

My drive into work was uneventful... can you believe it? Nobody to run me off the road... nobody causing a traffic jam. It was great! So, my day is starting out great.

The crockpot is cooking at home and I'm making Goulash. The only 'illegal' food that was called for was BBQ sauce. I used as little as possible... but I wasn't sure if I could eliminate it... or not. I'm new to crockpot cooking. But it sure is wonderful coming home to ready homecooked food! I have this pot not even a week and I already cooked 4 times in it. I just love it! :D

I also brought my lunch. Bagel Bread, Cajun Turkey Breast, some mayo (I can't do without), swiss cheese and a chocolate bar that is sweetened with Fructose from the diabetic section. I also bought sugar free cough drops! Yeah! I'm still working on this cough and it is painful. Hopefully its getting better.

I have a question about milk. :?: Why does whole milk have 10 g sugar per serving and 1% milk 12g sugar and skim milk 14g sugar???? Shouldn't it be other way around? I bought whole milk because of the sugar content... but I am curious how you guys deal with that.

Karen3000: I bought some 'Bagel' bread at Wal-mart yesterday and it has 2 g sugar per slice and it tasted very good. I think that is legal... I couldn't find anything wrong with the ingredients anyway.

Deb: I know what you mean. I've given up on walking downtown. Too many people almost run you over. Besides this town has parking issues, not to mention pedestrian issues.

My goal for this week is to get on my treadmill. I've been on it twice... it is tiring and I couldn't get far because it is strenous having to move this thing (no motor, I'm too heavy for it). The last time I made it 0.15 miles before I broke down coughing. Not a good sign... but at least a beginning.

Ok, thats all for now. Everybody have a great day.

Well ladies... I am still at 130, same from last week  Guess I will just keep plugging along. Walked on TM this morning - 2 miles in 45 minutes :dizzy: So far this week, I have walked 6.5 miles. I sure hope my heart is getting healthier since the scale is taking its sweet time bugding :(

Ok, ok....I know I keep whining about losing my posts...BUT  I typed a nice long post and lots of responses back to the recent posts, and, - UGHHHHHHH.

Deb - I did figure out that I did not actually download Keeping It Up last night, so that's probably the reason. I finally played around with the program this morning - AND - I think I have it installed now.. crossing fingers.

Well, I am going with my DH this weekend to the drag races. I am trying to plan on how to eat OP. We may need to bring a grill. We will be travelling in a 4dr p/up and pulling a trailor. Sorta makes it difficult for meal planning. We usually can borrow FIL's motorhome, but he has it while he is in FL for other dragraces. Geeesh, these guys and their hobbies :?:

I just don't have the patience to go back and forth through the posts, so please forgive me.

Star - I did want to give you a BIG PAT ON THE BACK for your walk yesterday. Don't you feel proud of yourself??
And like you said.... baby steps. You gotta start somewhere. :D

I also want to thank those of you that had words of encouragement for me about the ruts I tend to get into with this WOE from time to time. I hope I can continue to get those pep talks :^:

Viv - I was glad to see your brief post. I have missed chatting with you. Are you packed??????

Well, I will stop for now. I don't want to press my luck with getting the BOOT. I hope everyone will have GREAT results with "that" steel monster :s: Have a great day all..........

Hey Gals,

I'm about to go weigh myself. I haven't weighed since I started SB on March 1. I know I need to probably weigh once a week but I hate the scales! When you start out at 325 lbs, it's overwhelming and losing a mere pound a week seems useless.

I did walk Tuesday, another 1/2 mile. YES!!!!! Hopefully walking will soon be a routine as is drinking water has become!

I have found this board to be saving grace to me!
Fillise, Melf, Debelli, BOB, Overcome, GatorGal and all others who have responded to me and encouraged me..THANK YOU!!! You are all angels!

AMSERAPHIN: Thanks for the "pat on the back"
Next I may need a "kick in the backside"

To Melf: Your daughter is on my prayer list. Keep us posted!

Hi, all!!

I have had a pretty crazy day!! Had to drop my kitten off at the vet by 7:30AM to be spayed/declawed, then take the pooch to the groomer for a bath and shave, then had to entertain the kids while staying away from the house because the carpets were being cleaned!! I know it probably doesn't sound like much to you, but just the car ride with 2 animals and my 2 kids was enough to make me nuts!! :dizzy:

My weigh-in went well today...I'm actually down 3.5 pounds for the week, and it's even TOM!! I know it can come off fast in the beginning, so I'm not going to expect this, but it was a nice little boost to keep me motivated!!

MELF: I'll add in my 2 cents with everyone else...I went throught exactly what your daughter is facing about 5 years ago. I actually had 3 different colposcopies and such, but everything turned out fine, and I have had my 2 kids since! My thoughts are with you both... I had to  reading your tale of walking with your grandson...I'm sure it was quite a workout!!

ASHLEY: Those cookies you made sound great! I really have to find a HFS near me so I can get some legal ingredients to broaden my horizons with this WOE! That's fantastic about your cholesterol counts...way to go!!

STAR: Great going on your walking...I really need to get myself back into a workout routine!!

BOB: Too bad you won't be around the weekend of March 24th...my husband's going to 2 games, now, so I'll be hanging out at the hotel pool  with my younger son.

DEBELLI: I have made one crustless quiche -- actually got the recipe from an Atkins-based website. Would love to get your recipe! I'll keep poking around for an SB-legal crust. Thanks for your help! We're actually headed BACK to Guam for a second tour there -- we were stationed there from '94 through '97. We loved it, and have actually been anxious to get back overseas again!! It's a beautiful island -- come visit sometime!!

Well, my boys are napping, so I think I'm going to sneak off for a little "mommy-time"!!

Have a fantastic day!!

Thanks to all of you for the encouraging & comforting words about what my daughter is going through right now. ALL OF YOU have made me feel like you are really caring friends. I can't begin to tell you how that has made me feel today. I DO apreciate it. Your stories of what you each have gone through has given me hope that this can be resolved. Even though I am a nurse, I don't deal with this type of problem very often & those of you who are mothers know that it is different when it comes to our kids.

Frog, thanks for sharing that info with me. It sure does give me hope. Normal Paps for 6 years? Oh, that's wonderful news. Yes, I do pray for her cause that & supporting her are about the only things that I can do for her. Thanks! Hey, we're still even with our weight! I was down another lb today too! This is so weird because I was on a plateu for about a month too. Feels good to be able to see some results again.

Karen, congrads on passing up that pizza. You made the right decision to stick with the salad.

BOB, love the images that you posted, especially the dog. When my daughter was younger my mother had a Basset Hound that looked just like that one. His name was Bully. I remember finding Jodi lying in the grass one day embracing Bully & crying her heart out because she was lonesome for her dad. Funny how certain things bring memories back like that.

Didja, thanks for the offer to talk more. Ever since I saw your email I have wondered, do you crochet? I can too, but don't seem to find the time these days. But I always found that it is relaxing & it helps me take my mind off of other things. How about you?

Cheri, Thanks for the prayers. I noticed the time difference when the board switched over, but if you go to your profile & edit options, you can set the time right for your time zone.

Fillise, Gee, I am feeling better & better about all this with daughter Jodi. Had no idea so many have had problems like this. It sure is encouraging to me that this too such pass.

It's raining here in SW LA, so no walking today. Sounds like the scales were good to most of you. Be in touch later. Thanks again everybody.

Hey Everyone :)

Sounds like everyone is doing great. What pretty pictures ya'll have been attaching. I've done pretty well maintaining. Today I am up but that is par for the course if you know what I mean.

Maintaining is a different WOE. You eat the same stuff but have to get use to eating more. You also just don't have the same motivation and enthusiasm of losing. I catch myself wanting to lose more weight but that is not the way to go. Excercise still feels good. And now that the weather is getting nice, I am back to walking alot.

Everyone remember these tips:

Eat enough...too few calories and you will not lose.
Drink plenty of water...
Eat enough protein
EXCERCISE

See ya'll later.

Hi everyone..
Not much to say today. Just wanted to check in. Actually I should let you all know I have met my goal! 115 lbs. I did a double take when I got on the scale. My weight has been fluctuating from 115 to 116 for the past week. I am just going to keep eating the same way. I think I'll try some new things once I lose a couple more pounds, so I have a buffer zone. I'm making Ricotta cheese cookies for the baby shower this weekend and I have already decided I am going to have one when I make them. One is not going to kill me. I just hope one doesn't lead to two!!! I'm trying to mentally prepare myself.

I signed up for aerobics after school. Only once a week but it will be good for me to do a different exercise. Of course I'm still sticking with the treadmill and yoga. I have lots of books to read so that will be the BIGGEST motivator to get me on the treadmill so I can read and walk at the same time. I love it.

It will be interesting to see how my Spring clothes fit. I hope I can start wearing them soon. Right now its still turtlenecks and sweaters!!!

Off to put away laundry. I am determined to get all this stuff put away TONIGHT!!

BBL to read new posts :)

Hi SB Buddies!

Well I'm with you BOB, I wanted Jeri to be voted off too. I was sure that she would be. Oh, well. We'll see what happens next week. I also watched 48 hours. It was a real eye opener. I'm sticking to eating healthy and exercise!

CatsRule: It sounds like you're doing pretty well with the crock pot. I have one too but haven't used it too much. It is nice to have dinner ready when you come in the door though.

Amseraphim: Don't worry about being the same as last week. You're still OP and getting your exercise. I'm losing really slow. Only 13.5 pounds since November. (I started counting calories, then Atkins now SB) Everyone here is so helpful and motivating.

Star Chaser: Keep up the good work and don't think about the long haul. Only small goals. That's what I have to do or I get depressed. You'll get there!

Debstahl: You mentioned Guam. Are you a military family? My ex-husband was Career Air Force. I followed him around the whole 20 years. I really like the way of life.

Melf: I'm glad that you're feeling better about your daughter. Just keep the faith and we'll be here to help you when you need it. Our prayers are with you and yours.

BeachFan: Thanks for the tips. I really have a hard time reminding myself to drink the water. I am going to have to get better though. It makes all the difference.

Overcome: Congratulations on meeting your goal. I will be so glad when I can say that. It will be a long time, but I'll get there.

Congratulations to everyone on your losses this week. To those who stayed the same or gained. Just hang in there. You'll make it.

I can't believe I haven't been able to get on the board all day-what withdrawls!!

Last night I got a call from friends who are in town from the UK who wanted to come spend the day today:eek: My house was/is an absolute wreck and I figured I had time to clean before they came on Sunday, when they were suppose to come-it threw me for a look that they wanted to come today as well, so...we started cleaning a bit last night and did some major stuff this morning. I didn't even get to go out for lunch with Eli and his daughter so I could stay home and continue to clean. They left at 10pm and I am just majorley POOPED! Serves me right for just not keeping the house clean (I can just imagine what Sharon must be saying as she reads this board!!!).

Anyhow, I will be on in the morning to respond to EVERYONE after I go walk. My morning is FREE and I am going to devote my time to the board and getting in my responses. BTW, is anyone else having trouble with getting on AOL lately, I'm had to try a half-dozen times tonight!

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB legal recipes you'd like to share, please try to post them tomorrow.

Sorry I was AWOL today-it wasn't intentional!!!! Congrats to all the losers this week, I gained, AGAIN!!!

Hi! My name is Chris and I used to post regularly in the Overeaters Anonymous forum almost a year ago. I've been moderating my own small forum, Weight Workshop (http://www.atforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=58). Last night I was checking out the online weight management community (what's out there in general) and found that 3 Fat Chicks is still BY FAR the best support community on the web! I posted a link in our forum and decided to come visit again.

Last year this time I weighed 194 pounds and although I lead an active life, I was lonely, unhappy and in complete denial about my weight (I still wore a size 14 although my pants were so tight I could barely breathe!). I finally forced myself to go to Overeaters Anonymous and now lead a meeting, serve on the Intergroup board and manage the newsletter. I went to the gym for hours, but didn't give up many of my favorite food, and quickly lost almost 40 pounds but still dreaded the day when I would backslide. And I did, but more gradually than I imagined. By Christmas I was not only grazing on office snacks but sneaking bags of food into my room....I finally hit bottom when I sneaked 3 boxes of chocolates in 3 days. I had gained 15 pounds in a very short time period.

That was when I took drastic measures and decided to abstain from all refined sugar, including (for the most part) fruit juice. It has been over two months now and I am finally losing weight again, and I feel better than ever in my life. Refined sugar is truly a drug if your body chemistry is "set up" to respond to it, as mine is. I am currently 164 pounds and feel confident that I will reach my goal of 130 at a steady pace.

I don't know the rest of you yet, but I remember you, Debbie, from long ago. I noticed you because we started off at exactly the same weight, had the same goal and I believe were at the same weight at the time. Also you have tremendous energy and determination! I think it is wonderful how you have been so motivational in this forum.

Aloha to all and looking forward to getting to know you!

Hi Gang!

OVERCOME - Yippeee on meeting goal!!!! WOW!!!

CHRIS - welcome! You'll truly love it here. And congrats on your successes so far, especially being a group leader. That's an awesome achievement!

DIDJA - that's the first place I lose from, and it's not like I can afford the loss! Oh, well...boobs are definitely over-rated anyway!

AMSER - hang in! It'll come! My weight loss stalled, then began dropping off in sheets! I'm totally convinced that the WW structure has made the difference. Not only does it help me keep track of everything I eat (or DRINK), it reminds me of the relative value - or lack thereof - of junky stuff when I'm tempted!

STAR - don't worry about the weighing thing. Do it when and if you're ready. The scales are the least accurate measure of change!

BOB - Where DO you find those nifty graphics. And "avatar" sounds like some kind of medieval weapon...guess I need to update my vocabulary! ;)

RHROO - take care of yourself, sweetie! Stress can do awful things to your bod.

DEBELLI - glad you checked in! Us mother hens were worried!

I'm doing fabulous!! I feel better than I have in years. Big secret out of the closet - I haven't consumed alcohol in over a month. BIG BIG accomplishment, and most likely the REAL reason for the sudden weight loss. I'm convinced it's poison to my body (in addition to being nothing but sugar). :)

I cannot believe it's Thursday already! I'm new to your board and am enjoying reading all of your posts. There just doesn't seem like enough time to read it all. In due time.

My Thursday recipe is a snack for every once in awhile.

Grilled Cheese - a healthier way.

1 slice of Ezekial bread toasted
1 slice of american cheese
1 slice of tomato

After toasting the bread, put in microwave for short zap until cheese melts and whala Grilled Cheese! It sure hit the spot the 1st time my husband made it for me, I felt like I was cheating, but I really wasn't.

I must get the family ready for school and me for work! Hope to get to know you better ...

Gee, did we ever have a storm come through here last night! My house shook, the wind blew some tin off the shed & we we without electricity for about 3 hours. Needless to say I didn't see 48 hours ! LOL Well, I'm off today, so I need to get busy with a few things DH asked me to do for him. Will check in later. This was me this am....:)

Good morning everyone!

I can't belive it's Thursday already. I am posting a recipe on the Recipe Board. It's "Baked Rice with Cheese and Green Chilies"

It seems to be SB legal.

Have a great day!

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!

Again, sorry for being MIA yesterday, just couldn't be helped. But, back on the board today, have nothing to do at all (okay, that's a lie, but nothing as important as getting onto the board!!).

Had a wonderful walk this morning, got my 4.5 miles in in 1hr 1 1/4 minutes-getting hot out there and I come back stinking like a rotten something! You won't want to get within 2 miles from me as the weather gets hotter!

Our friends from the UK brought me 2 kinds of 70% high cocoa chocolate-one is a brand called THORNTONS and the other one is ST. MICHAEL. I have quite a collection of these bars now!:sneaky: My parents are going to Holland next month and hopefully into Belgium, so I'll have my Mom on a chocolate mission!

My weight is still up from my lowest, I'm at 137 today. The scale IS inching back down and I'm really not worried at all since I know that I am not eating anything off plan, and exercising almost daily (have already put in 19 miles since Monday). I am really hopping to get back down to my lowest of 134 by next WIW or at least next week (Thurs). This is will be my 1 year SB ANNIVERSARY on March 22nd and I'd just love to be down again. For those of you who are newer to the plan, you can't believe just how fast time flys!! It's been such a fast year, and so easy to follow this WOE!

IT SEEMS THE CHAT ROOM IS BACK UP AND RUNNING!!!! I'd like to have our scheduled chat tonight at 9:30PM EST if you can make it, I'll be there with bells on (if not, you can be rest assured my butt is asleep on the couch!). If you can, just post if you are able to join in this evening. To get into the chat room, just click on the link that says Visit the 3FC Sugar Busters chat above, at the beginning of this post and it will take you right there!

QUILTER, are you still recouperating from your vacation?? Where are you girl??? Went to show my pics to our UK friends and I see these pictures in my stack, I look at them and say "where did these come from", "who are these people", and "geez, they really look familiar", lastly, I said "these are KIM'S PICTURES!!!!" LOL!! Your 3 pics got into my pics, I guess during dinner. Anyhow, just e-mail your address to me and I'll pop them into the mail ASAP.

BARBEE & ANNETTE-I heard there was some wild weather up your way-and neither of you have posted recently:(, so I am hoping you both are okay-please do a quick check-in on the board, or e-mail to let us/me know!!!!

OVERCOME, CONGRATULATIONS FOR HITTING GOAL!!!!! I'm doing a HAPPY DANCE for you!!! That's wonderful!!! I'll have to check the recipe boards, I just can't remember that cookie recipe. I think the batter should be runny, if I'm not mistaken, aren't lace cookies suppose to be really thin?? At least they turned out okay-try using less sweetner next time. If you like a biscotti type of cookie, try the mandelbrot recipe, it's wonderful! I hope you have a wonderful time at the baby shower!!! Don't stress about it, just have a great time.

BIGO, thanks for worrying about me!! CONGRATS on another loss! Geez, here I was so good on the trip and I gain, and you were ummmm, and you lose!! See, like I was talking about at dinner, maybe being too good can be a hinderance!!! Really, that's great you lost! Umm, by the way, the Voyager called, they want their mini crocks back! LOL! Is that actually Skeeter, or a look-alike?? I love the avatars and gifs you've been posting-esp. that Starbucks mug!!! I too wanted Jerri off the island, she was sooo close to going too-she know knows how people feel about her. Pray she doesn't win the immunity challenge next week.

KAREN, in regards to the sourdough bread, under SB guidelines, you can have a food that contains 3 grams of sugar or less per serving, so if it falls under that, then I guess you can, BUT, there are breads out there, like RUDI'S that are quite healthy and delicious and don't have perservatives or sugars in them. SB does say you can have dark pump. bread, but after I found out pump bread has 1,2 or all 3 things like coffe, chocolate and/or molasses, I would tend to stay away from it, but that is just my personal opinion. Rye, I'll have to find out about that, not quite sure. Glad my pizza post helped deter you from partaking in any the other night!!!

VR, glad to see your quick post on the board-hope things do settle down for you soon at work.

FROG, CONGRATS, another pound is wonderful! Thanks for posting about breaking your plateau, it's always helpful for others to see they are not the only one "stuck up" or at a stand still (like me).

DIDJA, glad to hear that found pound is gone again:) I have lost a lot of weight in the past, and yes, you do lose the boobs. Better to lose while you are young my dear, otherwise you'll end up with ones that look like utters, like mine!!!

CHERI, CONGRATS on losing those 2 found pounds and a half of another. Don't worry about how long it takes to lose it, as long as you are feeling good and eating well, the weight loss is an added bonus. I think someone else posted info on how to change your time zones, let me know if you need any additional help. Recipe you posted sounds yummy, will go check it out!

MSLIZ, CONGRATS to you too! Another pound-you must be elated:spinning: I remember when you were a bit skeptical about this WOE, guess that has changed dramatically, huh?? Keep up the great work! And, don't worry about hitting 45, you don't look it at all!!!! I'm sure you don't feel like it either! Hey, congrats on no alcohol, another big accomplishment!

GATOR, you sound sooo busy!! Good luck with your next big project.

FILLISE, without looking back on last weeks board, just wanted to know what you lost this week. I know you posted your stats, but you didn't say what your loss was. Yuo DEFINITELY have the right attitude and frame of mind to be successful with this WOE. You are so right to realize that your body will go up and down, or not lose at all, but if you are patient, you WILL lose-I've learned this this past year. PATIENCE is one of the keys to being successful on this WOE.

CATSRULE, isn't it nice to wake up in the AM and say you feel good!!! Glad to hear the crockpot is working out well for you, almost makes me want to dig mine out, nahhhhhh!!! Hmmm, I really don't know how to answer that milk question, but maybe the sugars are lower in the whole due to the higher fat content-not positive, just an idea. Personally, I use calcium enriched FF milk. I'd hold off on the treadmill until your cough goes away, get better first, and if you want to walk (weather permitting), try going outside to get some fresh air, which should make you feel better as well.

AMSER, sounds like you are doing well on the treadmill! Keep up the great work. Let me know if the KEEPITUP seems to make a difference for you. Good luck with your eating this weekend, with planning, you can stay totally on plan!!!

STAR, sooo, what's the word on the scale?? Glad to see you are getting your walking in, a half mile is great!!! Keep up the great work! Don't worry about weighing in daily, many do and many don't-there are no rules on that one-whatever is easiest for you to do, that's what you do!!!

DEBSTAHL, CONGRATS on a great loss! 3.5lbs, WOO HOO!! Just having my two kids in the car is enough, forget the animals on top of that-so I can sympathize with the nuts business!! Hmmm, wonder if you ever heard of my cousin since you were in Guam before. He use to be on the news I think, Keith Parsky. Then he worked for the guy from Guam (do they call them senators???) His kids are so cute, being they look part Asian they have a very exotic look about them. That surely is a big move!!!! I don't envy you on having to do that-again!

MELF, it's always good to know others are in the same boat, or have been in the same boat, and made their way back to shore:) I LOVED your image you posted for friends-that is so cute! BUT, I REALLY LOVED the Tweety one, my daughter loves Tweety and it reminds me of her. Sorry to hear about the bad weather there, hope you don't get any more.

BEACH, glad to see you posting, we really miss seeing you on the board like the "old days". It makes me feel really good to see you continuing to maintain your weight, it makes me have high hopes for my future.

SPARKLE, WELCOME TO OUR BOARD glad you came in. I too have to agree with you, this site is by far the best, not to mention, it has the best members!!! Seems like you are doing well with your WOE, and that incorporating some SB rules into your daily routine has helped. Let us know if you have any questions at all, we'd be happy to help you out! Thanks for your kind words, they are truly appreciated.

RHROO, would love too see that pizza recipe, sounds interesting. Good luck whenever you weigh in!!

LDBLOND, WELCOME TO THE BOARD glad you decided to join us. Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD as well, nice to learn more about you. Please let us know if we can help you out in any way, we are more than happy to help!!!

Well gals, it's taken me well over an hour to finish this post-serves me right for being away from the board! A reminder, it's RECIPE DAY so if you'd like to share any SB legal recipes, please, try to post them today. I will try to get some on later.

Going to hit the showers now-will check in later. Just a note, going to try and work on an interesting FRIDAY FACT for tomorrow.

DON'T FORGET TONIGHTS CHAT!!!!

Thanks for the welcome, peeps! I find it very inspirational that there are people here who are so close to acheiving their goals or who have done so already. There are a few old timers in my OA group who have done so but the majority are still struggling at the same or greater weight than when they started. Reading your posts gives me hope! Take care everyone.

OVERCOME, great job on reaching goal. Hope you stay with us. Good luck with the Baby Shower. Sounds like you have quiet a task on your hands.

Rhoo, Zucchini as a pizza crust? I sure want to check out the recipes as soon as you get it posted! Hope you have a better, STRESS-Free day today!

Liz, great on your accomplishment. No alcohol in over a month! Great. I remember your concern about that when you first started Sb board. You are very close to goal too, huh?

ldblond, welcome! Your Ezekiel/Grilled Cheese idea sounds great. Think I will try it tomorrow am before work!

Well, my Crockpot is my savior! In food related things anyway... I could not believe how good it was. And ready to go. That was the best!

Today is another slow day at work and that gets to me. makes me want to snack to pass the time. Nothing like old habits :)

Trying to keep up the water. Not easy. I want to drink a soda... but I can't stand the diet taste. On any of them, even the Diet Rite one. Yuck.

So, I'll stick with water.

Did not work out, decided to let the cough calm down. Cancelled my dentist appt too, wasn't too thrilled about it anyway, much less when your throat is irriated.

About Survivor. I didn't see that about Alicia coming. I wish too that they would've voted Jerri off. Can't stand that grin. She is annoying!

I stepped on my scale this morning and I weigh more than when I initially started. Not a good feeling. But I'm working on it.

Have a good day everyone.

Hi, y'all. Ho hum, another day in paradise.

Big Orange--liked the Vols GIF, but I'd have to say that I noticed that it was orange and BLUE! Guess that is to honor the winner of the last UT-UF football game. hehehe :)

Thanks for the info about looking for GIF on a search engine. I would never have thought of that. I don't speak the computer lingo yet, so was "out to lunch" on that. It makes perfect sense. We've all enjoyed BOB's pix.

I've never watched Survivor. I do know that there is a show and that it has gotten people hooked. But just never have the time. Actually, the only TV I watch is some sports (guess which team?) and, if I can, Matlock at noon, if I am eating lunch at home. I like the old reruns. Gosh, I sound like a dinosaur. When our kids were small, we got rid of the one eyed monster for 10 years. My son was 6 yrs. old and we bought a big TV when he turned 16. Weird, huh! It truly was a great time and we did wonderful things together as a family.

Gotta go. just wanted to check in. Doing OK on the food. Eating lots of fruit and veggies. Had some pasta yesterday with stir fried veggies. Yum. Lost a pound this week.

Hey Everyone!

Just waiting for Eli to come home, going to have him make hit delicious chicken for dinner, hope he doesn't mind since being up since 4am, BUT, if I cook it, more than likely, it won't be edible!

SPARKLE, you know ANYTHING is possible if you want it bad enough. I want this weight loss more than anything! I know one of the keys to my success has been being involved on this board. The group is wonderful and I couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of woman to be among. I've been so blessed to be able to meet some of the women on the board and that just makes things that much more enjoyable. I truly believe the more you put into something, the more you gain from it.:)

MELF, just go to the top of this page, you'll see the link to the chat room right there, right below the yellow header line. Hope we all can get on and have a real nice chat tonight. :)

RHROO, will definitely check out the recipe board when I'm done. I'm with you girl, I HATE to cook! Kids hate it too. To get an AVATAR in the corner, go to profile, then edit, at the bottom, you'll see AVATAR, click on that-that's the best I can tell you, I just learned on my own.

CATS, you're really making me think about pulling that crockpot out of storage!! Glad it's working so well for you. I haven't had soda, or the Crystal Light that I used to take gallons of since June. I drink only water, lemonade or tea. Starbucks carries a delicious new orange tea-it's the first time in my life I want to drink tea without any sweetener, it's delicious!! Don't worry about staying the same this week, it could be for many reasons. As long as you know you are on plan, you need not worry, you will be rewarded, just be patient.

GATORGAL, congrats on that 1 pound loss-how many does that make for you now??

That's it for now, will be back on for the chat at 9:30pm!!

Toodles!

CONGRATS TO OVERCOME - all the hard work has paid off. Just make sure you stick with us on the board offering tips and encouragement to those of us still on the journey!

Welcome Chris and IDBlond - you will find lots of help and support here.

Deb - thanks for the info on the bread. Guess I'll just stick with the SGWW. Seems funny to me that sourdough could be legal since it's made with white flour. I don't crave bread so it's not much of a temptation. Doughnuts on the other hand . . .

I'll try and check in on the chat later.

Have a great evening everyone!

Well, that first day back to work can be a real killer. But mine went pretty well. My little darlins were just that. Couldn’t have been any more perfect. And the second day went just as smoothly. Sorry I didn’t get on as promised last night, but that stupid Survivor show just wore me out!!!! I was in a snit after that and just went straight to bed.

DEB---Thanks for the email today. I needed to hear from you. You are so good to hold me in accountability. Thanks. As of this moment I am officially OFF VACATION. So I am back on plan. Today has been legal. Did a decent breakfast and lunch and then even went out to eat tonight at P.F. Changs. Anybody heard of it??? Wonderful. Had the scallops and peapods that came with a fancy pants name. And the best thing was . . . THEY SERVE BROWN RICE!!!!! That was too cool. So I feel pretty good about today’s efforts. I guess that’s what’s best to do . . . take one day at a time and hope for the best.

I have to admit that I didn’t do too well on vacation. I was afraid to weigh in Wednesday, so will put that off for a week. I feel like I’ve slidden right off that wagon again. Man, it’s slippery up there! Now that we’re back home and I can have more control over my eating, it will be easier. I just have to stop “giving in” to things that I shouldn’t have. I’ve been giving myself extra slack and I just can’t do it. This same thing happened when I was on Weight Watchers . . . got off track and couldn’t re-commit to it ever again. Yes, I’m flawed. What to do? What to do?

I’m posting this now and will go back and read all the posts. I feel so out of it. But wanted to say special hellos to the newbies. Hi to FILLISE, BECCA BOOTS, DEBSTAHL. I hope you all like it here. I know you’ll get a ton of support.

Sorry this has so much "I" speak in it. Feeling a bit self-involved after re-reading it. Oh well, I know you all still love me anyway, right?????

Gotta go read your posts. Take care everyone. And have a wonderful Fitness Friday tomorrow.

Hello Everybody! I did SB last year about this time and lost about 8 lbs. and froze there and I couldn't loose anymore so I quit. I've gained back about 3 of those. I started back this week and would love some ideas for meals; breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks.

I need your ideas and thoughts. I'm doing well, feeling great, but I'm starting to get hungry. It could be because I'm out of one of my normal staples, but I'm not sure. Please take a look and see if you can find the gaps. I really feel that I have eaten poorly this week in the mornings and my lunches are messed up as I am taking them 3 hours later than normal that might be causing the hunger.

This morning:

Breakfast: scrambled eggs in WW pita pocket, spinach and 1 slice swiss cheese.

Snack: 1 apple about 2 hours after I ate, then an hour later almonds 1/4 cup, then at noon a Wasa Fiber Rye Cracker w/ about 1 tbsp. sf/ls peanut butter. Then a girlfriend brought me a left over sandwich, threw away bread at green leaf lettuce, tomato slice, maybe 1/2 oz turkey and a slice of bacon, tiny piece of avacado.

Finally I got to have lunch at 2pm - 2 eggs, some roast, and cheese in WW pita pocket. Cup of raw brocolli

Dinner: Roast, small green salad, and green beans.

I'm hungry right now, but fighting the urge to go eat more.

This is bad for me! I usually can stick to it and never be hungry. Tomorrow the weird shifts are over and I can resume my normal schedule next week, but if anyone has ideas on making changes in my breakfast and morning snacks so I won't be hungry....

Thanks!

I love the way you gals respond to everyone individually and I hope to get to doing that when I get to know you better.

Idblond, are you drinking enough water? Sounds like a rather light but healthful day. Also, I eat carrots (raw) as a snack when I can't stand it anymore. I know they have a certain amount of carbs but they are certainly better than potato chips! Once recently, I had carb cravings so bad that I just couldn't stand it. I thought I would die. I ate a couple biscuits with cream cheese as additional snacks, which was quite a few extra calories, but it kept me from going over the edge and I felt much better. I'm hungry ALL the time the week before my period, no matter how much I eat, so I just try to ride it out.

Debbie, responding to your comment about really wanting to reach your goal, I was reading in this very inspirational book, Women Who Love Too Much (more) (http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37919), about recovery being the TOP priority in our lives. That really struck me. I thought about all the things going on in my life, and realized strongly that my recovery (from compulsive eating AND unhealthy relationships) comes before anything else. I lost sight of that during the holidays because I got caught up in my disease. But now, I'm feeling so much more rational.

Starting to actually enjoy going to the gym again...I did a killer 40 minute cardio workout today. Just gotta quit smoking (cough cough).

Hugs,

Chris

Hi Gals!

Well, the munchkin and i are doing great. I have been terrified to wi since my birthday in Feb, just knowing I had gained about 8-10 lbs. In reality, it was only 1 lb.!! The ob said she saw no reason that I couldn't stay on SB while preg, as long as the baby is growing. Actually, she said she would like to see me loose a few lbs during the preg, but not alot. I just need to make sure I get everything in everyday that I need. (fruit, veggie, protien, and carb) I laughed at her and told her, that wasn't any problem.

We did notice that my bp has started to go back up ( it was 128/90) 2 weeks before I went in, it was 125/80. I have started new bp meds, and I pray that it doesn't go up to much, or I can kiss working thru this preg goodbye. I am to go in every 2 weeks for bp check(yuck)

Ok, gotta get started at work. Check in with ya'll later this weekend! Have a great SB Day!!

Good Friday Morning All!

Already got my 4. 5 miles in this morning, so far this week 23.5 miles, not too bad!

Thanks to all of you who came out for the chat last night, even though it was only announced in the morning, it was a great turnout. Sorry I wasn't able to stay on through the entire thing, my "manicurist" was impatiently waiting at the kitchen table to do my nails so she could drive home. I'm hoping to have a great turn out like that for next week.

Today is FRIDAY FACTS, and I got some info in the mail from some herbal company and I thought it was interesting enough to post a bit of this information that I found in the mailing that I also found on the web. You know, when we go up on the scale, I usually say it's from HORMONES during that TOM, or water weight. Well, it seems one thing I don't usually mention is we could be full of IT! Seriously! Who's the one who coined it "dookie?" It says " The average American stores from 6 to 10 pounds of fecal waste in their colon; which is not healthy. If you find yourself constipated, this could be a definite cause of weight gain. I imagined I must of eaten about 2-3 pounds of food yesterday, yet I haven't made a potty visit, and I can feel like I'm backed up a bit-so maybe this is one of the causes of my being up?!?:?: Definitely we all need to have more fiber, and this is one of the reasons we need to make sure we get enough in our WOE. What do you all think about this "theory?"

BIGO, my smilies button is disabled, wonder if it's another bug. Whenever I see my posts, I see all my smilies-wonder if it's on your end?? The chicken was delicious last night. When you come to Miami for a visit, Eli will cook (food) for you!!

KAREN, if you go to the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD, there is an article posted on WHY sourdough is considered legal. I too was skeptical about it since it has white flour, but if you are into bread making, you can learn to make it with SGWW flour. I just tried it for the first time about 2 weeks ago and I don't eat it much, but it's really delicious and I figured that it wouldn't kill me to try it. I can always remove it from my menu.

QUILTER, welcome back to the board. Glad to hear you are back on track. PF Changs are down here as well, but I have never been. I'm not crazy about Asian food, but I'm sure one day I'll get to try it. I'm surprised they serve brown rice, that's unusual, and great to hear.

HOPE, if you e-mail me with your e-mail address I can send you some menu ideas for snacks and breakfast-lunch and dinner are easier and we haven't worked on ideas for that yet.

AMSER, thanks for poping onto the board to say hi-hope you have a great time this weekend. Loved the dog on the treadmill!!!

LDBLOND, if you can keep track of your quantities, it will be very easy to find a problem if there is one with your food intake. With only 15 pounds for you to lose, as you get closer to goal, it does get harder to lose like you did at the beginning, I can say that from experience. You may not have a problem with your food, and it could be hormonal, water weight, or as mentioned above, just that you are full of IT! Without knowing quantities, but looking at your posted menu, you may be eating too much fat. 30% or less of your calories should come from fat. At your present weight, to MAINTAIN that weight, you should consume 65 grams of fat or less, BUT in order to lose about a pound a week, you should consume about 1500 calories and about 50 grams or less of fat (again, these numbers also depend on how active you are with exercise and daily things you do each day). Also, you may be taking in too many carbs. It's just hard to determine without having amounts to work with. The 1/4 cup of almonds has 20 grams of fat, just to give you an idea. You have pb in there as well, that's about 9-10 grams of fat there as well. You also have cheeses, the eggs (each egg has about 4 grams of fat, I think), can you see where I'm going with this?? I'll be happy to help you out if you can provide me with measures, though it won't be exact. Look at FITDAY.COM, you can log in your foods there, and many people find it very helpful on keeping track. Again, it may not be the food, could be that TOM - for me, I need to eat more carbs, nothing seems to satisfy me during that time.

SPARKLE, like I mentioned to LDBLOND, I get like that with the carbs as well during peak TOM, and just over induldge in legal carbs during that day-the next day or so, I'm back to normal. I use to worry about everyone else, what they thought about me, my weight, etc. I use to eat over any little thing, definitely an emotional eater. When I started SB and started feeling better about being able to stay on this WOE and feeling like I was eating healthy and getting exercise, I stopped caring about those others, and boy, what a difference! I am focusing on ME!! Maybe it sounds selfish, but okay, then I'm being selfish! Also, I haven't eaten out of emotions since I've been on SB!!!

CYN, glad to hear all is going well with you and the baby. Glad to hear the gain was no where as bad as you thought, and to hear the Dr. thinks staying on SB is good-that's wonderful! I do hope your BP stays down though-keep my fingers crossed.

Well ladies, I MUST get into the shower, I'm starting to ferment.

Have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend. I'll check in later-Eli works late, kids are with their Dad, I'll be free!!!!!!!!! Anyone care to chat later this evening?? I'll try to come on around 9:30, let me know!!

The good news is that I'm down another 1/2 lb! That makes 21/2 lbs this week. That's good.

The bad news is that I went to the doctor yesterday for a problem I'm having with my knees. He put me on an anti-inflamatory drug and told me to stay off the treadmill for a couple of weeks. He did say that I might be able to get on the LifeCycle in a few days if the knee starts to feel better. That's not the worst. I looked up the drug on the internet this morning--one of the side effects may be rapid weight gain. AAARRRGGGHHH! :(

I'm on Relafen (nambutone) does anyone have any experience with it? I'm gonna be so PO'd if I start gaining weight--do you know what I mean? Of course you do--that's why I'm telling you! So keep your fingers crossed that I don't experience that particular side effect.

Deb--I know what you mean by being full of IT! I find the thing that helps me in that department more than anything is drinking my water. If I don't drink enough water--that's the first place I start to see the effects.

Quilter--Glad you are home safely. The vacation sounded wonderful--Our spring break begins a week from today--I can't wait! I'm going to visit family in NC, but the computer comes with me, so I will stay in touch.

Anna--I'd love to get together when you come to Auburn! It will be nice to meet a fellow traveler and another Auburn fan! War Eagle--for all those UT and UF folks!

Sparklescamp--Welcome! I used to attend OA meetings. When I first read the SB book, I thought, "this is a lot like the gray sheet from OA." Not that I ever followed the gray sheet when I attended meetings. I thought it sounded nutty then. Go figure. My favorite legal carb booster is triscuits. I couldn't do this WOE without triscuits. I don't eat a lot of them, but a keep a box on my desk at work for just such emergencies--3-4 really seems to do the trick.

I hope everyone has a good day! I'll try to check in to see if anyone is chatting tonight since this is also my night to chat with my nieces on ICQ.

FILLISE - Hang in there!!! I know that not getting on the treadmill and the rapid weight gain of the medication may deture you but you CANNOT mess around with your knees. Try your best to stick with SB and you probably won't have any problems.....congrats on the weight lose!!

Hi everyone -

For the new members and those of us who haven't thought of this before, I just wanted to mention that if you have a local food co-op store, it may have lots of SB legal foods that you can't find anywhere else. Madison tries to be very PC and has had two food co-ops for a long time. One is fairly close to home so I went there today and saw lots of goodies. They had lots of SGWW breads and pitas, Ezekial breads, Lindt and Chocolov chocolate bars, agave nectar, oat bran crackers which I think would make a wonderful pie crust for a SF pudding pie, WW pastas, SF dressings, etc. If you live in or near a university town, check and see if there are any co-ops and you might hit gold!

To change the subject, do any of you have stomach problems when eating SF foods where the sugar has been replaced with sorbitol, manitol, etc? I just got some of the new Healthy Choice SF ice cream. I love their regular brand (especially the cappucino choc chunk) and thought the new SF would be perfect. Well, let me tell you, I felt like I had a thunderstorm in my stomach - nasty!! I'm going to throw the rest out:cry: I don't have this trouble with Blue Bunny or Edy's. Sometimes some of the ice cream bars will bother me, but this was ridiculous. Just thought I would mention it in case you have the same problem as I do. Deb, speak of being full of IT, this ice cream is the cure!!!

Happy Friday!!!

This is from the Real Age web site:

If the promise of strong bones hasn't inspired you to get your daily dose of calcium, perhaps the prospect of slim hips will.

A recent study suggests that getting an adequate supply of calcium in your diet may contribute to weight loss efforts. Over a 2-year period, study participants who consumed the most calcium from dairy products were best able to lose extra weight or keep from gaining weight.

RealAge Benefit: Getting 1,000 to 1,200 milligrams of calcium per day can make your RealAge as much as 1.1 years younger.

Hey Gang,

I've been absent a couple days. I've had a miserable head cold and have been down for the count.

I didn't do the weigh in on Wednesday. Don't know exactly why, just am fearful of scales. I haven't been on the scales since I started this WOE on March 1. But I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon and they insist on weighing you so I guess I'll find out.

About 10 years ago I had my thyroid removed (I had a full blown case of Graves Disease ) and I take the medication Synthroid. At that time the doctor told me that I would have a lifelong struggle with my weight if I wasn't careful. It also effects mood swings, and my sense of concentration so I have to stay closely monitored.

Good news is my boss has informed that he has noticed a change in my attitude. He notices an excitement in my attitude about Sugar Busters! He thinks this may be the answer for me. He's a great guy!

I'm learning so much from this board and appreciate all who contribute to it. Hopefully someday I too will have something to contribute.

AMSER: The dog on the treadmill kills me!!!!!

Good morning everyone! I’m super hungry this morning. Can’t understand why. Went to Wild Oats yesterday and bought unsweetened carob chips and some puffed Kashi. I ate that this morning with my yogurt. Quite yummy. Looked at the Rudy’s breads but found no sourdough. But their stock was low, so everybody must know how wonderful it is. Did get a loaf of the Ezekiel sesame. Always a good choice. And can you believe this??? I actually FORGOT to buy another Chocolove bar. Wow!!! I think that may just be a good sign that it wasn’t the first thing to be thrown in my basket.

Also bought this neat little book about buying in bulk. There are some very interesting little tidbits about some of the foods we eat on SB. Here's one: Japanese Proverb--"Eating grains without their skins causes people to become poor in body and spirit and to have not clothes (protection against coldness and disease)" Also said that brown rice is far more nutritious than white rice. Because it retains its oil-rich germ and bran, it is packed with vitamins E, B, and minerals, as well as fiber and protein. White rice is mainly starch. Also recommended Roasted Rice: For a nutty flavor, brown rice in a dry skillet over high heat, shaking constantly until kernels are brown. Then follow cooking instructions, shortening the cooking time by 10 minutes. And one last tidbit: Soaking whole rice 8 hours or overnight increases its digestiblity and enhances flavor by initiating the germination process. Cook rice in soaking water.

DEB---Thanks for the coffee. It’s wonderful. I took it to work to share with the girls and they all went crazy for it. That was so sweet of you to bring me some. Be sure and let Eli know that Ethipian whatchmacallit is very much enjoyed in Cinti. Also, I’ve really enjoyed looking through the info you gave me. Love the walking tips and the catalog. I could drop some big time cash there. I thought their prices on shoes wasn’t bad. I paid a lot more for mine at a nearby running/walking store.

Hey gals! I just saw the neatest thing on Martha Stewart this morning. She was making spinach pasta (but using all-purpose flour, poor deprived woman!) and she had a pasta roller attachment for her kitchenaid mixer. It was the coolest thing. I’ve been wanting to buy just the hand crank kind not knowing I could get one for my kitchenaid stand mixer. Does anybody have one already? If so, how does it work? I went to their website but couldn’t get that page to come in. Ugh. So I’m not sure if my particular machine can use one. Anyways, I’ve been thinking about trying the ww pasta recipe from SB for Life, but need a roller. Just can’t get into the rolling pin idea.

OVERCOME---Again . . . congrats on hitting your goal. That is so great. Please promise to stick with us and help the rest of us who need to follow in your footsteps. If I was a stamper, I’d stamp a big “way to go” sign for you.

SPARKLECAMP---Welcome to the board. Hope you plan to stay around for a while. We love getting to know new people. Your image under your name is just precious. I’m sure that’s someone very near to your heart. How fun!

MELF---I appreciate those links for crockpot cooking that you sent to CATSRULE. I have a crockpot and love not having to cook after work.

CATS---I’m with you about Jerri’s smile. It’s pure evil. I would hate being around somebody so negative. Can’t belive her own team hasn’t turned on her yet. Her day will come. As far as I’m concerned Colby, Tina and Keith are all fools for not getting rid of her when they had the chance. Don’t worry about the scale. It’s a fickle thing. When the number is up, think about your clothes and whether they feel any looser. Did you take your measurements when you started? That’s also a good think to focus on because those inches can start adding up even when the scale is being stupid.

KAREN---I envy you not craving bread. It is truly my weakness. I could eat two slices of bread at each meal and be quite happy. Of course, my waistline wouldn’t get any looser. And here’s the really weird thing, donuts don’t turn me on in the least. I could pass them up easily. The night we met DEB and ORANGE, we went to this fabulous restaurant and with the dinner rolls they also brought out these luscious cinnamon roll/sticky bunn looking thing. DH had at least one and I did take a bite of his. But that was it. Felt a mini-victory on that one. But on the other hand had two glasses of wine. I dodge one good bullet and snag myself with a couple of others. Ha!

HOPE---Hi and welcome. You’ll get lots of menu tips. We LOVE talking about food. For breakfast I usually have a yogurt and some ezekiel toast with a bit of butter. Sometimes I’ll scramble an egg with peppers or whatever is in the fridge. Lunch is fairly simple for me. I’ve been making this super tuna salad. I think it’s in my SB cookbook. Just your basic: tuna, hard-boiled egg, some dill pickles, celery, lemon juice and mayo. I love it!!! I eat it on Triscuits or these great SGWW crackers I found at Wild Oats. The triscuits have the partially hydrogenated oil that is not good for us, but the WO crackers don’t. Sometimes I just take a sandwich with lunchmeat and make sure it’s on LEGAL bread. Really not much different from past WOE, just being pickier about what is in stuff. For dinner, we make a lot of brown rice, do chicken in the skillet or summer sausages and stuff like that with cooked veggies. I love to steam spinach. Hope these are some ideas of food that you will like. Hard to recommend when I don’t know what you like. Good luck. You were wise to get back on before gaining any more.

LDBLOND---Sorry to hear that you are hungry. I have days like that and I think a lot of it has to do with the time of the month. Around mid month, I could eat anything that’s not nailed down. And it’s really hard to ignore that craving. I also find that if I do eat something illegal or TOO MUCH of an illegal item I pay for it with cravings for the next few days. I looked at your day’s eating and I thought it looked good. But wait for DEB’S response. She’s the expert and can really give you a good idea about what you’re eating. SPARKLE is right. Take a good look at your water intake. That could be the problem.

CYNSEA---Glad to hear you are doing well. How great that your dr is supporting you on SB. That’s awesome. Glad to know that “little cynsea” is also doing well. Have you told her about all her wonderful SB aunties??? Maybe I’m mistaken, but I don’t look at 128/90 as being a high blood pressure. What is normal? Mine is always low so I’ve never had to learn about HBP. Keep up the good mommy work!!!

DEB again---Two things: I think 23.5 miles is great for a week’s worth of exercise. Girl, you make me want to get moving. What do you think would be a good first week goal for mileage. I’m going to start out today on the TM because it’s raining outside and I’m a wimp and also so sweet I’ll melt. HA! Second thing: When you get your manicure that late in the evening, don’t you get bed marks all over them? I can’t even think about painting my nails past 8 p.m. or they have 250 thread count all over them in the morning. Also, loved the pep talk on fiber. Those are some interesting facts you gave us. When I was on WW I would frequently get there and take care of some business before stepping on the scale. It usually meant a BIG loss. Honestly though, the thought of carrying around all that “excess dookie” makes me want to go eat some fiber right now.

Well friends! It’s time to go hit that laundry with a vengence. Think I’ll hit the TM while I’m down there. Might as well get moving. Have a great day. I have tutor training tomorrow. So probably will be out most of the day tomorrow. Will try to check in later today. I always make it an early night before a full day of teaching tomorrow. Thanks for all the support. I love reading what everybody is thinking about.

Take care,
Kim

Fillise--I've taken Relafen before. Actually, it is like strong aspirin. So I can't think why I would impede weight loss. It is called an N-SAID (pronounced enn-sed) and it stands for Non steroidal anti inflammitory drug.

Debbie, I never have trouble seeing your smilies. They always seem to come across.

Big Orange, I found lots of gifs, but I want to put a custom one under my name and 70 X 70 pixels is too small for the ones I picked out. That's pretty small.

I'll try something else.

Deb, I've lost 10 pounds.

Hey! Just saw a few more posts that came up while I was posting mine. Of course, I have to respond.

FILLISE---So sorry to hear about your health problems. I sure do hope that the side effects steer clear from you. Hang in there, gal. Sounds like the knee=no treadmill is just a temporary setback. You’ll be back in the swing before you know it. Glad to hear you have vacation coming up. It’s always a good vitamin for me. And good that you are taking the pooter with you. Don’t leave us for a whole week. I know nothing about the medicines you talked about. So I can’t be of any help in that area. Sorry.

KAREN---I had a similar thunderstorm problem with all the SnackWell products. Got really excited when I was doing ww that I could actually eat a fudge covered cookie. Ugh. The pain wasn’t worth it. I don’t go anywhere near that kind of stuff anymore. Too many weird chemicals in it for me. You were smart to pitch the evil stuff. Why keep it around??? Right? Also, I loved your tip so much I just went and took a 500 mg of calcium. Hmmm, I think I already feel thinner. Ha! Sounds like a good thing to me. I try to take calcium everyday, but haven’t been very religious about it. The thought of a smaller butt being an EXTRA benefit may get me back on schedule. Thanks so much for sharing.

STARCHASER---I love the picture under your name. Is that your dog? What a cutie. You’ve inspired me to put my Maddie girl there. Now I just have to find a digital file of her and then figure out how to get it in there. Also, congrats on the compliment from your boss. Awesome!!! That must have made you feel great!!! Tell him that you get so much support from the board and maybe he’ll pay for your internet access. Wouldn’t that be GREAT???!!!!!

Talk to you later.

Quilter - I just got a KitchenAid mixer for Christmas and I love it. I baked up a storm for the holidays. Well, since I started this WOE, it has done nothing but gather dust. However, I found the agave nectar today, so I'm planning on making some cookies! I did a lot of comparison shopping for the mixer before I bought it. I don't have any experience with the pasta maker attachment, but some of the best prices on accessories that I saw were at the Kitchen Collection store at the outlet mall. They also have a website at www.kitcol.com. Another place to look would be eBay. By now my friend, who also bought a mixer at Christmas, may have added the pasta maker to her collection. I will try to remember to ask her tomorrow when I see her.

That tip about the calcium--I noticed they said getting it from dairy sources. I'm not sure if they are saying that the supplements would not have that benefit. I think I posted somewhere else about calcium and magnesium together helping with bloating, etc., at TOM. Anyway, it can't hurt!

I hate it when they bring out those cinnamon rolls with dinner. As if I don't get enough calories eating out, they tempt me with those. Yum!!! I looked again on the Healthy Choice ice cream container and in the ingredient list they mark certain ones and tell you that they may have a laxative effect. Well, there are at least four ingredients marked! No wonder!

Cynsea, congrats on the new little one! You'll do fine!

Debbie, I'm way impressed over your 23.5 miles this week! Keep it up and you'll end up in California! ;) Do you run, and if so, how fast? Indoors or outdoors? I have been going to the gym at least 4 days a week lately, doing 20 to 40 minutes of moderate/intense cardio...I used to be a complete gym freak and it's been hard to get back to what I used to do.

I think being selfish is one of the most important parts of recovery for compulsive overeaters. Because we are always saying "yes" to everybody else and "no" to ourselves, and drowing out our resentment with food. It's hard to change the patterns of a lifetime and I'm so glad that your inward success shows on the outside! (I've seen your pics and you look AWESOME.)

Fillise, I don't know what a grey sheet is but I guess it has something to do with the low-carb diet OA used to recommend. OA is pretty relaxed and "anything goes" these days. I believe in the 12-step programs and think the acceptance that is offered there is extremely valuable. But sometimes I get frustrated because there is so much acceptance. Know what I mean? Sometimes people need to get out of their comfort zones. One of my big plans is to start my own weight loss support organization one day.

I don't know what "legal" carbs are although I can pretty much figure it out. The whole idea of "illegal" and "legal" makes me slightly nervous but I know it's just new jargon. As I mentioned, I have been abstaining from all refined sugar. This has been very difficult because I don't like to think of anything as "off limits." But it has been the best thing that I have EVER done. I didn't realize until I went "cold turkey" how much of my time was consumed by obsessing over sugar...where to get it, actually eating it (sometimes in secret, which took a LOT of energy) and then feeling guilty about it. It was an endless cycle. Suddenly my mind was free and clear and I didn't even have to make a choice.

So I may expand my abstinence into other foods, like white bread, in the future. Now I allow myself all non-sweet carbs but limit their quantities.

Karen3000, I have had many problems with artificial sweetners in the past. Once I *cough* accidently ate a whole box (6) of sugar free chocolate covered ice cream bars and was violently ill. Then there was the time we were moving house and I accidentally ate a whole box of chocolate Velamints, which was very inconvenient since I had to move heavy furniture for the rest of the day while my tummy periodically exploded.

But in NORMAL quantities I can handle stuff like Diet Coke. I have recently discovered a marvelous miracle called Splenda (http://www.splenda.com/), which is available at Wal*Mart, Safeway, and FREE at 7-11. Splenda is made from a form of sugar that is supposedly indigestable, with added carb substances for filler. It does have calories (less than 4 per packet or about 70 for a cup of the baking variety, compared to 700+ calories a cup for sugar) but has been proven over long studies to not affect your insulin levels. I have tried it straight and it tastes JUST like sugar, and although I haven't eaten it in large quantities, I haven't had any stomach upset problems. It works best in cold dishes but supposedly you can bake with it, I haven't tried that yet.

Starchaser, I had my entire thyroid removed less than two years ago for thyroid cancer. I take the generic version of Synthroid (Levethroid) and have not had problems with it. The worst thing about the whole experience was the radioiodine therapy, where I had to deprive my body of thyroid hormone for a month at a time (twice), and it really affected my emotions and even my mental acuty. It was a truly frightening experience. I have to go through it at least one more time and I honestly don't know if I have the strength in the next few months.

Quilter, thanks, I got the image off the web but I think it is perfect for me! My first avatar was a picture of my head on this naked angel body with the butt showing. I liked the angel part but the idea of having my own face in an avatar seemed TOO obnoxious. ;)

GatorGal, congrats on releasing 10 pounds, WOW!

Went to the gym again this morning....I really like working out in the mornings, it makes the whole day go much better! I fit into a blouse that I couldn't wear a few weeks ago. It's sort of a dark plum satin with sheer chiffon sleeves. Nobody else seems to like it but I do and that's what counts!

Much aloha to all,

Chris

Just checking in to say Hi to everyone. Haven't posted all week. Have been working more and am usually pooped by the evening when I would have time to post. The two times I was all prepared to post I couldn't get on line. The first time I think the board was down and the second time had no internet as someone had cut a cable somewhere so we were without internet for about 12 hours or more.

I had a good workout this morning - went to an aquafit class. Had one hour of exercise in the water. It was fun. Been slacking a bit with the exercises lately but have managed the 2 mile walk twice this week and toning exercises once.

I have been a little ticked of as it doesn't seem to matter whether I stay on plan or wander off a bit I still don't lose. I've just checked my journal and see that I have lost the grand sum of 5 pounds since the middle of December. Oh well, I know it is better than gaining.

Sounds like there are lots of you doing very well. Congratulations on all the losses. Ashley, congratulations on reaching your goal. That must be a wonderful feeling.

Barbee, that was good advice you gave about cheating. Whenever I am tempted to cheat now I think of what you said - that we are only hurting ourselves. A few times I have pulled in the reins and stopped myself.

Has anyone heard from GloryB? It's been a long time since she has posted.

Debstahl, you were asking about a SB legal crust for quiche. I posted a recipe for a Brown Rice Crust Spinach Quiche which I thought was good. It is on the November Recipe Board - posted on the 20 Nov.

I'm getting to really like this new board. I'm finding it useful particularly for finding recipes. Much easier than going through each month to find something.

Debbie, I am not sure about the theory of being full of IT. In theory it should make a difference. But I have often weighed myself first thing in the morning and then again after a successful potty visit and it hasn't made one darn bit of difference! That being said, it is important to have regular bowel movements that's why we need to consume adequate amounts of fibre and fluids. Being constipated can effect the whole system, apart from feeling uncomfortable.

Fillise, sorry to hear about your knee problem. I don't know anything about the medication you are taking but if it does cause weight gain there are lots of other anti-inflammatory drugs out there. Maybe you could ask your doctor to prescribe a different one if it gives you a problem.

Quilter, welcome back. It sounds like you had a great holiday.

Has anyone seen the message from Suzanne about the cost of running this board and asking for voluntary donations? Sounds like they are running out of money, and not getting enough from ads. I wouldn't like to see the board close down for lack of money. If you haven't seen the message just click on "Please Help Support" at the top of the screen.

All for now. Time to start getting supper ready.

Marie :)

Welcome Hope and Idblond. I haven't been doing this WOE very long, but you'll have lots ofhelp from the friends here on this board.

SparkleScamp: Sounds like you're doing pretty good, a 40 minute cardio workout? I was having a bachache walking a mile in 17 min. Keep up the good work!

Cynsea: I'm glad your visit to you ob went well. Maybe by sticking to SB, you'll be down a few by the time the baby's born. Just so you and your baby are healthy.

Debbie: 23.5 miles this week. Way to go! I will be so glad when I can wal that far. Oh, and about the "IT" issue. I can believe it !

Fellise: Sorry to hear about your knee. Hope it's better soon. I have been having a problem with my left elbow. I can hardly even pick up a cup of tea. I don't know what it is. I don't have any injuries.

Karen: Great idea about the co-op. I'll have to check it out.

StarChaser: Sorry about your cold. I know how you feel with the thyroid disease. I have the same problem. SB WOE should be good for both of us. Hope the weight just melts off.

Kim: Welcom back from vacation. It sounds like you had a really good time. I haven't been able to get to Trader Joes. I sold my car before I moved here and we brought mom's. Well, she really didn't want to go that far the other day (it's about 40 or 45 minutes from the house, I think). So... I guess until she wants to go I'll have to wait until I get some wheels. I do know that you just keep going on 82nd street and continue after it turns into 86th. You'll keep going past the Meridian Street turn off probably about another 4 miles and then it should be across from Sam's Club.

Gator Gal: Love you walking gator!

Thought I'd get in a post before I go vegetate on the couch for a few hours. Went to JCPenney's, they have a sale of 25% off all regular priced items, then I get another 20% off. I saw a pair of shoes yesterday at Dillards I really wanted (mind you, I NEVER buy shoes except sneaks, and it's a major ordeal when I do). Anyhow, they had them at JC and I got them for 45% off!! What a bargin!!! I sorta feel guilty buying them, but I decided to go ahead and get them anyhow-I'm worth it, aren't I?:?:

Other than that, I went looking for sneakers, didn't find any. No black mid-tops to be found:( I only wear black sneaks, I know, I'm weird. The ones I have are wearing a hole in the ball of the foot and it's really starting to bother me, so I HAVE to get some so I can walk and walk comfortabley. Wish me luck, this task will not be easy!

FILLISE, hey girl, you are wasting away quickly! Congrats on that additional loss!! Do you have anywhere that you can go and swim for exercise, I would think that would be okay with your knees-then again, what do I know. Don't worry about meds that MAY make you gain weight, you just continue to follow SB and you'll still lose, it just may take a little more time and effort, but just imagine when you stop taking those meds, if they cause you to gain, what you'll lose when they are out of your system!!! As for the IT, I know I've been lax on drinking my water and eating enough fiber-I am keeping track of everything that enters my mouth today to see how I do. Hopefully, I'll get what I need NOT to have this "dookie problem".

KAREN, I have tried to find any co-ops in my area, they have NOTHING! You are so lucky, I have heard they are wonderful!! On the stomach problems with ice cream...I haven't eaten anything like that since starting SB, but on different diets before SB, I did eat some of that, well, you wouldn't want to of been within miles from me, boy, it does do a number on ones stomach. You are aware that you CAN eat premium brand ice cream instead-like Breyers. Since starting this WOE, I stay far away from foods that have things I can't say, or know what they are. BUT yes, those sugar subs will clean a gal out, won't they!!:o Thanks for posting that fact on the calcium. I've been trying to make sure I get enough calcium, as I KNOW I wasn't before. I buy the extra calcium milk and just bought the extra calcium cottage cheese-I think I'll do just fine with that today.

STAR, sorry to hear about you getting sick, I can sympathize after having that nasty flu that hung around for almost 4 weeks!!! Hope your Dr. visit went well. I'm THRILLED to hear about your 9lb loss since March 1st, that is AWESOME!! You should step on your scale and see if they are the same, otherwise, just weigh on the one that is nicer to you, or only weigh at the Dr.s when you go-it can drive one batty doing it daily, like me! A few months ago, one gal who is no longer with us told us the same thing about her boss saying her disposition was so much better since she had started SB-that's great for someone not only to see a change in the way you look, but to see a difference on how you project yourself!!

QUILTER, I think I have that same little book from WO, it's beigey right?? Small and rectangular?? If so, yes, there are some great things in there. Glad you liked the coffee, and how sweet of you to share it with others! I'll be sure to tell Mr. Coffee:) For walking, hmm, whatever you feel comfortable doing. You can start off with a mile and work up from there, either go for distance, or for time. You should try to keep up a nice pace for about 40 minutes to get your heart rate up and burn some calories-that is, if you have no medical problems that would hinder that. My MANICRUIST is Sharon:D She was here last night and did them before I went to bed. I acutally screwed up 1 nail, but that was because I wasn't careful and hit my sleeve, but otherwise, they seem to dry pretty quick-she does them French-and she really does a great job too! Can't beat the price either-FREE!!!! Hope you got some fiber in today to get rid of all dookie, who wants excess???

GATOR, what a great gif for you to post!!!! Thanks for posting your total weight loss!!!

SPARKLE, I know I've logged in enough miles to make it to California!! Me run, no way! Too top heavy. Women with big breastesses don't run, I may hit myself in the face and get whiplash! Now, just walking for this old goat. I walk outside. Bought a treamill YEARS ago and hated it (no insult to those of you who do like them), finally gave it to my Dad. I can walk the same route and find something new to see each time, or change my route if I want to. That's wonderful that you've hit the gym 4 times-good for you!! It's a definite help in more ways than one. Thanks for the nice compliment:o Congrats on getting into the blouse, that's a great accomplishment!!

ROSALIE, glad to see you back on the board, we miss you when you aren't around! That's great you are getting in your exercise. I know how you feel about being stuck, I'm in the same position-don't get discouraged. I haven't heard a thing from GLORY, I e-mailed her, but haven't heard a thing:( About IT, I was reading different things on the web, and it seems that even when you GO, there is still stuff up there, and can be for years! Not sure if I believe it all or not, as most of it is on sites promoting colon cleansing. I'll be looking into it more for a site that has nothing to sell, just info. I haven't seen a thing about voluntary donating, will definitely check it out!!! Thanks for the heads up about that!!

BIGO, thanks for the tip on the Uncle Sam for the newbies, I don't particularly like it.

CHERI, trust me, before you know it, you will be walking farther and faster-if I can do it, ANYONE can!!! Seventeen years ago I weighed a whopping 284lbs, honestly, I couldn't walk but a few steps, and that was after losing 40lbs-I thought I was going to pass out-every day I made myself go out, even when I didn't want to, and once out there, I was glad I went. Each day, I took a few more steps and got a little farther. It can be done!!!!

Well gals, I'm off to make something to eat, probably leftover chicken from last night, it was soooo yummy!!!

I'll check in later and will try to come back around 9:30pm for a CHAT if anyone is interested in joining me?

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Debelli...I did it!! 2 miles today in 30 min!! I wasn't sure I could do the second mile in the 15 min like the first because I was against the wind & really huffing like the big bad wolf, but I did some jogging too & that is also a first for me. A total of 8 miles this week. Are you proud of me??? I am proud of me. I've NEVER done this much walking & that was after a long day at work. But the weight loss & toning is not my only incentive. I will be part of the RELAY FOR LIFE team from our hospital on April 6th & I will be taking pledges to raise money for Cancer. We have a very long history of Cancer in my family. My Dad died of Melanoma when he was my age. And my mother is a cancer survivor(thyroid). So I have really determined to do the best I can. Well, I am going on alot more than I had intended to, but I was too excited not to post this.

Just a quick note to say hi. Don't have time to read today, we have plans for the evening, but I will try to read later. My weekend to work 12 hr shifts, so I'll miss you'll. Will try to at least drop by to say hello.

BOB...LOVE the salad bowl!! toooooo cute....:)
Cheri...very appropriate pix for St Pat's...I thought it was today, so I wore my greens... :o hehehe

Catch you'll later

DEB---Oh my gosh . . . you are NOT going to believe this, but I have black sneakers too!!!! I thought I was the only person in the whole world to buy them. I didn't wear them in FL because I didn't think they looked "tropical" enough. But I really like them. I got them at a running store here in town. They are New Balance Walking shoes and they make my feet feel great. They came in white, but I was kind of in the mood for a darker side of walking. What a coincidence!

BOB---Thanks for the chocolate thoughts. I can't seem to get the stuff out of my head today. Had a mid afternoon glass of chocolate milk to try and get the craving to subside. My tummy has been in a tailspin since my PFChangs meal last night. Something definitely didn't sit right. I have a funny waiter story that I'll share later. Thought you would enjoy it after your "bonding" experience at The Voyager. Tee hee. Give Skeeter a love pat from Aunt Kimmy and Cuz' Maddie.

Gotta run girls. We're just having scrambled eggs for dinner. Thank God I have a DH who doesn't expect or require much in the kitchen. He'll eat whatever I dish out . . . except for eggplant. He draws the line there.

Bye.

Just a quickie, searching the web (as always) and came across this great article from Calorieking! Hope you all find it interesting reading.

Coping With Weight Plateaus

SURVIVING FAMINES

Overweight people with their extra fat stores are at an advantage - at least when it comes to surviving a famine.

By contrast, the naturally thin person who has a wasteful metabolism and has difficulty storing calories as fat, will be the first to perish in a famine.

Thus, being overweight or obese is a decided survival advantage in times of famine. The trouble is, in countries like America, with its plentiful food supply, the famine doesn't come often enough!

PLATEAUS - A FAMINE SITUATION

The weight plateau is that annoying period of negligible weight loss that most dieters experience after initial good weight losses. The plateau is possible an example of how the body adapts to a famine situation. Reducing diets are interpreted as a food shortage or famine.

To survive a famine the body must preserve as much body mass as possible, and it does this by reducing the metabolic rate within 24-48 hours. This reduction can be quite dramatic - up to 45% with a severe calorie reduction. This greatly conserves energy and the diet becomes progressively less effective - a welcome situation in a famine, but not appreciated by the dieter!

Nevertheless, the body cannot hold on forever, and further weight, albeit small amounts will continue to be lost. As pointed out on earlier pages, the initial weight losses are mainly fluid losses, as the body settles down to expect a much slower rate of weight loss.

Treat the plateau as a time of rest - a coffee break - for the body to adjust to the weight loss already occurred, and as a preparation period for the next phase of weight loss. Certain biochemical changes have to be completed within the body before further weight loss can occur. Weight is rarely lost in a straight line and a number of mini-plateaus should be expected. When significant weight has been shed, body weight may remain level for up to 6 weeks. This is perfectly normal.

Self-discipline, patience and perseverance are the keys to success during plateaus. You should not expect to lose in a few weeks or months what took years to put on. The longer the plateau, the closed you are getting to the next phase of weight loss. Now, that's positive thinking!

EXERCISE WAKES A 'SLUGGISH METABOLISM'

Regular exercise is the perfect way - possibly the only way - to counteract the drop in metabolic rate from dieting. Exercise increases lean body weight which in turn raises the metabolic rate with more calories being burned. Exercise also firms and reshapes the body.

WEIGHT LOSS VERSES MEASUREMENTS

Be aware that during plateau periods, it is possible that you are still losing fatty tissue and becoming thinner without it registering on the scales.

If you are exercising regularly, fatty tissue losses may well be cancelled on the scales by muscle mass gains - a healthy situation. Weight can be static even though you may be reproportioning your body and losing centimetres.

During plateau periods, weigh yourself less often. Instead, pay more attention to your body measurements and check to see if your clothing is becoming looser. Keeping a weekly record of your measurements can be a good morale booster.

Fluid Retention

Fluid retention can account for weight variations of a few kilograms. This is especially common in women near menstrual time. Excessive salt intake can also exacerbate fluid retention.

LOWERING CALORIES FOR WEIGHT LOSS

As body weight is lost, fewer calories are required to maintain the lower weight ... in much the same way that a light car uses less petrol than a large heavy car. Examples are shown in the chart below.

To maintain a reasonable rate of weight loss calorie intake may need to be further reduced. However, there is little point eating much less than 800 calories (3300kj) as lean body tissue is more likely to be lost than fat tissue.

WEIGHT 205lb
MAINTENANCE CALORIES 3,000 -4,000
CALORIES FOR WEIGHT LOSS 1,500-2,000

WEIGHT 168lb
MAINTENANCE CALORIES 2,500-3,000
CALORIES FOR WEIGHT LOSS 1,200-1,500

WEIGHT 126lb
MAINTENANCE CALORIES 1,500-2,500
CALORIES FOR WEIGHT LOSS 800-1,200

Psychological Support

Plateaus can indeed be very discouraging, even depressing ... especially if you feel you have been doing everything right. During such times, it can be extremely helpful to have the support of a 'dieting buddy' or weight-watching group/club, who are all too familiar with the likes of your plight. You can discuss your situation with them and receive useful hints and encouragement. Again patience and perseverance are essential.

Debbie, I really don't believe in that colon cleansing stuff. I don't know if it is true that IT can remain there for years if you are going regularly. I do know that if you are chronically, severely constipated it can cause a bowel obstruction. This happens occasionally with the elderly. So keep up with the fibre and keep it moving!

Seeing all the posts about chocolate made me want some. I just had two pieces - yummy - the first I have had for quite a while. I buy lots of it but usually when I decide to have some there is none left - my DS is also on this woe and likes his chocolate. I'll have to start hiding some for myself.

StarChaser, congratulations on that 9 pounds loss. I'll do a HAPPY DANCE for you.

GatorGal, congratulations on the 10 pounds loss, WAY TO GO.

Cynsea, I'm sure you can do well on SB during your pregnancy. After all it is a healthy way of eating. Maybe it will also help to keep your blood pressure under control.

I love all the pictures that some of you are posting. I'll have to go and search the web and see what I can find. Then hope I can figure out how to post them.

I had a good day out to-day. I've been searching for a bathing suit as the one I have is beginning to wear out. Had to get a new one before my butt shone thru. It's sometimes hard to find something that fits. It was my lucky day to-day. I found two that fit so bought them both then got to the check out and found out they were on sale - 20% off. I was also looking for some luggage as I am planning a trip to the U.K., probably in the late spring. I found a three piece set for 60% off. I don't really need three pieces but it was too good to turn down. Cost less than one piece of another brand. At least I will have a choice of what size to take. If I can fit everything in the smaller one then that is what I will take, if not I can go to the bigger one. Have to have room for any shopping I may do while I am there. It also has a small bag which will do as an overnight bag if I decide to go on a trip while I am there.

Debbie, that's an interesting article you posted on plateaus. It reinforces what you have told us before about the number of calories for maintaining and weight loss.

Hope you all have a good weekend.
Marie :)

Evening Again!

MELF, CONGRATULATIONS! I am definitely proud of you! That's a great time for 2 miles. And 8 miles so far, hey girl, you're going to be walking right out of the state soon! Don't you feel wonderful after a walk like that!?! What I REALLY would like you to do is e-mail me with your mailing address and tell me how I can make a pledge for your place in the relay!

QUILTER, geez Kim, I knew I liked you before, but knowing you too like black sneakers, well, now I like you even more! I tried to wear white, bought some beautiful sneakers-they have yet to see the light of day! I just love black!!! I have to buy kids shoes though, I can't find mid-tops in womens ever!

ROSALIE, I don't know if I believe in that cleansing either, but it's interesting to read about it. Like I said, if someone has something to sell, you know they are going to make it out like it's needed more than it really is. They really don't say IT's up there for years, but I guess more like remnants along the lining-again, more reading. What brand of SB legal chocolates do you have in Mountie country?? Want to make sure if Eli goes to visit he brings me something good back from there! Congrats on those great bargins you got today!!! I posted some info a few posts ago about some SB legal chocolate my friend brought over from the UK-you may want to look for it while you are there.

Well gals, I'm pooped, going to go to bed in a few. Eli is off tomorrow (yeah) but no idea of our plans together. Just spending time with him is fine, even if we do nothing. I may try to hit a few garage sales tomorrow morning if I feel up to it. No walk tomorrow, my day off!:D

Have a good one!

Okay, the last time I went to England I had to buy another suitcase to carry home all my souvenirs and gifts. So here's what I think you should do. Pack all your stuff in the smaller suitcase and then pack it INSIDE the bigger one. Then you will have a whole extra case to bring home all those goodies. No space worries for you. Hope you have a wonderful time. If you're in London, go to Fortnum & Mason for tea. Wonderful. Don't tell DEB about it when you get back. Some things are better left unsaid. Ha!

Bye.

Thanks to everyone with information on the Relafen--especially Gator Gal. I usually don't have a problem with anti-inflamatories, so I'm crossing my fingers on this one. My gym does have a pool so I'm going to have to check out the swim schedule. The doctor did mention that as ok.

I also found the information on calcium very interesing. I have noticed on this WOE that my calcium intakr hs gone up--mostly because my consumption of milk and dairy has increased.

Sparklescamp--I'm not overly fond of the "legal"/ "illegal" distinction either, but it is a way to refer to the type of carbs that are acceptable on SB. I remember that the old OA diet called for no sugar or refined flours. That's pretty much what we are doing here.

StarChaser--Congratulations! I'm doing the bum knee happy dance! On the hard days, remember this is what success feels like! :smug:

Big Orange Babe--Sorry about your boys. Mine are still playing in the Not Invited Tournament. Oh well. I am also a big fan of Uncle Sam's Cereal. My NC family is in Wilmington and Kinston.

I'm going to go over to the chat to see if anyone is there.

Deb, the chocolate I buy up here in Mountie country is Lindt 70% Cocoa. I'll have to look for the one your friend brought over from the U.K. I think you said it was St. Michael - that would be from Marks and Spencer's. I'll be visiting that store for sure while I am there. They have lots of good stuff. We used to have M & S stores here in Canada but they all closed down a year or two ago, I guess they just weren't doing enough business here. But it is very popular in the U.K.

Quilter, that's a good suggestion about the suitcases, but I'm hoping the larger one will be sufficient. I don't want to take too much stuff with me as I would like to buy some clothes while I am there.

Nite, nite. :dz:

Thanks to all of you who gave input to my question this morning! I do drink 6-8 oz of water, at least, a day, but it never occured to me that my TOM is around the corner and that's why I'm feeling hungrier.

Debelli: I have listed everything I ate today. For the most part this is a fairly regular day for me, the tuna and halibut are exchanged with chicken, hamburger meat, roast, or steak, depending on what my family is eating. I definitely understand the concern of too much fat, although I haven't been watching it as close as I should, it would explain the sluggishness in my weight loss. Thanks for the information. I'm going to check out the website you spoke of right after I post this. Also, I am exercising (Martial Arts) at least 4 times a week.

6 oz water
Bowl of cereal: 1/4 cup whole wheat shredded wheat; 1/4 cup 7-grain puffed kashi; 1/4 cup extra all bran
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 egg omlet with cheddar/white cheese and mushrooms (purchased so guessing at how much, but I would say 1/4 cup of the cheese and mushrooms) and it was made on a grill so oil or butter was used (fortunatley this is only everyonce in awhile
cup of decaf green tea
20 oz bottle of water
Fuji Apple
20 oz bottle of water
Salad - 1/2 cup brocolli; 1 cup red cabbage; 2 mushrooms; 1 1/2 oz cheddar cheese; 1 oz swizz cheese; spinach - probably a cup and a half; and mixed "weed" salad 2 - 3 cups and one 6 oz can solid white albacore tuna in water
1/2 cup 2% milk and whole serving of Extra All Bran
1 piece string cheese
Fuji apple
20 oz bottle of water
1/2 grilled cheese: 1 slice Ezekial whole grain bread w/ 2 slices american cheese
halibut steak 6 oz?
snow peas 1/2 cup

As for the theroy on "dookie" (great word ;) ) I think it has merit. The bloating, etc. that comes along with not being regular, can make one uncomfortable and clothes that fit in the morning are snugger in the afternoon.

Sparklescamp: Cute picture!

Karen3000: I try not to have anything that has artificial sweetner (except for the rare sf yogurt) because it does a number to my stomach. No diareaha, but pain and sometimes nausea.

Melf: Could you please direct me to the area where you posted the crockpot reciepies? I don't know this site well enough yet to find things easily and something like this would help a working Mom and Dad of 3 young ones. Thanks.

GatorGal: Love the walking gator!

Finally, to all of you who are seeing the weight come off kudos - your doing super :)

Starchaser, I had my thyroid destroyed with radioactive iodine about 7 yrs. ago. That's when my weight problem started. =( I now take synthroid daily.

Quilter, Thanks for the welcome. Could you send me those links to crockpot cooking? If it's on this post I'm sorry that I missed it. It sounds great.

Posted a few days ago about my frustration with weight fluctuation...thanks for the replies. As you all well know, a little encouragement goes a LONG way.

Quick question..your replies would be appreciated. What motivates you to stay on track?

Is it the scale moving?
Clothes fitting better?

I just seem to lose motivation at some point along the way and end up taking one step forward and two steps back. I need to break the cycle!! I know that the motivation has to come from within, but I just am having trouble focusing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will spend mine re-dedicating and re-focusing.

As always you continue to inspire!!

Hi
Rapture, What motivates me to keep on this woe is bcause I do not ever want to gain back what I have lost. I have lost 30 pounds and it has taken me 15 months to get this far. I do get ticked off because I can go a long time without losing but I feel a 100% better since I have been on this woe. I have much more energy than I had before. It used to be a great effort to go up or down stairs, now it doesn't bother me when I have to run down stairs to do the laundry, for instance. I even sometimes use the stairs at work - something I always tried to avoid before as it took such great effort.

I've gone down two sizes which is also a good incentive. I get lots of compliments at work for the weight I have lost and the fact that I have been able to keep it off. This really boosts the morale.

This is enough to keep me on this woe, hopefully forever. O.K. I do cheat now and then and sometimes eat too much of the legal foods.

I hope you can keep motivated to continue this woe. It may take a while to get used to eating this way, but you will find that your cravings for the sugar and refined foods will diminish. Before starting this woe I would often feel hungry about an hour or less after eating a big meal. This hasn't happened since being on SB.

Good luck.

Marie :)

What keeps me motivated? I feel so much better--I also like the success! One thing I do when I need to re-inspire is to read the book again. Sometimes I need to remind myself what sugar and starches do to my body. I try to re-read the book periodically!

In the last few days I've really made an effort to start pushing water. It seems to be helping--another 1/2 pound gone. That makes three since Monday!

Happy Saturday Everyone:)

It is a beautiful cool spring day here. Our azaleas are starting to bloom, the daffodils are out and tulips are popping up. Went walking last night...didn't feel like it but told myself I would just do 1 mile and ended up doing 3.5. After being sick and stressed last month, I have had a hard time building back up my endurance but it is slowly getting back to normal.

Woke up this morning and weighed and I had dropped 2 pounds. Had to do a double take on the scales because I have been maintaining for about 2 months at 139-140 and it said 136.8 this morning.

MOTIVATION

Someone asked what keeps me motivated. I know many of you are new to the board and do not know my background. I am on this WOE because I felt so so bad before I started. Migraines lasting 3 days, bloating, mood swings, dizziness, and no energy. I was 38 and felt and acted like I was 80. One picture that I remember vividly is my family and I at a football game and they were walking to our car up a slight hill. I became so out of breath that I fell down and couldn't go any further. They had to come back and help me up. I was out of commission for about 2 days with a hurt back. So, what keeps me motivated is I am now happier, healthier and feeling so so much better.

Even if you are not at a weight like I was where you felt so bad, try to be motivated because you feel better eating right. If you concentrate on the weight and looks as I did for years, then you are doing it for outward reasons and not for your inner self. I really think the key is doing this for your innerself and no other reason!

Deb: We are going to the beach in a week and I will have a picture made that I can post. Thought it would be more appropriate since my name is beachfan! Your picture you posted of everyone together is great. How are the kids...anymore shopping trauma lately:)

Big O: Loved your Vols posting. I also liked that it was orange and blue...were you actually pulling for Auburn??

Fillise: Relafen upsets my stomach but I have to take it from time to time. My doctor told me to take tagamet when I am on the relafen. Vioxx is suppose to be good too.

Well, we have baseball today. My son Van plays and everyone in the community ends up at the park. I will walk the track during some of my time there.

Oh, Barbee...HI! I agree everyone should put their starting weight, current weight and goal below their names. Come on girls...it will help motivate you!

Being the full Irishman that I am (Grannys cooking cabbage and corned beef) I want to say....TOP OF THE MORNING TO YOU!!!!!

Last night, to celebrate my victory of a 9 lb lost, I danced all around the house in my underwear, with my dog Bogart at my side and Otis Redding blaring on the stereo! What a night!

I kinda looked like the picture of the dancing baby BOB has at the end of her last post. As a matter of fact that picture looks EXACTLY like me! BOB, where did you get my picture darling????

Ladies, have a good day!

Stay away from the green beer and watch out for those Leperchauns....they can be mean little devils!!!

Morning again!! :D

Had to reply:

BEACH: Im glad you brought that point up. Now, GATOR thinks it's FLA blue...if she would JUST THINK ABOUT what WE BOTH ALREADY KNOW.......WAR-EAGLE! :s:
For those of you who don't follow SEC football, Tennessee and FLA are HUGE RIVALS and a TENNESSEE FAN would NEVER be caught promoting anything to do with the FLORIDA GATORS!:nono:
We really do get along, we're just DIE HARD about our football teams. :D

STAR Corned beef and cabbage sounds good...I'm not Irish, but I think I will cook up some today! I would have given anything to have seen THAT SHOW last night. I'm sure Bogart had fun!

Well, I'm off to get the old noggin "shorned"...stopping off at BOOKSAMILLION to do some browsing, and of course, stopping for a bottle of peppermint oil for my burner.
Have a GREAT DAY EVERYBUDDY!!

StarChaser, wow! congrats on the 9 lbs!

Rosalie, the board I usually post at was down all day yesterday and I was suffering withdrawal symptoms. Hang in there as far as the relatively slow weight loss...sounds like you're doing the right thing.

Cheri, weird about the elbow. Have you tried massage and a heat pack?

Debbie, I have heard that covering the same amount of distance walking or running burns the same amount of calories...running is just faster, but hard on the joints (and breastesses, you use that word too huh!) I have been chatting with a couple of chicks "way up north" and they are complaining about not being able to run outdoors during the winter....that would suck! I'm pretty lucky to be living in Hawaii where I can run outside or even swim any time of year, but I usually end up on the treadmill anyway. I like the strict discipline of having to run a certain speed or fall off and look silly. ;)

Almost all my shoes are black but I absolutely can't find a pair of real running shoes (not crosstraining or walking) in solid black. I recently purchased a pair for the first time in a year (way too long, as those old shoes have a marathon and hundreds of other miles on them, and look like rags) and found it difficult to find shoes that were not orange, blue, neon green or all three at once. Finally I found a pair of New Balance running shoes in black, white and grey which was a decent compromise. I feel awful snazzy at the gym now with my new shoes and newly highlighted hair. ;)

Melf, wow 8 miles this week and planning a relay race too! Good luck and *I'm* proud of you.

Rapture, thanks for bringing up the question of motivation. I've found the answers very inspirational. If only you can change your pattern to two steps FORWARD and one step back you'll be there!

Wow, what motivates me. I feel so completely obsessed with my goal that sometimes I lose track of why I'm working so hard! If that makes sense.

I feel that my true self is not covered with layers of fat. I want to uncover the way I really am and not hide behind my weight. All my life I've thought, if only I could lose weight everything would be okay! I know now that's not true. But as long as I carry extra weight I can still hold on to the fantasy to some degree. I want to live in the present. I'm getting much better at doing that NOW, and I know that being thin is just a natural part of my recovery.

And, shallow as it is, a big part of my motivation has always been and still is to be (more, hehe) sexually attractive.

More: The little things that are nice about being thin(ner) (http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15486&perpage=15&pagenumber=1).

beachfan37, your story was one of the most incredible I have ever heard. And the fact that you have surpassed your goal....wow! I'm in awe. Looking forward to seeing that pic when you post it!

Okay, time for me to jump in the shower. Got a big day planned. I'm going to an OA meeting first thing because my recovery comes first. Then going to work, and walking with my dear sister, then going to see a friend go to give a speech, then going out for St. Paddy's Day, and whew I feel dizzy just thinking about it! But I'm pure energy. ;)

Although it was totally unplanned, I had a night out on the town last night, which hasn't happened in quite a while. I got TWO phone numbers that I might actually wanna call! ;)

Have a wonderful St. Patricks Day everyone!

Love,

Chris

Hello-
I'm back from a trip to a rubber stamping boutique. My head is spinning with all the stuff I saw. Wow. I only spent $3!!

I made the ricotta cheese cookies. I only ate two (so far..HA!). I really think I'll be okay now. I figured out that they have AT LEAST five grams of sugar per cookie (and they aren't even iced yet!) Once I ice them later tonight I am sure I won't eat one. Well, I'm pretty sure!

I am totally pigging out on corned beef!! It has so much salt, I know I am going to be paying for it later. I truly only eat it once a year so I'm not going to worry about it. I've been sneaking bites from the pot. Tonight I am going to offically have it for my dinner with TONS of cabbage, which I love.

We had a nice chat last night. Maybe we could have a scheduled chat sometime over the weekends...Thursday nights are kinda hard since its a "school night".

CHERI...you could have cabbage and potatoes as an alternative to corned beef!! Ooops..no potatoes (duh)! Cabbage only....?

Sparklescamp...have fun on your night out on the town!!

RAPTURE...what keeps me motivated is the fact that my clothes fit sooooo much better.

FILLISE...keep up the good work with the water. I am lucky that water is my beverage of choice, and always has been. I still need to drink more though!

HOPE2001...Uncle Sam Cereal can be found in most super markets. It is hardly processed at all, no sugar and LOTS of fiber. I mix it with Kashi (another super no sugar cereal) for breakfast. I know what you mean about not being in school for St. Pats. Its the same feeling when April Fools is on a weekend! My kids were still hyper b/c we made leprechaun traps and the leprechauns left glitter and gold chocolate coins all over the room. :o) I teach first grade, what grade do you teach?

Speaking of school...I'd like to ask all of you a favor...I'm the web master for my school's site. I just changed the format and I'd like some feedback. If you have an extra minute would you check it out and let me know what you think as far as layout, design, functionality, navigation...Here's the address http://www.pmsd.org/bec/index.html
Specifically the home page ( I think there are too many cardinals) and the computer resources page. BE BRUTALLY HONEST. Thanks!

I'm off to church, then picking up stuff for the shower tomorrow, then coming home to make stuff for the shower tomorrow. In the meantime, my house is a mess!! Oh well.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

What a day!!! Traffic is terrible down here in the winter.
No offense Rosalie, but someone needs to teach the people from ONTARIO HOW TO DRIVE!!!

Well, tutor training is over and I have a mini victory to report. As I’ve reported in the past, it’s my duty as teacher to bring the breakfast refreshments. So this morning I took all kinds of bagels and those yummy cream cheeses and Brummel and Brown Spread. Plus a box of choc covered donuts. Well, there were left overs and I packed them all up in a bag and carried them straight out to the library assistants/students who work in this building at XU. (Yes, the place who’s team was eliminated last night. Boo hoo. Yes, and I know BOB, not the SEC so it really doesn’t count, right?) Anyways, I didn’t even take one little nibble. The strawberry B & B looked tempting, but I stood strong. I had saved a few pieces of cheese and triscuits from lunch and munched on that while cleaning up. That feels so good to be committed. Let’s hope it lasts!!!!!

HOPE---Here are the links for the crockpot that was posted earlier by someone else. (I can’t take credit for them.) I’ve only scratched the surface of it. The about.com site has a ton of different links and I haven’t gotten to all, but have already found some wonderful things to try.
http://busycooks.About.com/food/bus...ooks/msubcp.htm
http://www.wizard.net/~tihzta3/cook...e/crockpot.html

RAPTURE---I know what you mean about hitting a point where you just can’t seem to get going on the right track. I’ve been there before with other attempts to lose weight. I feel with SB that I must get rid of the sugary things in my life forever. Before I always thought I’d diet UNTIL I got the scales to be nice and THEN start back with my old way of eating. No wonder, nothing has ever worked. So even though I do have moments of weakness, I am really trying. As long as I tell myself I’m doing the best possible job I can do on this, I will stay with it. There are days when I beat myself up and then I just kind of get up and start over. Also, this board keeps me going. I have developed some good friendships on here and I must keep going for them. I know they want me to succeed and I don’t want to sabotage my own efforts. Plus, hearing about the people who are hitting their goals or are very close, make me want a bit of that action. Just know we are all pulling or you to do well. Also I agree with FILLISE . . . reading the SB book over and over really helps.

RHROO---Hey, girl! I feel like I haven’t talked to you in AGES. Not since before my big trip. So I’m glad you are well and liking what you are seeing on the scale. Don’t get too cocky with that success and go wild with the sugar. HA!!!! Just kidding. I’m one to talk about that. Years and Years ago I was three pounds away from goal, proceeded to get the skinny girl big head and put every pound back on. How unhealthy is that! Rest assured you WILL HIT 135 and when you do we’ll all do the happy dance for you. It won’t take you long. You are less than 10 away. That must feel awesome. Good work, dear friend!!! Think of where you started. Whew, that’s some determination.

BEACH---Congrats on the drop! What a nice surprise, huh? Your motivation thoughts were so great. I really appreciated them and I wasn’t even the one who asked about it. I also agree that we should post our weights if we feel comfortable. When I see where you started and where you are now, that really makes me want to keep going. Have fun at the beach!!!

Speaking of corned beef and cabbage . . . I saw a crock pot recipe at one of the links. Should I look and post it on the recipe board? I know it’s too late for St. Pat’s day. And a word of warning . . . watch out on loading up on the cabbage. May come back to bite you in the you-know-where . . . if you catch my drift.

And here’s another odd thing . . . DH and I had French toast tonight for dinner. Seems like a kind of sacreligious thing to do on SPD. Especially considering that we both have real red hair and look totally irish. Hmmm.

OVERCOME---Your holiday stamp is precious. You make me want to give up quilting!!! Your hobby looks like lots more fun. I still cannot believe that you brought up that book last night. I read more after the chat and I really do like it. Maeve Binchy always comes up with the best villains. Maybe villains is too strong of a word, rude people is probably a better choice. There’s already two in this one who need some humbling experiences. I’ll say no more.

Here’s a little bit of info I found in my new WO book. It’s entitled White Flour: a sad story. When white flour is refined: 93% of fiber is removed. 50% of linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid humans need to take in for basic health) is lost. 22 minerals and vitamins are reduced to 20% of original content. Most vitamin E is removed. Then it is fortified with 3 B vitamins and iron. Further bleaching strips the remaining nutrients and leaves dioxin residues.

Think of that the next time your achin’ for a cookie. Girls, have a wonderful evening. I’ll check back later. DH & I are being a boring married couple tonight and staying home. No green beer for us!!!

Take care.
Kim

Well, a beautiful day here in paradise, and we worked in the yard, planting a few more roses.

Star--Before Spurrier, no one ever said that their favorite team was who ever was playing the Gators. Now that the Gators are a winning team, all the other SEC teams are not so happy with FLA. No one every paid us any attention before 1990 with our 7-4 or 6-5 seasons. I think the Gators would rather be "hated." I was in Red Stick the year the Tigers upset the Gators. Watched the fans tear their own goal posts down, too. It was a sight to behold. The announcer was saying something about the fans staying off the field, and people were pouring over those walls like ants on a popsicle. A few--about 10--measley policemen ran out on the field, but they were no match for the LSU fans. It was really funny.

Fillese, was it you taking the Relafen? Anywho, if you take it with meals you won't need to take any other drugs such as antacids. I've never had any problem IF I take it with food. The doctor always recommended that.

We worked in the yard, and I have to say that I have no energy. Don't know why. I could have napped all afternoon.

Bought a few more fish for our pond. Got two beautiful yellow koi for the big pond in the back.

Deb, we went to Penneys tonight and used our 25% off ticket. The prices there are fantastic because there are sales even without the 25% off coupon, and with that you can practically steal the merchandise.

OK, SEC fans, you gotta pull for the Gators to go all the way to the final four. They are in the toughest division, with both UNC and Mich. State, who won the whole thing last year. They beat UF in the finals. Gotta have an SEC team win it. We had 6 teams in the tourney, and it looks like the SEC has caught up with the ACC in Bball.

Gotta go. Have to get ready for my class tomorrow.
Here's a pix of me lounging in my back yard on the patio by the pond.

Evening Everyone!

Got home a little bit ago, boy, I can see how I am going to keep busy tonight-you gals have been busy on the board today! Eli & I just went for lunch and to a few stores, nothing exciting. Tomorrow, going to the Renissance Festival with our UK friends-hope I don't get bored, kids seem to like going to it.

You'd all be proud of me, I actually wore someting NEW! A new blue top, new black stretchies (okay, so the style isn't new), and a new pair of shoes! You wouldn't recognize me without my usual "uniform."

Hey, for all of you eating corned beef and cabbage, doesn't the cabbage make you have (I'll put this nicely), flatulence???

ROSALIE, we have Lindt 70% here too, I actually have 4-5 bars I've yet to open. BIGO & I found some on sale for $1.50USD last week. Yes, the name of one of the UK chocolates was St. Michael, the other is Thorntons, which is the one I tried, VERY GOOD! Your motivation is inspiring, many people would give up because they haven't seen the results they want, but you keep trying, and I know your rewards come far and few between for you, but hey, they do come!!!

BLOND, your menu looks okay, but you may want to think about cutting back on your cheese consumption-it may help you a bit, you can try using less, and see how it goes. Try to increase your water a bit, that too can help.

HOPE, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD, it's nice to learn a bit more about you:)

RAPTURE, to throw my 2 cents in on what keeps me motivated-#1 is this board and the wonderful group of women on it! #2 is watching the scale go down #3 seeing my clothes getting bigger on me #4 wanting to meet my goal & #5 reading the Motivational Board ! Possibly you lose your motivation because you expect results fast and get discouraged when you don't meet your expectiations??:?: Just a arm chair theory. No one has to tell you that this is going to take time. When I first started SB I thought I'd be at goal by my last birthday (in Oct), here I am almost 6 months later and I'm not at goal yet. I didn't get discouraged as my bday came and I knew I wasn't going to reach that goal, I knew that in the summer! But I've stuck with this WOE because I love it, and not having cheated in almost 1 year is more amazing to me than the weight loss. I know I will reach goal in the next couple months and after doing this for a year, what's another couple months-it goes by so fast. Just stick with us, stay focused, and you'll meet your goal!!!:)

RHROO, hope you didn't have to work too hard today. Honestly, if I knew the dookie cleaning would produce 7lbs, I'd rush out to the store and buy whatever it takes to get rid of it! I'd be at goal too!!!

FILLISE, CONGRATS on the additional loss!!! I'm going to have a glass of water just in your honor!! Reading the book again to get motivated is a great idea.

BIGO, oh yes, you definitely know how to brown nose-but really, you don't need too, I already like you!:o Thanks for those great words about me, you make me really feel important! I feel the same about you and hope all the gals on the board get to meet you as well-you are so much fun! Hope you enjoy your movies, I want to see Meet the Parents. Sharon went to see HEART BREAKERS, said it was hysterical.

BEACH, glad to hear you are getting in your walks, I know how hard it was for me getting back into my walking after being sick, so I can sympathize. Hey, great about the scale going down-you're doing so great!!! Can't wait to see your beach picture!!!! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time, and you surely deserve a vacation!

STAR, thanks for the dancing report, I can just invision you!! You SHOULD celebrate, it really is a great accomplishment!

SPARKLE, sorry to hear your board was down, we can totally relate to that, when they were updating the boards, they were down for a bit over 2 days! I guess those of us who live in more tropical climates are lucky to be able to go exercise outside moreso than the northerners-but then again, come summer, rains do put a damper on my walking many days.
I went looking for sneaks today, found a pair I liked, though they didn't have them in my size (they are kids). Can't find a stinkin pair in women's-hate that! Sounds like you had a full day planned, hope your day was great!

CHERI, didn't realize you were a vegetarian-do you not eat beef, or does it go for chicken and fish as well? My son is also a vegetarian, lacto-ovo. I thought it would last a week, it's now 4 years!

OVERCOME, hey, you showed some great self-control at the rubber stamp thing!! Way to go!! I forgot all about the salt in the corned beef, not that I am eating any today, but it's good to remember when everyone is crying that the scale is up-just remind them about the salt!! Anytime anyone wants to schedule a chat, just post it-it doesn't have to be me doing it, anyone can:) I like the school site, but have to agree, too many cardinals.

QUILTER, got the pictures today, they're great! Thanks for sending them. I'm going to see if Sharon can get to her scanner and get them scanned so I can post them, if not, do you think Paul can do it for us?? Congrats on resisting the temptations of the foods today! How did you make the French toast, with which bread?? I made some with EZ bread a few weeks back, it was awful!

GATOR, glad you got some great deals at Penney's today! I found Michael his fav. socks that have been discontinued, got him 30 pairs for a price of $15!! He'll be getting some for the next few holidays! I can only imagine you working in your yard, it's so pretty!!!

Well gals, I'm outta here for the evening. I'll check in tomorrow sometime. I'll be gone most of the day, so if I don't get on in the AM, I will surely catch up with the board in the evening.

Nite!:dz:

Big Orange Babe, Gator Gal, Beach Fan--what oh what am I going to do if UNC and UF meet in the tournament????? :?:

As an ACC fan, I'm sworn to hate the tarheels and root against them whenever possible. As an SEC fan, I'm sworn (it's an actual city ordinance in Auburn) to hate the gators and root against them whenever possible. What's a girl to do?

For everyone with advice on the Relefen. I'm taking it with food and so far no problems. I think it will be ok! Thanks for relating your experiences. Now if my knee would just stop hurting so I can get back to the gym!

I hope everyone had a good St. Patty's day--we eye-talians don't go in for that holiday too much, so no corned beef and cabbage for me!

Must go to bed now. I'm having a meeting at my house tomorrow--must feed people lunch. I have two dozen cookies in the kitches. I've bound and gagged the little buggers so they can't call out to me in the middle of the night!

Hi everyone!

I am so bummed  It's the case of the missing entry. I typed this whole thing out and "poof" and empty screen.

Oh, well. It sounds like everyone had a good day today. I thank you all for all of the motivation. Seeing where some of you have started and how far you've come. It makes me impatient to get to the place where you all are. Thanks.

Debbie: I used to be a vegetarian and then I slipped and started eating meat again. Well, that wasn't doing me any good and so just recently, I started getting back to basics. I really feel so much better not eating meat. I do eat fish, dairy and eggs.

Kim: When are you coming to Indiana to visit your brother again. Maybe we can hit Starbucks and Trader Joes.

Well, it's getting late. Thanks again for all of the input and help.

Hey GatorGal,

I too was at that LSU and Fla. Game (1997 I believe). Florida was ranked No.1 and LSU beat them! It is an experience I'll never forget. It probably ranks as my all time favorite LSU win, maybe a tie for that famous "earthquake" game against Auburn. That was the game when LSU scored the winning touchdown and the earth actually moved. The crowd noise registered on the graph machine at the building that monitors earthquakes. True Story!

Unfortunally, LSU hasn't had anything to brag about since. All though we did beat that team from Tennessee this year!!!!!!!!

But alas, we have a million dollar coach as well and maybe the "Eye of the Tiger" will be back!!!

In the meantime, please know that I ALWAYS pull for the SEC...even when it's Florida....SO GO GATORS TO THE FINAL FOUR!!!!!!!!

But come October 6, 2001 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, it's the Tigers and the Gators!!!

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

Thought I'd get in a quick post before I hit the pavement-trying to wake up, as I'd much rather be in bed.

Eli just got word that his conference is going to be in LAS VEGAS the end of May-lucky guy. I told him, do or die, you find a way to make it to Trader Joes!!!:sneaky: Honestly, I only want 3-4 items, olive oil, Marantha Almond Butter and the tomato splash, at least this is what I want for now-the list may grow.

FILLISE, glad to hear things are going well with the new drug. Hope your meeting goes well today, I'm sure it will!!!

CHERI, I know EXACTLY what you experienced with losing your post out there in cyberspace-it happens to me more times than I care to remember. Funny thing is, right when it happens, I can't remember for the life of me, half of what I wrote in the first place! We don't eat too much meat in our home, and most of the time, it's lean ground lamb or beef when we do, once in a while, Jewish pork chops:lol: I find I tend to get sluggish when I eat a steak, or something in the meat family that's heavy. It's hard having Michael being a veg. as I have to make him something different on days we eat "little animals". I hope you and Kim can get together and go to Starbucks and TJs-take a picture of me along just to make me feel like I was there-dying to find a way to get to TJ's, Starbucks doesn't do a thing for me!!

Time for me to get dressed and start pounding the pavement. I'll check in with you all tonight. Please remember, tomorrow is Monday and we start the new board!!!

Deb, Hope you had a good day at the Festival. Your new outfit sounds great!

Overcome, I'd love to see some of your rubber stamping. I'd love to try some rubber stamping but I am afraid to start one more thing. I just bought an embroidery sewing machine and I am really enjoying it.
I teach 3rd grade for now but I am a 1st grade teacher at heart. I taught 1st for 10 years. Hope to go back one day. I love your school site. It is a great resource for children and teachers. Good morning All you Winners!!!

Hey before I forget, I got an email from VIV yesterday (and chatted with her briefly on IM). She said to send greetings and hugs to everyone. She’s a bit blue with some bad things going on with her dad. (Ill health and 3000 miles away) So she told me she doesn’t want to be a “downer” on the board. But to let everybody know that she’s lurking and with us in spirit. Let’s all keep talking to her on the board, just like normal--like she’s posting everyday. I think her trip to FL will be a good boost for her emotionally, but the thing with her dad will probably hang over her head like a cloud. Anyways, she sounded okay last night. Just wanted to pass her message on to you. I think she needs our good thoughts and prayers.

ORANGE---So that’s where you were last night. Right after we posted (together) I thought you’d be back on. What did you think of meet the parents? We watched that last week. I would have gotten the heck our of dodge the minute I shook hands with the dad. What about his last name? Pretty funny, huh???? Did you post pictures of you and Deb, and Gator? I can’t seem to find them. Be sure and show Skeeter Cousin Maddie’s picture. Okay? She says, “Woof!” to him and you, Auntie Orange.

DEB---Yes, I’ll see if Paul can scan the pictures. If he doesn’t have time, I’ll try and do it at his office one night after work. Shouldn’t take but a minute. I’ll let you know. We made our french toast with the PF SGWW bread. Did you know PF has two kinds of 100%SGWW? A thin smaller loaf and a sandwich size. We also use the cary’s sf syrup. I like it and only use a couple of drops. Because I put enough cinnamon and vanilla in the egg mixture, you don’t need that much syrup. Also, I have a question about the unsweetened carob chips . . . I bought them at WO the other night and have twice now snacked on them. Just having 1 or 2 tablespoons at a time. Do you think this is okay. AT first I didn’t think I’d like them becasue they definitely don’t taste like chocolate. But I really like them now. Is there anything in them that would be illegal. I bought them in the bulk aisle and don’t have all the info about them.

CHERI---We haven’t set a day to visit my brother. I know we’ll probably be there during the Easter weekend. My bro is a minister and the only time we go to church is when we’re visiting them. So we’ll for sure be there then. Is that too crazy of a weekend to hit TJ’s? Are you going to Michigan for the holiday? Anyways, let me know what you think. Isn’t Easter like the weekend of the 17th. We’ll probably both have that Friday off and will come over then. That would be so great if we could get together.

Well, guys, Paul and I are purging an upstairs storage room. He had all this old computer equipment (and I mean OLD) that was just taking up space. He moved a lot of it out yesterday. I told him seeing all that stuff go was getting me “hot & bothered”. (The perfect afrodisiac!!! Anyways, I have a bunch of stuff that needs to go so I think we’ll do a couple trips to Goodwill this afternoon. At least it’s not raining today so we won’t have to get drenched while unloading all the stuff. Take care. Have a wonderful Sunday. I’ll check back later.

Hey, HOPE!! You and I posted at the same time so I missed your message. I knew I liked you . . . you're a teacher. I love teachers. Such an IMPORTANT job!!!! As far as the quilting goes, I have always pieced and quilted by hand. This current project I am piecing by machine and will quilt by hand. If I ever get it finished . . . the machine quilting is MUCH harder than the hand piecing and things don't always come out as even and measured perfect as they do when you are doing it by hand. I'm flat-out frustrated right now. But machine quilting makes the quilt stronger so that's why I'm doing it. Thanks for asking. I'm like you though, Overcome's stamping sure looks inviting. I'm thinking that's a craft for my future.
bye.

Goodmorning!

It looks like a great day outside. The sun is out and makes me want to get out and take a walk.

Kim: Easter is on the 15th. I'm not sure yet if my two sons and their families will be coming down on Good Friday or not. If they don't, it would be great to finally get to meet. I'll let you know.

Deb: Kim and I will be sure take your picture down each isle as we go.

Overcome: I really like doing stamping too. I got into it when I lived in Michigan. I am making a scrapbook for my Grandson right now. It's so much fun. I like stamping on furniture and walls too. It looks so nice.

Viv: Hang in there, you and your family are in my prayers.

Hope: Have you found any other good recipes for your crockpot? I'm thinking about getting mine out and trying to see if I can find some vegetable stews, etc. for it.

BOB: Let us know how the movies were. I picked up the movie "I Dreamed of Africa" with Kim Basinger. It was good but sad. Also went to see "The Mexican" with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt. It was good too.

Well, I'll check in later. Everyone have a great day!

Hope all who were celebrating St. Paddy's day had a good time and enjoyed their corned beef and cabbage. Given me an idea for supper this week. Haven't had that for ages. It doesn't have to be St. Pat's to enjoy it.

It's a bright sunny day here but no flowers showing their heads yet. The lawn is still partly covered with snow and we have about 6 feet of the stuff on the corner of the lawn. It's the dumping ground when they plow.

BigO, sorry those Ontarians are driving you crazy down there. They must be going berserk when they get to the hot weather after being frozen up here. How were the movies you watched last night?

Beachfan, glad to hear you are doing so well. Another 2 pounds down, WOW. And you thought you would have trouble maintaining.

Starchaser, I hope there were no hidden cameras when you were doing your HAPPY DANCE. That's a great loss. You have reason to be happy.

Quilter, it was great that you could resist all those goodies. Congrats. Would you mind posting the link for the crockpot Corned Beef and Cabbage. After seeing the description of white flour that you posted makes me more resolved to stick to the SGWW.

I've checked out some of the crockpot sites and have copied a few recipes from CHERYL's KITCHEN. I'm cooking the Swedish Cabbage Rolls to-day. Tomorrow I may try the Sweet and Sour Chicken. Then there's Sweet and Spicy Garbanzo Stew which looks good. (No sweetener in the recipe but does include sweet potato.) If they turn out O.K. I will post them on the recipe board.

Well, at last the painting of my bedroom is finished. Now I have no excuse for not cleaning up the house. It's been a mess for so long with stuff all over the place. It will be nice to get it organized again.

Deb, congratulations on the new outfit. I am sure you looked wonderful. The reason I stick to this woe, apart from the fact that I feel better, is because I know if I go back to the old way of eating I would gain again and I really don't want that to happen after coming this far.

Viv, it's always hard when someone is sick in the family but even worse when they are so far away. My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope things improve for your Dad.

Have to go and do some chores now and get this room straightened out.

Bye

Marie.

Hi everyone and Happy Sunday!

We finally have a beautiful day here and it got me thinking about clothes to take on our trip to Myrtle Beach. I dug out some things I was wearing when I was doing a lot of walking 2 summers ago. Most of it fit! I've lost 13 lbs and was really glad to see that it was making a difference. So now I'm much more motivated, especially during the time left before our trip. It's time for me to really push the water and exercise and keep with the program. So, that's my pep talk to myself, down in writing for everyone to see.

I have learned, though, that I can't have the legal chocolate in the house. I was so excited to find it, but I won't be buying anymore until I have more control over these urges. It should be my TOM, but I'm not always regular. This may explain part of the reason I lost control, but I can't have that stuff around.

I'm sorry I don't respond more to each of you individually. I read everyone's post and intend to, but don't do a good job of it. It's so nice to have a community of caring people who don't bicker, like on some other boards! Everyone should be proud!

VIV - I especially wanted to make sure to say hello to you and tell you that we're thinking of you. It's so hard when you don't live close by to be able to help or watch over someone. I hope that you have a good support system, besides this board, to help you through the tough times.

Have a great day everyone!

Good afternoon to all

Ok I am confused and have a question. I want to try baking some of the stuff on the recipe board....what should I use as the sweetener???? I know that Deb likes the Agave nectar, but I have to order that online-right. And some use frutose- but some that I found was corn frutose. One package I was yesterday said it was made from corn but not from corn syrup....so is the legal? Maybe I just to forget baking??

I am getting ready to take some of the clothes out of my closet that I can't wear anymore. Cause they are TOOO big :). What a great feeling. and a great motivator.

Hope all has a great day. Laurie

Fillise-- The answer is EASY! If the Gators and UNC meet in the tournament, ALWAYS pull for the SEC team. It's a no-brainer. We ALWAYS want the SEC to look the best, and so even if another SEC team is an opponent in football (which half of them always are!!!) then you don't pull against the SEC team, unless they are playing your alma mater.

I just returned from Church and ate a little tuna for lunch. I'm off for that big half mile hike. Hopefully sometime during the end of the week I can extend that a little more. That's my goal.

It looks as though everyone had a great week and is doing well. Can't wait to start week 3 with you guys.

GATORGAL: Hope I didn't offend you with my football post, darling. I was just funny!!!

See ya'll later

Star, I never knew about the "earthquake" game at Baton Rouge. That must have been something. We LOVE to go to the LSU game there. We spend a few days in NO. Usually we go with friends. We took a barge trip one year, going down the Miss. just a little ways and then back into the bayous. Don't, I repeat, don't ever take a barge trip. It was a boring 4 hours. Actually, it was not called a barge trip. It was called a bayou tour, but all we saw was barges going down the Miss.

We are pulling hard for Ole Miss (they beat us in the SEC Bball tourney!) and for Ky, and of course, for the Gators. The Rebels barely pulled out their game yesterday. It would be great to see an SEC team in the finals. We actually had 6, count 'em, six teams in the Big Dance, but Big Orange and I have been crying over Tennessee's and Georga's and Arkansas' loss in the first round. We want our guy's to WIN.

Fillese, Gainesville doesn't have an ordinance like that. If they have any similar ordinance, it would be to pull for Auburn in every game except when they play UF. We went to a number of games up there. It's a really pretty campus. Isn't that the one where they have the "Tiger Walk"? Is theat where the team walks through the crowd to get to the stadium? Sounds pretty neat. We never made it to downtown Auburn because we parked on the Interstate side of the campus. Walked almost to the little downtown, but never got to explore. Heard that it was a typical cute college town.

It's cool here today. Actually, I'm cold. It's overcast and looks chilly outside. The Winter Park art show is quite a large one in the south. It is tradition that even though March is normally beautiful, it is always poor weather on the weekend of that show.

All you exercisers--you go, girls!! :)
I have been doing poorly in that area. Unless yard work counts.

We have a get together tonight--our usual Sunday night group. And one family will be attending that often is not there. They usually bring the best "goodies." That's why I started taking salads. But I must confess that I am getting a little tired of salads, especially on a cold day. They just don' warm me up. Any suggestions?

Big Orange, how were the movies?

Debelli, will Eli get to go to some shows while he is in Las Vegas? That is my favorite part of that town. They shows are really good.

Well, gotta go. Might try to work on a shirtwaist dress I've been meaning to sew.

Take care, everyone.

Good Morning... it's a beautiful day here in California!

Looking for SB strength going forward into a new week. I have really found it hard to stay on plan over the last
few weeks (maybe even a month). There were just so many changes going on in my life and they seem to make a good excuse not to follow this WOE.. (you know how we try to kid ourselves).. This glorius day reminds me that Spring is only a few days away and this is not how I want to go forward...

I really feel that in order to "refresh" the SB pioneer spirit, I need to make an effort to post at least once a day. The board in the past truly gave me the feeling of being a part of an effort to get healthy together.. So this is my promise to myself this week .. to stay tuned and stay active on the board.

Laurie: Have you thought of using Splenda for your baking?

THE BIG ORANGE BABE

GATOR: We have the VOL WALK in Knoxville. The team comes from their dorm down VOLUNTEER BLVD to NEYLAND STADIUM As a general rule, there are hardly any visiting fans in the crowd that gathers though. If they let you stand in the crowd with your GATOR GARB on, you were lucky~

I've watched the CONTENDER and NURSE BETTY so far.
The other two I am saving for tonight...AS USUAL, there is nothing worth watching listed!
The CONTENDER is WONDERFUL and might be one that I would buy to watch every now and then. Nurse Betty is funny, but I wouldn't watch it again.
I'll let you know about the others tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon. The clouds are moving in from the Gulf, and the rain is supposed to begin later on...HOPEFULLY, the forcast is correct and it will be a steady rain for two days....

I've been to Neyland stadium the first year they changed back to grass (1994) and then again in 1996. Had a wonderful time. It's a great stadium, with a fabulous view of the river. It's a bear getting in to the stadium, though. Too many people in too few entrances. We didn't see the Vol Walk, but did go to the SEC museum that they have on campus, along with the 1/2 field indoor football practice field. Now that's fanatical. We were jealous!!! :) Great museum, BTW.

The Gators are stinking up the place and won't make it past this round in the NCAA. Temple will go instead :(
We're hoping that the Ole Miss team and the Ky wildcats can win theirs and at least two SEC teams will be represented. So far the big 10 have 3 teams still in the running.

Well, gotta go. We have a meeting and we leave one minute ago!

Here's a pix of me, a sad little gator.

I keep getting the email notifications everytime someone posts after me, and I'm trying to NOT get them. So I've edited my options in my profile. Will try again and see what happens after the next post. The box is unchecked below so that would make me think I won't get anything. Can anyone else think of something to be checked or unchecked?

Bye.

Meeting is over and everyone is gone--whew! I love entertaining, but also am happy when everyone leaves.

Gator Gal--well sorry about UF. Auburn is a beautiful town. Next time you are up you should walk around. We do have the Tiger Walk. It's pretty neat.

The scale is still moving down--another pound today. That makes four since last Monday. I want y'all to remember this, so that when it stalls you can remind me that it goes in spurts.

Oh my Gosh! What a week with this computer! Somehow the whole hard drive crashed and I have been reformatting and loading hardware and software for days! Thank God for Gateway Tech Support!

I learned a lot about computers!

It was really tough staying OP without all you guys for support - I guess I did ok. I am still losing very very slowly though... oh well, better than gaining.

Barbie: sorry, didn't get your phone # til you called. i called you back today and left message with your OH. But, I have been on the phone with Tech support since!!!

Deb: finally tried the hummus recipe - yummi. Got a question.. in the Glucose Revolution it rates Kavli as really high GI - isn't that what you said to dip in the hummus - strange to be high as they are whole grain...

Everyone else: I have missed you all but have been playing with the computer for days now, so not real into writing now. Will write tomorrow. Love you all!

Hey Everyone:)

It's pretty day here. Went for my walk and I feel so so good.

Just wanted to put in another plug for excercise. EVERYTHING I have read says the key to losing and KEEPING the weight off is regular excercise. My philosophy is to just do SOMETHING for at least 30 minutes a day. So everyone get motivated and get out there and JUST DO IT:cool:

Have a great day everyone. See you tomorrow.

Can anyone say "pig out"??? I ate a lot today. All legal but, whoa! The shower was a success. The guest of honor called an hour before and said "I can't come over today (she thought she was coming to a stamping party) because my feet are too swollen." Yikes! We had to tell her to come over b/c we were throwing her a shower. It worked out fine. She got so many great things.

Great food! I only ate Triscuits but oh what I loaded on those triscuits! Crab and cream cheese, artichoke dip, hummus, mexican dip. I feel really full. And I must have eaten a pound of corned beef yesterday!! I don't dare step on the scale until WIW!!! I can feel the water I'm retaining from that salty corned beef. This was, without a doubt, the worst weekend I've had since January (concerning food). I can't wait for the discipline of going back to work, packing a lunch and planning what I'm eating. Uggggh.

I'm going to clean the house a bit (that should burn some calories!) and do some schoolwork before the Soparanos come on tonight.

I'll be back later to see what's happening!

Ashley

P.S. Hope and Quilter...stamping is soooo much fun. Let me know if you want some pointers on how to get started!! :o) I know Quilter has seen my stamping web site but if you're interested Hope (or anyone else) it's http://stampcreations.homestead.com You can get some good examples of the versatility of what you can do with rubber stamps!!

Ashley, I was curious about your web page. Your graphics here are so cute. Anyway, I did not find your page at stampcreations.homestead.com. It said there was no such site. I DID find Ashleys stamp page at http://homestead.com/stampcreations
It was a nice web site, but I could not maneuver to any of your pictures. Maybe I should have registered or something, but it would not let me do anything more than enter the first door. I then ended up at your site on geocities.com
Interesting, huh!

Good Sunday evening everyone :-) Since I haven't posted much in the past few weeks, I'm still getting used to this board. Where is the thing that shows us how to make various smilies? I've noticed there are new ones and they are so cute!

I'll say AMEN to VR, who said how gorgeous it is in No. CA today. Wow! Couldn't have been more perfect. I've got spring fever in a bad way. I was inspired to spend time out in the rabbitry today, cleaning cages, nestboxes, sweeping up etc. Sounds like a drudge, but unless I'm freezing cold, or roasting hot, I so enjoy spending my time out with the bunnies. It's my relaxation time. We have babies in the nestbox which makes it especially delightful.

Yesterday our family drove 3 hours up to the Sierra Nevada's towards Tahoe. We wanted to see a ranch that a friend of my mothers owns and may sell. Turned out to be not what we were looking for, but it was fun driving around checking things out. We'd love to move to a more country setting, but I can't endure lots of heat, and boy is it HOT up there in the summer! Ugh. Our climate is so perfect here, it's hard to leave. Anyway, it was an exhausing day because between the drive up and back, and all the driving around while up there, we were in the car for 11 hours. Ugh.

Yet another way I can identify with VR is with this WOE. Gosh, this past month has been just horrible. I haven't lost weight in 2 months. I'm obviously doing something wrong. I'm not cheating (well, I did once), but I think that I'm simply consuming too many calories, eating too much fat, and am not exercising, or being faithful with my water consumption. Even though I haven't been perfect, I feel that just with all of the sugary stuff and junk food that I've given up, that my results should be more apparent. I'M FRUSTRATED!! (Now, where is that angry smilie?!) My DH said he'd love to begin walking in the evenings now that the weather is nicer, so I'm without excuse ;-) Hopefully that will help. Actually I did try to start an exercise program 2 weeks ago . I bought Richard Simmons Broadway tape. Am I the only one with two left feet? Geez, there is no way I'd ever learn the routine he goes through. They are all moving so quickly and probably have had the advantage of learning it in stages. I tried just a couple of days then threw in the towel.

Overcome, I was an avid stamper for years and can attest to the fun of it all. Haven't stamped much in a couple of years, but have gotten more in to scrapbooking. A person can only own so many cards. I still have tons from my stamping days! I was especially a D.O.T.S. fan. Love all that cutsie stuff.

Gator, I've gotta say, your gator pics crack me up! I LOVE the one of the gator walking :-D

To everyone I wish a good SB week!
