This sounds like a useful thing to stay on track! Weighing in every day does nothing for my mental state considering all the annoying fluctuations!

I think I'll weigh in every Monday and see how that goes - might give more motivation to keep portions to a reasonable size on a Sunday!

Oh and, Sparkle101, welcome!

As far as I'm aware (correct me if I'm wrong people!) the aim of threads like this is for everyone to just post a weekly/daily/whatever report of their weigh in and a little about how they feel about that (good or bad!) so that others can offer congratulations / support in the hard times. It's a bit like a group blog?

So just weigh in when you want and post here for support :).

Right, so, weekly weigh in number 1: 154lbs

Had the most ridiculous binge last night which just made me feel stupid and took me right back to when it used to be much more regular thing.

The thing is, my parents took my brother back to university and were therefore out for the whole evening. Being left on my own in the house does tend to trigger a binge as my brain instantly goes "you could eat and nobody would be there to see you and comment / disapprove".

But I disapprove of myself! As soon as I "come down" from the frenzy I feel absolutely awful and start mentally punishing myself.

Anyway, enough of my ranting. I hope that weekly weigh in next week will have a more positive feel to it!

Hello everyone! I want to join!!
After succesfully losing weight in 2010-11, I have been maintianing do the most part. I was living in Germany and France so slowly, little by little I gained back a few pounds. Because I was either very busy or super lazy when I was not busy, I stopped to exercise.. So now I want to get back to it and maybe lose a few pounds along the way :)

Hello from Greece,

I have beeb browsing through the site for a week now trying to find the courage to post and ask for help. I weigh 67 kilos (148 pounds) and would like to lose 10 kilos (i.e. 20 pounds) and reach the goal of 125 pounds (57 kilos)
I would love to join the weekly challenge and lose at least 11 pounds (5 kilos) in a month or so as a mini goal
I am trying with low carbing and any advice would help!!!

I've been stuck at the same weight for a couple of weeks now and am going to try mixing things up by upping my calories slightly and joining the gym this week. My diet has been very inconsistent for the past 2 weeks, so I was incredibly relieved when I weighed myself today aaaaand:

Welcome Audacious! We're always hearing here about how healthy Greek/Mediterranean diets are, so maybe you can give us some tips! As far as low-carb tips, under the "Diet Central" section of the Forum is a thread devoted to low carb eating. :wel3fc: And welcome to the weigh-in thread.

Jynx, you're absolutely right - it's meant to be supportive as we see, week by week, those pounds melt away! Or ounces. Or maintain. Or heck, even if we gain :mad: . . . then we're commiserate with each other.

Yeah, I hear you about being "Home Alone". I do the same & get mad at myself :rollpin: for it!

Unfortunately not lost any this week. It's been a tough one full of doubt and frustration. Hopefully will do better this week. At least I haven't gained?

I'm going to start journaling how I feel each to to see if there is a pattern or anything. Anyone else find this useful?

I'd like to join this thread, what a great idea! For the time being, I'm going to try weighing myself once a week. This may change later on. I'm going to weigh myself on Sunday mornings. Here are my past weigh ins since the beginning of January, sorry they aren't once a week exactly.

1/1/14: 200 lbs
1/8/14: 197 lbs
1/19/14: 195 lbs

I've lost 5 lbs so far this month and am fairly happy with that. The past week was difficult and I lost 2 lbs in 11 days. Not the best, but I most definitely would not qualify it as bad. Monday was a good day, hoping for a good week!

I haven't done this yet...

I started replacing 1-2 meals with my Mean Green High Energy Machine Protein Shake every day for about 3 weeks. I haven't been perfect with eating and I've exercised once but I lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks.

2 scoops nature's bounty complete protein - chocolate
vitacost whole food shake - vanilla
1 tsp vitacost spirulina powder
1 tsp healthworks organic raw maca powder
2 vitacost acai berry capsules - I open them up and pour the powder in
2 cups soy milk
1 cup water
2 tbs peanut butter

Jan 1st I was 290
Jan 22nd 277

13lb loss I'm gonna check in every week now.

I lost 2 pounds this week. There's a chance I'm at 190, my scale kept saying 190 over and over, but based on what I ate this week, losing 3 pounds seemed unlikely. I tried weighing myself holding different heavy items, then putting the objects down and it kept saying 190. Then I had my husband step on the scale, weighed myself again, and it said 191. 191 is what I'm going with :)

I've been sick last week so I didn't eat, and went out to have an awesome salad that probably had a few more calories/carbs than it should and so it goes. I think I was getting my hopes too high. But I'm still making progress and hopefully next week I'm down to 190 or out of it. :broc:

Hey all, I base my weight loss on the lowest number of the scale [matter is neither created nor destroyed but transferred from one energy state to another] so I know a loss is a real loss, but a gain can be from anything.

well, I get so excited when I see a new low. today's was 210.0

something interesting about it..three days ago I weighed 215.8. Then the next day I woke up at 212.8, the next day woke up at 213.0 I went about my normal business but was exhausted and took a long nap...woke up from the nap and just felt different...211.6? I lost a pound during the day? I ate dinner and went to bed...and woke up at 210 today.

so happy dance. I may make my goal to see 209 by the end of February. If not, I will keep keeping on.

looney1312 - trust me I feel your pain. My first week was good but then the weight loss slowed down to turtle speed by week two. It's been driving me NUTS! Maybe I watch too many reality weight loss shows and I want the big numbers each week too :(

I'd like to join this. Especially because when I eat a lot of food I get nervous to get on the scale so maybe this will force me to. I have some questions though. How do I come back to find this post next week when it's not new anymore? Do I have to subscribe to it? And if I subscribe to it how do I find my subscriptions when I log in?
Jynx- I totally understand. I am dog sitting right now for a family, so I am staying at their house alone, and of course they offered me to have anything I want! It's rough. (How do I direct what I just said towards Jynx because I don't think I did that correctly.)

I am so happy to find this thread! I just joined and was beginning to think I was the only one who doesn't weigh daily. I weigh weekly "officially" on Friday mornings but will sometimes weigh a few more times if I'm feeling thin lol I'm doing 5:2 so my weight loss is slow and easier to see over a week. My first mini goal is to get under 200 which i am getting so close to! Anyway, I'll make this my place to post every Friday!

Hey mountain mama, just saw your post! I started working out in Jan. 2013 and watching my diet, and I began 5:2 in August and have been gradually increasing my workouts. Since starting 5:2 I've been losing on average one pound a week since (gained a bit over the holidays!). I'm not really sure what's happened these past few weeks, but my loss has been REALLY awesome, almost 8 pounds this month. I am thrilled.

All of u ladies r doing a great job! Keep up the great work! All of my life I've been skinny. I weighed btwn 106-120lbs. I gave weight while being pregnant, but lost it fairly quick afterward. In 2002 my dr put me on a med that made me constantly hungry. It caused me to gain 60lbs in 8mons. I felt horrible about the way I looked n when other ppl said things to me sbout my weight gain. I grew out of all of my clothes. I had my daughter in 2004 n then weighed 175lbs after. I had my son in 2007 n weighed 175lbs after. I moved to a small town in Michigan in 2002 n the ppl made fun of my weight. Feeling so bad I just gsined more. I moved back to Florida in 2009. Btwn 2007-2012 I got to 220lbs. In just a month that summer I went from 213 to 220lbs. I was horrified at what I saw in the mirror. Bc of another med I was on it caused me insomnia. So my dr put me on a med to help me w sleep n anxiety. It caused me to lose my appetite, but it also helped my anxiety n depression. Didn't help me w the insomnia though. My dr kept me on it for what it was helping me w n raised my dose. The loss of appetite lasted a yr. I lost weight very quickly n was healthy. I made sure I at least ate something at least once a day even if I wasn't hungry. Now I have a small, but ok appetite. Over the past 20mons I've lost around 5lbs a mon, sometimes more n sometimes less. I now weigh 134lbs. My goal is 120lbs. I use this goal bc I based it off the BMI chart n it says the healthiest weight for me is 120lbs. I've got 14lbs to go. Any of u struggling out there, u can do it. I've been there. I tried dieting n failed bc I felt hungry all the time. Now I don't. I also have changed to eating very healthy food. No more fast food, junk food, buffets, etc. That's a once in a great while treat. Strange that some meds we r put on make us gain or lose weight as side effects. It was the cause of my gain n weight loss. I stopped taking the med that made me gain when I gained 60lbs. Then I couldn't take it off n kept gaining bc I was depression eating. I also believe the med I'm on now keeps me from depression eating bc it controls the depression I had n my anxiety. I wish u all the best of luck. The best advice I can give now is don't give up. I gave up for 10yrs. Now w determination I'll be at my goal weight by my 2yr weight loss journey. My goal is 100lbs n I'm 14lbs away. I'm so proud. I love the compliments I get from everyone now. It makes me feel even better n makes me stay on track. The worst part of that 10yrs was when grown adults made fun of me for being overweight, calling me fat n rude names n laughing for no reason. Also the encouragement I got when I moved back to Florida helped even though I still gained for 3 more yrs. I have great friends, great kids, n a great man that I met in 2011 that love me no matter what I weigh. They mean the most to me bc of their loving support.
