Chicks up for a Challenge - Goal for 12/31/14, what are you shooting for?

I would like to do a yearly goal challenge... It is open to anything that you wish to accomplish for this 1 year period... Or from when you decide to start and to end 12/31/14. Keep track as often as you wish. No rules. Daily, weekly, monthly or just 1/1 AND 12/31 :) What ever you wish!


I am planning on losing 67 lbs this year. That is 5.5 lbs a month. Sounds reasonable. Tho 3 months last year I only lost 4 lbs. So if I lose more upfront I can have those "holiday" months LOL Well Maybe not! I will post a weekly weight and a total monthly loss

Hey Sue!!! I think I will try to weigh here on the 1st of every month. I am starting at 244.6 and I want to get to 190. That is an average of barely over a pound a week. If I manage to hit that early I will recalculate based on how much time is left. I do measurements on the first sunday of the month so I will post those too on Sunday the 5th

I'm really hoping to get into maintenance by this time next year....where ever that ends up being. I originally thought I'd be happy at 77kg then I thought 73 then 72 now I'm thinking 70 though I haven't even hit 72 or 73 yet!!! I'm hoping this will help me stay on track during 2014. There's going to be long stretches of time where I'll be travelling and won't have access to a scale but for now I'm going to set it up as a weekly weigh in.

Looks like there's a couple of us here that are hoping 2014 is the year we get into maintenance, hopefully this will help us stay on track.

wannaskipandlaugh thanks for organizing this, I know I'll definitely need it. I do travel quite a bit as I currently live in S.Korea so whenever there's a short holiday I leave. However this is the year I'm finally getting out of here and at the end I'll be travelling for 2 months straight which I've never done. And parts of it will be on the Trans-siberian railway where my only form of exercise may be walking up and down the train! I haven't heard great things about the healthy options available to eat either. Oh well. I'm hoping to get lower than I need/want before I go so gaining won't be as much of a problem. Who knows if that'll work.

My weight's been yo-yoing this week (I think sodium is to blame) so I'm hoping for the best for tomorrow's weigh-in.

My health/fitness goals for 2014:
1. Lose the last 15 pounds or so
2. Try to lose the ab-flab...I don't need a 6-pack, but this is where I hold most of my fat, so I think if I get the 15 pounds off, my abs will naturally flatten a little!
3. Gym 5-6 days a week without fail (not only for health, but mental health, it really curbs the depression/anxiety)
4. Sculpt my legs and arms...through weight training and yoga

Other goals are to cut down on spending, save for a down payment, find new ways to make healthier meals and spend more time cuddling my pets and my bf ;)

You're so right...in the past if I didn't meet my goals, I pretty much gave up for months. Great attitude :) I just got back on the wagon myself after hovering with 15 pounds to lose since last summer...it's going to happen this year though, no giving up! :)

Hi, I have a short term goal first. I am going to Nebraska April 11th to visit 2 of my 4 daughters that moved there because rent is substantially less than Calif. They each have 3 children that I miss very much. My goal for this trip depends on my sticking to atkins, and losing 2 pounds a weeks. So I would like to lose 25 pounds from today's weight so 230 by April 11. After that I would like to get under 200 by July 1. My next goal would be to get to 185 by my birthday September 27. Finally I would like to get to 165 by Thanksgiving. I anticipate adding exercise so that I can keep losing 2 pounds a week throughout.

I am ending January with a nice loss (for me as it is normally only 4-5 lbs) So that is an accomplishment! Have 3 more days of weigh ins and hoping for a minor woosh! :) 237.0 today

I hope everyone had a good January loss or made your goal that you wanted for the month! Just think you are closer to your end of the year goal! Hooray!!!!

I don't know how I missed this thread, but I'm glad to have found it. My goal for 12/31/2014 is to lose a hundred pounds. To me, that sounds like a crazy unattainable number, but what I'm doing is breaking it up into monthly goals. So for January, my goal is 8.4 lbs (which I've surpassed, yay!)

Since it's so close to the end of the month, I'll post my progress on the 31st.

I did not do as great as I hoped, but I think this month helped me refocus. Can't wait for warmer weather so I can start exercising outside again. I do so much better with exercise when I can do it outdoors. :)

MARA.. you are doing great... you are sooooooo close to the 230's Shoot you might already be there RIGHT NOW! :D I too had to recommit as those holidays in Oct, Nov and Dec just did me in as I felt I could go back and still be okay.. NOT... well I added and lost the same weight and no forward movement. It is nice to have a "Fresh" start every year! I know you will fly thru the 230's just like me! I BETCHA!!!

I just got back from my vacation and I am scared to hop back on the scale. I'm going to wait until Thursday so hopefully the only gain I see is real and any water weight will be gone. I know I gained quite a bit as the pants I took to wear to and from the airport were A LOT tighter coming home. I learned a couple things for sure as the vacation went on. I overate the pain multiple times the first week (damn buffets) but got much better as the vacation went on. I realized I don't need to eat everything that's on my plate, whether I pick it or it's served. I got much better at eating only half the amount of rice given to me. I know I still have a lot of work to do before I leave on my 2+ month trip in May but hopefully I can use this trip as a learning experience. I'm also really glad it's at the beginning of the year so I've got 11 months to make up for it!

Mara- my vacation was great, thanks. I went to Borneo and Bali and the warm weather alone was worth it.

I weighed in this morning, after being off the plane for a week and the news ain't great, up 3 kilos/6.6 pounds. I'm really not surprised it just means I'm going to have to work a bit harder than I had been recently. I've got 13 weeks until I leave Korea and I'd like to lose about 13 pounds before then. Definitely doable, but I'll have to be more diligent as I was averaging 0.5 lb/week before I left.

I have set a very aggressive goal for myself to try and lose 100 pounds this year. If I don't reach it, that's okay, but I'm surely going to try.

I have a wedding to attend in May where the bridesmaid dress has already been ordered and I am at least 30 pounds overweight for it. I have some serious work to do. Also, I'm moving to Virginia at the end of the year so I'll be starting over...new job, new place, etc. I'd rather not have to worry about weight when that day comes.

After being back for about 2 weeks now my weight is finally leveling off, I've weighed in the same the last 3 days so I think I'm officially at my post-vacation weight. I'm 2 kilos/4.4 pounds up from before vacation which I guess is better than 3 kgs. I've been sticking to a much stricter diet than I had in probably the last 6-8 months so I'm hoping to get rid of it in about a month. As long as my weight keeps going down I'll be happy.

Kinda late here.. have been on a vacation since Jan... Just getting back to the usual routine... I lost close to 11 lbs last year starting sometime in September but got off the wagon starting thanksgiving followed by the holiday season... (which means I was serious abt it only for 3 months last year which i the first mistake I made :( )

I am hoping to be done with my weight loss. I am hoping to drop the rest 35+ pounds this year.

I've been away from the website for a bit. Having too many weeks off this early in the year hasn't been great for staying motivated. I've got no more time off until I leave Korea in just over two months so I have no excuses. I'm just less than 2 kilos heavier than my low weight pre-January vacation so my short term goal is to get back there.

Everyone seems to be doing great, I hope some of it rubs off on me!! Darius 1.1 pounds is still 1.1 pounds in the right direction. You've done amazing so far this year and unfortunately there'll be some small weeks mixed in with the big ones!

wanna - thank you! lol! 7 of those pounds came from a stomach virus but I've been on plan 100% of the time otherwise. I've been pulling every trick out of the bag, switching things up constantly at the smell of a plateau lol. It's been working and I couldn't be more pleased. It HAS to work because I have 2 months left to fit into a bridesmaids dress lol.

I have never posted or belonged to a forum before, I am brand new.
On Feb 26, 2014 I decided to try a new way of losing weight and getting healthy.
SW: 264.8 lbs
CW: 245 1bs
Goal Weight for year end: 140 lbs
I don't know if this is realistic, time will tell.
I haven't looked around the forum much yet, but hope to find some cheaper alternatives to this PQ diet I am using.

Hi! New here. I had a very slow loss last year when I started this, so I made a goal to get to 179 by years end. This would take me out of the obese range (can't remember the last time my weight was that low), so 37 pounds, less than 1lb/week. So far I'm on track (doesnt seem that way here but ive had a good loss in march). I weigh on fridays so my numbers aren't usually the very first of the month.

Jan. 6: 216
Feb. 7: 212 (-4 pounds)
March 7: 211 (-1 pound, total -5 pounds)

I am recommitting to my journey, after taking 6-8 weeks off. At least I was maintaining :)

My one year anniversary of weight loss is on the 28th; I have lost 25 pounds. I was hoping to be at goal by now, but the 25 pounds is still making me happy.

I am taking it slow; 1/2-1 pound per week. Some weeks I lose, some weeks I don't.

Now that I found my mojo, I expect to drop 5 pounds pretty quickly --as long as my body starts co-operating; I have been OP for a week and I have gained a pound :dizzy:. I am due a nice whoosh any day now.

I would love to lose enough to be at my pre-pregnancy weight again. I lost the weight after having my daughter almost 4 yrs ago but gained it back. So, My goal would be 173 which would be a 37 lb loss.....yikes, before doing the math I thought it was much less than that, lol!

Days, weeks and now what feels like months are being wasted... :( No more! I want to get to goal this year and I need to work harder.

It is easier now that weather is starting to co-operate. (70F and sunny; yeah, baby!) I am craving to fit into smaller shorts and dresses. I still have a few months before summer gets here; I WILL fit into my 6's I bought for the summer! :D

How is everyone doing? I am finally almost back in line with my goal and now need to lose 6.0 lbs a month to make my goal. I had hoped for a cushion of extra lbs here in the spring after the winter holidays.. so ...looks like I need to tweak my way of eating this summer (doing Atkins Induction a week a month) so that I can have a cushion to make it thru the late fall/winter holidays! I think I would like to come join a long term challenge. I am late to the party, but I can do 7 months! :) I weigh on Fridays! and I would love to see 250 (70 pounds lost, 10 pounds a month) by the end of the year. That's a bit ambitious, so realistically, with holidays and moving (possibly twice), I'm hoping to get to 270, so 50 pounds lost, by the end of December. I like to set a base goal, then an "ambitious" goal to reach for if I do better than I thought I would.

I am hoping I reach my year's mini-goal early...in fact, my 10 year high school reunion is in October, and I'd love to be at 180 by then. But I won't officially adjust the goal until I get closer. We'll see how June goes :P

I'm hoping by the end of the year, I am at 120 lbs. Which I guess for me is a vague number since my goal is pretty much just an image of what I want to look like. I want my stomach to fit into medium shirts without bulging out or my stomach hanging over my pants. I want my calves to fit inside boots for winter. I want my thighs to stop smack together. I want my butt to be a bit more toned. And I want my upper arms to be slimmer.

Sometimes I wish I could just use the lowest no that I reached for the week after the last weigh in.. sigh... I am up 1.4 from my lowest last week... Oh well.. it is still a loss week to week and that is what counts!

Well, I'm down 3 total pounds since June/24. I would have liked to be down more, but I didn't put in the level of effort I should have. I hope to bring more focus to bear in August. I have no travel planned, no company coming, no distractions in the way. I should make August a month to really focus on myself and reinforce good habits.

I need to lose 29 more pounds to reach my goal for the year, eek!

I know I'm a little late but I'm a challenge junkie! I (re)started on 8/4/14 at 281.4 and I am currently (9/10/14) at 261.8, as of this morning.

I am hoping to be at 235 by Christmas. That's -26.8 lbs in about 15 weeks. I may not can do it but I'm sure gonna try!

I had a slight gain in September. The first half of the month and most of August were a plateau - I was doing the right things (I think!), but the weight wasn't moving. The last two weeks of the month I did a maintenance break, so hopefully that will kick-start my October. I want to get out of the 180s!
