Thanks Lulu for starting the thread!

Sadly I did not see a lower number for the New Year, I had forgotten til last night I promised hubby I would cook the carb filled deliciousness that came in the Omaha steaks package from my mom. with it we had alcohol.

The scale is not happy with me this morning. So I am using yesterday's weigh in as my official SW for Jan for now

Good morning everyone. Happy New Year.

This week is my seventh week of lowcarbing. I went down to 153, but as of this morning I am back up to 155. Hopefully I shall lose these two pounds fast. So I am keeping 153 as my starting weight. If I lose 1 pound a week I will be at 148 by Valentine's Day. Hopefully I shall make it there, but leaving 150s makes me happy too, lol.

1.7.7 - Heading in the right direction!! Yeah!! As many of you know I'm old school and I went shopping for jeans because Walmart doesn't have any more sizes for me. I shopped at the Levi's outlet store and bypassed the women's jeans because I don't like spandex in jeans or the tighter fit. My NSV was 38s and 36s that were too big/loose and a pair of 34s that are my near term stretch goal pants!! Very surprising for me!! The attendant didn't understand why I had to try on so many jeans but the reality is I didn't know my real size - well now I do!

lulu I am trying! The problem is when I give in it makes it harder to get back on track then I just get upset I gave in at all lol for example, we ordered pizza for lunch yesterday, I got low carb toppings, a garlic butter based sauce, and ate the cheese and toppings only and left the crust. Than a couple hours later I went into the kitchen for a drink and ate a couple slices of the crust because it was there and was tempting me... lesson learned is throw directly into trash and not leave box on stove. but had I not been craving bread from cheating the day before it likely wouldn't have tempted me...... yay for the jeans NSV :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot: when I hit 220 last time I went to a store and freaked the attendent out, I started trying on clothes, after going back 3 times for a smaller size I just started bawling (happiness) and she flipped out with concern. It took me like 5 minutes of assuring her that I was ok, just happy before she calmed back down.

Sarah you GOT this too!!! Holiday creep likes coming off fast sometimes, it knows it is unwanted and we scare it away with our knowledge of how to get rid of it.

My water is starting to come back off, hopefully it cooperates. The goal I have set for Valentines in a different thread is 6-9 lbs for an avg of 1-1.5 lbs a week. Which will put me between 238.6 and 235.6. Lower is better :)

Goal for challenge: 320
Other goal for the challenge: Stick to low carb plan, begin exercise of some type (large challenge for me).

Exercised yesterday (walked 3 miles and did upper body weight training). I ate too much, low carb but too much.
SW: 1/1 - 240

I found an idea for low carb and liked it: the egg/meat/cheese/veggies in muffin tins, baked and - voila - yummy breakfast and/or snack.
WEEKEND MUST DO: plan and cook most meals for the week (grill chicken breasts, sautee veggies, measure and cut veggies, etc) I must have things done when I get home to avoid eating BAD STUFF.
ANOTHER GOAL: take my daily vitamins.
SOMETHING NEW: I started drinking Bragg's organic apple cider vinegar (2 tablespoons in cold water). It is supposed to have lots of health benefits. One thing - brush your teeth right after to avoid the acidic wear on your teeth.
jbwiklanski - great goals. I like walking while watching a show I like. I wish I had a buddy to walk with on a daily basis. That is not possible in the winter though. So, treadmill it is. Best of luck to you!
pnkrckpixikat - I know exactly what you mean about totally falling off the wagon just because of one bad choice. I have done that so many times in the past!
We just have to try really hard to stick with it and if we make a mistake, we need to accept it as a ONE TIME mistake and get back on it.
sarahinparis - we can do this! I also have a lofty goal, but like you and others said, it comes off easier in the beginning.
smith1313 - great progress already! Keep it up!
wannaskipandlaugh - your body will eliminate the salt and the leftovers are now gone :)
rachelearth - wishing you best of luck! God help me and all of us, your starting point is my final goal! :)
Lulu - WOW! Good for you Lady! How awesome to realize how much smaller you are and how your hard work is paying off. You are an inspiration! I already made a mental note, when I slow down or hit a plateau, to always remember your positive attitude and determination to stick with the program.

Hey guys! I just joined this site today and am starting Atkins today also....actually I've spent today reading and researching, tomorrow is my first day of "doing" it. I need a short term goal and this Valentine's Day challenge seems perfect. My official starting weight as of this morning is 193.6 and I'm going to set a 12 lb goal. I hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment but I know you tend to lose more right at first. Good luck to everyone!!

Nothing new to report - holding at 177!! Baby girl home for 2nd day - winter storm! Negative 14 degrees expected for tonight!!

Futurehealthyme - Portions are my Achilles!! I like to bake egg recipes too!! But I use a Pyrex bread pan and calculate portions! I love using Jimmy Dean sausage because of the flavor!!! Love Atkins for this!!!

Making lamb curry and fauxtato salad for the weekend!! My own special comfort food during this cold spell!! Wishing everyone an on plan day!! And downdowndown!

navymommy awww those are adorable ages. not too much attitude yet typically. And your body is probably just adjusting. stay on track and it has to give in eventually

I did well yestrday, I think, we went out for dinner and I double checked how they prepared a couple things so in theory I was on track. I had crab stuffed flounder with asparagus and spinach cheese dip with celery instead of chips. I seem to be still flushing off the water. Hopefully when it is done I see a new low :)

Holding at 1.7.7 - I'm challenged with a psoriatic arthritis flare and took extra prednisone last night so I'm not expecting any downdowndown for a bit! Not supposed to go back to the dr until March but I'm calling on Monday to try to get myself straightened out!! No pity party here - it is what it is!

On the bright side - can I just say I love fauxtato salad!! And the warmth of the woodstove!! Negative 13 this morning!! Yikes!!

JB - Congrats on surviving!! TOM seems to always cause issues but I usually have my best downs after!! For me Atkins always seems to get easier after the first few weeks - one choice at a time!!

YAY!! Just what I need!!

I was within one pound of my first mini goal and ahead of schedule. I decided to give myself Christmas through New Years as a break. I ate carbs and sugar but tried to keep my portions small. I felt horrible! tired, cranky, skin broke out and got blotchy, started craving sugar like crazy!! Worst of all I put on 3 pounds!!!

So happy to be back at it and I am looking forward to this challenge!!

Sue I'm jealous of your walks!! I love to walk outside!! So happy for you!!

Navymom - making me laugh "going to the gym to make some fat cry"!! There is someone on this forum that says something like "I wear black when I workout because it's a funeral for my fat!"

Holding at 177 but I feel a down coming - I'm sure it is just around the corner even with extra prednisone on board!! I worked out yesterday and will again today. I think I have only missed 3 days in the past month. Yesterday was slow going but I still did it and I am proud of myself for that!! The elliptical has been worth it as I never left the house yesterday and don't think I will today either!!

Looking forward to marinated steak tips for dinner tonight!! My family will have baked potatoes but Ill have fauxtato salad and a tomato!!

Best wishes for an on plan day - take it one choice at a time and be kind to yourself!!

Sue you called it, the rest of my New Years weight wooshed off last night, and I was still feeling puffy this morning from extra water so maybe more will whoosh off tonight and I will see my Christmas eve weight tomorrow! That would be nice since I have written that 1.5 off as a gain from festivities lol

lulu I wish I had an elliptical, I would never have a good excuse for skipping a workout as I could at least get in some cardio while watching tv. I have nowhere it would fit in our apartment tho lol

I love the saying "Sweat is your fat crying" so I use that a lot for motivation when I'm worn out and feeling like stopping my workout :)

Today I weighed in at 177 :) Heading in the right direction! I can finally tell I'm in Ketosis, and I love it. My cravings and hunger are gone and I feel so much better.

I'm up today at 179 but I just think it is a fluctuation of the scale, water retention, etc. So I just have to ride it out....

Looks like freezing rain this morning up here - sand trucks just went by- ugh for driving today!!

Working out shortly - added a few crunches to work on my loose gut - I am very jiggly....and not in a good way!! HA!! I did notice that my bat wings are starting to change so there is hope!! I read some where that it takes about a year after goal for your body to "settle" - has anyone read anything about that??

Have an on-plan day and downdowndown!!

I have beeb browsing through the site for a week now trying to find the courage to post and ask for help. I weigh 67 kilos (148 pounds) and would like to lose 10 kilos (i.e. 20 pounds) and reach the goal of 125 pounds (57 kilos)
I would love to join the Valentine challenge and lose at least 11 pounds (5 kilos) until then.
I am trying with low carbing and any advice would help!!!

Thank you Lulu It is my Atkins 1 year anniversary! :) WWEEEEE well.. 76.4 total lbs off.. (yesterday's number was better)... But I am so glad to be here then where I was last year!!!!!! Thank you so much Lulu! (there are 2 other people who started their weight loss (not Atkins) journey on this day last year too... Brain cells are not firing this morning to remember who they are... SHOOT.

:welcome2: Audacious! Glad to have you join us! :) You are very very welcome to join us! Post all you want! Let us know what you are eating or not. Biggest thing is to stay away from sugar, flour, pasta etc... I don't know if you are doing Atkins (not required to be part of this challenge).. But let us know what kind of plan you are following! STARTING is the biggest hurdle.. You did that and now you are on your journey! woohoo!!! :)

Walked every day but 2 days ago I had grapes and was back up where I started from. Well, 1.5 down and staying away from high carb fruit or any fruit for a while, like the plan says.

Sue, JB, Futurehealthyme, Smith - Congrats on the down - trying very hard to get there myself!!

Down to 178 this morning so that is a good thing!!

One year on Atkins today!! One year and almost 50 pounds later - I think the time involved in changing my lifestyle will help me in the long run. Patience is a virtue!! HA! (The reality is I want to be there now!!) During this new year I plan to get to goal and become a weight maintenance success story!!

Wannaskipandlaugh (Sue) I really can't thank you enough for all of your support the past year!! Like I've said before picking me up, dusting me off and sending me back on my journey!! Thank you so much!!

good morning!!!

Ihave swung upwards again. I am not sure if it is from eating out or from having a higher carb count a couple days ago. Net was under 30 but total was at 62 :s IDK hopefully it goes away soon. Trying to be patient but mostly just getting pouty lol

Just occured to me: Because I am getting up early to go workout before work I probably weighed in a good 2 hours before I have been weighing in all break since I could sleep in... that may be some of the difference too.

1.7.6 today!! Yeah! Being strict on carbs and calories because I am so afraid of prednisone bloat!! Traveling today so I can't weigh tomorrow AM! Next weigh in is on Friday!! At 173 I will be back to where I was before Christmas!! Seems likes long recovery but I wasn't really careful for an entire week!! Hoping everyone has an on-plan day!! I am thankful for this success because 178 is my lowest adult weight(first time on Atkins)and it haunts me that I will either stay in the 170s or fall off the wagon!!

Lulu... its frustrating to re-lose the same lbs over and over again.... Its a challenge of our internal fortitude. Sometimes we are not strong enough.... but most of the time we are strong and resilient. Read your words on the Positive Message board (I am so glad we have this!) it reminds me all the time of what my mission is and it gives me strength! I just know you are going to do this... Went up a pound today, not too worried because I'm still down from where I started. My goal is 320 and I have plenty of time to get there. I have discovered an amazing desert...sugar free pudding and heavy whipping cream, amazing. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Hey everyone!
I am a student struggling to be on the track of living a healthy, long life. In particular, I want to lose as much fat as possible, because I am having a surgery for a hernia in May. So for this Valentines challenge, I would like to have a "goal weight" and a "super goal weight". If I meet the "super goal weight", then I can treat myself to buying some clothes or shoes(despite being a poor student with loans). It will definitely be an incentive. And I promise that I won't try to lose in an unhealthy manner.

sue I am fairly certain they do. I remember one of mine being around 224-225, and I vaugely remember one being at 264-65 my first time through, and I remember commenting with someone else that they seem to happen every 20lbs so I just BET that is what I am struggling with right now. It is just frustrating cause I know other people on Atkins and they are like "OMG a month in and I have lost 17 lbs!" and I'm all "I am dancing with the same 4 d***it!" lol I better see a nich whoosh when my body gives in lol

Pixikat - Sue has seen me through some horrible plateaus!!(plateau is a 4-letter word). Two that stick out are around 203 trying to get to Onederland and at 193. Don't worry about other people's losses and try to compare - it just doesn't work that way. Can't take credit for this one but someone wrote "It takes as long as it takes!" I think the patience and willpower we earn and learn along the way add to our journey!! Keep up the good work!!

I can't help it, I am such a scale hopper!! But I am soooo very happy to report that the 3 pounds of holiday water weight is gone and another one on top of that!!! YAY!!!

In October I had set a mini goal to be 178 by February and I have reached it! Even though that was heavier than I had been or really want to be, it was the weight I was when I met my boyfriend, February, 4 years ago. He has seen me through multiple reconstructive surgeries on my ankle/knee, a diabetes diagnoses and a cancer scare. He has been so wonderful to me through all my troubles, I am so happy to be getting back to the strong healthy woman he fell in love with!!

Thank you, to all of you, for your words of encouragement and helpful information! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!

Since that goal has come and gone ... and we will be going on vacation soon ... I will realistically be shooting for 175 by Valentines Day.

Like I've mentioned before I'm old school - throw me back to the 70s and 80s - it turns out Walmart does have jeans that I like in my size - they are in the men's department!! HA! I bought a pair of Dickies carpenter jeans W34 L30 yesterday... I can get them on and button them up but have a slight muffin top....so like the Levi's I bought last week they are a stretch goal pant - no spandex!! I am wearing all of my other stretch goal pants now that I saved from 10 years ago. I'm thinking that at 160 my waist will not be smaller than the 34s I have...I think that will be my size will be 14 maybe a 12 but I shy away from form fitting clothes.

YEP Lulu.. PLATEAU/STALL is a 4 letter word! :lol: But don't we all experience it! Its just a wait station for our weight! While our bodies gather for another assult on the fat storage! hhhmmmmm An idea for a thread..... New terminology for stalling. LOL and WOOHOO on the pants ( I like non stretch denim too!) those Guys pants will button. I think that the woman's sizes are based on hips and chest more so the waist (Guys). I miss the good ole Painters Pants from OshGosh BGosh.. I loved wearing those in Highschool. Baggy legs, tight waist, but my arse looked good in them.

JB.. you are going to surpass your goal I bet this week! :) OOOO I love seeing results like that. It reminds me that it can be done!

RDexter - sometimes you don't see big losses just steady losses over a long period of time. I average about a pound a week but some weeks nothing goes and some weeks it seems 3 pounds go. I have a "frustrating" relationship with the scale! Like my husband, it never tells me what I want to hear!! HA!! (Just kidding) but knowing my weight keeps me directed toward my goal...a lot of people take measurements as another gauge and I really wish I had some good posed before pictures to compare to where I am today.

I've been messing around with carbs and my scale is definitely reflecting it at 152.8 this morning. I'd like to join in this challenge to help me remember that I'm committing to low carb "again". I've been a member here since 1999 but recently got a new user name. Low carb got my weight off so now I'm back for my tune up. I'm a slow slow loser even with under 25 carbs. Thanks for letting me join you!

Yahoo!! 172!! 6 pounds less than my lowest adult weight!!!! Did I ever tell you that 160(my realistic goal weight) is the weight I was in 10th grade before I ever started dieting? I really feel stupid for ever starting to "diet" in the first place - all these years and all the anguish!! 160 at 5-6 is about 7-8 pounds overweight - not a big deal at all - honestly what was I thinking? Reality check!!

Hi ladies! I don't know if some of you remember me I have been gone for a long time but I plan this time to be back for good :) I started this again on the 13th officially unofficially on the 10th ( i needed a few days to gear up and clean out my house lol) I would like to join you too if thats ok.... my start weight is 217 sadly the highest I have been with out a baby growing inside me. My current weight is 212. good luck to everyone!! I would like to lose 10-15 lbs by valentines but I know it will slow down after these first few weeks.

Thank you all for your welcome! I'm quite inspired by all the hard work happening here. I had great resolve yesterday until the work breakfast. Then I literally tossed my resolve aside for a wheat product and I try so hard not to eat wheat. I was not expecting boss to walk in with breakfast.

At least I was ble to organize lunch for the 8 of us from a cafe next door. I had a burger, no bun with salad no fries. So I felt better about it.

The left over wheat victims are in my office. I get there first and will take them down to the street guys.

It's a new day and I won't let this slow start derail me.

Lulu, you're so close to your goal! How many years since you've been there? Yay so close!

Calee - I celebrated my 1 year Atkins anniversary on January 7th - but I didn't sign up for this forum until a month later - I was a virtual stalker for a little bit until I got the nerve up to start posting! Sue celebrated her 1 year on Jan 6. (Right? Sue..) (this is my second time around - I lost really fast about 10 years ago but fell off track....but now I'm back for good)(How many year since I've been at goal? Answer: my entire adult life...)

Thank you so much sue!! You are doing great! Good morning everyone. In the first week for me I always weigh daily then I go to every week after that just gets me motivated to see the scale moving water or not lol. Today I was down to 211.2! Moving in the right direction and not going up at all so that makes me happy!! So that's 6lbs so far. Hoping this next week brings the same changes then I will be so busy when school starts again I am hoping I will just keep my mind off the scale because I know it will probably slow down soon but of course still eating healthy! I am in my finale semester of nursing school and will be graduating in may with my associates degree that is 30 weeks from now. My goal is to lose 60lbs by then which is 2 a week and I feel that is a healthy rate to lose at. Any loss will be fine with me though as long as it keeps going in that direction :) Now that I am starting to get over the induction flu that seems to hit me so hard day 3 and 4 I am hoping to incorporate more exercise! I hope you all have a great day!!

Haven't been able to check in, crazy work week, so glad it's over!

Another pound gone and still feeling confident and encouraged, which is sometimes a harder thing for me than eating right!

Had one very off day, thanks to the folks at McDonalds. I was in a rush and hit the drive through. Ordered a salad with grilled chicken but got crispy chicken instead. Didn't realize until I was already back at work and had only a few minutes to eat. I was starving, didn't have any snacks with me so I ate it. I checked the nutritional info later ... it was more than double the carbs than I usually eat in a meal! Being insulin resistant and very used to eating low carb my body was NOT HAPPY!! and all I could think about was the consequences: I was probably out of ketosis and how long was it going to take to get back in!

I have great support at home though, and of course you folks, which helps.

Last week my boyfriend brought home an low carb/IP recipe he thought I would like from his chiropractors office (they do IP in the same office, so they have recipes in the waiting room) This week he gave me a gift certificate for his chiropractor! He is probably just sick of me complaining about my sore back, lol, but sweet just the same!

Well 210 on my official weigh in day and good day to do it because AF stopped by and I am not going to want to for the rest of the week lol. Nothing like her coming in the second full week of induction :( but alas at least it answers the questions of why I have been having such intense cravings the last couple days, but she wont break me :P. Big big congrats on the anniversary celebrations here.

I have been predominantly low carb since 1999 with a few years of raw vegan thrown in. I remember when this website had very few members.

After my weigh in at WW yesterday morning I decided that I had to really commit to eating low carb again. I've been a lifetime member since 2011. So yesterday was my first fully committed day back.

Good morning everyone.

I hope that you all are doing great and your successes rub on me too, lol. Unfortunately I have to say that I am on plateau. I keep losing and gaining the same pound around 153. It has been over two weeks now. I have seen 152 a few times, but it does not stuck around, lol. I guess I need to keep myself motivated and not let discouragement take over. Reading your posts here helps a lot and I keep reminding myself that if I hang in there *eventually* I will a smaller number, lol. I am hoping this eventually comes sooner rather than later, lol.

Anyhow, I was also visiting the IP board to read more posts and prevent myself from being too discouraged when I saw that someone has posted this video of Robert Lustig and people at UCSF talk about sugar and obesity. I don't think there is much new that we have not heard before, but still it was good to hear again how bad sugar is for our body. When I am discouraged like now I like to hear again how reasonable low carb lifestyle is for our body, to hopefully stay strong and see scale show smaller number, lol. Anyhow, here is the link

I found this thread and while I am at a very late start I would like to join. The name is what drew me, love yourself. I have spent months abusing myself with food, binge eating and watching the scales go up and down over and over along with my emotions. I don't plan on losing that much but I would like to somehow stick to healthy eating, no over eating, and no binging, from now til Valentine's day. I would like to drop 5 lbs if that is possible, but unsure. I haven't stepped on the scale in weeks, will do so in the morning to try to get an accurate reading. Last I knew I was at 180, which is the highest I have been in years.

I have been eating OP I think. I haven't been tracking really but sticking with low carb foods. Even with that I think that my carbs may have crept up slightly. I also made a hot water, lemon, honey, and salt gurgle for my throat and swallowed some accidentally. (tastes horrible but all ingredients are antibacterial and really seems to help heal faster)

Can't weigh - just checking in! Ate on plan yesterday and have a plan again for today. Using myfitnesspal, helps me stay true to low carb and that 4 letter word "portions". Going to work out right now in my "fake it til I make" approach to exercise!! HA! My body is changing again and I know this sounds funny but I think my apple is actually paring down!! And let's just say my face has a lot more "character" than it used too!!

PIXIKAT.. I am so sorry that you got a virus just when you are starting back to school.. Oh shoot.. those darn things flying in the air. Have you tried zinc? Echinacea? I take ESBERITOX... its good stuff (kinda expensive but worth it) and it stops the illness from even finding a foot hold in my body when I first get the sniffles/sore throat/cough (those that are not due to the cold weather)..

CALEE.. So glad to have you join us. Our little group here is getting bigger, which makes my heart happy too!.. I remember when I was the only one last summer LOL.... Glad you are committed! ME TOO! :)

Good Morning!

I feel so much better being committed to LC again. Except that when I go LC I can't sleep. My body gets revved up. I have two cups of decaf. 1 at 5:30 when I wake up, 1 when I get to the office at 7. After that it's herbal tea or water. When I was eating some sweet potatoes or a banana in the evening, I slept like a baby. Last night at midnight I took 1/4 of an Ambien to help me fall asleep. I prefer not taking it.

Yesterday I did a Pilates reformer class and after work walked a 5k. I should have been tired!

I shed 1.5 pounds since yesterday morning. Bravo for water release. I'm trying to drink more water. So getting closer to goal.

I take Flu Plus by Heel's Inc if I feel a cold coming on. I haven't had a cold in over a decade so it must work. Also take extra zinc at those times.

sue I dont really take anything, If we have airborne in the house I will take that when it starts to hit, I think that has zinc in it. other than that vicks on the chest and sometimes nyquill lol I am feeling better-ish today, or I thought I was but my eggs I made for breakfast don't taste right :( I think I always get sick the first week cause people travel on break and bring foreign germs back with them lol

I hope everyone else is doing great! lulu I have a problem with portions too, and eating cause something sounds good not cause I am hungry. That is why I still calorie count even though we aren't supposed to need to lol

Hey rachel I need to remember to come back and watch that video. Reading and watching things that talk about what sugar and carbs do inside the body helps me stay on track, makes whatever I am wanting sound less appealing so I am willing to try making something to try that is OP

Thanks Sue! Still feel like a faker and too food focused. True confession: Have to "force" myself to the workout equipment - then I focus on walking off my breakfast before I've even eaten it - weird motivation right?

Pixikat - you are going in the right direction and the calorie count gives me a gauge especially for non induction choices. It's easy to eat induction choices - it's harder for me when I have additional food choice and I know I can't eat it all!! (Well I want to but it's not good for me)

Lulu.. I too do my 3 mile walk in the am before I eat and weigh in on the weekends.. Love those readings! LOL then its a challenge to keep that lower number :D

Good Morning!

I'm feeling incredibly motivated by this challenge. It's helping me do what I haven't been able to do all fall which is to stay focused and motivated. Today is my low weight since before Thanksgiving when I started playing with up and down the same three pounds, on top of the 4 I gained in Europe in September. So thank you for the motivation. When I see others doing it, it helps me so much.

Yesterday I focused on getting fat higher and keeping protein a little lower. Around 1200 calories with 25 net carbs. 60 minute walk outdoors and 60 minutes Pilates reformer.

Today will be 30 minute walk and 60 minute Reformer class. Going out to dinner with five friends. I know the place has a burger I can strip off the bun if nothing else looks great.

I was. I did really well while I kept up with it and checked in regularly. As soon as I stopped checking in I really slid downhill and gained weight again. I noticed the name of this challenge because it is what my main issue is, I don't "love myself", I don't respect what my body needs and wants and treat myself well. I know that the reason I keep falling off the wagon is emotional and due to feelings I have towards myself. I get to feeling bad and I take it out on myself by eating, binge eating in my case. I decided to really make myself think about how I want to treat myself and learning to do that.

I did weigh in at 182 on 1/21

Wow, there is a lot of success in this thread! It is making me feel that if I stick to it I should be able to see some change.

Good Morning!

I hope everyone woke up feeling good this morning.

We've been having warm weather so I'm taking advantage of it. 30 minute walk to work and back which I do regardless of the weather. 60 minute Pilates Reformer class. Then after work I got in a 60 minute 5k walk with a friend. Will probably do the same today if I can get someone to do the afternoon walk with me. But regardless I'll have Pilates and 30 minute walk.

I went out to dinner last night. I generally eat at smaller venues but thi was a bigger group of people I used to work with. We ended up at outback. I ate a side Caesar salad, no croutons and 5 oz of steak and a glass of red wine. My carbs still ended up below 25 for the day. I think going up 2 ounces is a victory. The bread didn't even call my name. Victory! I'm still on track and feeling motivated, 1 day at a time.

mainecyn we are super glad to have you back! I struggle with loving myself too, I tend to be overly critical of myself and I fall into the "well if i can't be perfect why bother" mindset. Pixie, when I'm out with just a friend or two, I ask them not to bring bread. Last night everyone else eats bread so it was up to me. It was at the other end of the table. I didn't mind passing because I'm more focused on keeping on plan while feeling so motivated. I have all my broccoli to the person sitting next to me. Go with a friend that won't want bread! :)

Yay on the stix. I like seeing them change color.

I workout daily but weights are only 4x a week. Why do you expect to gain after working out?

I can't even remember for sure what today's date is lol.

I am just happy that there wasn't an increase in my weight, I will take staying the same if I have to chose between remaining where I am or gaining.

I have done some thinking and think that a goal of just 5 lbs would be fairly reasonable to do between now and Feb 14th. It isn't to stressful of a number if I eat correctly.

I am keeping busy, training at work. I am trying to focus on positives and tell myself that I am doing a good job learning this job. I can do 12 things perfect and one thing wrong and I focus only on the 1 item. I at least have pointed that out to myself. I spoke to my husband again last night about needs I have with help, and once again saying what I need and want really worked. So, I am going to try not to forget that the next time I need or want something before I get upset, remember to ask for what I need. That is so hard.

Main, I decided on a 5 pound goal as well. I think that if I could get to, and hold onto 5 I would be delighted.

You're doing a lot of hard work. It's that "1" thing that keeps me up at night. I've been training myself to continually refocus to the things that I've done right. I often just go to a place of gratitude because that always feels good.

I had a good food and exercise day. I'm feeling proud of myself. Five days of solid commitment. YAY!

Oh it is so hard to have that bread sit anywhere near me (tho not as hard and as tempting as it was 1 year ago... the craving for bread does fade.. its just the smells.. ahhhhhhhh Glad THOSE have no calories!)

Mainecyn... Oh that is a hard lesson to learn... to ask for help! I too have a hard time asking and just try to do everything on my own (eating, working out etc). But helping other people makes me happy... so wouldn't other people be happy too to help me? Everyday I have to wrap that around my head! You are on the right track and this time ... your results will show you are moving forward to getting your goal!

Calee glad you are sticking with it! :) Give yourself a few days and then WHAM the scale will show you the results of your hard work!

Good Morning everyone,

Sue, how are you feeling?

I'm really happy that it's Friday! I'm looking forward to a fun weekend. Nothing special planned but will see a few friends and get in some nice walks.

I woke up feeling really swollen this morning. I know I didn't drink enough water yesterday. But I did eat on plan. 66/22/11% 1200 calories.

I have in 8 hours of exercise since Monday so today is just 30 minutes walking. Having an eye exam after work, then getting a pedicure because I deserve a bit of pampering after working so hard to eat on plan all week and just because I need it too! :)

I'm super pleased with my progress this week. I know I'll make my Vday goal and hopefully beyond.

calee I ended up going last night with my husband actually, I did not touch the bread and delicious cinnamon sugar butter! I did have chili and a couple fried cheeseballs that were battered though :( I used the ketostix twice so far today, first one no ketones detected second trace ketones so hopefully I didn't do too much damage and slip right back into ketosis. . . the reason I expect a gain after exercise is because sore muscles retain water they need for the healing process. I hadn't been doing much strength training so I know they weren't already holding water for repairing. . . congrats on 100lbs maintaining, that is awesome!

mainecyn 5lbs is a great goal! and good job for talking to your husband about what you need, that can be so hard sometimes.

Hey ladies hope you all are doing well!! Congrats to everyone continuing to loose!

PNK- I need to do the same thing LOTS OF WATER! lol

I couldn't ignore the call of the scale for a whole week so I jumped on this morning and down to 208 I have to say after last week I had my hopes up a little to much even though I knew better but 2lbs is fantastic. I'm just a nerd. Just been having a hard time remembering to eat now that I am back in school it has been a really big struggle. I am able to get breakfast and lunch in usually then I am to tired to make something low carb and cook for my kids that I just cook for them and I snack on low crab stuff. (I am still working on incorporating this lifestyle into all of our lives.) My calories haven't seemed to reach over a 1000 much this week with all the veggies and I know I can't continue that! I haven't cheated though and just because of convenience I have to say that is SOOO hard! I will figure it out just needed to vent a little! Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Pixie, I understand about eating out. Good job staying away from the bread. If younwere in trace ketosis, you'll probably be back in by tonight or tomorrow. Are you back on track today? I don't know if I've held onto weight after working out.

Brooklyn, I can tell you from personal experience that those measly two pounds add up to a lot over time. Hang in there and eat eat eat so that your body is a happy little fat burner.

Down 6 pounds from the beginning of this thread - my new goal is to be in the 160s by Valentine's Day!! I actually think it is doable!! My clothes are looser even though the scale has stayed in the 170s.

NSV: Noticed again that bras not fitting correctly- went and was re-measured last night - down to a 38. I started at a 44. I almost fell over....honestly never expected that. And in Jones New York - the business separates I like to buy - down to 12. Only shopping on the smaller side of Dress Barn now - it still feels really, really awkward.....enjoying and "adjusting" to the journey!!

Good Morning!

Lulu, your progress is awesome! Sounds like you had fun shopping.

I was tired last night. Slept 9:30-5 so I had a good sleep. I don't have a lot planned for today. Instead of waiting until today, I got my mani/pedi last night after my eye exam. Today is a bit of closet cleaning/donating. My pilates studio is having a grand opening party so I'll walk up there and probably walk 5k around the lake on my way, then browse the farmers market. Maybe some meat shopping. This week I feasted on grass fed beef burgers and lamb burgers. Maybe something different next week.

I'm delighted with my weight loss. I get a bit of scale motivation every day. I'm keeping my fat up and calories in the 1100-1400 range with net carbs under 25. I eat a good bit of veggies but no fruit.

I nearly fell of my scale this morning. I had to re-weigh myself 3 times and then took my measurements because I was in such disbelief!

Somehow I managed to lose two pound this week. I am dreaming, I swear.

Only one day of exercise, though it was ALOT! Shoveled a foot of snow from a 4 car driveway all by myself. Boyfriend has been stuck in bed with the flu. So glad I got my flu shot!

The calories versus weight loss just does not match up .... I still think I'm dreaming!! Someone PINCH ME!

Cape when I counted calories I would cut them back to like 1200 and eat very little fat and moderate protein and carbs and I hardly ever saw that scale move. On Atkins my carbs are 20 my fat is high protein is moderate/high and my calories are at 1600 or more sometimes and I still lose. Its hard to wrap our head around what we have been taught all our lives isn't what works for us! Funny thing is I have been having a very hard time this week even getting over 1000 calories, part is because of time and part is because of not being hungry and the scale seems to move a little less lol.

Brooklyn, I count everything.

I try to keep calories in the 1200-1400. I'm really keeping an eye on protein because I've read so much this time around that excess protein can raise insulin levels. My protein meat is around 4 oz, add fat and some veggies to fill up. I do love adding goat cheese to my salads. This week I had lots of salad with colorful veggies, brussels sprouts, zuchinni ribbons cooked in butter, green beans with mushrooms and onions and tons of celery with Jalape˝o Philly cream cheese. I even melted some of the cream cheese on my burger at lunch yesterday.

My meals were satisfying and delicious last week. I eat a square of 85% Lindt after lunch. Last night I was still hungry and craving a bit of sweet so I put a spoon of Dragoba unsweetened cocoa in an ounce of cream cheese. I could have eaten more, but it was "enough".

I think in the past I've been more limiting, then unsatisfied and wanting to eat off plan. I'm learning as I go because I know that to wear all of the 6-8 jeans that I bought in 2012, this is how I need to eat. I will be so happy to get back to my adult lifetime low of 141-142. Putting on these 10 pounds really made me uncomfortable. Funny that at 249 I didn't even notice 10 pounds.

Only down a hair sue but it'll flush back off. And the ketostix read moderate ketone levels last night and this morning so I didn't really do any damage other than water weight. My legs are still KILLING ME :( so I haven't done more exercise.

I did not work out yesterday and I am ok with that!! It was quite a work week and yesterday it was awesome to sleep in - in my own bed!!! Back to the elliptical today!!

My son went back to college last Monday and baby girl went out to a play last night - so had a nice quiet dinner with my husband. It was nice because I didn't have to make anything different. Cheeseburgers and coleslaw!! So glad he likes coleslaw too!!! Simple but so good!! (I just didn't have a bun!)

Sue - You are right about getting your mind right during this journey!! When I was younger and would lose weight, I always would get this feeling of superiority as if I was better being thinner.... Not good. I am who I am, big or small. Being thinner doesn't make someone a better person, just like being fat doesn't make someone a bad person. It's a journey!!!

Congrats to everyone moving downdowndown!!

Lulu, it's definitely a journey. For me it's been since I was 7. I've made a vow with myself that when I get to goal, I will be happy and never try to lose another pound. However the measuring stick has changed. When I weighed 249.8, I wanted to be 149.8. Achieved! Yesterday I did a calculator posted on a forum that I've used before. It says that for my body build and fat %, my ideal weight is 123-138. I may make 138 my ultimate goal. I bought a lot of size 6 jeans when I hit 141 in 2012. I want them to fit more comfortably. 138 would be perfect. The journey continues with no Good/bad attached.

I'm glad you had fun with your husband. How do you make your slaw?

Happy Sunday!

My calories were probably the highest in months. Somewhere around 1800 where I generally eat 1200-1300, or less. I had a really hungry day even though moderate on the stix. I sampled a few things, raw cacao etc at a grand opening at my Pilates studio. I'm sure it made me hungrier. I need to remember that. I did walk for two hours so that was great.

I'm going to keep my calories down around 1200 today of mainly meat!

Calee... Wow.. How was the raw Cacao? I have a Xocai chocolate every day (uncooked chocolate so it has all its health benefits still) but it is sweetened with Acai and Blueberries.. did that raw Cacao have anything added to it?! or it would be sooooo bitter! I think whatever weight that you want to be is what is perfect for you! Some people (ME) are more muscular... some people have BIG bones.. some are small and petite.. it all depends on your build and structure (muscle weighs more)... Its how happy you are in your skin :) I just figure I won't be perfect until I am an angel (well close to perfect as you can get :) )

I am thinking that I will finally make a goal that I have set. Have not done that in months and month... I just have 2.4 lbs more to go to 2/14 and more than 2 weeks... I am gonna Blow my Goal weight away!!!! HOORAY!

Back to my workout routine yesterday and holding at 172 - really hoping to see 171 or 170 this week! After tomorrow I will be on the road again until Friday - so hoping Friday will be a nice number!! Company coming for next weekend and I am trying to figure out what to make!! ( I made my standard fauxtato salad this weekend - I really enjoy it!) I really have to work on my abs!! Have not truly adopted a routine to work on my stomach.....

Good morning,

I'm glad to see everyone still putting in the great effort. I wasn't able to exercise yesterday at all except normal walking around shopping etc. my back was really hurting all weekend. Ye▀terdat I took Advil type pain relief several times which I rarely do. I think I will have to skip Pilates today and just do 30 minute walk. I will do mat Pilates at home tonight. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Weekends tend to be harder for me. Yesterday I had some black beans on an organic tostada salad sans taco. The beans were still enough to set me back to small ketosis. I think it's easier for me during the week because I take my breakfast and lunch and don't eat out.

I'm happy that I pretty much maintained and look forward to hitting my goal by the 1st! Then maybe a bit more in the following two weeks. YAY!

I am figuring that I could be up a small amount in the morning, or stay the same. I don't expect to drop anything.

I haven't weighed in today, I forgot this morning as I was running later than normal. I expected some increase in weight the other day since I at nuts over the weekend, I had them each day and they were very high in sodium. I was craving salt. I'm probably not the only one that does, it used to be just sugar and flour I wanted, but now I am finding that salty foods seem to be attractive.

I ate more than what is considered a serving size (I never followed those in the past). However, I didn't eat an entire jar. I generally sit down with nuts and the container, which I know is not a good thing to do. The salt had me up a little the other day, and I didn't drink enough water. So, I'm not letting myself worry to much about what I will weigh. I didn't binge this weekend, so that is a win when compared to losing weight. I didn't beat myself up over eating the nuts either, another action that generally causes me to just say heck with it and eat the entire jar.

I am thinking I should follow the good example that others are giving and begin to track my food and calories again. I used to do it, and kept at it steadily. Then I stopped. Its no mistake that after I stopped keeping track of the numbers my weight increased. I find excuses not to keep track on the multiple calorie trackers I have on the computer and the apps. I own a small scale as well, am I using it, no. I know that I am still over eating as far as servings go. If I want to get serious and get back to losing weight instead of gain more, I need to do this for myself.

I can only keep squeezing myself into my jeans a bit longer before I have to admit I am getting to big for them. I used to really pay attention to every detail and now I think I am just being lazy and trying not to hold myself accountable. If I don't keep track then I can lie to myself and say that its not my fault I'm gaining and act shocked. Like today. I know I have had soup, homemade hot and sour soup with chicken breast), two slices of sundried tomato turkey with couple tblsp cream cheese. But, I don't know how much that really is?

Mainecyn- Good for you for recognizing the uptick and formulating a plan to deal with it!! That is where I totally fell down 10 years ago. You did not come this far and work this hard to go back!!! Keep up the good work!!! YOU are worth it!!!

Mainecyn... I know you are figuring out a whole bunch of stuff in your life.. You have a bunch of family in your house too and that is alot of work besides working on yourself! That weight will come down. I got more inspiration yesterday as I started to read the book (1992) from Dr. Atkins, again as it has been a year. Everytime you read.. you learn more! :) I have faith in you!

Main, I'm so sorry this is feeling difficult for you right now. I am one that tracks everything. Just this morning I went back into MFP to see what I was eating last summer before my weight started going up. I remembered that I was eating Paleo, very clean with high fat and lower protein. It just solidified thatnim on the right track. The five came off last summer nd here I am taking them off again. This time I hope to remember that flour causes me illness called obesity.

I'm doing ok. I had to skip Pilates yesterday because my back was still out of wack. Maybe today I can try.

My calories have been a bit higher because of trying to up the fat. Heavy cream instead of fat free half and half. Last night a big plop of avocado on my 3 oz of beef. 4 slices thick bacon for an afternoon snack because my lunch of small salad and 3oz pork wasnt going to hold me from 1-8 pm. I had WW before dinner. Yesterday when I went to sleep I thought for sure I'd be up a few ounces, but nope.

So who's going to be the lucky recipient of the whoosh this week? I hope it's all of you!

Sarah, that fat fast is really working for you! I end up eating too many calories. I would love to tie a bucket of Mac nuts around my neck and self feel all day. But I know that's a picnic not a fat fast. :)

I am thinking a scarf tied up around my hips might hide my wrinkles alittle...

Hi everyone,
Running late this morning so doing a run by to say huge congrats to Sarah!

So much success happening here.

I'm up a few ounces. Retaining fluids. Didn't eat enough fat yesterday and felt hungrier. Will work on more fat today. At my weight I expect small fluctuations so taking the victory of staying on plan. Walked 90 minutes at 3.5 MPH yesterday. Trying Pilates this morning. I do it on a machine with a weight pulley system (Reformer) so I had to wait till back felt better.

I can see that I'm going to have to work to get below 149 and stay there. I wish MCT oil didn't give me such a tummy ache because a small swig gets rid if all hunger and cleans me right out.

Thanks Sue and Pixikat - the bathing suit will be purchased - I just need to find one!!(I'm pretty modest so it will have skirt and i like the sides to go as far up to my armpit as possible) Oh Sue - I have the same legs!! HA! And crows feet more like an entire flock landed on my face!! I know it will change again over the next year as everything settles and I finally get to goal.....

Note: I went back to our old challenges. I landed in the 170s in mid-November, got down to 173 before Christmas, went up through Christmas, and went back down to 172 this month....just wanted to remind myself where I have been for the past 2 months!! It is time to move on!!

PS. I loved myself enough to spend 40 minutes on the elliptical!!! Really glad I pushed myself - also good thing I had my work out gear set out already for this morning!! Make it a great day!!!

I've been hungry this week and barely measuring on the stix but below 25 carbs so I'll just keep going. Yesterday Pilates was fine.

Road trip for the day. I have to go out and train people at 4 different sites. I'm actually going to eat a protein bar on the 1.5 hour drive this morning. Having my decaf before I leave home. Lunch is out with a few of them. I will try to sway towards somewhere I can get a burger, or Mexican where I can get a Side of meat and avocado.

Almost to my goal, still might see it by Feb 1st but fine if I don't because I love how I'm eating and how I feel.

Have a fun day. I've been praying for rain and it's funny that it finally came the day I have a long drive.

calee I am good at replacing sweets cravings with keto friendly things. I am liking cream cheese with a little cocoa powder and sweetener for a cheesecake taste, or whipped cream made with some of my sugar-free syrups. But brownies are my FAVORITE things ever, which is why they are likely to be a continuous problem unless I find a replacement for them specifically. When I was calorie counting I did the black bean brownies. But those aren't keto friendly at all lol

So I was super thirsty in the middle of the night and drank the better part of 30 oz of water at like 2am so IDK how accurate my weigh in today is.

1.7.4 - forgot my blood pressure meds at home and one is a diuretic so I know I am retaining water.....worked out already today. I want to focus on making 160 my RGW by the end of March. Best wishes for an on-plan day!! Hoping for a huge flush today!!!

Good Morning,

Warning: sad report today.

I totally caved yesterday. Popcorn is my weakness. One of the stores where I was training got a small popcorn maker to make popcorn for customers. I had 3-4 cups. That totally weakened me and I had 10 tortilla chips at lunch. So I figured it was the perfect day to eat that 1/2 cup serving of homemade flan. The carbs destroyed 2weeks of hard work. I forget that this is what I hate about low carb. 1 day of 75 carbs, 1100 calories destroys my efforts and I retain mega fluids. Other than that my day was perfect. I hope some comes back off tomorrow. *sigh*

I don't want to just meet a challenge, I want to keep it off. I know I didn't gain two pounds of fat overnight.

Pixikat - I'm with you on the dairy but it is one of the things about Atkins I LOVE!! My downfall right now is nuts and I know it!!

Sue - thank you - there was a lot of flushing but no movement on the scale - I didn't start my new calendar for progress like I said I would so I am going to do that this morning. It helps to re-set my motivation. I need to move on and stop farting around!! When I look at my food diary I can tell I've been more liberal than I should have been and that's why I'm still in the 170s instead of closer or in the 160s!! Today is my new day!! Sarah set the example and took the bull by the horns - don't think I can fat fast but I certainly can eat cleaner!!

Best wishes everyone for an on-plan day!!!!

Calee... please don't regret what happened the day before... Not to worry.. it is ok as you are back in the saddle again today and going forward. That is what counts! The excess water (that is all it is as you did not eat 3500 extra calories!!!) will go away once your cells know that you are back to business! :D :hug:

Thanks for all f the encouragement. I'm not proud of yesterday or the day before and my scale is at 150.4. I'm disappointed in myself because I could have been in th 140's. I'm done messing around. I am reminded of how quickly my weight returns with even a few extra carbs. I'm going to get to my goal and below before I do anymore experimenting.

Two weeks to hit our Valentine goals! We can all do it.

I'm off on a meat and shrimp run, then I'm going to do my taxes today.

Just checking in to say that it's 2pm and my resolve to have a very low carb day is solid. I'm cooking chicken wings because I love them just plain roasted. They are so yummy, they take away any cravings for carbs. I'm hoping to be back in ketosis by tomorrow. I took a nice walk in the sunshine over to the farmers market.

Calee, popcorn is a favorite of mine too, one that's really hard to reconcile with low carb - crunch, salt... Last night I had a small bowl of in-shell sunflower seeds during a movie and it was quite satisfying - itched the scratch, in any event. I agree w the others that a one-time overdo can usually be erased by a lot of water. I've taken hot lemon water first thing in the morning this week and have been really happy with it.

Well, to my great surprise and pleasure, I reached this goal this morning! Now to see how much lower I can get by Valentines day. And then the big challenge to maintain it during our vacation just afterwards (big challenge there!)

Sarah, you did it! Keep showing us how it's done! Sunflower seeds are a great idea. Right now I am keeping nuts and seeds in sealed bags that I'm not opening while in weight loss stage. They are too easy to grab a handful. Food without brakes.

I had a great food day yesterday. 1200 calories, 14 carbs, 4 fiber. High fat, low protein. I thought for sure I would be happier, but no.

Exercise for today. 1 sixty minute walk in the woods, 1 hour of Pilates reformer class which will give me another 30 minute walk to class and back.

I know ketosis will hit if I just stay the course. Today's scale disappointment I silly because I brought it on myself. Lesson learned, I hope!

I'm happy to say that I had a perfect food day. 13 net carbs, 1240 calories, 1.5 hours of exercise. I could have used a bit more fat but oh well.

Pixicat - great job on the inches lost - in the end that's far more important to me than a number on a scale! My end goal is to fit into the not-top size in regular French stores, so that's about a US size 10 (equivalent of size 12 being the top). I could give a hoot what the number is if I can achieve that!

Calee - I carefully measure out all nuts and seeds if I eat them. I can absolutely not trust myself to eat a portion out of a big bag - the moment I open a bag of nuts I immediately portion them into 1 ounce servings, and when I eat them I just take one container. The sunflower seeds are in bulk but I do the same thing, weigh a portion into a bowl and then eat from the bowl.

Sue - glad to be in the success circle with you! I'm not setting another goal weight, I'm generally not a big fan of time-based weight goals. I join challenges like this to make sure I stay engaged with the process of losing weight for a longer period of time, but the actual number of pounds I lose during that time isn't important to me - staying in the game and generally moving in the right direction is what I really care about! My big challenge for the next weeks will actually be maintaining my losses over a 2 week vacation to Florida the second half of the month... For the past many years every time I've traveled to the States, I've gained. So this is my big challenge, to break that pattern, and stay strictly low carb. It's also a good practice, because my husband just generously organized for the kids and I to go home to the States for a month over the summer - and I need to maintain or even lose during that month, so now I'm seeing Florida as a practice run for the summer trip!

Brooklyn, it's always hard when you switch scales and have to re-calibrate where you are, but at least now you'll have faith in the numbers you see - and I know the 200s are almost in your past!

Today is day 1 of eating clean!! Just say "no" to nuts!! As I can't seem to control myself!!

Company all weekend and true confession: beer!!

I let my mom borrow my Atkins book so this weekend I ordered the 1972 version and I am waiting for it to arrive.....re-reading always helps me re-align!!

Holding but that is to be expected!! So happy for everyone's progress!! Best wishes for an on-plan day!!

Okay.. last holiday for 2 weeks (Valentines is next)... so ME TOO LULU.. Bag on the wagon.. tho I was good and only ate on plan yesterday.. but TOO MUCH salt. I too eat nuts.. Emerald has those single packets of Choc or Cinnamon roasted Almonds that are only 100 calories or 2 carbs.. Its kinda nice to have them portioned out already... BUT Cold Turkey is always a good thing too!

Good Morning!

I too parcel out nuts. It's the going back for another serving that gets me sometimes. For now they are just off my radar. I have a Costo size bag of sliced almonds for cooking (green beans etc) that I refuse to open for now. This weekend I te some BBQ pork rinds tht were cut ally good but very salty so I was able to easily limit.

Sarah, we are a Fat country. These two weeks I'll be a good trial run for summer. I vacation in Europe most years and I maintain my weight by walking 10-15 miles a day. Never a taxi, always walking. Paris is one of my favorite walking cities. I get it about wanting a size, not a number on the scale. One of my last trips to Paris my best friend bought a 00 coat. Hate her!

Lulu, I have a lot of other Atkins books but 1972 is my go to. NO more beer! It's Monday and that fun is over. Back to it girl!

I have found my new craving buster. I happen to love Quest bars and use them as a meal replacement when in a pinch. Keep one in desk and car. Last time I was in GNC I saw the new Quest Cravings Peant Butter bar. I hadn't tried it because it's expensive and I figured no way could it compare to a Reece Cup. The owner gave me a free one to try. Not eating candy, it actually tastes pretty good to me. It comes in a to pack. I eat one after dinner when I crave a sweet and it does the trick. It's not a Reece but its better than ok. 120 cal 8 fat, 4 carbs, 1.5 fiber, 1.5 sugar, 10.5 protein.

Scale started the move down, finally!

My Valentines day goal might have been a little lofty but I'm sticking to the plan :). I've stalled a bit over the last few weeks with lots of ups and downs within the same 2 lbs but overall I feel smaller and my clothes are fitting much better. I'm even into some of my clothes one size smaller which is exciting considering I was busting out of my biggest ones before going on this program.

Lulu, I'm glad you're feeling back on track. That's excellent.

I'm actually feeling pretty proud of myself today. I had a NSV. Yesterday was lunch with a former boss/friend that I've known for almost 30 years. I got a cheeseburger, no bun and picked a bit at the salad that I got instead of potatoes.

Then came Weight Watchers. I went with a good friend. She asked if she could take me to dinner and I knew would be so disappointed if I said no. So off we went to a neighborhood restaurant/bar that makes the best organic burger in town. Again, cheeseburger no bun. This time I didn't even pick at the salad or housemade pickles or marinated onions. I did ask for some homemade garlic aioli.

So two eat outs. Another one coming Wednesday and Thursday. If I can eat out and maintain I would be thrilled. Eatin out generally costs me two pounds of sodium weight but all of these places are upscale farm to table places or I won't go.

Sarah a size goal is great! When I get close to the end I plan to focus more on how my body looks and feels because I have no idea where I will end up. I do know I want to be in the healthy range though! I picked my gw because it is in the middle of healthy for my hight but I'm flexible.

I did a full body workout and ate out on sunday (grilled shrimp and steak with broccoli yum!) So yea... I am thinking I may take a scale break for a bit. So I will weigh in on Valentines day for the end of my various challenges and for the 1st weigh in for the next one. and then maybe not again til March.

I may fail miserably at this plan because as crazy as it drives me it keeps me on track I think. And it is just habit so maybe I will have my hubby hide them. idk

Either way I plan to check in on you guys every day or two as I have been doing just to catch up and see how everyone is doing. :)

Sue, I am sending you a million big hugs. Do not stay away too long. You struggled with the pounds that you have shed. It would really be a shame to have to reclaim them. If you stick around maybe you can go through this breaking heart and not have to kick yourself about the pounds later.

I'm having an UGH morning with the scale. Carbs were fine but sodium was off the charts. I ate a low carb chili from netrition store with 1080 sodium. Later in the day ate pork rinds while watching biggest loser. Oh the irony. Plus three nights in a row of only 5 hours sleep. Not surprised scale is up this morning. I can't make a fist and rings are tight. My office is freezing and difficult to motivate myself to guzzle water.

I wish the week would end. Dinner out with girlfriends at a upscale restauant with no entree under $19 and the only thing on the Mexican plate that I can eat is the meat. the woman moving got to pick. I will get a side salad and call it dinner.

Tomorrow a business luncheon. Ugh but will be easier. Tomorrow dinner at a restauant called Rouge. Named for its specialty of red meat. That will be perfect. Good burger no bun.

It takes such strategy to eat put and stay under 25-30 carbs. So I'm ignoring the scale today and even though it's even colder today, I will chug water and drink hot lemon water too.

It's finally really raining here in Northern California. Yay!

This week has really been filled with eating hallenges this week and my cle is reflecting my sodium intake. I am looking forward to a more even keel starting tomorrow.

Last night ate out at an upscale Mexican place. Ordered carnitas and eye balled 3 ounces and ate it. I have been weighing food long enough it know a portion. Ditched the tortillas, rice and beans and had them put a little Cesar salad no croutons on my plate. Drank water. Hated paying $25 for that.

Business lunch today with my boss and someone else. Will hope bor a burger or Cobb salad and et the top off of it. Dinner with other girlfriends at a place that specializes in small portions of high priced red meat. After this I am NOT eating out until I've hit my challenge goal.

I am bad at not weighing in, I gave into curiosity and regretted it. I am not tracking though, I am not thinking about it because it is just a number and I am on track with working out and food and my ketostix say I have been in ketosis every day so I am waiting it out. I recently started making sure to get in 2 litres + of water so I wonder if I was just constantly dehydrated even though I was never thirsty? idk

Hi ladies I hope you are doing well! I had a little hiccup yesterday as I was stressing over my exam but it wasn't to major and I have come back from it today. I have been saving my carbs for dinner tonight and I am so excited LOL its just chicken fajitas with green red yellow pepper onion and broccoli but those veggies a pretty carby plus the seasoning, but man I have been looking forward to these! of course no shell but what ever I don't mind lol!

Pixicat: I feel dehydrated no matter how much water I drink my mouth is always SO dry. I drink at least 3 23.7 oz bottles but most days I drink 6 of them. Then I broke down and had a diet pepsi the other day and didn't feel that way :( oh my body lol

Had a great food day yesterday. Did not have to eat out for any reason. Going back in the right direction. I will definitely reach my goal by Friday. My workouts have been so hard. I hurt from my waist t o my armpits and my tush is pretty sore as well.

I notice that I barely register small on the stix unil a few hours after dinner. Then it's close to moderate. My fat hasn't been overly high, generally less than my protein, so I must be working on converting to burning my own fat. I will keep carbs very low again today.

I was happy with my fat fast results but then this week I just ate low carb without counting anything and no surprise, that wasn't enough attention to lose. The good news is that just one focused day seemed to get off the bloat (restaurant on Saturday night). Working hard to get a little lower for the end of this challenge on Friday!

Sarah, I'm happy to see that one careful day got you dropping weight again.

I am really seeing that my weight loss happens on a day of less than 1000 calories or 1100 with 90 minutes exercise. It's a tough reality of getting older for me. I will persist!

My friend past 2/8.. I did go visit him and tried to express my feelings for him - but he was semi conscious and there were guy friends in the room. I hope he heard me.. but the nurse put in Morphine while I was there. My soul felt better and I felt like he did hear. Heart hole is still wide open... but working on knowing that Justin is free and happy and full of Grace now (and will be a big time guardian angel for the Dolphins!) I thank you for posting hugs to me.. I truly do.. I have missed being here very much!

2/2 234.8 (-8.6 total) a scooch.. and I'll take it... After my 2.5 mile walk tho.. I was at 233.8 oh yes I was.. lots of sweat (it was in the mid=high 70's this morning).. so looking forward to THAT number sometime this week as a normal weigh in!
2/3 - 2/11 up to the 240's and going back down
2/12 237.2 (-6.2 total).. working to get back to that 235-234.8 range in 3 days. Hoping!!!!

I'm a big mess this morning. Finally fell asleep at midnight with the help of 1/4 of an Ambien. Wide awake at 4:30. Having a real Peet's mixed with my morning decaf. Work is really tough right now and I'm losing sleep over it. Things that are just out of my control. I've been keeping up my exercise but will take a day off today so that I don't injure myself but if course still walk to work and back.

My eating has been good. Lower calories, good net carb numbers. Hoping for a good poop. Sorry but it's been days. I bet the scale moves. :)

I'm so disappointed in my scale. I am staying on plan and that's really all I can do. These last 10 are uch a bear to wrestle to the ground.

I still have not given up. I was 154 in early January so I'm still down some but that 148 has become elusive. I feel stressed about work and I know that's not helping me. Calories yesterday 1028. Net carbs 38. I ate a lot of veggies because of the stress.

I refuse to feel like a failure but it's difficult not to. I have 90 minutes of exercise scheduled into today.

Happy Valentines Day!

I'm really glad this challenge is over. What I'm happy about is that I stayed accountable. I've eaten close to perfect except one slip with popcorn a few weeks go. I have exercised at least 7 hours a week, generally more. I've kept my calories nd carbs low. I don't think there is much that I could have done differently aside from maybe adding more fat.

Good morning! Sorry I havent been around, school and work has me super busy and the scale has been pissing me off so I am trying to keep on keeping on without focusing on what is happening too much.

I saw 241.5 about a month ago but since then have seen everything from 242.0-245.0

I honestly don't know what to think or do. I outright cheated 3 times and other than the day or two after each time I registered in ketosis every time i checked. All I can think is that I am eating enough fat that my body is using my dietary fat and not my body fat (?) I don't know.... maybe I should try a fat fast like sarah lol

Rather than a fat fast right now, what is your calorie level? I'm annoyed by the reality that I need to keep calories in check. I think at least part of the fat fast success was due to the fact that it limits calories to an un-sustainable 1000/day.

I don't lose if I'm above 1500. And I lose faster when I'm lower than that...

Hard ugly truth, often avoided in low carb discussions - some of us, in particular middle aged (and older) women, and inactive (me) need to really watch calories, like on most other diets. Low carb makes it more liveable, makes hunger less of an issue, but I've found I can't scoop sour cream into everything, layer with cheese, grab handfuls of nuts and snack on fat bombs and lose weight.

It's a bummer, I guess, but it's also my reality.

I'm not sure that was the case when I started at 235 pounds, and I know it wasn't the case 5 years ago, but now @ age 44, weight around 200 it's my situation. I've even started thinking through what I'll do when my current efforts aren't enough to lose. Will I live with that body weight? Will I bite the bullet and exercise? Will I try to shave off even more calories (not likely a liveable long term solution for me). Hopefully I can still lose a bunch of weight now that I'm more dialed in to the details...

Sarah- I have been estimating at about 1600 per day. I eat in the dining hall a few days a week which is why I say estimating because I don't have counts on most of that food. My guess has been calories too.

When I lost most of my weight I had to stay at 1200-1300 and workout 5 days a week to really lose at a steady pace so I think I will have to do my best to get back to that. I did slimfast then for convenience so I may try a similar plan doing a protein shake for breakfast with a couple tablespoons of HWC in it to up the fat, a quest bar for lunch, and an atkins friendly dinner with a snack of macadamia nuts or something.

That is easy enough to do. Working in 5 days of working out a week will be harder... possible, just harder lol

Sarah, I think your most important statement is that it's your reality. I had a doctor tell me that likely my reality is 1000 calories and to make friends with it. He was male, 50's, slim and a runner. He said his reality was around 1400-1500 to maintain.

At 63 I find my reality to be around 1200 calories that are low carb with 7 hours of exercise helps me maintain. I can have an occasional tret, but the scale goes up and it takes a week to get stable again.

I'm having to struggle to figure out how to get lower on the scale. It definitely a journey!
