Thursday SBD Chat for 12/26
Good morning on this "day-after", or Boxing Day. I'm needing several cups of coffee to get me going after staying up late playing a wild game of Monopoly with the grandkids, and having them bend the rules to suit them. It was fun, though, and the kids were having a blast. Now they're all sleeping in while SOME of us grown-ups have to be up early to go to work to make more money to buy them more games, LOL.
It was a lovely Christmas here, surrounded by ALL my grandkids and family, and watching everyone opening their presents, accompanied by the excited squeals of the little ones. Food porn was in abundance, but I actually didn't overdo it, except for a small slice of birthday cake and ice cream.

Good Morning
Linda, thanks for getting us started! It sounds like you are still enjoying your holiday! Kudos to you for not "overdoing" with food.
I've been strong through all the food stuff, until yesterday. We had an OP breakfast at home but when I got to DD's it was leftovers and I ate all kinds of stuff, but in small quantities. We didn't have dinner...but I had a plate of homemade goodies. The good news is it's back OP today.
Emotionally, we had a difficult holiday. My BIL(my DB's DH)died on Saturday. My brother, who is in Key West, is surrounded by many dear friends, and is planning a memorial at a date when we can all travel. I'm grateful for that as it would be very difficult for me to leave now, especially since my mom won't travel at this point.
So, I get back online with food, support my brother and get back to my projects. One rented, two to go.
Take care everyone!

Debbie, sad to have that memory around for the Day! Very sensible to wait until spring for the memorial.
Linda, I can just imagine the fun stuff at your house yesterday.
Had a great celebration at Jim's in-laws' house yesterday - so-so food but lots of fun and laughter with seven kids under six! Rilee who is 18 months was the star of the show and took a real liking to me. It's the white hair, I'm sure because the other grandma colours hers. The drive home after dark was fine as the roads were clear and it did not snow.
Snow on the menu again today but I have an Open House here in the Village this afternoon. the Mayor's soiree is this evening but I have a drive so ...
Keep on celebrating, Beachies. It's only the second day of Christmas. watch for the two turtle doves.

Good morning chicks! I'm thrilled I slept until 7:15 am this morning. Woo hoo!
Linda, what a beautiful time, thanks for sharing. Who's birthday?!
Lexiss, I'm very sorry for your loss, but am glad he has lots of friends and support there.
Ruth, seven kids under 6! Must've been very exciting!!
For me - off to my normal schedule. DH took off the rest of the week to spend with the kids, but I work the rest of the week, including Saturday.
Yesterday was great - had a few friends for supper, and then a few more joined us for dessert. I really enjoyed that - I might have to do that again. And funny, the cats all bought me a present each! DH said he came home one day, they were waiting at the door with their hats and boots on, money in hand, ready to go. They picked out some great gifts, too! (books!)
Have a wonderful recovery today. (I won't talk about food...)

A quick good morning Today we travel to CT to see some of Tim's family. I'm looking forward to a day of play tomorrow.
We had a lovely day of good food, a little driving around looking for birds, and lots of together time. Santa came here too, the sneaky guy. Apparently he knows how much we love the outdoors because we both got kayak carts and warm boots.
Cottage - Sounds like a perfect day
Debbie - I guessed when you posted pictures. I am so sorry to hear that.
Ruth - I explained the whole 12 days of Christmas thing to Tim. I hope our tree lasts until the 6th!
Okay, better get a move on so we can get on the road.

Tammy you make me laugh. The dogs went shopping for DS too! The surprised him with flannel shirts, cammo PJs and a baseball hat. Usually they get slippers for abusing them during the year lol.
Ruth and Linda I enjoy the holiday more when there are young ones around. Keeps us young at heart.
Debbie my sincerest condolences to you and your family. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
DS and I had a nice morning before he went to his Dad's. Had a lovely time at my brother's. Joe came later and he enjoyed himself. I will be leaving for VA in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow. My step father was moved to ICU yesterday. They are still unsure why whis WB count and BP are so low. The fever is down, but he is still in a lot of pain. They did a bone marrow biopsy yesterday, but the results won't be in for a few days. Today he is having another CT concentrating in his back and kidneys. My mom said they are not functioning properly and he might start dialysis. She doesn't want to worry his DDs yet. DS is on the fence about coming with me. I am not going to push him as I know we will be running back and forth to the hospital. I want to make sure my mom doesn't get herself run down. My mom did have a big glass of wine and a little moonshine at her neighbor's yesterday. She said that felt sooooo good lol
We will not discuss what I ate yesterday, not pretty at all, but oh so good. Joe made an Italian Cheesecake with rum soaked raisins and pine nuts with an amaretto gram cracker crust. There weren't even crumbs left lol
Happy Boxing Day. Ruth, no turtle doves yet, but I did see a hawk

Good morning,
I am wfh today and tomorrow and hope to get a lot of paperwork taken care of. It is nice and quiet as everyone is still asleep after the festivities. I need to start thinking of taking down the decorations since we leave on Monday for a week. I may just remove the decorations that high winds would blow over and leave everything else til we get back.
Cottage sounds like you had fun, we went to the movies in the evening and it was packed.
Debbie so sorry for you loss
Ruth it is fun with little ones, DD2 is 10 so almost at the age where they stop believing but it was still fun.
Tywnn how cute!!! DD2 bought a toy present for our doggie but she does not play with any toys at all, she just likes to cuddle and sleep lol
Cyndi enjoy your day in CT.
Jekel sorry to hear about your stepdad, that is hard. Glad you had a good time yesterday. I wish there were only crumbs left here but alas no but I am determined to be op from now on.
Have a wonderful day everyone!!
