Chicks up for a Challenge - Challenge to Pick Myself Up, Get Back On the Wagon and Stay on the Wagon

I have been on and off my plan since May. I did really good for the first few months of the year but life got in the way and I lost control and have not been able to stay on track since. I have finally reached my limit and my all time highest weight (235.6). I am ready to get back on track and take better care of my body. I am totally miserable and I know that the only way to change this is to eat right and exercise and get my weight down.

I am challenging myself to stay on track one day at a time. Today is the first day and I am going to have a great day.

Here is what my day will be like...

Day 1

B: Bagel thin, 1 tbsp cream cheese, coffee w/ 1/2 C skim milk (done)
L: Healthy Choice Cafe Steamer, 1 pc Dove dark choc (done)
S: Clementine, banana, Yo Crunch 100 Cal Yogurt, 4 Fig Newtons, cup hot chocolate w. 1/2 C skim milk (done)
D: Progresso Heart Healthy Black Bean Soup, 1 tbs sour cream, Bagel Thin, 100 Cal Yogurt Pretzels (done)
Exercise: Walked 2 miles, Yard work

If anyone else is struggling to stay on the wagon, feel free to join me in this challenge. I need all the encouragement I can get right now. :D

End of day check in:

I've made it through the first day. It was oh so hard but I hung in there and didn't buy any junk food nor did I binge today. I did a 2 mile walk and saw just how out of shape I am right now. I know that each day I work out, I will feel stronger.

Day 3 and hanging in there. Last night was a challenge and I had some pringles but I stayed in control of how many I ate and was down 2 pounds this morning.

Three days down and working on day 4. It's getting a little easier to not think about eating junk food. Need to up the water today though.

Hey girl! Long time no talk! I've found my way back, gosh probably after a year or so away. To say the least things have not been going well for me either. I've put back on a lot of weight.

I'm hoping to get motivated to get back on the right track again, so of course I came back to 3FC.

Saw your thread and just wanted to say way to go! You're doing great so far. =)

Yes it has been a while and I'm glad to see you back. It has been a rough year for me with my weight. I started a new job that is very stressful and food has been my way of dealing with it. It was so hard to get back on track but after pigging out on a cruise and being so miserably overweight, I decided that I was ready to get it together.

Just take it one meal at a time and before you know it, you'll have a day, then two, three and so on under your belt. You have been successful in the past and I know you can do it again. Let me know how your first day goes.

GettinFit, great job!!! :cp: My plan is very different from yours. Most of what you eat, I wouldn't be able to eat. Plus, staying on plan for me includes a cheat day each week, but I want you to know that I am following your thread here, and I am so impressed with your determination and accountability! I'm sure you are an inspiration for many, and I won't be surprised if you have quite a few join you when the new year begins! Way to go! Keep going!!! :trampo:

Awhhh, Thanks Jacqui. This time around I'm taking it one day at a time. I've learned from the past that I need the daily accountability so this thread has been great for me. I have tried so many diets but this time, I'm just trying to focus on eating less and exercising. I'm sure I'll be working in some cheat days along the way too.

Hello Bonnie. I hope you're having success getting back on the wagon. It is so hard but we can do it!!!

I missed posting yesterday and Saturday but I am hanging in there. The scale seems to be stuck though. I had a huge 11 pound drop during the first week so I guess my body is still adjusting. I decided to go back to tracking WW Points as I will be joining the WW At Work program again on 2/5.

I am working on Day 25 now.

Inspiring! Just wanted to say what a great job you are doing. I am another one that just can't seem to stay on the wagon no matter what I do, and its all my fault, no one else. Thank you mainecyn. I fought to get back on the wagon since last March and in December, something finally clicked inside my head. I was so upset that another year was ending and I hadn't been successful with my weight loss. I am determined that at the end of this year, I will be much smaller.

I hope that you are able to stay on the wagon. Just challenge yourself one day at a time. You can do it!

Keep going! At the end of this year, you are going to look and feel GREAT! Don't let that little bit of a stall on the scales bother you. It's perfectly natural, and it will pass once your body adjusts to a new leaner you! You're doing a fantastic job! :trampo:

Good morning and Thank you Jacqui for those encouraging words. I do plan to stay on the wagon this time as it's also for my health. If I don't lose weight and eat right, I will have to take another med and I don't want to do that. After my first huge loss, it slowed down but I didn't get discouraged and now the scale is starting to move downward again. I realized that I wasn't drinking enough water so I have upped my water and I am also doing a little more activity.

Still no change in the scale for me but I'm not going to let it get me down. I am going to drink more water today and omit the trail mix and see if that makes a difference. I do have NSVs that are keeping me motivated. They are:

I'm feeling great physically
I'm sleeping better
My body is shrinking
Clothes are fitting better
I feel so in control and that is so empowering

GettinFit, I'm so happy to report that this is day 2! :) I also exercised on the elliptical for 15 and the treadmill for 15 yesterday. This is a big deal, since I've been floundering and have been off and on my plan since the holidays. I tell you that I feel so much better in one day. Thank you for your inspiration! :thanks:

Thanks for the encouragement Tyla. I feel bad for those who are stuck on the freeway. One of my co workers didn't make it home until 2 pm today. Fortunately I rode the train in yesterday & didn't have to deal with the traffic gridlock. I have done very good today & have followed my plan today except I haven't eaten all my snacks. I have done my workout and may do another dvd this eve.

Sept2012, I'm so sorry about your ordeal yesterday. About the weight gain, you just have to take it one step at a time, and the weight will come off again. That's what I'm doing. I'm still a little shaky some days, but all I can do is take it one day at time. And pray for God's help to get me through. But today is a new day! And today I feel determined.

Just wanted to say that I had a great day today. I changed my regular routine by changing the times I do things, kept busy, prayed for guidance, listened to joyful music and was super determined to have a great day. I even bought a skinny latte for a treat, and counted it in my cals today. (And that latte gave me extra energy, too.)

I was worried that because I said I was a little shaky lately that I was changing the juju here. Not too worry. I'm strong and I know you are strong, too, GettinFit! Let's continue to make ourselves healthy. :)

May I join you? I'm new to this site and I am not sure exactly where I fit in. I have been on a wgt loss journey now for a year and a half. I recently had foot surgery and it put a stall and bump in my progress. I am determined to get back to calorie counting and hopefully in the next few weeks some exercise. ( my foot is still recovering) I am so inspired by all three of you. Thank you for sharing your stories for others motivation!!

:welcome: Nursemom, just jump right in. I hear you on the stall. I quickly dropped the first 12 pounds in Dec and it's taken me the entire month of Jan to lose 2 more pounds. I'm hoping that things will move a little faster in Feb.

Not back to normal hahaah but not letting it get me down Still 288.8.

GettinFIT - Finally everything seems to be back to normal here - even the crazies are being crazy on the freeways hahaah. You’re doing a great job posting here every day. Keep up the good work.

Nursemom – I started my weightloss when I was 13hahahaha just kidding. I started in July of 2012. I lost 30 LBS and then I lost my dad in May of the next year. I was devastated and did nothing for 8 months after. Now I am back and feeling better than ever. At least you came back and you have goals that is what is really important. Now comes the hard work and we are all here for you and doing the same work. One second, one minute, one day at a time.

Tyla – Yesterday was kinda stressful for me so I bought a heresy’s bar and ate the whole thing. My mind is like oh your stressed and you have your tom and you gained three pounds overnight and oh you stopped smoking… go eat some chocolate. So I did and guess what I put it in my tracker and ate less for dinner and was still pretty much on plan except for my fat intake that was kinda over the top (thinking of your skinny latte). Anyway my ramble here is… no matter what you eat track it and you sound like you already got that.

Here is my food so far for the day:

Breakfast: Coffee, Half and half, 2 scrambled eggs
Snack: Dannon light and fit Greek yogurt
Lunch : Salad, cheese and pepperoni pizza (I ate the top only) I am on no wheat, no gluten and no sugar so to me this in op
Snack: String cheese and almonds
Dinner: will be vodka, soda water, lime; GF chicken tacos at cheesecake factory these are perfect they wrap all of these veggies and chicken in sturdy lettuce and give you some really good salsa and guac. Its my fav meal. Low carb. Low calorie and YUMMY!

Sept2012, glad to see you back! You're doing great with your food today. :cp: I'm going to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner, too. I'm having 1/2 a chicken salad sandwich with a small green salad. That's my favorite place to eat and that's my favorite sandwich. It's all in my calorie range, too. :)

If you can, stay off that scale. It was bringing me down and making me want to give up. Not getting on it for a while.

Since I started my journey, I have only been buying snacks in 100 calorie single serving size packs. Today for the first time I bought a large pk of Chex Mix. I wanted to open the bag on the way home and dig in but I didnt. I am going to divide out the servings and put in zip lock bags. This will be a huge challenge for me but I am determined to stay in control. I am a huge junk food binger.

Thanks GettinFit, like you said it's one day at a time.:) I am having a problem getting all of my calories in. Sometimes they are ridiculously low on really low carb days but I'm not hungry. I was reading a new post and the worry with that appears to be slowing down my metabolism and losing muscle since I'm not doing any strength training just cardio. I guess I'll figure it out one day :) We'll both get off the meds, prayerfully this year :)

Tyla - Superbowl wasn't a problem for me. I was invited to a party but didn't really want to go so I stayed home. I snacked on some Chex mix and had 1 glass of wine and stayed in control of my eating. I hope everyone else did okay.

On Wednesday, I will be joing Weight Watchers @ Work and I am excited about that. I look forward to the group meeting each week. That will force me to track. It's a challenge for me to track calories or Points and I know that I need to be doing it right now.

On to day 45 of being back OP :cb: I can really see the changes in my body and my clothes are fitting so much better.

Thanks everyone for your warm welcomes! All of you have come so far and are such inspirations. I was able to bike for 20 minutes this weekend. I know it doesn't sound like much but after having surgery on my foot, I have not been weight bearing for almost 10 weeks. I am going to make a mini goal of trying to bike every other day this week. My weight has not moved but at least it hasn't gone up! Here's to a great week!

Hello Tyler, looks like we have both missed a few days of checking in. I have not fallen completely off the wagon but I have not been tracking nor working out. I did splurge on some Girl Scout cookies over the weekend but for the most part, I have been pretty much in control of my eating. Today I must start back tracking my Points and eating more wholesome foods. The start of my Weight Watchers meeting has been moved to 2/26 and I was so looking forward to getting started with it last week.

Day 17

So far oatmeal, raisins - Gotta go to the dentist now for check-up - no cavities!
Hubby took the day off, so we went out to lunch - ate half
Dinner - oatmeal, raisins

Oops, already missed a day haha

Day 2
B: One slice of toast with banana granola peanut butter (sounds weird, but it was really yummy)
L: A bowl of homemade (healthy!) chicken fried rice
D: Turkey and swiss sandwich sandwich with chips and a small cupcake
S: I went a little snack crazy at night. I had a Cosmic brownie and some cookies.

And Day 3
B: Iced coffee and a pop tart
L: Chicken fried rice
D: Buffalo Wild Wings! Eeeeek! Good thing I went light the rest of the day.
S: Cheese stick

I'm back :)

I haven't been totally off the wagon but I have not posted in a while. Been super busy but I am committing to posting here again. I have been keeping my weight around 222--225 but now it's time to get out of the 220s!

Today starts day 1 and I will be following Weight Watchers.

Weighed this morning and I'm 223.8. I am going to work hard to get out of the 2s by the end of summer. Eating was okay yesterday and today should be okay too.

The plan:
B: hashbrowns, banana, coffee
L: SmartOne, YoCrunch yogurt
S: 6 small ginger cookies, orange
Exercise: Firm DVD

Still going strong. The scale has dropped to 222. Hoping to reach 219 by the end of April.

Back on the wagon for 3 days now. Hope to keep it going because I feel so much better when I'm eating right and exercising.

I'm back on the wagon and going strong. I'm enjoying following the Weight Watchers plan this time. I have been OP with eating and exercise for over a week now and I'm so excited.
