Default My Old T-Shirts

I have finally gotten around to sifting through my clothes and pulling out all the old stuff that I can't wear anymore, because it's too big!

So anyway, as I was sorting things out between the consignment/garage sale stuff, goodwill stuff and rag bag stuff, I realized that even though I swim in most of my old t-shirts, many have sentimental meanings for me. Many are from places I've been, youth group events I've put together or are remembrances of special times for me. So here's what I've come up with.

I'm going to have a quilt made, so I'll still have my memories, and the shirts won't be taking up closet space needed for the stuff I do wear. And I love the jersey sheets, so with a nice blanket for filler, that would be one awesome shirt. All the shirts have been washed many times, so shrinkage should not be an issue. So now I've added a bag for "quilt shirts".

I've also been toying with the idea of holding onto my jeans and making one big quilt with them too, but I've made a denim quilt before and it's kind of a pain in the butt, but so cozy! The jeans take up so much space though.

Sorting the clothes today was an eye opener for me in a couple of ways...reconfirmed how much I hate laundry...I had tons of clothes! and also that I'm actually doing what I've talked about doing, wrote in my journals about wanting to do for years. So, now with those clothes all out of my space, there's no going back.

Danners,

That is such a good idea! I have actually saved special clothing from my girls to do the same thing. Stuff from each of them and I'll give it to them when they get older.

Good luck.

It is a great idea. My DIL is a runner and gets a shirt from most races she runs so she had way too many. Had a great quilt made (and some pillows) so she has her memories on display in her guest room.
