100 lb. Club - Goal - 24 lbs - 30 lbs in 17 weeks

12-17-2013, 01:50 AM
In a little over 17 weeks (April 21st) it is my 2 year anniversary with my husband. I would like to be under 250 lbs by then, preferably 30 lbs lower then where I stand now in that time (273 lbs currently, 243 lbs goal). That's 24 - 30 lbs in 17.8 weeks...which is about 1.3 - 1.6 lbs a week. If I lose 35.6 lbs (2 lbs per week) I'll be happy, but I know it's not plausible to aim for 2 lbs a week. I haven't been below 250 in 2 years, and I would like to see it by then. I'm going to use this to keep track of my goals.

I am doing the paleo 80/20 lifestyle, and working out at the youfit with my sister-in-law, seeing a personal trainer once a week to keep me motivated and learn new things. I started working out last week, I started paleo about a month ago, though I haven't been following it as closely as I have wanted. Once I get paid I would like to push myself further into the paleo lifestyle to help boost this change for myself, and get healthy.

Anyone want to try to lose 24 - 30 lbs by April 21st? :) The more the merrier. :carrot:

I'm up for a challenge, April 20 is my birthday so it makes a good day goal for me.

12-17-2013, 12:44 PM
Sweet! Welcome aboard! :)

12-17-2013, 12:54 PM
I will join. I think that is a doable goal to work towards and achieve. My food plan is for diabetics customized by a R.D. I alternate cardio with strength exercises with free weights.

See my ticker for my weight. I will add another ticker below that to track my progress of doing this challenge.

I don't think I can do tickers yet. I think I need 20 posts before I can. I'll put one up once I get to that point. :) Welcome!

12-17-2013, 02:37 PM
Good luck!

12-17-2013, 03:15 PM
pam good idea with the ticker for this goal, hopefully will help keep me even more focused (especially at this time of year!).

mylove thanks for starting this challenge, I was looking for one to help me get going.

I'm doing weight watchers as my plan and I won't be aiming to lose quite as much weight as ya'll (although it would be spectacular LOL). I just did the conversion (I work in metric) and realised that would be under my goal weight. So I've made it my challenge to get to goal by my birthday which should be very doable. But considering how long I've been losing weight we'll see. And who knows I might get there faster and reassess my goal to lower.

12-18-2013, 01:06 PM
When I looking back over this past year the period of time that I did lose the most weight over a period of a specific time was to be more specific about my daily goals. I joined a short term weight loss challenge. We used an excel spreadsheet format which we checked off the specific "to do" things to keep our weight loss and exercising momentum going. I had never done anything like this before and I will admit it is very effective in helping a person to lose weight. I did take over for awhile and tweaked the morphed challenge (it started several years ago on another paid site I used to belong to that one of the members started with her group.)

I still have my version of this spreadsheet. I would need an email address to send it to you but then you can work on it from your computer from that point on. If anyone here is interested in joining me in following this "challenge" let me know in the next couple of weeks. I thought about starting it on January 6th, which is the first Monday of January. It runs 8 weeks, you report each week and then at the end of the 8 week's whomever loses the most weight is deemed the "winner" of that 8 week challenge.

jitterfish: I love your cookie quote. Yes, it does get down to that, doesn't it? At some point, you may have to stare down a fair share of cookies but who's the boss now? :D

Mozzy I love your quote too. Aim for losing 5 lbs 20x and there is your 100 lbs. lost!

mylove0mylife: You should be able to create a ticker within a short period of time. Be patient.

Okay, so what is everyone doing to avoid regaining any weight during the next two weeks? I have decided that I am going to allow myself two of my favorite foods and then only have one single serving of each per day between Christmas Day and New Year's Day. I am doing no baking nor buying of any additional cookies, cakes, etc. I actually do have a goal this coming year of losing a little more than 100 lbs and in order to do that I can not afford to "misuse" the next two weeks. It is my hope to be in maintenance this time next year.:carrot:

Take care all and have a great day, Pam :comp:

Pam, I'm so in! I love excel sheets...they're like my addiction for some strange reason. I would love to see what you guys did, and maybe tweak it a little (OCD) to fit what we want to do. :)

We'll just need to stick with it, and we got this! I'm aiming for 8.2 lbs this month (3% of my body weight) for a Diet Bet challenge, but I think having more to push myself is going to help me.

12-19-2013, 01:06 PM
Well, I haven't lost any weight yet since Monday but I am doing pretty good with my food plan. This afternoon DH and I will do our Christmas week grocery shopping (I want to avoid the crowds). I spotted some diet hot chocolate last time so I want to pick that up. My plan for the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day, which is usually the worst week of the entire year for me in terms of overeating, is to simply stick to what I have been doing but allow myself a couple of favorites: mixed nuts and some chocolate but only one single serving per day. I may not lose the last week of this month but I certainly don't want to gain either.

How is everyone else doing? Has anyone lost anything since agreeing to this challenge? I count calories but I also follow a customized weight loss plan for diabetics so I also have to watch my carbs as well as fats and proteins. I do alternate days with cardio and strength training.

I am presently working on the excel sheet with the 8 week weight loss challenge. Of course, you are free to change anything about it. I got it third hand from another group that I was in so it has changed probably some since it was originated several years ago. I have just found that it highlights a lot of key elements in losing weight and if you stick with it faithfully, you do see results on the scales. Guaranteed. When I get it ready I will let you know and they you will have to PM with your email address so I can send it to you.

Take care all, Pam :comp:

12-19-2013, 02:18 PM
Weighed in today, was happy with the results. Made sure to weigh twice to make sure it wasn't a glitch on my scale (happens sometimes.)

Highest Weight: 279
Start Weight for 30 lb Challenge: 273
Weigh-in On: 12/19/13 - 270.2 (-2.8 lbs)

Total Pounds Lost: 8.8

12-19-2013, 03:59 PM
Pam I'm totally in, will pm you my email addie. I find challenges such a good motivator.

My Xmas plan is to remember that Xmas is ONE day of the year, not a season. So I'm trying to stay on plan as normal, except Xmas day I am allowing myself to eat whatever I like, no moderation. If I gain a few pounds because of it so be it. But I suspect that won't happen, I was out at a buffet last night and I was surprised at how little I really wanted to eat, and my portion size was a lot smaller than those around me and I wasn't even really trying.

Today I weighed in (usually weigh a couple times a week, helps to keep me on track especially before the weekend) and I was 175.5lb. Hope that it will stay like that, Friday is always my hardest day because it is just me and the kids and I tend to deviate from plan more.

My biggest challenge actually is I have the kids home for the next month, so little exercise and lots of temptation. But I want to be at 172lb by 14 Jan (my daughters 5th birthday) so hopefully that short term goal will help.

12-20-2013, 03:05 PM
mylove and jitterfish: I will send you both the spreadsheet when I finish cleaning it. This is my copy so it is filled and I want to make a couple of small changes as well. Thanks Addie for the email address. If you still want to join mylove please send me a PM with your email address. I am starting this on January 6th since I am also sending it to some of my other friends in another group. It combines all of the key elements needed to lose weight. Addie, hopefully, the exercise part of this challenge will help keep you going during that month recess.

Well, I was looking at the calendar and realized that tomorrow is the first official day of winter so I decided to make my mini goal of losing 25% of my weight between December 21-March 21st (the official first day of spring). So, my tickers will have each season's theme as well. I feel losing 26 lbs in 13 weeks should be doable.

Addie, I too have used that same strategy to be more careful when at the holiday parties. I have also decided that since Christmas is only one day a year that I don't have to act that I will never see some of this food ever again so I won't be overeating. I am allowing myself 25% extra calories above my calorie range on Christmas Eve or Day and then back to "normal" the following day.

Good luck everyone and great job mylove for your 2+ lbs weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Take care, Pam :comp:

12-20-2013, 09:02 PM
I don't believe I can send PMs yet. It's not showing me the option to send anything.

12-21-2013, 12:21 PM
My love, I would like to join you if you don't mind. That is very close to the goal I am reaching for in the same amount of time. I am also doing the Primal/Paleo diet and love it. I'm down nearly 50lbs at this point in 18 weeks. I have a bit more ambitious goal of being down 31lbs by the 12th of April. Pamatga I would like to join you too. I'll send you my email address. Good luck on your 25% goal too!

Starting Weight: 266.4

Goal lose: 31.3 By April 12th (16 Weeks or 1.95 per week)

12/28: 266.4 - Well, at least it's not a gain.
1/4: 267 well that is the wrong direction.

Actual Ending Weight:
Goal Weight: 235.1

12-21-2013, 01:34 PM
mylove What date in December did you join? You might have to be a member for 21-30 days before you will both be able to post a ticker (and I can help with you that when the time comes) as well as PM. Just keep posting and we will see when those options "open up" for you as January 6th approaches. I can always post here on this thread what information is on the spreadsheet initially so you can still work the plan until you can actually send me your e-mail and I can send you a copy. Just be patient. It will all work out.

therecovering: I got your PM and I replied. Again, I am working on cleaning up my copy and when I finish that I will send you and others who have asked a blank copy for your own use. We still have two weeks so everyone be patient.

Well, I was OP (on plan) with my food plan yesterday. As you can see I changed my ticker. I have a pocket calendar and realized that today is the first official day of winter so I set my mini-goal to try to lose 25% of my weight per season. I know this sounds kind of gimmicky but I am also going to change my ticker according to the seasons. It just adds some color to my posts (as someone once noted) and it is kind of fun too. So, by March 21st I want to lose 26 lbs which is 2 lbs a week and at my weight that I am now, I think doable.

I realize that some of the weight that I am currently "wearing" is water weight so the first week will probably see the most significant drop but I will take it. I have had a real roller coaster ride this past fall so I am really ready to hunker down. I am ignoring the holidays coming up. I ate OP for both Thanksgiving and the Advent party we went to at our church so I am confident that I can handle Christmas Day; especially since I am in charge of the kitchen. :D I am allowing myself 25% over my highest calories for that day but that day only. I read somewhere that if you overeat by 500 calories, it should not impact your existing weight too much. We'll see....;)

Tomorrow, we are invited to a friend's house for light hor 'doeuvres and drink. Since it is in the middle of the afternoon, I am going to make sure that I have mostly raw veggies and lean meats with only one ping pong ball sized dessert item.

Keep up the good work, all Pam :comp:

Hi ladies,

Pamagta and Mylove, I will join both! Pamagta, I sent a PM with my email;) are we doing Monday weigh ins?

For the 17 weeks, I will shoot for 30 lbs. I am averaging about 2lbs per week now so should work out for me.

Starting: 216

Goal: Lose 30lbs by April 21st

Excited to be joining in!

12-21-2013, 04:59 PM
The more the merrier. Pam, I joined Dec 17th, so I'm fairly new, lol. I think it's 20 days, that's how long it is to get a signature at least. :)

12-22-2013, 05:04 PM
Two Days "OP" for me. For me, this means staying within the calorie range that my diabetes weight loss food plan recommends. Yesterday, I did even better and even stayed within my carbs, fats and proteins for this same meal plan. I stared down some chocolate bridge mix and mixed nuts last night since I had already eaten all of my calories by saying to myself "You can have those (a single serving of course) tomorrow." It worked. :carrot:

mylove I counted the days on the calendar and that should mean that you can send and receive PMs as well so you will be able to get the spreadsheet by the time we start.

buffy: Yes, this weight loss challenge spreadsheet will start on Monday January 6th and so we will report our weekly weight loss to the group on Mondays moving forward at that time. Now, I have also been in mixed groups where some people have weigh ins dates like Fridays from other groups they report to and we always allowed that, provided the person stated that it was on Friday.

I will explain more as the time gets closer. 2014 is going to be our year, everyone! We can do this!:cheer2:

Take care, Pam :comp:

12-22-2013, 05:19 PM
Thanks Pam. :)

I would like everyone who decided to join this mini-challenge to give me their opinion and/or vote. I feel that since you created this thread mylove that I would really like your opinion on this.

I have finished editing the excel spreadsheet that I have offered for us to use to help us with losing the weight we all have decided upon. I sent a test copy to myself and one other person to make sure that it will "email" correctly. Ideally, I want all of the bugaboos worked out before we start so we can just dive right in.

This is my idea: Since it can be fun to generate more participation and also ultimately discussion, what do you think about me creating a new thread with the title of the 8 week weight loss challenge as its header and an open invitation to any one here on the site to join in. I think though we should limit it to 30 people or it can get to be a real bear for the administrator (which would be me initially). Since part of the challenge is reporting your weekly weigh in and results once a week, people will have to at least check in once a week but we can still chat here as well, if everyone wants. I don't want this to mean it is ending this group that has just started. It just allows me to check everyone's progress because then I will be reporting how each and everyone is doing. Usually, there is some award of some kind at the end of the 8 weeks given to the person who lost the most weight. If there is a tie than it goes to the most body fat percentage lost between the two.

I will PM you mylove with this same post so you can let me know how you feel.

Pam :comp:

Start Weight for 30 lb Challenge: 273
Weigh-in On:

12/27/13 - 268.6 (-1.6 lbs)
Total Pounds Lost: 4.4 lbs

12-29-2013, 05:22 PM
mylove: Great job on the 4.4 lbs. lost thus far. I will send you a PM on January 5th when your waiting period is over regarding the 8 week weight loss challenge spreadsheet that you showed interest in before. You are doing great.

Although my weight loss remains the same, as far as I know, I still feel a great victory for me since I have always gained weight over the holiday season so for me to lose anything is nothing short of a miracle.

I am ready for 2014. Let's do it!

Hi ladies,
Lots of sick folks at my house. I slipped some today. But, back on track...it made me feel ill :^:

Congrats MyLove!:carrot:

12-31-2013, 03:05 PM
Sorry to hear so many are sick at your house, BuffieLynn. I do hope that we avoid that but with so many people out this time of year and pushing themselves to get so much done in a short amount of time, it is not surprising.

I take Emergen-C along with some great multi-vitamins specifically designed for those who are losing weight as well as Omega-3 pills. I take this year round. Since I have had an allergic reaction to the flu shot in past years, I opted out of that this fall. Hope that was the right decision to make.

Take care all and have a safe and happy celebration tonight, Pam:hat::newyear:

FYI: For those of who here who have expressed an interest in being a part of the Moving Forward Structured 8 Week WL Challenge that uses an excel spreadsheet, I have sent the spreadsheet today to all of those who have PM me. It begins on this coming Monday, January 6th. Come prepared to give your first weekly weigh-in. Please look over the first week listed on the first worksheet of the spreadsheet to see what will be expected of you as well as with any questions. I have created a separate thread for reporting to this challenge. You will need to at least report your weekly weigh in on Mondays to be eligible for any prize awards at the end of the 8 weeks.

I am interested in joining your challenge. I will PM you my email.

I just remembered that I don't have Excel at home, I use openoffice.org. I have excel at work, though.

01-03-2014, 12:38 PM
Well, I was finally able to change my ticker. :woohoo: We had a traditional ham dinner with yams, black-eyed peas and peach cobbler for dessert on New Year's Day so I waiting for that to flush out.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Again, for those of you who have shown interest in doing the structured 8 week weight loss challenge, please report on Monday or Sunday night, if that works better for your schedule, and post your first weekly weigh in as well as your measurements in key areas:upper arm, bust, waist, hips, upper thighs and calves.

For those of you who do not have excel on their personal computer at home, if you sign up for a free Google (I am not advertising them just telling you your option) account, Google Drive will convert any documents so you can both read and work in them, including Word and Excel. Just thought I would pass that on.

Take care everyone, Pam :comp:

01-09-2014, 03:28 PM
I keep checking here but I don't see much activity. Has everyone else dropped their challenge or taken it elsewhere. Please clue me in. I am also in the 240s lbs thread under 100 lbs Club as well as leading a structured 8 week weight loss thread under Support Groups "Moving Forward 8 Week Weight Lose Challenge".

Take care all and hope you are moving closer to your goals.
