Goal! - Goal 299 to 135 :D

View Full Version : Goal 299 to 135 :D

edit: 07/16 : i just added a post on this thread with a flipagram video on page 6 : http://flipagram.com/f/FPpfVxvnN2 . weighing in at 135-140 :( but still working to stay in the 130s :D

__________________________________________________ ___________________

I officially weighed in at 135 this past week, so I am calling it GOAL. I made a post in this section a few months ago when I hit 151, thinking that perhaps that would be my goal, but here I am again :D

A little about me:
I am 26 years old. I’ve been overweight most of my life, but really became obese in high school and college. I joined 3fc in 2008 and went from about 275 to 240, only to regain it and some.

I restarted my diet and exercise in April of 2011. I had gone on a road trip with a friend and while I had a great time I couldn’t believe that was me when I looked at pictures. I had to board a plane during this road trip, and the seatbelt wouldn't fit. I was mortified. When I got back from my vacation, I weighed in at 299 pounds. Through healthy eating and exercise, I reached 135 last week. I might strive for about 5 more pounds to give me a cushion, but I think that I’m done.

Here are some pics:
I have face pics on my blog link, but they may come down as I’m weirded out by internet sometimes lol.
In these pics I am at about 280+ in the before shots. The most recent shot of me is in the black dress and the blue shirt and I’m at 135. I went from a size 22 to a size 4.
Thanks for reading :D and thanks to 3fc for motivating me.

12-02-2013, 04:33 PM
You look great! Congratulations!

12-02-2013, 06:11 PM
You look amazing!! I have a question, but you totally don't have to answer if it makes you uncomfortable to talk about. How is your skin? I'm going to keep losing weight regardless, but I'm definitely worried about loose skin. I know a big factor is genetics etc but it's nice to know :)

Truly inspirational!!! You look great!

12-03-2013, 03:01 PM
Thank you all for your kind words :D

For the poster who asked about loose skin, I don't mind talking about it at all. I worried when I first started losing weight about loose skin, and all the threads I looked at said it's determined by a lot of factors (age, strength training involved, your own skin's elasticity). For me, I do have loose skin in places. My arms are bat-wingy when I lift them ( at the top). They've improved from they way they were though. My legs are pretty toned, except one little area near the top top of my thighs (and it's so slight, I probably only notice it). I''m pretty happy with how my legs and arms turned out.

The worst for me is I definitely have saggy skin on my lower stomach. It's not terrible, but I won't be able to wear a bikini comfortably. My stomach is flat, but it's not hard. It's not flabby either. It's hard to describe. it's like I have loose skin and a slight pooch.
I'm hoping a year in maintenance and more strength training will help, but if not I'm okay with that. I might consider getting surgery down the road, but that's a big step and I'm not sure I feel the need for it. Hope that answers your question, lanabug! If not, feel free to PM me or add another message to this thread.

Wow! You look amazing! My new goal is to make it under 200 pounds, but your story makes me think maybe it's possible I could continue on and actually be skinny one day. Looking at your pictures I would never ever know you were ever heavy.

12-05-2013, 02:35 PM

You're the kick in the tush I needed to keep going. You look amazing. That must have been a lot of hard work and diligence.

12-10-2013, 05:46 PM
thank you, everyone!! I appreciate all the kind words and messages :D

For those who asked, I didn't have a specific diet plan. I counted my calories, and they ranged from 1200 to 1900. When I first started, I was at 1200, but it was very hard to maintain that so I started switching it up and making it higher (especially if I exercised). I also started slowly working out, and adding more intensity and length as I got fitter.

Big Rooster: haha sure, I'll be a hen!

I just took some "before" selfies (tho after a 21-lb loss already so kind of "after before" hee ).

I can't wait to take GOALLLLLLL selfies. It'll be awhile, tho.

12-17-2013, 12:26 PM
Holy cow! You are amazing, girl!!! Look how many people here you've inspired, myself included. Congratulations on all your hard work. http://www.soulcysters.net/images/smilies/congrats.gif

As for any loose skin, keep in mind that while maintaining your weight it can take your skin up to a year, sometimes longer, to tighten up a bit more after a big weight loss. To help the process along naturally, start skin brushing. It will tighten up your skin from head to toe, diminish any cellulite if that's a problem and make your skin baby soft. Once you get the hang of it (there are lots of instructional videos on youtube, but always remember to brush all areas towards the heart), it only takes a few minutes each morning before your shower. It's also rather addicting, too...in a great way!

12-18-2013, 09:54 AM
You look amazing! And great inspiration!

What type of exercise did you do?

12-19-2013, 04:52 PM
thanks all :D
Sandcar: I've never heard of that before, I'm going to watch a video on it and then try it. Thanks!

watchoutforthatcar: Thank you! When I first started, I was doing cardio (elliptical) for about 45 minutes, may be around 2-4 times a week (if I was good).
As I lost weight, I really got into working out. I've added running, hiking, weights, and gym. I probably was exercising 5-7 times a once I hit about 200 pounds earlier this year--lthough I had a back injury so I haven't exercised in about 7 weeks.
I had summer off from work, and that's when I was able to put in the 5-7 times, versus when I started work again it went down to about 4-5 times a week (and I switched it up to having like two gym days, a hike day, and a run day). It got easier when I made it a routine. I definitely don't think exercise is the way to lose weight, but it' s helpful. Even without exercise I lost weight, but it was just harder and I feel healthier when I incorporate it into my schedule. Hope that helps!

This is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard (and one thing I will never tell people IRL that I do). I've been doing it, tho, and I hope it works. At any rate, actually doing it isn't that weird and does feel good. It just feels like the REASON I'm doing it is whacky, ya know?

I'm also using a homemade scrub I made out of coconut oil, olive oil, Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap, and raw sugar which is great as an exfoliator. I figure that at least it won't hurt in esp. on my stretch marks hydrating my skin.

12-29-2013, 11:01 AM
Congrats! That is so amazing and I bet you feel like a million bucks :) You look fantastic!

12-29-2013, 03:20 PM

Wow! What an inspiration! I love your socks in the fitting room picture. I am so inspired, though. I totally understand about the face thing, too. I feel the same way about the Internet. Once things are on it, they never go away. . .

01-02-2014, 08:49 PM
Congratulations, wow!

Did you follow a particular eating plan? I saw your post on the exercise you did, but wondering if you followed WW or Paleo or what? Calorie counting? Or was this all strictly done with exercise?

Congrats again, you inspire me!

01-03-2014, 12:19 AM
That is Awesome!!! I started at 300lbs, dropped down to 142 lbs. I'm currently staying between 160-175lbs after health issues and a back injury but am on my way back down. You are definitely an inspiration, you look amazing!

thank you so much. I always looked at these goal posts for inspiration, so I'm happy that I can contribute now.
I calorie counted. When I first started it was extreme (I think I was like at 1200 calories) but I quickly upped my calories depending on my exercise. I settled somewhere between 1400-1800 calories depending on the day. I used MFP for a long time, but after awhile, I didn't need it and I could mentally track most of my food. Hope that helps!

@kisskiss: Congrats!!! Wow you are totally an inspriation. I have a question for you since we are similar in age... you're a wee bit taller than me, but how did you skin bounce back after losing that much weight? I was at a similar weight starting point.. about 289.8, and am trying to get to 139. I'm almost near a 100lbs. lost and starting to incorporate more strength and muscle training workouts to build muslce and tone my body... but I'm worried a little bit that not everything will shrink.

Looking at your pics though you look fabulous, and very well defined... what helped you get to that point? Any tips or suggestions?

I hope I look as good as you do when I'm at goal! Kudos!

03-03-2014, 02:48 PM
thanks everyone!

Dybbuk: thanks you :D
my skin has been pretty good. my legs are pretty toned thanks to hiking. My arms (which had batwings before) arent' terrible. The skin is loose, but I'm hoping more weights and time will tighten it a bit.

my problem area is my tummy. With clothes I have a flat tummy, even without it looks pretty good. But, I can definitely pinch the extra skin forward. Not to great. i'll never wear a bikini. But, overall, I think my loose skin was very minimal considering I've lost 150+ pounds. I hope that with more strength training I will tighten up more. I might consider surgery in the future, but right now I'm happy :D
GOod luck on your journey You can do this!

03-03-2014, 03:31 PM
You should be happy! You look phenomenal. :) I'm actually very glad to hear that. My problem area has been my legs but I've doing some running and lots and lots of squats/lunges/etc to get them in better shape. I still have some batwing action going on, but your arms look really pretty so I'm hoping as I lose the last bit they will get smaller and I can work on toning them up. ^^

I think that is where my tummy is headed too. There just a pooch of fat that is stubborn and won't shrivel away, but you know... you have a great attitude about this and you look great and it shows!! Thanks for taking time to answer... can't wait to get myself down to goal now! :)

03-03-2014, 04:04 PM
kisskiss, you look great :) Thanks for sharing :)

03-03-2014, 05:15 PM
kisskiss you look wonderful.. Thanks for your wonderful story of your weight loss journey.

This will help me to be mind full of everything I put into my mouth. And those days I don't want to exercise.

How long did it take you. Don't remember if it was mentioned before.

03-03-2014, 06:06 PM
mam1958: thank you :D

I started in April of 2011 and reached goal in the beginning of December 2013. so over 2 and half years to around lose 166 pounds. In 2011, I only lost only about 25 pounds (I wasn't as dedicated). in 2012, I lost about 70 pounds, and finally in 2013 I lost the remainder of about 70 pounds

03-14-2014, 04:31 PM
When I look back at pictures- I caught myself saying "whoa, I didn't realize how big I was". Very motivating story! You look amazing!

07-17-2014, 02:59 PM

I've been weighing in at around 135-140 for awhile now, and i was getting super depressed about it. 125-135 is my goal, and I've seen it a few times but I can't seem to stay there. I've been hard on myself, and I feel so unsuccessful at times.

My boyfriend told me that I need to look at before pictures more frequently, to remind myself that I have done it. I'm not at where I want to be (realistically 135), but I've come a long way. so after looking at old pictures I made a flipagram ^^see above with pictures before and after. It reminded me that I can do this and I've come so far. I have nothing to feel bad about. I will lose these 5-10 pounds, and regardless I am at a healthier place than I was when I was 299 pounds :D

07-18-2014, 12:50 AM
Kisskiss, you are definitely an inspiration. Sometimes, we all need to stop and remember how far we've come to remind us that we have made progress. And with how small you are now and how active you are, it's not hard to imagine that while your weight may be hovering, you're probably still toning up and potentially losing inches. Congratulations on all that you've accomplished!

07-18-2014, 06:02 AM
