I'm in! I'm going to go for 6 lbs again, but I'm going to wait until Dec. 1 to give my official start weight since I know I'm up a few lbs because of Thanksgiving. I don't know if I'll be able to drop any of it in just two days, but we'll see! Thanks Joy! :D

Sign me up! I think expressing my frustrations has really helped me move on. That and realising I really really need to get back on track! I'm not sure what I'm starting at exactly, so I have an estimate of 66kgs  (All that hard work ). Realistically, I want to lose 1kg, so my goal at the moment is 65kgs. Once my TOM has finished I'll come back with better starting/ending numbers, but the 1kg goal will remain.

Thanks again for everyone's kind words. They helped a lot :)

Let me be the first Fat Rooster to welcome you into 3 Fat Chicks Misty ;)

I took the liberty of clicking your link, which I seldom do, to read that you are named Misty, the same name of my daughter, and live in Moab, the most beautiful place on earth, where I have longed to live for 40 years myself. WOW yer lucky :D

Also, in reading the "about you" page, what I read letting others down and being misunderstood could have been written by myself. There are some things just beyond our control that we must accept.

I also will be in the Dec challenge with my goal of 12 lbs. I did not make my first two months challenge but instead of going lower this month, I am going back to my first goal of 12 lbs loss. I think I have a better resolve this time and understanding of the failures of the past two. I kinda quit trying for a while and it shows. I started out with too small of caloric intake which though yielded great loss, resulted in me feeling like crap. Had to increase intake and get back to feeling better, experimenting along the way. Took in too many for a while and developed a few bad habits along the way which I am correcting now. Realizing I needed to take in more gave the excuse to eat snacks when I did not need to, kinda like that trying to quit smoking thing, "Well, one more cigarette (sandwich/banana/pomegranate/etc) won't matter" sort of thing. Only with eating, that is something we have to do and learn to control, with tobacco, alcohol and other addictive habits, one simply stops altogether instead of having to control (practically impossible) the habit.

My weigh in will wait til the first along with my final weigh in for November til tomorrow. I weighed this morning and show up almost 2 lbs over last week, which is water or something, I know I have an actual loss and hope it shows up tomorrow.

I LOVE december, maybe sometimes too much. I'll be putting up my Christmas decorations this week, and I love how my house looks when it is so glittery :)

I broke even in November, which is better than gaining so I'll take it. Honestly whenever I set a goal in this thread I get nowhere so this month I am just going to make my goal in this thread staying on plan more than I have been.

I know that isn't really in the spirit of the challenge but I want to keep with the weigh in and the convo because you are all so supportive :)

I will weigh in tomorrow with my starting weight

I'm starting the month at 77,7kg (171.3lbs)
and would like to be 76,2kg (168lbs) at the end!

yesterday's weigh-in: 78,5kg (173lbs)
yesterday's calories: 1400
yesterday's exercise: 40min run (6k)
today's weigh-in: 77,7kg (171.3lbs)
change: -0,8kg (-1,7lbs)

Good morning you guys :)

I had a drop today! woohoo. I am really excited.
Also - it's December! I am in a really Christmassy mood :) I went to the fair for the first time this year. I saved 500calories for it (didn't eat anything at my friend's birthday brunch. Go me!), but it was so crowded, I couldn't get to the stand I wanted to buy food at. So I went for a Choc Pecan McFlurry instead :) My hands were about freezing off but I love McFlurries so it was still amazing.

Have a nice Sunday everyone and good luck for this challenge!

Happy December Everyone! :snowglo:

I'm starting out the month at 178.5. I really think that's including temporary water weight though. I think my actual weight is 177, which was my November goal weight (which I hit), and where my ticker is still set, so I'm going with a start weight of 177, despite what the scale says today. I want to make it to 171, so my goal is 6 lbs. :crossed:

My starting weight is 237.1, this mornings weigh in
So my goal of -12 = 225.1

I probably will not make it, but gonna try hard. For Thanksgiving I only ate two turkey sandwichs, a bowl of turkey/fideo soup, two clementines and one banana. Scale showed up 2 lbs the next day........ LOL Figure that out.

Anyway, I know I am losing fat, that set of scales is just gonna have to give up one of these days and show it. BTW, I had my 90 day doc's appt last week and her scales and mine are only 4 oz diff. So that is a purt accurate weight.

Good luck to all of you wonderful ladies, hope all of ya make those goals :D

Hmm... why does my body embarrass me? Well, I stood on the scales this morning and this was my reaction :yikes: :?:. Somehow, after all the junk, my body has come back down to 64.7kgs. :o Two days ago it was 65kgs and two days before that it was 65.9kgs. I mean, it's GREAT that it's come back down because I was freaking out knowing it would be a mission to lose that weight again, but I feel embarrassed that I was all doom and gloom about gaining. Sigh.

Anyway, after only running once since Nov 17, I've finally come back to my senses and started up again--worry free :D My goal is still 1kg = 64.7kgs to 63.7kgs. I know I won't make it, but I'm going to try my best to get close to it.

Hi everyone!!

Lots to post about as I've been away for the weekend but its late so ill be quick. Last month I only managed to lose 1 pound in the end - I had a terrible off plan cake fest weekend though so am starting the month higher than I think I would have been if I'd been better over the weekend .

So the big goal is my brothers wedding on dec 21st (I'm bridesmaid). Deep breath. Here goes. There are a myriad of potential pitfalls ahead for me in December. As I write this, I feel nervous!!

Welcome to the new people, and glad to see so many of you from last months challenge still hanging in and doing so well. :D

Joy, I keep seeing that basket of green 'maters you gathered. Too many to be frying them all. You must be making some chow chow or relish with them?? And maybe, you just might know some other good ways to cook them up? Sure would like you to share those methods if ya do :D

This morning I picked some green tomatoes off the vines, cubed them, dropped them in on a little peanut oil cooking them till they paled down some, then added an egg and some chili to them. That was my breakfast, sure was good. The green tomato only added about 30 calories, the oil about 40, egg 75 for a 150 cal high fibre low sodium very tasty breakfast that lasted me until 2 in the afternoon when I made a tunafish/egg sandwich. It is after 6 now, and I gotta decide what for dinner. Thinking of some grilled salmon with jalapena-pinto beans and a mango for dessert.

my weigh in for this month is 268! Kind of annoying since I was 265 a week or so ago... but that's what I get for eating whatever I want...

so 268/268/259 (9 lbs)

I'm 6 wks postpartum today, don't think I'll just be dropping weight any further so now need a plan... anybody want to share their plans? low cal, low carb, extra exercise, spec diet, etc? I specialize in crash diets ;) and have yet to use my HTC stuff i bought right before I found out I was pregnant... so I should give it a shot since it was rather expensive...

also the gym would be nice....

Okay, I have lost these last three pounds about 3 times now. That's got to stop! I was a good girl - stayed within points yesterday and did Turbo Jam last night (in a room full of Christmas tree and decorations - and nothing is broken). Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I'll take the extra willpower dust from all who offer.

Kelijpa - Please keep your snow up there! I love it, but only about the week before Christmas, then I want it gone. Way to go...you are going to make goal in no time the way you are moving on down the scale!

Nightangel26 - Welcome and good luck. I have had pretty good success on Weight Watchers. I track food online and don't do meetings. It works for me, but everyone has their own methods.

183StGB - It feels good, doesn't it, to break the cycle and start seeing the numbers drop. Keep up the good work.

Big FR - Your diet sounds very interesting...spicy. Where are you at that you are still picking tomatoes?

Rhiko - Way to go getting back to the exercising. I fell out of the pattern and had to jump back in. Not fun!

Joy - Thanks again for starting the thread. Looking good only a couple of days in! Way to go!

Uh oh, running out of time - Jacqui, pixikat, stilleto, Sum - and everyone else - keep up the fight and good work!!!

sweetkell - Glad you found us! Great place to get started on your journey!

Good morning!!

Minneey You can do it!! I am sure you will look wonderful at the wedding :)

welcome sweetkell!!!

183stgb if you keep it up the weight will keep coming off! and I was not eating cheese fries :( but my OP dish was yummy :)

nightangel I recently read "Why we get fat and what to do about it" it was talking about how the bodies insulin response to carbs is what causes fat and prevents fat loss. It made alot of sense so I'm giving atkins a try and so far I've been losing steadily. It has only been a couple weeks so I'll let you know how it goes

boatingmommy I will send the willpower fairy your way if I see him!

I am doing good so far, this weekend thru tuesday will be my test as I have 2 tests on tuesday. the last ones for each class.

177 again today! I think it may be a set point! It's just been so long since I've been at this low a set point, I can't remember for sure, lol! But I've been going back to 177 for going on three weeks now, and the last time I did that, it was at my 197 set point. I think that's exciting! That means my body is working out its new sweet spot, where it would be inclined to settle instead of continuing back up to 197, its next comfort spot, or even worse, 210, my highest set point! And once it adjusts to this set point, it will start heading toward an even lower one! Yay! :trampo:

183, congrats on the drop! I'm so happy for you!

:welcome2: NightAngel26! Congrats on the new baby! Don't worry about the 3-lb spike. It's just water and will drop back off! As for diets, I'm not sure what HTC is. I'm on a modified Slow Carb Diet, which is very low carb for 6 days a week with a "cheat day" the 7th day of the week. We are all different and I believe there's a successful plan out there for each of us. You just have to find what works best for you! Good luck!

Boatingmommy, good job on the Turbo Jam and avoiding the Christmas decorations, lol! :tree:

Well, darn. I weighed myself today and I'm 64.2kgs! :yikes: Holy mackerel, how did that happen? (Probably because I've stopped my midnight snacking!)

___
Rhiko No worries! I am sure we have all had our freakouts over water weight :) keep up the good work!

Thanks :D I'm glad it was only water weight because I was having lots of fizzy drinks (soda) and 3/4 of a butter cake within the week

Lol, Rhiko! Yay on the drop! :carrot:

Tee hee, thanks!

Rhiko did you go for a run? Hope it went well :)

Yes, I did get back out. I only did 3.5kms because I still had my TOM and by the 3km mark I was really sore. No worries though. Once my TOM has stopped giving me pain and grief (in a few days) I'll be back out there for a long one! My body can't wait to get back out there.

Rhiko - Way to go getting back to the exercising. I fell out of the pattern and had to jump back in. Not fun!

No, it isn't the best because the body isn't used to it. But, I'm stubborn and make my body do things it thinks it's not ready for, anyway

I'm going on my first field trip in Uni ever today -- I'm actually only going because a friend asked me to come, but I found out that next to the education part of it there is free time at the Christmas fair... and Christmas fairs are amazing :) So I'm happy.

Hello. I am joining in :) I am going to set a 2 KG goal for this month. I have my oldest son's 22nd birthday 20/12 and then Christmas. I am going to try and be reasonable without depriving myself because I really need to learn how to live with sensible portions. I have all the tools to do what needs to be done but I always look for quick fixes that I can't live with. This time I am doing everything in moderation. My big goal is just over 20 KG (45 lbs) for my 46th on 13/06 after that if I am able to keep going I will be quite pleased but a 45 pound loss will put me under 155 for the first time since 1992. God that hurts to say since my lowest in decades was after my first son was born. I lost the baby weight once, twice and almost 3 times but then just started climbing.

Hi Leeh! :welcome2: I'm so glad you're joining us! It's good that you recognize that quick fixes are not really fixes at all. Moderation is key. Just stay on plan and you'll get there! Weight fluctuates on a daily basis so don't let that water weight throw you off. It always drops away again if you stay on plan. You have some good goals and you can do this! Good luck!

I am in again this month. I didn't make it last month, only had about a 4 pound loss out of the 6 pounds I set for my goal. Last week was a seriously BAD week. By Sunday I had gone up from 230.1 to 232.7! I ate horribly and did not exercise. I am not sure what happened but I lost ALL of my will power. I am back to eating on plan but still haven't exercised:( I will shoot for 6.7 pounds again since I know some of my start weight is water. That will make it an even 70 ponds lost total!

kelijpa- you're doing amazing, it's awesome that you're already at goal! :bravo: Yes, I have found that shoveling snow is quite a workout myself...but not much snow here yet... we've had strange rainstorms then frost....odd this time of year (Vermont)

Rsadler126- good goal, and some movement is better than backtracking for sure! Dory quote: "just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!" :carrot:

boatingmommy- :dust: keep going it will come! Hey being able to pull off exercise around ornaments is tough! I hope I can say the same, planning on putting the tree up today.... ty about WW...saw their new plan...my biggest problem has been and always will be moderation.... I'm a binge eater....

pnkrckpixicat- aww man in school too huh? it's hard to juggle all that stuff, I'm finally done with school myself and it's definitely hard to do family, school, work. I've heard about the insulin response and carbs and tried the Atkins, works well but be careful, I'm sure Atkins has some modifications but it's founder did die of a heart attack.... it is a successful diet though, think I lost 8lbs in a week on it... I'll tell ya though by the end I wanted to rip someone's face off for eating pasta around me.....

sum38-good job chipping away... what's your plan for loss this month? :)

turtle1- ouch...don't worry...I'm sure you're just having a minor setback.... I mean look how far you've come...I'm really impressed, and I'm sure everything will be good for you :dust:

gardenerjoy- Good morning, thanks for making the thread... I have joined many of these in the past... quite some time ago now, been so long since been on... they're very motivating. It looks like you've come a long way too.... I see you count in kg..I'm not familiar with kgs and it's hard because the doctor's offices are all converting now. I'm sure I'll catch on eventually... see you around the boards!

jacqui d- I like your positive outlook on holding numbers, good job on the loss too!! I'd be super pumped about dropping a size :encore:

rhiko- had to go look up kgs.... doesn't sound too bad, I'm sure you'll be able to bounce back....;) just keep on moving.... watch out for the holidays too, they're closing in...lol...

183stgb- nice job being accountable...crossfit, that a machine? are you building muscle? they say you might gain w muscle as it weighs more than fat... :strong:

leeh- well, I totally get how hard it is to eat in moderation....me too.... also, don't worry too much, the fact that you've lost the weight repetitively means you know you can do it and something works for you....which is awesome!

marymo-hi, and good luck... 4 lbs is fine, and reasonable especially if you might be tempted to eat lots of interesting foods for the holidays.... :)

southernbell02- hey, you had trouble and you are being accountable...now you can move on....onward and ...well downward right?!? I see you've already started too! Good to see you have a plan of attack :dust:

Let me be the first Fat Rooster to welcome you into 3 Fat Chicks Misty ;)

I took the liberty of clicking your link, which I seldom do, to read that you are named Misty, the same name of my daughter, and live in Moab, the most beautiful place on earth, where I have longed to live for 40 years myself. WOW yer lucky :D

Also, in reading the "about you" page, what I read letting others down and being misunderstood could have been written by myself. There are some things just beyond our control that we must accept.

.B F R

Thank you for the welcome BFR! I didn't see this until today because I have been traveling. The world is a small place! Moab is beautiful and it makes me happy to see other people that enjoy is as much as I do. Good luck on your goal of 12lbs! You can do this! Heck, we can do this!

Good luck to everyone! Let's start the new year ahead of everyone else!

Congrats Jacqui! You and Nightangel are awesome in your personals, it's so great to get encouragement.

DH is having outpatient surgery today, adenoid removal and such. I brought some fruit and had salad and veggie burger for lunch. I've been reading an old issue of prevention, it's pretty good, there's an article about yoga moves to help flatten your belly. I've been trying to do stretches and a couple poses everyday, i can't believe how inflexible I've become...body wise I mean...lol.

There was also an article about a woman who used self-acceptance to help in her weight loss, she lost 185 pounds with diet and exercise and treating herself with kindness instead of her usual negative self-talk. She said she went from viewing herself as a fat person who made healthy choices because she had to to viewing herself as a healthy person who made healthy choices because that's what made her happy. Interesting.

Best to all :sunny:

NightAngel26 hey, welcome to the challenge! What are you studying in school? in response to Atkins - Robert Atkins died from complications from a head trauma sustained slipping on ice. He did have a heart attack in 2002 but it was the result of an infection and not due to diet. Unfortunately the media perpetuates the rumor he died from his own diet because his autopsy report notes history of heart conditions which were from before he created his diet. Many studies have actually shown heart disease (among others) get better when following the diet properly. I feel you on the carbs cravings though, getting off them is soooooo difficult the first couple weeks, it's like a straight up addiction for me lol don't worry about not having a set plan yet, sometimes baby steps works best :)

kelijpa - I hope your husband feels well soon! sounds like you made a great choice with the hospital food. I completely feel you on the lack of flexability. keep us updated how those moves work for you!

Turtle!!! you are going the wrong way!! what gives?!?!

Minneey sounds like a great plan!!! stay strong! and if anyone eyes you funny well screw them, you need to do what is best for you, not what looks right to them :)

Good morning :)

my field trip was nice - the education part was good. The Christmas fair was nice, too. I chose food that I considered the "smart choice", but logging the calories at home I was still like: ohoh. Well, considering I could have done a lot worse, I'm still happy :) Also, I dropped some of the weight! I will go for a run after my library session today.

NightAngel26 crossfit is a fancy name for functional fitness :) A class consists of a warm-up, a 'skill' part where they teach you the Olympic lifts and a 'workout of the day', which is a circuit of different strength and cardio exercises.
I really quite enjoy it, because I usually never have the opportunity to work with weights, the group is really small and it's almost like personal training (also, everybody is really nice :))

pnkrckpixikat yeah, I figured the weight was from being sore from exercise. I'm glad it's leaving again :)

pnkrck-good job holding the line! :) About Atkins, that's very interesting...everything I've seen touts him as one of the dietitians that died from their own diet...I'll have to check that out... :book2: it does seem a successful okan and certainly carbs matter in diets...I've tried many, many diets and plans and seen a lot of success w low/no carb diets at least scale-wise.

therecoveringfatchic-looks like you're doing well...will have to check out your blog, looks like it's interesting....good luck, see you around!

kelijpa- thanks for the kind words....some days I'm on it, some days I'm a shadow...lol. Stretching can be great, especially leg and thigh if you want a little more range of motion... I used to do it and really had less aches when doing cardio and could do more reps. Prevention is a neat mag, and not overly expensive as magazines go.... I think anyone with the mind power to overcome set thinking is amazing it's so hard to do. It's been fun responding to this post.... also mkaes me want to dig out my fitness mags.... I've been tossing them in a box during my pregnancy and it's probably time to revisit. Hope you have a good day! :twirly:

turtle11: good job dropping, everything counts!

minneey: it sure is easy to get off track huh? I have trouble too when away... though I can't decide if I'm worse when I'm not on here or worse and then do not come on because of it...might depend on the day. Here, :dust: now you can sparkle! also :bravo: for packing and planning that tends to help a lot!

lyn77- Welcome! late is better than never... join us and good morning! :coffee2:

I was just told today that I will be laid off in January. I'm trying to negotiate a severance package now. Someone please wish me luck and add me to your prayer list if you can. I worked there for over 12 years.

I will definitely add you to my prayer list. It won't make you feel any better now, but in my experience these events have ALWAYS led to better things. Chin up!

Darius - prayers said. I hope all works out for you with your severance package. Hang in there!

I wish I had time this morning to leave everyone a note, but I am very short on time. There is sleet falling here, and it's going to take me a longer time to get to work. I am wishing you all a great day/night!

lyn welcome!! better late than never right

183 Im glad it is going down again! And good for you for making the smart choices at the fair, if you start feeling bad about how you did look up some of the counts for the things you passed up and that may help you feel proud of how well you did. Good Job!

NightAngel26 if you are interested in looking into the science of it I recommend "Why We Get Fat And What To Do About It" by Gary Taubes he looks at different studies and explains everything really clearly. Congrats on the drop! Staring at the ice cream drooling has got to burn calories, the walk over, pulling the door open, the chill from the freezer makes your body work to sustain your temp. and will power to still say no has GOT to burn some right? lol

darius omg how horrible :( I will keep you in my thoughts

sum slowly but surely it is coming down, KEEP IT UP!

boatingmommy fun! a three day weekend! I'm sure you will do great! In the weight loss support forum (i think!) is a parties thread where you can report on what you are going to and after how you did, go fill that out on what you plan to do so you know that after you have to report in, might help keep you on track :)

I am continuing to do well on low carb, I think my saving grace is sugar free syrups for my coffee, if i start craving sweets I just pour some syrup in my coffee and it is all good :)

Darius - pants news! Such a stressful thing to go through. Twelve years is a long time and it must feel like a big loss. Take care and take time to adjust - oh and try to avoid comfort eating (is that just me !?)

Jacqui - maybe 177 is behind you at last? I've got a good feeling for you.

183 - crossfit sounds fun, I don't have it at my gym but I'm always looking for new things. I'm leaving my job at the end if December and will have a bit of time for my next challenge. Any good ideas?!

Good morning you guys :)

It's the 6th of December - in Germany we call this Nikolaustag :) The night before, you leave your shoes outside your door, if you've been good that year, it will be filled with treats, if not, a twig. Since I don't live with my parents anymore, I refrained from putting my shoes out this year ;)

I know we don't talk about this kind of stuff on here, but Nelson Mandela died :( I lived in South Africa, so I know the impact he had on people's lives. His death is a big loss for the world. I found this on my facebook feed this morning though: 'You be the next Mr Mandela who looses theirself for the welbeing of others.' the English isn't the best, but I really liked the message :)

Anyways, I myself have an exam later this afternoon. My first one this semester, so I'm quite anxious. But I studied, and that's about as much as can be done ;) Will be fine.

NightAngel26 3lbs over night is a really nice woosh! Well done!

darius I am SO SO sorry you are being let go at your job :( terrible news before Christmas :( Hope you find something else soon.

pnkrckpixikat haha, yeah, I actually did look up the worse choices' calorie counts, and that made me happy. The thing is, the Christmas fair is only once a year, so I don't want to refrain from everything totally, I think it's about making conscious choices. Also -- nice drop! :D

Jacqui_D It's going down! Nice :)

Minneey Crossfit really is fun. In my city, it's a whole gym just for it; but I'm not sure how it works because I take a class from school so I always go at the same time. It's really challenging, I enjoy it, and I definitely recommend it. You need to find out for yourself though, because it really depends on the gym and the trainer.
I feel the same way as you though! If I have a taste of something, I feel like I need to eat all of it!! That's why I only buy treats in single-serving portions.

Happy Friday everyone :)

hey all! my power is out so I am writing on my phone so I will keep it brief. I forgot to weigh today cause of the power and the weather outside and whatnot. I'm expecting a bump up since we ordered pizza last night. since I'm on atkins I just ate the cheese and toppings and left the crust on my slices lol

lynn- my salted caramel after stares at me too, that one just tastes odd lol I like the white chocolate and the Belgian cookie and the brown sugar cinnamon in coffee. the berry ones are yummy in soda or plain fizzy water

I forgot who mentioned it is harder once you have a bite then none at all, I agree 100% I find myself smelling things instead too lol

Good morning :)

woohoo, I'm done with exams :) I can't actually say it went well, but I am definitely feeling relieved it's over with. Fingers crossed I passed ;) I will find out at the end of January.
I'll be making Christmas cookies with a friend this afternoon, and right now I'm very determined not to constantly be tasting. I'll take a pack of gum, which should keep me occupied. When done, I'll place them in gift bags instead of a cookie jar, so I don't feel tempted at home. Sounds like a plan? Yep. Let's hope I stick to it ;)
Anyways, today is my weekly ticker changing day, and I am glad I get to! 2lb down since last Saturday. woohoo! :belly:

NightAngel26 nah, I don't really travel a lot, unfortunately :( no money no time. I did a gap year of community service in South Africa though, that's why I love that country so much. I am German :) And my exam was a dream come true :) nah, I'm joking ;) I'm just glad I'm done until after Christmas!
Don't worry about the 2lbs, they'll be gone as quickly as they came...

kelijpa you made goal within 6 days? That's crazy. Well done!

Lyn77 Hi :) I'm sure it's water weight from the alcohol. Should be gone soon. You been good today? :P

pnkrckpixikat Atkins is mega crazy -- So you really just ate the Pizza toppings and left the crust? That's hilarious!! I don't mean that in a mean way ;) Just imagine it looking funny.

Jacqui_D Someone posted on Facebook today where the 'filling the shoes' tradition comes from - back in the day, Saint Nick would slip poor virgins pieces of gold so they wouldn't have to resort to prostitution. So today we hide treats in shoes on Saint Nick's Day. See, learned something new today! Thanks Facebook ;)
Nice you're ending your week at 176! Enjoy your cheat day!

Minneey you didn't actually sound like you were looking forward to trying on bridesmaid dresses, but I really hope you have a good time! I imagine it being super fun :)

envelope woah, so close to goal within a week! Yep, you definitely can do some goal-readjustment ;)

boy you guys/gals on here really keep up....

kelijpa: Wow, holy surpassing goalness!! :yay:

a spoon of cake?? who speaks of such blasphemy! I could never have a spoon of anything (sad but true) lol...ty though I bet it will get better I felt the burn today....cleaning, cleaning...not my own house though...that's this weekend and boy it needs it! Food is not the only thing I have too much of!

Rsadler126: hey lookie here! yo're losing! :high: Have some relaxation for the weekend....sounds like you deserve it...

lyn77: it probably will be water weight, alcohol seems to burn off ok....I think... the microwave popcorn, yes I like that stuff...was a little turned off by a report of carcinogens in the wax layer in the bag though...I used to eat that all the time...yes..I'm losing but it's the beginning of trying...I'll really need the support when I hit a wall, because that's when I quit every time... I am impatient...I expect RESULTS!! :goodscale anywho... gluten free huh? recommend anything tasty? it all seems so.... blah

Sum38: don't worry...your numbers still look good...prob extra water or something :) little nudge in the numbers no big deal....

gardenerjoy: yay! going in the right direction! :carrot:

pnkrckpixicat: pizza huh? wow the willpower on you!! pass me some will ya? prob gonna make pasta this weekend because we have lots of kids... it calls me....my precious....

agreed...def harder to have a bite... I never do...it becomes all or nothing... and usually all....

jacqui d: at least you have a routine..that probably helps... do you have a reward system for your goals?

minneey: Hey, good luck to you on weight in...looks like you might be a lil nervous about looking at a scale lately? or is there a method? don't worry, most go off plan once in a while.... :)

envelope: alright wow! whatchu doing over there???I wanna know! :carrot: nice job!

turtle11: maybe it was just water weight? had a lotta sodium lately? good job though....getting back on track...

183stgb: glad you got exams over with too, I know how stressful they can be.... cookies huh? well it's good you have a plan going in... Rally the Troops!! lol...congrats on the 2 lbs, much deserved....esp w added stress of exams...I dunno how you did it...that's a tough one!

Hi everyone, sad as it is DH being on the soft food diet, not being able to go out to eat has really made a difference. I'm a little gun shy about being able to be at my goal at the end of the month, I made it for one day last month and couldn't hold it. So, I'm alternating between being thrilled and scared out of my wits it isn't for real...haven't really had a challenge yet, looks like no holiday party at work, no one bringing in treats this year, well I'm not there anyway so don't know that for sure. Haven't started the holiday baking yet. So anyway, thanks again for all the encouragement and positive vibes, you guys are great!
:thanks: :goodluck: And:goodscale: to all!

183 congrats on finishing your exams, that's great!

Hey all, we are in Austin for the weekend so I haven't weighed and probably won't till monday. I've been doing ok eating while out of town. ordering things that sound as if they SHOULD be low carb. since I dont have nutritional guides I cant be certain but I'm ordering meats, veggies and egg based dishes. I did eat a few bites of my friends pumpkin pancakes though. hubby wants to order chinese tonight though so idk how I'll do

lyn - yup thats the Torani syrups I use. I get them at world market but you can order them online. I might start doing that too cause World Market has been starting to not have the sf ones I like available half the time.

183- hooray for being out of classes til jan! I have another 10 days. And I am SURE i looked funny eating everything off the crust, but it tasted good and I was at home so no strangers to stare at me lol

Keep up the great work everyone!!!!

I will get back to it eventually but probably not till the new year. Good morning you guys :)

my friend had to cancel our cookie baking session yesterday :( She had a legit reason so I wasn't upset. Also, kept me from temptation, haha ;)
Anyways, school and semester times are different in Germany, so I really only took this one exam for midterm. It's more important than the others, that's why I was stressing about it. Now I get to go back to my regular studies, with finals at the end of February. But it's a long time till then :)
Does everybody have their Christmas gifts yet? I'm pretty much done with all of it - except for my younger cousin. He's 11. Anyone have a good idea? He already has everything, and candy is kinda lame. I was thinking some kind of joke article, but I'm not sure if my aunt would appreciate it too much :P I'll have a look around amazon later today.

NightAngel26 woohoo on the 2lbs!! Are you also in school? Also, thanks for writing those nice personals for everyone! Very encouraging.

Virginiabelle :welcome2:

kelijpa I'm not too great at meeting goals, but I have set mine realistically this month. I hope to reach it before 12/24, or hopefully below it. I won't count over the Christmas holidays and couple other occasions, so the lower my goal, the more realistic for me to reach it.

Lyn77 nice to read you've been good ;) Don't worry about the scale. When you stick to plan, it'll ultimately go down... doesn't always make sense though ;)

pnkrckpixikat I wish I was out of classes ;) We only started October 20 over here, so not even halfway through ;) ... but I'm taking the next 2 weeks before Christmas slow (shouldn't overdo things ;)).

Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning! still out of town so I don't have a weigh in today again. I am headed back in a couple hours so I should weigh in in the morning. I'm kinda apprehensive about it cause I have been eating out for a few days now so sodium is an issue and the fact my carbs are higher than they should be is a second issue. I still haven't ordered anything that is obviously carb heavy but cooks can be sneaky! lol

hey thanks for the advice, yeah I should keep more water on hand, I don't drink our tap water, something is wrong with it. We have a well, but there's too much of something or something that shouldn't be there...it smells bad and tastes bad and is hard to take even with added flavoring or sugar. It is ok if it's been boiled though...

I was in school, I'm done as of this past September...been going 7 years for a 4 year Bachelors so I'm really done...just brunt out on papers...all set.... but I still need to pay off a class before I can graduate so prob for tax season I will...

NightAngel oh lasagna...how I love thee...

183 it's hard to know sometimes what is a realistic goal, I would never think there would be such an opportunity to stay OP in Dec. 70 min. Run is great, one thing I haven't gotten a chance to do lately is run (jog, my speed) hope when I get back to it I will not have lost too much stamina. Still formulating my list for Xmas, not too much procrastinating here, I find I do better under pressure, haha, I did buy 1 gift for my FIL...so there's that.

We did have McD's today, I know, I know, bacon habanero quarter pounder 610 calories, that's half my day's...anyway, took little dog out for a little hike, 1.7 miles and planning on doing the bike so shouldn't be too awful.

kelijpa as long as you keep the calories low the rest of the day it'll be fine! just don't be too surprised if you see a sodium bump :)

Big Fat Rooster
12-08-2013, 11:55 PM
Kelijpa, Sum38, Jacqui I have been looking at the quantity and quality of exercise of each of you. Yall are winners no matter how much ya weigh :D And yer all losing weight in addition to getting or being in excellent phisical shape :D You are an inspiration!

Rhiko, boatingmommy, Southernbell 02 If you draw a straight line across the page, then draw a zig zag line centering on that line .......... Title the upper tips of the zigs as "gained weight" and the tips of the bottom zags as lower weight......... Then tilt the page where it slants down. The solid line will indicate your average path on your weight loss trip with the zig zags showing the typical path for your journey. Quit worrying about the scales showing a 3 lb gain in a day with it's 2 lb down the next sort of thing. Look at your weekly or monthly loss and keep on doing what ya need to do and don't worry about it :D It will all work out in the end.

"boating mommy: Big FR - Your diet sounds very interesting...spicy. Where are you at that you are still picking tomatoes?"

So Cal US between Riverside and Palm Springs. We have had a real mild start of winter so far, two very light frosts before last week. I have started covering my tomatoes and chilis each night now, and had a frost last night and another one coming tonight. Trying to overwinter them, I cannot stand store bought tomatoes, like eating sawdust, tastless. Once in a while some of them that come up from Mexico are fair though. Roma is the best of what we have but still very lacking in good taste.

Jacqui: BFR, "meals at your house sound delicious! "

LOL they are if ya like it spicy, come on over :D

Pnkrckixkat: Good luck with that Atkins diet stuff. I read what Mayo Clinic has to say on that subject. They do not knock atkins and their diet plan has a few of the Atkins features. But they do caution to watchout for overdoing it.

However, many people use fad diets with the object of eating the portions of it which interest them, what they don't want to give up or want to eat. A friend of mine jumped into it thinking she was going to lose a lot of weight. She loves fat, and Atkins was just her ticket. And she gained like crazy til she gave it up. Another friend of mine said a friend of his told him he could eat all the pasta he wanted, it would not make him gain. He blew up like a blimb before he wized up.

Leeh " I am going to try and be reasonable without depriving myself because I really need to learn how to live with sensible portions. I have all the tools to do what needs to be done but I always look for quick fixes that I can't live with. This time I am doing everything in moderation."

I sure agree with that Leeah :D After one does lose the weight, they have to go on eating right to stay down. Learning to eat sensible portions of healthy foood is what seems to be best. At my currant weight I can eat a lot more and still lose weight. I am SOOO aware of having to keep cutting back on calories and keep on with exercise in order to keep losing. When I was young, I could eat like a hog and still could not gain any weight. Now it seems like I pick up 10 lbs walking under an ice cream sign.

All yall are doing fantastic :D keep it up

Today is my weigh in

Starting weight was 237.1
Weight as of yesterday and day before 232.4 Today was 234, I am using the 232 weight.

gardenerjoy it sounds really dumb, but the thought of getting a book for my cousin hasn't even crossed my mind!! That's actually a really good idea. I will check your suggestions out -- and probably even get it for him in English. Should be good English practice for him, too! thanks so much :)

Wow, I haven't been on here for a while, mostly because the scales haven't changed for me. I'm still 64.2kgs, so that's great :D

Jacqui_D - Thanks! I'm still keeping up my goal and haven't eaten after 10pm since (unless an ice block counts?)

NightAngel26 - Sorry for not adding lbs, I usually do. One of the reasons I'm exercising and eating right is to train myself for the Christmas/New Years period! (P.S. Underneath my avatar I have the lbs numbers of my highest, beginning and current weights ;))

pnkrckpixikat - I'm still trying to get used to the water weight thing and sometimes it throws me off.

Big Fat Rooster - I understand what you are saying and yeah, I do see the rate that I have fallen since I first started. I used to drop 2kgs (5-6lbs) every month until I hit 67kgs when I started losing .5kg-1kg per month. I'm disappointed that I'm not able to lose my last 4kgs to reach my goal, which I should have reached by this month but I haven't. I also made a promise to my fertility counsellor that the next time she saw me I'd be 60kgs. I know that time is coming up, so I really really really want to keep that promise. It has been a great motivator to me for the past year :D

I guess I could join this as well, even though my main goals aren't weight related. Fat loss is still visible as weight loss!

I'm not sure if it's going to be possible or not, but my aim would be to be in the 160's 1st of January. I was 175.4 this morning, so that would mean 5.5lbs goal for weight loss. Even after Christmas and New Year celebrations! :-) Sooo....that would mean a caloric deficit of 875kcal per day. I'm sure it's feasible at my weight, especially if I would finally add more exercise.

Regardless if I make it or not, it'll be easier to calibrate goals for January.

Have a great week, everyone!

BFR thanks for the words of encouragement on exercise, I like real food too much, I don't get anywhere when I'm not active. I mean losing weight-wise, not sure if that sentence made sense.

On the note of real food, I think there is a big misunderstanding out there about Atkins, lots a people think it's just eat meat and cheese and no bread and that's Atkins. Just like any plan there are phases you're supposed to go through you're not just supposed to stay zero carb forever, they talk about adding in fruits using the glycemic index, eating whole foods rather than processed, slow burning carbs and staying away from nitrates/nitrites in your foods like lunch eat and bacon. My neighbor was doing it and she talked about making a pound of bacon and having it around for a snack, I was thinking that would be an expensive snack if you were really eating the bacon they want you to eat on Atkins, it's a bit difficult to find nitrate/nitrite free bacon unless you're at a health food store. Ok off my little soapbox...I could go on for another paragraph about misconceptions about WW and how people think it's only about counting points...but I won't...today anyway  and when I say lots of people, I don't mean anyone in particular, I love you all here and don't want to offend anyone :goodvibes

So anyway, I'm all for trying and reading about all different kinds of plans/programs and keeping what works for you and not doing what doesn't work for you and ultimately devising your own plan/program. That's what I do, a blend of a bunch of things.

Prepfor40 I weigh in daily but only compare weekly, like Tues vs. Tues. Fri. Vs. Fri. I write it on a calendar along with my activity, oz. of water and what I had for supper, it's interesting and I'll admit sometimes sad to look back over the years, the only thing I don't do that I wish I did is take my measurements. So back to what BFR was saying about the line and zig zag, I went on lily slim I think in Oct. and made a little graph of my daily weigh-ins, it was kind of amazing to see the ups and downs, but as he said the overall trend is sloping down and that's the goal, right?!

So my recommendation with weighing is find what works for you, if daily fluctuations are going to drive you batty, then weekly or monthly might be better for you, or tracking your measurements or body fat or trying on a certain pair of pants or shirt every once in awhile to see your progress might be motivating. The only thing with weighing that's important if you're really going to compare is to try and do it at the same time in your daily routine.

Ok, I've rambled on more than long enough, thanks for listening :D
Best to all :sunny:

Just enjoyed catching up on everything I missed this weekend on the thread. Well done to everyone and thanks everyone for the comments, especially all the will power dust!

Back on plan today but skipped my early morning workout. Two more weeks to go until I break for Xmas. Hanging in there. This time of year is always tough for me and I'm feeling burnt out - and comfort eating/binging a lot.

Pixikat, you are doing so great! And yes my scale did seem to line up with my daughter's scale, unfortunately, lol!

Darius, good for you!! :carrot: :broc: :cb: That's a wonderful accomplishment!

Minneey, yay on being a lb down! You know, as much as I tease you about your cheat weekends, it always amazes me that they seem to work for you! Lol! :dunno:

Lyn, congrats on losing 2 lbs! Hopefully at the end of TOM, you'll have another whoosh coming! :flow2:

Kelijpa, I so agree with your belief that it's best to read about lots of different weight loss plans and to devise what works best for you. I really like the Slow Carb Diet, but I wouldn't be able to follow it to a tee. I modified it from the get-go based on what I thought would work best for me, on what I believed I would be able to do long-term. I think modifying a diet to best suit you, as long as it is reasonable and helps you to lose weight, is the way to go!

Hi SparklyBunny! :welcome: Glad you joined us!

Prepfor40, some people don't like to weigh daily; others do. I weigh daily because I'm a little obsessed with the scale, lol! Actually, I just like to know where my weight is headed. I'm afraid I'd be discouraged if I stayed on plan all week, expecting to see a change in the number on the scale, and it showed maintenance or a slight gain. When I can see what it's doing day to day though, the fluctuations don't bother me. Other people get a little freaked out by the daily ups and downs so they prefer to weigh once a week or once a month. For a daily-weigher like me, once a month boggles my mind, lol! :dizzy:

BFR, congrats on the 5 lbs down! :woohoo: And thank you for the exercise comment! I don't rank up there with the other exercisers--I just do moderate walking--but it works for me! And as for your wonderful meals, I'm afraid I'm a spice lightweight, haha! :hungry:

183, I had a fantastic time with my daughter! Thanks for the well wishes!

Rhiko, great job sticking to the new habit of not eating late! :dancer:

Yay Turtle! Congrats on the whoosh! :yay:

Boatingmommy, soooo? Did you work out at lunch? :exercise: If so, you are a better woman than me! TOM and working out can be so difficult!

Joy, congrats on another drop! Good job! :trampo:

Good morning you guys :)

I have a choir concert tonight :) It's not a big one; we sing popular Christmas songs in a church and then the audience chimes in. I like that kind of concert, and it should be fun. (also, Glühwein afterwards ;))
Also, I made my butt fit into a size 10 jeans yesterday. I didn't like the cut, but I liked that it zipped ;)

SparklyBunny :welcome2:

kelijpa yep, you're right, everybody needs to find his own way of losing weight and to make it sustainable. Doesn't matter if it's called Atkins, Paleo or WW. As long as it's not damaging your health, it's fine. And really, none of us are doctors so we can't judge that.

darius 11 years smoke-free is amazing. Well done!!

Okay, Jacque- I'll come clean...I did not work out yesterday at lunch. :( Just wasn't physically possible. Maybe today. I hate TOM!!! I really did have a goal at the beginning of the month...now it looks like I'll be battling to maintain with all of the holiday festivities. I'm doing my best to keep the junk food out of my house...mother-in-law wanted to sent a plate of cookies home, but grinchy me said "NO!" So she packed just a few in a couple of baggies for my hubby and daughter to pack in lunches.

kelijpa - Wow woman! You are on the move. I need to tap into your motivation. You are passing me up big time.
darius - Way to go on 11 years! I am a former smoker, too. I was so much thinner then...but so glad that I quit. No more bad breath, stinky hair, ...brown lungs! :smoking:

Glad to see so many new people on here, too. The more the merrier and I'll take all the support and comeradery I can get! Have a great day/evening everyone!!!

my scale always goes up after I did crossfit. Last week it took me 7 days to get back down -- I hope this week it's quicker.
My choir concert was nice. Afterwards we were all outside at the Glühweinstand and the trumpets played traditional Christmas songs. It was very festive. Good times.

Rsadler126 Glühwein is awesome! I only drink it at the Christmas fair though. When it's really cold and you get a hot, nice-smelling cup... aww, nothing better.

pnkrckpixikat hope your finals went well! seriously :D

boatingmommy nice drop! will power resisting Christmas temptations is paying off...

samm14 :welcome2: 8 pounds is a pretty ambitious goal, so good luck!! you can do it :)

Jacqui_D sorry about calling it Glühwein - in Germany we get taught some special words don't have a translation so to use the German one. I read it before in the US, too. That smiley is awesome, by the way!! Totally me at the Christmas fair!! :xcheer:

Hey all, sorry I didn't make it back yesterday, my brain was fried lol The exams went ok. Behavioral is posted already, I got an 82 which is lower than I would have liked but it leaves me with a 90.67 in the class so I'm happy enough with that so I will skip the final and keep that as my final grade. the grade for the other class probably wont be up for a week so I am trying not to obsessively check for it.

Jacqui you skipped right over 177! woot, that must be why you had the extra day at 178. Keep up the awesome work!

lyn I need to throw stuff out, my husband has agreed to start atkins when he gets back from his vacation on sunday. but he has agreed to diet with me before and it usually only lasts a couple days so I am torn about throwing it out.

boatingmommy nice drop!

JazzyPeggy :welcome2:

samm14 nice way to start this challenge! well done :)

Lyn77 big part of my plan is also not to buy anything that is not on my plan. Works well! Whenever I feel like cookies or candy I'm like shame -- because I never want it enough to actually leave the house just to buy it.

Jacqui_D woohoo 165.5!!! :carrot:

pnkrckpixikat good to read your exam went ok. Congrats on passing!

Minneey way to make it through the parties, stay on plan and drop some weight! that's quite an accomplishment this time of year.

NightAngel26 I have no idea what it is about crossfit that makes my scale go up the next day -- I just know that I'm super sore and got couple of bruises and my scale is up by at least one pound. Totally worth it though, because crossfit makes you strong :strong:
well done on the 3lbs, by the way :)

Jacqui awesome, kick that setpoints butt...

183 good job, I've read that your muscles hold on to some water to repair, something like that, so that might be why your scale goes up. :strong:

TOM arrived today, so we'll see how that affects things...I'll just keep on keeping on and hope if anything comes on it goes away in a couple days...

yesterday's exercise: 60min run (8k)
today's weigh-in: 75,8kg (167.1lbs)
change: -1,5kg (-3.3lbs)

Good morning you guys,

I had a really crappy diet day yesterday. First I went for a run; and I was so out of breath and cold and actually quit early, which is something I never did before.
Later I attempted to make chocolate truffles for a friend as a gift, and I was SO PROUD for not licking the spoon - then I noticed they weren't drying right, looked too ugly to be gifted and started eating them. I stopped myself after #6, but considering they consist of nothing but chocolate and butter (and a slightly too generous portion of Rum), it was pretty bad.
I woke up today dreading the scale -- but it turned out way different!! Like, seriously? All time low? I don't really believe it and I won't call goal. I rechecked about 20x and I always got the same number, so I'll take it for today.
Anyways, I'll be making Christmas cookies with a friend after school - I'll eat low cal and run before I leave, and then the chewing-gum plan is totally on.
Sorry for my rambling ;) The scale confused me today.

mothermavis nice to see you check-in, but even nicer to read you're sticking to plan! :)

Rsadler126 :cp:

Jacqui_D oopsi -- well, that number was out of good intention, I guess ;) Just take it as early congratulations, because I'm pretty sure you'll be there soon ;)

This is happening faster than I thought and I'm having mixed feelings and this is why I wasn't sure if I should join in on a weight loss challenge :-)

I know there's a lot of water weight in that and come Christmas and I eat regularly (or actually probably overfeeding myself...let's call it a three day "Leptin reset" :-P) I'll probably be back in the high 170's. Then I'm not sure how I'll feel.

I just hope I'll not feel stressed to drop all the water weight in the few days I have left of December just to reach my goal. I am going to eat during Christmas anything I want, it's my firm decision, though I will still do IF and I try not to eat all the time even during my eating window.

Scales are stupid... The ones that measure weight that is. Not the nature's sequin dresses. Those are actually kind of cool :-)

Ha, 183, the same thing happened to me! I've been eating lots of weird stuff lately, not exactly all the way off plan, but not great. And every time I'm dreading the worst, the scale goes down more than I ever expected.

Rsadler: celebrating a nice whoosh on your weekly weigh-in day!

Wow, darius! You got a nice whoosh for your weigh-in, too.

183StGB: good for you for stopping with the chocolate truffle incident. Scales are weird. Great job making a plan for today!

SparklyBunny: don't worry -- we're very supportive through scale ups and downs. You might consider Jacqui_D's method of cheat days -- she eats what she wants but only until she's no longer hungry. That kind of puts a lid on things for her. I don't trust my sense of hunger enough to try that, so my method is to plan my treats -- if I wrote them down on my plan, then it doesn't feel like cheating and I can keep in control that way.
Thanks for the visual of mermaid dresses!

Those of you hitting goal, already, let me know when you want to make it official! I'm totally owning it if I see goal at any point in the next couple of weeks.

I had a whoosh today but have undone hard work this evening eating two mince pies, two slices of Yule log and a large selection of cheese. I turned up with my trusty salad but ate everything else too. I did that earlier in the week. Need a mantra for tomorrow. 'Salad for lunch, champagne for dinner'! gardenerjoy I think I only want to call goal on the 31st this month -- way too many 'off plan' occasions in the next 2 weeks. I hope to still be at 168 or below that by then!

Minneey Have a good time at the party!

Jacqui_D nice drop!

SouthernBell02 During the holiday season every loss is pretty amazing. congrats on the 1.6!

Take care everyone :belly:

Thank you, gardenerjoy, Lyn77, Jacqui_D (good point about reaching the goal and not worrying about the "Christmas aftermath") and 183StGB. I'm not actually that worried about the reality of what's happening in my body any given day. I'm quite good pals with my body these days, so we understand each other :-) I'm also fine with being strict now and then eating liberally during Christmas (because I've planned it, it's still sort of strict) and I'm fine with how my body reacts to it. I worry, because I'm afraid that I slip into obsessing about the numbers. Tracking progress is great and gives good information on what's happening over a longer period of time, but obsessing about it becomes a stressor and I try to avoid that.

So I guess my other goal for this December challenge is to try to get through the challenge itself with cheerful enthusiasm and genuine interest, and not get too caught up with the numbers game :-)

I hope everyone is having a pleasant start for the weekend! Or if you're in the land of the hobbits, you are already enjoying your weekend! :-)

Yay! I'm down to 174 this morning! Looking at my ticker, that matches the 37 lbs I lost 4 years ago, only this time around, it was a much more enjoyable journey and there's no chance of my falling off the wagon as I did back then! Oh! And I just noticed I'm only 10 lbs away from a "normal" BMI!!! :trampo:

Amanda, great job on the 1.6 lbs! And it is fantastic that you are able to face the holiday season with such a healthy attitude and in moderation! :bravo:

183, your cookie-making experience with your Muslim friend was so cute! Let us know how it goes with your visitor tonight! Even if she's aware you've lost weight, I bet she's going to be so surprised! Have a great time at the Christmas Fair! :xcheer:

SparklyBunny, I think because you now have a healthy attitude toward your body and don't get upset about the daily water weight fluctuations, you'll find the numbers don't have that much power over you now. I am still obsessed with the scale. I have to weigh everyday, but it's just because I'm too curious not to. If the numbers don't do exactly what I want, it no longer bothers me because I know I'm on plan, and no matter how many times I hold water weight during the week and no matter if I hit a set point for 4 weeks, I'm still on plan and I'm losing weight, and that's success! If I don't lose the 6 lbs I have for a goal this month, it's no big deal. I'll still be at least 3 lbs lighter, and I've had all this wonderful support on this thread in losing those 3 lbs, so you can bet I'll be joining the challenge again next month, lol! You're going to be fine! I've read quite a few of your posts around the forum, and you have a really good attitude and smart advice for people. I just really don't think the numbers have that kind of power over you anymore, and I have no doubt you are going to get through this challenge (meeting goal or not) with flying colors! :D

Sum, yay! On your way back down! :broc:

Kelijpa, yum! Hope you enjoyed your treats! :T And now back to on plan!

Jacqui you are the girl on fire :flame: congratulations on meeting and approaching some great milestones. And, yes ma'am back on plan today :drill:

Lyn it was a nice treat and nice also because it was a couple cookies and a couple cups of hot chocolate and that was it, not a dozen cookies, or a bunch of other stuff after because the floodgate was opened, I'm with you on moderation. In fact I'm going to put my Mark Twain quote back I my siggy to remind me!

SparklyBunny you seem to have a healthy mindset, I have to keep an eye on myself, too, making sure I don't get obsessive about things, it's so easy to go down the rabbit hole, it's good to check once in awhile to make sure my focus isn't becoming an unhealthy habit of its own.

GardenerJoy we were out shoveling and blowing snow around for awhile today, it burns some cals for sure! Nice to be in the warm house now :D

Lyn, my daughter didn't give up dairy either when she went on this diet. She just consumed it in moderation. Dairy is actually low carb, but its protein amino acids spike insulin, which is why it's not allowed on the Slow Carb Diet. However, there is evidence that dairy helps against insulin resistance, so even I've been considering adding yogurt to my plan. Congrats on getting the Fitbit Force!!! :present:

Minneey, Minneey, Minneey, what am I going to do with you girlie?! Lol! Okay, back on plan, no cheating, lots of water (but don't overdo it), lots of green tea (if you drink it and again don't overdo it), go light on the carbs (which hold water), moderate exercise (strenuous exercise at this point will cause you to hold water to repair your muscles) and you still have a shot at 134 lbs this week! (And if you are really lucky it could be lower!) :crossed: Be really good because you want to look fab at your brother's wedding! No, no, no, :nono: step away from the pepperoni, Kelijpa! Lol! It's the toughest month of all, so you have to be very choosy about what treats you're going to allow yourself. Do you really want pepperoni, which you can get any ol' time of the year, to be one of those very selective choices? You can do this!!! :cheer:

Starting weight 237.1
Week 2 weigh in 231.4
This week weight 231.2

I saw 230 a few days ago, but it did not stick.

I bought a 11 oz bag of Doritos corn chips with the intention of eating few and giving the rest to my helper who I was giving a ride to the bus stop 6 miles away. But he forgot and left them in the truck. I chowed down on over 1960 calories before I knew what happened on the way back to my place. I had already ate some 650 calories for breakfast and lunch. I was flabbergasted and disappointed in myself.

I noticed that I had left the egg/tuna salad sandwich mix I had made sitting on my desk. I needed to put it up..... But before one quick taste. Long story short, I ate about another 800 calories or more emptying the container. So I topped that off with a mango and orange. What da hek then anyway, right??

And those chips had a LOT of tasty salt on them to. Result, my weight the next day went up to 237 and just now is back down to 232.4

So no loss for this week. But I was back on plan today and will remain on plan (I hope) for the balance of the month.

good morning :)

I was in a hurry to post yesterday, but my friend was stunned to see me skinnier :) I always find it mega weird when people comment on it. Like, 'hey, did you lose weight??' 'nah, new haircut'?
Anyways, what was real crazy she told me she herself lost bout 45lbs before I met her. She looks amazing and I'd never known. So it was really cool to know she lost the weight and successfully kept it off :) It was quite inspirational.
And yesterday - I was baking cookies, and I stayed right on track! I didn't taste the dough or licked chocolate off the spoons (kept chewing gum), and when the cookies were done I just took a really really small bite for the taste. They turned out amazing! I put them in little gift bags and sealed them - no temptation this way. I did amazing yesterday! I'm amazed :)
I'll go for a run now, and stay low calorie for the day so I can enjoy a couple cookies and some :xcheer: at a Christmas party tonight.

Lyn77 yay for Christmas baking! And for doing so well with tasting. Sorry some didn't work out too well, that gives you an opportunity to try another recipe though ;)

samm14 nice drop!

Jacqui_D yay for being down after a cheat day!

Big Fat Rooster sorry to hear about the Dorito experience. Hope you can resist the temptation next time. Glad to read you went back down quickly though. Good luck staying on plan :)

Jacqui_D, Lyn77 and kelijpa: thank you all for your kind words and support. I already read your responses on Saturday and I felt the warmth and it brought a smile on my face. I'm noticing the effects that positive thoughts have on my life and I'm flabbergasted by the results, so I very much appreciate it when people take the time to say something nice and supportive.

I also did a trip to nacho-land this weekend :-) I don't feel bad about it, but of course my weight was up this morning, so I'm simply not going to do an official weigh-in today :-) It's not that I would live in denial, but I just choose not to write down the numbers, because then it becomes something to obsess over.

I was at my gym's Christmas party this Saturday and I had wine and something small. I was still under maintenance calories for that day. Then yesterday evening I just felt like I wanted to have nachos, so I made some. What was nice about it was that I realized that food isn't my problem. I didn't get into a binge. I ate plenty, though not everything at one sitting, watched a movie (Despicable Me 2) and just enjoyed my Sunday evening. When I was full, I didn't feel compelled to eat more, so I stopped. I was still under maintenance calories.

What I got out of this experience was that I'm not at war with food and I'm not at war with myself anymore either. There's a really nice flow to everything right now and I can't describe how wonderful that is to someone who's always had huge internal conflicts. So, right now I can't say that I even care that much if I reach my December weight goal or not :-) I've reached a state of happiness and serenity and that means the world to me. That said, I will still continue working towards my other goals, big and small.

I hope everyone has a lovely start for their week!

Nothing like going up when you expect to go down, having my cream of wheat, made my lunch salad, we got a couple more inches of snow so I'll get some exercise before I go in...lol there was a time not very long ago I would have been thrilled with this weight, so I'm going to be happy with it and :kickbutt: the next couple days. Jacqui I did not have pepperoni or anything else, you're right about making the treat something special for this time of year!

SparklyBunny I'm going to borrow some of your positive vibes today, I actually do feel good, so I'll just borrow a little for a boost!

183 great job, isn't that funny, I sometimes wonder about the new girls we have at work, especially one of them, they're both heavy, but one of them gives me those looks sometimes that make me want to say "I'm working my butt off here, to keep off what I lost and chip off a couple more pounds."

I just noticed on my ticker when I get to 156 that's 50 off, so something else to shoot for.

Hi BFR any kind of chips I don't have much control over, years ago in WW they had you identify foods you couldn't stop eating as red light foods, ones you could sometimes control yellow light, the idea being once you've identified red and yellows you can come up with a strategy for dealing with them when you come across them, like buying a smaller bag if you really want just a few, not opening the bag if they're for someone else, etc. look at this as a learning experience, you did eat some healthy fruit!!

Okay, back from a weekend of terrible eating and drinking. Started out great. I went to one of my oldest and dearest friends annual Christmas party. I had only one fruit kabob and three beers the whole night. Saturday was Christmas with all the cousins...this is where I failed. I did good with the meal, but all of the appetizers and sweets!!!! YIKES! Not to mention a couple of whiskey sours:xcheer: (my mother-in-law makes the best). It was a great time, but now I have to pay.
