Ideal Protein Diet - Chef Verati's new Taste of Freedom Cookbook

Has anyone tried Chef Verati's new cookbook of Phase 4 meals? I'd love any sort of feedback before getting the book. I am just entering maintenance.

I'm curious if it's user friendly and if the meals are tasty, of course. (One person told me that there is no glossary in the back to look up recipes, which seems very odd for a cookbook.)

Many thanks!

I bought the previous book with mostly p1 recipes.

For p4, I'm using paleo/primal websites for inspiration. Personally I wouldn't buy a book just for p4. Recipes for maintenance can be found ANYWHERE. I already own many low carb cookbooks and more mainstream ones as well.

Hi Lisa, what book would that be for P1?

I bought Chef Verati's last cookbook with P1 recipes, and actually haven't even made anything out of it - found the recipes a bit too "gourmet" for my busy life (full time working mom of 2 VERY busy kids - I'm driving them all over the city every night right after work to soccer/basketball/skiing etc). The same week I bought the book, I also saw this link posted, with very easy P1 recipes - I use these ones all the time.

I love this site. I found it when I first started IP. I am yet to try all the recipes. They are so flavorfull and good!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I had heard that the book is divided by protein/fat meals and protein/carb meals, which is intriguing but not something we can't figure out for ourselves at this point! I think I'll wait on the cookbook and search for a low-carb or paleo cookbook or website for inspiration.

Question about the book though - regardless of the version - what are the amount of servings ? Anyone knows ?

Can you please explain exactly what palo / primal cooking is? I did a 'google' but really didn't understand it.. Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure that I understand the protein/fat vs protein/carb meals...

I still have phase 2 to start (hopefully next Monday) but when we go to phase 4, I guess I really don't understand how / what to eat to avoid regaining 60 pounds of ugly fat back... It's going to be too easy to slip into old habits, if I don't have recipes to follow, at least for a while.

Basically eating like a caveman...not a lot of processed foods. Mostly meat & veggies with a few fruits/grains/nuts.

This is one of the better websites for more info

Thank you so very much. I've been looking at cookbooks on Overstock.com, thinking about ordering one or two, but then wondered how to tell which was any better than the others, so I haven't done anything so far.

Do you take his supplements, or what supplements / vitamins do you take, AFTER you are done with the IP diet phase, or do most people ALWAYS keep taking the IP supplements? My family doctor is the one that "sells" the IP. She says that it's important to NOT take over the counter vitamins, while on the IP diet, because even though over the counter vitamins can say they have 0 carbs, 0 fat, etc, they really can contain a specific amount of carbs and fat. Am wondering how to avoid taking vitamins, in the future, that are filled with carbs and fat.

Is this through your coach or by any chance another source? For some reason my coach doesn't stock any IP cookbooks. I'm not a creative cook and would love a P4 specific cookbook.
