I suggest taking a pause day late in the game (better to go back to Day 1 early on) if you need a break or screw up when you're well into the challenge, meaning, when you're on Day 15 or something like that.

In any case, the trick is to keep going. The momentum builds and it's great incentive to stick to your guns, cause if you don't.........back to START you go. :( And the really great thing about this challenge is that you are forming new habits that will wipe out the old! AND, you get to do it with a great bunch of really supportive people to whom you are accountable!

There is NO shame in starting over. Remember, it's not over till you give up. And our motto around here is:

NEVER GIVE UP!!...Just start OVER!!

Hey ladies, I'm new here :) This looks like a great place to start. The hardest part for me is snacking before bed. My goal is to not binge in the evening (after dinner) right before bed. I'll rate this at a 2 for I know I'm able to do this but its very difficult for me.

11/17-not only did I not snack before bed, but I didn't binge at all today :)
11/18-another good day! 2 days in a row without a binge and stayed with in my 2000 cal limit =]
11/19-an ok day, stayed in my cal range without evening snacking... had a hard time with it so I just went to bed early

Thanks for the welcome Stephanie :) Thinking about this challenge and reading inspiring stories and feeling I'm not struggling alone in this has helped me as well... I'm glad I found this forum <3

Hey so I think I'll try this too! I have a hard time sticking to new plans so I'm gonna start off pretty easy, though it'll still be a challenge for me. I'm going to try and drink 6 glasses of water a day. Right now I drink.. maybe one? I realllly don't like water. lol. We'll see how this goes! :)

I am gonna hop on this challenge. I am doing great with eating and drinking water, but my exercise is so lacking. So I am going to challenge myself to 21 days of exercise. Doesn't matter what or how much but just to move my body every day.

I am going to jump in on this challenge.

I recently finished 21 days of 10,000 steps with out too much of an effort. I did have a few nights where I forced myself to walk a little while longer before bed. I am ready to challenge myself in an effort to reduce the delay in my weight loss from the 2 holiday meals I am going to eat today, in moderation of course!

I am going to take 12,500 steps or more for 21 days with no pauses.

I think I will join this challenge. Mine will be upping my water intake. I think my lack of water has been a big factor in headaches I've been getting. So my goal is to up my water intake to at least 75 oz a day. I'll say this is a level 1, so 1 pause day (which hopefully I won't need to take). :) Will be starting it tomorrow (as I know I did not drink enough today).

There has been some interesting ideas that have popped in my head while reading through everyone else's challenges they're putting themselves through -- I wanted to steal the ideas but I'm going to stick to what I was originally thinking.

I am going to challenge myself to drink 90oz of water a day and NO soda. (I am a huge fan of diet sodas) I will allow myself one pause day but I am going to hope that I do not need to use it at all.

This will start tomorrow along with my new diet.

I didn't even make it close to 75 oz the past two days....I guess I do fall off my plan on the weekends when I'm home with my family. Going to have to step it up and really work on it. Today's a new day and a new start. :)

CincyShell - I totally get what you mean, yesterday at work I had 5 and a half bottles of water, and it took me so much to finish the 6th bottle at home. I am worried about this weekend :| But as you said - we just really have to work on it. Good luck <3

This is a great thread! I'm challenging myself to 21 days of 30 minutes of Cardiovascular exercise. Getting the motivation to workout is the hardest thing about losing weight for me. So I am going to say Level 3. . . and I am going to cheat a little and count yesterday as day One.

I am going to quickly jump on this as it should be due to finish on NYE. I challenge myself to 1 mile a day for 21 days. which will hopefully help set me up for the new yrs day 5k I accidently got roped into!

I am going to set it at a 3 as its going to be really hard to find time and motivation over xmas but am going for not using the pause days...

so....

Cincyshell - I am TOTALLY jealous. I wish I had a snow day today. This is my third winter at my job & haven't had a snow day yet. I am going to hope that that means this year will be THE year. :]

The soda part was really hard for me today, every day at work there are two diet pepsi's that are staring me down. I wish someone would drink them already. I may hide them in the back of the fridge - but the problem is I'll look since I know they're there. & WHY does my boyfriend find it necessary to snack next to me on the couch right now at 9pm? >.<

I have been so not on any program for a couple of months. Today is my restart. So I'm joining this challenge again.

At least 24 oz water daily, 3 pauses. Once I complete this 21 days, I will up my water and lower my pauses on the next round.

Log everything I eat. 1 pause allowed.

Ok, I did so well for the first few days with my water, and then I haven't been able to keep it up. I think I better scale it down until I get use to drinking lots of water again. My new goal is to drink 50 oz of water a day. I'll give myself 2 pause days since weekends are going to be very tough for me.

and bizzarely enough, I walked it faster!! my boss said today that if I was running very slowly, I would get a better cardio workout by walking it continually fast rather than a jogging then walking routine. so I am going to alternate it so I can still get better at running but hopefully burn my butt at the same time... does that sound logical to you guys?!?!?

cincyshell, if scaling it down makes it more attainable for you that's got to be a good thing, I struggle with the metrics so am not sure how much that is (still getting the hang of you guys writing the date the wrong way round!!)...

I just wanted to throw motivation out to the water drinking challengers out there.. every day so far I have been down a pound, and I'm really thinking it's because of increasing my water intake. <3

Thank you Wannaskipandlaugh, plus after thinking about how to get back on track the fastest you are my inspiration for this challenge. I'm going to start this at Level 2 because I have not been exercising every day.

So I also will do 7800 Steps and 50 squats a day.


I am wondering about those squats, I may need some encouragement come day 3 or 4 when sore muscles kick in.;)

Good Morning!.. Working.. be careful about the Squats... I actually started back in Late Sept with 20 and added 1 more each day to get my Arse used to them.. Just be careful! :)

Good morning tyla & wanna. Wanna, thanks for cautions about squats, I think I will break them up during the day and see if that works and will be careful. My whole body feels nasty, like bad food, bad sleeping and lack of exercise. I'm gonna set an alarm to get up by(even though still on break) and hope my head feels better. Working on the food and exercise elements and hope to feel better soon. Hoping for another sunny day to walk my dog today.

wanna - your inspiration hurts today, haha. Thank goodness last night I remembered that there are a variety of squats and that saved my caboose this am:D. So I did 50 sumo squats this am but, totally different leg muscles. Weird thing is my shoulder muscles hurt the worst.

Day 1 - 1/1 10,360steps and 50 squats.
Day 2 - 1/2 12,575steps and 50 squats.

Today I'm super busy, so may not get a walk in with Jethro.

Today is day 26 of me staying within my range and exercising. I was a little disappointed after I got on the scale and only saw 1/2 lb. down this week. That really put a damper on my day. But today I feel great that I stuck in there.

tyla and wanna, I am so grateful to have this support group. My exercise in December was horrid and I knew I had to do something to turn things around. You both have inspired me:hug: A month or thirty days is fine with me too. I was so conserned about getting my steps in yesterday - I was surprised to read my steps at the end of the day. So cold today, may have to do some inside walking to get my steps.

Wanna, yes I am doing fine, not too sore. I was hoping that the squats would lead to more muscle toning. I did a Hiit dvd on Sat which does have some muscle toning and was an increased challenge for me.

Hi, i'd like to join in with the 21 day challenge.

I have three challenges but only one of them is my weight.

That one is to eat nothing after dinner (coffee permitted). I don't think this is easy. So i guess its #2. I can't remember the rules now though.

challenge #2 is to work on my sewing everyday. Maybe on the rest days or pause days i can just tidy up and work on being organised. Anyway the main thing is to get focussed and get over my procrastination.

Challenge #3 is to do my singing lesson every day. I started this recently with a package of lessons i bought online. Today i didn't sing.

So tomorrow will be Day 1.

I will write

Day 1. no food post-dinner + sew and sing

Day 28. Hi everyone! I haven't been feeling well the last couple of days, so now I'm on antibiotics. I've got flu like symptoms. I'm trying to keep warm and stay in my house. Thank God, I don't live where it's 40 below. It's in the 30's here in the am, so it's not too bad.

Well, I had my first pause. I needed comfort food. And my calorie count went out the window. My meds were hurting my stomach, and I'm not supposed to eat tums while taking them, so I started experimenting with foods to stop the burning and aching. The trick worked, but the calorie count didn't. So I'll start again. What a bummer!

Tyla... please do not worry and beat yourself up. You needed to take care of yourself and that IS the most the important thing! You can always start again when your pain is less. That is the wonderful thing about life. We get to start again whenever we want! :)

I too am having troubles.. but its a mental thing as I am upset about another thread and it is rattling me horribly. But I am inspired by you all and will do my best to ignore that inconsiderate course that person took.

Wanna, I agree with Cinder. Ignore these people, and take care of yourself. They have to live with themselves. You can walk away. While you'll eventually find joy and be happy again, this person probably won't.

Goal: Write down every bite, and tally calories/points before 11 p.m. on a daily basis. (3 pauses.)

Goal: Stop eating before 11 p.m. every night. 3 pauses

Wanna, good to see you on the thread, this is a demanding challenge - also one that can change patterns quickly. Do you think sit ups is the best thing for muffin top? I also would like to lessen that upper under arm jiggle, but what to do?

Working.. you are setting that bar so high for the steps.. It inspires me.. and I feel guilty when I just make my set goal!... You make me want to walk more... (Hmmmmm I wonder if I walk in my sleep... can I count those?! LOLOLOLOL)

wanna, gotta come clean about those steps. I had gone into hibernation mode in Dec. and was not exercising at all:o, The year before I had bought a Striiv(pedometer and more) and told myself that everyday I was going to try to get 10,000 steps in. So when I pledged for 7800 steps a day I figured I had to start somewhere, but my true goal was to at some point to get back to 10.000 steps a day. With your and tyla's inspiration I snapped out of my hibernation and haven't looked back. That would be awesome if in return I inspired you to step it up, lol. I am on another challenge thread you might want to check out. It's called "1,000 miles in 2014".

Working.. you do challenge me! LOL tho the 1000 miles for a year.. ahhhhhhh I probably will have done them.. I am trying to do 500 exercise miles this year (10 miles a week) and I am finding that somewhat hard... But I will think on it! Everyone deserves time off... it just gets you back in a better mind frame when you start again! Its a wonderful circle of help... We keep inspiring each other! Boy that does HELP! :)

Have had a sinus infection, starting to feel better. I'm using my netti pot and upped my vit C. I took a day off on Sunday, thank goodness for pause days, but this means I have 3 more days.

wanna, congrats on "12951 steps -most EVER", guess I'll have to take more pause days, lol. I can't believe it's been that cold in Florida, Yikes. I went to college in Tampa and miss the sunny winters.

So wondering what challene I should accept next. I am exercising now - but not dropping Holiday weight, so am thinking it should be food related. I hate counting calories, but really do want to lose a pound a week.

My challenge will no p.m. snacking and 50 situps/day for the next 21 days. I am allowing myself 3 pauses because the no snacking is difficult and the situps new( & I may need a break).

Goal: Drinking at least 110 oz of water per day starting on 1/26. Going to aim for no pauses!

My challenge will no p.m. snacking and 50 situps/day for the next 21 days. I am allowing myself 3 pauses because the no snacking is difficult and the situps new( & I may need a break).

Feb 2nd-Day 1: 50 situps & no p.m. snacking
Feb 3rd-Day 2: 50 situps(I did a full curcuit-whew!) & no p.m. snacking

Hmm… I'm very interested. So I drink beer, but beer has a ton of carbs, as we all know. I work at a bar that only serves beer. *AHEM* I'd love to give up beer for 21 days. I feel like it would be a great thing for me. I can switch to wine. I don't want to go the hard liquor route. That gets me into trouble. ;)

What's today? The 18th? I'm going on a beer date tomorrow after work, but Thursday, I can start. (3 pause days because of work events I have already committed to)

What else to give up or change a habit of…hmm…

Fried food. I gave up fried food one month and it was great. (No pause days, I can do this.)

Oh, I know. This may be a little weird, but doing ALL the dishes in the sink. I'm guilty of "I'll do them later." Later turns into a whole sink full and a week. Mostly pint glasses, so this is a sort of combo with the beer one above.

Lastly, I'm unhappy with my current employment and wish to improve that. Goal is to send out 1 new resume a week. That's only 3. I can do that.

Cheers, y'all, I mean, water/wine/booze cheers! :P

2/18- 10 cups of water, I had a flavored drink (those flavor packets that are like 10 cals) to calm my sweet tooth so didn't snack :D and worked my *** off to leslie sansone :D
2/19- haven't slacked off so far and feeling as good as ever :)
