Good Morning Everyone! C-O-L-D this morning....Brrrrr!!!! One of the best things about this time of year is the ability to use my screened in porch as an extension of my refrigerator to keep drinks, etc cold! :)

Here's to having a great OP day and continuing to work toward our goals!! :carrot:

Well it's Shark week and the scale has jumped up 2lbs. Nota happy camper! All that on top of a cold. UGH! Lol but I just gotta power thru. Looking forward to my two days off.

Getting sick :( My coworker brought in 3 things she found at CVS last night that are all IP friendly
1. CVS Brand Cough drops - she said they were the only ones there that had no aspartame
2. Delsym Lozenges SF cherry
3. Zarbee's Naturals Cough and throat relief daytime drink (there's also a nighttime one too) - only 4 ingredients!

Since you're under the weather I wouldn't let the 2lbs bother you. Your body can retain water for all kinds of reasons. Just continue to take it easy and drink lots of fluids.

Whew! I left an IP packet in my desk at work on Friday, so I won't be running out of packets before WI after all.

Apparently I am having butterscotch pudding for breakfast. Better that than leek soup!

You are absolutely right. Illness = inflammation & inflammation = water weight. Stay off the scale when you're sick or view with a neutral eye/grain of salt...

Very down today and it's not even 10 am! Today is my 2nd weigh in. My first weigh in ended up being 9 days after I started IP, and it was 10 pounds. I was ecstatic! Well my weekly weigh-ins are Tues. every week so now today's weigh in is 5 days later. So I expected the scale to obviously not show some high # like 10 pounds... but I don't think it's moved AT ALL.

My scale was 4 pounds lighter than the clinic's scale so I keep getting confused going off of both mine and their #. But my # keeps bouncing between 257-259 over the past 5 days. At 257, it means I've lost 2 pounds since the last WI... but at 259 I'm exactly the same. It was 259 this morning :(

I am so depressed about it. And I know "It could be inches, but no pounds!" but for me, I just want to see that # move right now. I have not cheated at ALL as far as eating what I shouldn't. But I will admit there were maybe 2 days I had dinner at 8 p.m. AND still did not have my snack yet, so I skipped the snack. And almost every day I've gotten 2 1/2 - 3 cups of veggies in. The veggies are soo hard for me.

I'm mad at myself and frustrated and afraid the coach is going to be disappointed today, as I am.

Does not having enough veggies affect your weight loss?

I'm bad at the veggies, too. I've been doing what I can and am eating roughly the same amount as you.

I've been told that the best time to take your weight is first thing in the morning (after you use the bathroom), and naked. I do this weekly and consider that my "master" number. Try to stick to one method for your "true" weight, either the clinic's scale or yours at home. Since I drink like 2 gallons of water a day I prefer my home scale since my tummy is full midday.

I would trust the clinic's measurements since it's usually a bit more accurate to have someone else measure for you.

I'll echo a lot of what I've seen here and say that you shouldn't skip your snack and throw your body into starvation mode (where it hoards calories because it's afraid it's not getting enough). Eat your snack with dinner or eat it a little earlier in the day if you know dinner is going to be late.

The first week on the plan your body is depleting its glycogen stores, which is part of why you saw such a big loss. So naturally it would follow that your loss wouldn't be quite as big the next week, especially with just five days between weigh ins.

Try weighing yourself only once a day (or less, if the number if bothering you), and wait a week or two to get an idea of what's normal for you.

Chin up! If you're staying on plan, the weight will continue to come off.

Not having enough veggies and skipping your snack probably has something to do with it. I think it's already been said but you have to have those 3 IP packets a day, that's how the program works. But, don't knock yourself for it - consider it a learning experience and start fresh today.

Morning everyone! It was a chilly one today - definitely a heated car seat morning :)

Have my WI at lunch today - fingers and toes crossed for a good one! I need to get some ideas from my coach for breakfasts for the weekend - I'm doing a bus tour with a friend to Minneapolis. I prefer to "eat" for breakfasts so while the RTD stuff would be good, I'm not sure how full I would feel with them. The other meals should be okay, just a little worried about breakfast. I think the hotel has a restaurant though so I could always get an egg white omelet or something.

Happy Tuesday all!

That's one of the ones that I can't even bring myself to try. Not sure I could handle broccoli in that format (I have a hard time with normal fresh broccoli).

I have a sampler pack from my coach for this week (Week 1) and there have beeh some losers and some that I could choke down. Looking forward to ordering some of the winners tomorrow.

The zucchini muffins travel VERY well. And you definitely feel like you are eating!
I make 4 servings at one time. As I said, they refrigerate & travel well and also do okay without refrigeration for a half-day or so.
I make banana, lemon, oatmeal, and/or potato. Gets in your veggies, too!

Well, I have found a new meal. But I am not sure if I am allowed to have it hahahah It was to good. (I am in Phase 1)

For my lunch, I made the Potato Puree Flat Bread (Its delicious!!) and put on a leaf of lettuce, 0.5oz chicken and some mustard. What I am not so certain about is what I had with it....I had some celery....with PB2 on it :dizzy: you take 2tbsp of the powder mix 1tbsp of water to make a heaping 1tbsp of peanut butter. I put a little less then half on the celery. But I am not sure if I am allowed to use the PB2 in phase 1?? Anyone know?

Hey! We're coming down for a Wild/Jets game in St. Paul :) And some, okay lots, of shopping too! It's a bus tour - never done one before - but they're taking us to MOA and Albertville so it should be good.

I make the trip down 2 or 3 times a year, my son loves MOA, lol!

Hey Purple, If you're coming to Minneapolis this weekend you are in for some nice weather. It's been very cold here but will be in the 50's for Sat. Which will make Albertville tolerable. Have fun at the MOA! Lots of food choices there that will fit in with IP.

Are u measuring inches every week? This is my second kick at the cat. I was on the plan about 1 1/2 yrs ago and lost 28 lbs in 9 weeks. And I lost 38 inches as well. I remember my coach saying that as long as you are either losing inches or lbs it is good.

I bet you lost some inches. Stay focused and next week you could be down 6lbs;). I remember when I was on it last time I only lost 2 lbs the first week, and I remember the devastation I felt. I did everything right but the scale didn't show. The next week I was down 9lbs. It all works out in the end to approx 3lbs a week.

Keep up the good work:carrot:

Day 4 and I have a few questions.

Last time I was OP my coach did not mention anything about not using aspartame. I chewed gum all the time, used splenda, cough drops, etc.
I know splenda is not good for the body and I actually switched over to stevia about a month ago, but why can't I chew gum?

Does anyone know if there is a replacement for mio that has stevia?

I saw a recipe for IP mayo in the recipe threads that uses tofu....I can't find it again. Anyone have the recipe?

If I want to add my ticker on the bottom of my emails, do I have to copy/paste them in each time I initiate a thread?:dizzy:

Thanks and happy IP'ing,

Thanks and happy IP'ing,

The gum thing was explained to me that it can mess with ketosis, so stay away if possible. Maybe the sugars in it? I'm not sure as I don't chew gum.

You won't be able to add a ticker until you have posted 20 times and been on here 20 days. At least I think those are the magic numbers. It took a while for my "signature" button to arrive, but when it did, I could just put my ticker in my signature and it follows me everywhere...no matter where I post. I just update it weekly so it reflects my current weight.

Not sure about the other questions, but I'm sure someone will be able to help.

Theres a natural Stevia water enhancer called STUR you can buy 6 on Amazon for $20 and the only one I know of that MIO uses Stevia in is a Soda flavoring one.

I was told you can have sugar-free gum but only 1 piece a day. And my IP office sells IP approved gum. Its good.

Oh, that's too bad. The garlic and herb crisps are fantastic. I love them and can't believe they are unrestricted.

I hope everyone feels better soon. Get some rest! This cold weather is definitely a huge change. I saw snow today for the first time. :dizzy:
Congrats on all the great losses!

I really want to try those zucchini muffins, Lisa. I am getting very bored as I haven't made any recipes with the food.

Did anyone go through a hunger phase in about week 7 or 8? I don't know if my body is out of ketosis (I ate an extra pack a few times this week). I've also upped my exercise which may be making me hungrier. I just feel out of it and at a standstill. I hope this hunger subsides. Maybe time to eat more veggies, dill pickles or something.

Thank you I have also benefited from this response.

I chew gum . it helps me from taste testing when I make dinner and during the days where I have major cravings! My friend went to the clinic here in town and they told her to chew gum!

Guess every clinic is different. My Doctor said only chew as a last resort and there is only one kind he recommends. I don't know which one it is since I don't chew it. Sorry!

I think it's Spry gum that's approved. I couldn't find it in stores. Maybe online. Seemed like to much trouble to go to so I just gave it up.

Just made the vanilla shake with 1 tsp of rum extract and pumpkin pie spice. I'm in heaven! Thanks to who ever posted it.

Look for gum without aspartame. Dentyne makes a few flavors. Mio is okay it doesn't have aspartame. The IP foods contain the same thing as Splenda, Suraclose. Not sure why the clinics are down on Splenda, sure Stevia my be better for you, but it's not going to affect your losses.
