Default torn acl exercise challenge

Does anyone have any suggestions for exercises I can do that don't involve my legs... I tore my ACL. So, my activity is very limited, but I don't just want to stop moving.

Ugh, torn ACLs SUCK. I walked around on a torn one for a year before I insisted on an MRI.

You might try a stationary bike, but stop if it hurts. How about using just your arms on a rowing machine? Do you have an exercise ball? There's lots you can do with dumbells on one of those.

There's always swimming if you have access to a warm pool....

Swimming! It's low impact (as in, no impact) and you can swim without using your leg all that much. During my brief foray into triathlons, I was told to swim mostly with my arms and to use my legs only to stay afloat so I could save them for the bike and run parts of the race. And it worked.

So it's totally possible to swim with a torn ACL.

Happy healing!
