Hi everyone!

Checking in after a long absence - been keeping up the TurboFire just been caught up and unable to get near the computer!

I have one workout left to do of week 16 (Recovery) and am super happy with how it's all going. I am a little worried how I'll cope when I finish TF - I've become addicted!!! Probably I will give Insanity another shot I think :)

Hi Diana: Hope you are doing well. I noticed your new profile pic - nice :)

Hi ladies!!!

Diana- is the tooth all better? I got to eat at the Melting Pot for lunch yesterday :) We got the cheddar cheese which was okay, house salads which were good, and milk chocolate which was wonderful!!! We didn't get an entrees since it was lunch and the 3 courses were plenty of food.

Laura- wow, to having 4 dogs... I have my hands filled with 2 :)

Precious Little- way to go on the TF!!!

Back from vacation. It was good... lots of eating and walking. I had to raise my ticker but I was on a downhill food slide even before vacation. But heading to the store for my healthy foods and hoping to move it down next week.

Teacher I think my tooth is doing better. Thank you for asking. I never really had any pain with this abscess. It has just felt weird. It sounds like you had a nice time on vacation. I think I remember liking the cheddar. Did they put beer in yours? I think they put it in ours. We had the peanut butter/chocolate dessert fondu and it was awesome. Yes, I took the spoon and scraped the pot clean. No was wasn't embarrassed since I don't know anyone in that area.

Teacher The baby tigers would be fun to watch. I love animals. I had a really nice moment with Cody today. After lunch, I closed the office door, and let him out of his crate. I held him in my lap for about 10 minutes. He had a very calm moment and it was really nice. I was able to hug him and lay my head on the top of his head. He was so sweet. Sorry about the hip. It did really well for a while. Maybe it needs a little extra rest. Did you walk a lot this weekend? Maybe it was the riding in the car. :?:

Diana- yeah, i think it was a combo of lots of walking and sitting too long.
That's great that Cody was a snuggle buddy today. Isn't weird how good and bad they can behave. Today, I came home to my guest bedroom blanket all torn up :( It was my little girl. She loves stuffing!

I walked all around the mall looking for a top for my DH sister's wedding this weekend. It took forever to find a one that looks okay. It was a very draining process.

Teacher I find clothes shopping completely draining. It looks like we have a similar situation with Cody and our blankets. This morning I was putting him in the crate in the back of the car. I could tell he was going to get sick. I took him back out and he threw up some blanket material. I went back to look at the quilt and I could see where he has chewed up the back of it. If it's not the foam under the carpet, it's the blanket. Ugh! What a pain. I need to keep my focus on the sweet loving times, right? ;)

Hi Everyone!

Check-In: LM Combat 60 w/weighted gloves

Combat felt really good today.

Question for everyone, which heart worm medicine do you give your dogs?

I give Cody Trifexis. Cody got sick the second time I gave it to him. All the other times he has been fine. I gave it to him today around noon. He vomited 3 or 4 little dog kibbles around 8 PM tonight. I don't think that was related to the Trifexis since so much time had passed.

Hi Everyone

Today was a rough one for sure. Asking for a prayer for little Cody. He is in the Vet hospital right now. He got into some poison today. It was in the back room. I didn't even realize we still had that product. It is from 7-10 years ago. Anyways, I got the package and all the info and called the Vet. They called Poison Control and got the necessary treatment info. They opened a case if there was any future contact about this situation. He didn't show any symptoms, so the recommendation was to feed him food, bread, and milk/water mixture. I did that but I noticed some symptoms coming on. I called the Vet again. Due to the time of day and my location, they recommended I take him to the hospital. They forwarded the info from poison control and the case number. I took him to the hospital. He didn't show any symptoms while there, so they suggested that we take him back home. Also, based on the time frame they felt he would have already started showing symptoms. DH took him home and I went back to the shop to workout. I was finishing up and DH called to say that Cody was showing symptoms. I met him back at the hospital. He was having a full blown reaction. Dogs don't normally react this badly but cats do. They decided to treat him for toxicity and keep him for 24 hours.

Cody has been a handful from day one. He is very active and gets in to everything. We have never had a pet that gets into everything like him and it's all we can do to keep him out of things. I pray he gets through this. I feel horrible about this. Please say a prayer for Cody.

Hi Everyone  I know you haven't checked in since my post from last night. I am going to copy and past my update from my other check-in. It's easier than rewriting it.

Thank you so much for the good wishes and thoughts. It was a rough night. I tend to obsess and get wound up over things. I decided that I was not going to call the hospital. They said I could call as often as I wanted, but I felt that would fuel my stress. The Dr. said she would call if there were any changes in a negative way and would call first thing this morning with an update. She said no news is good news. All night long I would wake and hear "no news is good news" and try to go back to sleep. I finally got up at 7:30, knowing the Dr. would call around 8:00. The update is that Cody did well through the night and has continued to improve. She (Dr) is expecting to release him tonight when she gets back on her shift. I told her about my stress of recent years (losing both of my parents and previous pet, Magnum) and that I don't have a healthy stress response. I asked her when it would be appropriate to call to check on Cody. She said to call about 2:30 today. I am trying really hard to work on how I deal with stress, after all I have been through. So I will call today at 2:30. I will keep my focus on the things I need to do today instead of running all of this through my head like a nonstop film.

So anyways, I had a nice drop overnight. I dropped some water weight from my last angioedema flare up. I mentioned that I had a flare up but didn't say what caused it. It was Cody and partially DH. I spend a lot of time on the weekends with Cody. Like I said before, he is always in to everything. I can't really get much done unless I keep him in the crate. So last Saturday DH went to the farm. He was going to be plowing the fields so he couldn't take Cody with him. I was trying to get dressed and put on my makeup. I decided to confine Cody to my room (close the door with us in there) so he had limited access to things and I could watch him. It doesn't feel right to keep him crated so much. I was putting on my make up and he jumped up on my leg. I looked down at him and he jumped again and hit me in the mouth. It busted my lip. That was it. I was already so frustrated since it feels like I can't get anything done. I started balling crying. I just kept getting more and more wound up through out the day. When DH got home, I went off on him. I could feel the angioedema coming on. (I feel if I can stop with getting so wound up over things it will help with the angioedema. That's why I am trying to focus on having a healthy response. I feel like I am in a constant Fight or Flight situation and probably have some PTSD going on from all that I have been through). So anyways, back to last weekend. DH took Cody with him last Sunday when he went out and about. OMG! This felt like such a relief! So we decided, at work, it was time to remove Cody from the office where I am. Again, I am on constant alert since he is constantly into everything. We put him at the back of the shop where we had put all of our other dogs during the day. Us putting him back there has really helped with his behavior when we get home. He has calmed down a lot and is less anxious. I guess he is able to burn off some of his energy instead of being confined to the office and/or crate with me. This is where the problem from yesterday came in. We had no idea that the bag of insecticide was there. It was not in the open. It was hidden under some other stuff.

So, hopefully Cody will get through this situation. We need to analyze that area of the shop to make sure there is nothing else that can be problematic. Well see how it goes. Hopefully we can keep that little terrorist alive until he is grown and has calmed down.

Now the next question is whether or not this stress will cause another angioedema flare up. Hopefully not. Time will tell.

ETA: I forgot to mention something. I have heard stories and new mom's and how they feel with their new baby. This is exactly how I have been feeling with Cody. Crazy!

teacher1
11-16-2013, 01:15 PM
Diana- wow, that's so scary. I'm praying for Cody. He sounds too naughty to be down long :) Just like at school... I always say the naughty ones never get sick. He sounds like such a handful. I understand the stress that comes from being a dog mom.. hang in there. Keep us posted. Hopefully, tonight he'll be home and tomorrow running around.

11-16-2013, 03:45 PM
Hi Everyone
I was able to stay busy today and try to keep my focus on the things that I needed to do and NOT call and harass the people at the hospital about Cody. I waited and called at exactly 2:30 like the vet said. Not a minute sooner or later. The tech said that Cody has continued to improve and everything looks good with him. Through this situation, none of his labs or vitals have been out of range. Cody's original vet will be back at 6 PM to assess his status. She said to give her some time to do her rounds and to deal with emergency cases. If we haven't heard from her by 8 PM to give her a call.

I am trying really hard not to get wound up over all of this. When I get wound it it causes the angioedema to flare up. I swear I am always a work in progress with something. Also, I am very proud of the fact that I haven't stressed eaten over this either. Just trying to keep the focus on where it needs to be and keep everything at an appropriate level.

Teacher Thank you for the support. Congrats on the 2 pounds!

Diana3271
11-16-2013, 11:41 PM
Hi Everyone!

The Cody Bear is back! It was so funny when the tech brought him out. Cody was bounding, jumping and dragging the poor guy. Then DH was sitting there in shock. He thought he would come out walking slow like he didn't feel well. He doesn't seem to have any side effects from all of this. Hopefully everything will be fine from here on out. Thank you very much for all the support and well wishes. I appreciate being able to come here to post my thoughts and get support from everyone about these life challenges.

I'm glad that I had our Vet called poison control and started a case about this situation. The hospital also had to follow up with poison control several times to get information. It was easy to get the necessary information once the case was started. Also, a friend of ours had a similar situation with his dog. He called poison control himself and it was a huge pain because he was on hold forever, etc. I think the Vets have a different access to the people in the know.

I kept my eating in check and didn't stress eat today. :carrot:

I took a rest day, no workout.

Enjoy your evening!

Hi Everyone!

Check-In: Kimberly Spreen's Cardio Camp Workout

I am feeling tired today. I think it's from the interrupted sleep this weekend and TTOM starting.

Tomorrow is DH's and my anniversary. I think I mentioned about the favorite/best restaurants in our area. I wanted to work my way through some of them. We have decided to try the best rated Thai restaurant for our anniversary. We will go there tomorrow. We always close at lunch the day before Thanksgiving. We are planning to go to the best rated Indian restaurant that day. We have never been to an Indian restaurant and DH is very nervous about it. The good thing is that they have a lunch buffet. That will give us a variety of options to choose from.

Something funny from this weekend. When the Vet called me on Saturday she said that Cody wasn't eating the food they provided. She said it was wet food. I told her that Cody only eats dry kibble. Today I was reading through all of his report. I saw where he refused food, then she notated that she spoke with me, then the entry said that they gave him kibble and he ate it. From then on, they gave him kibble and he ate it. Now here's the funny part. It kept saying that he was refusing water and wouldn't drink. Cody drinks a lot of water, but we give him filtered water! That bad puppy has become spoiled and picky. On the faucet at the house we have a Pur filter and at the shop I use a Pur Pitcher. When we got home on Saturday night he drank a full bowl of water! He refused the hospital's tap water! He is so spoiled and bad! I don't even want to hear that I made him like that, LOL.

Enjoy your evening!

Hey ladies!

Please accept my sincere apology for not posting for a while. I must admit that I've been really busy getting our pet food charity off the ground and we're had two large deliveries so far and 2 more planned! Holiday stress is also kicking in.....it was a very difficult and stressful weekend here. I'm fearful to comment further in the event a family member somehow sees this. It was the most difficult weekend in years and needless to say, I didn't workout but I didn't eat horribly, which is a plus.

My workouts have been sporadic but I'm forcing myself into moving 5 times a week. Mostly Combat but also walking with my boys. I'm terrified to get on the scale and I'm assuming I'm in the 180's. :( I'm going to read through your posts to catch up.

Take care ladies. I miss communicating with you!!

Diana - Oh my gosh....How SCARY about poor Cody getting into poison. I'm so glad that he's recovered well. We have mouse issues sometimes and I've wanted to put poison out but have been very afraid to do so. I'm so glad that he's safe.

Happy Anniversary :) :cheer: Mine was on 11/12 and it was 8 years of marriage for us!

Teacher i got a chuckle over the "so over it comment". I feel like that with the anigoedema. I am just so over it! I swear the more I think about it the more it flares up. Of course it all revolves around stress for me. Over all of it already!

Laura Thank you! Tomorrow we will be in the 70's but Sunday will be in the 40's! Crazy for sure!

Enjoy your weekend!

Good Morning, Everyone! Happy Weekend!

Last night I didn't do any yoga. I had an angioedema flare up. DH and I both noticed my breathing was weird. When I got out of the grocery store my stomach started hurting. When this starts happening, it's awful. The worst pain I have ever experienced. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it lasts for quite a few hours. This particular symptom is called intestinal inflammation. The antihistamines seem to help with the regular symptoms, facial swelling, hives, etc. I took extra Benadryl last night. The pain gone this morning.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Hi Everyone!

I still can't believe how painful those episodes are when I have them. I am so glad they are not very often. I haven't kept track, but I think I only have one every few months. I marked my calendar this time so I can track them. Cody's situation was a week ago to the day. I have always felt my angioedema reactions were delayed. I have really been trying not to think or worry too much about them since it seems like they are fueled by stress, and that makes for a vicious cycle. I was doing some reading about the stomach pain/intestinal inflammation from the angioedema. It seems like there is an approved medication but it is administered by IV. Of course this would not help my situation unless it didn't let up and I had to go to the Dr. or hospital. It's really weird because I start seeing signs of the weird breathing during the day. The stomach pain will normally start early evening (after 7 or 8 PM). I have never had the stomach pain start earlier than that. Sometimes it's a little later. Craziest thing I have ever seen to have that type of pain start like clock work. The pain is literally so bad that I am doubled over in bed, in a fetal position and cannot move. I finally drifted off to sleep last night. I woke without any side effects, etc. I read that some people get nausea or diarrhea, but I don't. This morning/today I did have a sore chest and neck from my muscles constricting last night. That cleared up late afternoon and there are no other signs of what I went through last night.

I had to go to the area around the mall today. The holiday traffic and shopping has already started. I got stuck in traffic and was running short on time so I didn't get to do any extra cardio.

Laura- hi

My food/exercise plan is falling apart with my family plans. I'm going to try to get the workouts in the morning because the days are getting away from me. Luckily, it's only one week.

Teacher We will close early tomorrow. I'm thinking about going to a Greek restaurant for lunch. If we do, that will probably be my lunch and dinner. We always go somewhere different for lunch on that day, since we don't get to each lunch out. Do you ever eat Greek food? If so, what are your favorite foods? I am working my way through a list of "Best Of" restaurants in our area. Glad you enjoyed the movie. We have reservations for Thanksgiving. It's just me and DH so there's no reason to cook a big meal. After our dinner we will go to the Festival of Lights. We normally drive through but DH gets frustrated with all of the people. If I drive I can't look at the lights. I looked at their website and noticed that they have a train that goes through the whole park. I want to take the train so we both can enjoy the lights without the drama. They also have a fire pit where we do marshmallows and smores. I think it will be fun. We didn't do it last year because of all the traffic. I like the idea of the train and look forward to it.

I found out today that a former check-in buddy of mine passed away. I never expected to find this out. I felt like I was in a funk and off kilter all day.

Diana- I'm sorry for your loss. That would be upsetting news. I'm not really into Greek food except I love Greek salads. I love to look at Christmas lights. Our husbands would get along cause mine has the busy lights traffic too. We try to go look on a weeknight.

Spent the day baking pies at my mom's house.

Happy Hanukkah and Thanksgiving!

Check-In: TF Fire 45 EZ

Teacher Remember that "best of" restaurant list that I mentioned? Well, I am done that with list! I love trying all sorts of food, but it always leaves me feeling full and bloated. I guess all of it has a lot more sodium and msg than I am used to. We closed work early today and went to the Greek restaurant. The food was great, but I felt miserable afterward. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

Yesterday I was with my family all day. Ate way too much food. We're now heading to the in-laws. Hopefully, I won't eat so much today.

Diana- glad you enjoyed the lights. I'm with you on sometimes eating out just isn't worth how you feel after. I'm more into eating at the same place. I'm not that adventurous in eating at new places.
