Lindy and PUPMOM5 good to see you :)

How did you do in October?

I'm hoping to see the 170's before Thanksgiving and then maybe the temptation of all of the good eats won't get to me :D

PUPMOM5

After 9 months of very steady weight loss, I only lost .4 for October. But I'm hoping that was just a nice rest for my body and we'll kick it back into gear for November!

November start weight: 280.8

First Days

11/4: 277.9 - I don't understand why I do this. I'm one weight for a couple days and then loose a large amount. Followed by a standstill or a gain.... so strange!

11/13: 278.0 - Finally looks like the water weight is coming off!
11/14: 277.0 - Goodbye water weight hello fat loss!
11/15: 276.8 - Finished my first day of the c25k workout! I'm loving it!

11/18: 277.0 - Two days in a row...
11/19: 277.2 - I think I figured out the reason for my gains..... I just started running and TOM came for a visit.
11/20: 277.0 - Hopefully this shows I'm going to start going down again.
11/21: 277.6 - I am frustrated today! I am up AGAIN and, I need to run today.... in the cold and the rain!!!

Jess, :yay: I'm glad to have an old friend back

Well I burned 614 calories according to Nike+. I sure hope to see it on the scale in the morning. My norm for the first of the month is to have a gain so hopefully since I was mostly OP today with the exception of 11 Ritz Vegetable crackers I hope to see a lower number :crossed:

Looking forward to a great month

All I'm going to track today is my mood. I don't think I'm going to survive this semester. Please someone remind me again why I've accumulated a lifetime of debt for professors to torture me in the name of education? oh and I've lost more weight. yay. now I go to sleep so I can wake up at 3am to have a panic attack. meh.

dolphin just know it will paid off in the end. I :cp: you. I wish I had done it when I was younger. Now I'm taking an online class for work. And I am finding it difficult to focus. I don't want to read what I need to read. But I am doing surprisingly well so far, by grace. Congratulatons on your weight loss so far :high: No panic attacks  Are you able to set up your ticker now? or Do you just not want to do one? Have a great day :)

woke up to a new low (for this journey) 183.8. I'm proud of me. I just hope I can make it through the weekend without screwing up. You all wish me luck. :crossed: I need to focus and not allow the snacking monster to take over me :D

Have a great OP day everyone

Anyone and everyone steal away!

Lots of working out today - 30 Day Shred L2D2 and restarted C25K outside (again!) at W1D1. I am very tired and not especially expecting a loss tomorrow (probably going to retain some water!) but I am going to make November count!

PUPMOM5 I think if you got all of your water intake in today you should see some movement on the scale. Just my opinion 30DS is hard to me. And C25K I have never completed. I want to give that a shot also. You're doing great :)

I've got a lot of work due before 11:55pm tomorrow night. Wish me luck. I have learned that I don't like shcool. The old saying goes be careful what you wish for (ain't that the truth)

The scale is up today but I expected that - way way WAY too much sodium today, and I ate a good amount of my weekly points. (I'm point/calorie cycling). Not to mention I'm pretty sore from the 30 Day Shred. I'm really hoping this week I might get under 187.

love2b150
11-03-2013, 06:31 PM
PUPMOM5 I'm calorie cycling also but not by the book. It's just the way things are going. Sorry about the soreness but I guess that means it's working. You'll probably get a nice whoosh this week and go under 185 once the sodium leaves and the 30DS workout show. You've got this

Had a great weigh in this morning another new low 182.6 hoping to get under 180 this month and be well into the 170's by Thanksgiving. :crossed:

Hope everyone has a great evening. I've got some school work and a test to do. Yeah, yeah I'm a big kid and waiting until the last hours ;)

Welcome akelly!

Well, I've gone and done it. I threw myself a mini pitty party yesterday and had 7 mini Halloween chip bags. So much for patting myself on the back! I feel like crap. I have TOM, a very painful ear infection and I have a 20 min presentation tomorrow morning I'm nowhere near ready for. I'm ready for this semester end. Ayways, I didn't even enjoy the cheat. I couldn't wait to get back to my diet routine. I don't like losing control, it's not a good feeling. I will try to remember that feeling next time I want to go off the rails.

dolphin we all do it and the good thing is you didn't allow it to linger. You were ready to get back on the wagon. :high: You can do it

I'm up .2 My dinner last night consisted of cashews, a cheese stick and cheese nips. I know that the cheese nips are a no-no for me but the good thing is the serving size is 29 crackers and I ONLY ate what fit in my hand so I am proud of me ... the fact that I didn't go in for another helping. I got off later than usual and the wrench in my schedule has me tired. I didn't get my workout in which the family nor myself are happy about (they waited for me) ... they're so sweet. I would have left :D being honest here. I won't get to go to the gym again until Friday. We have church tonight and I have a class tomorrow night. My Mom is coming Friday for the weekend so I'm gonna try to go right after work :crossed: I'll have to meet the family there. I can't do a week with no gym ... it just wouldn't be good.

I hope you all are doing well today and that we all stay focused and OP

Aww thanks love2b!! It's so great seeing you still active and doing amazing on your progress!! I am dying to get back to the level I use to be at when we first started this! I am running at night...and eating better. Just have to get away from the wheat bread/wheat wraps and I think I'll have this down pat again! Back then I never know how much I would appreciate the 215, 205, 195 numbers....I felt so far from goal but I was focused! Now being at 238 again, I'm like mannnnn I was doing so good!! I hope to get to at least 215 by Christmas....and that will really set me up well for 2014 milestones!!

Thanks again for the warm welcome- hope to see you on here every day :)

akelly I try to come on everyday. Just like you said, "I do so much better when I post daily, the accountability helps." My goal for now is to get to 175-177 by Thanksgiving. I honestly have no clue how but I sure am gonna try :). When I did this 3 years ago it was a breeze now it's taking forever for the weight to come off. But we did it before we can do it again

manna :wel3fc: come join us ... LOL, gotta keep it positive to keep this weight moving :) otherwise we'd binge ;) or maybe that's just me :D

VGibs :wel3fc: and to the thread. Good job on your weight loss so far :high: LOL on the cookie dough ... my daughter brought her package home the beginning of Oct. I ordered 3 containers (90 cookies each) so it says it will make. I am gonna have to use some serious will power not to eat those cookies after smelling them bake. But if I recall right the home baked cookies didn't do bad on the scales for me in the past so we shall see. ;)

thanks Carma

I don't even want to get on the scale tomorrow. I ate 3/4 of a bag of Fit & Active popcorn after church tonight. I was hungry and that was the best thing I could think of. Thank goodness my little one finished it off ... love that girl, she wants everything mommy has :) now to drink my green tea and go to bed.

Nite nite all, rest well

VGibs, it's an Aldi Foods brand. Their stuff isn't too bad. That popcorn taste about like the popcorn I normally eat so I was shocked I didn't have a gain. But once I ate a bag of popcorn and drank 2 glasses of milk and noticed I had a small loss each morning. I found that interesting. :) I may try that this evening since I am already almost at my calorie limit for the day. I actually need to take in more protein today. I'll figure it out. I use myfitnesspal to see my daily nutrient intake. I was .2 down this morning. The .2 that I was up yesterday :) I think the food in Canada is healthier than here though right!? I think is what I have heard or read, idk :)

Hi Darla :welcome: to the thread. :) You've done great on your jouney so far keep up the good work :high:

Rennie - Well we have way more strict food restrictions here. Like every single item legally has to have nutrition facts on it. And we have a strict format for meat production. I'm a farmers daughter so I know a lot about meat production. :)

Finally, some movement down! I ate mostly protein yesterday, took my dog on a 45 minute walk and listened to a Jillian Michael's podcast (about how most "plateaus" are just laziness with tracking, so I got really serious) and bam! Down 1.2lbs this morning. Tomorrow is my official weigh-in day so hoping to maintain or, dare I hope, lose more. My pattern for the past few months has been no loss for quite a while, then a ton gone at once. Fingers crossed! I want to hit my 100lbs lost by Thanksgiving or, if not, my birthday on 12/11.

I'm down .4 to 181.4. I would have loved for that scale to say 180 or 179 but I stayed up until midnight and 2.5 hours less sleep does not do the body good. Better luck tonight.

Hi Donna nice weigh in :crossed: for things to continue to go in the right direction for all of us :D

Ashley 14lbs is a great start. Water weight loss is always a great thing :) Best of luck to you this week, you can do it :)

Well my calories today were off the chain. In all of my years of calorie counting I have never added all of the junk I ate when I messed up. Today's meals were planned on MFP as usual. I heated my cream of cran soup up for lunch (left the top off) picked up my laptop and knocked it over. So after cleaning the floor (rug) I had to go to the store to buy some pants (couldn't walk around for the next 5.5 hours smelling of crab) I didn't have time to eat the salad that I had brought to go with my soup so I bought a bag of sour cream and onion chips. Not a wise decision. Between the drive back to work and then coming home I ate the entire bag 3.5 servings. I also had about two servings of cheddar popcorn, and two servings of cheddar crackers, SMH. What on earth happened … my brain malfunctioned and my month went crazy. I then came home and ate part of a fried chicken breast. So according to MFP I was over in calories by 1005. My calorie burn tonight according to Nike+ was 596 so that is still 409 calories more than I should've had. I will do better tomorrow and the rest of the week. NO MORE slip ups and NO MORE loosing control.

Rest well everyone  oh my goodness I just realized I had a whole can of regular Coke because I was so sleepy by 3:30 it was crazy. … oh well it's already bad I'll just not add it.

Good night

Reenie- I'm sorry you had a slip up, we all do! important is that you're still here marching on.

I've been on plan, doing the same thing I've been doing the past 3 weeks, but instead of losing I'm gaining!! Over the past 4 days, I've regained the last pound I lost and I really don't know what to do. I'm so discouraged. :(

Welcome to the newbies Ashley and Melissa! Always nice to have more people on the wagon to hold each other accountable!

Ashley- WHOA what a whoosh!! 14 pounds is awesome- what a great first week. You killed it!

lotsakids- congrats on the downward movement :) You are currently where I want to be in a month! I am dying to get back to under 215....that is so close to onderland!

dolphin- hang in there! These trying times are very hard...but as long as you stick to your plan I know you will see results! May not be scale losses, but I'm sure you are toning or shedding pounds somewhere!

love2b- man, we were in sync yesterday. I had way too many calories, I vegged out on Wendy's last night and 2 choc chip cookies. Ugh.

As for me- had a 2.6 pound loss last week! Hoping for more this week. Even though my Monday was horrible, I am back on track today. I ran 3 miles on Sunday (only walked 1/2 a mile during the whole time). Felt great, and the scale was very rewarding for that hard work!

love2b150
11-12-2013, 10:04 PM
VGibs, I usually ask myself why I did that also. But this time it was just lack of time and I was hungry and the chips were $1. I really thought that I could recover at the gym until I added everything up and found that I was over 1000+ calories, smh. The good thing is I didn't let it totally derail me as I have before. :)

dolphin please don't get discouraged. You know that you are doing everything you are supposed to do and your whoosh is coming. Be patient my Dear and stick with us. We will do this together

akelly good job recovering and Nice loss for the week :high: I so wanted Burger King this evening (but I didn't cave) and only because I had to go to the bathroom that's why I was in there (accident on the highway) I only had one snack today 170 calories pack of cheetos, smh, but still within my calories. We did good :)

Well I've summed up my day, hoping for a nice weigh in tomorrow, Night ALL

VGibs way to GO :high: It's funny to me how we can eat higher calories and still lose. The body is so interesting. But that is also why I like to calorie cycle. I just don't have to time to plan with it like I use to.

Ladies I weighed in at 180.8 this morning. Oh my goodness … that number truly made me smile. I stepped on the scale twice before my shower and once after, same number :yay:

Congrats Reenie, VGib & akelly!! that's awesome.

Well, I got discouraged, I cried, I fell of my plan (with reason) and I'm moving on. I'm seeing a pattern emerge. I weight every day and when I see something I don't like, I feel horrible and comfort myself with food. This is counterproductive. I decided I will from now on only weight once a week, On Mondays, since it corresponds with the Christmas challenge weight in. I will keep focused on remaining on plan, which should help in keeping from the emotional roller coaster relationship my scale and I are in.

I would like to join you all. I am feeling a bit lost now that I have quit daily weigh ins. I need the daily check in and accountability for my plan so this should be a good fit for me without the love/hate relationship of my scale. :)

If the number isn't one that I like I get on it a few times more (if I have time). If the number is shocking like today, I get on it a few more times just to make sure it's right … yes I am a scale junkie. When I was a SAHM I weighed all day. It was crazy. I'm glad I can't do that anymore :)

Had a very bad night last night food wise. I ate great all day but left for the hotel (I work out of town each week) and was in pretty good spirits to workout. By the time I got to the hotel, I was freezing, hungry, and wanted to just in the bed and watch tv. So I ordered room service and did just that....

Kicking myself mentally and physically....but I have got to accept it and move on. Silver lining: Several weeks ago I never would have this much guilt over going off plan, that has to show progress, right??

Afternoon everyone! :cheer:

Thank you Rennie for the welcome! I appreciate it. :)

Akelly, traveling is the worse! I went through something similar a few weeks ago and it is hard enough to stay on plan when you are at your home base. It also takes alot out of you and there is plenty of time for you to make up for that missed workout when you are feeling up to it. Don't beat yourself up too bad.

As for me, I'm still staying away from the scale and sticking to my plan. I got my water and exercise in yesterday and was below my calorie range. :D

Have a great one! :cheer3:

My addiction to the scale runs deep too. 2 days in and I already caved in! Thankfully it was for some good news. I will make sure to stay away from it the next few days.

I have lunch with a friend tomorrow and I'm a little worried. I don't want to go over my calories and I don't know how possible it will be.

akelly that is my problem sometimes. I do well all day and then the evening hits and I'm tired and hungry. I've always admired your ability to stay on plan as much as you travel, so don't beat yourself up. and like you said a several weeks ago you would not have thought about it and now it matters. :yay: for you, You're getting it all in line :high:

rebelle, I've got to work harder at getting all of my water in. Especially today. I made or should I say enhanced some cream of crab soup and the clam juice has 100mg of sodium per tablespoon :yikes: So gotta get the water today for sure :)

dolphin, do you know where you are having lunch? If so, check out there menu on line and when you get there don't even look at the menu. Order what you planned in your calorie range and voila you are good to go :D

I'm really hoping to see a woosh, even though TOM has started today. :( Next week, I don't plan on eating more than 5-10 of my Weekly Points - hoping to get a good loss before Thanksgiving (although probably not going to hit 6 more lbs.)

Dolphin, I hear you on the scale. It has been tough for me not weighing and especially today because even when I wasn't weighing daily, I always weighed on Fridays for most of my life. I hope you enjoy your lunch and I know you will do great!

Rennie, I have an 18 cup Pur water filtration system in my fridge and I fill that bad boy up almost every day. I have always been a water person, but I love the taste of it thru my Pur. :) Congrats on maintaining!

PupMom, I am sure you'll get the whoosh in a day or two! :crossed: Mine usually hits around Day 3 or 4.

Therecoveringfatchic, way to go on starting the C25K program! Woohoo! You rock!!! :dancer:

As for me, I'm still chugging along on plan and came <--> this close to weighing, but said nope...not gonna. :D

Feeling a little heartburn from my weekly latte. Must be the guilt over the sugar. :o With my new tweaking of my plan, I am trying to not be so restrictive and really make this a lifestyle instead of a diet. It is going to take some getting used to. Whatever it takes to stay on track. I am going to have my first potato in months today. Should be interesting, but the potassium will probably be good for me. I look forward to eating something new instead of the same 'ol protein and veggies that has kept me at a turtle's pace for months now.

dolphin I'm sure you'll do fine :) Enjoy :)

therecovering WTG on starting C25K, you ROCK :high:

rebelle I usually do well also. But with diabetes and often times not eating like I should I go to the bathroom often and that's not so easy at work. So unless I have a mostly protein day which is what I should be doing anyway, I just try to not to drink more than 3 bottles at work. Then I have to worry about the ride home and accidents on the highway and finding a bathroom in the dark. I'm pretty ok at home :) Enjoy your potato :)

I had some baked beans and a half beef frank when I got home (because that is what my son had prepared after school for himself and didn't finish.) I only ate cup. Feeling good about that. But earlier I ate an entire bag 3 oz of Cheetos and 5 vegetable crackers. I went over calories by 337 (but I will walk them off no problem) the sodium is what is the killer here … over by 1602mg that is a ton of sodium. MFP sure does put things in perspective for ya. I've also been spotting for the past 3 days on and off so I think that is the reason for my off eating here and there. These times make me look forward to TOM coming and of course going :D

Well have a good evening everyone

Rennie, before MFP, I had NO IDEA I ate so much sodium! And once I see it up really high, I know my weight will take a hit - but, luckily, it comes off.

.6lbs down for this week, with TOM raging, so I'll take it. :) I haven't done my 30 Day Shred in a week and a half, and talked myself out of it this morning - too many cramps. I'm going to meet all the goals of my FitBit flex this week everyday - 10k steps, 2k calorie burn, 5mi walked.

Morning everyone! :sunny:

PupMom, great job!

Great attitude Rennie! I hear you on the sodium. I went over a bit myself, I am sure.

I made roast with red potatoes yesterday and I always use the bag method with onion soup mix. I am sure the potatoes absorbed a good bit of the sodium but they were delish! I did great though. I only had one serving of each for lunch and dinner and came in under my calories for the day. I did feel a little funky after being so strict with my carbs for so long, but it was worth it! :)

Have a great day! :cheer3:

This sodium thing is so hard to get under control! I'm over my sodium allowance every day. Yikes. Well I weight-in at 255.2 this morning, if the last 2 weeks are any indicator, now that I've had my little woosh, I'll probably be stuck at this weight for 3-4 days, and I'm ok with that.

Rebelle- When is your official weight-in? Do you weight once a week only? I have not kept to my promises at all. I've weighed myself everyday lol. Thankfully, it's been a good relationship the past few days with a little woosh, but I know the dip is coming!

PUPMOM5, LOL MFP sure does make that light shine :D. and :) thank goodness water can wash all of that salt away :) I think TOM has arrived here also but I never know at this stage in my life. It will come, leave and then come back. :dizzy: I told my son that I will probably do strength training with him this week because I don't know if I want to speed walk.

Thanks rebelle :) The soup mix has always been salty to me. I would always add extra water, but it does enhance the flavor for sure and the bag just holds it all in :D.

dolphin I usually do pretty well with my sodium but I knew that TOM had to be near since I was eating things that I (here lately) would ignore.

The boys fixed breakfast this morning, eggs with cheese, cornbeef hash, and pancakes. The smell of it all is making me want to puke :barf: I had two slices of Healthy Life whole wheat toast, and tuna. A little crampy this morning but hopefully Midol will help with that.

Hi everyone!

Dolphin, I am probably over my sodium allowance every day, too because I don't even count the sea salt and cajun seasonings that I use regularly although I try to eat more pepper than anything else. I have to hope that all the water I drink counter acts some of it and so far, I have been very lucky with my numbers at the doctor. I'm sure that day will come though when they tell me to cut back. Oh, and you asked about when I weigh: I am weighing once a month now. I quit weighing daily on the 8th of November and a few days later decided instead of weekly, I would go on and try to do monthly when I measure. The daily fluctuations and hormone cycles were affecting my moods and now I can at least check that off my list as to a cause. ;) That is great that your scale relationship is going swell this week! Absence is making my heart grow fonder, too.

Rennie, hope you are feeling better! I haven't felt that great with this TOM either. I'll be glad when they are gone forever! Hope your gym time was a success! I'll have to look for the Healthy Life whole wheat toast. Is that a specialty store item? I miss sandwiches. I don't mind as much when I eat hamburger because lettuce/tomato wrap does me fine, but turkey day is coming and I wanna turkey sandwich by gosh. :^: I was going to pick up some thins if I can't find anything better and I might even get white instead of wheat. Oh my! Luckily, it is just once a year.

Donna, Outstanding loss!!! Woohoo! Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well.

PupMom I have never considered myself a good cook because I don't use a spice rack and don't know what most of the stuff even tastes like, but I hold my own on southern and cajun dishes. I think it just takes practice on new things and luck on others. I remember once many years ago I made the most fabulous homemade macaroni and cheese for the fam. I tried several times after and was never able to make it taste as good as that first time. So weird. :dunno: I also think our moods affect how things taste at times.

I had another great day yesterday. My weekly summary: I had a couple of low calorie days that I am trying to avoid this time around, but my weekly average was 1370 calories a day so I am calling it a win for the week. With exercise and a perfect world, I should have lost at least 2 lbs but whether I did or I didn't, I had a good healthy week and I feel thinner. All my winter clothes are roomy and I am swimming in my winter "lounging" attire. I may have to start wearing my bras on the tightest hooks so I won't feel so skinny when I am around the house.

Have a great day! :cheer3:

rebelle, I actually found that bread at Kroger. I was using Nature's Own but the Healthy Life brand is cheaper and the slices aren't as thick. What I like about both is that neither make me want more bread (carbs). When I'm done I'm done. This time TOM is full blast. I learned two years ago that drinking Sprite helps slow the flow, not sure how but it works. My gym time was pretty good. I am proud of myself. I set the treadmill at performance (I think) and it went up to an elevation of 9.0. I surprised myself that I was able to do it. It makes my 4.0 or 5.0 elevation seem flat :D. I've got to get some strength training in though. Looking at my body makes me shake my head. With all that I'm doing, I'd like to look in the mirror and at least crack a grin :). I'm glad this major food day is just once a year also. Great NSV on the low calories for the week and on the loose clothing :high:

I went over in calories today but I don't feel bloated or anything so they must be good calories if that makes sense. I cleaned my side of the closet and my pile of clothes beside the bed. When I pull out something and it doesn't fit properly I just add it to the pile. Tonight I finally asked my little one to throw all of that stuff on the bed (I have no choice but to organize it that way) It looks like a different room and closet ;). I also cleaned the oven. The boys spilled something and just left it there (REALLY). I don't want them using the cleaner so I cleaned away. I took a two hour nap this afternoon so now I need to make myself go to bed.

Have a good night Everyone

Ughhhhhh It was my birthday last week and I celebrated....a lot. I had a dinnenr out with friends and way too much wine. And then a party at my BFF`s house which she made a ton of salty snacks and I had too many ciders and ate way too much food. Feeling lousy about it this morning as I went up more then what I lost. Rennie, we don't have a Kroger so I'll be on the lookout for the Healthy Life brand at the two stores I frequent. Interesting about the Sprite. I know it helps me with upset stomach, but hadn't heard the TOM stuff. Great job on the treadmill! Woohoo! :)

VGibs, belated Happy Birthday! That is great that you have so many friends that care about you and celebrated with you. We all go through the after birthday flashbacks, but luckily it is just once a year and it is good to blow it out on occasion to keep life fun. ;) I'm sure you'll feel better tomorrow after a day back on track!

My calories were definitely too low yesterday and I didn't make great choices on what I did eat. I was bulk cooking for the week and I find that if I am in the kitchen cooking that I don't want to eat. Rennie, I too need to have a low carb day.. but I love carbs so much.. It's a struggle!

VGibs, the Flex is the new one. It sits in a bracelet around your wrist and tracks your steps, calories burned, distance and active minutes. You can set a main goal for yourself (mine is 10k steps/day) and it tracks that on the bracelet, vibrating and doing a little light dance when you meet it. The new Flex will give you all the stats, which is way better and I'm jealous.

So, in my quest to learn to cook, I picked up a cooking school schedule from Dierbergs (a fancier supermarket chain in the midwest) but so much of the food is way too sophisticated for my husband and I. There is a class on soups that I thought might be good, but I don't think the soups are overly healthy. I've been searching for some videos online but so far, nothing really useful (they assume you know the basics - I do NOT.) Does anybody have any experience with cooking classes or videos online?

Rebelle and love2b, thanks so much for the kind words last week about my off plan day. I got right back on track and haven't gone off course since then! I'm actually working from home for the next 2 weeks so without the distraction and exhaustion of traveling, I'm hoping to really see some progress!!

Rebelle: nice job on the bulk cooking. I wish I could get into that! I can barely cook for 1 meal lol.

VGibs: Happy birthday girl!! You can work that off- glad you enjoyed yourself and celebrated YOU!

PUPMOM5: way to go!!!! Please tell us more about fitbit. I'm also interested to learn.

love2b: wow, 3.5 miles! I did 3.1 yesterday (jogging mostly, 5 mins total of walking). My scale did not bounce down like I had hoped for! :(

As for me, like I mentioned, yesterday I jogged 3.1 miles!!!! Was so elated and proud of myself! The down side: I only lost .4 on the scale this morning, and I ate within my calories!!! AHHHHHHH. But watch, if I don't run today I'll have a whoosh. This body can be so frustrating! I'm also finishing TOM soooo I'm hoping once this devil goes away, I'll see more consistent losses.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

VGibs, I'm not sure how it works but the reviews and the people that I've talked to over the years here on 3FC love it. I didn't buy it before because it was more expensive I think. But at $99 and I think Walmart even carries it now, I'll give it a shot. :)

PUPMOM5 maybe we can plan one a week together and our goal for the rest of the year will be to stick to it for those weeks. Who knows if we do well we may implement more and lose better ;) I learned how to cook sitting in the kitchen watching my great-grandmother when I was little. I don't measure anything unless it's a new recipe. I go by taste and I can usually tell what's in something I like just by the taste. My family hates the way I taste (try) new things :D

akelly I'm hoping to see better numbers at the end of this week also with TOM hopefully gone :). Good job on jogging. I can do a brisk walk at 3.7 but when I get up to 4.2-4.4 I can only do 30 seconds and I feel overwhelmed. I don't know why I don't push harder. :crossed: that your whoosh comes soon :)

yesterday I burned 514 calories but the scale was still up .6 to 182.2. My sodium was high yesterday and it's high today. The clam juice that I used in my crab soup is full of sodium which I didn't know until after I entered the ingredients on MFP and by then it was too late. I'm not going to throw it away (mom of five here, don't wanna waste food). I have two servings left.

Hi everyone! It is a be-a-u-tiful day! :sunny: I love these cooler temps and low humidity.

PupMom, :yay: Yay on the downward trend! You are going to make your Thanksgiving goal for sure!!! I hope you find what you are looking for in a cooking class. Sometimes the local high schools will have "community classes" that might have a basic cooking class.
I have been looking at the Jawbone UP lately. Ironically, I am really curious about the sleep function that the Up and FitBit Flex have. The nerd in me loves the technology and I also never feel like I get enough sleep so it would be interesting to track it along with the bonus of seeing how much movement I have each day. Unfortunately, the UP isn't PC compatible (yet?) and I like to be able to sync across phone, tablet and computer so that might keep me from putting it on my Christmas list. :(

Dolphin, thanks for the congrats! Believe me, it was tough stopping the daily weighing because I have been doing that for a couple of years, but once I got the scale out of my line of sight, it wasn't screaming at me every time I walked by. Then I kept reminding myself how discouraging it had been for me with its fluctuations. I'm going to be counting my calories for the rest of my life so I just didn't need that aggravation any more. Now, I pretend I am a big kid that is waiting on Christmas morning each month and hope that I won't be disappointed.

Rennie, 3.5 miles! Wow! Great job!!! :carrot: I hope you are measuring. I'll keep the Sprite in mind next cycle. Mine is more of a pain issue than heavy flow, but I'll try anything. :) ETA: Just saw your new post and wanted to say that I'm sure that water weight will be gone soon and the scale will be nicer! Hang in there! 5 kids! You have your hands full.

Akelly, great going on getting back on track and sticking with it! 3.1 miles is awesome and jogging mostly. Fantastic! I bet those inches are melting away!!! Congrats on the .4 loss, too! All those losses add up and is way better than a gain. :cp:

I was a little above my calorie range yesterday, but due to eating so low the day before my 2-day average was within range. I keep thinking that if WW works banking points for the week then I should be able to bank calories for the week. As long as my daily calories are at a deficit and I keep my weekly average within range then it should all come out in the wash. :dizzy: Anyway, I'm going to try it out through the holidays and worse case scenario, I won't gain and won't feel too deprived. :crossed:

Have a great healthy evening! :cheer3:

Rennie, hey - that's a good idea! Maybe if they're planned days, we'd stick to them.

That's a good idea, rebelle! I'm going to look at the local community college. The FitBit's sleep function is interesting but it makes me sad, because I'm so restless and I need a lot of sleep. (Not FitBit's fault, just jarring to see the numbers.) The FitBit syncs to most smartphones as well as having a dongle to sync to the computer. There's also the Nike Fuelband that some people love. I don't know too much about it.

I started tracking my calories and fitness last week. I've been a little dismayed at how many calories are in some of my favorite foods. I am low carbing so most days I do okay on the calories but those nuts... they get me.

Morning everyone! :goodvibes

Donna, I hear you on the high calories in our favorite foods! I eat a good bit of protein and there are just so many boneless skinless chicken breasts you can eat. :) Nuts are high, but they are filling. Unfortunately they are so good that it is hard to stop at a serving and also expensive!

I was right in the middle of my calorie range yesterday and got tons of exercise. So, A+ day for me. :D

Have a fantastic day everyone! :cheer3:

My scaled didn't budge today and today is my official weigh in...I think I may wait till tomorrow. I looked up the fit bit online and it looks interesting. I would be mega worried about the sleep part though because I have a newborn.

love2b - Sodium always gets me! and then when I try to drink water to flush it out, I'm stuck peeing every 15 mins! Viscious salt!!

rebelle - Great job on the stellar day!!! A+ days really make our moods and outlook so much better. It's tough to be perfect all day, but us ladies in here have it down ;)

PUPMOM5 - Sleep is so essential to our well being and our weight loss journey. Sending good vibes your way that you get some great, long lasting, restful sleep! I hope you look like those NyQuil commercials where the person is knocked out cold!!!

lotsakids - YES!!! completely agree with you! I LOVE peanuts and cashews, but the calorie count is off the charts! I did low carb for a while and had great results! I've been having GI issues this year so I can't go low carb right now since I need to eat consistent high fiber foods and whole grains. Good luck!!

As for me...in the words of rebelle I had an A+ day! I did another 5k (3.1 miles) down by the river and it was an awesome day! I shaved 5 whole mins off of Monday's time. I'm going to try to go back today and see if I can slash anymore time off again! I'm down 1.2 pounds today. I know my body and I know a 2 pound whoosh is possible, so I'm just hanging in there and waiting patiently. 1.2 pounds is a mini whoosh so I will take it and keep trying!

Hope everyone has a fabulous HUMP DAY! (lol I assume everyone's offices and friends are just as annoying with that trend right now as mine are!)

VGibs Hang in there! I'm sure you'll see some movement soon. :)

Akelly Thanks! I agree that when I am on plan it does make me feel that sense of pride. I know that if I can string together enough of those feel good days that I will see rewards in one way or another on the health front. :D WE DO ROCK!!!
And CONGRATS to you on your A+ day, too and WOOHOO on the loss of 1.2! :bravo: You are really kicking it on the exercise. Great job!!!

I'm still chugging along. Had an okay eating day yesterday at the high end of my calorie range, but still a nice deficit for the day. And I am starting to sleep better so that is always nice. :cloud9:

I hope everyone else is doing well this week! :grouphug:

Thanks rebelle :) LOL, one is grown and married. She just moved back to NC with her husband and will send me a text saying MOM!!! when she wants something :D I hope it's water weight :crossed: the scale is up more today :(

PUPMOM5 let me know which day you want to do the low carb day. We can plan it out and try it next week if you want. Eggs, meat, cheese and fish I guess, huh? and what number do we want to set the limit? I'm excited about this since I know some one will be eating the same meals with me :D I don't get enough sleep either. I get up twice a night most nights to pee :(

Donna good job on tracking :bravo: Don't worry about the nuts. I know that the fat in them are good fats so I just keep that in mind. I only eat a of a cup though. I try to make sure I count them out ahead of time. :) or I'll eat half the bag/can :D

VGibs, hoping the scale will be nice to us both

LOL akelly that is me with the water, drives me nuts. :dizzy: but I also know that it's the diabetes because if I have a low carb mostly protein day I don't pee as much. Good job on the A+ days and the 1.2lbs gone :high: I'm so trying to get back there :)

Well I was up 2.6lbs today to 185.8 :yikes: I hadn't been to the gym in two days and I'm not sure if that was it or just poor eating. I'm so glad TOM is gone maybe I can focus on eating properly. I want to actually do a liquid fast for about two days and see how that works. Not sure if I can though. I did 3.26 miles today my pace was slower than normal. I just couldn't get up there and the gym is closed tomorrow. Maybe we can go to the Duke wall and walk. I wonder if it's lit in the evening?

Well gonna try to get to bed early tonight, I hope we all rest well tonight and have great numbers on the scale tomorrow, sending :goodvibes to ALL

PUPMOM5 I have a low carb day planned for tomorrow (nope didn't go to bed like I said :D) The only problem is the calories are too too low (right now) hoping I can fit some more in. Calories 870/Carbs 16/Protein 74

Happy Friday Ladies,

I am down 3.4lbs of salt/water to 182.4 this morning. Also TOM is gone so that may have helped. I still won't be happy until I am back to my low of 180 point something. But at least I know I am on my way.

I hope you all have a great day, be back later

Oh PUPMOM5 so far I have 1050 calories, 18 carbs and 91 protein is what I have logged. I don't particularily care for the chicken sausage so I don't know if I will get the other half in or not :)
ETA: I'm not sure what would be a good goal. My son says that if we work out we must have carbs because that's where our fuel/energy comes from. I'll have to ask Mr. Research this evening ;)

Hey all. :) I usually hang out around the calorie counters board. :P

Just popping into the conversation here.

I think the fitbit FORCE is the new one, not the flex. But I could be wrong.

I'm asking for a fitbit force for xmas this year. :o

If anyone is going black friday shopping next week I was looking at the advertisements for different stores and found that at target if you buy the fitbit flex on black friday (Usually $99) you can get a $20 target gift card back. & At best buy if you buy the force (Usually $129) you will get a $20 best buy gift card back. :o

The Force is the newer version (I hadn't realized they changed the name.) I am super irritated that they released the Flex and then, before even a year, released the upgrade... and, yet, I think I want one!

Ah I only heard about them I think.... in September? So I hadn't realized they had come out with it so soon. That's always annoying because now it's like... if I get the force for xmas they will prob have a new one with way cool features in like the spring. :P

Still I think it'll be super useful. I want to see what it says about my sleep. I have trouble falling asleep but I think once I fall asleep I sleep soundly. But we'll see.

Afternoon everyone! :grouphug:

Congrats Rennie on your nice loss! :yay:

Good luck Rennie and PupMom on your low carb endeavors! It definitely helps with the bloat.

Welcome MakeBelieve! Thanks for the Black Friday info. I'm too chicken to fight with the crazy folks around here. :dizzy: It seems like I do more and more of my shopping online each year.

I got a ton of exercise today. I kept thinking that I sure would like to have a Margarita or three tonight, but talked myself out of it. One more week until I get to weigh in so I'm going to try to behave myself. I usually drink White Russians during the holidays so I might put that on my To-Do List for December after I weigh...I will get in some popcorn tonight though so hopefully the water weight will be gone by the 1st. :D

Have a great weekend everyone! :beach:

I hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful weekend!

I had another good week. I used all of my calories, but didn't go over and got in over 8 hours of exercise. I am not batch cooking this week. I plan to take a week off of any red meat and stick with white meats (chicken and turkey breasts) and maybe some tuna. I don't eat my exercise calories back so I should have lost at least 2 pounds, but I am not sure how these added carbs are affecting the loss. I still have some red potatoes left, but probably won't buy any more for awhile when they are gone. They sure have been good though. I feel like I am finally passing my "food boredom" stage and ready to buckle down with better choices to end the year strong. I know it is all about calories in/calories out, but I just don't feel as well with the added carbs.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week and holiday! :thanks2:

PupMom, 100 lbs is amazing. 99 lbs is amazing! :D You are doing fantastic!!!

I'm hoping to get over the 50 lb mark on Sunday, but 48 lbs is still pretty special. It took me a long time to lose it so I hope it stays off this time!
I had a planned higher calorie day yesterday, but stayed around 1800 so not so bad. Still netted a healthy deficit. :) Got some good exercise in today.

Just dipping in. Thank you so much for the Facebook post Rennie. Such a shock :(
I have been in trouble. My Dad has just been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. He has been given a few months to live. It has been an awful shock. We are trying to cope. I haven't weighed myself in months, but still fit into my clothes and measurements look a little down, even if I feel chunkier. It doesn't seem to matter right now. I know I am healthy, eat right and look good. Enough said when i used to be 300lbs and very depressed.
Take care today people x

makebelieve :welcome: to the thread :) I haven't heard of the FitBit Force, Im gonna have to look that one up but the Flex is on sale on ebay for $70 so I like that price ;) I have only had money one year on Black Friday so I'll miss that great deal at Target, we're broke :D I'd like to see my sleep patterns also.

PUPMOM5 too bad we don't live near I could buy yours :) CONGRATULATIONS on the 100lbs/99lbs GONE :woohoo: Keep up the great work :high:

rebelle, thanks for the comment on the 22nd. Unfortunately I am back up again, smh. Nice job on the margarita's :high: Good mindset on the carbs. I need to focus more so that I don't eat my exercise calories. That is sure to help me get back down also. :) CONGRATULATIONS on the 50lbs/48lbs GONE :woohoo: Keep up the great work :high:

PUPMOM5 and rebelle … Keep your heads up, you are doing this thing :cheer:

VGibs good job on the 3lbs gone :high:

Sam I am sorry to hear about your Dad, enjoy your time with him. My Dad passed in 2002, he had throat cancer. He was diagnosed in 1997, he was a trooper and fought a great fight. Trust me I know it's hard but take care of yourself too, your Dad wouldn't want it any other way. He needs you to continue to smile and be his rock  That news is a shock. I had called her and she didn't call back which isn't like her, then Diana asked me about her again and I decided to look her up. She will be missed.

Donna, I need to clean this house like you wouldn't believe. My children take advantage of the fact that I don't go upstairs. I know that if I do, they won't have anything because if it's on the floor, I will bag it and throw it out. I can't stand a mess and they have a mess up there (my oldest and her husband came over and asked me had I been up there) ah NO!!!! However, cleaning does burn calories that I need to burn ;)

Well calories and carbs are high today and I mean high. I walked 4.12 miles and burn 605 calories but I don't know if it will combat the carbs. One can only hope.

Well you all keep up the great work you are doing and putting in. I hope to get back into the groove soon.

Hi Rennie! Thanks for the congrats. I'm still hanging in getting nervous about Sunday's monthly weigh in. Wow, you have averaged over 2 miles a day walking. Way to go!!!

PUPMOM5: Congrats on the 100 pound mark!!!

rebelle: Congrats to you too!! Awesome numbers :)

VGibs: ood job on the 3lbs gone

Rennie: Wow 95 miles thats amazing!!! I hear ya on the upstairs - don't check! I couldn't imagine trying to keep a house clean with kids. I can barely keep up with my dog's toys ;)

Starbrite: I am sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost mine at age 15 (back in 02) to multi system cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and given 6-8 months left. Unfortunately, it was worse than they knew, and 3 weeks later he was gone. It was so hard, but I turned to my family and faith. I still struggle 12 years later but I have such fond memories of him. Spend as much time with him as you can. You will always look back on the last few months and cherish those the most!

As for me, I just got home last night from visiting family/vacay for 5 days. Went to a couple states, went to the mountains and went snow tubing. Ate more than normal and I'm up 2 pounds from last week. I'm now sick with an upper respiratory infection (but still had a blast with family)! Side effect that I like is I have a sore throat so it makes me not really want to eat much. Can't workout obviously, but I'm just looking to feel better.

Happy Thanksgiving all!!!
