Who else wants to greet the holiday season and the new year with a lower weight? Now's the time to make it happen!

State your goal and track it throughout the month with a supportive and encouraging group. We will compile our goals into a list. As each goal is met during the month, it gets turned RED in celebration. Woohoo!

Woohoo! I'm in! Thanks Joy! Well, I've rounded back up to 183 this morning, and no telling which way it will fluctuate from here, so I'll use 183 as my starting weight. I want to lose 6 lbs. I seem to be on target with that amount, so I'll stick with it. I have a big mini-goal coming up, so I really hope November is kind to me and allows me to get there! :crossed:

I didn't quite make goal in October. I had set a goal of 7.4 lbs. and lost 6.6 lbs. which is not too shabby. I was almost there then I gained 0.6 lb. right at the end. I had a URI and had sick grandkids at home so I was complacent about staying on plan. This month I am going to set 5.8 lb.s as my goal which will put me at 189.0

My start weight is: 194.8
My goal weight for Nov. 30 is: 189.0
I want to lose: 5.8 lbs.

I'm in! November and December are going to have lower goals than I've done in the past because I have a lot more functions and have less control over what goes in the food. I'll probably ramp it back up in January. Plus this is getting harder the lower I get!!!

So 5 lbs for November :)

I am going to join here this November for the first time... I have lost close to 2.5 lbs only last month but I was very stressed last month that I couldnt stick to my plan well..

Its a new month and a new start.. So I am going to commit myself to stick to my plan in a much better fashion this month..

11/14: 277.0 - Goodbye water weight hello fat loss!
11/15: 276.8 - Finished my first day of the c25k workout! I'm loving it!
11/16: 276.4 - Yes! I love seeing the scale move down! I am so sore today however!

Count me in again too. I didn't make my goal in October, but I still lost, which was good. (My original goal for that first challenge was 11.6#--- err... no).

I'm going for around what I did loss in Oct, which was about 6 pounds.

I am also in for November. I will set my goal this month for 6 pounds. I made my small goal of four pounds by the second week last month but fluctuated the last two weeks. This month I am starting Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. Its a 90-day program where I am sure Jillian will kick my tail. I need it. I have been "cheating" a lot lately and I am not sure why. If I eat well I lose but if I don't then I either gain or have no change which then Makes me angry and I am an emotional eater. So you all know how the story goes;) I can do this though.

So 6 pounds this month maybe more!

Good morning you guys,

I had a really bad day yesterday -- I was try-out working for 2 days (no pay), and ended up not getting the job :( It was wrapping gifts before Christmas, never thought I'd suck at it so bad ;) Well, I gave my best, and now on to the next thing. I'm in school, and having a little side money would have been nice, but my parents told me to actually work for school as I'm supposed to instead, which I will do, and I will look into a smaller volunteer job. By the way, if anybody has a smart idea of how to wrap a PS3 controller, please let me know, as I've been wrecking my brain all night.

How was everybody's Halloween? Over here in Germany it's not that big of a deal, and we only had 3 groups of trick or treaters. So tons of leftover candy :)
Today is a public holiday over here :woohoo: so I'll spend it studying, and I'll make pumpkin bread later.

Thanks Joy for starting the thread again! I am going to shoot for 6 lbs this month. I am starting up a pound from yesterday, as we had pizza, a couple of beers and a few fun size pieces of candy to celebrate Halloween. It poured rain off and on, but we had a few kiddies come to the door. :spid:

For the first time in six months, I'm starting off a month in my declared maintenance range. But, I'd like to get closer to the bottom of that range for the holiday season.

Glad to see almost everyone from October is doing November and lots of new people too!!

So after picking way too many fun sized candies out of our treat basket, I'm glad that I stayed the same weight today. However my mood is questionable. Its crazy that after only eating small amount of refined sugar over the past couple months, I feel positively slow today.

This morning was a comedy of errors, not the least of which involved a power failure that had me up at 5am dealing with the power company. As a result of all the goings on, I ended up forgetting to weigh myself. So I’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see whether my recent water weight has disappeared.

Jaqui, that sound you hear out bac, that cluck cluck cluck stuff, that is the Big Fat Rooster in his hen suit. My goals of 12 lbs per month the last two months fell flat on his big fat....... well, ya know :D (no, not tummy)

I am in again for this month. I did not weigh for about 4 or five days, need to go back to those other challenges and post and run (cluck cluck cluck) My 12 lb looked easy goals did not work for me. Something going on with me that I gotta find out what is. Anyway, I did weigh this morning and the scales said 242.8

That is 6 lbs down from the start of the month, half of my "easy" (cluck cluck cluck) goal of 12 lbs for the month.

I decided to tone down my goal for this month as bad as I hate to. But after reading yall's posts, looks like several of us decided to do the same thing :D
HA HA !! Love yall :D Making it easier for this ole fat rooster to try again :D

Anyway, I was going to say just six lbs this month, but instead I will try 10 just so as not to make it easy on myself ya know :D

Good Morning :)

I really struggle with eating right when I'm at my parents' house. At school, I only buy foods that fit into my calorie goals, but here, there is anything I could wish for. Fresh bakery Brezels are my downfall. If I don't even start with that kind of stuff (even if one fits into my calorie goal), I do better. So -- no Brezel today, even though they smell SO GOOD. :devil:

I am still a little down about not getting the job, but I scouted 2 more that do not include gift wrapping :D and are closer to my house, so I'll send out applications in the afternoon.

Jacqui_D congrats on the loss! That's the way to start the month!!

Tuscany yeah, my basic needs are covered, but everything else, like clothes and books and booze I need to ask my parents for extras. I guess, I could cut back on those expenses and not work, but it's also that I feel I need to be a little more independent :)

Would be ecstatic goal 190. End of November.

Here's how I plan to do it.
Exercise: 500 minutes of exercise each week. Goal 2000 minutes end of month. Mix of Running, Walking, Piloxing for my cardio once a week and strength training 3 times a week Start small with 1 set of 12 exercises. Build up to 3 sets. Try and get some yoga in each day. Bought a dvd with Am pm with short and long versions. Would like to start towards the end of the month in a Tai Yoga class.
Eating: write it all down. Try to keep calories at goal of 1680. Allow for 1 slip a week.
Water: 100 oz.

Funny I guess that spells EEW which is kinda how I feel about my failed October.

Joy: I fully agree with your comments. I attribute at least half of my success so far to this thread and the companion exercise thread…they really keep me honest and motivate me to stay OP, both in my eating and my exercise.

Tuscany a brezel is... a pretzel ;) it's a little different than what you buy at the malls in the US -- we kinda consider the soft pretzels you dip in cheese sauce blasphemy... and the chocolate covered stuff in ice-cream is just weird. Brezel is basically an own food group in Southern Germany, and so good!

Whew! Talk about fluctuations! Yesterday I woke up 2 lbs up to 183.5, and that was trouble because yesterday was my cheat day (for those of you who are new to the thread, a weekly cheat day is a part of my weight loss plan: a modified version of the Slow Carb Diet), so today I'm up to 185.5! I have to confess that in the last couple of days, I have not drunk enough water. I just have a harder time drinking water when the weather turns cold. It always seems to make me feel colder. Nevertheless, I have to improve on that this week! 2 water-weight lbs after cheat day is fine but 4 water-weight lbs in 2 days???! :fr:

Hey all, I'm still around, just enjoying the start of my summer break and taking time away from the computer :lol: Yesterday I weighed in at 64.7kgs. I don't know how much scale weight I'll lose this month bcos I'm going to start doing workouts on my Swiss ball, hoping to get rid of my stomach flab for Xmas haha

My goal this month is 64 kgs again! :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. We had family dinner today for my sister-in-law. Every year one of the local churches has a sausage supper, and we get dinner to celebrate her being another year older. The order consists of Sausages (5 or 6 links), mashed potatoes, gravy, the world's best sour kraut, green beans, corn, homemade applesauce and a desert. AAaaaargh! So, I took out two of the sausages and had the sour kraut and a little of the homemade applesauce. The rest my hubby can take to work for lunch. It was really tough because our family looks forward to this every year and it is soooo yummy.:hungry: But, I think I did a good job of making smart choices.
I see several of you are already making those scales move! Way to go!!!:carrot:

yeah, I really need to knock my bad eating off :( I don't remember struggling with this earlier in the year. It's dumb, but it's better when I don't have the bad stuff lying around at school.
Anyways, I'm getting my other two wisdom teeth removed later, and fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as last time :p

Jacqui_D I understand what you mean struggling to get water in when it's cold. I don't have a lot of smartass advice other than making sure the water is at room temperature... it helps me. Also, I read room temperature makes you feel more full that cold water, and is easier to digest for the body.

boatingmommy I want to try the world's best sour kraut!! It's a very low cal, filling, nutritious dish. Well, if it's done right!! I tend to pour an entire bottle of cheap champagne over it, kinda defeats the purpose ;)

No, you are not alone. I've finally come to accept that ups, downs, and standstills are all a part of it. I used to get terribly frustrated by standstills and jumps (and even let a jump really get to me as recently as last month), but I'm much better now at looking at the big picture. It'd be nice if it were a straight downward journey, but that's just not how it works, that's not how the body works, that's not how weight loss works, so we just have to relax and roll with it! :beach:

Back up a pound. I would really like to see the whoosh fairy too. However, I think I need to stop making friends with the sodium fairy.
However, I got up and walked this morning for 2 miles in 35 minutes. Now to go and do a Leslie Sansone You tube video and then do some Yoga. Going to take my new Yoga DVD downstairs and do a workout so I don't here it from the kids about taking away their TV time. Almost all 100oz of water intake done. Tomorrow is my day off so looking forward to getting some house stuff accomplished.

Minneey: Glad to hear I am not the only one getting up at 5:30 to exercise. Friday I will need to get up for 4:00 to get any exercise in.
Kellipa: Happy Belated birthday. That is my son's bday too.

YES and YES and yes, ups and downs are part of it. Though I said when I started on this forum I would not weigh but just once a week, I started posting on Sum's daily weigh in, and even I was blown away at how much it was. One one day, and I posted it on the other two threads I was posting in, I did a sudden dip to 240 from 248, then right back up to over 252. I was, frankly, a bit elated that the scales dipped to that 240. But I found some kind of anomaly about that weight, and posted it about a week after but for some reason the post did not stick. I will re-post that now. These new scales, which are very nice, and supposed to be very accurate, are susceptable to some sort of electro-magnetic fields. Some days after that 140 weight I had placed the scales in the same spot..... and 140 again. I moved it over a few feet and it went backup to 146....... So that was that sudden drop in weight. (When I post my last weight this month, may I use that spot again for it????) Anyway, the scales read purt much exact same thing except in that spot. So I stay away from that, don't like the disappointment of seeing a 6 lb gain later.

Both my mood and thinking ability and weight has fluctuated dramaticly this past month, I do not like it. Some days I felt like a Zombie. Day before yesterday I almost could not function at all, today I spent working on building a prototype of a new invention I am working on...... Sure hope for some more days like this one.

Anyway, as a good lady friend of mine is fond of saying, "Life is what happens while we make other plans." LOL now ain't that a b*tch ??

Anyway, my weight overall has been dropping, but goes up and down like a yo-yo as it does, and the "highs" and the "lows" both are on a downward slope overall. And despite knowing that, like Jaqui, I also had a hard time with it last month :D

Hang in there, I see every one of you making progress towards our common goal. to be healthier people who have to go buy a new smaller wardrobe :D

Here in the mid west it is allergy season...and man, am I feeling it. Have not had a good night's sleep in weeks due to either hubby or myself snorting and snotting. :tired: Hoping it doesn't turn into a sinus infection like it usually does. Hey guys, I'm back! It has been a crazy semester but I need to make myself get back on track so I'm gonna make an effort to try to come on here daily.

I am setting myself a tentative goal of 5lbs but may alter that. Yesterday was my first day back on track so hopefully I'll see some water weight dropping off these first few days. Once that has happened I will re-evaluate.

Okay, I've managed to stay away from Ice Cream and all other possible sources of candy. :( I also managed not to overeat. I went to Cardio Boxing last night and went to bed when I got home. I didn't eat after class because:

A. It was after 10pm by the time I got home and showered.
B. I would use working out as justification for eating a lot.

Here's how I plan to do it.
Exercise: 500 minutes of exercise each week. Goal 2000 minutes end of month. Mix of Running, Walking, Piloxing for my cardio once a week and strength training 3 times a week Start small with 1 set of 12 exercises. Build up to 3 sets. Try and get some yoga in each day. Bought a dvd with Am pm with short and long versions. Would like to start towards the end of the month in a Tai Yoga class.
Eating: write it all down. Try to keep calories at goal of 1680. Allow for 1 slip a week.
Water: 100 oz.

Funny I guess that spells EEW which is kinda how I feel about my failed October.

Fees good to see positive results. 200.6 this am. That's 4lbs in less than a week. Woot.

I'm still 64.7kgs (yay), but I haven't really had the chance to build muscle yet... On Monday I went for a run. I planned to do only 6kms but I did 12kms instead. My body went into meltdown and yesterday my legs were so, so sore. Today they've felt better and I'm walking around normal enough, so I'll give the swiss ball a go tomorrow; and probably go for another run lol

Yesterday morning's upswing on the scale gave me a bit of pause, but I know it was because I'd had about 5 cups of veggies for dinner. Note to self: never skip lunch. I didn't let it bother me too much though. Just buckled down, drank tons of water, and this morning I was pleasantly surprised...159.0!!!

I have to remind myself not to get too excited though, b/c these kinds of shifts downward don't usually last for longer than a few days. But I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Oh, and even better, I incorporated dips into my workout yesterday. I kinda like the burn.

yeah, I have crazy fluctuations in my weight -- weird!! Made me mega demotivated, but considering I didn't eat enough to justify a 7lbs gain in 7 days, I figured it's mystery weight. I'm glad it's leaving again!
I am doing very good, removing my wisdom teeth went fine. It's just that I talk and laugh too much at school that my cheek hurts a little bit, but it's really ok :)

Minneey I have so been there! If Will Power fairy visits, tell him I will need him at the beginning of next month for tests and finals. My neuro class sent me into an anxiety binge once this semester already, I do not need a second one!

Learning to Live even if you bloat up a bit, most people tend to have a nice whoosh at the end to balance it out :)

Rhiko wow 12km I'm amazed with you! I just did my first 5k a couple weeks ago, but I can still only run for about a minute at a time before I have to stop and breathe lol congrats and keep it up!

My whoosh is continuing but slowing. I am hoping it pushes me into the 240s again before abandoning me. I think Sat I will choose my official goal weight for the month as the whoosh should be pretty much done then.

I appear to be pretty stable, even though I haven't been particularly "good." But today is a new day, so hopefully I can keep it together. I'd like to make it to 158.X for tomorrow. I will try not to eat after Circuit Training tonight. I had the munchies after last night's Kettlebell class and so I ate a bunch of cashews, an apple and some medjool dates. Ah well, such is life...

Ahhh , checking this thread feels good... Thanks all the personals - had a brief but flighty visit from will power. Also waiting for the earring fairy to return my lost earring please (have turned my house upside down this evening). The whoosh fairy might as well come along for the party then :-)

Rhiko wow 12km I'm amazed with you! I just did my first 5k a couple weeks ago, but I can still only run for about a minute at a time before I have to stop and breathe lol congrats and keep it up!

I'm down a half lb today; however, my scale is acting up. I think I need a new battery. I normally step on it twice just to make sure it gives me the same number each time, but today I had to step on it multiple times for it to settle on the same number in a row. It even went down to 179.5 at one point. (How dare it get my hopes up like that, lol!) It finally settled on 180.5 three times in a row. Just to double-check, I then went downstairs to my non-digital scale and it also gave me 180.5. The thing is I set my non-digital one by my digital one just a couple of weeks ago, so if the digital one had started to be off without my knowing it, they could both be wrong. I am not going to be happy if I have to change my ticker upward! :nono:

Darius, it's a water thing, but it's not unusual. That's how it works. You go up and down and up and down, but overall you keep moving toward your goal, so you just have to roll with the ebbs and tides, and eventually you reach the shore! :beach:

Good morning!!! picked up a new scale yesterday. The old scale has a memory function, but it means that it will weigh a person the exact same number day to day unless there is a fluctuation of greater than half a pound. Basically if you are close to what it weighed you at the day before it goes to that number. I want to see the fluctuations if it means I can see I'm down even just a little.

The new scale and the old scale are off by 2.8 pounds though. :s because I plan on using the new scale from now on I won't worry about which is "right" and just go with the new one. For todays weigh in I weighed on both just to see where I was at compared to yesterday. After today I will just have the new scale.

If the nephew in the wine business is there, my rule is usually "a small glass of each wine A is offering." If not, the rule is usually "no alcohol."

Nov 8th 172..kept hovering between 172 and 171, so just rounded it up as my scale is the old fashion one with the line by line reading and not digital. I also weighed dressed this morning, which I don't normally do.

I haven't been writing down calories or menu during the day, things are crazy. I have been watching carbs and calories, planning my meals ahead of time and using only the allotted calories. Seems to be working for me.

I am eating under 20 carbs a day, drinking my water, and not 1. over eating, or 2. binge eating..both of which have been my downfall my entire adult life. I am starting the 12th day binge free.:o I haven't been this in control of myself in many years and find myself having hope, but also being a bit scared as the weekend is coming and that is the time I have issues. Especially with all 5 kids home this weekend, my husband, and a birthday party planned for him Saturday.

And Jacqui, when I first stepped on the scales this morning they said 238.4, so I moved them twice getting the 240.6 three times. I am going to use that same spot each time for weigh in's now. Doc's appt next week, will compare to doctors scales to find the true weight then.

I need to drink my water today, I haven't had as much water the last two days as I normally drink. I notice I'm also a little extra moody when I am losing, like my body is working so hard emotionally it takes a toll. It might not be what is actually happening but I do notice I am extra emotional while pounds are dropping.

I know it has artificial sweeteners and that's not great, but so does my Diet Dr. Pepper and I kept reaching for it over water. Now I am drinking more water. I have no problem drinking water in the summer, but in the winter, it's so difficult for me. I took the suggestion to keep it at room temperature, but still, I wasn't drinking it like I know I should. Now I am. However you do it, drink up! :cheers:

Mainecyn, my daughter watches carbs and calories together and it works very well for her. She doesn't journal but she does have the myfitnesspal app on her phone and she plugs in all the food she eats so she can keep track. I say do whatever works best for you! :yes:

I feel that I had a very good week this week. I was hoping to lose a bit more but I am pretty sure I have gained some muscle this week. I finished Week 1(6 days) of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. It was hard but fun at the same time. I hope that next week is a good number too. Today was my 11th wedding anniversary so my hubby and I will celebrate Sunday with dinner and a movie probably. Tomorrow is cheat/rest day AND I am going to see P!nk! I will behave and eat better but I will add some water weight I am sure;)

it's really cold over here, and my bottom jaw turned yellow yesterday :( I fought it with a lot of make-up and a scarf. Nobody would have noticed if I wasn't that much of an over-sharer ;)

Not stepping on the scale this morning because had a great deal of sodium last night and don't want plain ole water weight give me fake results that will go down after drinking a couple glasses of water.

I still didn't binge last bite. I did use my exercise ball this morning for awhile doing stretches for my back and hips. Having surgery on the 13th and the stretches help releve some of the pain from the bulging discs in back. Ive also found if I lay across it on my back and roll I can feel it helping tighten my legs and saggy butt using those muscles. Lol.

I've eaten, took a long time to find anything even closely acceptable. I was beginning to snack, had been doing it this afternoon. I thought it would be best to eat something, however my stomach isn't that happy. I've noticed lately that my stomach gets upset pretty easily right now. I also notice i really can't over eat at all because I'll be sick. What a change.

171 lbs. I haven't seen this number in a long time. I am trying to focus on the positive and tell myself I can keep going. Don't give up.

Started the week so strong then there was cake and ice cream. Thursday was up to 201ish, Friday 202ish. Think the only reason the scale was 201.0 this morning was I weighed in later than usual. Today was my son's family bday party and I was way off but NSV for me. I forced myself to go out at 10:20pm tonight so that my C25K got completed for the week. I was lazy this morning. Downside was that since I was lazy for the last 3 days I am only at 475/500 minutes of exercise. Goal was 2000 for the month. Now I will have to do more this week to make up for it.

Uh, yesterday was bad. I wasn't in my usual eating places for two out of three meals. I did ok for breakfast. But when dinner rolled around, there were zero healthy options and lots of bad snacks. I had taken a protein bar and ate it around 4. Didn't work, it was like my hand was attached to the gummy bear bag. It ends up I ate in my maintenance calorie range ~1850, and it just feels like a lost day for losing and I REALLY want to fit into some nice stuff for Christmas. I'm starting to seriously not like the number 5!!! OK, my fit is over :dizzy:

Add me to the didn't do well yesterday list! lol My husband's favorite dessert is blackberry pie and we NEVER see it anywhere, well I saw blackberry cobbler at the store yesterday so I grabbed it and a small container of vanilla ice cream. My initial resolve to not eat any disappeared the moment it came out of the oven :o lol Then to make it worse my husband brought home dinner from whataburger and I gave in to that too :( oh well I'm gonna go light today, I have a ton of fresh fruit and veggies I can snack on during the day and I will have a light dinner.

The scale was nice to me this morning even though I blew it yesterday. I expect it will be up tomorrow from water retention though. . . I realized this morning that if I want to challenge myself to lose 7.5 lbs (my new scale apparently goes in .1 increments yay!) I need to adjust for the scale differences to set the goal so new g/w again lol

Uh-oh, I don't even know what to think about this. I am down a lb after cheat day. My sinuses are acting up badly, I am very congested, and I had such an excruciating headache yesterday that I didn't eat as much as I normally would. I did have some cheat foods though, but still, cheat day is supposed to be an overindulgence. It's meant to shake up my metabolism, so I hope this doesn't throw me off for the week. It really just kind of has me baffled, lol! I'm always up after cheat day! That's how it works! Hmmm. :dunno: I guess I should just roll with it and say, Yay! :cp:

Still 64.4kgs and my scales keep threatening me with 63.9 :D Oh and I gave my swiss ball a go two days ago... I can still hardly move without my abs and shoulders hurting! It was worth it though and I still managed to get a run in yesterday. I'm going to get back on the swiss ball today to work out my aches and pains so I'll feel better tomorrow (and be able to laugh without crying in pain hahaha)

So yesterday I made some sushi for lunch and used cauliflower rice instead of real rice, shrimp, carrot, cucumber, avocado, and cream cheese. I make 3 rolls, which ended up being about 24 pieces. Well, it took so much work to put it all together that I didn't eat it until an hour later. I was beyond stuffed half way through the second roll, but I pushed on through. I was still full at 8pm. So I at 10pm I had an Oikos greek yogurt and 1 cup of frozen raspberries, to try and avoid possible 3am hunger.

I'm not sure if my body was just ready to release more pounds, or if it was the calorie shortage, but I hit the scale this morning and could not believe my eyes when I saw 157.4. This is so motivating for me b/c I haven't seen this number in atleast 5-7 years. I'm hoping my 8oz almond butter, coconut manna, chocolate shake doesn't put me in reverse for tomorrow. But we'll see how it goes.

I hope the rest of you ladies are doing well with your journies towards goal.

I cleaned out my closet (again) and have very little I can wear now. The first time I cleaned out my closet it was bye-bye 18/20's..now it's bye-bye 16's! Even some XL tops too big. WOW! I'm going shopping today for size L tops and 14 jeans. :D

Sue I know that you try to drink alot of water, we learned about Osmotic thirst in Neuroscience- when you have too much salt in your blood stream your body signals thirst and water retention to bring your body back to the proper balance. Well the reverse is true, when you have enough water to imbalance your levels your body will make you crave salt. To me it sounds like you may swinging between the two extremes.

Happy Veteran's Day, everyone! My father, who is 92, was in the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years, and fought in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He still lives down South, where I grew up, and I talk to him every week, but it's always kind of special on Veteran's Day. He's an amazing man! :drill:

Hi everybody! Hope everyone's Monday went well.

Funny (more like awkward) thing happened today. So, I was having a conversation with a co-worker and we were talking about calorie counting. She always makes fun of how she like the anti-me (no exercise, junkfood always, etc). To be honest, she's about 5'10 and 145 lbs. So as I started to tell her that I'd joined 3FC, and I'm really monitoring my calories, my other co-worker says, "you count calories?" The way she said it was like I'd said I was starving myself. I didn't even bother to go further into the conversation about how healthier choices have a lot fewer calories than junk and fast food. It just reminds me how the scales are completely flipped. At any rate, I'm sure it won't be the last time that happens.

Pnkrckpixikat - I've been repeating the same thing to myself today. "Just be prepared. It's not the end of the week". Congrats on your downward trend.

Back from a long weekend of family fun. Only up 1 pound, which will probably come off in the next day or two as I am sure it is from the couple of beers and not the food. I was really in control for most of the weekend...but I did splurge on a piece of pecan pie. YUMMY!!!

I miss so much when i don't weigh on the weekend! I had an extra day off yesterday because of remembrance day and i was glad to get to go to our provincial ceremony.

Friday night, Saturday and Sunday were all off plan in some way or another. I got back on track yesterday and will see how long it takes me to catch back up!!

I had a dr appointment today. There scale says I weigh 8 pounds more than the scale I use at home. It does show that I am 4 pounds lighter than I was when I saw the dr two weeks ago..but that number is disheartening. I was fully dressed with work boots on as well but I don't think that really could account for the 8 pound difference with their scale..kindda bummed on that. Still it did register a four lbs loss.:(

I woke up really happy today :) not even sure why, I was just in a good mood. I went to an info night for Uni exchange student opportunities last night; so all the possibilities get me all excited. I've been abroad for a year twice before (high school in the US and community service in South Africa after high school graduation), so I really want to go again next year. So many options!!
Also, I lost some weight, that's cool too.

wannaskipandlaugh yay for the drop! Well done. Try to compensate for salty foods with a lot of water :)

Turtle11 you'll push through this! no worries.

boatingmommy that pound will be gone soon. Hope you had a good time with your family. Also, Pecan pie sound SO GOOD. We can't buy American Style pies in Germany, and when I try myself it turns out to be lousy. But pie is so delicious.

Hi. New to the site but it looks like just what I'm looking for. This group especially seems right up my alley so I hope it's cool to hop in mid month.

I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right (the posting part) but I guess we will see. A little back story: This is my third go around with massive weight loss so not giving in to despair and "what's the point?" is my biggest struggle now. The first time I lost substantial weight (115 lbs in 9 months 2005) I was young, single and I made losing weight my job. Weighed and measured EVERYTHING. Worked out for 3 hours a day and with a PT 4 days a week. Got thin. Met a horrible guy. Wasted 2 years of my life and picked up a nasty case of bulimia trying to keep the weight off while binging for comfort. Finally broke it off with nothing but 75 lbs of regained weight to show for it. Moved to Japan in 2008 for work and again made losing the weight priority #1. No friends, no fun, no living until the weight was off. Lost 77 lbs in 6 months that time. Still dabbled with the bulimia but for the most part I lost the weight legit. Felt awesome. Moved to South Korea, met my now husband. Married in January 2011 and our "surprise" baby was born in September (you do the math :o ) When I found out I was pregnant I swore that I would never again use purging as a form of weight control. I have kept that promise but at a pretty high price. Very long story from that point, but suffice to say, it is November 13, 2013 and I am back up to 275 lbs. My God how it just sneaks right up on you.
So here I am, realizing that feeling sorry for myself and wallowing in the "if only's" and the "coulda woulda shoulda" isn't going to help me but also trying to get real with the fact that I won't be able to just put my life on hold like I have in the past and give every moment to weight loss. With all my experience at this I'm not sure if I know how to do it this way. I'm hoping accountability and support (giving it and receiving it) will help me make a start.

Sorry for the blathering but I just had to get it out there so I can move forward. I hope no one minds too much. So here are my stats.

Thank for the support. You know this has happened to me in the past years ago, a scale at work, the Dr scale, and my own scale all read differently. One of the nurses at the Dr office said something close to what your saying. She told me that she sticks to what one scale says, that there are changes almost hourly in what you weigh, there are your clothes etc. It was just startling because I was honestly hoping to see an even lower number than what mine said.

Hi AmberJune! :welcome: Of course, you can join! So glad to have you! I am so happy to hear that you have given up purging as a means to lose weight. You are so smart not to want that legacy passed on to your child! You are going to be just fine losing weight the old-fashioned way! It just takes determination and patience. I'd say probably most people on the site count calories. Some do packaged meal programs. Some do the Beck Diet. Some do Atkins. Some do Weight Watchers, and so on. I do a modified Slow Carb Diet. Some people exercise a lot, some just a little. Everyone is different and they have to figure out what works best for them so that they'll stick to it long term. Whichever weight loss plan you choose, just remember: determination and patience. You can do this! And a year from now, you are going to be so happy you did! :carrot:

mainecyn 8 pounds is a fair difference, but it is possible that it was your clothes and boots. Plus if you had eaten and drank anything it would weigh you down as well. Work boots themselves can be heavy things what I would suggest is weight them to see if they maybe added a few pounds to that scale reading. No matter what though, it isn't the number on the scale that matters as much as the fact you are losing, even IF your scale is off by 8 lbs, that doesn't mean you haven't lost the same amount of pounds you have lost using it to track. It just means that you started a small amount higher than you thought. not the funnest of ideas, but it doesn't take away the hard work you have put it so far!

Hope all is well with you lovely ladies. Checking in for the day at 158.6. Yesterday was the same as well. I'm not sure why I'm sliding backwards. I've been on plan, so maybe its extra water I'm holding on to. Its also possible that I've been consuming too much dairy. I've been having a slice or two a day for the last few days. At any rate, I will kick up my water intake for the nexts few days to see what happens.

On the exercise front, my sister and I decided to switch it up last nighand went to zumba class. We also took her 3 girls; 13, 11, 5 years old. By the end of the class, the 5 year old was the only one of us with the same energy and enthusiasm that she had at the start of class. Lol. I, on the other hand had a terrible headache and thought I would pass out. Pretty safe to say that zumba's out for me. Back to the gym.

The good news is that I weighed in today and I lost 1 pound! The bad news is that the month is half over and I'm only down 2.5. The 210's are starting to look like they're going to be around for a while. I'm going to focus on the good news :)

I'm grateful I'm heading back in the right direction but bummed out that I'm only where I started at the beginning of November. Total weight loss so far: zero! So, as we head into another weekend, I'm hoping ill be 137 on Monday. Everything crossed and stealing a but of your magic dust cincorn :-)

Not happy. Yesterday must have been an optical illusion, because when I stepped on the scale this morning, it again read 139. As you might imagine, I had a few choice words for my scale! :tantrum:

Good Morning everyone,

yeah, I don't really know what's wrong with my scale. I don't mind being up if I know where it's coming from, but a 3lbs gain overnight without cause really makes me :(. Well, let's hope it'll be gone just as quick :)
I have my stitches from the wisdom teeth pulled this afternoon, and I'll be cleared for exercise :) So I'll go for a run later :carrot: It is really cold over here, but I am excited :D

LfChanges I'm sure it's just water! You'll be down soon. And exercising with the family sounds like so much fun!! Even though my sister is crazy skinny, she hates exercise, so that'll never happen for me ;)

Do you weigh the same time everyday? I am in a routine currently where I weigh at a certain time a day, and always the second I get outta the shower. It still is a horrible feeling to go from excitement over losing, to heartbreak not to see the same number the next day. How was your salt intake?
