Ok, I've read the book and consulted the site and I'm still confused - I know I should aim to be in ketosis while I'm on induction. I know it may take a few days. After induction, when I start OWL and slowly add carbs back in, am I still aiming to be in ketosis? Do I keep adding carbs as long as I stay in ketosis?

The goal and why people are so dependanet on them are the fact that they tell if you are buring fat for energy or not. many people are very sensitive to how many carbs they can add so they use that as their gage to see if fat loss is in the future so to speak.
so for as long as you want to still lose then you should aim to keep in the purple so to speak. but how dark is going to be dependent on fluid you drink.
