This is a really cool thread! I like the focus on persistence. Let's see, here is a list of the things that I'm persistent with:

1. Food prep - Every weekend, the husband and I prep salads, sandwiches, wraps, soups, and fruits/veggies for the week. I prefer not to think when I choose my meals during the week, and this has worked well for us for the past year and a half.
2. Getting back on the wagon - I have yet to find a sustainable workout routine, but I'm still working on it and not giving up! And that is the most persistent I've been - getting back to a routine at least once a month. it's not perfect, but it's better than where I was 3 years ago.

We are persistent. The really good things about all the turtles is that we do make progress in our own way in our own time. I hear you about exercise.
The other turtles are doing quite well with that right now and I'm still
avoiding it by not working it into my routine. I'll work on that this week. Glad to have you chiming in and congrats on your weight loss so far!

Oh, I had a nice WI yesterday and am officially under 200# in my WI clothes. Had a group here last night and I had a piece of fruit instead of sweets. Had lunch out (it was a very fun day) and avoided bread. First time I've done that in ages. I'm trying something very different and hoping to shake up my weight. More protein, much less bread and grains. I'll let you know how I do.

Princess/Cherry/Life/LadyBug - hope you are all having a great week.

This week has been tough with the menu. Been out for 2 dinners this week.
BUt I did go bowling Monday & got in a walk at lunch on Tues (45 min) &
did "ghost walk" last night which was approx. 2 miles.
As you know when I am OP I do great but once I get sidetracked & get into the fast food, it usually goes on for more than the 1 meal.
This is one of my biggest challenges. If I only had the 1 fast food meal, wouldn't be so bad, but when you keep going it adds up fast.
Anyway, weigh in tonight & back on track for next week.

All - getting cold up here. Brrrrrrrrrr!

Hi Turtles,
Had a great Halloween party Sat. night. All the costumes were funny or terrific and we had fun. I went as a voodoo doll. To say I am "stretching "
to find a new idea for a costume is putting it mildly. All in all really good.
People stayed late which means they were having a good time. I had the food brought in. It saves a lot of work and we've got a good place that is reasonable and delicious. So funny how peoples eating habits are changing.
In the past I've had a huge salad and at the end of the evening it looked as though no one touched it. This time around it was almost all gone. People are catching on that filling your plate 1/2way with a delicious salad and then taking bites of the other things does work. We also had ds and his family overnight from Fri.-Sunday to stay with us. Good visit. i love those.

Food is good. I am concentrating one day at a time. I am doing my best to avoid most carbs except veggies and two pieces of fruit a day. The weird thing is I am less hungry and that is so puzzling to me. I lost weight very well doing this when I was 35 and although I've been fighting the idea, I was ready to do it again. I'll let you know how I do. More lean protein, no bread, it's working today.

Hey, best to all of you. Yep, we do persevere even though it's not easy. I guess my point of view is where would I be if I didn't. Lots of luck and enjoy the day!

Judy - glad your party was a success & great you are doing well with your food plan.
I also feel that cutting the heavy carbs really helps.
I am back on plan & really trying to stay focussed since we are heading into
holiday season & lots of social events coming up.

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday! The scale is going up and I am totally dumbfounded... the only thing I can think of is the menopause medicine that I have been taking which seems to make me gain weight... ugh

Had my WW WI this morning and was up .8#. Not fun since I had hoped to lose a pound this week. I guess it's not bad since we had the party and 6 guests here overnight for the weekend. Hopefully the scale will turn around tomorrow morning.

this year's calendar is tricky with thanksgiving late and Christmas early.
I'm trying to work ahead but the crazy thing is I haven't even finished up our Halloween things yet. Had a houseful of company for the weekend of the Halloween party and that amounted to quite a bit of work afterward. it was enjoyable, and that's what counts.

Yes, this can be crazy with the seasons changing. I still have Halloween decorations to put away this weekend & there is bowl of goodies lingering as well, but my dd loves chocolate so it won't last long.
Rainy day up here - good day to be at the office.

Keeping on track, journalling and try to behave. Made a beef stew, so all set for dinner tonight & will hit the spot with it being so dreary out.

All - drink some extra water today!

Oh Bandit, beef stew sounds delicious. I have to get out and restock my groceries. I'll be okay for tonight, but I'm out of good stuff.

I am so happy and relieved. As you know I worked hard for the last two weeks on a new program. More lean protein, fewer carbs other than veggies and fruit. I lost 2.6# this week. I finally broke through a number (198#) that I've been yo-yoing for much too long. Now I have 3.4# to lose to get back to the weight I was 9/2012. I know this doesn't sound very good, but I could have put back all my weight. I stopped the gain, I maintained and finally I broke through again. Now I need to do this one day at a time. Today I choose to eat this way and to be happy.

Hello everyone and happy Thursday to you! Cold weather has arrived here in the midwest and we have survived the first holiday of the season... I had two pieces, yes just two pieces of halloween candy this year... every time I looked at the leftover candy in the bowl I just think... "it is simply not worth it" and grab a piece of fruit if I am truly hungry and if not I move along and continue forward.

Seriously... if we all think about the lowest weight we have been at or the best shape we have been in and then how many times we blow it and gain it all back we really just need to ask ourselves... "is it worth the effort that it is going to take to get the weight back off? because if I eat this I know it will cause a gain or at the very least I will not lose..." I for one and just tired of the Yo Yo, and I think Judy mentioned in one of her posts that she is also. So that is what I am doing now and it seems to be working as I had a 2.4 loss last Saturday as WW. I also stopped the med's, I will tough it out as long as I can without them.

I sure hope everyone is doing well and staying safe! I don't know about your areas but here in Indy we have been having a ton of home invasions lately, really aweful stuff... it is a sign of the economy they say... The sad part is that here it is all older teenages and young adults that say that they are tired of being poor or doing without and want what the better off people have - but they don't want to work for that it appears... how lazy of nation we have become when it is easier to rob and in many cases hurt your fellow citizens rather then get a job or go to school so that you can earn a decent living. Ok well enough of that but keep your doors locked and be safe ladies!

I have not tried any new recipes lately but need to get my ww cook books out and start looking for new things with the change in weather and the upcoming holidays, I think that if we have a new lunch or supper choice once or twice a week it helps us from getting bored.

:goodscale: Yes, I agree it is better to pass up this food now than to have to lose the same pounds over again. As of today you and I weigh the exact same amt.! We can all do this. Being in onederland is a wonderful thing.

I'm trying fewer carbs and more lean protein and it seems to be working.

Princess, I don't think I mentioned it here on this site. I think I just said that I had many sad things happen over the summer. One of them is that our house was robbed. The thieves haven't been caught. They got most of my jewelry and it was annoying and sad. That jewelry was gifts thru the years from my dh and although I remember the occasions, it is still a loss.
the police were surprised since there hasn't been a robbery in this neighborhood in who knows when and we are considered very safe here.
Terrible experience and I hope all the turtles stay safe too. We had inadvertently left our back porch window unlocked and that's how they entered. Ugh. Well, now we have a security system that we use all the time. Still a nasty experience.

Other things happened and I struggled with my weight all of last year. We were hit pretty hard by Sandy Superstorm (although nothing like the people along the shore). Now we are hoping this year brings happiness and nothing newsworthy!

Emotional eating can be tough, but I know the Turtles can do this. I am pleased with the way my eating and scale are cooperating and I send :goodvibes: to all of you!

Hello Everyone and Happy Friday to you! Super cold here but the skies are sunny which is nice.

DH and I are coming down with a cold that we caught from the grandbaby I think... :^::p but it is not the worst thing that could happen that is for sure. I will make it thru the work day and try and relax this weekend.

Judy: Geesh! you have had a nasty year indeed! I am so sorry to hear about your break in and loss of your treasures, that is just so frustrating that people do that... I don't get it. I hope that things improve and become more positive with the holidays coming, etc.

Bandit: How are you doing? Did you get your trailer and house ready for the winter?

Hi turtles - like reading all the posts. Judy/Princess - congrats on your
weight losses, super! Glad modifying your food plans has been a big help,
good for you.

Trailer all closed up for the season, so less running around for me til the spring so should have extra time to get back with some regular exercise,
which I think has been my biggest obstacle to losing some weight (along with too much over eating & making bad choices with food) but even so I thinking
exercise regularly is a key for me to succeed.

Been raining up here with some sunny breaks now & then, but for sure cold weather is coming fast.

I also have a cold which just makes everything seem more difficult than need be so today will be doing abit of shopping & tidying up then relaxing on the couch later.

All - keep up the good work & lets all have a successful week!

Good Morning everyone and Happy Monday... ugh, I am getting sicker with this cold by the day but I am sure at some point it will hit its peak and then I will start to get better... that sure is not today though! I had to drive into the office today also to have my work laptop upgraded and clean out my cube as my paperwork to work at home full time finally came thru... yah!

I am eager to get the tech here and get my machine upgraded and then pack up and head for home.

So i stopped taking the menopause meds and lost another 2.6 on Saturday at weigh in and that makes me feel better and helps me to keep at it I think.

Bandit: I agree, if I don't exercise I don't lose... period, no way around it! Hope you can find time to fit a few days a week into your schedule for a walk or a class, I think that not only does it help with the weight but it makes us feel better too. I hate to ask but could you post the stew recipe again? I looked back but could not find it and that would be a great meal to fix.

Judy: Two colds back to back is no fun at all! Maybe add some more vitamin C into your day, I take a ton of it this time a year but then I seem to catch everything that comes along so I am paranoid I guess.

Hi Princess - the stew I make is pretty basic.
Chop celery, onions, carrots, potatoes, turnip & cover with water &
boil along with a "beef stew seasoning" pack plus I add some stewing beef which I brown before adding to veggies. Add some salt & pepper and simmer until veggies are soft. Tastes better longer is sits, enjoy!

Well I had my official WI at WW's today and I was down 0.2# . I know anyone else might yell and scream, etc. but I am actually happy since we went to a very fun restaurant over the weekend for my dh's :hb: and the calories were flying! I am thrilled I didn't gain weight, so this tiny loss is welcome to me.

Hello Everyone and happy Thursday to you all! Very cold here but the sun is out... I have a ton of leaves out of the yard that need to be raked and bagged but I am still sick and to be honest just getting through the work day is about all I can handle right now, maybe tomorrow.

I tried the new Fiber One Trail Mix bars, they are 3 pts a piece and pretty filling and yummy.

So at work we have this thing called "Know your Numbers" - BMI, BP, Smoker or NonSmoker, etc. And there are three areas that you can earn money back into your paycheck to help pay for your health care costs and with the new Health Care that is in effect and the costs that are skyrocketing it is so important to make every penny count and my employer allows your spouse to do it also. Well the DH is a nonsmoker but that is about all the credit he is going to earn ;). I earned two of the three credits and the one that I did not earn was the BMI credit... I was 1.6 points over the highest allowable number to qualify. But they offer this program that you can go thru to still get the credit and help you to correct what is wrong so I am doing that. I will take all the help I can get but to be honest at first I was very embarrased to have missed the whole BMI thing and was really mad at myself but you know there are others that missed it too that are on my team and I will use it as a goal for next year... I don't want to have to do it again so I will aim to be well below the acceptable BMI maximum allowable... lemonaide out of lemons :)

Bandit: Thanks for the recipe! I think this weekend will be perfect to try it out as it is supposed to be rainy and cold.

Judy: Congrats on your weight loss.... I am thrilled for you and .2 can equal a boat load under certain circumstances!

It's been quite awhile since I checked in on a WW thread. But having 3 grandbabies in the last couple of years has kept me hopping. One more on the way in a few weeks.

Happy to say I'm still maintaining my loss, and working out on a regular basis.

Still going to meetings every week too.

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Friday! Super cold and frosty here this morning and no shopping it going to happen for me today! We are cutting back big time on purchases this year and have drawn a name instead of buying presents for everyone which is a bit better.

Thanksgiving went well yesterday, ate a bit too much but to be honest it could have been lot worse! I am going to try and do an official weigh in tomorrow at WW so will see how it goes.

Seems everyone has been very busy with the holidays approaching.
Sunny today which is nice but is getting cold up here. I have snow in my yard but the roads are still good.
Lots of parties happening, last Friday had my first Christmas dinner, then brunch on Saturday which was very nice.
So hard keeping on track but trying to plan ahead and when going to
get togethers my plan is going to be to limit appetizers & desserts &
have reasonable portions of the mains.

Hello everyone! Things got crazy busy here and I had a slight gain over thanksgiving but managed to get that off... I am still cycling like crazy and actually did over 30K in a 90 minute cycle class Thanksgiving morning... I was suprised that I had a gain at all but I did...

Really busy here, but glad to check in and see how we're doing.
Best of everything to us all. Every bite counts. I find since we are doing so many social things it's hard to get the weight off. I do fine, go to an event, do the best I can, gain a bit, get that bit off........and stay the same. I am grateful to stay the same, but I'd love to lose some!

I got the info on the new Simple Start program tonight at meeting.

It's basically a simpler way to do the Simple Filling and not have to count points as much.

I'm gonna try it. I'm still going to count, but it looks so easy! Besides I'm ready for a change of pace.

Oh this month is crazy busy & looks like everyone else is busy too. I'm hosting my Christmas Holiday Party this weekend, been busy getting ready for the crowds of friends & chaos that I am sure will start the night before. I haven't lost anymore this week, but I am a vegetarian and I have always had dairy in my diet. This month I have already cut out cheese & have cut back on everything else dairy. After this weekend I am eliminating dairy completely. Even though I haven't lost any this past week, I seem to have actually have gone down in inches & don't seem like I am puffy. So I am really hoping that once I have eliminated all dairy that I show a good loss. Best part is I feel really good.

As for me, last week I didn't WI because we had eaten out at least 5 times or at parties------I knew I'd have a gain but it would be temporary since I ate well at all those places. Today I was so happy because I was down 1.2#
and am the closest to my starting week Sept. 2012. Two more pounds to go and I'll be at my starting point. Doesn't that sound weird? Well, it's been a **** of a year and bad news keeps pouring in, so I am happy that I lost weight.

Hi turtles - hope you all enjoyed your Christmas with family & friends.

Well up here I have had quite the adventure - no power for 43 hours.
Power came back on late Mon evening just in time to get ready for
Christmas eve, so I was very thankful for that. Power went out Sat evening overnight so I was alone Sunday, not so bad at first but got boring later.
Kept thinking power would come on anytime. But looking outside everything was covered with ice & trees & hydro lines down all over. Listened to car radio and heard extent of damage. I drove around and found pizza place opened so pickup up a pizza to have something on hand. Still had hot water until Mon afternnon so that was nice to still be able to shower.
I found the worst part was not being able to watch TV or make coffee.
Temperature in house slowly dropped but I was bundled up so that was OK.
Also since everything was covered in ice was very slippery & salt was sold out everywhere, I had 1 bag left which I am keeping for the stairs & I put
a bunch of kittly litter in driveway to help from slipping.

I am thankful power came back on before Christmas. There are still people
here without power and some won't be restored until weekend.
Thank goodness this doesn't happen often - we are usually OK where I live.

Our Christmas was fine, but I will be happy to ring in 2014.

Hey. How is everyone? I am doing well. Still on meds for my BP and a diet aide but other than that I am fine.

My weight is finally coming down again. I need to eat a lot less than I was eating to lose weight, but it's good to know that if I try really hard I can knock off pounds.

Good Morning Everyone and Very Happy New Years Wishes to you ALL!

We had a very quiet night here with a quick supper out and then home to tuck in for the night. No big parties for us!

I have not been on here for so long and am very sorry about that! I do get to see what is happening for some via FaceBook but for others i need to catch up!

Bandit: So happy you are warm and safe again, Geesh! No power this time of year is scary for those in the north! Have a great new year Bandit my friend!

Judy: So happy you seem to be back on track! It really makes a difference when we find something that helps and we get moving forward again! I hope that 2014 is a wonderful year for you as well my friend!

Life: it looks like you are doing well and the meds seem to be helping, that is a wonderful thing and I hope that your health continues to improve! Very happy 2014 wishes to you!

Princess, so glad to hear from you. wishing you and yours a very good 2014!

My weight is up a bit, about 2#, but that isn't bad considering I used to do much worse. Tomorrow I'll be a bit tighter. I am finding that avoiding bread does help me shake up my weight and do better.
Wishing everyone success in this year with their weight and everything else.

Happy New Year to all my turtle friends!

Enjoyed the holiday, now time to get back on track.
Tops tonight and have to face the scale so soon after holidays but
that is OK and start again with new goals for this year.

For now my goal will be to lose at least 2#/month and walk regularly.
Doesn't sound like much but don't forget over a year that would be 24# lost
and I would be happy with that.

All - hope you all have a great upcoming year!

Bandit, that's the spirit! I have to wait until next Wed. and hope to knock off some pounds between now and then. I was doing great and after the holidays I overindulged. Not smart!
So today I had a good lunch. Have a decent supper planned and all will be better.
Snow storm circling in. Hopefully we won't lose power.

Hello Everyone and Happy 2014!

Brutally cold here today... -13 degrees and -40 with the wind chill on top of 1.5 feet of snow... I hate to whine but I am ready for spring!:^:

My weight is up this week but I am not sure how much. I will be back to TOPS this week and also to WW on Saturday but have had cancelations, etc due to bad weather and other commitments. My scale at home tells me what I need to know though and I need to get my nose to the grind-stone again!

I know that we are not the only ones dealing with cold and snow so please be safe everyone and take care!

Cold here, but nothing like what Princess is going through. Princess good luck with being back to TOPS and WW. This is the time of year where we can all do well. Good luck!!!

We were worried about black ice this morning since our rain and warming weather melted the foot of snow we had last week. However, the roads seem clear. i'll get out with my youngest daughter to buy paint for her living room. Her house needs a bit of fixing up, so she's starting with painting her living room.

Food was really good yesterday, so that is encouraging for me to continue.
I have some chicken cacciatore in the fridge for dinner that will just need some heating up. Right now cottage cheese and berries sounds good for lunch. I must be crazy! LOL.

Sending :goodvibes: and :bravo: for all of us. We can do this ! Onward and downward.

My WI is tomorrow. Since I WI on Wednesdays and the center was closed both for Christmas and New Year's Day this will be my first WI in three weeks. Hoping for the best!

Judy - hope your weigh-in goes well this week, most of my Tops group
was up last week which is to be somewhat expected over the holidays.

Princess - your weather sounds like ours. Today is crazy cold and cannot even get ice broken down on sidewalks, so very slippery everywhere.
Tried again last night to find salt - sold out everywhere & was told the shipments sell out every a.m. within an hour. Ended up putting cat litter
on walkways which helps abit.
And it is only January so we have lots of winter ahead of us.

On a happier note, the sun is shining and have been pretty good with staying on track, so feeling better about that.

Hello everyone and happy Tuesday to you all! Still crazy cold here but at least the wind had died down and the forcaster says we will be a bit warmer each day... I have not been to the gym since Sunday morning and it shows with my stiff joints! I am start to have a flare up with the bulged disc in my neck again which is super concerning because it leads to down time and a gain. I need to figure that would quickly...

Bandit: We have had that same issue down here from time to time. I have used my table salt in a pinch LOL... last year we got a large bucket of rock salt at Sams Club so have plenty now but don't really need it yet since it is just huge piles of snow and not a ton of ice yet. Be safe!

Judy: Best wishes and good luck at your weigh in and enjoy your time with your daugther, it sounds like you will have a good time fixing her place up a bit. Stay safe with all this bad weather moving around the country!
