Atkins - Give Thanks for weight loss by Thanksgiving!

We have a few weeks from now til Thanksgiving, when the holiday season starts and the home cooked meals overwhelm us. So its time to lose weight before this happens and also so that we fit into our Party Clothes!:dizzy: LOL :D

Lets make these next 6 1/2 weeks count with a loss and a lower number on the scale and our bodies and minds in a healthy place! :hug:

treadmill here I come.....

I tried the veggie hot and spicy sausage.....stay away from it! The flavor is almost there but the texture is just not right. The black bean burger I can do but I think that is it. Any quick breakfast ideas? I think I"m going to bore of scrambled eggs very soon.

Can't weigh today...but walked yesterday and plan the same for today!! (Can weigh on Friday) Having a flare in my joints....not sure why....but I am resistant to the idea of adding more prednisone...c'est la vie!!

Thankful to be gainfully employed!! (Have to keep saying this because I am in one of those ruts where I am less than happy with how things work!!)

Today I am thankful for my boyfriend deciding that we should split laundry duties last night. We both work about 30 minutes from home/the laundromat, and I get there before him. All I had to do was put the laundry in the wash, and he came right at dryer time, and took over, so I had time to go to the market and make dinner before 8:15 pm. Normally, I would just do all the laundry myself and then come home and make dinner. It was much less stressful for both of us!

What have I done!!! Yahoo - I'm 181!!!! Absolutely LOVE updating my ticker!!! Every pound seems like the hardest pound but this last one held on forever!!! (Came home early because I thought something was cooking with my eye but is morning it seems ok - good thing is that I got to weigh!!)

Staja - it's nice when things work out like that!!! Hope you had a nice meal together!!

Thankful for all the yard work that's been done while I was on the road!!

I am so thankful for a surprise when I came home... My mother had stopped by and dropped off a double walled Halloween glass that lights up LOL gave me a great chuckle! :)

Today I am thankful for my two kitties. They are always there to be small, warm, furry heating pads. My tiny kitty pulled out all of her toys last night and spent 45 minutes playing with each one in turn. Better than any TV I could have possibly watched!

bed diet day....had MRI to assist in distinguishing distortion and mass in mammogram films. NOT a fun experience and do not recommend it unless heavily medicated!

Hello from New Orleans!!! iPad hit the ground on Thursday so I haven't posted in a few days!! I was 180 yesterday on my mom's scale...have to wait until Friday to weigh but might retain fluid from flying...so we will see. Walking and eating on plan!!!

Been viewing the 4 part documentary - "Weight of the Nation" sooooo interesting - there is a true scientific reason why maintenance is so hard!! Kudos to JerseyGyrl for her long term success!!!

Thankful for my sister who had been a part of my life for 45 years and would have been 54 today.

Scale didn't stick so I have no real news to report.....Walked so much in New Orleans that I have a beautiful blister on the side of my left big toe....ouch!!I am happy to report I ate NO pecan pie in the Big Easy!!It has to be my #1 dessert weakness!! So where did I go off plan ....beer, Strawberry daiquiri (open container walking allowed in N.O!!!) and a drink called a Hurricane...our team "Ghost Walk" was more of a pub crawl!!!) I definitely enjoyed the journey this week but back on track now!!!

Gonna go shopping with baby girl this weekend to see if I can get into real 14s this week.....this will be an experiment...but it will give me a real life goal besides the scale!!!

Lulu!.. oh but you had fun and that is really what life is about :D.... and shopping for 14's! HOORAY!... I tried on my pants (3X) and they fell off.. OH so happy... going to dig into my closets and find some 2X's and see (I have all pants 14 and up lol and 35 years and younger LOLOLOL

I am thankful for cooler weather!... So Thankful!.. I got to turn off the airconditioner and open my doors and windows to Fresh Air!!!! :D

Making Fauxtato Salad again today!! I love this stuff and it is so good for me. Also working on less protein consumption and more veggies!!

My "totally fit" neighbor was driving by me yesterday as I walked in the 32 degree morning and she stopped to complimented me on walking in the cold and how great I looked!! It felt GREAT!!

Went to an engagement party and ate on plan - which was totally awesome!!

My husband thinks I will have trouble this winter with the cold because I have lost weight - I think so too!! Anyone else feel the cold more with weight loss?

True Confession: Old Navy Size 14 jeans fit!!! Yahoo!! but I didn't get any because the "rise" is too low for this old goat!! I had a NSV this weekend. I was able to put on my boots and zip them up without having to squeeze my calf in. :)

But I was ravenous this weekend and did not pratice self control.

So I have been re-evaluating as always and decided to go back to induction - eating "clean" if you will.... to try to get the movement that I want - I read somewhere that after 10 months most people report they are still "dieting" (a four letter word for sure) but most have reverted to old habits....I do not want this to be me!! I want to make sure I am not having calorie/carb creep. From what I have read and calculated my daily calorie count will always be around 1200 calories due to my "efficient" metabolism - I just need less fuel than others!! and the best way to manage this is to follow Atkins!!

12 hour work day yesterday so no exercise - that really bothered me so carving out "me" time today to make sure it happens today!!

Waiting for the 170s is like waiting for the 210s, 200s, 190s, 180s - you get the picture.....I know I want to enjoy the journey but sometimes I just want to be there already!!! It takes as long as it takes....big sigh!! Thanks for allowing me this little pity party!!!

Oh Lulu... I still remember you working so hard for Onderland and it happened... It took a few weeks.. but it happened! :) I am so proud of you!

I am Thankful for getting my butt to my Astronomy Club meeting (It had been a year since I had gone Note: I have been on the board for 20 years and left that last year... So I needed to go) and I was overwhelmed with hello s and Hugs! and 2 guys asked me HOW MUCH WEIGHT have you lost???? I told them LOTS! lol and they just kept saying how good I looked... I felt Terrific all the way around.. So I thank my Guardian Spirits for convincing me to finally go.. It was what I needed :)

Wow, I can't believe snow already....here I am complaining it's in the mid 70s today!

I'm out this round, my mind is crazy! My MRI came back questionable so it's back to possible biopsy now. BLAH! Luckily only less than 20% of biopsies come back positive for cancer but those odds are still a little high for me. LOL My good friend just was diagnosed last week and is having major bi-lat plus in a few weeks. Needless to say it's been emotionally busy.....

Sue - Thanks sooooo much for the support!! You made me teary and VERY thankful!!! You are absolutely right - it took me from January to May 10th to get to onederland so there is no way I can lose it any faster!! I put my big girl pants back on today!!!

Physical today with my local Dr - 185 at the Dr's office with my clothes on - I'll take it - Blood pressure great!! Pulmonary function improved from last year!!! Dr very happy about weight loss and she concurs with the number of calories I'm eating ... well targeting to eat!! She was also ok with my realistic goal weight too!! and can see it taking 4 to 6 more months at least for it to come off - just trying to wrap my head around it and/or building the bridge to get over it and get over myself!!!

Lulu.... Want to impress your friends.. that bright spot in the west at sundown is VENUS :) You cannot see much with a telescope... just phases (it is like the moon as it is between the sun and us so we see 1/4, 1/2 full etc phases of Venus and Mercury :)

Great ideas these threads holiday time is always difficult for eating. I would love to post a very high goal but in the past ive been known to get to overwhelmed by even little numbers. Id love to drop 10, just to do it as it would take a huge chunk outta what I need to drop. However, I'm gonna go with 7 since Thanksgiving is really only 20+days away.

True Confession: I only post my lowest weight and not my ups and downs in between - it is silly I know but it helps my confidence and to focus on the next pound down!!

Crazy day. I worked til mid morning and then had to take my son to the dr. I didn't get a chance to eat a real breakfast. Instead, I am eating lunch, high protien. I have to take my same son to physical therapy tonight at 5. I am cooking part of dinner right now (my lunch break) so when I get back there will be no excuse for eating correctly. I'm excited to see some results. Its been a long time since I have been so positive regarding my eating and weight.

Nothing new to report today - Hoping to tell everyone I made it to 180 or 179 some time next week!!

Thankful I am 43 weeks into my journey!!!

Does anyone have any good recipes for a low carb Thanksgiving warm side dish? I don't want to make fauxtato salad because it is cold and think cauliflower might not win anyone over!! I am also making something sinful for my carb eaters.....the good thing is that it will all be left at my sister-in-law's house!!

I love Brussels sprouts, too, but my bf won't eat them, so I make them very rarely. He doesn't like any of my favorite veggies (artichokes, zucchini...he'll eat acorn squash, but complain about it)

Thank you Lulu. I haven't seen the 170's for quite some time. I used to just stall out in this area and gave up years ago of the idea every getting below them. I have buckled down and watching carbs and calories to get this pesky binge eating activity under control-I never purged, but I would eat thousands and thousands of calories in a sitting and do it all day any chance I got when I was alone. It had never been so bad in my entire life. Today, this day, I am THANKFUL that I seem to be in control for the first time in years. That I haven't fallen into that hole of eating and self hate.

Nothing new to report - 2 days no walking outside - I was on the road all day yesterday so today is a must to get outside - I am going to try to walk this morning and this afternoon. Baby girl will probably go with me this afternoon!!

My son is home from school for the weekend and my husband plans to cut wood with him - I absolutely hate/am slightly terrified of the chainsaw!! so being away from the house for a while is a good thing today!!

Baby girl had a physical yesterday and talked to her provider about portion control so I will be bringing her to a dietician - provider says I have to go too as I am the main "buyer" for the house!! I would be going anyway because I want to support her!! Worried because I think I will get negative feedback on Atkins - even though both of my docs are supportive!!.....(Very proud of my daughter for taking action - she wants this for herself!!)

Everything is mighty fine because today I am 179!!!!!! It's official I have made my Thanksgiving goal of 170 anything!!! Hoping I can see another pound or two before Thanksgiving!! (Ok 1 pound is the most realistic for this slow loser but I can dream can't I!!!!) This feels as good as Onederland!!!

Not using the elliptical today because my thighs are so sore I want to give my legs a rest...

Wishing everyone a downdowndown day!!!

PS. I just realized it took me about 6 months to go from 199 to 179 so I really shouldn't expect to lose any faster....a true exercise in patience!!!

Sue - First -Thank you so much for all of your support!!! Second - for both you and SUM -shake it off and keep going - I know it is hard sometimes to keep going!!!

Even if the "keep going" is maintaining the loss you have right now!! and then re-focusing later!! We can all get fatigued creating new habits!!

Sue when you go grocery shopping and walk down the baking aisle - look at the 5 pound bags of sugar - you have lost 14.6 bags!! What an awesome feat!!! that's a lot that you are not carrying around with you anymore!!! I don't even know how I would carry the 9 bags of sugar I have lost and it makes me thankful I don't have to anymore!!!

Mara - Fitting into your puffer jacket!!! That is AWESOME!!!

Can't weight this AM so nothing new to report today - had a great dinner with my mom last night!! and I planned for it so I feel really great about that!! My mom is watching the "Weight of the Nation" HBO episodes and is really enjoying them!! She is encouraged to try to lose weight.....I told that was my goal at the beginning too - but that now it is about getting fit and the transformation from fat to fit!! I told her I am the same person fat or not - I still laugh at the same jokes, like to watch cooking shows and I'll always be my own special "oddball"!! Now I'm just more fit!!

I have avoided the scale like plaque :( -- I will be back tomorrow because I am making myself step on that darn thing and face the music. -- I just can't get motivated, very sad. I know I have gained 5 pounds for sure, maybe more....I need to stop this upward trend before it is too late and I have huge regrets.

Today is my birthday; and I feel optimistic though. maybe it is a good day to recommit?

After more than 2 weeks on Induction i have lost a total of 5 lbs. It seems very very discouraging considering the rate I lost the first time around.

I remember dropping 12 pounds the first 2 and a half weeks, and then 3 more a half week later the first time. I have faced this before, but it is discouraging. While I am happy for losing the weight, should be grateful, it seems like so little.:(

I am upset and try not to dwell on it. But, its in the back of my mind. Be thankful for the lose right?

Mainecyn - What we expect and what our bodies do sometimes are two different things - I thought I'd drop 50 pounds by May like I did with Atkins the first time but that was not to be.....hold on - it gets better!!!

Sum - Very proud of you!! Recognizing and posting what is happening is very brave!!! Sometimes we have to re-trace a few steps in our journey before moving forward!! (I've been there a few times in my life!!)

Mara/Staja Couldn't agree more about your words for Sue!!

Wow!! Staja!!! Maintaining 60 down for 5 years!! That is super!!!

Nothing new to report today - It was nice so I was able to walk outside yesterday!! I'm thinking it is going to be a long winter working out in the basement!! I dream of the smaller me that is going to bust out in the spring!!!!

Everything is great because I am 178!!! It's official - I am back to my lowest adult weight - everything else will be new territory. The last time I visited 178 was around 2003-2004!!! I am 44 weeks in and 47 pounds down!! Not exactly happening at the speed of light but I can live with it!!

True confession: Had a talk with my husband last night about his comments on my changing body (smaller chest/skinny legs - I am an apple shape and my waist has not caught up quite yet!) - while he thinks he is being "funny", I explained that I see it as hurtful - he agreed and comments will stop - then he told me he is happy that I am getting more healthy and he wants to get there too! (This is uncharted ground for us because in 30 years he never said anything negative through all my body changes...I am relieved we talked.))

Sue So happy for you on 247!!! Keep up the great work!!!!!

Staja I'll always go with the positive frame of reference - gotta keep the glass half full!!

Happy Monday - Nothing new to report - on the road this week so I can't weigh again until Thursday morning!!

Did anyone watch Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition - Trina Miller yesterday? She went from 290 to 145 - I don't agree with the tactics like pushing a person to lose 75 pounds in 3 months but I understand some of the dynamics of the relationships - her mother is unusually cruel - couldn't imagine having someone that toxic living in my house!! Also I think the push is on the loss not on permanent way of life changes. Interested to see what others think....

Tried a new workout machine yesterday - The Stair Stepper - Thankful the program comes to a stop after 20 minutes!!!! Already walked 60 minutes on the treadmill this morning!!

Thankful that it is sunny today! Mom upset as I won't come to dinner for her potroast, gravy and mashed potatoes and she (lives 20 minutes away) KNOWS I am on a diet and she is upset ??!!!!! sigh

Mara The journey isn't perfect....it's not like we get to cut food out of our lives!! It gets better!!

Staja Had to google "smooth move" Ha!!! Have to I'm less regular than I would like at this point - guess everything has to change....

Ate at a Red Robin last night for the first time - on what planet does a wedge salad come with over a cup of greasy onion rings - I picked them off - that was a total victory! As I looked at the greasy onion ring mess, I realized how I want to eat high quality food as much as possible - if I am going to eat an onion ring it better be a great one to be worth it!

Walking on a treadmill again today...can weigh tomorrow but I don't think there will be anything new to report...and that is ok!!!

Thankful that I can admit I am a hypocrit!. Met friends for dinner and ate a Fried Fish sandwich (Bread and FF!) and here I gave my mom a hard time (she does not know what I did last night).. SO its okay for ME to eat wrong when I want,.. but I can't say yes when someone else offers off plan food? ????!!!!! Pondering this....

Still at 178 today but I didn't expect a drop - going to go shopping for a new winter coat this weekend, the one from last year is just too big!!My mother is using myfitnesspal now to log her food consistently now - she is diabetic and was off on her counts. I'm going to call her today to see if she has seen more consistent blood sugars now.....

So much going on with stress at work. It is so bad and I am not the only employee that apparently feels some tension, someone had broken down and was crying in the break room saying she hadn't working in environments like this and would leave if she could just find another job. She is such a sweet young lady and it is horrible to see. I almost cracked under that stress last week myself. I don't know what is going on but its horrible and no one can trust anyone, form friendships, or believe anything that is being said. It makes me want to lock my office door and eat ice cream:mad:

Mainecyn- Ugh!! One strategy I use is to walk it off - If I am walking I am not eating - I notice when I am mad/frustrated I walk faster!!! A bad working environment is awful - take the high road - it's not easy but in the end you will always know you did your best!!

Oh STAJA... I am glad its NOT anything horrible.. and swelling and pain.. water is present there!.. Quit hitting yourself while you sleep! :) just teasing!

Mainecyn... oh gosh.. what a stressful work place.. I too had it bad at a place for 12 years... I just listened, hugged and ate too... that is why I am what I am now... I love the idea of walking it off... Everyone gets 15 minute breaks every 4 hours? walking around outside with fresh air might help ... ooorrrrrrr do some quick exercises... I do my 50 squats during a break and my heart rate goes up and I can check it off as done and I feel better... ... Just also wanted to send you a hug.. as I know.

I am Thankful that its FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !! :woohoo:

Nothing new to report today - can't wait to tell you I have moved into new territory but it will take some time!!! I fought the urge to "power eat" all day yesterday - biology can be a real pain some days!! My mantra is "I am not starving - my body just thinks it is!"

Making Fauxtato Salad today - I really do enjoy it!! I need to expand my low carb dishes maybe make some curry cauliflower or something!!

Going to be a taxi driver all day today for baby girl!! She has quite a social life!!

Holding at 178!! It would be great to be able to tell you that I reached 177 or 176 by Thanksgiving but I am so thankful to be in the 170-somethings!!

Hope we are going to do a New Year's Challenge - I would like to be below 175 for New Years!!

Baby girl has lost 4 pounds since her check in with the doctor - visit with the dietician is scheduled for Tuesday - She didn't change her diet but is exercising regularly - gotta love a 15 year old body!!

Not worried about staying on plan on Thursday but going to a Thai restaurant on Friday and need to plan for that outing!! I'll be checking the menu and avoiding rice!!

Looking forward to the spring and showing off all the hard work from this winter!!!

11/20 247.4 ATE that fried fish sandwich (wolfed it DOWN!) and FF sigh... and my tummy blew up like a balloon! Bread does do it! I forgot and now I remember!!!!
11/21 246.4 back down and fighting forward to that 244!!!! 7 days! can be done!

11/23 247.6 Shoot up with Water and Ibuprofen taking! :(

Holding at 178 - Really hoping to report 177 for Thanksgiving!!! We will see!!!

Planning to stay on plan tomorrow!! I would like to start a new challenge for New Year's!!

I am trying to focus on my calorie and carb count - what I am noticing is that I am not hungry but that I am drawn to the fridge out of habit - not good!!! Thank goodness for the cold in some ways because I am substituting by drinking tea and will be adding broth again - I wish I could break this bad habit!!!Something to work on for the new year - It's a journey right!!

Baby Girl Update: She went to the dietician on Tuesday - She is 6 pounds down from when she went for her check up. She has about 15-20 pounds to lose but the dietician considers her case uncomplicated because she works out regularly and eats good food. She is tasked with measuring her food so that she understands the portion size she is eating and to log it in a booklet they gave her. Dietician set expectation of slow weight loss.
